[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (00:01):
It is the first podcast
of the month in August. Wait, Dana, did you
raise your hand? Do
you have something to say?
[Dana] (00:07):
No, sorry. Sorry, I was adjusting my
headphones.
[Kelly Matkovich] (00:10):
Thank you.
[Dana] (00:12):
But
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (00:12):
It's
[Dana] (00:12):
I
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (00:12):
gonna go
[Dana] (00:12):
do
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (00:13):
well.
[Dana] (00:13):
like that I could raise my hand at any
time and stop
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (00:15):
any moment.
[Dana] (00:15):
this podcast.
[Kelly Matkovich] (00:18):
De-railed already.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (00:20):
Yeah, derailed. That's
cool. First podcast of the month and the last
podcast of season eight
of the show. We got goals and we are coming
at you to share some
things we're thinking about. We will shoot
the breeze as well.
We'll just mostly try to crack each other up.
And by the way, I'm
Jeannie Anderson Cohen. I am the founder and
CEO of A Sweat Life
and joining me today is Kelly McEvich who leads
(00:41):
our community. and Dana
Farber who runs Moonstone Marketing and works
with The Sweat Life
on all things content and social media. Hello
and welcome to the podcast,
friends.
[Dana] (00:51):
So loud!
[Kelly Matkovich] (00:53):
Hello.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (00:54):
I'm working
[Kelly Matkovich] (00:55):
Did you,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (00:55):
on my
[Kelly Matkovich] (00:55):
what
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (00:55):
accents.
[Kelly Matkovich] (00:55):
accent did you just
[Dana] (00:56):
I like
[Kelly Matkovich] (00:56):
go into?
[Dana] (00:57):
it.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (00:58):
It was kind of like
Eastern European.
[Dana] (01:00):
Yeah, just big. Just big. Movie villain.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:03):
Yeah. Why
[Kelly Matkovich] (01:04):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:04):
are movie villains always
Russian, by the way? Like give them a break.
[Dana] (01:08):
Should we?
[Kelly Matkovich] (01:09):
I'm sorry.
[Dana] (01:09):
Should we give them a break?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:12):
That's big question.
Big question. A lot of good, a
[Dana] (01:15):
not
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:15):
lot
[Dana] (01:15):
the
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:15):
of
[Dana] (01:15):
topic
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:15):
good.
[Dana] (01:16):
of today's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:16):
Not on the podcast,
[Dana] (01:16):
podcast.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:17):
not on the podcast.
Dana got canceled today.
[Dana] (01:19):
Oh,
[Kelly Matkovich] (01:19):
I'm
[Dana] (01:19):
I just
[Kelly Matkovich] (01:20):
going
[Dana] (01:20):
got turned
[Kelly Matkovich] (01:20):
to
[Dana] (01:20):
around.
[Kelly Matkovich] (01:20):
go.
[Dana] (01:21):
I'm sorry.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:22):
She just, she was confused.
She didn't mean to. She would never knowingly
say that.
[Dana] (01:26):
Never.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:27):
We always start every
day at a sweat life with one good thing, but
before we get into one
good thing, what's everybody drinking? What's
the beverage on your
desk?
[Dana] (01:39):
It's got Brew Doctor, Prickly Pear,
Cabocha.
[Kelly Matkovich] (01:43):
Ooh,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:43):
Mmm,
[Kelly Matkovich] (01:43):
prickly pear.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:44):
Kelly.
[Dana] (01:44):
I love Brew Doctor and I love their
branding. It's adorable.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:47):
It is very cute. We
can see it. It's pink and green. You can't
see it, podcast listeners,
but you can be jealous.
[Dana] (01:53):
But you
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:53):
Kelly,
[Dana] (01:53):
can imagine
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (01:53):
what do you have?
[Dana] (01:53):
it.
[Kelly Matkovich] (01:55):
I'm trying to drink more
water and I just, I don't like water, I like
water, but I don't love it.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (02:02):
I'm going
[Kelly Matkovich] (02:02):
And
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (02:02):
to go to
[Kelly Matkovich] (02:02):
so
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (02:02):
bed.
[Kelly Matkovich] (02:02):
I'm trying
[Dana] (02:03):
It's gonna
[Kelly Matkovich] (02:03):
to trick
[Dana] (02:03):
be the
[Kelly Matkovich] (02:03):
myself. Ha ha ha.
[Dana] (02:05):
tagline of this episode. Kelly, I don't
like water.
[Kelly Matkovich] (02:11):
And so I've been infusing
my water with cucumber by like making it concentrate
in my fridge like in a glass
and then I pour half of it into my glass
[Dana] (02:23):
Wow.
[Kelly Matkovich] (02:23):
and half regular water so
it's not overly cucumber-y. And I will say
it does make me drink more
water.
[Dana] (02:32):
I like that.
[Kelly Matkovich] (02:32):
So yeah.
[Dana] (02:32):
I like the concentrate.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (02:34):
Flavored water. Wow.
Very fancy.
[Dana] (02:37):
What are you drinking, Gina?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (02:39):
I made myself a little
iced oat milk latte
[Dana] (02:43):
Mmm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (02:43):
with my fancy coffee
machine. I always have a coffee in my hand.
I am constantly reminding
myself to drink more water. I did just go to
Miraval Resorts in the
Berkshires. Shout out to our friends at Miraval.
And they have fruit
infused water everywhere. And that really,
I was so hydrated the
whole time I was there. I only had one or two
(03:05):
coffees a day. Here
in Chicago at home, I drink six coffees a day.
That's
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:09):
you
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:09):
an exaggeration.
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:09):
drink a lot of coffee and
[Dana] (03:11):
That's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:11):
I
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:11):
it's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:11):
drink
[Dana] (03:11):
a lot
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:11):
a lot
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:11):
3
[Dana] (03:11):
of coffee.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:11):
of coffee.
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:12):
p.m central time that's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:14):
Yep.
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:14):
late for coffee.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:16):
Depends
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:17):
I also
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:17):
on who you
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:17):
just
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:17):
ask.
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:18):
I just booked Miraval Austin
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:23):
You're gonna have so
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:23):
so
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:23):
much
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:23):
I'm going
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:23):
fun!
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:24):
there in September. I know
I'm excited for
[Dana] (03:26):
Ooh,
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:26):
my birthday.
[Dana] (03:26):
that makes me
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:27):
For
[Dana] (03:27):
feel
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:27):
your
[Dana] (03:27):
like
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:27):
birthday!
[Dana] (03:28):
I want to book Miraval
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:30):
Hahaha
[Dana] (03:30):
Arizona
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:30):
I'm sorry.
[Dana] (03:31):
so that we can hit the trifecta.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:34):
Miraval, Arizona has
really great rates right now. This is not a
commercial
[Dana] (03:37):
Oh my god, this
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:38):
nor,
[Dana] (03:38):
is in fact not an
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:39):
Hahaha
[Dana] (03:39):
ad.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:40):
not an ad for Miraval,
but I did just look at the rates, which are
really good right now
because of the heat, but like everything's
in, you can
[Dana] (03:47):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:47):
stay inside the whole
time if you want. It's dry heat too.
[Dana] (03:51):
Yeah,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:52):
You're on the
[Dana] (03:52):
you
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:52):
mountains.
[Dana] (03:52):
can like set me on fire for like a good
vacation. That's fine.
[Kelly Matkovich] (03:56):
Hehehehehehe
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (03:58):
I mean, the world's
kind of on fire. Anyway,
[Dana] (04:00):
Yeah.
[Kelly Matkovich] (04:00):
Thank you.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (04:01):
we start every day at
a sweat life with one good thing. So Dana,
Kelly, what's good?
Let's start with you, Dana.
[Dana] (04:11):
I feel like it's a fun summer so far.
My goal, if anyone's been following my journey
on this podcast of wanting to have a
fun summer, I feel like that journey has been
achieved. It feels like it's been a
fun summer. I've done a lot of live music.
I saw Barbie earlier this week. My hot
take on Barbie that no one asked for is I really
enjoyed the movie. I might say the marketing.
was better than the movie. And I only say that
(04:35):
because my expectations were crazy high
because of the marketing, but it's one of those
things where I feel like they showed
kind of the best parts of the movie in the
marketing. So just know that I thought
it was a great movie, like great, but I still
think marketing was like what we're
gonna be talking about for years to come more
than
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (04:55):
Mm,
[Dana] (04:55):
the movie
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (04:55):
Greta
[Kelly Matkovich] (04:55):
Say
[Dana] (04:56):
itself.
[Kelly Matkovich] (04:56):
hey.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (04:56):
Gerwig. Get her on the
phone.
[Dana] (04:59):
Haha
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (05:01):
Kelly, what's good?
[Kelly Matkovich] (05:04):
talk about something I talk
a lot about but hiking big mountains. I am
in an area where we're surrounded
by 14ers and what 14ers are mountains over
14,000 elevation and this
weekend we're gonna hike Mount Massive. It's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (05:25):
What
[Kelly Matkovich] (05:25):
a massive
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (05:25):
a name.
