(00:00):
Foreign.
This morning we're going to bein Acts chapter 10.
I'm going to be preaching amessage called There is more.
If you have a Bible, if youhave an iPhone, we're going to jump
into Acts chapter 10.
(00:21):
If you don't know me personally.
So good to meet you.
My name is Jeremiah Johnson.
I'm the apostolic leader ofthe Altar Church, the global movement
in Charlotte, North Carolina, traveling around and just really
extending the kingdom.
I really do believe that this summer.
Can you say this summer?
(00:43):
This summer is a summer ofgreater encounters.
I'm so grateful for theencounter that I had when I met Jesus
years ago.
But I truly believe that thereis fresh oil in the secret place
and every day that we live.
And this morning, we're goingto be looking at an encounter that
(01:06):
Peter had in the book of Acts, where the Lord began to take him
from one experience to another.
I'm going to pray for us this morning.
But I just want to make clearthat the greatest hindrance to a
next encounter in God isthinking you've already had it.
The greatest hindrance to anext encounter in God is thinking
(01:30):
you've already had it.
You might be like me, you grewup in the church or you've had some
kind of religious experience.
But there is a differencebetween knowing about God and knowing
God.
There is a difference betweenquoting scripture but then meeting
the man Jesus, who livesbetween the lines of Scripture.
(01:52):
A lot of people say, I knowthe Bible.
My question is, does the Bibleknow you?
And so we're going to believethis morning here in New Jersey and
all across the V1 family.
Fresh encounters.
Amen.
Father, thank you for this time.
In your word, Holy Spirit, release a spirit of wisdom and revelation
in the knowledge of who you are.
(02:13):
Lord, open up your word to us.
In Jesus name I pray.
Amen.
So Acts 1 through 9, a lot ofpeople are familiar with Acts 2 Pentecost.
Jesus told his disciples towait into the upper room for the
promise of the Father, wherethey would receive the baptism of
(02:36):
the Holy Spirit, where theybegin to speak in other tongues.
They are leading a NewTestament church, a new family of
believers.
And Acts 1 through 9, they'veseen the dead raised, they've seen
the lame walk, they have seenStephen stoned, they have seen Saul
(02:57):
turn to Paul.
A lot of tremendous HolySpirit activity.
And because Peter walked withJesus and he's leading, he's kind
of a veteran.
He is the most experienced.
But yet In Acts chapter 10,God is about to challenge him that
there is more.
(03:17):
So Acts chapter 10, verse 1.
There was a certain man atCaesarea named Cornelius, a centurion
of what was called the Italian Cohort.
He was a devout man, one whofeared God with all his household
and gave alms to the Jewish people.
He prayed to God continually.
(03:38):
About the ninth hour of theday, he sees in a vision an angel
of God who.
Who comes to him and says, cornelius.
Cornelius gazed at this angel, looking alarmed, and said, what is
it, Lord?
And he said, you, prayers andalms have ascended as a memorial
before God.
(03:59):
Now dispatch some men to Joppaand send for a man named Simon, who
is also called Peter.
He's staying with a certaintanner named Simon, whose house is
by the sea.
And when an angel who wasspeaking to him had departed, he
summoned to his servants, andI'm going to paraphrase here for
(04:19):
a minute, but Cornelius sendshis servants to go meet Peter.
And when they find Peter, he'sup on a rooftop and he's praying.
And in verse 10, it says thatPeter becomes hungry.
He wants something to eat.
While he's desiring somethingto eat, he falls into a trance, or
(04:41):
we might say, a vision.
And in this vision, he seesthe sky opened up, and he sees a
white sheet come down.
And on the sheet there arefour footed creatures and animals
and birds of the sky.
And in verse 13, he hears avoice that says, arise, Peter.
Kill and eat Peter.
(05:03):
And Peter's response, hedoesn't say something like, yes,
Lord, I already knew that was coming.
I've been around the block.
I followed Jesus.
In verse 13, he says, Never, Lord.
I have never eaten anything unclean.
And he hears a voice speak tohim three times.
