WTAW news time is three minutes after seven at sixty
seven degrees. News is presented by Gilmore Electric Express, voted
best electrician of the Brass Valley for home electrical service.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Don't settle for less.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Called Gilmore Electric Express at nine seven nine seven seven light.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Good morning. I'm Chelsea Reeber.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Questions about Brazos County government cyber security came up before
county commissioners approved an eight month extension of its insurance coverage.
The county's chief Information security Officer, Kevin Joiner, said the
insurance meets their needs.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
It's not just protection from ransomware or hackers getting in
and breaking our firewalls. It's protection from our cybersecurity process
is being breached as well.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Risk Manager Leslie Contreraz says the insurance also protects county employees.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
We have one thousand employees, and our employees are only human.
They are our greatest resource, but they are also our
biggest liability. And that is just the way it is
for every corporate business. That's the way it is for
every governmental entity.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Commissioners were also told there have been attempts to compromise
Brass County's network, but none have been successful. Additional information
was provided about delays in two state highway projects in
Brass County. Dan Rudge of the Metropolitan Planning Organization told
the MPO's policy Board about not resuming construction on Texas
Avenue in Brian until April of twenty twenty eight.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
The cost increase deals mostly with traffic signals.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
In MLK on Third Street at Sulver Springs.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
But it also due to an updated estimate along with
additional inflation added to the estimate because of the later
letting date, and an interchange at Welburn Road in George
Bush Drive that's been in various stages since nineteen ninety
nine will not start construction until July of twenty twenty seven.
Rudgsted Union Pacific Railroad is not agreed to hardly anything
related to that project. College Station police and fire spent

(01:54):
part of yesterday at the intersection where Texas crosses Walton
and New Maine that followed a collision between an suv
and to moped. A CSPD spokesman says the moped driver,
who was wearing a helmet, suffered serious but non life
threatening injuries. The driver of the suv was ticketed for
failing to yield the right of way. More than one
hundred per people participated in this week's City of College

(02:14):
Station public meeting regarding a proposal to end overnight parking
in neighborhoods east and south of the Texas A and
M Campus.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
My takeaway would be that we had excellent turnout. I
was amazed, room was full.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Mayor John Nichols reviewed his observations during a visit on
our show.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
The audience was quite engaged, and it wasn't really just
talking to staff members at the various tables. There was
about seven stations that you could talk to different people,
code enforcement, transportation, fire and so forth.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Nichol said he was intrigued by the dialogue between A
and M students and longtime residents of the affected neighborhoods.
The Texas A and M System Board of Regents could
name an interim president at the Flagship University tomorrow afternoon,
the Regent's second special meeting, and as many fridays, it's
at two thirty by again going behind closed doors, where
the board spent more than four hours last week. The

(03:05):
agenda also calls for a private discussion about legal matters
that could include settlement offers. This follows the Regent's action
last week to approve a settlement offer to former President
Mark Welsh. Tomorrow is the twentieth anniversary of First Friday
in Downtown Brian.

Speaker 6 (03:20):
Maybe you haven't been in a while, or you've never
been before. It's a great event, so we're really excited.

Speaker 7 (03:25):
We're going to have.

Speaker 6 (03:25):
Extra things going on in celebration of Firsus Friday.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Lena Adams of the Destination Brian Tourism Office as Anniversary
related events include giving out two thousand T shirts and
debuting a new Legends video. WTAW news time is six
minutes after seven. It's sixty seven degrees. News is presented
by Gilmore Electric Express More News at seven thirty or
online at.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
WTAW dot com.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
I'm Chelsea Reber for sixteen twenty ninety four to five WTAW.

Speaker 8 (03:53):
Hey, good morning. It's infilm AYACX on a Thursday morning.
It's time for some weather. It's brought you by Unit
Working sheet Metal, home of the Dura Last roof system
world's best roof? Can we call it two six eight roof?
Go to the United Roofingpros dot Com Northeast winds again
this morning, only going to get up to about ninety
four or so, tight down to probably sixty nine, and
then looking for sunny skies on Friday and Saturday, with

(04:14):
a high temperature around ninety or so. Low temperatures will
be in the upper sixties. And we're still hanging in
pretty nice out there at sixty six.

Speaker 7 (04:21):
Dallas Cowboys receiver Ced Lamb maybe back from his high
ankle sprain sooner than expected. We'll talk about that and
more coming up in sports. Speaking of playing through injury,
the champion for this year in Alaska's Fat Bear Week
has been named. And this guy came through after suffering
a broken jaw wow June, oh wow, in order to

(04:42):
win a brown bear named thirty two. Chunk has claimed
the chick. How about that dude, and he has done
an amazing job. He took out all kinds of different
bears here, including two time champion one twenty eight Grazier.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Ooh yeah, I remember him naming his name.

