(00:06):
Hello everyone, and welcome to asuper spicy and spooky and
sticky bonus episode of Too Stupid to Live, a podcast about
romance novels usually $5 and under.
I'm your host, Becky Feldman. And if you're thinking, did she
just describe this bonus spooky season Halloween episode as

(00:27):
sticky? Yes, yes I did.
I said sticky. And when I say sticky, I mean
all four definitions of that word.
For the longest time, there has been this one book that I have
been meaning to read. It has been haunting my TBR
list, if you will, just murmuring to me.
Read me Becky, read me. So when spooky season rolled

(00:50):
around, I knew that I had to review The Scarecrow's Queen, a
monster of romance by Mel Braxton and Naomi Lucas.
Yes, we are reviewing A scarecrow romance, which I have
never read before. And, you know, sometimes when
you enter a new category of species that serve as the

(01:10):
romantic leads in a romance novel, you need someone like
today's guest walking down that yellow brick road alongside you.
So you all are in for a treat. My best bud, Courtney Davis, is
back on the show. We have reviewed some of the
craziest erotica I think I've ever read from like dinosaurs to

(01:31):
like a short little novella withthe Grinch.
So obviously, Courtney needed tobe here for, you know, the
Scarecrow. We had so much fun.
We actually went a little bit longer than the normal record.
So there's actually a bonus to this bonus episode that you can
watch for free on TSTL, Sub Stack or YouTube.
And I definitely recommend watching it if you can because

(01:53):
it features some visuals that can also be described as, you
know, using all of the definitions of the word.
Sticky links to bonus content are in the show notes.
Or you can follow TSTL at TSTL Podcast on Instagram, sub stack,
TikTok, you name it. Anyway, please enjoy this treat
as Courtney Davis and I review the Scarecrow's Queen.

(02:19):
Oh my God. Courtney Dorothy Davis.
Hey, Becky. It's so good to have you back,
you look great. Thank you so much.
I feel great. I've been taking care of myself
and it's reflected and just kindof like me, my face and yes,

(02:44):
general. For people just listening,
Courtney is here. She with just fresh faced
straight teeth, skin not fallingoff her body.
Sewn together and ears on. My neck and honestly not going
to lie, love your haircut. They they hear it's new.

(03:05):
It's kind of a new style. I don't go short.
Usually I don't go it. Really brings out the scar on
your forehead that's been shoddily stitched to get
alcotted. This is my son's Halloween mask.
This mask is getting a little hot.
I'm going to. Say yes if you need to take it
off. Listen, I understand like if you

(03:26):
want to wear, if you want to, you know, put on the real
costume, if you will, which is your normal face.
What if I take it off and it's the same?
Oh, Courtney, it's you. Oh hi, oh oh oh hello.
It should also be noted for the listeners, you do have a
scarecrow field in your background, so you're recording

(03:47):
on the farm you're recording while.
I'm on the farm. I'm I'm coming in high gimmick
on this I love. I love this high gimmick.
That's all I have. I'm on the farm with my my sexy
scarecrow behind me and he's looming.
He's looming more than I expected.
It's. Hot like, are you as turned on

(04:09):
as I am? Because it is like he's it's so
scary. I'm like.
I mean, I wouldn't have been before reading this book that we
read, but now having read it, I'm like, I, I think forever.
Forever for the rest of my life.Seeing a scarecrow has it has

(04:32):
changed. Something inside me has changed.
Like like this book is characterized as monster
romance, but it's like the monster in this is a scarecrow.
And my question is like have scare, are scarecrows monsters?
They're definitely sexy, now that we know, but are they
monsters? I mean, I wouldn't have thought
of them as monsters or sexy prior to this book, right?

(04:56):
I mean, I don't know what it's like.
What? OK, so prior to this book, Yeah.
Are scarecrows. Like, in my mind, it's like,
what do we got? We got Wizard of Oz, Yeah,
Scarecrow, right? Or wicked scarecrow.
We got that's that's a scarecrow.
He's. Sexy.
Yeah, or. I mean.

(05:17):
I just spoil Wicked too. I'm so sorry for everyone.
Sorry, I mean OK, I guess I was thinking like original wizard.
Of Oz OK. Also not that's not a sexy
scarecrow. No.
Or is he? I don't know.
He's he's, I mean, he's just like a dumb, right?
He's the one with no brain. Yes, that's right.

(05:40):
But you realize that he was smart all along or some shit
like that. You know what I mean?
That kind of dumb shit that likedumb shit you.
Realize he's dumb lesson or he'slike smart all along or
whatever. He's just like her good friend.
He's the like I'll miss you mostof all.
He's like her best friend. You know, guy.
OK, then, wicked. You're right.

(06:01):
Yes, it's yeah, more of a love interest, I guess, but I don't
Yeah, I don't think he's not like a scarecrow.
It's just like, OK, we're spoiling something about wicked
so close your ears. But yeah, the the romantic lead
gets turned into a. Scarecrow.
But it's more like he was sexy to begin with and then, right?

(06:23):
You started off sexy. You started as a sexy human,
then you went to a scarecrow. You know what I mean?
Yeah, so it's like he had sexy DNA already.
And then like, it's like, oh, we'll scarecrow you, but you'll
still maintain some. Sort of.
You're basically, like, still a sexy guy, Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. But like what other other than

(06:46):
that? I mean what?
It's just like a pole with like a pumpkin head.
I don't know what it or not a pumpkin head that what is the
scarecrow? Scarecrow is like, made like,
yeah. Like, made out of straw.
Like they're, you know, they could be called straw man.
They could, you know, Yeah. Yeah.

(07:06):
OK, let's get to this book. What?
We got to. We got to because we're going
scarecrow crazy. OK, so the book that we reviewed
is The Scarecrow's Queen, a monster romance by Mel Braxton
and Naomi Lucas. So here's a quick synopsis.
OK, step aside A strong man. We're all about the straw man.

(07:28):
When Delia Delilah inherits the farmland known as Crow's Rest
from her late aunt, she unknowingly becomes responsible
for a magical pact with a God known as the Crow King.
For two centuries, the ScarecrowHollow Stock served as a symbol
of this bird's bargain. But with Delilah aiming to
renovate and sell Crow's Rest, she's about to unleash Crow's

(07:50):
unrest. Hollow stock comes alive to
protect the harvest, but the yield he wasn't expecting was
his growing attraction to Delilah.
And he's going to learn that when it comes to love, some
scarecrows have to stitch together a lot more than just a
brain. Great symosis as always.

(08:11):
Thank. You thank you so much.
I do it for the compliments. OK, so let's just like start off
with like your first impressions.
I was like, can you read a Scarecrow romance with me?
And you, you thought yes, obviously.
But like, what were your first impressions of the book?

