(00:00):
Hey everyone, welcome back to the Vigil Internet Internet
Podcast. I am 1/3 of the close here and I
am back with another television review.
I'm going to be talking about the latest MCU Disney Plus
series, Iron Heart. Do you want to thank Marvel
Studios and Disney Plus for sending me all six episodes of
the series? A little bit early and I'm going
to cut right to the chase. I thought the series was really
(00:23):
fun. Obviously the show starts off a
little bit slow, so it does start off a little bit rough,
but I do do that. It ends strong and it sets up a
lot of cool things for the MCU moving forward.
I do deal with the strongest part of the series itself really
is the cast. You know, Dominic Doran is
really great as we were running.I think she holds her own and
(00:44):
she adds a lot of emotional depth to this character and she
really tries to expand the worldthat Tony Stark once created.
I think Lyric cost is really strong and she adds the
emotional backdrop to we, we Williams, you know, as her best
friend Natalie that is. And I think that Elden Eneric is
(01:05):
really strong as well. You know, those 3 characters, I
would really anchor the story and they give it the emotional
beats that it needs. And we were setting up things
and we're going back to places that I didn't think the MCU
remember to go back to. So it's it was really fun to see
some of those tie insurance. You know, you might do like that
Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme where you're like, oh, really?
(01:27):
OK, I didn't know. I didn't know that that was
still a thing. So you get a lot of that in this
series. I will say that I think the six
episodes format kind of limits all the ideas that the show
really wants to explore and kindof like all these different
avenues that the show goes down.I do think that if we had maybe
(01:48):
a few more episodes and maybe ifsome of the episodes were a
little bit longer, we could havespent a little bit more time
with this story and with these characters.
Because I think that the show has a lot of interesting things
it wants to say and it wants to offer.
You know, we have this idea of we we Williams being the the
complete opposite of Tony Stark. You know, Tony Stark had all the
(02:09):
resources, he had all the access, he had the privilege, he
had the money, you know, to build his tech.
So he was constantly, always evolving and he was almost
somebody that like he always hadthe answer because he's somebody
that had everything at his disposal.
Whereas we Williams is not that person.
You know, she is from Chicago. She got kicked out of her MIT
(02:32):
school. She is not somebody that is
rich. You know, she has to really work
her way up from the bottom up. So this idea that she wants to
be a good person, she wants to do the right thing.
She has the brains, she has the knowledge, but she doesn't have
the resources. And she results to all these
desperate measures to try to find out exactly who she is.
(02:53):
And she gets roped in some things that she doesn't want to
necessarily get roped into is a really interesting.
And I think that it is kind of like a refreshing change in
terms of the typical MCU origin story that we go on where the
hero just right away is on this like hero's journey.
And they don't they don't go through a whole lot.
(03:14):
And they're kind of just who they are, who they're meant to
be. So I thought that where we do
where we do go with Leelee Williams in this show was a
refreshing change. And I do think that exploring
the avenue, going down the lane of mixing magic with technology
was an interesting lane to go down.
(03:34):
And I do, and I do wish we wouldhave kind of explored a little
bit more down that lane. But that is also not to say that
the magic in what gets set up inthis series was really cool.
I think that the finale in this series is actually one of the
coolest things that the MCU has ever done, and it's certainly
(03:55):
one of the best MCU Disney Plus finales I think I've seen
personally. There is a really cool character
reveal that fans have been clamoring for and I've been
teasing for the longest time. Not going to spoil who that is,
but it was really cool to see this character.
And I think that once fans know who this character is, they're
going to be locked in. And I think that the tease, the
(04:18):
ending that we get in the show, I hope really pays off because
it sets up something really cool, really unique and really
fascinating. So would certainly love to see
the character of Lewis Williams return and I do hope that what
they set up at the end has a payoff down the line, but that's
where land on on Ironheart. So while the show itself might
(04:39):
be a bit flawed, there's a lot of emotion in this show and I
think there's a lot to latch on to.
And I think that once we get to the ending, the finale, the back
half of the series, I think is going to be really enjoyable and
I think is where fans are going to get the most fun out of.
So it's certainly welcome to season 2.
I do hope we see we Williams again really soon.
(05:02):
But those are my thoughts on Ironheart.
Pleasantly enjoy the series. It took me a bit to fully get
into it, but I do that where we end off leaves me wanting more.
So follow me on Twitter and Letterbox at Nixonic.
And of course I will catch you all in the next film or TV
review soon. Peace.
