WTAW news time is four minutes after eight.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
It's seventy one degrees.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
News is presented by Pioneers steal In Pipe, your one
stop steel supply store on Highway twenty one easton Brian

There's another new state law that reduces local authority. During
last week's Brazos County commission meeting, Commissioner and former state
representative Fred Brown shared what he thought about the locally
elected body not being allowed to approve contracts of up
(00:30):
to one hundred thousand dollars.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
It gives me pause. The entire thing, and that's this
is caused by the legislature.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
But when you talk about.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
One hundred thousand dollars, that's a lot of flexibility for
staff that doesn't have to come to us.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Commissioner Wanda Watson expressed her confidence in the county's purchasing
office just.
Speaker 5 (00:48):
Knowing how good our purchasing department is. There will be
some discussion with that. It won't just be blindly decisions
being made. We will have some idea what's coming forward.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
He's purchasing director gave a thumbs up to keeping commissioners
informed of purchases that staff will make instead of the
elected body. The idea of building a new multi purpose
of end center at Hensill Park has the interest of
Brazz's County Commissioner Chuck Conderla.
Speaker 6 (01:13):
The idea that something could come in like that three
sides of it boarding Brian one side facing College Station
with a beautiful entrance in on South College from both
directions in Hencil Park, which is right.
Speaker 7 (01:24):
I think he called it the hole in the donut.
What a perfect analogy.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Konderlessa that he doesn't want the local taxpayers to be
highly burdened by a project that has no price tag
at this time, appearances are coming for Texas A and
m's new interim president. No dates were given by the
A and M system's chancellor in a message of when
Tommy Williams will hold a listening tour to meet faculty,
staff and students. Williams also plans to meet with key
faculty staff, student college division, and affiliate leadership teams. Some
(01:52):
of the critics of the now dead proposal for the
College Station City Council to sell land for a data center.
We're also not happy when council members were not able
to say anything due to non disclosure agreements. One of
the agenda items for this Thursday's council meeting is how
to handle future NDAs.
Speaker 8 (02:07):
Person that comes to you is really interested in a
big deal with you, a real estate deal typically, but
they don't want to have the public know all the
details of how they operate, what they do.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
And all of that.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Mayor John Nichols said an NDA was required to consider
the idea for that data center.
Speaker 8 (02:26):
If you want to listen to the very first sentence,
you've got to agree to an NDA. We don't always
have to do that, but in this case, very technical,
very big deal. So yes, we did agree to NDA.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
With the data center, Nichols said. The city manager asked
and the council agreed that there would be a non
disclosure agreement. A correction to the story about the proposed
funding of expanding Wes Bryan's Lakewalk district. The proposal to
be considered at today's Brian City Council meeting to spend
three point eight million dollars does not include paying for
a two hundred space parking garage that has planned to
(02:58):
be built.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
The money will only go.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Towards the infrastructure for the future construction of an office
building and restaurant space. WTAW news time is seven minutes
after eight. It's seventy one degrees. News is presented by
Pioneers Stealing Pipe. More news at eight thirty or online

Speaker 7 (03:21):
The Infloyadi Acts. It's a Tuesday. Let's have a look
at our weather. It's brought to you by United Roofing
and sheet Metal, home of the Dura Last roof system,
world's best roof can we'll call it two six eight
roof Goode ninerofingpros dot com. Up into the nineties today
not too hot like ninety two ninety three something like that.
Down into the upper seventies for our low temperatures. And
it's gonna be pretty nice out there. So we haven't
(03:44):
even talked about it today. It's weird to think that
Amazon remember that. Yeah, it's they started off primarily as
an online bookstore before it became the platform where they've
got everything right. I mean, where else you want to
buy a garden shed or drones or ritz crackers, or
go carts or whatever anyway you think of it. You know,
(04:06):
but while Amazon is holy one of its prime days,
which is today and tomorrow, bookshop dot org is offering
free shipping. Oh okay, After Barnes and Noble pretty well
hollowed out much of the independent bookstore landscape in the US,
Amazon just about finished it off. But you know, now
the independents are kind of making a little bit of
(04:28):
a play to get back into it. Bookshop dot org
was founded in twenty twenty so people could shop conveniently
online to receive their books from the very same independent
bookstores who had been threatened by these big guys, and
bookshop dot org is kind of a neat deal. Back
in January, they launched the ability for people to buy
(04:50):
ebooks directly from independent bookstores through their platform, which is
kind of fun. It was a way for people to
funnel some of those badly needed dollar back into the
independent bookstore industry rather than going to the big guys.