(08:34):
Well, I wasn't sure because we've read some, some, some, I
don't know, I guess you'd call them monster erotica or some
stuff in the past that's like weread a thing about a snowman and
we read a thing about, I don't know, like a Grinch and some
stuff that's like in the zone ofthis in the past, right?

(08:56):
So I think I was sort of expecting maybe something like
that. What I was not expecting was
this this book to captivate me like I I was like, oh shit, like
page one, which I had to read aloud to Bill last night.

(09:21):
My husband for the listeners, Bill.
Bill was out of town for a month, by the way, when I read
this book. So hollow stock kept you
company. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yes, which is an an interesting like situation to be in reading
this book. But but he was back and like I

(09:41):
was kind of rereading it last night to sort of read
familiarize myself with it and Iwas like, babe, let me just read
you the first page of this book, because I remember reading the
first page and being like, Oh myGod, like what?
Like I was like, oh shit, this is I'm in on this book.

(10:02):
Like this is this is going to belike I'm what?
Like, I think I was expecting, no offense to the stuff we've
read in the past. No, yeah.
Whatever of more, more in the line of what I don't know, like
what stuff we've read in the past is more kind of like, I
don't know, trashy pamphlets riddled with typos.

(10:27):
Exactly like this is the first kind of aside.
We did read all fours, but that doesn't count.
We did read all fours, that's a different category.
Yeah, alternate news. This is the first one where like
it, it was, it was a book. It's a book like, and I mean
this book because like what we would review, which is like kind
of just pure smut erotica where it's like open with a woman

(10:51):
who's sad about something. She gets fucked just through
everything, you know, like. Down and sideways and all the
different halls and crazy you'reby like a dinosaur or like a
bird or a Santa Claus or a nice man or whatever.
Exactly which? I'm into that.
I was in it. Oh, I love it too.
And then it was just like story over.

(11:12):
But then I was and I was like when I started reading, I was
like, what is Courtney going to think?
Because we start on lore, you know, it's just like there is
magic, there are like these, like there's witchcraft,
there's, you know, like these gods.
And this is all I pictured it taking place in like Nebraska or
something. But this is like, kind of like,

(11:33):
it felt like very like European, like lore, like folklore, fairy
tale, kind of kind of a world, but in Nebraska.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, I was like in to it. I was surprised because I don't,
you know, I'm not. I don't read romance novels.
Like, I don't know the world. I don't.

(11:56):
So I'm not. I didn't know what to expect.
And I was like, oh, holy shit. Like I'm so into this.
From the opening page, I was very into it.
I was like, I'm I'm loving it. I'm loving this whole setup,
loving the premise. Like just into the plot.
I thought it was like well written.
I thought it was like, I loved the Scarecrow character.

(12:20):
I was like, I'm yeah, I'm full in.
Yeah, yeah. Great to what you're saying,
like I have read a lot and I will say I was blown away by
this book. Like I have never read anything
like, well, I mean, I've never read a scarecrow romance before.
But like, you know, obviously this is the first, but like
right away, like it opens and itstarts with like, OK, there's

(12:41):
this ancient pact that like the scarecrow, like there's a crow
king. And like, I actually look at
this, I actually looked up yesterday instead of getting a
life. But so like in like like
medieval times, like or like in Scotland or like even like in
Pagan things, you know, people were always were like praying

(13:03):
for a full harvest or like praying that their crops would
not like die once like winter would come.
So there were some people who would believe that like, oh, the
crows are eating our crops. Like maybe there's a crow God
that we need to make a pact withto make sure they don't eat our
crops. And that's like kind of how
scarecrows came about. But then during like the witch

(13:26):
trials or whatever, or you know, like when every woman was being
accused of being a witch, which is still today, but you know, it
was like people would like come up with stories to like kind of
prove why so and so was a witch. And so they came up with a story
of like, oh, someone was using witchcraft to make this
scarecrow. And that scarecrow is making a

(13:46):
pact with the demon birds. So like the demon so the demon
birds won't eat their harvest. So then the scarecrow became
kind of like this thing of like, don't put a scarecrow.
They're going to think you're a wit, you know?
So it's like kind of a very interesting story.
Interesting. I had no idea that it was like
based on some real shit. Yeah, I love I loved the Crow

(14:07):
king. I loved that it was like a
little bit of like had horror elements where it was like, OK,
well, if you don't do this thing, then the Crow King is
going to like get you and like turn you into a crow.
I was like, my God, I I was like, what the fuck?
And I kept when I was reading, Iwas like, what is going to
happen? Like because I was like, OK, I
know the romance just through you.

(14:27):
I like know, like, OK, this is I'm going to have a happily ever
after. But I kept wondering like, what
is going to happen? Like what is going to happen to
this woman because she does not want this farm.
And like there's this threat that like she's going to get
turned into a crow. And like she keeps reading these
things where it's like, oh, you here's the history.
And it's like, oh, the people that didn't take care of the
farm, like they just disappeared.

(14:49):
You never like what happened to them.
And I was like, oh, I love that it has these elements of like,
you will be punished. Like if you don't like take care
of the farm or whatever. Yeah, and it's.
Fucked up and I was like, oh I'mvery into this.
The stakes were very high in this.
It wasn't just like, oh, so if you fail, you won't have your
dream career or like you don't have whatever.

(15:10):
It's like if you fail, you will be like your eyes are going to
be plucked out to and like it was like fucking scary shit.
Like I'm jumping ahead. But there's even a scene where
she's attacked by crows and it they kind of reference it to
being like the birds, the movie. And that was like, I mean that
to me is is I don't know why. I mean, like just I am, I guess

(15:30):
I'm scared of birds is my point. But it was it was a horrifying
sequence. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And it was, I thought across theboard, like, well written like
that. Stuff like very visceral, like
the way that they wrote that scene it you really felt that
like when they're like fighting the birds, he's like trying to
get her inside and they're like grabbing her clothes and stuff

(15:52):
just like bleeding and stuff like.
And that was great. Like I those elements were were
awesome and and parts were like the crows are all gathering
outside and like looking in and she's like what is happening and
stuff. And and I liked the dual
narration that I don't know how common that is, but that it was

(16:12):
like we'd go back and forth, youknow, and we'd hear from him,
we'd hear from her. And you know, I love a cranky
narrator. So I liked that he was just mad
all the time. I mean, you know, until he kind
of softens up, but he's just like pissed off for like the
first half of the book. He's like, she's messing up the
farm. And I was like, I love this guy,
like. Yes, And it was like for the

(16:32):
first time, like I'm like, it's not, not for the first time.
But you know, when like someone is grumpy and you're like, come
on, man, cheer up. This time I'm reading it.
And I'm like, well, it's coming from an OK place.
He's been guarding this farm for200 years.
And like, then you have like some lady come in and just like
mess it all up. And I was like, I kind of feel
for like I, I felt. More Oh, I was full.