Speaker 7 (05:00):
Eight fifty six was this year's runner up.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Okay, yeah, Chunk is is that he is. He is
a big boy.

Speaker 7 (05:07):
He's healthy for sure, yeap.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
He's pretty large.

Speaker 7 (05:10):
So a broken jaw in June, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
That's wild. I slow him down. Yeah, I was gonna say,
I guess he just kind of slurped that salmon down.

Speaker 7 (05:17):
Maybe it unhinged his jaw like a python or something
so he could eat bigger salmon.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
I wonder how they knew that, And how do how
do you I mean without truly like not a funny question,
like without surgery or something.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
How does it? Does it just fix itself?

Speaker 7 (05:32):
Nature finds a way sometimes, But yeah, you don't. You're
not going to put him down and you know, strap
him down and fix his jaw on surgery, I don't guess.

Speaker 8 (05:40):
So we're out in the wild and our guide stops
in front of a zebra and he points to the
zebra and he says, look at the skin pattern, and
you could see that it doesn't line up.

Speaker 7 (05:51):
The stripes didn't line up.

Speaker 8 (05:53):
And what had happened is that a cat had attacked
that zebra and torn the side of his body open
and that so we asked, did you do something to
help with the healing? He said no, that animal went
back into the wild, and whatever happened, they were able
to the skin reattached, but you could tell because of

(06:15):
the pattern that it had come unattached.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
So yeah, so it says here he had the odds
stacked against him. According to explore dot org, the naturally
large bear arrived at Brooks River this year with a
broken jaw, likely the result of a fight with another
brown bear over a mate. Bears at Katmai National Park
do not receive veterinary care, so animal experts were unsure

(06:38):
how Chunk would adapt to his injury. The bear managed
to pivot quickly, learning how to catch and consume salmon
with his injured jaw. His perseverance allowed him to bulk
up and get a spot in the final Fat Bear
Week mashup.

Speaker 7 (06:51):
I mean, think about it, that's wild. That is what
they have to do to say mind, I have advil.
They can't be wired.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
She can't be wired shut.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
I mean, I know people have broken jaws and it
is not something that just to fix. I guess it
would eventually maybe fix itself.

Speaker 8 (07:07):
But that is impressive. Well, and shout out to Chunk
in the world of wild animals pain tolerance. I mean
that if that's what it takes, sure to work through
that pain to survive.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Just thinking of when like Dottie kind of like you know,
it's her little paw and she's like, oh, I know,
our dogs they just you know, nothing like the Brown
Bears of Alaska.

Speaker 7 (07:32):
Like my last dog is a whimp, Maggie. Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 8 (07:37):
But oh, so we need to call our winner from yesterday.

Speaker 7 (07:42):
Yeah, I don't remember.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
He's also texted in today. So he's up.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Yeah, he's up. He's hopefully ready to answer the phone.
We were talking about a coffee table.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah, that's it. Yeah, do you or do you not
have one?

Speaker 7 (07:54):
Yeah? Okay, all right. So anyway, so we're gonna see
if he can, we'll figure out.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
And this is a winner Brass's Valley Fair and Rodeo
ticket exactly.

Speaker 7 (08:05):
Oh, come on, come on, you can do it.

Speaker 8 (08:09):
You you textas hello, it's what this is Scott and Chelsea,
it will it's the Infomdy accident and congratulations on winning yesterday.

Speaker 7 (08:19):
What yesterday you did?

Speaker 1 (08:22):
You did? We just didn't have time to call you, yes, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 7 (08:28):
So yeah, we were.

Speaker 8 (08:29):
Discussing other stuff and uh we never got around in
calling you. So we've got Brass's Valley Fair and Rodeo
tickets for you. That's coming up. The question was do
you have a coffee table? Sometimes I can see it.

Speaker 7 (08:42):
Yeah, under all the laundry.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yes, under all the laundry.

Speaker 8 (08:45):
All right, so how long have you had the coffee table?
Oh yeah, yeah, I know, I know. Yeah, and so
so basically it functions as a close holder or whatever,
and that's that's the whole idea is.

Speaker 7 (09:00):
So you don't need that close feet and drinks.

Speaker 8 (09:02):
Yeah, okay, you don't need that room necessarily for anything else.
All right, well, look, congratulations, you've got that. Thanks for
entering today. I'm gonna tell you're not gonna win today.
So but but hey, listen while you're on the phone,
so tell us about your last time that you used
duct tape.

Speaker 7 (09:18):
Yeah, well there's so many times. But recently I've got
a car where the seats are a little ripped and yeah,
oh gotcha. Yeah, there you are. Well, it's hard to
find a good postry shop these days. That certainly makes sense. Okay,
all right, top of the guaranty Bak building. Got tickets
for the affair and rodeo. Enjoy yourself, Thank you, buddy.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Thanks much.

