using the psychology of truecoaching.
(00:20):
On this show, we're going toexplore business from a
different perspective.
I combine high energy withpsychology to teach you business
in a totally different way.
If you're tired of being toldto just show up and do the work,
or just believe more or justtrust the compound effect, this
podcast will take you on a deepdive to help you understand what

(01:06):
Welcome back to your Push Coach.
My name is Josh, I'm your PushCoach.
Happy holidays, as I'mrecording this live Week of
Thanksgiving here in the Statesand just have a short message
for you today.
I was at the gym today and sawsomeone working with my friend
who is the owner, who is also atrainer and someone who was, you
(01:31):
know, probably a guy in hislate 20s, early 30s, looking
like he was literally.
I'm almost positive it was hisfirst training session, because
I'd never seen him there beforeand he wasn't in great shape yet
.
And I just got to thinking tomyself like I'm so proud of this
dude for being here.
I'm so proud of him because thething about the gym is for
people that are already in shape, that have been working out for
years, you know, it's not hardto go to the gym.
(01:54):
For me, it's like hard not togo to the gym at this point,
like I'm, I feel I feel like Idon't know what day it is or
what the hell to do with my lifeif I don't start my day off at
the gym.
But that's because I've been ina routine of it for 13 years of
working out every single day,and even working out every
single day for 13 years.
(02:16):
Sometimes I'm intimidated at thegym by people who are in better
shape than me.
People are bigger and strongerand lifting heavier weights, and
so I was just sitting therethinking here's a dude who and I
don't mean this in any type ofjudgmental or shameful way, but
definitely doesn't look like heworks out regularly here at the
gym, having his very firsttraining session.
(02:36):
I think he was using like 10 or15 pound dumbbells to do bench
press, which is not very muchweight for a dude that looked
about six foot tall and I don'tknow weighs probably 230, 240,
if I had to guess.
And I'm sitting here going.
I am so proud of this dude forshowing up at the gym today,
(02:58):
having to be surrounded by abunch of people who do this
every single day, are liftingmore weight, you know currently
have better physique and here heis getting started and I just
felt so freaking proud of himand I kind of just started to
think.
You know, like when you'regetting started, it's always
like so intimidated to besurrounded by a bunch of people
(03:21):
who have already been doing thisthat are in their norm.
You know, especially at the gym, where it's like what do all
these machines even do?
Like it can be kind ofintimidating.
Even when I went from justworking out at home to working
out at the gym, it was reallyintimidating and I got to
thinking about this.
You know, so many times.
I think people have a ton ofrespect and admiration for the
(03:43):
person who's been doing it for13 years, every single day, and
is in incredible shape and, likethe way I see it, is like we
need to flip our perspective, because the reality is, 13 years
in is not the thing to beimpressed by.
The thing to be impressed by isthe person who finally made a
decision to get started andstick with it.
(04:05):
And when I think about mybusiness, I am way less proud of
Josh Coates in 2024 than I amof Josh Coates in 2014.
Because the reality is 2014 wasthe year that I was starting a
business.
I knew nothing about theculture of business.
(04:25):
I knew nothing about howanything worked.
I didn't know any of theterminology and I was just
throwing myself out there.
Man, I was just like a new kidshowing up at the gym, like I
don't even know what the fuck todo here.
I just know I need to getstarted.
And when I look back, 2014 wassuch a hard year to just deal
with all of the change, all ofthe new things, not
(04:48):
understanding anything.
Nothing is working for me,nothing.
There was really no outwardaffirmation.
You know what I'm saying, like, obviously, when you're making
sales, when you're makingprogress, or at the gym, when
you're losing weight or gainingmuscle, when there's something
outward to point to, it doesmake it easier to keep showing
up.
But for my whole first yearthere was really no outward
(05:10):
affirmation that anything wasworking.
There was no outwardaffirmation, there was no
outward sign that anything wasgoing in the right direction,
and I just had to show upanyways and trust that it
eventually would.
And so here's what I want to sayto you today If you are the
person that's either justgetting started or maybe is
(05:31):
still trying to find your groove, like maybe you've been doing
it for a while but like youhaven't like actually stayed
consistent or stuck to the thingand you've kind of been like up
and down, one step forward, twosteps back, kind of a situation
.
I want to remind you of thisTake more pride in getting
started than being at the top ofthe mountain, because you can't
(05:54):
get to the top of the mountainwithout actually finally
sticking to something longenough to get there, and I
really, really, really reallywant you to just honor yourself
for where you're currently at.
I want you to honor the journeythat you've already embarked on
.
I want you to honor the journeythat you've embraced, the
(06:15):
growth, the steps, everythingyou've done to get outside of
your comfort zone and, insteadof being focused on trying to
get to the top of the mountainand be the person that looks the
part and fits in, and all ofthat.
Be proud of yourself forshowing up even when you don't
have that.
Be more proud of yourself forshowing up even when you don't
(06:37):
have that yet, because that'sthe only way to eventually get
there.
And I just think, too manytimes, comparison just robs us,
just robs us of everyopportunity to be thankful and
grateful for what we've alreadydone.
So I just want to encourage youtoday and challenge you that
2014 Josh is a way bigger dealthan 2024 Josh, because 2014
(07:01):
Josh was the person who showedup and pushed through and made
this happen, even when nothingwas really happening, and that's
way harder.
So, wherever you are on yourjourney, today I just want to
say I'm so proud of you.
I love you so much, I believein you so much, I care about you
.
Please, please, please, don'tgive up.
(07:22):
If it means something to you,if it means something for your
future, for your family, foryour legacy keep showing up,
keep doing the thing, keeplearning, keep evaluating and
keep growing.
All right, I love you so much.
Happy holidays, hope you havesuch an amazing week.
Hope you have such a greatseason.
(07:42):
I'm just celebrating and beingwith family.
For those of you that are, maybe it's a harder time of the
year because recently someonehas passed away, or maybe you
know like this time of the yearis always hard because of maybe
not having family, or whateverthat is.
I want to send you my lovetoday.
I want to send you my lighttoday.
Just know that you are myfamily.
I.