[Kelly Matkovich] (05:25):
mountain, I know. So it'll
be my first 14er this summer. I feel like summer's
flying and I haven't done
one yet. So we have a group of us that are
going. It's so much more
fun to do with friends because it is a day.
It is challenging.
[Dana] (05:39):
So wait, what's a fourteener?
[Kelly Matkovich] (05:40):
It's hard.
[Dana] (05:41):
Does that mean 14 hours or 14
[Kelly Matkovich] (05:44):
No, I mean, it's 14,000,
[Dana] (05:45):
days?
[Kelly Matkovich] (05:46):
14,000
[Dana] (05:47):
No.
[Kelly Matkovich] (05:47):
elevation, like the height.
Yeah, so you are
[Dana] (05:50):
Wow.
[Kelly Matkovich] (05:50):
at like sea level in Chicago.
Okay.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (05:53):
500 feet, Kelly.
[Dana] (05:57):
Oh wow, that's a lot.
[Kelly Matkovich] (05:59):
It's a lot. So the path we're
taking is seven miles, which doesn't seem like
that crazy, but it's about
4,000 elevation gain. And I know before I lived
in Colorado, I didn't really
have a concept of. elevation game like really
meant nothing to me. That's
like it's a lot. It's like a thousand per mile
basically and then so you're
just going straight up a mountain. It'll
[Dana] (06:21):
That
[Kelly Matkovich] (06:22):
take
[Dana] (06:22):
everything about that scares
[Kelly Matkovich] (06:24):
I'd say
[Dana] (06:24):
me so much.
[Kelly Matkovich] (06:25):
it would probably take us
like five or six hours maybe depending on how
much we break and I'm over
the bigger group and stuff so yeah but hiking
big mountains.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (06:35):
Is it gonna be hot?
[Kelly Matkovich] (06:37):
Yeah, but that's so you start
these hikes early, you start them at like,
try to get to the trailhead
at five or six a.m. Because it's hot and you
don't want to be on top of
a mountain when there's thunderstorms and a
lot of times there's afternoon
thunderstorms so that's a lot of people die.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (06:59):
Oh dear.
[Kelly Matkovich] (06:59):
Getting
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (06:59):
Oh dear.
[Kelly Matkovich] (07:00):
struck by lightning
[Dana] (07:00):
Well,
[Kelly Matkovich] (07:01):
so.
[Dana] (07:01):
it's interesting you say that because
I was in my mind thinking of all the ways that
I would die on that trip
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (07:06):
What?
[Dana] (07:06):
in general. Like wake up at six,
[Kelly Matkovich] (07:08):
No.
[Dana] (07:08):
I'm dead. Like get like already dead.
So
[Kelly Matkovich] (07:12):
Yeah.
[Dana] (07:12):
wait, I have a quick question, side
note tangent. I am not a bit hiker, but we'll
get more into hiking. My boyfriend really
likes hiking. And so we're going to Vermont,
we're going to the Green Mountains.
So that's going to be a lot of hiking. What
is your recommendation, Kelly? the best
hiking shoes or boots? That might be a
[Kelly Matkovich] (07:29):
Ooh.
[Dana] (07:29):
loaded
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (07:30):
Oh.
[Dana] (07:30):
question, but Gina too, obviously, but
I feel like, Kelly,
[Kelly Matkovich] (07:32):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (07:32):
I
[Dana] (07:32):
you've
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (07:32):
mean,
[Dana] (07:33):
done the work to
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (07:33):
Kelly
[Dana] (07:33):
now.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (07:34):
knows.
[Kelly Matkovich] (07:34):
It's such a preference. It's
like running shoes, you know, people have such
a preference, but I would
say, like, I always thought, oh, you need hiking
boots. I almost hike exclusively
in my trail runners. So
[Dana] (07:47):
Hmm
[Kelly Matkovich] (07:47):
I don't really hike in boots
anymore. Unless it's like winter time and we're
in snow, I'll be in like
more of a boot, but summertime, I would just
wear like a trail runner.
So I really like. trail shoes,
[Dana] (08:00):
Okay.
[Kelly Matkovich] (08:00):
but there's so many different
kind, but I think your feet get hot if they're
in like a full boot in the
summertime. So I go trail runner.
[Dana] (08:09):
Okay, so I don't need to buy a whole
new wardrobe to become a hiker is what you're
saying.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (08:14):
be
[Kelly Matkovich] (08:14):
Although
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (08:14):
close.
[Kelly Matkovich] (08:14):
it is fun.
[Dana] (08:15):
I was like, but can I? But can
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (08:17):
It can.
[Dana] (08:17):
I?
[Kelly Matkovich] (08:18):
I definitely run this line
of still like city fitness girl and like outdoorsy
girl. I'm not full granola.
I'm like on this line of like I want to look
cute but also like functional
[Dana] (08:29):
Yeah.
[Kelly Matkovich] (08:29):
and I feel like brands are
catching on to that. So it's not so like long
hiking shorts and you know
[Dana] (08:36):
Yeah,
[Kelly Matkovich] (08:36):
browns
[Dana] (08:37):
it's a very specific
[Kelly Matkovich] (08:37):
and boring
[Dana] (08:37):
look.
[Kelly Matkovich] (08:38):
and yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (08:40):
Yeah, also Puma has
a trail running shoe too,
[Kelly Matkovich] (08:45):
I'm sorry.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (08:46):
that you can rock on
the mountains. It should be a delight. I have
hiking boots that I
got to hike at Kelly's house, but that was
like more cold
[Dana] (08:58):
Yeah,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (08:58):
season.
[Dana] (08:58):
because I was immediately like, Saral
makes hiking boots, they're cute, but then
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (09:01):
Mm-hmm.
[Dana] (09:01):
I'm like, that's not functional, so.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (09:04):
Mm-mm.
[Dana] (09:04):
And too big in a bag to carry.
[Kelly Matkovich] (09:07):
I would say all the Instagram
girlies that do have like, Danner. like kind
of these old legacy brands
that are like, they look very cute, but I don't
know if they're necessarily
functional or feel good on your feet.
[Dana] (09:22):
Oh yeah, Timberland.
[Kelly Matkovich] (09:24):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (09:24):
And you also want to
break them in before you hike too, if you're
going
[Dana] (09:28):
Such
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (09:28):
to get
[Dana] (09:28):
a good
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (09:28):
a boot.
[Dana] (09:29):
pro
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (09:29):
Yeah,
[Dana] (09:29):
tip. Damn, okay,
[Kelly Matkovich] (09:31):
Yeah,
[Dana] (09:31):
good
[Kelly Matkovich] (09:31):
hike
[Dana] (09:31):
call.
[Kelly Matkovich] (09:31):
around Chicago with your
boots.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (09:34):
because they... Yeah,
elevation gain of 12.
[Dana] (09:40):
All right, Gina, what's yours?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (09:43):
I went to see Beyonce.
I mean, if you're confused about which Beyonce
it was, it's Beyonce,
Nolz Carter, mother of blue Ivy Carter, wife
of Jay-Z. She performed
at Soldier Field in Chicago. I went to the
Sunday show. It was
magical. It was nonstop action. There was a
(10:04):
giant horse. The horse's
name is, I found out, someone on Instagram
told me. Ruh-nay, like
R-E dash, like nay, like what a horse says,
like
[Dana] (10:16):
Ha
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (10:16):
nay,
[Dana] (10:16):
ha ha.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (10:18):
I love it. But the show
was like top five moments of, not top five
concerts, top five moments
of my life. It
[Dana] (10:26):
Oh wow.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (10:26):
was
[Kelly Matkovich] (10:26):
Dang.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (10:27):
really good.
[Kelly Matkovich] (10:29):
Did you cry
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (10:30):
I
[Kelly Matkovich] (10:30):
at
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (10:30):
cried,
[Kelly Matkovich] (10:30):
all? Okay, yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (10:31):
I
[Kelly Matkovich] (10:31):
Ha
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (10:31):
cried,
[Kelly Matkovich] (10:31):
ha ha.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (10:32):
yeah, for sure. The
second she came on stage, I cried. And she
just seemed, she's really
obviously like a great performer, but she seemed
Like it was truly a
joy to be performing.
[Dana] (10:45):
I feel like that's a real talent if
you can make every like everyone in the audience
feel like oh she's happy to be here.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (10:52):
She's having fun,
[Dana] (10:53):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (10:55):
which I loved. One time
I saw Tyler the Creator perform at Coloring
Book, Chance the Rapper's
show that he hosted in Chicago, which was an
awesome show, but Tyler
the Creator seemed like it was a burden to
be there and I'll never
forget that. Even though he's a great performer,
the whole time I was
like, he does not wanna be here, but I think
(11:17):
he was pissed because
Kanye interrupted his set. Kanye
[Dana] (11:20):
Kanye does
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (11:21):
B.
[Dana] (11:21):
tend to interrupt
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (11:21):
interrupting.
[Dana] (11:22):
things. Yeah,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (11:23):
Yeah.
