We just found out there's an effects section of the pod meeting.

recorded because four of the five of us are in one bed right now. I mean, not in the bed.

We're talking about the D23 Expo. We decided that the four of us have been out
here for, at this point, a week.
And we have a lot to talk about. I felt like we lived here.
I think we remember being in Pennsylvania at this point. We are recording this

right after the Disney 23 Horizons Parks panel wrapped at the Honda Center.
Like, right after. 10.04 p.m. Pacific.
It should be said that we are waking up bright and early to fly back to the
East Coast. and we are dying to just really just tear through this,
but we felt it necessary to give you guys the highlights and our takeaways.

That being said, we are going to do a trip review on our next episode.
We'll get more into what we did this week, but we truly wanted to focus all
on like the parks news that was just announced tonight.
You're getting a quick and dirty review and highlights.
Okay. So Rob, do you want to like- Yeah, so I'm going to use Scott,
and we've referred to him on the pod plenty of times.

Yeah. Screenshots and just quick synopsis. So they do a bunch of entertaining things.
First thing they announce is Disneyland 70th coming up.
And the first thing they talk about is Avatar coming to Disneyland Resorts.

So we get Avatar coming to Disney California Adventure.
That was the extent of it. Yeah, it looked like a way of water thing.
It's based on way of water and is not going to be the same as Orlando,
which seems it's going to be like a water-based ride, which is not.

then we stay at california adventure and we're gonna get a coco ride breaking ground in 2026.

And correct me if I'm wrong, concept art for this also looked like a water ride.

We're getting a lot of animatronics, so that's cool.
So we do not have that in Caballeros. But it looks like a slow-moving boat ride.

you saw the Elsa, the new animatronic. Very impressive.

We're getting Disney Starlight, a new nighttime parade.

and Kanto, Frozen, and more. Are you sure summer 2024?
That would be our soonest like implementation if that is true because I don't
think anything's sooner than
that except for like Tiana in Disneyland is going to be sooner than that.

Okay so yeah then the next thing was the walt animatronic coming to disneyland
park so that's going to be in the spot where great moments of mr lincoln and
and interestingly so like for the when they first debut it i don't know if they said for how long,

it's just going to be the wall like i don't know what the name is but it's essentially,
walt is going to be addressing an audience talking about disneyland presumably
then after a specified period of time, then it's going to switch back and forth.
It's going to be seasonal where it's like sometimes it'll be Walt,
sometimes it'll be back to Lincoln.
So the quote from the tweet is, the first ever Walt Disney audio animatronic

is coming to Disneyland.
Walt Disney, A Magical Life, will debut inside Main Street Opera House in rotation

The Mayan temple is the indie stuff. And then people are like,
oh, we understand what the other attraction is going to be. Like, it was pretty obvious.

Work will be in phases to make sure fans can enjoy Dinosaur.

It seems like maybe they're not going to work on Dinosaur, the Indie ride first.
Maybe they'll do the Encanto ride first.
Which brings us to Encanto, right? So I'm trying to read through here.
They're saying tropical Americas will open in 2027.
The entire land opens in 2027 and the work will be done in phases,

which means work should start first on Encanto.
The carousel and land in Dinosaur will likely close later.
So they're going to roll this out in phases. Well, yes, and also they're going
to showcase as part of this the Encanto house.
And they did go into some details about the ride, about like...

It's the day that... The kid gets his... Emilio gets his powers that he can
talk to animals, so you're going to go through the house. It sounds awesome.

It is a wasteland. And they're also adding a carousel. They're changing it to
something Esperanza, Via Esperanza, something like that. Yeah.
We're going to have a whole new archway. Big dining area. They were talking about this.

which is like not really like they've had suspended coasters since Batman the

I'm saying spectacular. I'm saying Grand Avenue. I think they're taking out Muppets 3D.

Right now, you have Star Tours as the adventure continues in this island unto
itself, right? And then in between that, you have the Muppets Pavilion,
you have Mama Melrose, and you have a bit of Grand Avenue.

And then it goes into Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. So the whole thing is like,
you're thinking like, wouldn't they want to expand more Star Wars stuff there
to fit the continuity, right?
Although, you already have a Pixar land where you have Slinky Dog Coaster and
the other various stuff, Toy Story Mania.

Wouldn't it make more sense thematically for that to be an extension of that
and just build backwards that's Toy Story,
that's totally separate so the Toy Story land you don't think that Monsters Inc land is unless,
nor they could put it Launch Bay, that's a huge empty spot, there is nothing

over there in between Rock and Roller Coaster and One Man's Dream That whole area is open. Right.

Cars is coming to Frontierland and Magic Kingdom. Two new attractions.
Construction will start early next year. Second attraction will be targeted
at younger children and families.

So then we get the whole Marvel stuff.
This is the parlaying to Marvel stuff I always like to point out some of the
things that it's like oh we might get it at some point down the line they did
announce a Spider-Man roller coaster in Shanghai Disneyland I know we were good

oh yeah there was a bunch of international stuff like the concept art like pretty,
amazing like if that goes down the pike at some point pretty cool.
Yeah, then we get Avengers Campus news, right?
So we get the first one, which is because on here.
So the first attraction we get is Avengers, colon, Infinity Defense.

Avengers, colon. No, it's a colon.
No, it's just funnier if it's called Avengers, colon. Yeah. Infinity Defense.
Especially with Ant-Man's colon. Yeah. It's either real big or real small.
And so this is the e-ticket that's been taking up so much real estate.
And let's just skip to the freaking the meat and potatoes of this.

They showed the ride vehicle.
They showcased that on the exhibition floor on day one.
It looks very similar to the ride vehicles that Universal has used on their
Spider-Man ride and Transformers ride.
And they're like, you're going to be able to see it.
You're going to to be able to see us working on it

to be able to see you starting to work on
it by next year this has been sitting
dormant for like five years this
is that's insane like what is what is
the hold up and so like it's just
insane and it's the same thing like nothing is thematically changed

be you're gonna be freaking zipping through jump points with
king thanos and oh man wacky worlds
and storytelling and robert downey jr and so to placate us from being like okay

be another ride so they're like we're doing a fourth ride to which catherine
immediately was like and i was thinking it's So you're just like, wait,
fourth ride? What's the third ride?
And it's Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout. And then you've got the Spider-Man ride.

That really huge space, like the Animation Academy, where Tarot Top-Up crashes.
You know that huge room that's just in the air conditioning?
Yeah. I love that. I hope they don't take that away. I unfortunately just don't
know enough of that. That's cool.

Yes. Great word. To really analyze what they announced. Again,
it's speculation on where these things are all going because they didn't get specific.
They didn't show like diagrams of where they would go in the place.
They showed a jump point for these, I guess.
They surely did show a jump point, but let's talk about what this fourth ride is.

The fourth one is called Stark Flight Lab, and they show a picture of new technology.
No, but they keep saying new technology. They show a picture of a friend of the pod, Bob Iger.

vehicle looks like they're two to a c and
then you have like a robotic arm and it's like swinging
and going kind of inverted like you know how you know
how mission space like even though mission space has
four people across picture two but it's open and
there's a robotic arm that's like freely moving and kind of like spinning around

it looks kind of intense and so they showed bob eiger in there and then they're
like oh and he had to call buddy robert downey jr and they picked the most unflattering
still of robert downey jr riding this spot bob's.
Photogenic as ever and robert downey he has the like like i just dropped the

Robert Downey Jr. looks ridden hard and put away wet riding the prototype of this ride.
This, that, that ride vehicle, harness, everything, that indicates, like, an inversion.

Well, before they showed this still picture of Bob in it, they were showing video.