(05:28):
It's important that werecognize the last time Peter was
in an upper room, it was Acts 2.
And in Acts 2, he sees tonguesof fire.
But now in Acts 10, when he'sin another upper room encounter,
he doesn't see tongues of fire.
He sees a white sheet.
(05:50):
And my point is this.
Too often we miss what God isdoing today because we want a repeat
performance of.
Of what he did yesterday.
I believe that Peter isstruggling with a fresh invitation
(06:11):
for a new encounter with Godbecause he is more focused on what's
familiar rather than on what's fresh.
And I believe this summer atV1 Church, and really all across
the earth, that God isinviting people into next level encounters.
(06:33):
We might have experienced himand beheld him in a certain way,
but we are in a new era in thechurch where no one is safe from
the love of God.
As much as I desire to See Godmove corporately.
I want to see him move in themarketplace as much as I believe
(06:56):
God for a move of God.
When we get together atchurch, I want to see God take crack
houses and send revival there.
Right?
I want to see school systems.
I want to see the government.
I want to see every sphere ofsociety invaded for a next level
encounter.
(07:16):
And I'm so grateful for theSunday gathering.
We need more Sunday gatherings.
But if what happens heredoesn't translate to Monday to Saturday,
we're just having a pep rally.
We're just having good church.
And for some of you thismorning, you need a paradigm shift.
(07:39):
Peter needs a paradigm shift.
He needs a new way to think.
He needs a new understandingconcerning the kingdom of God.
And for so long, for so manypeople who grew up in church, we
have this routine down, butyet our marriage is struggling.
(08:00):
We go through the motionsplaying church, but yet we don't
have a fresh fire on thealtars of our hearts.
So there's a fresh encounterthat God has for Peter.
I believe that there's a freshencounter for those of us who are
here in New Jersey, in Miami,in India, and all across the earth.
(08:25):
And one of the things that'sjust been stirring in my heart is
listen.
If God would come to Peter, arevival veteran, a man who had been
with Jesus, a man who had seenit all, if God would still come and
knock on his door in Acts 10and say, There is more, surely there's
none of us who are so pridefulto believe that we own the street
(08:50):
corner on revival.
Surely there's none of us thatare so prideful to think, well, I've
seen it all.
I've heard it all.
I know it all.
No, this is a season whereears haven't heard and eyes haven't
seen.
Our minds have not conceivedwhat God has for those who love him
and listen.
(09:10):
This is where the breakercomes in.
Because the breaker comes.
The anointing, Anointing ofthe Holy Spirit comes and it breaks
the yoke.
The resistance that we feel inthe atmosphere this morning, it's
religion.
The.
The resistance that we feel is.
It's routine.
(09:30):
It's going through the motions.
It's quoting scripture, butthe scripture doesn't have hold of
you.
It's saying, I went to church.
But apparently church didn'tfollow you to the club on Friday
night, right?
We're talking about lifestyle, Christianity.
(09:51):
We're talking about invitingthe Holy Spirit into every sphere
of our lives.
We're talking about what yousee is what you get.
God is driving hypocrisy outof the church today.
He's ripping off the mass.
He's the same God asyesterday, today and forever.
(10:14):
He's the God of Abraham, Isaacand Jacob.
He's the God of New Jersey.
He's the God of New York.
He's the God of every city in America.
And he is knocking on thedoors of hearts today saying, will
you let me in?
Will you let me confront your pride?
(10:35):
Will you let me break throughyour religious routine?
And I know for me, one of theways I can measure religiosity is
when's the last time I've cried?
Do you know that fresh tearsand prayer and worship are an indicator
(10:55):
of a soft heart toward God?
When's the last time we justbroke out of the box?
When's the last time weforgave someone who wronged us?
People are like, well, well, what is it?
Well, anger and bitterness and unforgiveness.
These are the things thatgrieve and quench the Holy Spirit.
(11:20):
For some of us, this freshencounter this summer is forgiving
our enemies.
For some of us this summer, mywife and I, we have three girls and
a boy.