There's a donation center at bookshop dot org's home page
that proudly displays that at least as of today, forty
(05:13):
one point four million dollars has been raised by local bookstores,
not bad first sight. It was Yeah, that just came
from five years ago, so remember that. I mean, it's
out there, and it's available to buy books. There are
a lot of different places to do it, and Amazon
sometimes is not the cheapest. I want to say, Gosh,
Jackie buye is almost eighty percent of her book someplace else.
(05:35):
Really use bookstores and things like that, and used, and
you don't get it as quickly understand the work. Sure,
sometimes it takes a while and.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Uh yeah, and if you go somewhere like half price,
you kind of got to dig a little bit sometimes.
But and you know, if you you know, I don't
know if you care about the condition that your book
is in. Obviously they are used, so they may be
a little you know, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
I loved a little loved comfortable, Comfortable.
Speaker 7 (05:58):
I've got some of the pages of light Brown. I mean,
that's okay, the words you're still on there.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
But nonetheless, now, sometimes you buy a book, and especially
if it's a new book, it has that really really
good like new book smell. But you know, if maybe
you're more into the smell of garlic, let's say there's a.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Book out there for you.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Okay, okay, so I talk about a collaboration. Hellman's Mayo
has collaborated with an author of a new book that's
coming out, and I'll be honest, I hadn't heard of this.
So her name is Jennifer Armantrout and she has a
series called Blood and Ash and the sixth the sixth
book is coming out called The Primal of Blood and Bone.
(06:43):
It's fantasy and romance. So it actually sounds right up
my alley. I just hadn't heard of this one yet.
But they are collaborating to come out with a special
edition of the sixth book, The Primal of Blood and Bone,
and it will smell like garlic.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
I want to know who dreamed this.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
So I'm guessing there are vampires that are in this
book or something of the sort. It will smell like
Hellman's Garlic Aoli mayo.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Okay, Yeah, So apparently in the Blood and Ash series,
Garlic keeps the Craven, a vampire like flesh eating creature
at bay. So the ink will be garlic scented and
craven proof.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
That is what they're saying.
Speaker 9 (07:27):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Now, this particular author of the article says, I can
only imagine if you're reading in public, the smell will
keep regular people at bay as well. Garlic mayonnaise is
appetizing to smell when you're downing a basket of fries,
but it's a little distressing scent to come across, like
say you're reading your book in the doctor's office waiting
room or maybe writing the subway. So who knows, like
(07:49):
how strong the scent will actually be. I can't imagine.
It's a big book. It's not like you're gonna read
this quickly.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
The marketing gimmick leans heavily into the notion that this
is for book talk, which is TikTok's subcommunity responsible for
the recent sales surges in the publishing industry. We'll see
how many they actually put out, or maybe it's a giveaway,
but I just thought that was really.
Speaker 7 (08:13):
Imagine the printer. Yeah right, okay, let's let's wheel in
this ink here that smells like garlic and you're gonna
have to work in those now.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
It does say for those interested, if you find yourself
near it's called Miss Willa Bookshop. It's in Charlestown, West Virginia.
You will also get a free bottle of the mayonnaise.
Along with your book purchase.
Speaker 7 (08:32):
Oh okay, now that's better. Yeah yeah, going on?
Speaker 10 (08:35):
Do you think they had to put a warning label
on the book that says don't eat this?
Speaker 11 (08:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (08:39):
Really?
Speaker 12 (08:41):
So?
Speaker 7 (08:42):
What are the most searched breakfast foods? Most searched breakfast Foodkay,
we're not talking consumed, Okay, searched. Dive into the data
found the answer. They put together a list of one
hundred and fifty seven of the world's most popular breakfast foods,
and data analysts use Google keyword Planner to show each
(09:04):
item's monthly search volume over all fifty US states and
countries around the world. In the US, the most searched
food in the most states over the last twelve months
was the Asai bowl. Oh okay, wow, I've never had one.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Which is I'm sure a lot of people and that's
why they're searching for it. It's basically just a healthy
ice cream bowl. I mean it's not ice cream, it's yogurt.
