Speaker 1 (00:00):
Entertaining games of the entire MLS season. That was their
seventh consecutive win, a four to three road triumph over Toronto,
And so we had Kalum on right before that game
Callum Williams Apple TV MLS Season Pass, and boy, things
were going really well, and we were talking about FC
Cincinnati maybe being maybe not better than last year, but
at least as good and having the potential to win

(00:22):
the Supporter Shield. And over the last what's six seven weeks,
we have stopped talking about those things. They've got to
get back on track. They take on Montreal at home
on Saturday night. Kalam All will be on the call.
Those were fun times when we talked. I kind of
wish we were exploring some of the same themes. It's
good to have you, though, how are you?

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah? Good, Thanks for having me, And you're right, it
seems like a very very different time, doesn't it. It's
almost like Cincinnati season has been split into two separate campaigns.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
And speaking to Pat noon and.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Earlier on today, he was saying that it very much
feels as though it's been inconsistent over the course of
the last four or five six weeks, and I think
that's fair to say, so I view this again against Montreal, though, honestly,
as a major opportunity for FC Cincinnati. And I said
that with all due respect to see at Montreal. You
can't lose five nil at home. If you are Montreal,

(01:12):
I expect to go and find anything. It's f C Cincinnati,
regardless of their home form this season. So I'll be
very interested to see what the approach is from Montreal
over the course of the next few days.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yeah, I mean, look at we use the term get
right game right. Like FC Cincinnati came out against Miami.
I'm not sure they played terribly. They just didn't score
any goals. And you know that's that's an entirely different issue.
I think it's something else entirely though, if even if
they get three points, if we don't see a better showing,
just not just in terms of how they played against Miami,

(01:43):
but based on what we saw in League's Cup, based
on what we saw from FC Cincinnati before League's Cust
I'm as I'm as interested in how they look as
I am the actual result on whether they get three
points on Saturday night.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, absolutely, And I think every f C Cincinnati fan
has a right to feel that way as well, and
Pat now and again we.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Spoke to him earlier on today and he said that, look.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
We are fully aware of how important this game is,
especially with the international break over the course of the
next few days as well.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
It means that the MLS teams will have a.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Short break before they really get going in the final stretch.
But it also means that a lot of players will
be heading off for international duty with their respective countries
as well, so it will mean a little bit of
a break and maybe a break from a psychological point
of view as well. So Pat Moon and the players
and the staff know how importance a victory is against Montreal,
and quite frankly, it's a victory that should be expected.

(02:33):
And again I say that with autie respect. To see
if Montreal, who have had you know, an okay campaign.
It started off very well where they won their first
two road games and they haven't won a road game
since then, by the way, since match day three of
the MLS campaign. But they've irritated and frustrated many a
team on the road this year. I was fortunate enough

(02:54):
to commentate on their two to draw at Red Bull
New York several weeks ago, and they did just that,
curiated a very very good and comfortable Red Bull New
York team. But let's not forget the only team in
Major League Soccer. Let's let's eat to lose at home
as well. So Montreal are familiar with how to irritate
in this league. Montreal are familiar with how to.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Get results in this league.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
The head coach En Koretoire has them playing a way
that he likes to play, playing out of the back,
building up and building through the channels and through the lines,
which they've been successful in certain areas of the season
and doing so against certain opponents. But this is a
very different Montreal team to the team that beats Internati

(03:40):
several months ago. It's a team that, as we mentioned
and insinuated, have gone through a little bit of a
torrid spell from a form point of view. But also
they've had a very busy summer as well, and they
let go of a handful of players, including Matthew Chuanier
who transferred over to SC Zurick in the Swiss Super League,
their star player in club captain. But they've also in

(04:00):
the likes of Caden Clark from Minnesota United, who comes
with a hefty weight of expectation on his shoulders, and
that there's an abundance of players that have come in
that have been brought in to revitalize this Montreal team.
So I just wonder, you know, after the five no
home loss to New England Revolution, which was a shock
to just about everybody who covers Major League soccer across
the world, I'm interested to see what sort of approach