(16:54):
I was full on hollow socks. I was like, yes.
I was fully with him. I was like, yeah, come on, like
she needs to get it together. Like she's just like, I'm not
going to do. I'm going to take down this
fence. And he's like, I'm trying to put
germs on it to grow the things. And she's like.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And she's just like, oh, I want
to sell it because she just likewants to renovate and move on.

(17:15):
And I will say to Hollow Stocks credit, he does do a really good
job of like, he's so cranky, buthe does do an excellent job of
like coming around and like, OK,she didn't know.
Like, she's just. Yeah, she like her aunt who gave
her the farm was distant. She knew nothing about this.
So she's just coming in thinkinglike, I got this land I got or I
got this house. I really do.

(17:35):
You know, she. Yeah.
So I was like, OK, holla suck. I understand where you're coming
from. And you, you he had great
growth. I guess my.
Point he did and a very really short amount of time from going
from literally made out of strawand sticks do full human.
Yes. It's a big transition.
It's a huge transition. I mean, when I went through it,

(17:57):
it was, oh, I meant to tell you,I used Scarecrow.
So what? So basically like when Delilah
arrives there, she sees the Scarecrow and she's like, this
is, and the scarecrow obviously is imbued with like witch magic,
so it has like conscience and all this stuff.
She decides to throw it out because it's too disturbing.

(18:18):
And then basically the scarecrowkind of becomes a human, a
really sexy human. He goes by Jack Hollow and comes
back to the farm. And he's like, I'll take care of
the farm by pretending to be this, this human.
Then if she's not going to like, keep the scarecrow.
So but for Delilah, she thinks, oh, look at this weird hot
farmer guy who's working for free.

(18:39):
I don't know where he lives. And he also has no phone and no
friends, You know what I mean? She's like, OK.
And like, very cryptic and like, all of his answers, like, very
cryptic. Yeah.
It's awesome. Sort of a Frankenstein slight
vibe I felt like at times, yeah. She describes him as like a

(19:02):
scared puppy at one point. And I was like, I really liked
that because like, while she's like being like, who is this
guy? We also have like this journey
from Hollowstock's end of like finding out what it means to be
human, which I thought was like so beautiful, you know, like
absolutely. What do you need, you know, to,
to kind of, to, to consider yourself a human?

(19:24):
Do you need a heart? Do you need this?
Do you need obviously a cock, which we are going to talk
about? We're going to talk about.
It obviously you need a Jay. That's how you're human.
It's all about the Dicks, baby. Was something I wondered about
from the get go. Me too on page one.

(19:46):
My first note was is his Dick a corn cob?
But I was expecting his Dick to be like pulls on his pants and
it's a corn cob. I want, Yeah.
I wondered about the Dick from the jump and then there's a
scene where he mentions he doesn't have 1 and I was like
what? Jaw-dropping.
Jaw drop. Such a jaw-dropping.

(20:07):
Jaw drop. I was like because how are they
what is he going to grow one? What is going to happen?
Like it was just like whole I got to say this book and many
times went in directions I wasn't expecting and that was
one of them. I was like wait.
It was yes, like he doesn't havea Dick.
And what I will like really givethe authors credit for is that

(20:29):
from Delilah's perspective, she is sexualizing him from the get
go. And she's like thinking what's
like look at his ABS. They go down to the V and what's
beneath his pants and stuff. And she and and so you think
like, oh, this guy probably has like the biggest Dick and he
doesn't even know it. And then all of a sudden it's
just like, Nope, he has a mound of nothing.

(20:50):
Nothing. Nothing, because he was a
scarecrow and they didn't. There was no reason for a Dick
and he didn't have one. It was a skirt.
And I was like, that makes sense.
The logic is airtight. The logic is airtight, like I
and also the here's something that it didn't bother me at all,
but he's like learning about humans.

(21:11):
He, you know, realizes he doesn't have a Dick.
He like, you know, has full range and to like go into the
house and hang and whatever because you know, they're going,
they're getting close, they're becoming friends and stuff.
He reads a book on like human Physiology or like human
anatomy. So he doesn't.
He's a scarecrow without a Dick.Somehow he knows how to read,
which I'm like, I don't care, like I don't care about that.

(21:32):
Like that stuff doesn't bother me.
I'm glad, but I'm just like, that's very funny.
It's like the power. That's just one thing is like
he's a good, he's he really likeretains information really.
Well, yeah, there's a lot of stuff where he's like, he knows
how to cook, he knows how to read, he likes jazz.
Like there's a lot of things. You're going married.
He cool. Becomes this dream guy and like

(21:53):
to the extent of like he learns how to like have like make he he
got we'll we'll get we'll OK, we'll get to the Dick part.
But he learns how to like woo a woman through romance novels.
Like he's just like absorbing things from just this non
judgmental, very innocent perspective.
Yeah, I mean, they really, like, make him sort of like, OK, how

(22:13):
do we make this guy, like, a total dream boat?
It's like OK, like full stud like but like hot body but also
sort of this innocent but also like you're my queen and I want
to please you in every way. And then I'm going to read.
I'm going to read all these romance books and like how to
please you. But also I can like cook this
amazing dinner. And also I can like beat up

(22:34):
somebody if you want me to. But also I can like mend
defense. But also it's like OK.
Yeah. Incredible.
Like just all the ways that you can be, you know what how check
off the boxes like and I'm just gonna like fuck you with my huge
Dick. Also that I built myself.
We'll get to. We'll get to yes yes, it was
kind of like incredible of like he's just like how to be perfect

(22:58):
man like it's almost robotic in a way yes, even though like
that's. The sort of the Frankenstein
aspect of it, in a way, it's like, how do I learn how to be,
to be perfect? Yeah, like this perfect human,
honestly like an opposite Frankenstein like he comes to
life instead of like killing everything.
He no, he just just perfect. OK, so let's talk about this

(23:23):
this cock. We got to talk about this cock
man Got. To.
OK, so basically like he the lot, like the crows are coming
Jack or Jack at or Hollowstock as Jack is doing all that he can
to stop these crows or whatever,Delilah decides to build a new
scarecrow. And at this point, Hollowstock

(23:45):
has just learned from his Physiology books about Dicks.
And so he's like, I'll help you.And then he so he's like they're
putting together the scarecrow and like he just randomly sews
on a Dick and she's like, what? Which is amazing.
And I I feel like the the book had some humor that I wasn't

(24:07):
expecting, like, and that that Ifeel like was one of the one
example. But I mean, there were parts
where it really made me laugh where it's like, yeah, he's soda
big Dick under the scarecrow that he made.
And she was like, what? Yeah, that was, it was such a
great moment. And also like, oddly, I'm not
going to say relatable, but like, you know, when like