Speaker 7 (09:35):
All right, bye, yeah there you go. Yeah, so that's
our question for today.

Speaker 8 (09:41):
And we've got tickets for the rodeo and the Renaissance
Festival and that is, uh, what was the last thing
you used duct tape for?

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Let us know, let us know, text us with your
first and last name. Nine seventy nine six sixteen twenty
is the number.

Speaker 7 (09:56):
All right.

Speaker 8 (09:56):
So we decided, you know, we have bird and so
one of my sons sent us a bird feeder that
has this bird tower, bird seed tower that you just
put in there. Okay, it's wrapped in cellophane and you
stick it in there and it's already glombed together and

(10:18):
you hang it out there and let the birds eat
it and they go crazy. Well, they knocked that thing
out in about a week. So I went to get
a new seed tower, if you will, that would replace
the one that he gave us. And I bought one
and I felt okay because it went to the American
audibon In Society. But it cost me ten bucks and

(10:39):
the birds did it in about three days.

Speaker 7 (10:41):
They're done.

Speaker 8 (10:41):
I mean they're out there tapping their little feets, going
I want some more of this. Well, I'm not going
to spend ten dollars every three days to feed birds.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
That's wild. I'm not gonna do that.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (10:51):
Now, the good thing about it is it's not sunflower
seeds because they leave the shells all over the ground,
and that's you know, that's a whole nother story. So
these are consumable, you know, that's it. Anyway, I go
to YouTube, and of course you can find a way
to do that. And there's some guy who shows this
recipe using gelatin. Okay, you know the noox gelatin. You

(11:13):
may not even know what NOx gelatin is. Chelsea, you
know what that is? Okay, I think so, okay, I
know you do.

Speaker 7 (11:17):
Well, it's it's the kind of stuff that you would
use to if.

Speaker 8 (11:21):
You wanted to make jello without jello. I mean, that's
that's what makes gello happen, is whole stuff together. So
what you do is you put measured amount of seeds
into this bucket and you mix up this gelatin in
water and you pour it in there and you stir
it around, and then you put it into a container,
these seeds that have been covered in the gelatin concoction,

(11:44):
and you you drive a piece of dow through it,
a little piece of wood because you've got to have
a hole to stick it on the bird feeder. When
you're done, so you do that, shove it into the refrigerator,
and you let it sit overnight.

Speaker 7 (11:56):
Okay, okay, then you pull it out following Okay, more obligation.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
I know, I've been dolls, I know, I know.

Speaker 7 (12:03):
But if I'm going to do this for birds, you
know every week?

Speaker 2 (12:07):
What happened to? Just like a bird feeder with seeds?

Speaker 7 (12:10):
Then you got to go and open the top and
you got to dump them in there. And yeah, that sounds.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Well, that sounds harder than building jello.

Speaker 8 (12:20):
I wanted to repurpose the bird feeder that my study
had given.

Speaker 7 (12:23):
Me to use.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
How's that?

Speaker 8 (12:25):
Okay, that's a good reason anyway, So I made a batch,
I mean, and so I got to get it out
of there, and I did. And the problem is I
obviously did not use the correct equation in making the
gelatine liquid because as I stuck it on there, the
bottom collapsed. Oh goodness, yes, So now I've got this,
really this junkie pile of seed.

Speaker 7 (12:47):
And of course Jackie's watching out of the window, laughing.

Speaker 8 (12:49):
Hysterics because I'm trying to sneak it out there with
her not seeing it anyway, So I hung it up
and the birds of eating it.

Speaker 7 (12:55):
They've they've done that.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
So now I have.

Speaker 8 (12:57):
To decide, and I'm going to try one more time
with the gelatin before I start thinking like thirty bucks
a month into bird feed.

Speaker 7 (13:05):
Tapioca starch in there? Well, that you know, and that's
what I need.

Speaker 8 (13:08):
That's what I thought when when we mentioned tapioca starch
this morning, it might be something that you could use.

Speaker 7 (13:15):
You should use that and then post it on the
tiki Taki Scott.

Speaker 8 (13:18):
No, well, yeah, I don't do that though. That's it
all right? Now, do you guys know about corn starch?
We've talked about corn starch before, right.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
Do I know about corn starch? Like, is there a secret?

Speaker 7 (13:26):
There is?

Speaker 8 (13:27):
There is a secret about it. Okay, corn starch is magic.
If you take cornstarch and you put water in it,
and you put just the right amount, you know that
it becomes liquid. But if you, for instance, punch it,
it's solid. You can pick it up and make a
ball out of it.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
And then yeah, this was science experiments and we were.

Speaker 8 (13:44):
Little exactly and I'm thinking this tapioca stuff is kind
of similar to that in that it's a coagulator if
you will, and causes that to hand.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Your stool is extra squeaky this morning.