Obviously they're out ofschool routines and things.
We're saying, you know what?
This summer we're going tohave a family worship night every
week.
I've got one daughter who's flagging.
(11:42):
I got one daughter who's onthe piano.
I got my boy Israel on the gym bay.
We're worshiping, we'repraying, we're breaking it open.
But guess what?
The same family who stewardssomething privately at home is the
same family who shows up onSunday because there's fresh encounters
(12:03):
that God has for.
For us.
When you look at thisencounter that Peter has for more,
he's seeing tongues of fire.
Now he's seeing a white sheetcome down.
And there are four footedcreatures and there are animals.
And what God is trying to sayto Peter theologically here is that
(12:25):
the gospel is not just for the Jew.
The gospel is for the Gentile.
God is inviting Peter.
So far, Acts 1 through 9, Godis bringing his spirit to the Jews.
But in Acts 10, something isbreaking open these four footed creatures.
(12:45):
And the animals, in the Jewishtradition, they were kosher, meaning
they did not eat anythingthat's unclean.
And I want you to hear me.
And I want you to hear me good.
God could have chosen and anyinstrument to introduce them to the
more.
But what God chooses to breakthem into their next is called offense.
(13:13):
I want to tell you this morning.
That offense is the door tothe more we've got to ask ourselves
this morning where or what arethe white sheets in our lives?
What are those things that areoff limits to God?
A lot of times again, peoplewe can give, we can share our faith,
(13:38):
but we won't give our money to God.
Some people love to give theirmoney to God, but they can't remember
the last time they sharedtheir faith with an unbeliever.
So if we're going to believeGod for next level encounters, we've
got to begin to say, Lord, where are our never lords?
(13:59):
Where are our white sheets?
Where are those things thatoffend us?
I'm just going to be honestwith you.
A lot of times the very peoplethat God has used to break me into
my next did not come in mypreferred package did not come.
(14:21):
So many people are crying outfor revival but they have a do not
disturb sign on the door oftheir heart.
Well, Lord, I'd really likeyou to come but I'm going to determine
when you come, how you comeand where you come.
That ain't God.
It's time to recognize.
(14:42):
We're the potter, he's sorry.
We're the clay and he's the potter.
And when we pray, pray fornext level encounters, we've just
got to be ready for any time anywhere.
I remember being in a seasonwhere it was like Lord, I'm hungry
for more.
The Lord brought a woman in my life.
(15:05):
He brought an Esther.
He brought wow.
I'd like to hear a man.
Do you want more of God or not?
Do you want a move of God?
Well, I don't like what they wear.
I don't like their ethnicity.
I don't like God doesn't careabout what we like.
God is concerned withconforming us into the image and
(15:27):
likeness of Jesus.
And I believe I'm Talking tothe V1 family who's hungry for more.
I believe I'm talking to somepeople in this place who are ready
to be disciples of Jesus Christ.
I'm talking to blood bought, sold out.
I'm talking to holy ghostfilled people.
(15:48):
I'm talking about people whoare ready to cast the devil out of
people.
I'm talking to people who are ready.
Who's ready to see the dead raised.
Who's ready to see the lame walk.
Listen, I haven't seen it yet,but I believe there's more.
I haven't seen it yet but I'mwilling to contend and and believe
(16:09):
for a move of God.
Somebody give Jesus praise I'mtelling you, something's breaking
this summer.
Something's opening up this summer.
One of my favorite storiescomes Azusa Street.
God is always taking people deeper.
You have a man named William Seymour.
(16:30):
He was an African American preacher.
William Seymour believed his Bible.
He believed in giving yourlife to Jesus, but he believed in
the baptism of the Holy Spiritwith evidence in tongues.
William Seymour is preachingit, but he hasn't yet received it.
You know how many people, oh,I won't preach on miracles because
(16:52):
I haven't got my miracle yet.
Sometimes it's you believingby faith in what the Bible says,
and sometimes it's someoneelse getting their miracle before
you get your miracle.
William Seymour is preachingon the baptism of the Holy Spirit
with tongues.