(24:28):
someone shows you a picture or something of like, look what I
made and you're like, what's that doing?
Do you know what I mean? And he's like, oh, is it a
problem that I put? And he's.
But again, it's like this thing where he is like new to the
world or ever. And he's like, oh, this is a
problem. Like he doesn't understand he.
Doesn't understand that. There's like, what's wrong with

(24:49):
it? He's like, is this wrong?
But I've it's it's and not anatomically correct, right?
And she's and she's like, OK. Yeah, like what he, like,
doesn't know that, like, these are private parts and like,
there's a stigma around it and we have to be like, polite or
whatever. And so but he basically he's

(25:10):
like, so you don't like Cox? And she's like, no, I like Cox.
OK. You like, you know, And it was
just like that fun, kind of naive back and forth, which was
a very enjoyable scene. So he like realizes that like,
OK, he's like, OK, she likes Cox.
I like her. And he just does this magic.
I mean, this is the it's a live,it's a live moment of he decides

(25:35):
to take the cock from the makeshift scarecrow and stitch
it on himself and make a lot of adjustments.
Yeah. And Oh my God, oh.
My God, yeah, it's going to be his cock.
He sews this, he sews this cock on and he starts thinking about

(25:57):
Delilah and then he gets like possessed by this like monster
boner. He cannot stop jerking off.
And can I also say the description of his Dick is
insane. The way that they describe it,
every single time that they describe it, from the start of

(26:19):
his building of it to really every description I was
picturing just almost to the point of unpleasantly large,
like huge. The way that they describe it is
like elephant time. I mean, enormous with like
bulges in the middle. And I was like to the point

(26:41):
where I was like, I don't, this is almost I'm not sure if I like
it. Like it's like so giants like
they just really keep harping onit, how huge it is.
And I'm like, OK, guys, I mean, there's there's a big Dick.

(27:02):
We all have a big Dick, but there's big Dick and then
there's like, hold on, like. Like you need to go to a hot,
you need to go to a hot. Right, like I don't too much
like, OK, we love, we love it, but like I was like, all right,
just it's a lot. It's a lot to the point where in
my mind, the Dick I was picturing was almost not was too

(27:24):
much, was like ridiculous to that was absurd.
I was picturing a Dick that was like the size of my leg with a
bulge in the middle, right. And like, this is this is kind
of the part that maybe I felt a little nervous for Delilah
because not only does he have this giant Dick, he's
experiencing horniness for the first time ever.

(27:46):
And he can and he doesn't have arefractory period and he can
just go, go, go. And I was like, whoa, this is a
lot of big Dick. This is a lot of sex.
Delilah even said she's feeling sore.
Like I'm just like, OK, I'm a little, I'm a little bit
nervous. I mean, and we know she's going
to be fine because it's a book and it's whatever, but I was, I

(28:08):
guess I was just like, I like wecould have we could have pulled
back slightly on how giant the Dick.
They just, they really love to talk about how giant this
bulging Dick is to them. Yes, I.
Was like, OK, all right. But yeah, it was, it was even
now in my mind, I'm like this Dick is it's like a it's yeah,
it's a tripod third like situation where I'm like, it's

(28:30):
guys, it's too much. It's technically it's like a
third character in this book, like it's the third lead like of
this, this Dick. Is and there was a lot of
aggressive like every time he jacked off, it would be like I
was going to RIP my Dick off. Like I was just like it was.
There was a lot of talk of like ripping, almost ripping his Dick
off and any because it's stitched on.

(28:51):
I mean that's a real possibility.
And I was like, I don't know if I like that, like I want to hear
that you almost ripped your Dickoff.
That sounds so unpleasant. Yes, and he like when he's like
talking about like what it feelslike to come for the first time
and he's like I like he is he says something along the lines
of like I want death. I need death, this has this, I
need to die this, and I'm just like I under like I I I know

(29:15):
he's feeling it for the first time.
It was like a kind of a fascinating moment, but like it
was like, you know how like you want to quote UN quote torment
people when you're pleasuring them, you know like pleasure.
If there's a fun kind of torment, torture this, like
since he was dealing with all this for the first time, I'm
like, oh, where's the pleasant part of it?
Like it ends up being pleasant, obviously.

(29:36):
But you know, I was just like, oh, he seems like he's like in
pain and doesn't know what's going on.
And like that I was like the poor scarecrow.
He doesn't understand. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah. Listen, he's, he doesn't
understand. He's figuring it out.
Yeah, figuring it out. And then eventually, like he

(30:00):
like, like he basically like says that he, you know, wants to
be partners with Delilah. Delilah is like, yes, eventually
like he Delilah's like figuring out why is this guy so weird?
What if blah, blah, blah. He comes clean and says that
that he's, he's a scarecrow. He is hollow stock.
We have this reveal and then they have an insane amount of

(30:21):
sex. Just so much sex, so much sex.
Yeah, I did like the the kind ofslow burn of the the drawn out
nature of the way that the sex scenes were presented.
Like the, you know, because there was like a first, there

(30:42):
was like a kiss that they had and then nothing happened for a
while. And then there was like, and
then there was kind of like a hot and heavy scene where they
like almost have sex and then her brother comes in, right?
And then interrupts. And I was like, great.
Like I was really enjoying that aspect of the book as well.
Like I feel like it was really drawn out, like before they

(31:05):
actually like have sex for the first time.
Which? Was and I appreciated that they
didn't have sex for the first time until she fully knew the
full story. I thought that was such a great,
great like decision on like the story and of just like, OK, like
we're doing this thing that's like kind of sacred and

(31:27):
important to people. We have to be our true selves.
And he's and this is like, I don't know, like something when
you're doing something so vulnerable and it's like, you
know what, you want to know whatyou're getting into.
And I just like, felt I finally felt like safe, you know, once,
like she was like kind of understanding of like, I don't
know. It was.
Yeah. I love that.
Yeah, and it was hot because he's like I'm hollow stock baby,

(31:48):
like by the like when they finally do have sex and he's
like, Jack's not here and it's like I'm hollow stock or
whatever. I was like, oh, this is hot.
This is hot. Yeah, Yeah, it.
Was so hot, yeah. Yeah, so that was great.
All of the I just felt like theyhad a good, the author had a
great like their dialogue was really hot, like all of that

(32:10):
like talk the way that he talkedto her and she talked to him,
like all of that stuff. And they're just all that build
up. All that kind of like like I
said, like all that slow burn stuff.
I was like, this is great. Like all of this is so hot, like
building up to when they finallyhave sex for the first time.