Speaker 7 (13:54):
Well, I'm sorry, I can't do anything about that. Well,
there's a there's a screw loos and the stool.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
You know, I think I was so zoned out about
the bird feeding situation.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
All I could hear was your stool squeaks.

Speaker 7 (14:09):
But the thing is, I've tried to bring nature to
my home, and you know, as you live in the country,
I know.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
They will just show up. I've got armadillos in my
apartment complex.

Speaker 7 (14:21):
Okay, yeah, trash, yeah, all right, Okay.

Speaker 8 (14:24):
Anyway, so I'm gonna try it one more time and
we'll see if that works. It's seven see it fo
Maniacs on a Thursday morning. Peanut butter is one of
the great foods of old time.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Peanut butter.

Speaker 7 (14:34):
It's irresistible, You're.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Resistible, and it's even better when you pair it with
something delicious.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Like jelly, oh, your honey.

Speaker 7 (14:41):
Sometimes.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Yeah, we have talked or chocolate, I mean truly, bacon.
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
We could go on and on with peanut butter, but
we have talked about this lovely, fun food a couple
of times. On the show, Uncrustables is getting into the
protein game. They are upping its protein intake with the
launch of some new product, so we know them.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
We love them. Uncrustables.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
They are these little frozen sandwiches that are peanut butter
and jelly.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
The crust is cut off.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
They're basically like little pockets of a peanut butter and
jelly sandwich. They've become very popular amongst the athletes, amongst
teams because since they are initially frozen, you can kind
of throw them in a bag or you know, have
them on the bench or in the team locker room
and they'll kind of thaw out and they are super
quick and easy to eat. I can't remember which NFL

(15:30):
team it was, but they apparently went through like thousands
and thousands of dollars of uncrustables every month.

Speaker 7 (15:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Well, now they are getting into this like high protein.
Everybody's talking about protein. They are releasing several new higher
protein uncrustable options that promise to support a more balanced
start to the day without compromise compromising on taste or convenience.
So the new offerings include higher protein Peebe and J's Uncrustables,

(15:59):
Bright Eyed By Sandwich, and Uncrustables Up and Apple Sandwich.
Each contain twelve grams of protein per serving. In addition
to the protein, all of the new Uncrustable sandwiches feature
more fiber and whole grains. They will be available for
purchase at select retailers starting this month.

Speaker 7 (16:17):
Up twelve is twelve grams A lot is that. I'm
not a mouse.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
It's for the size of this thing.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Yes, portion, Yes, I would say it is.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Bride eyed Berry is a peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich.
The up and Apple is a peanut butter and apple
cinnamon sandwich, which that is new.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
I have never heard of that.

Speaker 7 (16:37):
That sounds good.

Speaker 8 (16:37):
Noo, cinnamon and apple inside there? Correct, Okay, yep.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
They say.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
The new editions complement their existing lineup of grape, strawberry, honey, raspberry,
chocolate flavored hazelnuts, spread reduced sugar, grape reduced sugar, strawberry,
and other seasonal limited addition flavors. I had no idea
that had so many different I think I've had grape
and strawberries.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Those are the two that I've had.

Speaker 7 (17:04):
That's what most of us know about.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
Well, they have a lot more out there, and maybe
it's I also haven't eaten an Uncrustable and been a
long time, but they have definitely been expanding the brand.

Speaker 7 (17:16):
Got it all right? So let's see.

Speaker 8 (17:17):
It says protein should account for ten to thirty five
percent of your calories, So your daily intake, if you're
doing two thousand calories, probably fifty of one hundred and
seventy five grams of protein a day. So the thing is, though,
I mean, you can, well you can need a lot
of Yeah, just one, you know.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
And I really would.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
I'm thinking, you know, if you're just grabbing a snack
and you're thinking, okay, how can I make this a
little bit better for me and filling?

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Like protein? The nice part about protein, it really.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Does fill you up, and it should help kind of,
you know, if you're angry and you need to just
grab something quickly. I could see how a regular uncrustable
with like what four grand protein is not going to
be as filling.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
I mean, these things aren't big. They're like the size
of the palm of your hand.

Speaker 7 (18:05):
Yeah, they really.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
So if you can, you know, slam twelve grams of
protein in three bites like that, that's pretty good.

Speaker 7 (18:11):
Yeah, I would think so. And it tastes good too.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
I prefer I think there are better ways to get
protein where you're not eating this like processed bread sandwich,
but or bread.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
I don't know what it is, but they are tasty.
They are tasty.

Speaker 7 (18:25):
Yeah, sometimes you cray something that's just a little sweet
that you don't want to go over the top.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
You know.