So it's a Brazilian I didn't realize it was a Brazilian.
A Brazilian dessert or snack made from puaid frozen osiy
fruit blended with ingredients like frozen bananas and berries. And
(09:46):
then typically there's like granola and different toppings and things
like that on top.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Yeah, daughter, those so like it's like a smoothie bowl.
Speaker 7 (09:54):
Okay, all right, so that's number one only searched again, right,
Second is psa, which is a Central American dish. Oh yeah,
and it's it's kind of it's a as they call it,
a stuffed grittle fried disk made of corn masa arena.
Speaker 10 (10:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
I've had one of these.
Speaker 7 (10:12):
Yeah, and that that sounds tasty, yes, but again not
the most popular. And just remember that the other Uh so,
I don't have the list right in front of you,
but I think number five was croissants, and so there
was finally something that I can actually picture. Well again,
there you go.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
And yeah, I mean so if you see this word papoosa,
you're like, wait, what is that?
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Let me go search it. I say, you bowl.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
We hear about them, but you're like, what is it exactly?
And so it actually makes sense to me that these
are the most searched food. Yeah, the people are curious
about them.
Speaker 7 (10:40):
And just talking to various people about the last trip
we took, several people asked what was the food like
that they had there, and generally they tried to prepare
food that Americans know. Okay, but they did have and
uh in one of the places, they did have a
traditional food and the waitress had to come and show
me how to eat it.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Oh interesting, what was it?
Speaker 7 (11:02):
Well, it was a glove of polenta, basically they called
it something different, sure, but and also a meat, kind
of a stewy type meat in a gravy. And what
you're supposed to do is pick up this polenta with
your fingers and wipe it in the meat and gravy
and then eat it that way. And of course they
(11:25):
traditionally explained that you would only eat with your hand, yes,
your right hand, right hand, your right hand, because you know,
there are plarts of the world where other things are
done with their left hand, if you get my yes.
But that was the only one that was a truly
native I mean, there was a lot of fruit, a
lot of fresh fruit and that sort of thing, but
(11:45):
that was the only native thing that I thought we had.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
And again, besides the crocodile, right, and you know, we haven't.
Speaker 7 (11:52):
Talked about that, have we really. I sent you a
picture of it, yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Yeah, and you showed me the picture.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Yeah, you sent the picture of the menu, and then
and you said that you did try it. Ye, you know,
it was a skewer and it had crockedbile, and we
all talked about it on the show. We had all
tried alligator before, but I don't know that any of
us had had crocodile.
Speaker 7 (12:11):
And they had the skewer. Comes that it's hanging. I mean,
it's so the presentation was great, here it is and
you just pull it off the bottom of the skewer.
I likened it more to pork. I'd like it to
be more dense than chicken, because they'll say it tastes
like chicken. I thought it was very dense, but it
really didn't have any flavor and didn't have any gaminess
from that standpoint. So I don't know if that's really
(12:32):
any different. I guess. I don't know that I've ever
had gator though, so I don't.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Well, yeah, let me tell you. I may have gotten
a little inside knowledge that there will be some gators
on some roasting spit set a tailgate this coming weekend.
Speaker 7 (12:48):
Oh that's kind of fun.
Speaker 9 (12:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
So anyone who was out at Aggie Park last year
for the Texas game and saw the steer that was
being roasted over and open fire.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
Believe they are going to do a couple of gators
for the upcoming game.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
I think that is else.
Speaker 7 (13:04):
Yeah, yeah, that's very very.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
So it'll it'll.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
I don't know if anything will actually be eaten or
if it's more of just a visual type.
Speaker 7 (13:12):
Fish on this uh this Tuesday. So I went to
Wirecutter yesterday because they'd had a kind of a preview
of the Prime Days. Yeah, but you know, Walmart's got
something going on. Target's got something going on, so and
I don't. So, Chelsea, have you looked at anything today?