(32:31):
I don't know, like if I have onequibble with this basically
perfect book, it was that I don't know how hot I found it
once they were just like into the like now we're fucking all
the time section. Like I don't know if the
descriptions of the sex. I was sort of like, OK, like it
was, it felt like kind of like, OK, we're a lot of like just

(32:55):
sort of all right, we're fuckingover here and then we're in, you
know, we're in the tub. That was a nice scene.
It was sort of sexy. It just sort of felt like a lot
of sort of like P&V, like missionaries.
I was sort of like, oh, maybe wecould mix it up a little more.
I don't know. I think I because I'm, I don't
know, I'm nasty. And I was like, yeah, I think I

(33:17):
was expecting more like, is she going to fuck him as a actual
scarecrow at some point? Or are they going to get nastier
at some point or like more weirdshit or, I don't know, like, is
that going to fuck that new scarecrow at some point or, I
don't know, like I think I was like some anal.
I don't know. I was like, where are we?
Going I wasn't getting. Thirtier or something like but
you know, listen again, love this book.

(33:38):
So just minor quibbles. Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, the sex was very sweet. You know, again, we're reading
this couple falling in love, youknow, and it's like they're
connecting. I will say I they do like they
do have sex on a rocking chair which that to me I don't know
why stresses me out because I'm how how the chair do I.

(33:59):
Agree. Yeah, there was some of that
where I was like how? Yeah, the the logistics of some
of that. I'm like, yeah.
And there's like he's also has like super strength, right?
So he can like do so he can likelift her up and be fine and do
whatever or do like a weird backbend while he's like coming,
you know. So there was like there was like
interesting, but it wasn't like not I'm not saying it wasn't

(34:23):
sexy, it just wasn't maybe as boundary push pushing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, 100%. I agree.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was sort of yeah.
It was sweeter, maybe then. Yes.
Yeah. But I will say I really did like
the part when he makes her her own scarecrow pole in the
windmill and he ties her up likea scarecrow and then they have

(34:45):
sex. I thought that was such a
beautiful moment, climactic scene of just what it it was
just like her. It was his way of showing this
is what my life is and it was just so beautiful.
Yeah, that was hot. And it was hot.
Yeah. Yeah.
I also like that he made a huge dinner for her.

(35:06):
Like, do you remember he. Yeah, right where he like, knows
how to cook or I don't know, we don't know how.
And then but it's all just a pretense to like, fuck.
And he's like makes this whole dinner.
They eat like one bite of it andthen he's like OK let's fuck.
Yes, and, and, and she is, and she's like, OK, like, wait, what
do I, what do I have? Oh, OK, so I there's like this

(35:28):
section where he's like, he straightens as a wicked eager
look flickers. He's like, okay, it's settled.
And she's like, what's settled? We're partners now, you and I.
There will be no one else from now on.
Tonight I will make you dinner and afterward, my queen, you'll
take my cock. And she's just like, whoa.
And. And it's like with one last scan
of his face and his haughty eyestaking me in from head to toe,
he bowls his head like he's somegentleman.

(35:50):
Prepare yourself. And with that he strides out,
leaving me speechless like, and he's doing this like it's not
even, he's not even doing it to like to like be a Dom or to like
know it. He is just earnestly being like
we are partners now. You, I will fuck you.
Goodnight and good luck, you know what I mean?
Prepare yourself. That was like, I was like, get
out of here. That was just one of the best

(36:11):
lines of the book. Prepare yourself.
I was like, yes. Yes, and I liked it because he
didn't even know what it meant. Like he doesn't know what it
means, you know what I mean? Like he's just like prepare,
prepare. Like was he like prepare
yourself, like have your legs open or like prepare yourself
for you will never be alone again.
Goodnight. I'm going to go make burgers or
whatever he made, you know what I mean?

(36:32):
I mean, I was just like, I can't.
Can you imagine if someone said that to prepare yourself?
I was like. Yeah.
That kind of blew my way. And again, listen, Maggie, I was
reading this, my husband has left for a month, this book.
And I was like, is, is the fact that my husband is gone for a

(36:55):
month affecting how I feel aboutthis book?
Probably, maybe. But I was like, Oh my God, this
book is amazing. I'm reading lines like prepare
yourself. I'm like, Oh my God, this book
is incredible. I've been alone for a month.
I mean, I get what you're saying.
Like I, I, I will like, I think,yeah, maybe like maybe you're

(37:17):
seeing this guy who is just likeexperiencing maybe testosterone
or whatever, not like testosterone scientifically, but
like kind of feeling sex drive for for the first time in his
life and he's like, like understanding this and it's so
feral, you know what I mean? Maybe that's what it is that
like it's like kind of like there's an, there's like an
animalistic quality to it that is just like, OK, this isn't

(37:39):
like a night where it's like, OK, we'll get it.
We'll go to the movies, we'll play mini golf.
And then like, maybe we'll just like hang and have a like, this
is just like fucking, you know, eating and fucking.
Yes, and the confidence, you know, I think we all, we all
have confidence, you know? Yes.
It's not like, oh, can I maybe can I give you a kiss?
It's like we're going tonight and we're gonna prepare

(38:01):
yourself. And.
But he's also like Mike, we and I will pleasure you.
So it's a nice combo. It's such a nice confidence.
And you know what, why I like this confidence because it's not
based on how many women he's with, you know what I mean?
It's just based on his devotion. And like that's what I loved of
like he wasn't like because likesometimes like if you see this
like sort of confidence in a romance novel or in real life,

(38:23):
like they're just like, don't worry, don't worry, babe, I know
what I'm doing. I've had this girl, that girl,
this girl, they all just fell totheir knees when I was fucking.
And this is just like, I'm you're mine.
I'm fucking you. It's going to be the best night
of your life. Good night, right?
Right. And he can follow through on
the, you know, the promise. Also, it's not just like, oh,

(38:45):
you're going to love it. And then it's like were.
You a scarecrow yesterday? Because that was terrible.
Like he's got the, he can deliver, you know?
Yes, on the promise. He delivers on the promise, he
does the research and it was just like.
Research. And it's just so funny to me

(39:08):
that this guy, he kind of nailedbeing a man in like, what, 3
months? And there's still, like, you
know, so many men who are 75 years old who still can't nail.
He nailed it. Guys.
All you have to do read a romance novel.
It's it's a lot of things that this guy does, though.
He's like handy. He knows how to cook.

(39:28):
I mean, very sweet, but also masculine.
You know, it's a nice, he's not afraid to, you know, show his
feminine side. He loves flowers.
Yes, smell of flowers. Which was also such a great
thing because he was like reading about like courting, you
know, and he's like, this is what people, this is what the
humans do here is flowers. And it's just like a beautiful

(39:49):
bouquet of like that he like designed him, you know, like
it's just like. That's what we want.
We want the guy who can design flowers.
This is beautiful. And then, just like
Frankenstein, fuck our brains off.
Yes. Is it that hard?
I guess we it isn't that hard. Is it that hard?
I guess just means if the dream guy has to be a scarecrow for

(40:09):
200 years and then suddenly become a human in order to be
the perfect man. Hey, we'll take it.
Yeah, we'll take it. I mean, listen, that's what Bill
should have been doing when he was gone, was being a scarecrow
for two years. He's my own version of a
scarecrow come to life. Yes, exactly.