Speaker 7 (18:29):
That's I'm actually going to go to the groceratorium and
pick up some.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Of the WTAW news time is seven thirty one, It's
sixty seven degrees. News is presented by American Momentum Bank
Building Financial Success, one client at a time, Equal Housing
Linder Member FDIC.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
Good morning, I'm Chelsea Reeber.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
The Brownsas County governmental body that deals with transportation issues
approves delays in two state projects. The director of the
Metropolitan Planning Organization, Dan Rudge, told the MPO's policy board
that Union Pacific Railroad is the reason that the start
of building the interchange at Welburn Road and George Bush
Drive is delayed from this December until July of twenty

(19:07):
twenty seven.

Speaker 9 (19:08):
We've been in discussions for a paradelle time with Anian Pacific.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
We haven't gotten resolution on just about any issue that
we meet with any.

Speaker 5 (19:16):
Pasupik and so unfortunately that's what it is that railroad
is here first and so we.

Speaker 7 (19:23):
Have to county grower.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Rudd said on Texas Avenue in Brian there's a cost
increase to replace signals at Sulfur Springs Road and at MLK.
That project won't resume construction until April of twenty twenty eight.
Traffic on Texas in front of Texas A and M
was slowed down yesterday following the collision of a moped
and an suv. A College Station police spokesman says the
moped driver suffered serious, non life threatening injuries. The moped

(19:46):
driver was wearing a helmet. The driver of the suv
was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way.
The first of the month usually means rent is due well.
Brian Police received calls from residents saying there's a scam
that the Brian Police Department would be paying rent. BPD's
Facebook post says, unfortunately and with sad news that is
not us. BBD instructions renters to continue getting your rent

(20:08):
money in as usual. Brazzo's County Commissioners approving an eight
month extension of its cybersecurity insurance coverage at this week's
meeting came after questions from Commissioner Bentley nettles, there's.

Speaker 5 (20:19):
A period of time that we had the denial service
of texts that were successful. Goods our network. No, have
we had your network penetrotion.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
No, We've had people knocking at the door.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
The county's Chief Information Security Officer, Kevin Joyner, said, the
cyber insurance meets their needs.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
I am very cautious about throwing a ton of money.
I don't see that as an answer. I want to
be We're going to select this, we're going to implement it,
We're going to implement it well and fully, and we're
going to reassess where we are and then we're going
to go.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Commissioners were also told from their risk manager that the
insurance is also a protection should county employees click on
links that lead to security issues. College Station Mayor John
Nichols is among those attending this week's public meeting on
a proposal to end overnight parking in neighborhoods south and
east of the Texas A and UM campus.

Speaker 5 (21:09):
The target we're aiming at as the impact of the
unintended over occupancy, which now could overflow tremendously given the
there is no ordinance that we can follow that deals
with occupancy.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
Nichols observed the dialogue between A and M students and
longtime homeowners.

Speaker 5 (21:24):
I was intrigued by how much interaction there was between
the long term citizens and the students, and that was great.
That goes really good. And that was just one on one.
I mean, they had nothing to do with city staff.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
Or anything, Nichols said.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
City staff set up seven stations where information was available.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
For the second.

Speaker 1 (21:40):

Speaker 7 (23:13):
It's a Thursday, Good morning.

Speaker 8 (23:14):
The informatis glad you're with us this morning, seven point
thirty eight. Out there, here's the weather. It's brought to
you by the folks in Malick and Carrier. They can
keep your home or your business comfortable no matter what's
going on in the weather outside Malick.

Speaker 7 (23:26):
Feel the difference. Ninety four or so for a high temperature. Today.

Speaker 8 (23:29):
Got those northeasterly winds again this morning, down to the
upper sixties. Tonight's going to continue that pattern, maybe not
quite so warm on Friday or Saturday. We may not
even make ninety on Saturday, which would be nice with
easterly winds, and then we're going to be cooling down
in the sixties.

Speaker 7 (23:43):
Right now. We've got the sixty seven out there. It's
ags and longhorns tonight on the soccer pitch starting about
seven o'clock. We'll talk about that and more coming up
in sports.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
All right.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
We are asking you guys this morning what is the
last thing that you used duck tape for? And we
are giving away tickets to the Brasses Valley Fair in
Rodeo and the Texas Renaissance Festival. Somebody texted in they
used duct tape to work on removing a wart. Yes, which, yes,
that is definitely something you can do. Somebody said, I
keep a roll of duct tape on the work truck
for many reasons. The last time it was used was

(24:14):
to tape up a broken cooler handle that was cutting
my coworkers and scratching your underarm as he reached in
to get some nice cold water, so had to cover
up a little you know, sharp edge to it. I
guess somebody else said the last time I used duct
tape was pure parenting chaos. I accidentally sat on the
tail of my daughter's curtain and the whole front pole

(24:37):
of the curtain rod snapped. While we waited until we
got a new one, I channeled my inter mcguiver and
duct taped it to the other pole.