[Dana] (11:23):
it's kind of a slang.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (11:25):
We don't play Kanye
in this house anymore. So he's not interrupting
anyone.
[Dana] (11:28):
Mm-mm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (11:29):
But my good thing is
Beyonce. Okay, let's get into it. We all have
a topic to dig into.
I'm not going to give them away this week.
I'm going to let everyone
reveal their own topic, which means I'm improving
at my job. Kelly, would
you like to go first?
[Kelly Matkovich] (11:46):
Sure, and now that I'm looking
at my topic, I feel like it's gonna be a bunch
of mini topics, but I couldn't
exactly think of a topic I wanted to talk about,
and a lot of times, I'll
go to my TikTok likes are saved to like come
up with an idea. And so,
because I did that, I wanna know from you all,
so you're gonna have to pull
out your phones, what are your last three,
(12:11):
either TikTok or whatever
platform you use the most.
[Dana] (12:16):
is just sending a bunch
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:17):
Yeah,
[Dana] (12:17):
of them.
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:17):
that's gonna happen. TikTok
or Instagram, I don't know how either you save
them or like them to basically
tap them for later. I wanna know your last
three saves,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (12:27):
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:27):
what they are.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (12:30):
Okay, I don't use the
save function, but I do a lot of liking.
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:37):
Okay.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (12:37):
I do send posts.
[Dana] (12:38):
I save a lot.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (12:40):
Okay, you go first,
but I send posts, mostly I send posts to two
people, my husband and
Dana. Yeah, and
[Dana] (12:47):
Yep. It's true.
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:49):
Well, I wonder
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (12:50):
it's.
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:50):
too, if this could be kind
of slanted because you're, you, you both are
probably in myself or on
there thinking about the sweat life. And
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (12:57):
Yeah.
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:57):
so it's, but although
[Dana] (12:58):
Well,
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:58):
it's
[Dana] (12:58):
that's
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:58):
probably
[Dana] (12:58):
why I'm
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:59):
stuff
[Dana] (12:59):
pulling
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:59):
we're
[Dana] (12:59):
up my
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:59):
interested
[Dana] (12:59):
TikTok
[Kelly Matkovich] (12:59):
in. Yeah. Same.
[Dana] (13:00):
because my TikTok and Instagram, I tend
to save things that are more like work related
or like client for
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (13:05):
Mm-hmm.
[Dana] (13:05):
me, like client related. TikTok is just
like random things I
[Kelly Matkovich] (13:09):
Oh,
[Dana] (13:09):
enjoy.
[Kelly Matkovich] (13:09):
okay. Well, let's hear your
tech talk.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (13:11):
Yeah,
[Dana] (13:11):
Okay.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (13:11):
let's
[Dana] (13:11):
So my,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (13:12):
hear it.
[Dana] (13:12):
my most recent three are, I follow this
creator called Snack Queen. She's great. And
she made a baked potato dip that apparently
looked good enough to say. So I'll include
links to all of these. So a snack queen
baked potato dip. I saved one that's a PSA
to homeowners or anyone, especially
fellow females living alone. That's about a
(13:34):
thing that you can like put on your
door that like double locks the door. So I
have that saved
[Kelly Matkovich] (13:40):
Oh.
[Dana] (13:40):
because I was like,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (13:40):
Did you
[Dana] (13:40):
that's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (13:40):
buy
[Dana] (13:41):
interesting
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (13:41):
it?
[Dana] (13:41):
and sure, why not? Never liked to get
murdered. And then I saved tree house glamping
in Washington. And it's a really pretty
tree house you can glamp in. Washington state.
So those are all very random, but things
I'm interested
[Kelly Matkovich] (13:54):
Yeah.
[Dana] (13:55):
in homeowner safety, snacks, and treehouse
glamping, apparently.
[Kelly Matkovich] (14:01):
This is okay. So follow up
question. Um, cause I, do you go back and like
look at your saves to be
like, Oh, I like to this idea. Like I can't,
I catch myself saving and
I'm like, Oh, because I want.
[Dana] (14:16):
Only if I vaguely see something that
then I'm like, I think I saved a TikTok about
that. And so that's the only reason
I save it is like for future reference for
things. But no, I probably should go
through my saved TikToks and be like, what
am I doing here?
[Kelly Matkovich] (14:30):
Yeah,
[Dana] (14:31):
What are you doing? Or
[Kelly Matkovich] (14:31):
yeah,
[Dana] (14:31):
actually maybe
[Kelly Matkovich] (14:32):
like
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (14:32):
What
[Kelly Matkovich] (14:32):
I'm
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (14:32):
have
[Kelly Matkovich] (14:32):
thinking,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (14:32):
I done?
[Dana] (14:33):
make one of the recipes
[Kelly Matkovich] (14:34):
make
[Dana] (14:34):
I'm saving.
[Kelly Matkovich] (14:34):
the recipes.
[Dana] (14:35):
I don't know.
[Kelly Matkovich] (14:35):
Yeah, that's what
[Dana] (14:36):
Yeah.
[Kelly Matkovich] (14:36):
I was thinking. I'm like,
I definitely have recipes I saved and I've
done nothing with them.
[Dana] (14:40):
Yeah, like
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (14:40):
Mmm.
[Dana] (14:40):
I have a ton of food saved on TikTok
that I'll probably never make. A lot of like
food hacks or like for my future when
I have a very fancy fridge where I have multiple
types of ice in my freezer, things like
that. Like I save those kinds of videos for
like organization too, but
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (14:56):
fancy
[Kelly Matkovich] (14:56):
Yeah.
[Dana] (14:56):
I don't actually
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (14:57):
eyes.
[Dana] (14:57):
do anything with them.
[Kelly Matkovich] (15:00):
Gina, do you want to tell
us yours?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (15:02):
Yes, well, I will also
say that I haven't. I believe I personally
believe when you partner
with someone, whether that's like in marriage
or dating or whatever,
you start to keep things in each other's brains.
But I think that also
extends to keeping things in each other's mobile
devices. So
[Dana] (15:21):
Mm-hmm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (15:23):
I keep my recipes in
Justin's brain and mobile devices. So he's
doing like a lot of
the cooking for us. which I love, thanks Justin,
[Dana] (15:33):
That's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (15:33):
husband
[Dana] (15:33):
great.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (15:34):
of the century. Also
Andy, because Andy is
[Dana] (15:38):
Yeah,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (15:38):
a consummate
[Dana] (15:38):
I feel like
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (15:38):
chef.
[Dana] (15:38):
you guys both have good cooks as husbands.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (15:42):
We've manifested the
lives we've wanted. And so if I see a recipe
I like on Instagram,
I send it to my husband and he saves it. So
he has this, he has
like a great library of saves of really good
recipes. The other week
he showed me them and I was very impressed.
Okay,
[Dana] (16:00):
Jake
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:01):
so.
[Dana] (16:01):
and I share a lot of like Chicago things
to do, TikToks,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:04):
Mmm,
[Dana] (16:04):
but then we don't
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:04):
I like that.
[Dana] (16:05):
save or do anything with them or do
those things. We're like, cool. And that's
[Kelly Matkovich] (16:10):
Oh my god, you send each
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:11):
Ooh!
[Kelly Matkovich] (16:11):
other
[Dana] (16:11):
it. I know
[Kelly Matkovich] (16:11):
like
[Dana] (16:11):
we
[Kelly Matkovich] (16:11):
date
[Dana] (16:12):
should start,
[Kelly Matkovich] (16:12):
ideas?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:13):
That's
[Dana] (16:13):
not
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:13):
cute.
[Dana] (16:13):
even, I mean, no, that
[Kelly Matkovich] (16:14):
Yeah,
[Dana] (16:14):
sounds cuter
[Kelly Matkovich] (16:15):
yeah,
[Dana] (16:15):
than
[Kelly Matkovich] (16:15):
but...
[Dana] (16:15):
it would be. Yeah. But it's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:16):
Mm-hmm.
[Dana] (16:16):
more like, oh, this is like a crab boil
place. Like we were talking about wanting to
a crab boil. So it's like, cool. That's
a place that someone
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:24):
Dana,
[Dana] (16:24):
does.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:24):
can I propose an idea
for you?
[Dana] (16:25):
Sure.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:27):
What if you, you two,
put your date ideas in a hat and then,
[Dana] (16:33):
Oh, and then like pick one that actually
be
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:35):
yeah.
[Dana] (16:35):
really cute. Cause I feel like more
often than not, we just do nothing.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:38):
Well, then you could
draw
[Dana] (16:39):
We watch
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:39):
like,
[Dana] (16:39):
succession.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:40):
yeah, or you could draw
one a week or draw one
[Dana] (16:43):
I
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:43):
a
[Dana] (16:43):
love
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:43):
month
[Dana] (16:44):
that
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:44):
or whatever.
