阿尔伯特·爱因斯坦
1932年2月，德国和平主义者奥西茨基被定为叛国罪，爱因斯坦在帕莎第纳提出抗议。
3月，爱因斯坦从美国回柏林。5月，爱因斯坦去英国剑桥大学和牛津大学讲学，后赶到瑞士日内瓦列席裁军会议，感到极端失望。7月，爱因斯坦与心理学家弗洛伊德通信，讨论战争的心理问题。号召德国人民起来保卫魏玛共和国，全力反对法西斯。12月10日，爱因斯坦和妻子离开德国去美国。原来打算访问美国，然而，他们从此再也没有踏上德国的领土。
1933年，德国纳粹政府查抄他在柏林的寓所，焚毁其书籍，没收其财产，并悬赏十万马克索取他的人头。他当时在美国新泽西州的普林斯顿高等研究院任职，之后便决定不返回德国，并于1940年加入美国国籍同时保留瑞士国籍。