(40:32):
So OK, so as this is going on, like we're we're evolving, we're
developing stories, developing Delilah, who initially was like
wanting to leave, she's now having like mixed feelings.
She's loving the farm, she's loving hollow stock.
And so she's kind of dealing with like, I mean, we know like
as we know how it's going to end, going to end together.
But like you are kind of like, well, how is she going to like

(40:56):
kind of rectify this? Because her whole like, like one
thing she does is talk about howmuch she loves her job even
though she was on sabbatical andhow, and she has this moment of
like, I think she's like a physical trainer or something.
She's like, I love helping people fix their bodies and
things like that. And I'm like, I knew that she
was going to leave it and she was going to whatever.
And I'm like, oh man, that's, that's a tough conflict.

(41:18):
I know there was a little part of me that's like knowing that
his whole thing, his whole thingis like he can't leave the farm.
It's like whenever he leaves thefarm, he starts to like fall
apart. So you're.
Like, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you got this guy who
literally can't leave his house. So he's like housebound.
No matter how amazing he is, he's you're bound to a house.
He. Does think it's acreage though.

(41:39):
It's a farm. It's.
Acreage, it's a big blaze, whatever.
I mean, but no, yeah, it just like you.
Can't go it. You can't be like, let's go to
Europe, you can't go there. Yeah, it's, it's awful.
It's awful. It's awful, right?
So she and she so that's like a lot.
You're giving up there. I mean, that is something to be
like, OK, I'm giving up my career that I had all the people
I knew. I can't, I mean, not that they

(42:00):
couldn't convince you, whatever, but you're sort of like, OK, I'm
I'm I don't know. It was sort of there was part of
me that was like, that's a lot to give up.
I mean, right. Yeah, I know it's like true love
and a perfect guy and all that stuff, but like, I don't know,
it was it was a little like it'sweird.

(42:20):
And and she talks about how isolated the farm is there a lot
like where it's like, oh, they're out in the middle of
nowhere. And like her whole thing's like,
oh, I like to be social and I like to see people and Bobby
Blue. And it's like, so yeah, I did
wonder, like, how's this going to work?
Yeah, because like, and also like, people live, like living
on a farm is a lot of work, whether you're the farmer or

(42:40):
not. Like you're always having to,
like, do stuff, you know, she was always having to do stuff.
And it's like, oh, like, and she's just going to do it.
Like for love. Like that's weird.
And also like the pact that you're getting into is kind of
fucked up because like it's generational.
So like if you get into this pact, well, I mean, I guess she

(43:02):
has no choice. That's what that's what that was
so crazy to me. I was like, she's already in the
pact. You can't.
So like you're going to get turned into a crow or die or
your eyes are going to plucked out or whatever, or you're going
to be like, OK, I'll do it. But then your kids are are like
now bound, yes, or whoever you give it to is bound.
So it's sort of like the fuckingring.

(43:23):
Like it. Really is yeah, yeah, yeah.
And like it's No 1. And in this, like she, again,
she has no idea that she's getting into this.
So there's like no disclosure about like, yeah, you know,
'cause like ideally if I were ina pact and I had kids, I, you
know, from day one I'd be like, just so you know, like, like,
you know what I mean? Like this is not these.
Guys were in a pact. Yeah, we will get killed by King

(43:46):
Crab the crocane if we don't do it.
Exactly. Yeah.
What? Do you all has to do it?
Yeah, I would just, like, plant the seeds in, you know, of pun
intended, of this pact with my kids.
Just like even things like. OK, All right, honey, Mommy has
to leave early because she has to go do the fields because of

(44:08):
the pact and so they. Don't want mommy turned into a
crow? Exactly.
So then the kid grows up knowing, OK, I guess what part
of life is a pact? And they, like, have, they're a
well equipped, you know what I mean?
This. They're not well equipped.
And they. And I guess like that her aunt
wanted to tell her about this pact right before she died, but

(44:28):
her mom was like, kind of thwarting it.
So yeah, it's sad. It was sad, Yeah.
Her mom kind of fucked it up, yeah, but you know, she she does
decide to do. It she does decide to do it, she
does it in like kind of a cool way though.
Like there's like a so like so far, like they've been like kind

(44:51):
of appeasing this king, but thenall of a sudden, why I thought
it, This is why I thought Nebraska.
There was there's a tornado thatjust like rips through town and
it ruins her crop. It ruins everything.
And so as a result, like he fades.
He took, you know, just as just as they say they love each
other. That moment man sad she's like

(45:15):
decided to stay. It was like such a triumphant
moment. They finally love each other.
He like fades and turns back into just like straw and and
nothingness. Rough, but I like that because
then she's got a, she's got to step up.
And she does, she does really well.

(45:36):
She was like, OK, fine. I'm just going to like, I will
meet with the Crow King and I'm going to save his life.
And she does can. I just say that it was another
scene where I was like, this is wild.
That whole scene where she talksto the Crow King and he's like
shape shifting and all that shit.
I was like, this book is cool. I thought so two OK, what I love

(45:59):
one, I want to see this Crow king have a romance and find
find his happily ever after because like the way they made
him seem that like he he's a giant crow, but then he shape
shifts into like a crow man and he's like I pictured like kind
of he's like wearing a suit and he has like feathers everywhere
like I pictured very. Cool the description yeah, the
description of him as a man was like very cool and weird and

(46:22):
like unexpected and I was like this book, God, this book is
wild and I'm. So wild.
I loved it and what else I likedabout it was when she like she
does this like kind of like mental preparation scene of like
I'm meeting the Crow king. I have to look my best and she
pulls out her best outfit to like go and meet the Crow king

(46:42):
And I'm like, if you were meeting the Crow king, what's
your thinking about? What's in your closet now?
What would you wear? Like, what's your confidence?
Like what will convince the group?
Yeah. Okay, great, great question.
Great question, Becky. God, it's tough because like,
okay, I'm on a farm or like, am I on a farm or am I just like

(47:05):
you? Are you're you're at your house.
The the you have to meet the crow King and you have only was
like what's in your closet like what's your power?
What's your powers like? What's?
Your power suit or dress? It's interesting.
So I don't normally wear a dress, but I have a dress that I
feel pretty good in that I mightsort of a blue dress that I feel
like I might, I might go meet Crow King in that.

(47:27):
I feel pretty good in, you know, yeah, I might.
There's a kind of a long blue dress that I have that I might
go with that at this. It's my gut, my gut answer right
now. What about you?
Yeah. I okay, I have these, this okay,
definitely like boots, like I like, I like myself when I wear
like stomping my stomping boots. And I also have this like this

(47:54):
kind of bib. This what's it called?
Like the it's like a jumpsuit, but it's like the spaghetti
string things and it ties and I would wear like kind of like a
sexy shirt underneath, you know, with the thing.
And so I'd be like sexy on top, ass kicker on the bottom and
yeah. And, and I'd be like, all right,
Crow King. Now I'm changing my idea.