[Dana] (16:44):
idea. Oh, that's so cute. Okay, I love
that idea. I'll report
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:48):
I stole
[Dana] (16:48):
back.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:49):
that from my brother-in-law
and soon-to-be sister-in-law
[Dana] (16:51):
That's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:51):
who
[Dana] (16:51):
really cute.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (16:52):
put their potential
honeymoon destinations into a hat, but then
the last one was the
one where they would go. So they drew them
all one by one because
they wanted to see their reactions, which was
cute.
[Dana] (17:04):
Were they happy with whatever they want?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (17:06):
Yes, but then they had
to book with the travel agent and the travel
agent let them down.
So they'll go later. I want them to have the
best wedding and the
best honeymoon. Anyway, okay, Kelly, to answer
your question. So I
see a lot of puppies, babies, and small farm
(17:29):
things on my Instagram.
As I've talked about on this podcast before,
I am currently in the
process... of allow me to say a woo-woo sentence,
manifesting a small
farm for my future. So I get a lot
[Dana] (17:41):
Did
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (17:41):
of stuff that would...
[Dana] (17:42):
put it on your vision board during spot
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (17:44):
I
[Dana] (17:44):
working
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (17:44):
really did
[Dana] (17:44):
week.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (17:44):
put it on my vision
[Dana] (17:45):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (17:45):
board. My vision board's
like, I can see it from here. So last couple
things I've sent were
a laundry room that I liked, so, which is so
stupid and adult, but
whatever. So this laundry room, I'm holding
up a picture of it.
There are little areas under the washer and
(18:13):
the dryer
[Dana] (18:13):
Ooh,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (18:13):
to put your baskets
[Dana] (18:14):
so functional.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (18:15):
and yeah, and there's
a sliding shelf that you can put the basket
on
[Kelly Matkovich] (18:20):
You don't even have to
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (18:21):
to
[Kelly Matkovich] (18:21):
bend
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (18:21):
load.
[Kelly Matkovich] (18:21):
down.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (18:22):
You don't
[Dana] (18:22):
Oh
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (18:22):
even
[Dana] (18:22):
my
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (18:22):
have
[Dana] (18:23):
God,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (18:23):
to bend down.
[Dana] (18:23):
that's so smart.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (18:25):
Think of all of the
time you could save. Okay.
[Dana] (18:30):
No, that's huge.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (18:32):
Yeah, and that was from
a creator called, I think it's like KLK Interiors.
So they designed that
laundry room and I liked it. Okay, thing number
two is a baby listening
to classical music. And he's... talking about
(18:54):
it like a little philosopher.
And I love philosopher babies. So the music's
playing in the background,
I'll link to this. The music's playing in the
background and he looks
at his mom and he goes, do you like this song,
mom? And his mom goes,
yeah. And he went, I'm thinking about you.
We'll think about daddy
too. It's just
[Kelly Matkovich] (19:12):
Hmm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:12):
like,
[Dana] (19:12):
Oh,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:13):
it's
[Dana] (19:13):
that's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:13):
really
[Dana] (19:13):
so cute!
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:13):
like very cute. And
then the comments are, sometimes comments on
the internet
[Dana] (19:20):
Mm-hmm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:20):
are a terrible place
to go, but the comments on this. are wonderful.
[Dana] (19:24):
Oh, I
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:24):
It's
[Dana] (19:24):
love
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:24):
just
[Dana] (19:25):
when
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:25):
like,
[Dana] (19:25):
there's a good comment section and everyone
in the
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:26):
yeah.
[Dana] (19:27):
comment section is like there for a
good time and if someone
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:29):
Yeah.
[Dana] (19:29):
tries to ruin the party, everyone's
like, no, we're not.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:31):
Yeah,
[Dana] (19:31):
No,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:32):
we're not doing that
[Dana] (19:33):
we're not
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:33):
here.
[Dana] (19:33):
doing
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:33):
This
[Dana] (19:33):
that
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:33):
is
[Dana] (19:33):
here.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:34):
a baby
[Dana] (19:34):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:35):
and he's lovely. Okay,
and then the third thing was.
a video of a woman and
it's like a reveal where she's like, my husband
asked me for a divorce
this morning. And she goes,
[Kelly Matkovich] (19:54):
Cool.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:54):
and then you hear him
in the background go, no, I didn't, I asked
you to go for a run.
[Dana] (19:59):
Oh.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (19:59):
And she was like,
[Kelly Matkovich] (20:00):
Oh,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (20:00):
same
[Kelly Matkovich] (20:00):
I've seen that trend,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (20:01):
thing.
[Kelly Matkovich] (20:01):
yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (20:02):
Yeah,
[Dana] (20:02):
That's so funny.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (20:03):
and I said that to my
husband because I found
[Dana] (20:06):
That's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (20:06):
it delightful.
[Dana] (20:06):
great.
[Kelly Matkovich] (20:07):
Penny, LOL.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (20:08):
Can I? LOL. Okay, we're
gonna do a bonus. I'm gonna play the sound
from it.
Okay, hold on. I'm gonna
start it over. She goes.
[Dana] (20:37):
I'm not gonna lie, I can't hear it.
[Kelly Matkovich] (20:38):
Yeah, it's not loud enough.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (20:40):
Oh, damn. Okay, well,
it's so cute. I'm gonna put it in the comments,
but it's like this
[Kelly Matkovich] (20:44):
I'm going to go to bed.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (20:45):
self-affirming little
girl who's like, Owen didn't like my hair.
And I said, if you don't
like it, you don't have to look at it. And
[Dana] (20:54):
Oh, nice.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (20:54):
I like it. And
[Dana] (20:55):
Oh, I
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (20:55):
her
[Dana] (20:55):
love
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (20:55):
mom's
[Dana] (20:55):
it.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (20:55):
like, good. You stood
up for yourself, baby. And she's like so proud
and I loved it. So that's
[Dana] (21:03):
You
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (21:03):
less.
[Dana] (21:03):
do love Kid Talk. Kid Talk?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (21:05):
Yeah.
[Dana] (21:06):
Sure. Kid
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (21:07):
Yes,
[Dana] (21:07):
Talk.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (21:07):
I love Kid Graham.
[Kelly Matkovich] (21:10):
Oh. Ha ha ha.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (21:11):
kids to Graham. If you
read the emails sent out by me once a week,
most of the links from
across the web are children, I had to like
contain myself this
week.
[Dana] (21:21):
Only one kid an issue, you know?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (21:24):
Oh, it was three this
week,
[Dana] (21:26):
Oh yeah,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (21:26):
but
[Dana] (21:26):
that's limiting you.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (21:27):
it could have been six.
Kelly, what about you? What are the last three
things you saved or
sent?
[Kelly Matkovich] (21:34):
Mine are on TikTok, because
I don't really save anything on Instagram,
but I do on TikTok and the
last three are pretty fitting. One is about,
I bet Gina knows this trick,
but I don't think I know this. The last hole
on your running shoe, the
closest one to your ankle, I've always just
(21:54):
laced it like just a regular
lace. I didn't really know what it's for, but
it's a heel hook. It's called,
and you can do this runner loop. And it's like
this whole loop you do. It's
not just like your regular, I don't know. Anyway,
I was like, oh, that's a
really cool hack and maybe I'll do that.
[Dana] (22:09):
So like it goes
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (22:10):
Did
[Kelly Matkovich] (22:10):
But.
[Dana] (22:10):
through
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (22:10):
you try
[Dana] (22:10):
the
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (22:10):
it?
[Dana] (22:10):
back pull tab, like you lace them through
the back.
[Kelly Matkovich] (22:14):
Yeah, but it's like this
whole loop thing you do. It's not
[Dana] (22:17):
Interesting.
[Kelly Matkovich] (22:17):
just your normal cross. Anyway,
it's called the runner's loop and I didn't
know about that. Gina, did
you know about the heel hook?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (22:26):
I knew about it, but
I've never used it in that way, and I couldn't
show you how to do it.
[Kelly Matkovich] (22:31):
Yeah, okay. Okay, so we're
all learning
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (22:33):
So
[Kelly Matkovich] (22:34):
something
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (22:35):
learning
[Kelly Matkovich] (22:35):
new.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (22:35):
something new.
[Kelly Matkovich] (22:36):
We'll share that one out.
The other one is from, so I'm doing this big
hike at the end of August
called the Tour de Mont Blanc in Europe and
it's a 100 mile hike and
someone had posted, I must, I'm getting like
fed like that information.
They're on day one of their hike, so I saved
it so I wanted to follow
her on her journey to see what I should expect.
(22:57):
So that was fun. And then
the last one is, You guys, you all know what
dermaplaning is?
[Dana] (23:04):
Mm-hmm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (23:05):
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
[Kelly Matkovich] (23:06):
So
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (23:06):
Shave
[Kelly Matkovich] (23:06):
for the
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (23:06):
your
[Kelly Matkovich] (23:06):
listeners,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (23:06):
face.