Speaker 2 (13:29):
No, And again I'm not. I'm technically not a Prime member.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
My mom is and so and there's just nothing I
really need right now. So no, I'm not. I'm not
tempted by this. My my friend Kendall, she gets anxiety
every time because she's like, I need to save money,
I need to buy things, but I don't know what
to get, and so like Prime Days end up freaking
her out more than anything. But yeah, so no, I
(13:53):
haven't looked all right, how about you?
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Well, now I have not checked.
Speaker 10 (13:56):
I've seen some things pop up, electronics and things like that,
but it's nothing I'm in the market for.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Right And that's what we always talk about.
Speaker 7 (14:01):
It.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
If you if you really need something right now, like
you need new headphones, or you need new a TV
or whatever, I don't know, then then you wait and
you see if something like that really, you know, speaks
to you. But if you're just like going in there
looking for something to buy, you'll find all.
Speaker 7 (14:17):
Yeah, you just have to say, I've got to get
that new appliance, that new access processor. So speaking of new,
you got your phone?
Speaker 2 (14:26):
I did, yes, Yes, What.
Speaker 7 (14:27):
Was it that finally made you decide?
Speaker 11 (14:29):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (14:29):
Well, so so this is the seventeen. I was on
a thirteen, so.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
It had been a while my phone was completely paid off,
which means I was eligible to just trade in my phone.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
Yeah, And so obviously you still have to you know,
pay I think the sales taxes, so it still cost
me some money, but it was you know, it was time.
I also one of my camera lenses was cracked, and
so my my picture taking abilities was already a little
like blurry with my old phone, and so.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Yeah, so it was time.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Went ahead and went to the AT and T store
because that's who we use. About a week or so ago,
lovely experience. The girl who helped me, I mean her
name was Chelsea, so of course she was perfect stellar,
but no, she was very helpful, walked through everything with me.
Luckily they had the phone I wanted in stock because
I was a little.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Nervous about that.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
There are three different colors and I didn't want two
of them, so I was really hoping that the one
I wanted they had with the proper storage and everything.
So yeah, it worked out great. And again I sent
you guys that picture of the moon this morning, which
is pretty cool. But everything has been has been great
so far.
Speaker 7 (15:38):
So are there any other features?
Speaker 12 (15:40):
Did you?
Speaker 7 (15:41):
Because I don't ever go I still don't haven't looked
at what my phone can do, right.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Yeah, you know, I have read a couple articles because
I'm like, all right, if you're gonna have the newest,
you know, model, you might as well. I mean, Apple
even sends you like an email it's still sitting in
my inbox welcome to your new iPhone. And so I've
been meaning to go through that just to kind of see.
I had already done the software update, so the actual
look of the screen and the apps, like I was
(16:08):
already used to that even on the old phone. So
nothing has been totally different or I've had to you know,
get used to I guess. But I'm sure there are
some things, especially when it comes to the camera system,
that I need to kind of play with. Just so
I am using everything that has been provided to me.
Speaker 7 (16:25):
I want to say, when they got to the fifteen,
they really started to focus on the camera. Yeah, let
us tell you about this camera on the phone.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
Yeah, and this one yeah, this one it has like
the it has.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
A totally new button for the camera so you can
get to it immediately, and it even you know, you
can like press it and zoom with just like a
touch of your finger instead of touching the screen. It
almost turns your phone more into how you would hold
like an old school camera.
Speaker 7 (16:54):
Now that's smart.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Yeah, So like if you.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Hold it horizontally where the button is, you know, in
an old school camera, where you would press the button
to take the picture.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
That's what you're doing with your phone now.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Versus like having to actually just press an imaginary button
on your screen somewhere.
Speaker 7 (17:12):
Well, and the other thing is like on my phone
and it's the way it's set up. I have to
go find camera hit camera, then my camera opens up.
Speaker 8 (17:20):
Right.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
This gives you that automatic shortcut to it right away.
Speaker 7 (17:23):
I have to believe I have no idea what the
new pixels look like, but I have to believe that's
where they'll go too. Everybody has to go to that
point because ninety percent of the time that's what people
are gonna do. Yeah, I mean, certainly in a leisurely situation,
they're going to want to take a picture. They don't
want to miss it. Does it allow you to take
multiple pictures?