(04:23):
they have now against f C Cincinnati, because as we've
sort of insinuated already all the pressure, all the expectation
now quite rightly. Show will be on f C Cincinnati
on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Evening, FC Cincinnati hosting CF Montreal, Apple TV MLS season past.
Callum Williams, the call you had that match I mentioned before.
You were nice enough to come on with me right
before f C Cincinnati wins at Toronto. A great game,
a great game. The roster has evolved, that the shape
of the team has changed. The transfer window had something

(04:53):
to do with that. Obviously injuries have had something to
do with that. The makeup is different. The math right
now for FC cincinnat he is hard. If you're looking
at the top of the Eastern Conference and the race
for the supporter shield. But obviously there are the playoffs
and there's the benefit of time to get these pieces.
I think connected better and looking more like they did
when you called that match against Toronto, which was the

(05:15):
end of a seven game winning streak. So Pat Noonan
has got his hands full, but it feels to me
like he's got the right pieces just moving forward. Do
you like what they have, especially given what they did
and maybe to a degree didn't do during the transfer window.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Yeah, I mean, look, I was surprised with the signing
of Joe Keeney. I knew that Pat Noonan was in
the market for an attacking player. He told me how
such afterwards in the little corporate area at TQL Stadium. Afterwards,
my partner and I Kayle and Carr were fortunate enough
to commentate on the round of thirty two Leagus Cup
victory over Santos Laguna, and we spent some time with

(05:52):
Pat Noonan and the assistant coach, Dominic Kanaer afterwards, and
the insinuation was yet was still very much active and
looking for players. And so what they've done is I
think they've had complimentary pieces with the likes of Joe
Keni with the likes of teenager Adebi, who was announced
just the other day as a player for FC Cincinnati.
But look, I think the core group has already set

(06:13):
and has been for a long time. They've just had
to make some adjustments because of the amount of injuries
that they've sustained, particularly towards the back line.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
And I think it's a good team.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
I think last year was better and I think everybody
is aware of that with the goals they scored, but
they have their disposal that they haven't had a natural
goal scorer this year as they did as they have
done over the last couple of years.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Really with with Brandon Vasquez and co.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
It's obviously been troublesome for them not having Lucianavacosta as
available as they wanted him to be. Over the course
of the last couple of weeks, he's had this troubling
foot issue that's really caused him problems, and a lot
of people on the coaching staff and the medical staff
thought he was going to be back and available now
for this stretch and this big run heading into the postseason.

(07:02):
The question mark is whether he's going to be available
for the majority of it, and if he is available,
what sort of a Luciano Acosta are f C Cincinnati
going to have because he's not going to be one
hundred percent, so everything went through him, so much went
through him at the very least, and so now I
think it's down to the supporting cast that really step up.
And we've seen the likes of Luca Areshano doing just

(07:22):
that over the course of the last couple of weeks,
and I wonder, now is Pat Noon and going to
play him a little further up the field? Is he
going to play him as one of the dual tends
as we've seen from time to time with f C Cincinnati,
because he did so against Santos Lagoona and he scored
a marvelous goal, And so I wonder will players like
that now step up and take responsibility, because that's the
one thing again that Pat Noon insinuated, is that there

(07:44):
has been a slight lack of leadership over the course
of the last six to seven weeks, and a lot
of that is because of the absence of Matt Miasko
and Nick Haglin to.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
A certain degree as well. They were very vocal and
very supportive, but Nick Haglan's I think has been a
miss well most of them people alives.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
As well, but certainly Matt Maasco. But that new insinuated
that they need to win. They need to win on Saturday,
but they need to do it with an intensity as well.
Moving into the last portion of.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
The campaign, Callum, that was awesome. I appreciate the time,
have a great call on Saturday. Hopefully this season our
pass will cross again.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Thanks so much, Absolutely sounds good. Thank you for having me.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
You got at FC Cincinnati hosting CF Montreal on Saturday
night at seven thirty. That match available Apple TV MLS
season past. Callum Williams and Kaylin Carr on the call,