[Kelly Matkovich] (23:07):
it's, yeah, you take this
blade to your face and it's taking off kind
of the first layer of skin
and then like your hair, basically, off your
face. And I've done it a
few times with an esthetician and I do like
it. And I've bought some
from Amazon, Amazon like really cheap ones
that I've done in the past,
but I'm like, oh, I kinda wanna put this in
my routine. So I... a lady
was talking about it, she's an esthetician
(23:31):
and she has like an actual
blade that's like I wouldn't trust myself with.
Anyway, she goes through
the whole process and now I am, this is something
I want to do and
[Dana] (23:41):
Interesting.
[Kelly Matkovich] (23:41):
you're supposed to do it
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (23:41):
I
[Kelly Matkovich] (23:41):
every
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (23:41):
guess.
[Kelly Matkovich] (23:42):
five to seven, five to six
weeks. Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (23:45):
Ooh, they're so on the
Real Housewives of New York, Caroline Manzo,
Birdie, Mavie, every
dog
[Dana] (23:55):
Wait,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (23:55):
here.
[Dana] (23:55):
the new New York City?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (23:57):
No, the old New York
[Dana] (23:58):
Mm-mm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (23:58):
City, when Caroline
Manzo was still on it, she on a reunion, they
were talking about their
skincare routines and she was like, once a
week, I take a straight
edge razor and I shave my face. And I remember
being like, what the
heck?
[Dana] (24:13):
scares me.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (24:14):
And now it's a spa treatment.
[Dana] (24:18):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (24:19):
Like I got it done and
my skin looked baby soft.
[Dana] (24:22):
I feel like I'd be scared because my
hair is thick and dark. I'm scared
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (24:27):
They
[Dana] (24:27):
if
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (24:27):
tell
[Dana] (24:28):
I
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (24:28):
you it doesn't
[Dana] (24:28):
lightly
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (24:28):
matter.
[Dana] (24:29):
shaved my face that it would grow back
a beard.
[Kelly Matkovich] (24:31):
Hmm,
[Dana] (24:32):
No?
[Kelly Matkovich] (24:32):
it won't.
[Dana] (24:33):
Doesn't happen? OK.
[Kelly Matkovich] (24:34):
No.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (24:35):
happen. The follicle
doesn't change size.
[Kelly Matkovich] (24:37):
Yeah.
[Dana] (24:37):
Oh,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (24:38):
We've
[Dana] (24:38):
interesting.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (24:38):
been lied to.
[Kelly Matkovich] (24:39):
Yeah, it won't
[Dana] (24:40):
I
[Kelly Matkovich] (24:40):
go
[Dana] (24:40):
do believe
[Kelly Matkovich] (24:41):
back
[Dana] (24:41):
that.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (24:42):
Hehe
[Kelly Matkovich] (24:42):
bigger or stronger. It'll
be the same.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (24:44):
Yeah.
[Dana] (24:45):
Okay, I like it.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (24:46):
Ooh, Dana, are you ready?
I'd love to hear what you're bringing this
week.
[Dana] (24:52):
So this podcast is being recorded on
July 27th. That is two days after we found
out that the government shockingly,
I'm sorry, I am back to turning this into a
vaguely political podcast
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (25:04):
Yeah
[Dana] (25:04):
because the government has been lying
to us as we knew and aliens exist. There is
governmental proof. There was, I don't
even know this guy's official title other than
his head is very funny shaped. The guy
who was talking on, I'm sorry, Spaceman. But
basically there was a whole
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (25:25):
He works for the
[Dana] (25:26):
government,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (25:26):
Central Intelligence
Agency.
[Dana] (25:27):
central intelligence
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (25:27):
There
[Dana] (25:28):
agency, there you
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (25:29):
you are,
[Kelly Matkovich] (25:29):
hahahaha
[Dana] (25:30):
go.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (25:30):
spaceman.
[Dana] (25:31):
Space man. I got very distracted by
the fact that basically we learned in this
conference, this, this tribunal that
aliens are real and the, that they found proof
that the government has taken UFOs and
non-human beings. So I know that you talked
about this on your podcast with Gideon,
but I figured in general, aliens are always
(25:54):
a fun topic to talk
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (25:55):
Yeah.
[Dana] (25:55):
about. So I'd like to discuss, do we
think aliens are real? And also, if aliens
came to this planet,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (26:08):
They're
[Dana] (26:08):
like,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (26:08):
here,
[Dana] (26:08):
what would you do?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (26:09):
first
[Dana] (26:09):
Like, what
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (26:09):
of
[Dana] (26:09):
would
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (26:09):
all.
[Dana] (26:09):
you do? Well, they're here. Like, we
already know they're here, but say they come
and they're like, hey, like. We're here,
you know?
[Kelly Matkovich] (26:17):
We want to party.
[Dana] (26:18):
Yeah, like
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (26:18):
Yeah.
[Dana] (26:18):
we're here, like unavoidable.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (26:22):
We're here. Oh, Kelly,
I feel like you have to go first, because I'll
take a lot of time on
this.
[Kelly Matkovich] (26:28):
Yeah, okay, I will go first
because I don't have to. Well, I, it's funny
because I'm like not surprised,
like even the news, I'm just like meh, like
I'm like,
[Dana] (26:37):
Yeah.
[Kelly Matkovich] (26:38):
because
[Dana] (26:39):
It's like, duh.
[Kelly Matkovich] (26:41):
yeah, I think it's very interesting
that the government's talking about it. And
I feel like anytime I think
of Aliens, my head just goes to Independence
Day, the movie, like that's
just because it's the whole like the government
was lying and then there's
aliens and there's this whole secret area where
they have aliens. you know,
so it's like we watched that movie so much
growing up so that's what
I think of. But they were also a violent aliens
(27:04):
so I'm open to whatever it
could be. But I think it'd be very interesting
that for our lifetime we
interact with someone outside of the earth.
It'd be very interesting.
I don't know. We don't know.
[Dana] (27:24):
We don't
[Kelly Matkovich] (27:24):
But
[Dana] (27:24):
know.
[Kelly Matkovich] (27:24):
that's all I have to say.
[Dana] (27:27):
I like that. It's a very neutral take
on aliens.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (27:30):
Yeah.
[Dana] (27:30):
You're like,
[Kelly Matkovich] (27:30):
Yeah.
[Dana] (27:31):
I'll take them as they come. See
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (27:33):
Yeah.
[Dana] (27:33):
what they're up to before I judge. And
I appreciate
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (27:35):
You know
[Kelly Matkovich] (27:36):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (27:36):
what's
[Dana] (27:36):
that.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (27:36):
crazy? Has there been
a single alien movie or TV show that's been
written by women?
[Dana] (27:42):
Oof. I don't know, was the movie Arrival
written by a woman? Because that movie is fantastic.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (27:49):
That's the only one
I could see possibly being written by a woman.
Let's Google it right
now. We're women who Google, we can do this.
Writer, a rival writer.
Movie.
[Dana] (27:59):
I know, now I'm,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (28:00):
Come on,
[Dana] (28:00):
now.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (28:00):
Google. You can do it.
Nope, dudes. Dudes all around. Rival film.
Directed by Dennis Villanueva.
Screenplay by Eric Hesteresser. Nope,
[Dana] (28:13):
I just
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (28:13):
written
[Dana] (28:13):
said
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (28:13):
by dudes.
[Dana] (28:14):
alien movies written by women and there's
basically none.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (28:18):
Okay, so here's why
I'm asking that question. That's to Kelly's
point, almost every
alien movie, TV show, et cetera, positions
aliens as conquerors.
[Dana] (28:30):
Mm-hmm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (28:30):
Like they're coming
here for our resources, for our planet, for
our land. What if they
just wanna meet us?
[Dana] (28:39):
They're like, look, what's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (28:41):
We're
[Dana] (28:42):
up?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (28:42):
just tourists.
[Dana] (28:42):
Yeah,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (28:43):
Yeah.
[Dana] (28:43):
totally. Well, that's the kind of space,
that's the kind of alien life I'd be interested
in. And that's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (28:49):
Yeah.
[Dana] (28:49):
why I like the movie Arrival because
like they come and they just wanna communicate.
They just wanna like chat. And like
it takes a really smart woman scientist to
be able to like create that bridge of
communication. So I agree. I feel like I wanna
believe that if aliens have come in
our lifetime because, or, in other lifetimes
(29:09):
if they've come and the government has
like shut that down, maybe they're not coming
here to destroy us and harvest our bodies.
And instead they're
[Kelly Matkovich] (29:16):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:16):
they would
[Dana] (29:17):
coming
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:17):
have by
[Dana] (29:17):
here
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:17):
now.
[Dana] (29:18):
just to like hang. Just like more of
like a men in black situation where it's like,
they're just like on a passport. They're
just like if there's a whole intergalactic
like species happening and it's like
maybe Earth is just like a way station.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:31):
Yeah, they're just
[Dana] (29:32):
And
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:32):
trying to
[Dana] (29:32):
as
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:33):
get
[Dana] (29:33):
we
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:33):
where
[Dana] (29:33):
start
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:33):
they're going.
[Dana] (29:33):
to have to figure out ways to like.
live outside of the earth as the earth becomes
inevitable. It'd just be nice to be
able to do like a little like timeshare sitch
with like an alien race, you know?
