Speaker 1 (00:09):
Welcome to
Watermark's Church Leadership
Podcast, a conversation withchurch leaders for church
leaders. I'm your host, JohnMagee. Thanks so much for
joining us today. White friends, this is the last episode of the
year, and I wanted you to knowit has been an absolute joy, to
serve you, to, pray for you, toplan, for you. We've seen this
podcast downloaded in over a 150countries this year, which is so
(00:33):
fun.
And I know many of the peoplewho listen. They are pastors who
are doing really amazing things.People who are, leading and
serving in nonprofits, businessleaders who are chasing things
that are much, much bigger thanthe bottom line. And one of the
things that's really common ofeverybody, who listens to this
podcast is that they are livingtheir lives in service of
(00:54):
others. Service to Christ andservice, of others.
And, I just wanted to saythanks. And so I don't know if
anybody's looked you in the eye, recently and told you, but I
just wanted to tell you, thankyou for what you've done. And,
thank you for the things thatyou've done publicly, the things
the talks you've given, the, youknow, the the programs and
things that you've created andbrought to life, for the hard,
(01:18):
thoughtful decisions you'vemade. Maybe the ways that you
were misunderstood, at timesthis year. I think about that
quote often, leadership is acommitment to being
misunderstood.
And you've done things that arethe best, for others and for
your organization that maybepeople didn't like, and they
didn't tell you thank you. I Ijust wanna say thanks. Thanks
for working on yourself, for notjust being okay with, what you
(01:41):
know and who you are, but alwaystrying to get better, always
learning, always growing, andthe ways that's inspired other
people and, and really made youmore effective at whatever it
is, that God's given you to do.And I think if I really wanted
to highlight something, I wannasay thanks for all the things
you did that no one else saw.And I used to think about
(02:02):
leadership as being primarilyabove the waterline that things
that people would see and peoplethat, would notice.
And, and what I've realized ismost of leadership has lived
below the waterline. It's thoseconversations that are just 1 on
1, they're little microinteractions that you could have
or not have, but you chose tohave. And you listened, with
(02:23):
empathy. It's the emails thatyou wrote that one person saw.
It's the the people that youprayed for, that you didn't even
let them know that you did, prayfor them.
It's the, it's the things youdid, in very anonymous ways and
you brought no attention toyourself. And no one even knows
to tell you thank you becausethey didn't see, but I want you
(02:45):
to be reminded that God saw. Godsaw every single thing that you
did, and it wasn't lost. Therewas no wasted steps. And so for
all those things, all thosethings that no one else saw,
that only you and God know, Ijust wanna say thanks.
And, thank you for living yourlife the way that you live in
humility, and service to others.I do hear many stories about the
(03:08):
ways our listeners love, lead, and serve others, and it always,
always inspires me. So friends,I I pray, at the end of the
year, you will have a fewmoments at some point, during
the craziness of of theholidays, just to sit back and
be grateful for the ways, thatGod used you. Whether whether
anyone told you thanks or not, that you would just be grateful,
(03:31):
that in his sovereignty, heallowed you to be a part of his
kingdom plan. And I pray thatwould give you, a lot of joy.
And then I pray when you plugback in, on January 2nd
probably, that you would have arenewed vision, not to, you
know, somehow completely changethe world, but just to be
faithful, in this next season. That this next year would find
(03:52):
you faithful, again, that youwould know the next wise steps
to take in your leadership oryour organization or however it
is that you're leading andserving, and you would be
excited. You would be gratefulfor the opportunity you have. So
friends, Merry Christmas. I hopeyou have a happy new year.
And again, on behalf of myselfand the entire team at Watermark
(04:12):
Resources, thank you so much forthe ways that you loved and led
and served this year. God blessyou. We'll talk to you again
next year.