He hasn't received it yet, buthe gets word, hey, there's this guy
(17:15):
named Charles Parham.
He's in another state.
He preaches on the baptism, and he's got it.
William Seymour is hungry.
He knows there's a nextencounter that God has for him.
So he makes his way to themeeting where Charles Parham, a white
brother, is preaching.
(17:36):
And William Seymour knocks onthe door and says, hey, I'm here
for the baptism.
You know what they say to him?
You can't come in becauseyou're black.
He's met by a spirit of racism.
He's met by offense.
He's met with disappointment.
(17:57):
He's met with a good reason tojust walk away and say, no, thanks.
But I want to tell you thismorning, hunger looks like something.
Can you turn to your neighborreal quick and say, hunger looks
like something in Miami andIndiana and Long Island.
(18:19):
Hunger looks like something Brooklyn.
William Seymour, hungry for anext level encounter.
Listen to what he says to somestupid remark about his ethnicity.
He says, that's okay, I'll sitoutside and listen.
(18:43):
See, there was a hunger.
There was a desire for more ofJesus that was willing to overlook
offense.
He sits outside and receivesthe baptism.
I'm telling you folks, but.
But yes, you're justified inyour pain.
(19:05):
But some of us have torecognize our ability to press into.
The more our ability to beunaffected, offendable, the more
that God wants to pour out.
It's more than for just us.
It's for our children and ourchildren's children.
(19:28):
It's for generational legacy.
It's about Grandpa, theBaptist preacher who's praying in
his house one day, and all ofa sudden his English, something comes
out like Shandara Bosnia.
And he's like, what was that?
All of a sudden, Grandpa,Baptist preacher Who theologically
(19:52):
has been taught that the giftsof the Holy Spirit are no longer
for Today.
He's caught the baptism, buthe has a choice.
He's about to be persecuted bythe brethren.
He's about to be kicked out bythe elder because he has an experience
(20:12):
with God that they don't havea system for.
But if Grandpa were persevere,if Grandpa will press into the next,
all of a sudden his childrenand his children's children, he's
got a generational legacy ofthe things of God because he was
(20:34):
not willing to quit.
I feel a no quit anointingthis morning.
I feel a spirit ofperseverance this morning.
I feel like the Lord is sayingto some of you, you press through
that persecution.
I'm about to give you new friends.
I'm about to send you intospaces and places that don't feel
(20:56):
normal.
But I'm preparing you for your next.
Oh, I want to be unoffendable.
Oh, Lord, please send a moveof God to our city.
What happens if he sends it toanother church?
Are we humble enough to govisit and say, lord, I just want
(21:18):
some so I can take it backwhere I go?
Oh, Lord, we accuse, we persecute.
Folks, think about this.
Let me hit you with adifferent paradigm.
Think about Cornelius.
Cornelius is not a believer.
If you think about all thephenomenal activity in the early
(21:42):
church, God goes to a Roman centurion.
I want you to think Hollywood.
I want you to think about celebrity.
I want you to fill in the blank.
Whoever it is that I can throwout some names, but I might offend
you.
Who cares?
I don't know who it is.
Beyonce, Justin Bieber, Kanye, whoever your people are, God goes
(22:08):
outside of the church andknocks on the door of Cornelius house
and says, there is more.
God says, cornelius, send theboys to Peter's house because Peter
should know what's up.
(22:28):
Folks, what if God is doingsomething in America, in Hollywood?
What if God is doing somethingoutside the church?
And these people are about toknock on our doors.
They're about to say, will youlet me in?
I've had an encounter, I had adream, I've had a revelation.
(22:50):
And oh, gosh, let them notfind a people bound in routine.
Let them not find a Luke people.
Folks, we lukewarm people.
Folks, we need people who arehaving fresh next level encounters
in the world.
We need them to come into thehouse of God.
(23:11):
And we don't need them to comeinto fresh frozen chosen assembly
with Pastor Frigidaire.
No, we need them to come Intoa church on fire.
We need them to come into V1church, a remnant church.