Speaker 8 (17:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Yeah, I mean you can you know, rapid fire things
like that.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Yeah, there's a lot I think Again, I really need
to keep playing with the camera because I think it
has a lot of capabilities that I just don't know
about yet.
Speaker 9 (17:52):
But no, it's been good.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Obviously. The battery life is the best it's ever going
to be. Right away.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
I did have to buy new chargers because I forgot
the thirteen was still using the old iPhone charger and
so they've updated all of the iPhone stuff now to
the what USB C one Yeah okay, and so which
I had it comes with a charger, but I still
needed other ones and I had my my iPad charger,
(18:20):
so I did have that one as well, because that's
the same. But I was it's nice just to have
a few extras floating around. And then I gathered up
all my old ones and I just gave them. I
actually just gave them to my mom last night. I
was like, I don't know if y'all want extra chargers,
but I now do not have a device that needs these.
Speaker 10 (18:36):
That messed me up because I'm being an Android guy.
Nobody ever wanted to use like my charger in the
car when we're on a trip, but.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
Now they do. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Actually, I still need to get a car charger. That's
the one thing I haven't gotten yet.
Speaker 7 (18:49):
The wireless chargers the best money I've spent. Oh okay,
because Jackie can chant. She's got an iPhone. She can
charge hers on me. It's just a little cradle that
it sits in and you can charge, right see.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
I think with my case, the kind of case I have,
like that doesn't work for me.
Speaker 7 (19:04):
Gotcha up?
Speaker 11 (19:05):
All right?
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Yeah, I know it's been great.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
WTAW news time is eight thirty three. It's seventy four degrees.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Good morning. I'm Chelsea Reeberg.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Last week, Grass's County Commissioners approved changes in purchasing office
policies to conform with a new state law that says
staff approves contracts up to one hundred thousand dollars. Commissioner
Wanda Watson says the purchasing office won't blindly be making
decisions without informing the elected body.
Speaker 5 (19:30):
I expect that because of the character and the ethics
of that individual that oversees that department.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
Commissioner Fred Brown, a former state lawmaker who was critical
of this year's legislative session, directed a comment at the
county County's purchasing director, and.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
Charles knows I'll be watching him like white on rise.
Speaker 6 (19:45):
So just get ready to Charles, we do have a
thumbs up from the back we've.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
Had continued we've had, but because there's been continuous oversight,
this won't be made in a vacuum.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Staff approval of contracts of up to one hundred thousand
and dollars will reduce the number of agenda items at
commission meetings, which are now every other week, which will
give employees more time on other projects. The idea of
a new multipurpose of end center at Hensil Park was
one of the topics discussed during County Commissioner Chuck Conderla's
recent visit on our show.
Speaker 6 (20:15):
I'm very excited to hear more about it and see
that on Unravel the Facts, Information Feasibility.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
Conderla said he doesn't want the local taxpayers to be
highly burdened by.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
A project that has no price tag at this time.
Speaker 6 (20:27):
But you do have hot tax and a lot of
it here. So the idea that the county and the
two cities and A and M might come together on this,
to me, that's efficiencies that I'm always happy to see
in a project that I'm excited to learn more about.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Conderla's comments followed a presentation to the College Station City
Council calling for participation from Brian, Texas, A and M
and Brasses County. A correction to the story about the
proposed funding of expanding West Bryan's Lakewalk district. The Bryan
City Council, acting as the city's Commerce and Development Board,
is scheduled today to move ahead on nearly five million
dollars of required infrastructure for an all building and restaurant space.
(21:01):
A correction to an earlier version of this story is
that this money will not go towards building a two
hundred space parking garage that will be part of the
expansion near the Stella Hotel. There is one fewer item
on the agenda for this Thursday's College Station City Council meeting.
A rezoning proposal for a new residential subdivision containing eight
hundred homes has been tabled. The location of the development
(21:23):
is near the city's new fire station at Greens Prairie
Road in ws Phillips Parkway. A city spokesman says the
developer plans on additional meetings with existing homeowners to address
undisclosed concerns. The acreage is generally bordered by Greens Prairie
to the north, windhom Ranch Road to the east, and near.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Sweetwater Drive to the west.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
The proposal calls for the current rural zoning designation to
go to general suburban. There is still discussion about the
decision made by the College Station City Council two weeks
ago to not sell land to build a data center.
