Kristin lives in Healy, Alaska with her husband, daughter, and a whole lotta dogs. Kristin and her husband, Andy, own "Hey Moose" kennel and she's a dog musher who has completed the Yukon Quest and the Iditarod. Kristin is also a writer and recently published a beautiful memoir entitled "This Much Country."
Kristin grew up in Ft. Worth, TX but as soon as she graduated from high school she hit the road headed north to Montana. In this episode, Kristin talks about why she left Texas, the life lessons she learned in Montana, and how she ended up in Alaska.
She gives us the rich history of dog mushing in Alaska and discusses how she fell in love with the dogs and the sport of mushing. She opens up about her time on the frozen trail with her dogs during the 900 mile Yukon Quest and the Iditarod and how both races brought completely different feelings after she crossed the finish line.
Shortly after completing the Iditarod in 2016, she became a mom. Kristin opens up about motherhood, how it shifts your priorities, expands your heart, and everything that comes with it including the hard stuff!

Kristin has experienced more at age 35 than most folks will experience in their entire lifetime, it's enough to fill a book. And so she did write a book....a beautiful memoir! Kim & Kristin chat about the writing process and all the stars that aligned to make it all come together. Kim also shares some of her favorite parts of the book and.........Kristin reads for us!
