at Emory Federal Credit Union. Emory Federal Credit Union, your
credit union with heart since nineteen thirty nine. Go to
EMORYFCU dot org. I think it's Saturday. I believe Saturday
is National Credit Union Day, so I can't think of

(01:18):
any better way to celebrate than by becoming a member
of Emery Federal Credit Union. Go ahead and do that,
and we'll be members of the same credit union and
we'll enjoy the secret handshake with each other. We have
a lot to get to. We're loaded today. We're loaded
every single Thursday. Our buddy Lee Sterling Paramount sports dot
com is coming up at three point thirty. Help us
make some money on college and pro football this weekend.

(01:40):
Chad Brendle's gonna join us. If you're a UC fan,
it's a busy weekend. Homecoming football Saturday, Bearcats hosting Arizona
State basketball tomorrow night, Cincinnati Ohio State preseason exhibition, and
a season. I think the anticipation for this season is
I was gonna say arrivals anything we've had since I

(02:02):
believe Mick cronin second to last year, In no other
year over the last five have since has have the
Bearcats gone into the season ranked. They're going in ranked
this year. The expectations were already massive, they're now even bigger.
So we'll spend some time with Chad on that coming
up at three forty five. It's been fun doing some
college basketball this week, and we'll do some more coming

(02:25):
up in just about forty minutes. On top of the
football game, on Saturday, Cincinnati takes on Arizona State, a
battle of two teams that were picked among the bottom
free in the Big twelve in the league's preseason poll.
More on that coming up here in just a bit.
Bengals Browns on Sunday. There's confidence now. Bengals won this

(02:48):
past Sunday. They win by ten points. They cover on
the road. I look, I was the guy last week,
and I wasn't the only one, but last week I
was the hey, we're gonna buy low guy. Right, Hey,
the Bengals offensively, they're good enough that we're not punting
on the season. They're good enough that I'm gonna go
ahead and buy that imaginary Bengals stock. Right. This team

(03:10):
going into last week had been performing way too good.
I don't think that I was very semantically responsible. They
were way too efficient on offense leading up to the
New York game, despite losing four out of five. Way
too efficient. They're way too well built to think that
this team can't dig itself out of a hole. You

(03:31):
add that on top of the upcoming schedule. And I
said this last week and I didn't get a lot
of pushback either. There aren't that many reasons to discount
their chances of at least getting to that second Baltimore
game with a shot a shot at getting into the postseason.
And then what we saw against the Giants. I was
asked on Monday morning, encouraged or discouraged. Very encouraged. Look,

(03:55):
you gotta win ugly in this league. You gotta win
a lot of different ways. The Kansas City Chiefs are
that this year. Patrick Mahomes isn't playing like himself. They're
asking him to do wigh too much. They don't have
a lot of weapons. They'll probably figure it out, but
they have figured out ways to win games in the interim,
including obviously against Cincinnati. You have to do that in sports.

(04:16):
You have to do that in the NFL. But the
thing that stood out to me was Bengals on defense.
I think the ceiling is higher, Like I think the
ceiling for the Bengals defensively is not super high. They
cannot be a top five defense. They don't have the personnel.
But I do think they have the personnel, if they
can maintain some level of health, to play at a

(04:38):
higher level than anybody would have imagined just a couple
of weeks ago. And so there are some confidence now
right Bengals are going to Cleveland. The Browns are a mess.
Deshaun Watson is the worst quarterback this millennium. That's not
an exaggeration. Go read Bill Barnwell ESPN dot com. He
is historically bad. They just traded away his favorite target.

(05:01):
Amari Cooper had dropped a lot of passes, but he
was their leading receiver. I guess that technically might not
make him his favorite target, but nonetheless, they traded away
Amari Cooper. The disaffection that I think people have up
in Cleveland with that franchise is maybe not at an
all time high, but it feels pretty close. Cincinnati goes

(05:21):
to Cleveland now as nearly a touchdown favorite. They've been
favored against the Browns before. In Cleveland Halloween two years ago,
when they lost by nineteen points, they were a slight favorite.
They were a slight dog Week one last year when
they went to Cleveland. So they they go to Cleveland
to play a one in five team Cincinnati has a

(05:41):
definitive quarterback advantage, the Browns are a mess, Cincinnati is
heavily favored, and yet there's apprehension, And I think you
would agree with that, right, there's apprehension. Maybe you're not
as apprehensive as other I'm apprehensive. I think the Bengals

(06:03):
are gonna win the game on Sunday, but I've I
don't know, man, I've seen this movie before, so to speak.
When the Bengals go to Cleveland and you feel like
they've got more than a puncher's chance to win and
they don't. It's been said off in this week. You know,
Marvin Lewis was the last Bengals coach to win in Cleveland,
and that was way back in twenty seventeen. Bengals have

(06:26):
had teams that we thought were better than the Browns
and they've gone there and lost. Bengals have had a
quarterback who we thought was better than whoever the Browns had,
and they've lost, and sometimes pretty convincingly. Usually those games,
specifically the ones in Cleveland, are not that close. So
you can't help but think of the history between these
two teams. You can't help but think of the number

(06:49):
of times you've heard about how bad of a matchup
the Browns are for the Bengals. There's also not just history.
There's what an underdog has to do in cases in
order to find a way to beat a team that
it's not supposed to beat. Take the air out of
the football, shorten the game. I'm thrilled as a football

(07:10):
fan that Nick Chubb is back because he's a fun
player to watch it because I don't root for guys
to get injured that injury he suffered the ACL tear
against the Steelers Week two last season. As a football fan,
I hated to see it because he's a terrific player
when healthy in the conversation, among the best running backs
in the sport. And so I'm thrilled that he's back.

(07:31):
But let's be honest, you would rather play the Cleveland
Browns without Nick Chubb than with and the Bengals are
going to play him with and they're not great against
the run, and so they do have a running back
who can take the air out of the football. If ever,
there was a spot where a team is supposed to
play desperate, you would think it's Sunday. Now, how deflating
is it in that locker room that Cleveland continues to

(07:53):
insist on playing Deshaun Watson. I don't know everybody, I'm
sure is going to say the right things, but you know,
I think if you're looking to grasp at a straw,
if you're a Browns fan, or a Browns player, or
the Browns coach, or even Deshaun Watson himself, it's well,
you know, we are playing a Cincinnati team that we've

(08:13):
had our way with, that does have some weaknesses on defense,
that has struggled to times this year to stop the run.
Maybe we could at least make this a fourth quarter game.
By the way, for what it's worth, the Browns did
go on the road last week as an eight and
a half point underdog, and they played just well enough
that the coach of the Eagles, Nick Siriani, was like

(08:34):
losing his mind on fans behind the Eagles sideline. Browns
didn't win, they did cover. There's also this, I'm bullish
on the Bengals. I'm bullish on their chances too, and
I will keep doing this until we get there. Get
to that Baltimore game and maybe use it as a
tipping off point, right, a jumping off point. Get to

(08:55):
that Baltimore game five and four. Can you imagine, imagine,
like the hype for that game, they go to Baltimore
five and four. Maybe the Ravens lose between now and then,
by the way, their favorite at Tampa Bay on Sunday.
I kind of like the Bucks. But just get me
to that game, get me their minimum four and five,
and I think they can do that. I think they
can do that and will do that because of their offense.

(09:18):
Let's be honest, man, the Bengals winning on Sunday does
not mean that a team that lost four of its
first five, including twice as large favorites, has earned enough
of the benefit of the doubt for us to just
think they're gonna go to Cleveland and wipe the floor
with the Browns. I think this game is gonna be difficult,

(09:39):
in large part because I think the way the Bengals
are playing, in some way, shape or form, they make
everything difficult. Now, it's not gonna matter if they make
it difficult and they win the football game, and I
genuinely do believe they will. But there's history, and there's
also a team that just hasn't yet earned earned us

(10:01):
taking any game for granted, you could say that around
the NFL, you could say that for teams that are
far better than the Bengals. I suppose, but there is
a level of nervousness about this game that maybe I
shouldn't have. But part of that is Bengals history with
the Browns. Part of that is boy, I've learned my lesson.

(10:21):
I felt great about week one, I felt great about
Week three. Now the Commanders are better than anybody expected.
The Patriots are not. I don't know that one win
against the Giants should take a fan base that felt
like it was ready to jump off the ship a
week ago and now have us assuming a victory on

(10:43):
the road. I don't The Bengals haven't earned that. Sixteen
after three o'clock. My name's Moegar, thrilled that you're with
us today. Our phone numbers are five one, three, seven, four, nine, fifteen,

Morris in an hour from now. Bengals Brown Sunday at one.
Game is live on ESPN fifteen thirty. Kickoff at one
o'clock and pregame coverage starts at nine a m. This

(11:26):
is the best time of year if you're a sports fan,
because we've got pro and college football. The storylines are
starting to establish themselves in both sports. The baseball playoffs
are happening. There are two games today. The NBA is starting.
College basketball is inch and closer. We've got Ucian Xavier
both in actual games this weekend. The NHL has started.