Speaker 7 (24:44):
You didn't even need a new one.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
So now now her room has custom duct tape. She
shurtens only truly one of a kid. Yeah love that.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Yeah, textas and we'd love to hear from you guys
this morning. So we we mentioned Ryan Seacrest earlier in
the show, and one of his mini gigs right now
is Wheel of Fortune. Well, this week they made history.
Christina dari Yannick. She can now buy a lot more
than a vowel. The woman who is from Stanford, Connecticut,

(25:14):
made game show history on Tuesday when she won the
most money ever on a single episode of Wheel of Fortune.
Her piled up winnings told one million, thirty five thousand,
one hundred and fifty five dollars after she.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
Won the one million dollars prize. Sure yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
Christina got off to something of a slow start, failing
to win either of the two toss ups to open
the show. She caught a break though during the first
puzzle when she landed on the one million dollar wedge
during a spin. She then landed on another wedge for
a trip to Montana before solving the puzzle, which netted
her total of ten thousand, five hundred, ten thousand, five

(25:54):
hundred thousand dollars. Whatever, anyway, she didn't win. It, goes
on to explain how she kind of ended up piling
up all of her winnings. But what's crazy about this
one is you know you still you have to land
on the one million dollar wedge to even potentially win exactly.
She spun the wheel, landed on the ampersand and easily

(26:15):
solved the puzzle in the living things category pack of coyotes.
Seacrest then showed her the envelope which said one million
confetti rained down from the ceiling. He even got pretty emotional,
He said, you're shaking.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
I'm in tears.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
She was jumping up and down, of course, hugging him
and Vana White. You're a millionaire, he said, when the
audience continued applauding.

Speaker 7 (26:40):
One cool part of that story right there, was that
I guess her boss was in the audience too, And
apparently before she played, she shared that her boss was there,
and Seacrest asked what she planned to do she won
the million dollar prize. She said, I may be putting
in my two weeks notice, but we won't tell her
that she choked. Well, it's news there, she's right there.

Speaker 5 (26:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
She then joked and said her boss will have a
discussion when they get back to the office. Now, this
is even crazier. So she joins a very exclusive club,
becoming just the fourth person to win the one million
dollar prize on Wheel of Fortune.

Speaker 7 (27:12):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
Yeah, and she's the first one to do it since
Ryan Seacrest took over as the host a.

Speaker 7 (27:17):
Million dollars yep in a game show in a.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Game show one episode right, one episode boom, Because I
know what's his name on Jeopardy GiB right, Ken Jennings. Yeah,
it was on it for like how so many episodes. Yeah, exactly,
so shout out to Christina.

Speaker 7 (27:33):
Good for her.

Speaker 8 (27:33):
All right, So holiday in Express is testing a new
way to wake you up in the morning. How about
scent based alarm clocks.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
Oh okay, what kind of sent am I going to
be smelling?

Speaker 8 (27:48):
Works like a diffuser to release the scent that you want?

Speaker 1 (27:52):
For sure?

Speaker 8 (27:53):
Apparently they're trying different options right now. This is not
available in US America. They're doing this in Australia and
New Zealand, so that if it goes badly, we're not
supposed to ever know about it, but we're here to take.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
Get all the fun.

Speaker 7 (28:06):
You can't see this going badly at all. I don't
think a scent would wake me up, but I mean
maybe the scent of like smoke.

Speaker 8 (28:12):
Yeah, no, houses on fire? Yeah, so coffee, bacon, blueberry muffin.
In Japan they're using pear, and in Singapore and Thailand
they're using mango. Here's an influence, sir, if you will
telling us a little about it.

Speaker 9 (28:28):
What if your alarm clock didn't sound like this, but
it smelled like your favorite breakfast scent? Hold An Express
just launched the world's first breakfast alarm clock it literally
wakes you up to the smell of coffee, bacon or
blue grow muffin.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
Okay, I mean this sounds pleasant, yeah, will it actually
wake you up? And you know again this is it's
not real bacon, it's not real blueberry muffin. It's a scent.
So like how you know, how spot on is that scent?
How fake does it smell? You know, like is it
is it pleasant or is it like for overpowering.

Speaker 8 (29:01):
Anytime anybody deals with the public, what they want to
do is they want to leave a good experience with you, right.
They want to make sure that you have a good
feeling when you've used their product or service. So the
idea of not a hotel exactly, it's because they want
you to come back. And you know, I presume Holiday
Inn Express has breakfast, because a lot of hotels like

(29:23):
that do a breakfast. If they don't have many frills
in the hallway, they usually have some sort of a
waffle for you to eat. So this is part of
what it's about. They want you to think about that
being a good experience. If you're someone who could sleep
through any smell, even an entire diner operating inside your room,
well they do have regular, what you know, wake up
calls in that kind of everybody.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
But the last time you used a wake up call.