We need them to come into V1New Jersey.
A church that's not playing games.
(23:32):
A church that has A churchthat has oil in their lamps.
Do you have oil in your lampthis morning or are you playing religious
games?
The earth is shaking.
You looking like I'm.
I am crazy.
The earth is shaking.
(23:55):
People are confused.
People are suicidal.
People are drugging out.
And they're just walking intochurch meeting a of bunch.
Bunch of bored, dry, staleChristians who don't even believe
the gospel they claim to live.
(24:20):
And I'm just here to declare.
Not on my watch.
Not on my watch in Charlotte,North Carolina, and as a brother
and friend of this house, I'vejust come along alongside of Apostle
Mike.
And I'm just here to declareover V1.
Not on our watch.
This will be a place that hasfresh oil.
(24:41):
This will be a place of NewTestament Christianity.
This will be a place of true discipleship.
This will be a place where.
Man, you can make fun of mydance, but you don't know my deliverance.
This will be a place wherewe're peculiar.
This will be a place wherewe're a little rowdy, but what you
see is what you get.
(25:02):
We don't do hypocrisy here.
We don't do lukewarmChristianity here.
We thank you for the mercy.
We thank you for the grace ofJesus Christ.
But the grace of God did notleave the prodigal in the pig slop.
The grace of God came anddelivered that prodigal out of his
(25:24):
pig slop.
I feel a spirit of deliverancehere today.
Some of you need to get delivered.
You need to get set free.
You need to answer the call tothe gospel before it's too late.
This is the hour to arise andshine in America.
This is not an hour to run and hide.
(25:46):
God did not deliver you fromdrugs so that you can sit in the
back pew and rot in church.
God delivered you from drugsso that you could go back to that
street where you were onceaddicted, where you were once bound.
God's called you as a holyghost deliverer.
(26:07):
It's time to step into it.
It's time to get hungry again.
I said it's time to get hungry again.
I'm hungry.
I'm hungry.
I'm hungry for a fresh move of God.
I'm hungry for a city to beturned upside down.
I reject.
(26:28):
Oh, it's a summer vacation.
Oh, it's a summer.
Oh, I'm just gonna play aroundand wonder why I got someone pregnant.
Oh, I'm just gonna.
Oh, how did that happen?
You must be sober.
You must be vigilant.
You must be on the alert.
I'm not gonna date a Delilah.
(26:49):
I'm not gonna hang out with a Jezebel.
We need a re.
We need a revelation ofkingdom relationships.
Well, I just hope they're saved.
It's just like now thestandard for who we're gonna date
and who we're gonna marry isjust a.
(27:11):
I hope they're saved.
Can I just implore you?
Can I exhort you to findsomebody who's not just saved, who
doesn't just have one foot inthe world and one foot.
Stop trying to find a spouseat church.
Find them in the prayer meeting.
I want to encourage you tofind someone who's not just born
(27:35):
again.
Find someone who's Holy Ghost filled.
Find someone who knows how to pray.
Find someone who wakes upearly because I promise you, when
that baby starts crying in themiddle of the night, I promise you
when bills are due and you'vegot no money, you need someone who's
more than saved.
(27:56):
You need someone who'sencountered the Holy Ghost.
You need someone who will pacethe floors of the living room and
pray in the Holy Ghost andcall forth provision.
You need someone who hasdominion over their flesh, who refuses
to look at pornography, whosays, I'm a man or woman of covenant.
(28:21):
I will not do compromise.
For all of you people who areway too serious this morning, by
the way, if they're Holy Ghostfilled and speaking in tongues, they'll
be a better kisser.
(29:50):
You like me a little bitbetter now, folks?
Some of you.
There's a spirit of agitation here.
You're like, what's going on?
The demons are mad.
The compromise is being exposed.
Shallow Christianity will notlast in the hour that we're entering
(30:13):
into.
In America, I'm telling you,V1 church is called as a flashpoint
in America.
V1 church is called to be achurch of encounter where when people
enter into our meetings, theydon't even know what hit them.