(11:48):
There's a lot going on. The baseball playoffs are exactly
what your team's owner wants, whether it's the Reds or
someone else. We'll get to that incredible sports talk radio
topic when we come back. My name is moe It's

Speaker 2 (12:17):
If you're looking for a place to watch the game
on Sunday. How about this Battle of Ohio Bengals and Browns. And,
by the way, Channel eight in Cleveland, whatever that is.
I know it's a TV station. I don't know the
call letters, nor am I paid too, so I don't care.
They're reporting the Browns are moving to brook Park, which
is in the suburbs, and they're going to have an

(12:37):
indoor stadium. It's fans on social media are making the distinction.
It's not a dome, it's a roof, which, by the way,
good for them. It's cold as hell up there. Also,
I bet you in my lifetime Cleveland gets the Super Bowl.
I didn't think one was going to be in Indianapolis.
They've had two in Detroit, why not Cleveland. But anyway,

(12:59):
Bengals and Browns of Ohio watch it in Kentucky at
Dickman's in Fort Right. I will be there. We gave away,
we gave away some prizes on Sunday night. We gave
away jelly roll tickets and some gift cards and a
gigantic bag full of cash. Okay, we didn't give away
a gigantic bag full of cash, but we gave away
some prizes and we had a blast and the Bengals won,

(13:20):
and so we're gonna just you know, run it back
good to Dickman's on Sunday, Bengals Browns at one o'clock.
We hope to see you there. Our buddy Lee Sterling
on college and pro football. Make us some money coming
up in just a few minutes. Chad Brendle a little
bit later on as well. The baseball playoffs. There are
two games today Yankees and Guardians. Tonight Game three in Cleveland,

(13:41):
New York. Up to Guardians have played really sloppy, and
then last night the Dodgers destroyed the Mets in Game
three to take a two to one series lead. There
they'll play game four today in Queens. You've seen this
a lot on social media, folks lamenting if you will. Well,
you know, look at the payrolls of the Dodgers and

(14:02):
the Mets. This is what Bud seligs legacy is. Bud
Seliggs in the Hall of Fame, but Bud Seedleiggs legacy
in Milwaukee, as he brought major League baseball back to Milwaukee.
The Seattle Pilots. He bought and brought them to Milwaukee.
The Braves had left years before. So good for him,
But as a commissioner, I think Bud seligs legacy is
convincing people in small markets that their teams had no chance.

(14:26):
And so he's no longer the commissioner, But you know,
there's got to be like a twinkle in his eye
whenever he hears or reads folks talk about how well you
know you have no chance. Look at the Dodgers. Dodgers
haven't won a World Series in a full season since
nineteen eighty eight. Mets haven't won a World Series in
thirty eight years. The Yankees haven't won a World Series
or played in one in fifteen years. Money doesn't guarantee

(14:49):
success in that sport, it doesn't. Owners love this. Other
owners love this because, yeah, you know what, the more
people are writing and talking about how we'll see these
teams are just winning because of the money they've thrown
at their teams, and they do spend. By the way,
the Dodgers are two games away from the World Series

(15:11):
despite losing their entire starting rotation, and perhaps no organization
in baseball over the last fifteen years has done a
better job of cranking out talent. But owners love this.
Owners love it when the media carries the water for them.
Then there'll be a lot of columns written about because
it's gonna be at least one New York or LA
team and maybe another New York team based on how

(15:32):
things unfold between the Yankees and Guardians. Owners love it
when the columns will come, and they'll come from Kansas
City and Pittsburgh, and they might come from Cincinnati. See,
smaller market teams can't compete, Yeah, they can, like I don't.
I have no sympathy for an owner who says he
or she can't compete. You got into the game knowing

(15:54):
how it works. And two years ago when there was
a lockout and there were voices like mine who said,
if you want the business model of baseball to change,
if you want the economic structure of baseball to change,
then you need to be a fan of this lockout.
Owners didn't stick to their guns. They never do. It's

(16:18):
up to the owners to force the players by not
letting them play, to change the economic structure of the
game until that changes, until the owners do that, until
they essentially agree to continue to play by these rules.
I do not have any sympathy for a generationally wealthy
person who decides I can't compete with the Yankees or

(16:41):
the Mets, or the Phillies or the Dodgers, and yet
I'm not going to sell my team. Baseball owners do
nothing but make money. And maybe most can't spend what
the Dodgers spend and what the Yankees spend, but in
most instances they can still spend more. Lee Stirling, Paramount

it's Thursday at three thirty five. Lee, what's up.

Speaker 7 (18:34):
I'm good. I'm good. If we get some games like
we did last week with the Oregon, Ohio State and
college football, we're gonna be very happy. We got to
hope they're better than the Giants and Bengals game. So
my wife, actually she was watching the game with me
last Sunday night and she said to me the next day,

(18:54):
she goes, that's I think the first game that I
fell asleep two on Sunday night and said, honey, you'll
have to explain your apology accepted.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
I don't know, Lee. I thought it was an absolute
work of art, a ten point victory for the Bengals
as road favorites. I thought it was beautiful. I have
no idea what you're talking about.

Speaker 7 (19:14):
Okay, all right, you know.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
A game on Saturday that, if you would have said
to most observers of the Big Twelve, has a chance
to be pretty entertaining and pretty interesting. Cincinnati was picked
to finish fourteenth in the Big twelve preseason poll. Arizona
State picked to finish last. And yet these two teams
have a combined three losses by a combined total of

(19:42):
less than two touchdowns. Interesting game with the Bearcats favorite
at home on Saturday.

Speaker 7 (19:47):
Yeah, and there's a lot of layers to this game.
Arizona State got that nationally televised revenge for last year's
fifty five to three loss to Utah out of the way.
You know that they were going to and be, you know,
still riding that high until probably Tuesday or Wednesday. The
fans rushed the field, the goalpost came down. Now they

(20:09):
got to travel a long way to face a team
they're not real familiar with, the one year head start
on them in the Big twelve, and they're gonna be
doing without their starter, Jeff Simms, their new starter. People
remember way back he was the quarterback for two years
at Georgia Tech. Calling him a turnover machine would be

(20:29):
kind of nice, and then he moved on to Nebraska
where that continued. He said his third stop here. You know,
except for those turnovers, you know, when they were driving
for touchdowns by swersby they beat this team pretty dunk good.
Last week. They were nine for eleven on third downs here.
So I just think that Cincinnati plays good football right now.

(20:51):
They're catching Arizona at the right time. Blow out City
Cincinnati forty two twenty hint, hint, my selections for my clients.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Also, Oh I love it. Yeah, Bearcats winning big at
home to improve to five and two. Al Right, in
the NFL, we get a Super Bowl rematch. You're gonna
hear it a lot this week. How good Andy Reid
is coming off of bye. How good Patrick Mahomes has been.
What he's getting points, He's not getting many, but he
is a dog in that rematch against San Francisco.

Speaker 7 (21:23):
Yeah, thirteen three and one as Patrick Mahomes as a
dog since he became the starter. Crazy that he's already
in his eighth year, so he is really good. I
mean he's obviously missed his number one receivers, best running
back to Checko, but San Francisco probably missing a top
two running backs to this game here. So I like
the Casey defense. I think they're special. Here. I give

(21:48):
everyone a hint here, I got Brock Perdy as quarterback
of my fantasy team I'm sitting in this week. So
I like Kansas City thirty to seventeen.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
All right, let's go to the Battle of Ohio. The
Bengalose issues playing in Cleveland have been well documented. They
haven't won their outright since twenty seventeen. I'm not sure
they've covered since then. They're pretty hefty favorites against the Browns.

Speaker 7 (22:12):
Otto Graham, he might be rolling in his grave if
he saw how bad Cleveland's offense is. Zero first downs
in their last twenty five third down attempts is just
one example how bad the Browns are struggling behind this
banged up offensive line, now missing receiver, do it a trade,
no ground attack and Deshaun Watson's descent to the bottom

(22:36):
of all the quarterbacks in the NFL. The Bengals saved
their season last week beating the Giants here. It was
not the most impressive performance, but since Andy was outgained
and had eleven fewer first downs in the GMN. But
they're gonna stop Nick Chubb. I think Nick Chubb's gonna
get twelve to fifteen carries in this game. Browns have dominated,

(22:59):
as you mentioned the as at home, winning the previous
six meetings without a blowout bout victory's here the last
two seasons. Cincinnati finally gets their revenge here. The right
team is favored, but they don't cover Cincinnati twenty three
twenty Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
I think we're we're kind of on the same page.
Your free play of the week. The line is interesting
because the Jets over the last two weeks, they they
lose a game on Monday Night where they they commit
eleven penalties, they missed two field goals, they have fired
their coach, and now they go in the road and
their favorite slight favorites against Pittsburgh.

Speaker 7 (23:34):
How about this, So the line started Pittsburgh as a
one and a half point favorite. Base pretty solely on
the trade and Devonte Adams coming the line switched to to.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
The other way.

Speaker 7 (23:46):
Three and a half points for a receiver. I have
never seen that happen before. You want to find out
if the line move is justified, be one of the
first five callers call eight hundred, four hundred nine seven
four to one, give you the game free eight hundred
four hundred nine seven four to one. Heba. Last weekend,
we had the five for fifty five Saturday and Sunday

(24:06):
with a max wager forty to fifteen to play both days.
What do we do? We went four and one both days.
How can you hop on board? How about this through
the end of the month October fifteen straight days of
football one hundred and ninety seven dollars works at the
thirteen dollars a day? Where do you hop on board
and start winning? Just one place? Paramount sports dot com.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
All right, get that game Steelers Jets eight hundred, four
hundred and nine to seven four one in. Check out

It's Chad's birthday. It is Chad's birthday. Chad celebrating his

Speaker 8 (25:32):
Us two weeks after yours to the day, Happy birthday,
how are you celebrating?

Speaker 2 (25:38):
Thank you for being on this show.

Speaker 8 (25:42):
Mostly what I've been looking forward to is this. But
I'm gonna go out and have some dinner with family
tonight and then there might be a few Cincy lights
in my future.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Good man, all right, very good, Well, have one for me,
You're gonna be busy this weekend. Let's start with the
basketball Bearcats Ohio State tomorrow charity exhibition. What are you
looking forward to seeing from you see tomorrow night.

Speaker 8 (26:06):
I think number one on the list is probably number
one on everyone's list, right, is Gisel James ready for
the star turn?

Speaker 9 (26:14):
Like we we saw what he did.

Speaker 8 (26:16):
At the end of last year, He's had an entire
offseason to continue his progress. He has been really, really
good throughout the spring summer and since practice started a.

Speaker 5 (26:28):
Couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 8 (26:29):
So you know, I'm not going to be down on
him if he doesn't have a big game, but I think,
you know, I'm excited to see, like is he ready
to take that next step? And then the obvious, how
do the new guys fit in? How do they look
Connor Hickman and Dylan Mitchell and and Aaronton Page and
Tyler Betsy, how do they fit in? What do they

(26:50):
look like right out of the shoot And so those
are kind of the basic things. And you know, obviously
you want to see Dan play well. And you know,
I'm a big Seamos Lucosius guy, excited to see what
he looks like without the getting hit.