Speaking on our show, Mayor John Nichols said the city
manager asked and the council agreed that there would be
a non disclosure agreement kept the initial negotiations private. That
(22:02):
has led to the council to put on this Thursday's
agenda meeting a workshop item about how to handle future
NDA requests, where.
Speaker 8 (22:10):
I think the conversation will go. You have an NDA
that says, you know, we're going to go public with
this at some point, and you need to be ready
for that, but we aren't going to do it until
we get to such and such a stage.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Nichol says.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
The city not only receives NDAs, but the city issues
them as well.
Speaker 8 (22:25):
You'll find eighty percent of those our service providers in
our right ways that we have asked for an NDA
that they have to sign. From a public safety point
of really, you don't want everybody in the world to
know where your water lines are and where your carrier
all your power line from the security state away.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
This Thursday staff presentation to the Council is designed to
clarify the current processes in place with NDAs and to
facilitate a broader discussion. A San Antonio area man is

Speaker 8 (27:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (27:47):
Well, we just appreciate the attention that an M pays

with a thousand and one Dreams where we invite the
fairy Court of Avalon to join us, and it's just
a magical time where everybody can just live out their dreams.
Speaker 9 (29:14):
And dress out as whoever you want in your favorite characters.
We follow that up with Halloween.
Speaker 11 (29:21):
Everyone loves dressing up for our All Hallows Eve celebration
and this year it falls a little before Halloween, so
it'd be a great place for you to try out
your Halloween costume and come and join us at the fair.
Speaker 9 (29:32):
We follow that with Pirate Advantage.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
All Pirate's always a big weekend, y are.
Speaker 11 (29:36):
Yeah, everybody loves to put the yard on, put on
a try cord and have a great time. We follow
that with Heroes and Villains. Oh you can dress is
your favorite hero in villain. We like going to Comic
Palooza every year and every year we meet all these
heroes and villains and they're.
Speaker 9 (29:52):
Like we're coming. We're like, well, that's wonderful, thank you.
We follow that with a varied invasion and then a
Highland flame.
Speaker 11 (30:00):
We celebrate everything Scottish and butcher the brogue as best
as we can and put on our kilts and show
off our bonnie knees to all our lasses.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
So what is new this week or not this week?
But this season rather we have a brand new act.
Speaker 9 (30:15):
It's called Comic Stunt Juggler.
Speaker 10 (30:19):
Comic Stunt Juggler, Yeah, very specific, Yeah, I think it
probably accurately explains exactly what the act is about.
Speaker 9 (30:25):
So he was very fever about it. He'll be performing
on our Falconer's Heath stage.
Speaker 11 (30:31):
And of course we have all our own favorites going
to be out there, the Clan Tek, the Theater, Fool
Sound and Fury our Sin the Clown.
Speaker 9 (30:39):
We'll have Tartanic out there this year. The Carnival of
Sound is going to be singing and playing and with
the child.
Speaker 10 (30:47):
There's so much to do, so much to do. Let's
talk a little bit about food though. That's one of
the greatest attractions out there is of course the meals
that the King loves.
Speaker 9 (30:55):
That's right.
Speaker 11 (30:56):
Of course, one of my favorites being turkey legs. But
we have food of all variety for all tastes and
any discriminating taste, whether it's vegan or gluten free. We
offer foods for anybody. We have foods from all over
the world.
Speaker 9 (31:11):
Find vittles from Scotland, Poland, Germany, England, France, the orients.
Speaker 11 (31:18):
There's just so many different types of food, savory and sweet.
Speaker 9 (31:22):
And of course it's a King's Feast.
Speaker 11 (31:24):
Yes, that's two hours of all the vittles and libations
that you can enjoy while we provide the entertainment.
Speaker 9 (31:32):
We bring it all to you. In fact, the Queen
and I visit the kings Feast very nice time.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
You mentioned the libation is always a nice selection of refreshing.
Speaker 11 (31:40):
Indeed, and we also this year we have lots of
immersive tastings, so if you want to taste different libations
and find out where they're from, find out how they're made,
whether it's a meat or a wine or a coffee.
Speaker 9 (31:54):
We even have a high tea at three o'clock.