All they can say is, Jesus.
(30:33):
I came in here one way, I lefta different way.
I didn't just pray a prayer.
Jesus came and made himself ahome inside of me.
I didn't just get saved.
I got filled with the Holy Ghost.
I didn't just get filled withthe Holy Ghost.
I learned how to cast demonsout of people.
(30:55):
I didn't just keep coming backfor deliverance after deliverance.
I learned how to get discipled.
Because not everything is a demon.
You need to learn how to get discipled.
And when you learn how to getdiscipled, you enter into dominion,
baby.
I'm talking about deliverance.
(31:16):
I'm talking aboutdiscipleship, and then I'm talking
about dominion.
We need a people in New Jerseywho have learned how to take authority
over the evil one, who havesaid, lord, I'm so grateful for what
you've done, but I'm hungryfor more.
(31:36):
There's a gift of provocationhere this morning.
Holy provoking.
God is provoking you beyondcomplacency and apathy.
God is calling you out of the shallows.
God is calling you, callingyou out of the shadows.
I'm telling you, the devil isshaking in his boots.
(32:01):
God.
The devil is not afraid ofpeople who go to church.
The devil is afraid of peoplewho have learned how to live in Christ.
Peter goes to Cornelius House.
He recognizes the gospel isnot just for the Jews.
(32:24):
The gospel's for the Gentiles.
You and I today, unless you'reJewish, you and I today are saved
because of Peter's yes.
I want to close this morningby just laying it out there for you.
What I sense in my heart isthat the Lord is desiring a friend.
(32:46):
Fresh yes on the altar of our hearts.
But we must recognize that ouryes to more of Jesus.
For some of you, you need togive your life to Jesus.
You need to stop playing games.
If you were to die tonight andyou're not sure where you would spend
(33:07):
eternity, I want to encourageyou today to surrender your life,
life to Jesus, to put yourfaith in him.
But there's something in theatmosphere today.
I sense it over all the campuses.
This yes is about more than apersonal yes.
Cornelius and his entirehousehold was saved.
(33:33):
We're going to see household salvations.
We're to going.
We're going to ha.
Feel it.
We're going to see entireworkplaces invaded by the Holy Ghost.
We're going to see believersstep out in faith to break.
Listen, I know sometimes we'restuck in sin and we need to.
(33:56):
But sometimes we're stuck in routine.
We're stuck in the motions.
We're stuck in playing church.
And the Lord loves us too muchto leave us the way that he found
us.
God is so kind and so goodthat he knocks and he knocks.
The question this morning is,will you answer?
(34:20):
Will you answer?
Will you rsvp?
Would you bow your heads withme in here in Miami and Indiana,
all across, Lord Jesus, youhave been.
Mightily in our midst this morning.
Your Holy Spirit has beentouching and moving and stirring
(34:41):
us.
I want to pray for two groupsof people.
One, you don't really know Jesus.
You know about him, but youdon't really know him.
Your lifestyle, your choicesare in direct opposition to what
(35:03):
you know surrender to Jesuslooks like, but you to sense the
mercy of God.
The grace of God inviting youto trust in Jesus to make sure that
your eternity is secure.
There's anyone here that.
That wants to respond to beingborn again.
(35:26):
Maybe you've been away fromthe Lord.
You need to rededicate your life.
That that's you.
Just want you to raise your hand.
Thank you.
Who else?
Thank you.
Thank you.
All of heaven is rejoicing.
Thank you.
Greatest miracle of all.
Who else?
(36:31):
Thank you.
All over the campuses, God is moving.
The Holy Spirit's knocking onthe door saying shut that door to
sin.
Delete that phone number.
End that relationship.
I'm moving this summer.
I'm inviting you this summer.
(36:52):
If you've raised your hand, want to encourage you right where
you're at to understand thatall, all of us fall short of the
glory of God.
Bible says the wages of sin isdeath, but the gift of God is eternal
life.
(37:13):
Confess your sins to Jesusthis morning.
Turn away from them.
Put your faith in God.