Speaker 9 (27:06):
By a car.

Speaker 8 (27:08):
Early in the season. So you know there's a list
of things. But really, man like, think about how excited
Let's say, in like eighteen minutes, Gisel James puts up
fifteen points and hits a couple threes and you know,
has a breakaway dunk or something along those lines. You see,
fans are gonna feel feel real good walking out of

(27:29):
that arena Sunday night, Saturday, Friday night.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Yeah, in games that count, that are competitive, how many
players will Wes Miller play.

Speaker 8 (27:41):
Early or late? Because I mean early. You know that
there's I think potentially like seven starter quality players on
this roster, and then you know Arrington Page is going
to back up as these bandago, where does CJ. Frederick

(28:03):
fit into this whole thing? I think you know, we've
talked about this a bunch of Well, we did this
last year. You know, we did all year. Last year
we dismissed John Newman, didn't we Yeah, completely dismissed John
Newman all the way to the start of the season,
and then it turned out he was one of, if
not the most important player. Like I'm not saying that's

(28:23):
you know, going to be a carbon copy here. But
let's not forget there are not five better pure shooters
in college basketball than CJ. Frederick. If he's healthy, like
he's going to have a role on this team, West
Miller's gonna have to find him minutes. I mean, I
think it's going to start at nine or ten at least,

(28:44):
and then you know, you would think by the time
you get into February that that will have trended itself
down some. But I mean early in the season, I
expect most everybody to find minutes and to see where
they fit in this rotation.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
So I think that's what's interesting about this team is
let's assume they enjoy good health, right and it's it's
not an attrition thing. And unfortunately they're not gonna have
Tyler McKinley. What's interesting to me is, you know, you
get excited about a team that has you know, ten
or eleven guys, and you'll hear it all the time.
In September and October point they're eleven deep and the
season will begin and coaches are trying to get everybody

(29:19):
minutes and it's like watching hockey line changes, you know,
with with guys coming in and out. And then when
you get to conference play, when the games get really hard.
Suddenly teams are playing seven or eight guys, And my
guess is we see something like that. What I'm really
interested in looking in watching unfold is how that evolves
from what they are. And you could say this about

(29:41):
a lot of teams what they are starting on the
fourth of November to even what they are. I think
their first conference game is New Year's Eve, even what
they are then, just in terms of how he uses personnel.

Speaker 8 (29:52):
Yeah, I was also gonna say the season gets hard
New Year's Eve, right, Kansas State, Kansas, Arizona, Baylor, Like,
the season gets hard, real fast, real quick when you
get into the Big twelve play. But yeah, that is
going to be an interesting part. And you know, I
think that's why it's great. You get you get this

(30:13):
scrimmage Friday night, and then next week. I'm not allowed
to talk about this mo it's super secret, nobody's allowed
to know.

Speaker 9 (30:21):
But they also have.

Speaker 8 (30:22):
A really good, super secret scrimmage next week against a
pit team that is, you know, in a lot of
people's top twenty five. So they're definitely gonna get tested
leading into the start of the season. I think that's
a good thing in helping kind of, you know, determine
what the roster is going to look like and what
their rotations are going to look like.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
This is an interesting football game. On Saturday, Arizona State
comes to town. They were picked to finish last in
the Big Twelve. They've lost once by eight to Texas Tech.
Obviously they're not going to have their starting quarterback. What
about the sun devil should concern me?

Speaker 8 (30:58):
Well, the first thing, mo is, I'm from here on out.
I am taking the preseason Big twelve football poll and
firing it into the sun. It's the most meaningless thing
I've ever encountered in my twenty five years in sports.
My goodness. But look, if you haven't seen Cam Scattibo

(31:19):
play like he is a lot of fun to watch
as long as he's not playing your team. The dude
runs incredibly hard, He breaks tackles, He does not go
down easily at first contact. They have struggled offensively twice
this year, and in those games, camp Scattaba was held

(31:39):
to under seventy yards. If Cincinnati can keep him in
check like they did R. J. Harvey against UCF last week,
this is a game. They have a very good chance
to win if he goes all TODs Brooks on him
and busts out for one hundred and seventy yards, It's
going to be difficult for Cincinnati to beat this team. Physical,

(32:01):
they play an aggressive brand of football. I really really
like Kenny Dillingham and what he's been able to do there,
and they're going to be a tough out even without
their starting quarterback. But if you can limit Cam Scattibo,
I think you can kind of box in their offense.
And you know, hopefully Brendan Sowarsby finds his rhythm early

(32:25):
in this game, because we have seen it, you know,
through the first six games. When he is clicking, he
is such a fun quarterback to watch. You go back
to the the UCF game, Oh, middle of the third
quarter to middle of the fourth quarter, ten straight completions,
six of them for first downs. Like when when you
have a quarterback that can get on those type of runs,

(32:48):
you got a chance to win a lot of games.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
Do they have a kicking problem?

Speaker 8 (32:55):
No, I don't think so. I mean, Nathan Hawks is
what eight of eleven, So the mythss have been an
opportune don't get me wrong, mister especially you know the
two against texasttack. But you know, he's brand new to this,
like they he was at Wittenberg, so it might take

(33:19):
a little.

Speaker 4 (33:20):
Bit of time.

Speaker 8 (33:20):
I think the main thing is that I've seen so far.
You got to get him lined up in the middle
of the field if at all possible. He is much
better from the middle of the field than he has
been from the hatches.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
Yeah, that's uh, that's a fair point. All right, we'll
see you tomorrow night.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
Sounds good.

Speaker 8 (33:39):
How many pens are we is it? Do you pin
toss at a charity exhibition game?

Speaker 2 (33:45):
Hell? Yeah, they're keeping score, right, Okay, yeah, yeah, they're
keeping score. No, it's the pens will be thrown. I mean,
I hope they're not, but they will be in the
position to be thrown, that is, if they're keeping score.
I care so absolutely for the listeners.

Speaker 8 (34:04):
MM, for the listeners that don't know. During the pandemic,
I got to sit in the lows box behind the
radio team, and my seat was directly behind Mo. And
one of the things that entertained me in those incredibly
strange games with no fans in the stands was watching
Mo toss his pen at every inopportune moment, and uh,

(34:29):
it was. I rather enjoyed it.

Speaker 4 (34:30):
It was.

Speaker 8 (34:30):
It was a lot of fun and kept me entertained.
And now I don't get to see it, so I
have to live vicariously through talking about it in these
radio interviews.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Yeah, Dan and Terry love it. They they they absolutely
love that dynamic that I bring to the table. All Right,
have a great birthday, man, celebrate wisely. Thanks b all Right,

It's Friday Football Frenzy. This is the Ortho Cincy Moegger

Dan Klaskins with some important Week seven fantasy football advice,
and god knows I needed that. Coming up at four
forty five. Robert Wintromp later on Tom Gamble on the
game of the year perhaps in area high school football,

(35:55):
and so much more. We're here till six o'clock. We
got to get to a poll question as well on
x thanks to United Heartland Insurance. I mentioned this and
I sometimes I enjoy sitting back and looking at social
media and watching people fight about stuff. In Cleveland, I
guess the Browns are moving to the suburbs. I don't

(36:15):
know enough about Cleveland to tell you where the suburb
is in relation to downtown and Franklin, nor do I care,
but they're I guess building. They're going to be leaving
the stadium they're in, which is a fine facility. I've
been to two games there. I saw the Rolling Stones
last summer. That was awesome. They're moving to a new stadium.
The stadium they play in is all of twenty five

(36:36):
years old, but they're going to the suburbs and the
Haslims starting in twenty twenty nine, are going to have
the Browns play, I guess, in an indoor stadium, a
stadium with a roof, and I think the roof will
be able to open and close, like Milwaukee, like Indianapolis,
and a whole bunch of others. And so this inevitably

(36:58):
triggers the conversation about should football be played outside in
the elements? It's not meant to be played indoors, is it,
And that there are certain things in life that you
change your mind about, perhaps with the benefit of age
and time and for me at least, a greater understanding
of the value of a dollar. So like when I

(37:21):
was younger, I was that guy, you know, football, football
of any sport is meant to be played outside in
the elements. And then you get a little bit older,
and you value your free time a little bit more,
and you value your money a little bit more, and

(37:41):
you understand, you know, the value of a dollar, and yeah,
you're more cognizant of you know, as our parents said,
money doesn't grow on trees. And so like I've changed
completely in that regard. Put me inside in December, like

(38:04):
legit put me inside when it's cold. If you know,
we're talking here about, you know, renovating the venue formerly
known as Paul Brown Stadium, and what that's gonna look like.
And you know, those are conversations that are gonna unfold
in the coming years. But if you would have said
to me back when they built that stadium, you want
a dome. You know that stadium debut, I was twenty

(38:26):
two years old. I was that guy, uh uh build it.
And then we'll just we're gonna suck it up in
the cold, because that's how football's meant to be played.
As twenty two years old, and then you kind of realize, like,
you know what, I go to these games for entertainment.
I'm better entertained. If I'm comfortable, I'm gonna end up.
You know, when I was twenty two years old, Daddy

(38:47):
was still paying for the tickets. Now I'm a little
bit older. If I'm paying that kind of coin, I
don't want to be miserable. Put me in the comfort.
Hell yeah, I'm jal At Cleveland, they get you know,
Harsher went. It's colder, it's more north, so it's a
little bit different than here. Hell yeah, put me inside,
Put me inside. I've seen a decent number of indoor,

(39:10):
cool weather football games, and I've sat in the elements,
and like, I'll sit in the elements. Although I'll admit
man as as somebody who's been a Bengals season ticket
holder since you know, my dad was around and I
was in college, and I still go to every game
when they're out of it and it's miserable out. You know, again,
there was a time in my life where I'm cutting through.
Now I don't know, like, is it really worth it.