(48:15):
Your suit's good. Be like OK businessman to
business Crow. I mean, a suit does work like I
do. I sometimes like when I wear
like I was about to say a straight jacket.
That's not it like, but a sportsjacket or like, you know, like a
suit on top. I'm like I do, I don't know.
I do feel you do feel like I'm, I'm cool as book right now, you

(48:38):
know? Let's get down to this deal
which I renegotiating croaking. Yes.
And she re. OK, so back to this deal that
she renegotiates, which again really is alarming.
You know, I mean, outside if this were happening in real
life, she was just like, he's like, I'll bring the Crow King
back. I'll make the pact last another

(48:59):
100 years, but and I'll give youthe ability to have kids.
Your kids have to honor the pactfor the next 100 years.
And that's like kind of how she saves everything.
I mean, it's, you know, whateverhappily ever after, she's
excited because she's like, we can have kids and not like, Oh
no, we can have kids that we're going to fuck up their lives.
Doesn't matter. So yeah, so like so then like he

(49:21):
comes back and it's kind of likea fun.
He's he goes back and he sees like the first like witch who
bewitched him or whatever. He's with the drum and he comes
back and it's. But I think the idea she says
something like, because he's like, OK, it's 100 year pact or
whatever. And then she says something
later where she's like, I'll just figure out a way to live

(49:42):
long enough so that my kids don't have to deal with it.
So it's like, OK, she's going tolike do some witchcraft to like
live 100 years. Because that was oh, that was
the other thing that I was thinking about was like, I mean,
this is basically like a a vampire story almost.
Also because he's immortal. That's right.
And she's human. So I mean, he's just going to
like, watch her age and die. And that's tragic.

(50:04):
I mean, that's another thing I was thinking about.
Well. Don't they talk about like
towards the like in the epilogueagain, everything's wrapping up
and you're like, whatever they're talking about, they they
do say, hey, we're going to findways to, you know, so.
Try to live longer or whatever. The book, the first book in that
series, you know, the the woman at the museum, Summer and her

(50:26):
boyfriend Zuriel I kind of. Had a sense that that was the
couple that was like the first book was about.
Exactly, they're like the first couple, Zuriel is a gargoyle
during the night and they and again it's it's actually like
was another great book where he gets a penis for the first time,
like cuz like he's like a gargoyle statue in museum.

(50:47):
She always jokes around that he's like so hot.
And then like one day he she sees like a Dick in his gargoyle
for him and then the next day, you know, he comes alive and
like, so they talk about like magic and so they're already
working at it. And then the the guy who like
gave her the farm who also owns that museum.
Like I have a feeling that they're like working on like,

(51:08):
you know, procuring magic. So I have a feeling it's going
to be OK, but I don't. But like it is but like it what?
What's the next book? Just have the next.
Book Where is the next book? Yes, come on, I mean.
OK, yeah, we we would just assume that they're gonna.
Yes. Live forever, I guess, but I

(51:30):
don't know. And then you'll have kids who
don't. I don't know.
It's weird. Then it's like, well, then what?
Do you have kids? I don't know.
It's confusing because it ends with her pregnant and they and
she's like really excited, blah, blah, blah.
And then they even mentioned like, oh, they're she's going to
a special doctor. You know, she's like, I can't
even go to a regular doctor. And then I'm like, I want a

(51:50):
series all about the special Doctor Who, like, specializes in
like half human half. Half right?
Is your baby like half scarecrow?
Like what? What's going on?
What's happening? I'm seeing nothing but but hey
like. Are you birthing like 1/2 stick
baby? That sounds painful, but I then
I was like Courtney, stop thinking about the logic.

(52:14):
But like it's I okay, I find it fun to think about the logic
because I think it can lead to like creative thoughts.
You know what I mean? Like it can lead.
Like you'll like it just like, kind of like, OK, well, if this
was there, that's kind of funny or like, that's weird.
And then like, OK, you have thatthought that's going to be in
the back of your brain. And then suddenly one day you're

(52:35):
going to need an idea and like, maybe something you had thought
about based on that, like comments, you know?
And it's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's cool.
Great. Yeah.
Thank you. Thank you for going down the
weird logic Rd. with me. Oh.
My God, I only. I always do it.
I'm just like surprised he knowshow to read.
Here's another logic thing that I really liked was OK in a lot

(52:59):
of romance novels, when a male character is like kind of self
describing his erection, it's he, they, they will use the
phrase like all the blood ran tomy Dick.
You know what I mean? Like my Dick filled with blood.
Like it's always like blood, blood.
And so when she discovers that he like can get an erection and
like, and then she asks him, do you have blood?

(53:20):
And, and this is like right, right after and he's like, or do
you bleed? He's like, no, I don't have
blood and I'm like they're goingto be a phrase of all the hay
went to my Dick. Seeing her in that blue dress.
Suddenly all the the the straw filled up my long Dick.

(53:41):
Damn. What a missed opportunity.
I know. And I'm like that, like that is
going to like that's going to stick with me for the rest of my
life. And I feel like I need to write
a scarecrow romance just to use that phrase.
Hey, went to my Dick. My God, they'll ask me if they

(54:01):
ever said if she ever said Scarecrow.
I'll miss you most of all. So that's from Wizard of Oz,
which I was like, oh, that couldhave been hot said in the
bedroom. I just feel like they were
specifically really not referencing Wizard of Oz or
anything like that. Yeah, but it's just like, it's
so hard not to because especially with like the moments
where he's like having a heart, having a burn, you know what I

(54:22):
mean? I mean, I guess with him, it's
the heart. And you, I always assume the
Scarecrow had a but it's just missing, missing a organ, I
guess. Isn't that right?
And you're not There is one partwhich I really like.
Delilah is like, really like, she's kind of starting to enjoy
the farm. She's like, there's a crow
called the Emissary that she calls red Eyes that she like,

(54:43):
kind of like befriends. And so Holostock sees her kind
of just like petting the bird. 1dime.
And he goes like Holostock glares at the bird, Red Eyes
chitters like an embarrassed child and flies off, brushing
off the dirt. I stand up.
You scare him away. That's my job.
And I'm like, great, I'm glad that moment was in there.

(55:07):
I was just doing my job. I I liked, yeah, I did enjoy the
holostock terms of just like very serious.
That makes me think of that partwhere.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I think it was during the dinner
where she's like saying how beautiful it is, and she says

(55:30):
it's like a fairy garden. It's beautiful.
And then he says. He turns at my voice, his eyes
ablaze. There are and will be no fairies
here. I laugh at his tone when I meet
his gaze. Of course not.
They are evil, malicious creatures making false promises.
OK, if you ever encounter one, run he's.

