(00:25):
None. Hey everyone, welcome back to
the Vigilante 1929 podcast. I am 1/3 of the coast here in
(00:48):
Xenic and I am back with anotherfilm review.
I am talking about one of my most anticipated of the summer
of the entire year. I am talking about Joseph
Kaczynski's F1. This movie is being distributed
by Warner Brothers and Apple Original Films.
I do want to thank Apple and Warner Brothers to for sending
me out to an early screening of this movie, very early screening
(01:09):
of this movie. And I'm going to waste no time
in those because I cannot wait to talk about F1.
And it's a blast. This movie is freaking awesome.
I'm not going to even like sugarcoat that.
This movie honestly feels like it is the epitome of all racing
movies up until this point. Not only is it one of the most
(01:30):
electrifying blockbusters I think I've ever seen in a really
long time, but I think it's one of the most electrifying
blockbusters ever made. I mean, this movie really
delivers on every level of filmmaking possible, whether
it's acting, whether it's technical crafts, whether it's
just the way that it's making you feel while you're inside the
theater. This movie, I'm going to talk
(01:52):
about the cast first and foremost.
It has a stellar cast. I mean, you have Brad Pitt, you
have Carrie Condon, you have Dampson Interest, you have
Javier Bardem, you have Shay Wingham.
So you have like a lot of reallyrecognizable people and you have
your classic Hollywood cast in amovie like this.
So the cast is unbelievable in this movie by Pitt terrific as
(02:14):
Sonny Hayes, who who's our lead racing driver, who's kind of the
old dog, the old timer who kind of went through a tragic
accident earlier in his racing career.
And now he's back many years later.
He gets his opportunity to chaseone shot at glory one last time
to really cement his legacy as one of the all time Formula One
(02:35):
racing driver. So the story is simple, it's
basic, it's straightforward, it's easy to follow and that's
definitely A+ in my book. This this movie I was never
bored in. I don't think you will as well.
But man, that the cast Carrie Condon.
She's great as like this pseudo love interest, but she's like
the smart mechanic that really holds the glue together on a
team. You have damnson interest Who's
(02:57):
the young hotshot driver, and hereally goes toe to toe with with
back pit in this movie, and he holds his own.
This kid's got some juice, man. I'm telling you, watch out for
this damn Synidis kid and Javier.
But as great as he always is, he's a he's a very reliable
actor. So you know you're going to get
a really great performance out of him.
And honestly, this movie really just feels like that classic
(03:19):
studio blockbuster that we just aren't getting any more.
We aren't getting as much as we used to.
And that's a testament to the kind of movie that Joe Kaczynski
wants you to make you feel like you are watching.
You know, obviously this guy didTop Gun Maverick and he
reinvented that movie The way that he made it so different
from Top Gun, but yet it kind oflike has similar tendencies of
(03:42):
that movie, right? So this movie feels a very much
like any racing movie that you might have seen, but it's just
so immersive and the racing scenes in this movie are
unbelievable. They are outstanding.
I mean like the point of view sort of filmmaking that you get
in these racing scenes. And the score by Hans Zimmer is
(04:02):
on real. It's so heart pounding.
I was like literally on the edgeof my seat the entire time.
The technical crafts not going to be it.
It's unbelievable. If everything, this movie is
going to track every box. If you are on the fence of
wanting to go see this movie, don't be because it is terrific.
You got great acting, you have great technical elements.
(04:23):
If the movie is loud and it's big and that's exactly how you
should see this movie, and that's exactly why it's a
blockbuster that deserves to be seen.
Though this is the kind of moviethat, much like the plot itself,
you kind of want to root for. You're rooting for everything to
go the way that it should in this movie, while the
(04:44):
storytelling in the plot is verystraightforward and it's very
formulaic because it's it's a sports movie, right?
So you're going to get a lot of the cliches and a lot of the
sports shops that that we've gotten many times over.
But it doesn't it doesn't reallyhave to be a knocking against
the movie. Yes, there are certain things
that might feel rush or they might feel convenient because
(05:04):
you got to get from point A to point B.
So the relationships you, you might feel like, you know, while
they're developed really, reallywell.
Some things might feel a little bit rushed and some things might
drag a little bit 'cause it is along movie.
But I was never bored. I never really felt the runtime
personally, and honestly, that last 30 to 45 minutes in this
movie I thought was just pure, utter cinematic perfection.
(05:27):
So while I do have some lip picsand I might have a flaw or two,
honestly, it doesn't even take away, which is how great this
movie made me feel. And the fact that I was sitting
in the theater watching a movie as immersive and incredible as
this movie reminds me why I loveblockbusters, you know?
And it reminds me why we need tokeep making more of these movies
(05:47):
outside of the superhero movies.Because a movie like this
deserves to be seen and it deserves your attention.
And no surprise, considering what Josh Kaczynski did with Top
Gun, I should have Top Gun Maverick.
I never doubted that he can deliver a spectacle on the
racing aspect. And while you could just say it
is Top Gun Maverick, but racing. And yeah, I would definitely
agree with that. But like, this movie is just
(06:10):
like, the epitome of what a studio blockbuster should aspire
to be in this modern, modern era.
So I have nothing but incrediblethings say about this movie.
It's going to leave you in awe. You should definitely go see it
with a group of people. Yes, it is.
It might be the ultimate dad movie for sure, but honestly,
(06:30):
this movie just it delivers. It's it's going to check every
box. You know, if you're if you're on
the fence and you're looking to go to go to a movie and just
looking for an experience, you know, you're looking to get your
money's worth. This movie is going to check
every box for you know, if you don't like racing movies just
doesn't really have to sway you away to be honest with you.
I think they do a good job at kind of putting you in the quote
(06:52):
on quote driver seat in terms ofwhat you need to expect in this
movie. You know, if you like Brad Pitt,
he delivers a really, really great solid performance.
And overall, it's just a movie that you that you need to be in
the theater and you need to justsit back, relax and enjoy the
vibe that it's ultimately going to take you on.
No pun intended on that one, butthat this movie is one of the
(07:14):
best movies that I've seen this year.
I could easily see this being inmy top ten of the year.
I just thought it was that damn good and I cannot wait to see
this movie again. So definitely go see it in IMAX,
see it in Dolby, see it on the big screen, see it big and loud
as I've said, and go enjoy F1 because this movie is
phenomenal. It's incredible.
(07:34):
You need to go see it. It's a blast at the summer, at
the summer movie season. So go check it out.
Those are my thoughts on F1 the movie.
I'm somewhere between like 8.59 and 1099 and 10.
I'm leaning more towards a nine.This movie's fantastic.