(39:33):
I went to the AFC Championship game, the second one
in Kansas City. That is the coldest I've ever been
in my life, and you know, they didn't win the game,
but the experience was still awesome. Would it have been
even better if instead of focusing on the game and
how cold I was, I only had to focus on
the game. I think the answer is yes. I think

(39:53):
that's a generational thing. You know, a young man and
you're not You're not. He cared so much about comfort
and yeah, yeah that play plan and it's a negative
degree you get older. Yeah, I want to be comfortable.
I'm paying the kind of money they charge for football tickets.
I want to be comfortable. I I I don't. I

(40:15):
don't want to have to wear nine layers of clothes.
I don't want to have to wear a mask, you know,
like a ski mask. I don't want to have to
worry about frostbite. I don't need I don't want to
have to snug smuggle in cardboard to stand on so
I can still feel my toes. People were doing that
in Kansas City and like having it taken away. Give

(40:36):
me a roof if I'm a Browns fan, especially again
the weather. The weather up there is worse than we get.
I could watch November December it's Cleveland, hopefully never January.
Football games inside when it's like seventy degrees or out
in the elements. Give me seventy degrees. I wish we

(40:56):
had a roof. They ever, like, really want to make
the stadium better, and they've done a good job with that.
They've done a good job with the stadium. They're gonna
upgrade it. They're probably gonna price some people out, unfortunately.
But if they came out with a plan today that said, yeah,
you know what we're gonna do is we're gonna put
a roof on that stadium. Dude in By the way,
you'd also get more events. And I have gone up

(41:20):
to see the Reds play Milwaukee a bunch of times.
There's something cool about knowing in baseball the game is
gonna be played, and when the roof is open, you
feel like you're outside. When it's closed, they don't care.
Indianapolis man, I've been to games at Lucas Oil. When
that roof is closed, it's fine. Sign me up, give
me the roof. Ten after four, I was searching for

(41:41):
a pole question. Maybe that's gonna be it. Would you
like to see him put a roof on the venue
originally known as Paul Brown Stadium? Maybe maybe that's maybe
that's what we'll do. Ten after four, eleven after four
Bengals injury report is a dude to come out here
in just a bit. Jay Morrison on the Bengals in
a few minutes. The greatest asset a team can have

(42:03):
is really good health. It's the greatest asset. Like we
say this all the time. It's often I think in
particular in football, but you can apply this to the
other sports man. It's it's often not the best team
that wins, it's the healthiest. It's the most well put together.
It's the one where they're not having to put bubble
gum or chewing gum in a hole. It's the one

(42:24):
where they're not having patchwork units. Your greatest asset can
be health. Go back to twenty twenty one. Man, Now,
the Bengals suffered an injury in the postseason, Larry Ogunjobi
got hurt in that game against the Raiders. But if
you go back to that year and compare them to
the other teams in what was that season or relatively

(42:45):
weak AFC, where the Bengals the best team in the
conference that year. No, as the playoffs unfolded, were they
the healthiest?

Speaker 10 (42:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (42:54):
And so I don't know what sort of injury shape
the Bengals are going to be in when we get
to December and January and hopefully February. I don't know
right now, understanding that Dax Hill isn't healthy, Understanding for
what it's worth, Jackson Kirklan isn't healthy.

Speaker 6 (43:10):
I know.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
I dwell on this more than others. It's like, like
I like football wagering, and I like talking and writing
about football wagering. It's the first thing I look at
every team's injury report, all right, how long is it,
how many subs are playing, are they using guys that
would be otherwise on the street. It is a factor

(43:30):
in this sport that is sometimes not nearly talked about enough.
And everybody deals with injuries, so it's never an excuse.
But you look at the Bengals right now. This is why,
this is why I'm bullish on them. I'm bullish on
them in the short term because the schedule is easy
and because they're healthy. But the takeaway from Sunday night
from a defensive perspective. Number one, yes, the Giants aren't

(43:53):
very good. Number Two, that defense, when healthy, and you
might not every single week have all the guys the
Bengals had in New Jersey on Sunday Night. But this
defense went healthy can be pretty good. And a pretty
good defense with the way the Bengals are constructed offensively,
should be good enough. I actually am maybe more than others.

(44:18):
I'm optimistic that this team defensively can can can make
tremendous strides or enough of a of a leap, so
to speak, that we can start to talk about them
in championship terms. Look, here's the deal. Right, we went
into the season talking about whether or not the Bengals

(44:38):
could compete for a Super Bowl, and we're not doing
that anymore. Number one, the record's not very good, so
you've got to catapult yourself back into contention. But we
realize that through six games, they do something really well
they play offense, they do something very poorly, they play
defense well. That formula is probably not good enough to

(45:00):
win a championship. So what can they do between now
and the end of the season to be in a
position where we could legitimately talk about them winning a championship.
The first answer is obvious, it's win a lot of games,
make the playoffs. But if you want to have a
legitimate chance to advance there, you can't do that when
your defense is a total liability. At least you don't
want to try to do that with your defense being

(45:21):
a total liability. And so the only way we talk
about their chances being legit and feeling good about their
chances if they get there, is if the defense catches
up to the offense. I don't think it can. From
the perspective of Bengals have a chance to have one
of the best offenses in the NFL. So far, through
six games, they have been one of the best offenses

(45:43):
in the NFL. Defense can't get there. But if they can,
and this is a huge if, and it's something they
can't control, it's a variable beyond their control. If they
can stay reasonably healthy on defense, and again I know
Dak Sills out for the season, I think with the
benefit of time, with using some younger guys that have upside, like,

(46:03):
they're playing a lot of guys that they have had
belief in on some level. DJ Turner wasn't some seventh
round pick. Jordan Battle got more playing time on Sunday Night,
you know, wasn't some guy they grabbed off the street
as a college free agent. They thought highly enough of
Chris Jenkins and McKinley Jackson to take them early. In

(46:23):
a day and age where instant production is at a premium,
the expectation is those guys should be able to contribute.
They drafted Miles Murphy in the first round for a reason,
although he has mostly been invisible. And so if those
guys end up showing and producing to the level the
Bengals thought when they drafted them, why can't this defense
be somewhere middle of the pack and maybe even higher.

(46:47):
There are some pieces now maybe not a piece that
you go, Okay, how do we keep that guy from
screwing up everything we're trying to do in a game?
I said this, I think on Tuesday Show, defenses do
get better. Man twenty twenty one a season we all cherish.
In the middle of the season, the Bengals defensively were terrible.
Mike White scored thirty four points, the Cleveland Brown scored

(47:10):
forty one. The Chargers dropped forty one on them both
those games at what was then Paul Brown Stadium, and
then by the end of the season they were terrific.
Defenses do come together. I still think it can happen
with this one. Sixteen after four o'clock orthosin c Moegger Show,
Dan Laskins on Fantasy Football help coming up at four

(47:32):

He joins us every single Thursday. This week it was
his birthday today. It's just a normal Thursday, and so
I think everybody's feeling a bit of a letdown. Nonetheless,
it's good to have you, Jay. How are you.

Speaker 9 (48:08):
I'm doing great. Hey, it's my mom's birthday today, So
not just a normal Thursday.

Speaker 2 (48:12):
It's your mom's birthday. I bet your mom is listening
to this show right now and hanging on every word.

Speaker 9 (48:19):
No, probably not. She's turning eighty today. My brother's in
town from Florida. I think they're out doing something.

Speaker 4 (48:26):
Else right now.

Speaker 2 (48:27):
All right, Well, I can't blame her for that, which
which history matters more the fact that historically speaking, Toshaun
Watson this season has been terrible, or that the Bengals
haven't beaten the Browns since Marvin Lewis was the coach.

Speaker 9 (48:41):
I think you have to go with the more current.
I mean, what really does twenty eighteen and twenty nineteen
and even twenty twenty eight, twenty twenty one, what does
that have to do with this year? I would say
not much. I think the players understand it's not much.
But Deshaun Watson, that's I just don't see how turns around.
I think they get a lift. I think Nick Chubb

(49:03):
coming back as any great running back would help the
passing game. But I mean, the Browns are just they
can't get out of their own way. You know what,
one for twenty nine on their last twenty nine third downs,
one they've had scored in twenty nine touchdown drives, or
they scored once in twenty nine touchdown drives. It's just
historically bad and it is weird. You don't see quarterbacks

(49:27):
of that caliber fall off the cliff like that, but
it's I just don't see how it rebounds. Even though
the Bengals defense has struggled a little bit, I think
the Cleveland Browns defense is going to have to win
this game for them.

Speaker 2 (49:43):
Can they You know, we watched last week what New
York did upfront against Cincinnati, and we talked about that
on the Growler podcast a little bit. And New York
has a good defensive front. The Browns, it's interesting metrically,
they're not nearly as good as they were last year,
and they were terrific, specially down the stretch. And yet
you know, you see some of the same names you

(50:04):
talk about Miles Garrett and then you kind of apply
that to what we saw the Bengals and their issues
with pass protection last week, and I think there's some
degree of concern, at least from a fan perspective.

Speaker 9 (50:14):
Should there be, Yeah, absolutely, I think there should be, because,
like I said, again, the Nick Chubb thing coming back,
I think is pretty big. And if you think about it,
the Browns personnel is the same, and they're playing really
well early in games, but it's it's still these games
have been warm, and these they are on the field

(50:36):
a lot. When that offense can't move the ball, it's
just natural that you're going to start wearing down. I mean,
we've talked about it with the Bengals defensive line, how
important it's been to get the guys back and get
that rotation going and make them pressure in the fourth
quarter and talk all the time about complimentary football. And
that's not happening in Cleveland. And I think that's a
big reason why the brown defense hasn't been bad. But

(50:58):
it hasn't hasn't looked like it has in the past.
But you get Nick Chubb in there to start moving
the ball, eating some time, letting that defense get a
little bit of rest, and I think this this Bengals
offense is going to be in.

Speaker 5 (51:11):
For a fight.

Speaker 2 (51:13):
Yeah. Jamar Chase said within the last hour that this
is the best secondary they have played. I believe he
referenced Baltimore and he carved up Baltimore as Cleveland's secondary
this season. Really that good?