Speaker 8 (29:48):
When I was on vacation just recently, because we had
to be up at five o'clock in the morning, and
so they called us automatically.

Speaker 7 (29:55):
Okay, automatic, But I didn't see a wake up decades.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
I mean yeah, because well, also, the phone ringing in
any hotel room is one of the worst noises in
the world. They always seem extra loud. And now everybody
has a cell phone now that they use.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
To set their alarm.

Speaker 8 (30:11):
Yep, most definitely, So I don't know, this will be
It's an interesting idea.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Right, and would it be you know, obviously I would
probably still set my alarm, but I would use this
just for fun, Like ooh, I wonder what that's gonna
be like to wake up to the smell of coffee,
because I do like that, and you know, like you said,
will like I like all of those sets. I don't
know the last time I woke up because I was
smelling something.

Speaker 7 (30:34):
I can't think of it. And people in my house, I.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Mean, Dottie never gets up before me and makes the bacon.

Speaker 7 (30:38):
Yeah, people in my house. I mean an earthquake won't
wake them up, right, I don't think a scent will.
But but and again, I think I think you hit
it will.

Speaker 8 (30:46):
The only smell it's going to wake you up is
something like smoke, Carrie.

Speaker 7 (30:50):
I mean, we're something that completely disgusting, that wake up gagging.
Good morning. I'm will welch with your morning's sports updates
on sixteen to twenty ninety four to five WTAW. The
number nine Texas A and M volleyball team won its
sixth straight matches it down the South Carolina game Cocks

(31:10):
last night at the Carolina Volleyball Center. The Aggies secured
their best start to conference play since twenty twenty, winning
their third consecutive league match. AM's Logan Ledniki and Kendall
Stowers led the offense with eighteen kills each, while a
Fennecassack Palla recorded her second double digit block game of
conference play. The Merdin White stay on the road as

(31:31):
they had to Tuscaloosa for a Sunday match against the
Crimson Tide First Serve cent for two PM. Texas A
and M's Mario Crab was added to the watch list
for the Bolitnikoff Award, it was announced yesterday, which is
annually presented to the outstanding receiver in college football. Craver,
a sophomore from Birmingham, Alabama, has emerged as one of
the nation's most dangerous receiving threats. He leads the SEC

(31:55):
in receiving yards per game and ranks number two nationally
with an average of a hundred and nineteen point three yards. Additionally,
he ranks number seven in punt returns at twenty point
three yards per return. The first Cotton Holdings Lone Star
Showdown point of the season, he is up for grabs
as the A and M soccer team hosts the Texas
Longhorns tonight seven o'clock at Ellis Field. Here's coach g.

Speaker 5 (32:19):
There's no gimmes in this league, so you've got to
continue your positive steps forward to like I said, breakthrough,
and we're so darn close. That's the big thing.

Speaker 7 (32:30):
The match airs nationally on the SEC Network. The Aggies
most a twenty one, seven and two edge in the
all time series. Texas and in baseball begins fall exhibition
action Friday night with a twelve inning scrimmage against Sam Houston,
starting at six o'clock at Olson Field at Bluebell Park.
Admission and parking are free to the public and concessions
will be open. The Houston Astros were the most successful

(32:53):
team in twenty twenty five when it comes to video
review challenges. They were successful in seventy one point nine
percent of their challenges. Texas and Baltimore had the lowest
success rate at forty point four percent. As the Texans
get ready to take on the Baltimore Ravens this weekend,
the odds are swinging to Houston's favor. With an injury

(33:14):
update to Ravens QB Lamar Jackson that has him missing
this game and perhaps others, the odds have taken the
Texans from an underdog to a slight favorite. This contest
is slated for noon on Sunday. Dallas Cowboys receiver Cede
Lamb has been seen without a walking boot for the
first time since suffering a high ankle sprain last week
against Green Bay. While there's no firm return date for Lamb,

(33:37):
he has not been placed on injured reserve, which makes
it sound like the Cowboys expect him back on the
field sooner rather than later, and him consolidated and Rudder
High football both enjoy a bye this week, but there
is still plenty of area high school football action on
tap Tomorrow night. Lugerville Hendrickson travels to College Station High.
The Vikings are on the road versus copperce Cove. For

(33:58):
all the schedules, score and standings, just go to Brasssfootball
dot com. That's your morning sports update on sixteen, twenty
ninety four to five WTAW. I'm will welch hey that
four minutes table cemfor many asks. Good morning.

Speaker 8 (34:12):
It's a Thursday gledger with us this morning. So our
question is what is the last thing you used duct
tape for?