Speaker 4 (31:57):
Queen and strumpets come nice. It is nice.
Speaker 10 (32:00):
We love going there, so quick question for you, how
many times just say per day do you say or
do you hear the phrase it's good to be the king?
Speaker 9 (32:11):
Strangely enough. I hear it a lot more from other
folks than I knew from myself. I try to be
a bit more modest, but indeed they always.
Speaker 11 (32:19):
Come up to me and they said, well, it's good
to be king, and I'm like, well it doesn't suck.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
Thank you so much for stopping by today.
Speaker 7 (32:28):
Well, it's my pleasure.
Speaker 11 (32:30):
I want to let everybody, you know, go texture infest
dot com. Get your tickets. You can make camping reservations.
And I forgot to mention three day weekend right after
Thanksgiving Friday, Saturday and Sunday Celtic Christmas.
Speaker 9 (32:42):
Decorate the entire village for Christmas and the holidays. A
great place to start off.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
Sounds wonderful. Thank you so much for stopping by, Your Highness.
Speaker 9 (32:49):
You're welcome.
Speaker 7 (32:50):
Huzzah, Hey, good morning for many acts. Let's call our winter.
Speaker 4 (32:54):
What do you think? Oh yeah, just try to do that,
have some fun.
Speaker 7 (32:57):
I was just talking to mister Brewer.
Speaker 4 (32:59):
He stayed over.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Yeah, he just came to my window. He always comes
to say goodbye. It's been a little while.
Speaker 10 (33:04):
Listener texted and concerned about his mental health after he
said the Cowboys were back.
Speaker 7 (33:08):
Yeah, I know, well that's you know what are you
gonna say? That's what I understand they are. He said,
they're good against the teams they're supposed to beat. I said, oh,
kind of like the Longhorns. Yeah yeah, okay, all right, Okay,
gonna see if I can dial this and talk at
the same time today. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't.
We'll just see. So we're asking what's your perfect taco.
(33:28):
We had a lot of choices today. I mean, there
are so many different things you can do.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
I'm gonna have something as soon as I get home.
Speaker 7 (33:35):
Okay, talk about it makes you hungry, bump, but it
is kind of Hey, Amy, it's Scott and Chelsea and
we'll it's seeing from any acts you are a winner today.
Congratulate again.
Speaker 11 (33:48):
Yay guys.
Speaker 7 (33:50):
As we talk, we talked tacos. Tell me, tell me
about your taco world.
Speaker 11 (33:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (33:55):
So, when I was younger, I always used to go
to JP Talker and cald Well and he makes the
best breakfast breakfast tacos, and I don't think he's there anymore,
but I would always get the egg, potato, bacon, cheese
and sour cream. Fload it down with like the hottest
hot sauce. Oh yeah, it's the greatest.
Speaker 7 (34:14):
Now, would you eat it in the car, eat it
in the restaurant, the parking lot, or did you actually
go to a place and sit down like a regular
human being and eat it properly.
Speaker 12 (34:24):
No, I'm not a regular human being ever. No, it's
always in the car on the go. I'm always late
for something somewhere.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
So Amy, Amy, you were not alone. You were not
the only person to text in about JP's and Gray. Yeah,
and they are out of business now, which is sad
because apparently, yeah, they were.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
They were incredible. Somebody says, our town has never been
the same.
Speaker 12 (34:45):
Oh, oh, I agree. JB Taco was. Oh, it was
so amazing. And they made more than just just the
breakfast tacos. They made lunch tacos. And they were always
busy in the morning. It was this hole in the wall, Yeah,
broken down gas station and called well was great.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
Those are the best man.
Speaker 7 (35:01):
Now, now we're all hungry for that. Thanks a lot
for that, Amy. All right, listen, we got tickets for
you for the Texas Renaissance Festival, which opens up this weekend.
By the way, if you want to go do that stuff.
And then also we've got brasses Valley Fair and Rodeo
tickets for you as well. While you had do is,
come by the top of the Garanty Bank building.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
We'll have them for you.
Speaker 12 (35:17):
Okay, awesome, Thank you guys so much.
Speaker 7 (35:20):
All right, thanks Amy every morning.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
I appreciate Thank you, Amy.
Speaker 7 (35:23):
I see you later.