Speaker 9 (51:29):
Yeah, I mean there guys are the Denzel Ward, Grant Delpit,
those those guys have been there for years. He actually
said this is I think I'm trying to remember back.
I thought he said this is the best defense next
to Baltimore. So he was even putting Baltimore ahead of Cleveland,
and he carved up Baltimore. But he has struggled against Cleveland.
They all have it. It's not been pretty against that

(51:51):
that team, no matter whether it's been in Cleveland, whether
it's down here. But this offense is just humming right now.
Last week aside that a little bit different. I do
think they're gonna be able to move the ball in school.
I just don't think you're going to see them up
in the thirties, up in the four hundred yard range
against this defense. But I do think they're gonna have
enough firepower to outscore the Cleveland offense.

Speaker 2 (52:14):
Yeah, and now that we have a quarterback who can
go forty seven yards for a touchdown run with nobody
touchdown them. I mean, that's just a dimension that in Cleveland.
How are you how are you preparing for that? Do
you see? You know, you and I have talked a
lot about Chase Brown and Zack Moss. And look, I mean,
if Chase Brown's fumble gets recovered by the New York Giants,

(52:35):
maybe we're having a different conversation about him. The offense
just looks different with with Chase on the field, and
we've seen an increase in his usage. Do you see
it all the possibility that things start to tilt at
least a little bit more in favor of Chase ahead
of Zach.

Speaker 9 (52:53):
Yeah, I really do. I think you know, we started
seeing it on Sunday night against the Giants, and he's
just he I mean, Zach Moss hasn't been bad, but
Chase has been so explosive. And he's had fifty one
rushes this year and ten of them twenty percent of
his runs has gone for ten yards or more. And
he's right up there at the top of the league.

(53:13):
An explosive run percentage. He needs to touch the ball more.
And they've they've changed this running game where it was
all about efficiency in the password. Just don't lose yards,
just get what's there and get us in a move
the chains a little bit. Joe Burrow makes upthing happen
on second down, third down, whatever it is. And now
they're taking some more chances and they're having some more
players that are getting negative yardage in the running game.

(53:35):
But you can do that when Chase Brown's popping thirty
yarders or twenty yarders. It's just it's a little bit
of a different approach and an anytime that guy could
get the ball in his hands more, it's better. The
farmer was concerning that was one of the knocks on
him coming out of college. But I guess you kind
of get a little break there because they didn't recover it,
and hopefully he will be a little more cognizant of

(53:56):
that and lock up on future runs. Just can't be
put the ball on the ground.

Speaker 2 (54:01):
What'd you do for your mom's birthday? Send flowers? You
take her to get a nice dinner? What's the plan?

Speaker 9 (54:07):
A center A very heartfelt text, But tomorrow night, tomorrow night,
big big party with a lot of her friends where
Friday night we've we've rented a room and a lot
of her friends, a lot of family gonna come celebrate
the IDEA.

Speaker 2 (54:25):
Very heartfelt text. Well, very good, tell your mom happy birthday.
Thank you as always, Jay, we do appreciate.

Speaker 9 (54:31):
It all right, Thanks Bob.

Speaker 2 (54:34):
I sent her a very heartfelt text, Jaymorrison, Bengals Talk

after four o'clock. Our numbers are five point three seven
four nine, fifteen thirty and eight six six seven two
three seven seven six. Most annoying thing just happened to
me on email. This happens like once a day. I

(54:55):
don't think I have time to explain it, but maybe
a little bit later on Dan Klaskins was some fantasy
football advice for those of us who play fantasy football
coming up in just about fifteen minutes. We've asked because
I think this game is interesting. It's an NFL game.
It's interesting. It's an NFL game between two division teams.
It's interesting. It's an NFL game featuring a Bengals team

(55:18):
that's trying to climb back into contention with a star quarterback.
That's interesting. The Browns dynamic, though I know we don't
live in Cleveland, is fascinating to me. It's a quarterback
who is deeply unpopular, who, despite what the coach says,
is I believe at least being shoved down the throats
of the head coach. It's a franchise that is, you know,

(55:39):
since its reintroduction to the league, has had the damnest
time finding a franchise quarterback. It's a QB who's acquisition
and whose contract for a while at least threatened to
kind of change the dynamic between players and demanding guaranteed
money and then ultimately getting guaranteed money. And we talk
about it so much more with star quarterbacks right now.

(56:01):
And the guy stinks, and I've wondered, how does it
impact how has it impacted that locker room culture up
there in Cleveland. And so you're gonna get some answers
you're gonna hear about the Browns when we come back.
It's the Orthos Cincmo Eggers Show for thirty on ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 1 (56:20):
You've been listening to a football in Thenetti on the
official home of the Bengals Cincinnatis ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 2 (56:27):
Line service at Kelsey Chevrolet, home of lifetime powertrain protection
and guarantee credit approval from their family to yours for life,
Kelsey chev dot com. Bengals excuse me, have not yet
released their Thursday injury report, but yesterday was as as
clean as you could ever ask for and as thin

(56:50):
as you could ever ask for at this stage in
the season. So I'm gonna go ahead and be an
optimist and say that today's report is similar. Bengals Browns
at one live on ESPN fifteen thirty, as opposed to recorded.
It would sort of be stupid for us to run
the game on tape delay right pregame covered starts at
nine am. Thursday Night Football Tonight is on Fox Sports

(57:13):
thirteen sixty. Broncos and Saints Denver's head coach Sean Payton
goes back to New Orleans for the first time to
coach against the franchise he took and won a Super
Bowl with Baseball Playoffs, National League Championship Series heads to
Game four in Queens, Mets hosting trailing two games to one.
That is the nightcap of the doubleheader. I think I

(57:36):
assumed it was flip flopped. Mets and Dodgers Game four
tonight at eighth eight. Game three of the series between
the Yankees and Guardians starts in about thirty minutes. Cleveland
down two to zero, hosting game three. If you're not
listening on Wednesday night to Bengals game plan, I don't
know what you're doing. It's a two hours wall to
wall Bengals with Dan Hord and Dave Lapham, and it

(57:59):
is it is worth your time. It is what I
listen to on my way home after we do our
show on Wednesdays, and it's it's terrific. So there you go.
Among the guests yesterday, Zach Jackson, who covers the Browns
for the Athletic. He does a terrific job. We've wondered this.
You know their situation in Cleveland to Shawn Watson. They

(58:19):
continue running him out there, even though he's not only
a terrible human being but a really really, really, really
really bad quarterback. How's that decision impacting the locker room culture?
Here is Zach with the answer to that question.

Speaker 10 (58:31):
Yeah, it's quiet. Lap You know what you do if
you're them, if you find a positive and you mentioned it.
It's Chubb coming back, It's coming home after a three
game road trip, right, It's that Miles Garrett is really good.
It's the defense is really good. And you know, frankly,
the defense has not been great, but which one is
every single Sunday, you know, the defense has been good

(58:54):
enough for this team to at least be five hundred,
and it's been so bad that if they didn't just
score two touchdowns in some of these games, they'd be
five hundred. So that's not to say that they're close
to turn in the corner, because they're not. But we
know when these teams get together, you know, strange things happen.
We know that Miles Garrett taking over games is not

(59:15):
a strange thing. It's a common thing. And you know,
like maybe the trade of Amari Cooper is the start
of a total teardown and an admission that this whole
thing's a disaster, because right now it's a disaster. Or
maybe it was just to send a little message that
it's time to change and the guys here has to
play better, which they do and we'll see. So I'm

(59:38):
not ruling the Browns out this week, but I'm here
to tell you guys in total honesty, that it's worse
than it looks from the outside, and there's a chance
that it's going to be bad for a lot of time.

Speaker 2 (59:48):
Yeah, that makes me happy. Now, he answers the question
why has Deshaun Watson been so historically bad?

Speaker 10 (59:57):
Well, I think it's a lot of things. I think
the time away, I'm not sure where his mind is
in relation to football, and I'm not going to put
any words in his mouth. We didn't know him before this,
you know, he was never here. He played in Cleveland
one time and initially didn't want to come in. The
weather was a part of it because he played in
like in early November, late October game and it was
twenty degrees like it is in January here, you know.

(01:00:18):
But he is not a stylistic fit with Kevin Stefanski.
He has not played enough to be confident here. But
to me, he's just he has zero pocket presence. He
doesn't process, and I just don't see a confident player.
I just don't. I occasionally see good throws, I occasionally
see the talent that we've seen. I mean this is
we watched him as a true freshman. It comes to
the nation. Did right, But I see a guy who's

(01:00:40):
a shell of that, and these numbers are appallingly bad.
Some of them are historically bad. I'm sure you haven't
in front of you somewhere there, You're will in the
booth on Sunday. And it matches the eye test, it
really does, and we're really we've seen it. We like
I said, I've seen stretches, I've seen throws. But training camp, practiced,
and now to games like this has been three years.

(01:01:02):
He's just not good anymore. And those numbers, Austin don't
tell the story, but in this case, right now, mid
October twenty four, they do. And every dime is guaranteed
over one hundred and seventy dollars seventy million dollars in
cap commitments to this guy who's giving you no chance
to win, and the head coach is saying with a
straight face, he gives us our best chance to win,

(01:01:26):
all right.

Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
And then there's Nick Chubb, who is back in his
first NFL action this Sunday since Week two last year
when he got hurt. How has he looked in practice?

Speaker 10 (01:01:37):
Yeah, he looks like Nick Chubb. And there's been no
braces or anything, you know, he's been doing the work.
This is a guy that I've always called him the
ultimate low maintenance superstar, right because he's just not into
anything with football, and he just has always been an
incredibly hard worker and an incredibly low key talent by
his personality and by playing on some bad teams.

Speaker 11 (01:02:00):
You know.

Speaker 10 (01:02:01):
Frankly, I think they preserved his career intentionally with those years.
The Kareem hunt was really running with him. You know,
at first they had to actually trade a guy to
get him on the field. That's back when Hugh Jackson
was the coach and things were really bleak. But man,
they would love to have him. And like I said,
he it will be an emotional boost because he has
that kind of respect in the locker room, not earned,

(01:02:22):
I mean, not given earned to him. So, you know,
I don't know. I think the second time around you
might see more of Nick Chubb, but I think he'll
be introduced as a starter on Sunday. I think he'll
probably be the starter for the emotional boost. But if
he gets any more than ten or twelve carries, I'll
be surprised, and I think that's probably a key to
the game. The Browns have to get the run other

(01:02:43):
than scrambles.