Speaker 7 (34:19):
Let us know about that today.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
You guys are giving me all sorts of ideas.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
We argument away tickets, so make sure to include your
first and last name if you want to go to
the Brasses Valley Fair and Rodeo and the Texas Renaissance Festival.
The number is nine seven nine six ninety five sixteen twenty.

Speaker 7 (34:33):
It's a survey.

Speaker 8 (34:34):
We learned that fifty one percent of you are currently
using duct tape to hold something together in your house,
and another one in three are using it to hold
something together or on your car.

Speaker 7 (34:47):
Oh yeah, apar.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
We're been getting a lot of car a lot of car.

Speaker 8 (34:51):
Text well now because I mean, if you look at
what they make cars out of, there's a lot of
plastic on there now, and so as a result, DUC
tape can work really really well. And maybe that's that's
the reason they have color coded tape now, not for decoration.

Speaker 7 (35:03):
It's so they blending it in yep, yep, to so.

Speaker 8 (35:06):
That people don't understand the stupid thing that you tried
to do with your car.

Speaker 7 (35:09):
You know.

Speaker 8 (35:10):
So AI is here to help us in so many ways, right,
I mean, don't we hear about that? They say in
touch Insight released its annual drive through study, and despite
AI's help, if you will, America's drive throughs got a
little bit slower this year. The average is now five
minutes and thirty five seconds. That's up about nine seconds

(35:31):
from last year. Of the fast food places that they
looked at, Taco Bell was the fastest.

Speaker 7 (35:38):
Really, No, And.

Speaker 8 (35:40):
Then it says KFC, and then it says Tim Horton's,
and then it says Arby's.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
Now, why do y'all doubt Taco Bell?

Speaker 7 (35:46):
I'm just saying I'm not doubting Taco Bell. I'm just
there's a big one missing from the list there. Chick
fil A has the best drive through ever.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
They had the best. I wouldn't say it's the.

Speaker 7 (35:55):
Fastest, that's it. They had the slowest.

Speaker 8 (35:57):
In fact, yeah, because so many people like that seven
minutes in six seconds.

Speaker 7 (36:01):
I've never waited seven minutes.

Speaker 8 (36:02):
But only and again it's because of like you said,
it's the longer line.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
It depends on when you go, but there's almost all
the time there there are. And yes, they have done
everything they can to try and speed up the process
because of the volume. But and I think because of
the quality, people don't mind waiting in that line.

Speaker 7 (36:21):
So conversely, then tonco Bell doesn't have anybody show up,
and that's why they can get through so fast.

Speaker 8 (36:26):
Well, we decided they only have you know, five items,
just they recombine everything. They actually when it comes to
Chick fil A, they actually rank first if you look
at total number of cars in line.

Speaker 7 (36:37):
That has to have something to do with it.

Speaker 8 (36:38):
Oh yeah, they also rank first, of course when it
comes to friendliness and overall satisfaction.

Speaker 7 (36:43):
Sure now not counting your coffee chains.

Speaker 8 (36:45):
Burger King and Wendy's rank first in accuracy oh, okay,
but they're.

Speaker 7 (36:50):
Only getting eighty eight percent. Is that good enough? I mean,
is that not enough when it comes to considering all
the variables there? It's not good enough, but it's not bad.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
Think about though, Like if somebody asked for an extra
sauce packet and they don't get it, and they respond
to this survey and they say, oh, my order was
not accurate, but they got all the other twenty seven
items correct.

Speaker 8 (37:10):
You know, if they do, that's that's that's probably what.
All right, here we go. It's almost eight o'clock.

Speaker 7 (37:15):
It's Thursday. It's time for jokes as well. All right,
here we go. You guys know what they call a
fish with no eyes? They called a fish with no eyesh?
Oh all right. What's the best thing about Switzerland? You
guys know you have a favorite thing.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
About the split right, yeah.

Speaker 7 (37:30):
Well it could be chocolate, but for me, the flag
is a big plus. Ah oh yeah, right, you guys,
hear about the cheese factory explosion in France. Debris was everywhere.
Oh for good?

Speaker 2 (37:43):
All right.

Speaker 7 (37:44):
What's the difference between a poorly dressed man on a
unicycle and a well dressed man on a bicycle?

Speaker 4 (37:49):
All right?

Speaker 8 (37:50):
What what a tire tire? All right, it's a Thursday feature.
You can send us jokes if you want to. We
may not use them, but we might. It's jokes every
Thursday with Will. So they're more than sixty one million
people using pagers back in nineteen ninety four, sixty one
million now basically two million, and they're mostly used in hospitals,

(38:14):
movies and TV shows that feature time traveler band in China.

Speaker 7 (38:19):
Really yep, So don't bring your quantum leap over there
if you happen to be going to Beijing. That's just
how bizarre it is.

Speaker 8 (38:25):
