Quantas espécies podem habitar o fundo do mar? Como é o oceano profundo e misterioso? Com o que sabemos sobre esse ecossistema que cobre cerca de 70% da Terra, conseguimos frear a ação humana a ponto de salvar o planeta? Essa temática vem sendo foco permanente de discussões. A Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, a Ciência e a Cultura, popularmente conhecida como Unesco, decidiu transformar esta na Década da Ciência Oceânica para o desenvolvimento sustentável. Na prática, isso significa que estamos vivendo um momento propício para falar da ciência que estuda o oceano e todos os seus possíveis desdobramentos.
Para falar sobre o tema, entrevistamos os professores da UFSC Paulo Horta, Tatiana Silva Leite e Alessandra Larissa Fonseca, três pesquisadores que estudam o oceano a partir de diferentes enfoques.