[Kelly Matkovich] (29:47):
Well, they're
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:47):
If we
[Kelly Matkovich] (29:47):
clearly
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:47):
can breathe their
[Kelly Matkovich] (29:48):
more
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:48):
air.
[Kelly Matkovich] (29:48):
advanced than us, right?
Like they're
[Dana] (29:50):
Oh,
[Kelly Matkovich] (29:50):
getting to
[Dana] (29:50):
yeah.
[Kelly Matkovich] (29:51):
us.
[Dana] (29:51):
Yeah, so true, so true, yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:53):
Yeah. I mean, if they're
traveling to this planet on spacecraft,
[Dana] (29:56):
And I just feel like
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:56):
then
[Dana] (29:57):
in
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:57):
yes.
[Dana] (29:57):
general,
[Kelly Matkovich] (29:57):
They
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (29:57):
Yeah.
[Kelly Matkovich] (29:57):
figured it out.
[Dana] (29:58):
I can guarantee they're more advanced
than,
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:01):
Yeah.
[Dana] (30:01):
like if we are it, we just all had to
Google something like, I don't know, this whole
podcast I've like barely known. Yeah,
no, we can't be the top.
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:12):
Wait, isn't
[Dana] (30:12):
We can't,
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:13):
that like
[Dana] (30:13):
we can't do
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:14):
Planet
[Dana] (30:14):
it.
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:14):
of the Apes? Like the humans
are like barbaric,
[Dana] (30:17):
Yes.
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:17):
right?
[Dana] (30:19):
Yeah, it's like the ape, it's like it's
on earth the whole time and it's like they
destroyed it and now the earth is run
by apes. Spoiler
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:26):
because
[Dana] (30:26):
alert,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:27):
no, that's
[Dana] (30:28):
if
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:28):
I
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:28):
how
[Dana] (30:28):
anyone
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:28):
guess
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:28):
it ends.
[Dana] (30:28):
never
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:28):
Avatar,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:28):
I didn't.
[Dana] (30:29):
saw that movie from the 70s.
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:32):
it's almost the reverse,
right? It's like
[Dana] (30:34):
Mm-hmm.
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:36):
Earthlings going to a different
planet and of course taking over
[Dana] (30:39):
Yeah,
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:39):
conquering.
[Dana] (30:39):
Avatar's like Pocahontas. It's like,
we're here to save you,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:42):
It is.
[Dana] (30:42):
people who didn't need saving.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:44):
Yeah.
[Kelly Matkovich] (30:44):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:45):
We've come to save you.
And they're like, well, we were good. But
[Dana] (30:47):
Yeah,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:47):
like
[Dana] (30:47):
they're like,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:48):
also
[Dana] (30:48):
you can put
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:48):
we'd
[Dana] (30:48):
your
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:48):
like
[Dana] (30:48):
shirt
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:48):
your
[Dana] (30:48):
back
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (30:49):
resources.
[Dana] (30:49):
on. Yeah. So that was just a fun little
tangent. Who knows who we'll see, but I do
like that we're all optimistic that
these aliens will be friendly and just wanna
hang out with us.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (31:02):
I'm not fully optimistic.
[Dana] (31:03):
No,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (31:03):
That's
[Dana] (31:03):
but like
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (31:03):
what I'm
[Dana] (31:04):
it's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (31:04):
hopeful for.
[Dana] (31:04):
an
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (31:04):
Yeah.
[Dana] (31:04):
option no one's talking about though,
which I like.
[Kelly Matkovich] (31:07):
Ah!
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (31:07):
Okay, so someone in
my world, I can't say who, because this person
signed like a crazy
document years and years ago. I don't know
who they could be. This
person went to Area 51. to be a part of like
(31:30):
testing and learning
about chemicals and other like government secrets
and came back from there
and could tell me nothing. Could tell me nothing,
could tell like people
in this person's world, nothing. So I can confirm
that Area 51 is real.
I can, and I can confirm that there are real
(31:55):
airtight secrets.
[Dana] (31:56):
Well, imagine whatever they had to say
to this person who's probably Justin.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:02):
No,
[Kelly Matkovich] (32:02):
Hahaha
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:02):
Justin has no
[Dana] (32:03):
I'm
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:03):
reason.
[Dana] (32:03):
just
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:04):
Justin
[Dana] (32:04):
kidding.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:05):
has
[Dana] (32:05):
What if Justin's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:05):
no
[Dana] (32:06):
like
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:06):
reason
[Dana] (32:06):
randomly in Area 51?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:08):
for marketing purposes.
[Kelly Matkovich] (32:10):
Secret service.
[Dana] (32:11):
But like, I mean, you have to be kind
of scared of whatever you see to be like, I'm
not going to tell anyone about this
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:17):
Yeah,
[Dana] (32:17):
because
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:17):
literally
[Dana] (32:17):
like,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:17):
not going to tell.
[Dana] (32:18):
I know that you've been able to conceal
this. I don't
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:21):
Yeah.
[Dana] (32:21):
know. It's crazy.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:23):
And they're also like,
so I've talked about this on the podcast, too.
Like I because I had
like this deep interest in becoming an astronaut.
I met many astronauts,
which is pretty dope to say that. So I would
go to, you know, like
people follow bands, people go to baseball
card signings like I
wanted to be astronauts. And if you ask them
(32:48):
about aliens, which
I did, because I'm interested in that. they
clam up, like they don't
say a word. So I think they also were sworn
to secrecy, which is
[Kelly Matkovich] (32:59):
But
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:59):
pretty
[Kelly Matkovich] (32:59):
why
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (32:59):
cool.
[Kelly Matkovich] (32:59):
the secret?
[Dana] (33:00):
Yeah, and why are more
[Kelly Matkovich] (33:02):
Like,
[Dana] (33:02):
people
[Kelly Matkovich] (33:02):
why
[Dana] (33:02):
telling
[Kelly Matkovich] (33:02):
can't
[Dana] (33:02):
these
[Kelly Matkovich] (33:02):
we know?
[Dana] (33:03):
secrets
[Kelly Matkovich] (33:03):
Yeah.
[Dana] (33:03):
on their deathbeds? Where are the deathbed
confessions?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:08):
I think, okay, so I
think the, well, first of all, the
[Dana] (33:11):
Yeah, why can't
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:12):
gentlemen
[Dana] (33:12):
we know?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:13):
who testified to Congress
yesterday,
[Dana] (33:17):
That was a testified, oh my god,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:19):
if we
[Dana] (33:19):
confessed
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:19):
wasn't testified,
[Dana] (33:20):
whatever I said.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:21):
no, is testified to
Congress, I wanna say garrouche, but that's
a justice. Let's see,
I, aliens. Yeah,
[Dana] (33:31):
probably
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:31):
let's
[Dana] (33:31):
pop
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:31):
find,
[Dana] (33:31):
right
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:32):
we're
[Dana] (33:32):
up.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:32):
gonna Google this. We're
doing great. We're doing so great. And so.
when he testified, my
question was, why? Like why now?
[Dana] (33:44):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:45):
Why are you telling
this now? Which maybe we'll find out, who knows.
[Dana] (33:52):
And then I always get scared. I'm like,
if they're telling us this now, then is there
something bigger that they're just trying
[Kelly Matkovich] (33:56):
Yeah,
[Dana] (33:56):
to
[Kelly Matkovich] (33:56):
it's like an
[Dana] (33:56):
distract
[Kelly Matkovich] (33:57):
urgency.
[Dana] (33:57):
us over here and be like,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:58):
Yeah.
[Dana] (33:58):
be like, aliens are
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (33:59):
Global
[Dana] (33:59):
over here.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (34:00):
warming.
[Dana] (34:00):
And then there's something real happening
behind us.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (34:03):
Yeah, yeah. Whistleblower,
he's a whistleblower. So he's protected
[Dana] (34:07):
Oh!
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (34:08):
by whistleblower laws.
Okay, so his name is
[Dana] (34:13):
But like he's
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (34:13):
David
[Dana] (34:14):
showing his
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (34:14):
Grutch.
[Dana] (34:14):
face and his name
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (34:16):
Yeah.
[Dana] (34:16):
and everything. So like, is he not worried?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (34:19):
Well, he's protected
now by whistleblower laws.
[Dana] (34:22):
Mmm, mmm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (34:23):
So whistleblower laws
protect you from retribution.
[Dana] (34:29):
interesting.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (34:29):
But I didn't know that
you could be protected from the government
by whistleblower
[Dana] (34:33):
Yeah,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (34:33):
laws.
[Dana] (34:33):
I didn't know that either.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (34:35):
But here we are. We'll
link to this in the show notes, but I'm sure
you've all read it.
Ha ha ha. Hit.
[Dana] (34:40):
If anyone wants to know more about this,
just DM us because we all have lots to talk
about aliens.
