آکادمی آمبرلا داستان گروهی با قدرتهای عجیب و غریبه که همگی به طور غیرعادی به دنیا اومدن و به سبب تواناییهایی که دارند تحت سرپرستی شخصی به نام رجینالد هارگریوز درمیان. داستان Umbrella Academy بی‌شباهت به دیگر مجموعه کمیک‌هایی مثل X-Men و Doom Patrol نیست، اما وقتی کمیکش رو بخونید یا سریالش رو تماشا کنید متوجه می‌شید که این شباهت‌ها صرفاً ظاهری هستند و در داستان و اتفاقات تفاوت‌های قابل توجه زیادی رو می‌بینید.