Speaker 9 (01:02:44):
They have to do it.

Speaker 10 (01:02:45):
They have to help their defense that way, they have
to help the offensive line settle in, and they have
to help their quarterback by doing it. I think when
they finally moved the ball over the last twenty or
so minutes last week in Philly, it was because the
run set up some other things and finally set up
the one big spill. Only have two passes over thirty
yards all year long.

Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
And now one more. They traded Amari Cooper this week
to the Bills. Why did they do that?

Speaker 10 (01:03:11):
Well, his body language stunk, his performance was up and down,
and a lot of that was attributed to the fact
that they can't get him the ball, and the pass
offense just thinks. He had been pouting since the summer
over a contract issue. You know, some of it was
brought on themselves. They didn't extend him. They acquired Jerry
Judy for nothing and immediately extended Jerry Judy, who's never

(01:03:31):
done anything in his career. When Amari wanted his money.
They offered up Amari to the Niners and a trade
in a pursuit of Brandon Ayuka. Mauri didn't like that,
but mostly it's because Amari spent five of the six
games running routes and the ball wasn't coming near.

Speaker 5 (01:03:46):
Him most times.

Speaker 10 (01:03:48):
And the other day in the fourth quarter, watching through
the best pass of the season and Amari caught it
and it set up first and goal at the five
in the last four minutes of the game, and they
ended up kicking a field goal from the thirteen, which
kind of sad up the season.

Speaker 2 (01:04:03):
As Zach Jackson covers the Browns for the Athletic, that
was good stuff. Bengals game plan. Every Wednesday six to
eight on ESPN fifteen thirty, Dan Klaskins will help you
win your fantasy matchup this week. Next it's the Ortho Cinc.
Moeggers Show on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 8 (01:04:19):
Hey, Ohio, Pim.

Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
All right, our guy Dan Klaskins is with US Good
Sportsinfo dot com. He joins us every Thursday to dispense
fantasy football advice and help us win our leagues. I
got two leagues, Dan, One is five and one. The
other is one. In five, I'm going in complete total
opposite directions. I need some help in one. I need

(01:04:42):
some help in both. Actually I need helping the one
that I'm five and one because I might have a
chance in that one. The other one, I'm I'm playing
out the string. How you doing?

Speaker 5 (01:04:50):
Yeah, that's true, doctor Jackoll, mister high fantasy football. I'm
always consistently and consistent.

Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
You know what that is? Uh, that is a very
very fair assessment of me in every phase of my life.
The story of the week in the NFL is a
story of the week as it relates to fantasy football,
and that's wide receivers on the move. We've already had
two dealt this week, likely more. Let's talk about the
fantasy impact of the two guys who have been traded
and some other guys who still may.

Speaker 5 (01:05:21):
Be Absolutely some big moves here, and we have got
three meets to the trading debts, and actually they'll trade
deadlines on election Day in four pm like Nomember. But man,
we got some big news this week. Demonte Adams suddenly
over miraculously that hamstring issue that sidelined him. It's a

(01:05:41):
full participant that the Jet's uniform traded here and reunited
with this pow Aaron Rodgers. Obviously, this is a big
boost for Adams, who, in my opinion, with this familiarity
with everything, he goes right back into back end wide
receiver one conversation.

Speaker 11 (01:05:55):
I have concern what this means.

Speaker 5 (01:05:56):
For Garrett Wilson, the guy that was previously and I
mean that got imagining. He takes a little bit of
a depth. I'm not really excited about what's left on
the Raiders, but if I was to pick a white
out Jacobe Myers, is that guy. The more fascinating trade
for me, though, in the surprising one here the Maari
Cooper being dealt to Buffalo, where he goes from the
Shawn Watson that Josh Allen, I mean about it. I

(01:06:18):
can't put words on that up great for his fantasy value.
Cooper might take a little more time to get familiar here,
so temper your expectations, but his value is on the rise,
and certainly it's going to help Josh Allen quite a bit.
Nothing to get excited about on the Browns, I guess
by the picked the receiver Jerry Duty is now that
the factor number one. As you mentioned, though, don't what

(01:06:38):
receivers out there. I'm sure you've been talking about a
lot of our listeners, I mean the Bengals. Somehow don't
went to the next three. I mean, t Higgins be
a guy that would make any team happy. I'm not
sure there's many places he could go where I would
say his value would take a big step up. So
we will see. Hopefully that's not the case. More likely
names to get traded DeAndre Alkins, Mike william who of

(01:07:00):
course was with the Jets and now is disposable with
that his arrival, and Adam dealing with's investments here that
can help the team. Hopkins in particularly, I think it's
got enough Jews. If he lands up in a place
like let's say Kansas City, that could be a big,
big thing there, so you might want to try buying
him on the low.

Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
All right, let's talk about the injuries worth paying attention to.
Is week seven inches closer?

Speaker 5 (01:07:22):
Yes, sir, Let's start Dervis and receivers and man, I
was watching that game live with Marvin Harrison Junior last week.
That was certainly a concerning way. He just sort of
fell on the ground. He hasn't really gotten past any
stage of concussion protocol add up yet. We'll keep our
eyes on it. Still holding that hope, but unlikely. I
think he'll play in Week seven't goodness is with the

(01:07:42):
League neighbors finally out of concussion protocol return to practice today.
Now he's heard his hamstring though, so he left practice
with the hamstring issue. Will keep our eyes on that.
We are not expecting Chris a Lobby with concussion or
Rashid Shaheed for Tonight's game, but the Saints and especially
Shaheed Adam Schefter reporting he's out for the season. That's

(01:08:03):
a big blow for one of fantasy's favorite mid round
picks this summer. So New Orleans fading fast. Obviously, Nick
Chubb's coming back this week. I know we've been talking
about that one too. I'm not going to insert him
in any fantasy lineups right out of the game. I
think they're going to be easing back into it. The
offensive line not is good. Lets him play your way
into your lineup as you can. James Cook trading in

(01:08:26):
the right direction towards playing this week. Aaron Jones returned
to practice.

Speaker 9 (01:08:29):
League.

Speaker 5 (01:08:29):
Haven't seen Jonathan Taylor yet with the ankle. Jordan Mason
will get some more info on later today. I'm optimistic
he comes back after an injury a week ago Thursday.
With the day seed joined for and Andre Stevens and
they're traveling to London with the foot issue for the
second straight eight not at practice. It's looking like he's
going to miss another week here for the Patriots, and
then ty J. Spears, Devon A. Kaine, a couple other

(01:08:50):
guys with concussion hamstring will look at mo but man,
they are piling up. It is the season of survival
right now. And how whoever has the fewest injuries of
guys and their team might end up being the one
that wins third Fantasy.

Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
Yeah, no, paying attention very very closely to what's happening
injury wise around the league. All right, Dan Klaskins, Good
Sportsinfo dot com. Give me your weekly studs, duds and sleepers.

Speaker 5 (01:09:14):
I'm going to go with a pair of Brocks this week,
my friend, I'm going to go Brock Purty. San Francisco
VERSUS Kansas City teams like most are thinking it's a
defensive battle, but I don't know. I think San fran
has to keep pace here with Kansas City and Andy
Bee coming out of the by I like a higher
scoring match up here, and I think rock Purty then
lying for at least a pair of touchdowns brought Bowers

(01:09:37):
on the other side of it. I mean, he might
be the best tight end in Fantasy's certainly the best
target on Vegas and what they're playing from behind. Like
I exped against the Rams season for another big day,
they're a tight end for the rookie on the duds
side with Sean White, he's been nagged with a nagging injury.
He's also the only competition for carries now. Bucky Irving's
joined by Sean Tucker in that back to Buckfield Bucks

(01:09:58):
backfield a tough match up peer versus Baltimore White. I'm
gonna avoid him this week at all possible. I'm also
avoid Michael Pittman Junior really all cold slide outs that
I expect Anthony Richardson to return at quarterback there from
his oblique injury. Pittman Junior has been pretty much useless
when he's been under center. And then my sleeper is
a pair of guys in that London game. That's right,

(01:10:18):
saidy Laarn. Third straight League nine thirty am London game.
This one's a thriller. The Patriots and the Jaguars, two
guys I think we'll surprise. I like what I saw
from Drake May last week. His rushing Moore alone makes
him the top twenty quarterback. I think he's probably about
seventeen on my board right now if he's ready to
go there.

Speaker 9 (01:10:37):
And de Ernest Johnson.

Speaker 5 (01:10:38):
I was anticipating Travis the EUTM. Maybe that's not the case,
so I might cool off on Johnson, but as of now,
I like him as a flex player. At the autn
said and somebody you should definitely stay at and be believed.

Speaker 2 (01:10:51):
Follow Dan on x at Dan Klaskins. Make sure you

you know he is keeping his story though. This is
like it happened last week when I was on with
Lance and looks like Cooper enjoys beyond the radio as
much as me.

Speaker 2 (01:11:56):
Yeah, I got no issue with that at all. Man,
all right, have a great week. We'll talk next week. Man.

party on Sunday, make bud Light a part of it.
We are busy this hour. Robert Wintrob Cincinnati Magazine on

(01:14:39):
his weekly Bengals column coming up at about fifteen minutes.
There is a big college basketball story developing right now.
Tony Bennett, the head basketball coach at Virginia, two time
National Coach of the Year, a guy whose teams have
won eight ACC titles between the regular season and the tournament,
obviously coach the have Aliers to the twenty nineteen national Championship.