[Kelly Matkovich] (34:45):
Yeah, I
[Dana] (34:46):
We
[Kelly Matkovich] (34:46):
just
[Dana] (34:46):
can't
[Kelly Matkovich] (34:46):
don't
[Dana] (34:46):
be the
[Kelly Matkovich] (34:46):
understand
[Dana] (34:46):
only ones.
[Kelly Matkovich] (34:47):
the secrecy. Like,
[Dana] (34:49):
No.
[Kelly Matkovich] (34:49):
why can't we all just know?
It's
[Dana] (34:51):
Yeah.
[Kelly Matkovich] (34:51):
not like there's gonna be
hysteria.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (34:54):
Of course, that would.
[Kelly Matkovich] (34:55):
But I mean, if we could plan,
like if we just knew this whole time and like...
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:00):
We
[Dana] (35:00):
Yeah,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:00):
could
[Dana] (35:01):
like,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:01):
prepare.
[Dana] (35:01):
what would be the deal
[Kelly Matkovich] (35:02):
Mariff
[Dana] (35:02):
if we found
[Kelly Matkovich] (35:02):
or whatever.
[Dana] (35:03):
out there was an alien like 50 years
ago? Like, that wouldn't change anything about
our lives, right?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:09):
You're not wrong, but
I think there's like this general, they're
protecting us from ourselves
for whatever reason. Just like there's so much
intelligence, we don't
learn on a daily basis. Like think of the intelligence
reports that land on
the president of the United States' desks.
[Dana] (35:24):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:25):
Like
[Kelly Matkovich] (35:25):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:26):
there's so much stuff
in there that we'll never know, but we learn
like
[Dana] (35:29):
But like, I don't
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:30):
little
[Dana] (35:30):
want to know.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:30):
pieces.
[Dana] (35:31):
I honestly don't care except about aliens.
And I'm like, no, I do
[Kelly Matkovich] (35:34):
Same! I don't
[Dana] (35:35):
want
[Kelly Matkovich] (35:35):
know!
[Dana] (35:35):
to know about this. Like
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:36):
Yeah.
[Dana] (35:36):
90%, I'm like, no, I don't need to know.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:39):
You found a spy in Wichita?
Boring.
[Dana] (35:41):
Yeah, boring,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:41):
Tell
[Kelly Matkovich] (35:42):
Hahaha
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:42):
me about the aliens.
[Dana] (35:43):
boring. I don't care. I don't care.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (35:47):
But I just think, I
think it is very, it's very self-aggrandizing
to think that we are
the only intelligent life in this endless boundless
universe that we literally
cannot see the end of. We don't understand
fully, never will. So
I think it's crazy to be like, no, we're it.
(36:08):
We're all that's here.
[Dana] (36:09):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:10):
No way.
[Dana] (36:11):
Yeah, I just really hope not. And like
everything, we
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:14):
No.
[Dana] (36:14):
like to make friends here at Spotlight,
so.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:16):
Yeah, we
[Dana] (36:17):
Aliens?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:17):
are friendly
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:18):
Applications
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:18):
humans, aliens.
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:19):
are open to...
[Dana] (36:22):
Ambassador ship galaxy wide.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:26):
We're looking
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:26):
First
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:26):
for
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:27):
community
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:27):
an ambassador
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:27):
to open
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:27):
lead.
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:28):
outside of the earth.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:31):
Andromeda Galaxy Community
[Dana] (36:33):
I love
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:33):
How
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:33):
Lead.
[Dana] (36:34):
that
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:34):
do you
[Dana] (36:34):
for
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:34):
work
[Dana] (36:34):
us.
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:34):
out at your planet?
[Dana] (36:36):
Oh,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:36):
I'm
[Dana] (36:36):
I love
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:36):
gonna go
[Dana] (36:37):
it.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:37):
to bed.
[Dana] (36:37):
State of fitness, zero gravity. Mm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:40):
State of, yeah, or like
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:41):
I'm sorry.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:42):
G force of two. How
do you work out in G force of two? That's hard.
[Dana] (36:46):
I love this.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:48):
More to come. Okay.
My
[Kelly Matkovich] (36:50):
Hahahaha
[Dana] (36:51):
Okay.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:51):
topic today, I could
say is closely related
[Dana] (36:57):
Yeah.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (36:58):
to aliens. It is related
to the stars. I'd like to talk about astrology
apps that you use and
or trust. I can start by saying this week I
learned about a new
astrology app, new to me, called The Pattern,
[Dana] (37:17):
Mmm
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (37:17):
which people love. I
really liked it. It definitely dug in to who
I am in a very real
way. Spoiler alert, it was like, you're a rebel.
You don't like to do
anything anyone tells you, et cetera.
[Dana] (37:30):
And you were like, you were like
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (37:32):
I know.
[Dana] (37:32):
F off app,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (37:33):
Yeah,
[Dana] (37:33):
cause you don't like
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (37:34):
why are
[Dana] (37:34):
being
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (37:34):
you
[Dana] (37:34):
told
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (37:34):
telling
[Dana] (37:34):
that.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (37:34):
me that about my, yeah.
[Dana] (37:36):
And then he threw your front at the
wall.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (37:38):
Yeah, and then I broke
my phone. I also use the CoStar app, which
is fine, but the pattern,
I feel like, CoStar is great for like a quick
daily update, but pattern
is the most in-depth overview I've ever gotten.
[Dana] (37:53):
Mm-hmm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (37:53):
Okay, now let's start
with Kelly, because your answer will be short.
[Kelly Matkovich] (37:58):
How did you know? Yeah, I
find astrology cool and I dabble, but I don't
dabble enough where it's
integrated in my life or even just I don't
have any apps. I don't follow.
I don't follow anyone on Instagram and I don't
have any emails. So yeah,
I don't have too much to add. So I'm excited
to hear from you all. I just
I don't follow too much astrology.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (38:20):
Oh, you should follow
[Kelly Matkovich] (38:21):
Thanks.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (38:22):
ModernAstrologer
[Kelly Matkovich] (38:24):
Uh-huh.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (38:24):
on Instagram. She'll
tell you kind of what's happening in the stars
and how it will impact
you. So like things going into retrograde and
just like general themes
of the universe that affect all people. And
then I also enjoy the
high priestess of High Priestess of Brooklyn.
(38:51):
She's
[Dana] (38:51):
Mm-hmm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (38:51):
amazing. I have an annual
reading with her. My birthday every
[Dana] (38:57):
I love
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (38:57):
year.
[Dana] (38:57):
that.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (38:58):
That's what annual means.
Okay, so
[Kelly Matkovich] (39:00):
Wait, I
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (39:00):
two
[Kelly Matkovich] (39:00):
have a
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (39:01):
recos.
[Kelly Matkovich] (39:01):
question. When
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (39:02):
Yes.
[Kelly Matkovich] (39:02):
you do your annual reading,
like, do you actually, is it more, do you implement
anything in your life or
is it more just? over all encompassing information?
Or what do you do with the
information you get?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (39:22):
Well, great question.
So I will ask for an overview of the year and
then we'll go through
it. The thing about Tarot, so she'll do Tarot
and astrology. The thing
about Tarot is it's like, it's a divination
tool. So like you still
have free will, et cetera, et cetera. So things
(39:44):
could change, but we'll
go through the cards and then I ask follow-up
questions. So she'll
be like, here's what's happening in your chart
this year. Here's what-
your cards are saying like themes for each
month, any questions,
and then I will ask her to dig into whatever
I have questions on
still. So yes, I'll take some actions or she'll
(40:04):
say things like, this
would be a good month to make a change in your
business, move, do X,
Y, or Z. So you can take note of what's good
for you and what.
[Kelly Matkovich] (40:16):
Did you,
[Dana] (40:17):
like that.
[Kelly Matkovich] (40:18):
like the year prior, do you
notice things that she said that happened?
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (40:25):
Yeah, so I will re I
record it and then listen to it later. So I'll
come back to it and
listen and then I'll kind of like check in
on like, yes, that happened
or no, we didn't whatever. For example, like
last year, she said
that I would have a lonely month in the month
(40:45):
of March. And that's
the month actually that Justin and I spent
in Austin, which was
kind of lonely because we were. like away from
friends, but adventuring.
So that was really, it was interesting to look
back on that. But yeah,
I'll go, but I'll revisit them because I think
it's
[Dana] (41:03):
I love
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (41:03):
fun to
[Dana] (41:03):
that
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (41:04):
do.
[Dana] (41:04):
idea of doing like an annual tarot reading
on your birthday. I might steal that.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (41:11):
All right, Dana, we
want to know, what are you
[Dana] (41:13):
I
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (41:14):
apping?
[Dana] (41:14):
also love CoStar. I love Pattern. I
also love Sanctuary.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (41:19):
Mmm.
[Dana] (41:20):
So Sanctuary has beautiful branding
and I just find it very easy to look at. I
also really love the Channy app.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (41:29):
Chania.
[Dana] (41:30):
C-H-A-N-I. So it's by Channing Nichols.
And she's an amazing astrologer that I've followed
for a long time. And so the app is just
beautifully branded again. And so obviously
I'm a big fan of well-branded apps.