Speaker 4 (35:24):
Bye.
Speaker 7 (35:24):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
That place in Callward, Well, it's funny because when she
when she said it, I said, wait a minute, I
read that somewhere. Did she send into text messages because
I saw, you know, because sometimes we'll get you know,
multiple just about different things. But yeah, somebody separate texted
in and said the best tacos ever were in Caldwell at.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
JP's Taka JP JP JP. Yeah. Man, I don't know
if you're listening, but people want your tacos back.
Speaker 7 (35:47):
Maybe do a food truck something like that.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Yeah, there we go.
Speaker 7 (35:50):
That would be kind of fun. Yeah huh well all.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
Right, okay, so what about us? What are are What
are y'all's favorite tacos?
Speaker 10 (35:56):
My favorite taco every just about every single morning, I
eat a terrerizo egg and cheese breakfast talk oh wow, okay,
and I usually make those at the house and this
morning I will be trying out a brand new choriso.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
It's locally made.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Oh, I'll be into that the report back.
Speaker 10 (36:10):
I wish there is a There is a taco trailer
next to an old convenience store surrounded by trailer parks.
That is now my favorite Mexican food in town. And
they make a great taco. I'm not going to tell
anybody where it is. Find it for your own.
Speaker 7 (36:25):
I don't do the food truck thing very much, and
I don't eat the tacos a lot, but it's hard
to be fuego for me.
Speaker 4 (36:31):
It is so good.
Speaker 7 (36:32):
They do so many different unusual combinations.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
Yeah, they're a little bit they're they're a little full,
like sometimes there's so much going on, like you definitely
that's a sit down with a like a plate and.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
Silverware almost like a knife and fortunate.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
Yeah, they're pretty aggressive, but they are really really tasty,
and they have a lot.
Speaker 7 (36:50):
Of stuff over there that you can add yourself, so
you can get that part made the way you want to.
But yeah, they've done some very unusual things and I
want to huh. And you know, from that standpoint, I
hate that Mad Taco went away in its original iteration
because it was such unusual combination. Yeah, and that's that's
(37:10):
kind of fun and different. I know that they are
because because you can do I guess, almost anything if
you want to with as long as you've got a
tortilla and you can just stick it in there. Sure,
So go celebrate your taco stuff today. There are lots
of places where they've got specials going on. Just go
find your fave. And but two minutes till uh the informatix.
(37:31):
Do you know a PGA golfer named Vince Whaley.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
I do not know Vince.
Speaker 2 (37:35):
I don't know his name, the name doesn't.
Speaker 7 (37:37):
Executed a water shot at the Sanderson Farms Championship on
Sunday while like gator was observing from just a few feels.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
I did see this picture, Okay.
Speaker 7 (37:49):
It was the Jackson, Mississippi is where they had the tournament.
Whaley's ball landed in the water the eleventh hole, forcing
him to play from the shallow the shallow area. The
gator remained in deeper water nearby as he took his shot.
Golf Channel commentator Johnson Wagner noted the tense moments, saying,
(38:09):
my heart rate is elevated just watching this. During the
broadcast footage, despite the unusual circumstances, he successfully made the
par on that hole and finished the PGA tournament time
for thirty.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
I'm watching the video right now.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Oh my god, there is You could not pay me
enough money to get ankle deep in water with an
alligator right there.
Speaker 4 (38:29):
I'm sure somebody was spotting for him.
Speaker 7 (38:30):
Well, but they moved faster than you think if the
gator wanted to.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
I mean, I guess he had a golf club in
his hand, so technically had a weapon.
Speaker 12 (38:39):
But oh my.
Speaker 7 (38:40):
Goodness, that's taking one for the team. Wow, taking one
for the team. So there you are for the team.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
It's a hint. You're playing alone.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
You talk about a water hazard.
Speaker 7 (38:52):
Yeah, yeah, that's the definition.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
I mean he saw him like he was keeping an
eye on him, but he still had to turn his
back to the alligator.
Speaker 7 (39:00):
Oh that's playing like a champion right there. Well, now
we know who Vince is, don't we.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
Yeah, that's true. That's true.
Speaker 7 (39:07):
So market calendar. Donald Trump has announced the UFC event