(01:15:03):
He is retiring effective immediately, and he's going to have
a press conference announcing his decision to retire tomorrow. He's
also a coach who, right or wrong, has kind of
become synonymous with very early tournament exits. Coach of the
first team to lose has a one seed to a
sixteen seed back in twenty eighteen to Maryland. Baltimore County nonetheless,

(01:15:25):
has had a heck of a run and an interesting story,
and I think we're all wanting to find out more. Certainly,
crossing our fingers, it's not any sort of major health
related issue, but that is a big story in college basketball.
Tony Bennett retiring suddenly just before the season starts and
effective immediately, not waiting until the end of the year,
effective immediately. So there you go. No major Bengals news today,

(01:15:50):
which I think is probably a good thing. I was
kind of reading about Tony Bennett, so I didn't look
to see if there's anything new on the Bengals injury report.
They've and remarkably healthy coming into this game. I'm looking
at it right now and it's the same as yesterday.
The only player with a designation beyond full is DJ

(01:16:11):
Turner limited with an ankle and certainly something worth monitoring,
but he has at least been partially practicing today limited.
I looked at the Browns injury report and unfortunately for
Cleveland fans, Deshaun Watson's not on it. So he's healthy
and gonna play on Sunday game at one o'clock live

(01:16:32):
on ESPN fifteen thirty. I am. I still remain in
excuse me by low mode when it comes to the Bengals,
and I think we all should be. It's a good offense,
it's a great quarterback schedule in the coming weeks is
pretty forgiving. Defensively, they took at least a small step
forward against the New York Giants, but man, there is

(01:16:53):
recent history and there's also a team. You don't win
one game at two and four or to improve the
two and four and then suddenly earn the benefit of
the doubt. A lot has been made of the Bengals'
recent history against the Browns, particularly games played in Cleveland.
Burrow has struggled. Look, Cleveland does have a weapon they
can use to shorten the game, and that's Nick Chubb.

(01:17:15):
How heavy is the workload and how effective is he
obviously kind of remains to be seen. But also like
the Browns have one of those guys in a Miles Garrett,
who can completely destroy everything you're trying to do in
the game. And as much as the New York Giants
did do a good job of doing some weird stuff
at the line of scrimmage, they did win one on

(01:17:35):
one battles. If Miles Garrett wins one on one battles,
that's kind of a problem. I think the Bengals win
this football game. I'm not entirely convinced they cover the number.
Maybe it's a backdoor. Maybe it's just not quite trusting
the Bengals nearly enough against the Browns. Maybe it's not
having quite enough confidence to let them lay nearly a

(01:17:56):
touchdown on the road. More than anything, this team, as
bullish as I am, on their chances to at least
jump into the fray. They haven't yet earned the benefit
of the doubt, and from a wagering perspective, the reality
is this, Twice they've been heavy favorites. Twice they have lost,
and at some point, look, Deshaun Watson's been a disaster.

(01:18:18):
I actively root against him. I think he's a scumbag
of a human being. But if you keep running a
bad quarterback out there, at some point he's gonna have
a good game. Hopefully it's not on Sunday orthosin c.
Mooegers Show on ESPN fifteen thirty. It's a loaded sports weekend.
It's my it's my second favorite time of year. I
love March a little bit more, but from a sports perspective,

(01:18:41):
there's so much going on. There's a great high school
football game as part of the Skyline Chili Crosstown showdown
Winton Woods at Anderson, both undefeated. Tom Gamble is going
to join us to a preview that and talk a
little bit about the high school football season as we
get closer and closer to the playoffs coming up in
just about thirty minutes. Also, we did not do our

(01:19:01):
orthos since He's segment last week for reasons that are
not important. We didn't do it yesterday, We're doing it today,
So we really haven't had a chance to talk about
Dax Hill and Jackson Kirkland. But the injury that is
interesting to me is Aiden Hutchinson of the Detroit Lions.
Number one, gruesome looking. Number two surgery immediately after they

(01:19:22):
got him out of the stadium. And number three they're
at least allowing for the possibility that with a broken tibia,
he may still recover and rehab well enough to play
if the Lions made the Super Bowl. So what are
the experts from Ortho? Since he is going to join
us to talk about him and Dax and Jackson coming
up in just about twenty minutes. I got about three

(01:19:43):
minutes here, five point three seven, four nine, fifteen thirty. Mike,
go ahead, you're on ESPN fifteen thirty. What's up?

Speaker 4 (01:19:51):
If you allow me, I'd like to continue the bash
and I head of Nick Krawl, but you straightened me
out on that the one that puts them like caulbo.
I want to have sticks in my call before I
get to a big twelve trivia question for a football
trivia question, is the deal they blew when they could
have had Kwan and took Benson. So what do you think?

(01:20:12):
Because and then the difference in quality of Bold players
night and day.

Speaker 2 (01:20:19):
Uh, do we know that the Reds could have had
Stephen Kwan?

Speaker 4 (01:20:24):
I heard that on Coward Show more than once over
the past. But baseball season, I don't know, you know,
I don't know how reputa boy he is. And then
I heard a few other players.

Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
I guess, but I guess here. Hang on, hang on, Mike,
here's what I would want to know. Okay, So the
Reds got Will Benson off the scrap heap, right. The
Guardians gave Will Benson a call up late in twenty
twenty two, but didn't have any any real room for him.
Stephen Kwan what a gold glove as a rookie and
was third in the Rookie of the Year voting in

(01:20:55):
twenty twenty two. The Guardians looked at Stephen Kwan differently
than they did Well Benson. They gave up on Will Benson.
The Reds got Will Benson because they gave up to him.
The Guardians were not in a position to give up
Stephen Kwan. So I would challenge the assertion that the
Reds chose Will Benson over Stephen Kwan. Maybe maybe that's

(01:21:15):
a thing. That is the first I've heard of it,
and I don't believe it.

Speaker 13 (01:21:21):
Okay, thanks Trivia. Question for your Big Twelve football the
obviously I have, I have stated have a pretty good year.
He got a pretty good football team. The Cyclones love
their uniforms. How many ten games win seasons do they
have in their one hundred and twenty seven history of
years of football?

Speaker 2 (01:21:41):
They've never had one? He was something, really I has?
IWA State hasn't won a conference championship since nineteen twelve.

Speaker 4 (01:21:55):
Isn't that a mind bender? A a pretty good ball club.

Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
And I will admit to you that I cheated because
I didn't cheat. But I get the Big Twelve Notes
every week, and one of the first items in the
Big Twelve Notes is how Iowa stay as six and
OHO for the first time since thirty eight or thirty nine,
thirty eight. I've got it right here, first time since
nineteen thirty eight. And then that in that series of notes,

(01:22:24):
it acknowledges that they've never had a ten win season,
they've never won a Big Twelve title, and their only
conference championships came in nineteen eleven and nineteen twelve. So
I saw that this week, so I was prepared for that,
even though I didn't know you were gonna ask me
that question. Mike, I am short on time today. I
hope you have a great weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:22:42):
Okay, how about Walker last night?

Speaker 5 (01:22:45):
Nice?

Speaker 4 (01:22:46):
I think he's back. Thanks Lo.

Speaker 2 (01:22:48):
So is show a Otani, so is Robert Wintrop, Cincinnati Magazine.
He joins us next Ortho Cincy Mouager's show on ESPN
fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 1 (01:22:58):
So this is Football in the Natti ruing for you
in part by blood Light and by Skyline Shiley on
the official home of the Bengals, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:23:10):
One of those Cincinma Eggers show on ESPN fifteen thirty
on Moleger Bengals Browns. On Sunday, watch it with us
at Dickman's in four right, kick off at one o'clock.
We've got ice cold beer, We've got great food. If
you haven't had the pizza at Dickman's, you owe it
to yourself, and tons of prizes to give away as well.
We hope to see you there. Robert Wintrop joins us

(01:23:30):
every Thursday, Right, it's weekly Bengals column for Cincinnati Magazine
dot Com. Last week, amid the one and four start,
you were expressing optimism. You were imploring Bengals fans to
feel optimistic. They won, they covered, go ahead and take
a victory lap.

Speaker 6 (01:23:47):
I feel like a gold medal winner in track and field.
I'm taking so many victory laps on this show. Really,
I really appreciate it. I mean, it didn't play out
exactly the way I thought it would in New York,
but I thought that.

Speaker 14 (01:23:59):
They could win eventually.

Speaker 6 (01:24:00):
It might not be pretty, but they get the Jeff done,
and that's all that really matters, especially.

Speaker 14 (01:24:04):
When you're one and four going into the game.

Speaker 6 (01:24:06):
And I think that still applies this week. Whatever method
it takes to stack a couple of w's together will
take it. You know, aesthetics are not important right now.
Victories are.

Speaker 2 (01:24:19):
No And obviously that was the theme to this week's
column at Cincinnati Magazine dot Com. I guess my big
takeaway from the Giants game, and I don't want to
get too wrapped up in in the results or even
how they played, but they were healthy on defense, right.
Obviously they didn't have Dax Hill but on the defensive line,
they had a full complement of guys, right and so

(01:24:40):
you know, we know what Trey Hendrickson can do, and
he was really good in that game. But the idea
has been able has been to rotate all these defensive
linemen and and sort of I don't know, come at
teams with quantity, even if not so much quality. And
that's probably not a very fair characterization. And so I
I guess here's my question. If defensively this is what

(01:25:03):
they are and they can maintain some degree of health,
they're remarkably healthy right now, is the ceiling for this
defense maybe a little bit higher than we thought?

Speaker 6 (01:25:13):
Yeah, and I think we've talked before even it isn't
quite as bad.

Speaker 14 (01:25:18):
As it seems.

Speaker 6 (01:25:19):
You know, they've played a couple of explosive offenses that
unsurprisingly put up some numbers on them when they weren't healthy.
I think they can do a lot better and they'll
start to rise in the rankings as you see the
season go along. And you talked about the front line,
I mean, you know, that's what you really want. I
think he saw in a lot of the games so

(01:25:39):
far this year is not only guys playing too many snaps,
but losing, you know, sort of their mojo as the
game went along.

Speaker 14 (01:25:47):
And the two are.

Speaker 6 (01:25:48):
Directly related, right, I mean, he had eight players on
the defensive line play this game. No one played over
sixty percent of the snaps except for bj Hill, who
is having his revenge game.

Speaker 14 (01:25:59):
So you had to be in there, you had, you.

Speaker 6 (01:26:01):
Know, the rookies Jenkins and McKinley Jackson combined for sixty
plays in the game that were basically missing for the
first few weeks.

Speaker 14 (01:26:09):
You know, It's just we don't really think about it.

Speaker 6 (01:26:11):
When we think about teams defensively, it's either oh, they
have a star pass rusher or they just have this great.