And then I also really love a tarot card app
(41:51):
that I like called Mystic Mondays that
you can kind of pick a new card every day.
from like different decks. So you can
do kind of like a virtual tarot card reading.
So I like to start my day with a Mystic
Monday reading. Usually more often than not,
I check the Channy app, but I do like
CoStar probably the most like just frequently
(42:12):
checking it. I haven't used pattern
in a while. I used to use that one more, but
this is a good reminder to start using
that one more because I do love that app. I'm
trying to think what else I use. I also
have a widget on my phone that tells me what
phase of the moon. that we're in because
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (42:27):
Ooh.
[Dana] (42:27):
I also like very much use that to track
my just moods and things. And the journal that
I use every week like has like a space
for like Fates of the Moon and like your energy
level. And I do find that like whether
or not it's real, which I think it is obviously
real. I believe in the Fates of the
Moon. Name my business after the Moon. Uh,
(42:50):
love that bitch.
[Kelly Matkovich] (42:51):
Thanks
[Dana] (42:51):
Uh,
[Kelly Matkovich] (42:51):
for watching!
[Dana] (42:52):
I think that like, you know, I do notice
the fluctuation of my energy, depending on
like the phase of the moon or just kind
of like, again, where I'm at in my cycle. So
I like to kind of track all that together.
And so kind of
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:03):
Yeah,
[Dana] (43:03):
astrology,
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:04):
girl.
[Dana] (43:04):
but also just kind of like energy tracking.
[Kelly Matkovich] (43:07):
All right.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:08):
I mean, the moon's the
boss of me for sure, because
[Dana] (43:10):
Mm-hmm.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:11):
I get my period on the
new moon, like without fail, which is like
a pretty witchy thing
to say. And
[Dana] (43:17):
I
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:17):
I'm
[Dana] (43:17):
love
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:17):
like
[Dana] (43:17):
that.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:17):
fairly proud of it.
[Dana] (43:18):
I love that for you. I
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:20):
Every
[Dana] (43:20):
really
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:21):
time
[Dana] (43:21):
do.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:21):
I'm like, yes, must
be a new moon. I'll Google it. I'm like, yes,
right again.
[Dana] (43:27):
I love
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:28):
So
[Dana] (43:28):
that.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:28):
yeah. So there you go,
listener.
[Dana] (43:33):
Now you've learned so much about us
today.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:35):
Yeah, you really have.
[Kelly Matkovich] (43:36):
Thank
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:36):
Kelly,
[Kelly Matkovich] (43:36):
you.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:36):
any follow-up questions
about our astrology practices and or apps?
She's shaking
[Kelly Matkovich] (43:41):
No.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (43:41):
her head no to the listener.
All right, let's bring it out with a tiny topic.
Today, we're gonna talk
about our favorite ways to be mindful. Let's
start with Kelly, talk
us through your mindful practice.
[Kelly Matkovich] (44:00):
I feel like people talk about
this a lot, but I'd say mine is going for a
hike or a run. Definitely
either brings me out of a mood or gives me
some clarity and really makes
me feel better afterwards. So any type of movement,
but really something more
like a walk where it's just low impact and
(44:24):
you're just getting outside
and feeling the sun. I think it's really helpful.
get some clarity.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (44:32):
Yeah, sometimes you
just need to go outside.
[Kelly Matkovich] (44:34):
Yeah.
[Dana] (44:35):
No, that's...
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (44:37):
Tina, what's your mindfulness
practice?
[Dana] (44:39):
Mine's also fairly basic, but I love
just listening to music. Honestly, I've always
been like, if I put on a specific song,
whether it's like, hey, I just want to wallow
in feeling sad and I have a playlist
for that, or I want to feel upbeat, I have
a playlist for that, or just kind of
just bouncing around Spotify or I have a record
collection that I love. So I just, I've
always loved music and I feel like putting
(45:03):
on the right song or playlist or album
or whatever it is will. just usually get me
out of a funk or let me get deeper into
that funk or whatever I'm searching
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (45:12):
I'm sorry.
[Dana] (45:13):
for in that moment. So I like to kind
of do that while I'm doing other things like
cooking or even just like putting away
laundry, just like things that are kind of
mindless and just let myself kind of
like listen and feel whatever I'm going to
feel from the music. I'll do it with
podcasts too. Like if it's like a true crime
podcast.
[Kelly Matkovich] (45:30):
Whoa.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (45:35):
We've got some real
dog action. I think
[Dana] (45:37):
We got
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (45:37):
Justin
[Dana] (45:37):
some dog
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (45:37):
just got
[Dana] (45:37):
action.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (45:37):
home. Dog action. No,
they're just reacting. We have a dog across
the hall that they like
to talk to. It's not helpful, Maverick. It's
not helpful to us,
[Dana] (45:47):
And I
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (45:47):
please.
[Dana] (45:47):
was like, I'm a guest this week.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (45:49):
Yeah, excuse me. It's
me, Maverick the dog, guest on the podcast.
[Dana] (45:52):
Ha ha ha.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (45:53):
I think aliens are real.
[Dana] (45:55):
Yeah, you didn't ask my opinion.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (45:57):
Yeah, he thinks horses
are aliens. For sure, horses
[Dana] (46:01):
Haha
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (46:01):
are aliens. Anyway,
as you were Dana, I'm adding a note into our
conversation document,
asking Dana to link to her mood playlist.
[Dana] (46:12):
Oh, I surely
[Kelly Matkovich] (46:13):
Ooh.
[Dana] (46:13):
will. Yes, I will. But yeah, just listening
to music or podcasts, like just letting myself
like audible audibly get into something.
And then I can like do a mindless task and
just let my mind wander. So I like to
do those things.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (46:26):
Hmm. I love that for
you. Okay, so if you would have asked me two
years ago, if I meditate
or do anything mindful, the answer would have
been, I can't meditate.
I've tried and I can't, and that's not true
anymore. I built like
a little altar to my woo-woo mental health
and self-care routine.
On it, it has my vision board, which has my
(46:51):
tiny farm vision, petite
acres. It has, trademark. Petite Acres. It
has my meditation pillow.
It has my crystals. It has my tarot cards.
It has
[Dana] (47:05):
I love that.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (47:06):
grounding incense. Right
now I am burning sandalwood because she up
to no good. And then
[Kelly Matkovich] (47:15):
We are here to help you.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (47:16):
also I recently acquired
the TheraBody
[Kelly Matkovich] (47:21):
All right.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (47:21):
Smart Mask, which is...
incredible. So it's like, you know, it kind
of looks like a sleeping
mask, but it applies, and by the way, this
is not sponsored by
them either. Like I paid with money for it.
It applies heat and
massage to your temples, forehead, and around
(47:42):
your eyes.
[Dana] (47:43):
Oh, that sounds so good.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (47:44):
And it pairs with their
app, like the TheraBody app. So I can select
either like sleep, focus,
or I think the third one is stress. but I use
the focus routine, which
is different for when I'm meditating. And then
if I go to sleep, I
use sleep and it puts me out.
[Dana] (48:06):
amazing.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (48:06):
So this mask is deeply
effective. I really like it for meditation.
Honestly, today,
so I try to like visualize
what I want to go right in my life, what I
want for my future,
what I want for a sweat life while I'm meditating.
So I do this whole like
visualization. And since I got the mask, I've
(48:27):
been getting idea, idea
while I'm doing that. Today, I presented this
whole strategy to Kelly.
All of that came to me, by the way, when I
was meditating today.
[Dana] (48:39):
I love that, I need that.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (48:40):
Yeah, so that's mindless,
but mindfulness. And we all need that $200
TheraBody mask. I added
[Dana] (48:48):
That sounds
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (48:48):
it
[Dana] (48:48):
amazing.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (48:48):
to the gift guide the
second I got it. That's
[Dana] (48:53):
Lots of
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (48:54):
all
[Dana] (48:54):
good
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (48:54):
for
[Dana] (48:54):
links
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (48:54):
us.
[Dana] (48:54):
in this week, I feel like. Lots of good
resources
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (48:56):
Yeah.
[Dana] (48:57):
at round.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (48:58):
I'm gonna be busy linking
to all of Lay's shit. Well, this has been another
episode of We Got Goals,
which is in a sweatlif.com production, and
another thing that's
better with friends. It is also the end of
season eight, so we'll
be taking a little bit of a break as we get
ready for season nine.
Look for that to come to a podcasting platform
near you in September.
In the meantime, go back, listen, rate, review,
(49:22):
like, subscribe, all
the stuff you do with podcasts while we're
making the new stuff.
Thanks to Ryan Duffa for editing, Ryan Berriuga
for radio production,
to Kelly Matkiewicz and Dana Farber for joining
me today. Bye. Goodbye,
[Dana] (49:35):
Bye.
[Kelly Matkovich] (49:35):
Bye.
[Jeana Anderson Cohen] (49:36):
goodbye, goodbye. and
Maverick the dog, thanks to Maverick.
