(00:00):
Hey everyone, welcome back to the Vigilante Nights at 39
podcast. I am 1/3 of the colors here, ***
and *** and I am back with my out of fader reaction to
Universal Pictures Megan 2 PointO.
This is a sequel to the first Megan movie.
We have the same director, Gerardo Johnstone back at the
helm and I'm going to cut right to the chase with this one.
(00:21):
I found this to be a hilarious time at the movies.
If you like the first Megan, this one pretty much double s
down on everything the first Megan movie did.
It's more campy, it's more action-packed, and it kind of
ditches the horror aspect and leans more sci-fi than the first
movie ever did. While the sequel might not be as
(00:43):
flashy or new or refreshing as the first movie was, I thought
that this movie might as well have just been called M2
Judgement Day because man does this take so many cues and digs
at Terminator 2 Judgement Day. Not that I'm giving that a knock
because it really does it in like a satirical way and it's
really funny and it's meant to like make the audience gag.
(01:07):
This movie really does double down on everything the first
movie did because it goes biggerand it really evolves the
concept of what Megan is. And this whole whole idea of
artificial intelligence eventually inevitably going to
play a much bigger role in all of our lives.
And its idea of whether or not we as human beings can still
(01:30):
neutralize technology and use itto our advantage or whether or
not technology is going to continue kind of its own.
So this idea that the existential danger of technology
and how it continues to evolve and impact our everyday lives is
kind of develop in this more satirical way.
(01:50):
I do that. It has a lot to say in terms of
how society continues to view technology and how it continues
to want to use it for its own advantage in its own game.
So while the movie itself might be a little bit longer than it
needs to be, I do think that it gets the job done.
And once the character of Megan is inserted back into the
(02:11):
equation, I think that she's back with this family that she
tried to kill in the first movie.
I think that that's where the movie is going to soar, and
that's where the movie's going to take off.
And if you like the character ofMegan, you like everything she
was all about. She's back, bigger and better
than ever. She has a needle drop in the
middle of this movie that my theater erupted, and I hope
(02:31):
yours does too because it was probably my favorite part of the
whole movie. But honestly, this is a movie
where marketing tells you exactly what you're going to
get, so you shouldn't expect anything more than what the
marketing is telling you. If you like the first Megan
movie, I think that you're goingto like this one as well.
It gets the job done just enoughand this is pure popcorn
entertainment. You watch something like this on
(02:54):
a Friday night, you watch it with a group of people and you
just go to see what crazy thingsMegan is going to cook up this
time. So I I dug this movie, even
though I have a lot of flaw, it has some flaws with it.
The technology dialogue might feel a little bit stilted and
might feel a little bit disjointed.
You might say to yourself, people don't talk like that in
(03:14):
real life. And I might perfectly understand
that. It kind of felt that way to me
as well. But where the movie really does
soar is Megan is the action and the kind of stat higher that it
kind of has on artificial intelligence and technology.
It's kind of done in a unique way.
(03:35):
So while I still might prefer the first movie just because it
was more entertaining and more refreshing, I thought that this
is still a worthy enough sequel. And I had enough fun with this
movie. What a PAC crowd.
Had a lot of laughs, had a fun time and that's what you're
going to get with Megan 2 point O Hopefully if you go check out
the movie and you enjoy it as well.
(03:57):