(55:55):
So mad. He's so mad.
So. Serious.
It's such a great section because they she thinks she, the
way she says fairy is FAIRY and he thinks it's like fairy
FAERIE, which are like two different kind of lore in a way.
Yeah, Yeah. And so I'm like, I loved that
moment. It was like fun to read.

(56:17):
Yeah, and I liked those little bits that were just like just
funny. Just like, oh, this is funny.
I don't. They don't need to be in here,
but this is making me laugh. OK, Courtney, I I could talk
about this book all day. I know, me too like.
I absolutely loved I I was like,I was honestly like blown away.
Like to see this kind of like magical lore take place in the

(56:41):
United States, 'cause I don't know, it just like feels like
this kind of stuff is like, well, this feels like, I don't
know, like Celtic Druid, I don'tknow, like, whatever.
Like it's like, no, America, we can have our own Crow kings and
Crow court. Like there is magic in this
land, folks. Like America, you know, I don't
know. The Heartland.

(57:03):
Yes, there's a reason it's the Heartland magic magic.
OK, I'm going to ask you for your final thoughts in a rating
and anything else you want to share.
OK, for the rating. I mean, obviously I was thinking
how many sewn on Dicks one out of five, five out of five or we
did not mention his Skype. He does walk around with the

(57:24):
Skype, so I don't know if the Skype needs he he has that Skype
with him all the time. Is that am I saying it right?
Skype. Scythe, Scythe.
I don't know, I thought it was scythe, but I listen, don't who?
Who? I don't know, we have to ask our
Scarecrow friends. Only hollow stock knows.
Yeah, that's true. You're both pronouncing it

(57:45):
wrong. How dare you?
It's. Pronounced cock.
Well, maybe we shouldn't write it on that.
Since yeah, let's yeah, let's doso non cocks.
I just feel like it's just so I've never read anything like
that and I it needs to be, oh boy, Courtney's put her thinking

(58:06):
cap on. Putting my putting my
Leatherface thinking cap back on.
Yeah, no, because you've got to be your true self when you're
giving a rating on the ScarecrowRomans.
You look great. Thank you.
OK, No, it's immediately hot. I this is.
How do you think Leatherface feels this world?
I mean 20% crazy, I mean. I'm now I see.

(58:29):
Now I see. OK, we're giving a rating on.
Rating. Zero to 5.
Sewn on Dicks. Burlap Dicks sewn on Dicks,
yeah. OK.
Yeah, I have burlap sewn on burlap.
They can be burlap if you would.Or I don't know what I was
picturing the burlap and my final thoughts yes, it's I

(58:51):
really just it was such a delight.
I had a great time reading it. I I really it's maybe the one of
the best things I've ever read, if I'm being quite honest.
I loved it and it set a high bar, quite frankly, for this you

(59:12):
and me on this show. It's.
Yes. I don't know how we're going to,
I don't know how we're going to top this.
We're not going. We're I just two humans?
That's ridiculous. I mean, I loved it from the
first page and even despite my little quibbles about get let's

(59:35):
get nasty or whatever, I thoughtit was great.
I love the slow burn aspect of it.
It was so hot. Love hollow stock.
It was funny. I just there was there was well
written. I just it it took unexpected
turns. Yeah.
I really just thought it was terrific.

(59:59):
One out of five. No, just kidding. 5 out of 5.
Courtney. Courtney.
Dorothy Davis. Courtney Leatherface.
Davis, it's a full 5. It's a 5.
How can I give it anything but 5I?
Thought I mean, I'm giving it 6 like I just.
I'm giving it 6 out of five. Yeah, even.
Like it's a 5 out of five. For sure.
Yeah. Like, I feel like I was

(01:00:21):
absolutely. Like, I felt the same way you
felt. And I've read these books before
of just like blown away of like, where is this going to go?
Like I love there was just so many like fun elements
incorporated into it. It wasn't just like nothing felt
like taking the easy way out, you know what I mean?
Like it was like just I love theworld.

(01:00:44):
I love the stakes. I loved him, obviously.
And I do think, I think that they're having really nasty sex.
Maybe they were having nasty sex.
It just wasn't on the page. You know, I bet you they were
doing some nasty shit, right? Yeah.
They'll get there, I mean. They'll get there.
They'll get there. They'll get there.

(01:01:05):
Oh yeah, get there. Turned back into I want him to
like, you know, I just wanted her to fuck him as like 1/2, you
know, I want her to fuck some sticks or something.
I don't. Know sure I mean I get it like
there what like I am sure that there is like right now like if
this like right now they're likein bed and she's like you want

(01:01:26):
to know something is this weird I'm going to tell you and he's
like you tell me anything partner and she's like I always
wanted to know what it was like like what would be like to fuck
you when you're just like a regular thingy and he's like
tomorrow night and then he like makes this beautiful yeah, he
prepared he makes this beautifuldinner for her.

(01:01:49):
Flowers, vegetables. Beautiful.
Everything and then they just, and it's like on the border of
the farm, you know, and they like step over.
She fucks, she fucks those sticks like she's always dreamed
of, and then they come back and they're like, this brought us
closer together, you know? Yes.

(01:02:10):
One thing I forgot to mention, they have like a scene where
they're compost. He's like teaching her how to
like do something in the dirt. There's like compost or
something. And I was like hot composting
for placing. Great.
Yes, yes, I was. Like no, the soil is wet and we
will plant or so they had these great lions.
So I was like, fucking hey, these are great lions.

(01:02:32):
They are he has just it is this book is very horny and and I
loved it. And they also like do after the
scene where she's tied up like the scarecrow, don't they?
They they summarize it, but it they do say they fuck in the
dirt. And I was like, OK, at least you
got like some, you know. Fuck dirt.

(01:02:54):
Yeah, it was like kind of like, and like, it was like.
And later that later that night after I pleasured her so many
times, she fell asleep in my arms.
And I thought this like it was like something like that.
Yeah, I that, that was nice. That was nice.
I yeah, I just wanted it to get a little down and dirtier.
I get it. I'm saying absolutely.
Listen, it's Halloween. This is what we want again.

(01:03:14):
I it's just, it's my minor quibbles.
I, you know, I, I can go read some of that real nasty trash
that we read earlier for some ofthat.
Real dirty stuff. Exactly.
This one's I feel like an epic romance that felt that took
place on like that only was between.

(01:03:37):
It was an epic romantic story between two people in a very
small, like localized place. But it felt so big, you know,
and I like love those things. I I had loved it.
Yeah. Oh, my God.
Well, Courtney and and, and Leatherface.

(01:03:58):
Courtney, Dorothy Davis once again, it was such a pleasure
having you on the show. Thank you, Leatherface.
Just if you can, leave that on for the rest of your life.
Oh my God, Becky, what a what a great time.