Speaker 14 (01:26:17):
Scheme that you know opponents can't crack.

Speaker 6 (01:26:20):
But to me so much, a defense is a combination
of really will you know, and getting to the ball
with speed and knowing where you have to be, and
having a lot of guys so that you can spell
your team throughout a game. Especially when you want to
play high scoring games like the Bengals do offensively, you're
going to need your defense to keep up and be
fresh for four quarters and that's hard to do and

(01:26:42):
it was very hard to do for the Bengals. When
they were, you know, shorthanded so badly along that front line.
And of course, the bigger the player, the harder it
is for them to keep up over four quarters. They
need a lot of rests. So that's really a great formula.
You saw it in New York. You saw they had
four quarters of good play along that front line, and
so long knock on Wood as the guy stay healthy.

Speaker 14 (01:27:02):
That should be the case going forward.

Speaker 5 (01:27:04):
And you know, that was really the.

Speaker 6 (01:27:06):
One thing I took away from the game really that
they can build upon for the future.

Speaker 2 (01:27:11):
Joe Burrow took some hits. He got sacked four times,
He was pressured on forty percent of his dropbacks. He
didn't throw any picks, the pressures didn't turn into mistakes.
He obviously also had that remarkable forty seven yard touchdown
run on third and eighteen. But did the Giants exploit
anything with a really good defensive front. But the Giants

(01:27:32):
exploit anything that maybe Cleveland on Sunday or other teams
moving forward can take advantage of.

Speaker 6 (01:27:39):
Yeah, I guess we have to start calling him Lamar
Burrow from now on.

Speaker 14 (01:27:42):
After that run, I was talking about track Star. That
was impressive.

Speaker 6 (01:27:47):
Well, listen, I mean I think in general terms, a
great front four and a great pass rush is going
to cause your team problems. It doesn't really matter how
good you are offensively. And you know, we've seen that
the years that the Bengals have struggled to block really
good pass rushes, they've struggled to block average pass rushes.
And I think right now the difference is they're good

(01:28:08):
against average pass rushes, but teams that can throw a
couple of all pro level defensive guys on the front
four against them are going to give them problems. And
of course that leads right into Miles Garrett, who has
always given them a lot of problems.

Speaker 14 (01:28:22):
But the key to me, I thought was that, you know, despite.

Speaker 6 (01:28:24):
The fact that they got a lot of pressure on
Joe and it wasn't the offensive performance they were looking
to have obviously, you know, it didn't destroy the game
for him. They played from the lead thanks to Burrows scramble.
You know, a lot of that was complimentary football and
the fact that defense played well, but they were always
sort of in control and made some plays when they
needed to. They had a few, certainly dead areas and

(01:28:47):
dead periods of play there, but that's what they really
need to do against Cleveland. I feel like it's just
not let Garrett destroy the game and those key moments
when he always seems to rise to the occasion when
he plays the Bengals and get that sack or strip
sack or chase down tackle, whatever it is.

Speaker 14 (01:29:04):
You know, don't let those guys do that. And they
have a lot of good defensive.

Speaker 6 (01:29:07):
Players other than Garrett, and you know, pretty solid pass rush.
But you know, their defense has fallen off a little
bit this year in large part because their offense has
been so dire, and you know, you have to think
at a certain point they are they're looking to crack there.

Speaker 8 (01:29:22):
You know.

Speaker 6 (01:29:22):
I mean, it's again the dreaded cliche complimentary football, but
it's true.

Speaker 14 (01:29:27):
One side of the ball is not, you know, holding up.

Speaker 6 (01:29:30):
It's into the bargain. It's very easy for the other
side to sort of make those dreaded business decisions and
decide not to play quite as hard as they've played
in the past. So hopefully the Bengals can get on
top gamescript has always meant so much in these games
between the Browns and the Bengals, and you know, when
they're not down fourteen nothing immediately the.

Speaker 14 (01:29:48):
Bengals look a lot different than they do in games when.

Speaker 6 (01:29:51):
You know they're they're able to match offensive firepower in
previous incarnations with the Browns, and of course this year's
Browns are terrible offensively, So you know, all they have
to do is get up by ten points if feel like,
and they'll be in great shape.

Speaker 2 (01:30:04):
Yeah. No, I'm with you there, Robert Wintrob Cincinnati Magazine
dot com. And you know, obviously the Browns. The term
dumpster fire is often overused. It feels like it applies
to what's happening in Cleveland. Deshaun Watson has been historically terrible.
They do get Nick Chubb back for this game. And
you mentioned Miles Garrett. He's a tough matchup for anybody.

(01:30:24):
It's been said in recent years, and it was said,
you know, I think a lot after that first game
of the season last year where Joe wasn't quite one
hundred percent and the Browns blew them out that, well,
Cleveland's just a bad matchup for Cincinnati. Is that going
to apply on Sunday?

Speaker 6 (01:30:39):
Well, I mean, you mentioned Chubb. I mean he's a
big part of the reason.

Speaker 14 (01:30:42):
That they've been in that matchup for Cincinnati.

Speaker 6 (01:30:44):
And you know, Chubb and Garrett, it was really those
two guys in the main who were just having their
way in previous incarnations of this rivalry. But you know,
other than the fact that the Browns probably looked at
themselves and feel confident about, oh, we're terrible, but at
we get to play Cincinnati because they've had success in
recent years against the Bengals, much as the Bengals had

(01:31:06):
a decade plus of success against Cleveland.

Speaker 14 (01:31:08):
Let's not forget for many.

Speaker 9 (01:31:10):
Years, even when the Bengals weren't that good, they.

Speaker 10 (01:31:12):
Could always circle two easy w's against the Browns.

Speaker 6 (01:31:15):
So you know, right now, it's really, like I said
a moment ago, if they can corral Garrett, and you
don't really know what Chubb's get to bring back. But
the Browns offensive line, the vaunted offensive line, is not
nearly the same as it's been in the years past.
Of course, losing Bill Callahan, the offensive line.

Speaker 14 (01:31:31):
Coach, part of it. Injuries have devastated their line. They
just aren't the same unit at all.

Speaker 6 (01:31:37):
And expecting Chubb to immediately come back from a devastating
knee injury and run for one hundred and fifty yards
might not be you know, something they can bank on.

Speaker 9 (01:31:46):
So you know, the bad matchup blows down to those.

Speaker 14 (01:31:49):
Two guys in a lot of ways.

Speaker 6 (01:31:51):
And to me, you know this, you know, with Chubb
being where he is and the line being where that
is for Cleveland, the Bengals are.

Speaker 14 (01:31:59):
Really to tilt that part of the matchup.

Speaker 6 (01:32:02):
Still have to block Garrett, still have to do the
things that they want to do on their terms, and
you know, going into the game not being in a
defensive crouch, so to speak, on offense and you know,
putting their entire you know, it's a different kind of
Bengals offensive scheme. We've talked about it a lot this year.
They've come out and been a lot more physical, a
lot more multiple.

Speaker 14 (01:32:22):
Using all those tight ends.

Speaker 6 (01:32:23):
That's something that Cleveland hasn't really experienced when they play Cincinnati,
and you know, there's a good time to unleash some
different looks on them and change the dynamic really overall.

Speaker 14 (01:32:32):
So you know, you would assume that they.

Speaker 6 (01:32:35):
Would come out and be play with the desperation that
we think they need to have, and if they do that,
they shouldn't worry about matchup problems, particularly except left tackle
against right end.

Speaker 14 (01:32:48):
Garrett against Orlando Crown.

Speaker 2 (01:32:50):
All right, one more Robert Winstrops Cincinnati Magazine dot com
Go read his weekly Bengals column. It is up as
we speak. The NFL has changed in recent years where
when the trade deadline gets closer, we start to talk
about it like we talked about the baseball trade deadline
right where we speculate which teams can add, which teams
might be in quote sell mode, and we do that

(01:33:12):
weeks before the deadline gets here. We've seen teams make
trades this week. I am going to assume that on
deadline day the Bengals are not going to be in
quote cell mode. So assuming they're looking to get better,
I know you're gonna have folks who say, look, this
is something they just do not do. But let's pretend
they're in the market at least, who should they target?

Speaker 6 (01:33:33):
But I mean, the easy answer, and yes I agree
with you, by the way that you know the Lions
share probability is that they won't do anything.

Speaker 14 (01:33:40):
It's just history points in that direction. But let's say
that they are and you know the guys who the
big names.

Speaker 6 (01:33:47):
That people throw out there, Oh, let's go get a
Max Crosby or you know, some high priced defensive sack.

Speaker 14 (01:33:54):
Artists which they obviously could use. That's pretty unrealistic as
it is now.

Speaker 6 (01:34:00):
Rightick in that mode where he would only cost you,
you know whatever the percentages half of the season the contract,
and it might be worth it if you think, for
you know, just for the stretch run, that you can
make something go with improving the fact that they're you know,
thirtieth in the league in sacks. I would certainly tick
the tires on them. Maybe somebody a little lesser, but
another body up front, you know, maybe even like Chase

(01:34:23):
Young or somebody at Manuel Logba. Miami teams are obviously
out of it. Even maybe it's a Darius Smith coming
over from the Browns. We'll see him and he can
just change locker rooms. You know, Another sacker pass.

Speaker 14 (01:34:34):
Rusher would be you know, something the team could really use.

Speaker 6 (01:34:37):
Even as we say, they played eight defensive linemen and
the rotation was looking good.

Speaker 14 (01:34:42):
Can't count on those guys being healthy. And even with
the eight, they need some more pass rush and that's
their achilles heel right now.

Speaker 6 (01:34:48):
And you could argue maybe looking to the secondary and
get a cornerback, you know, is Marshaun Lattimore available if
you really want to swing for defenses, Saints have fallen.

Speaker 14 (01:34:57):
Off a cliff. He'll be expensive. You know, maybe a
Jonathan Jones from the.

Speaker 9 (01:35:02):
Patriots as a guy I've seen thrown out there and.

Speaker 14 (01:35:04):
They're going nowhere.

Speaker 6 (01:35:05):
He's thirty one, but he knows what he's doing. Had
a good game again sincey and the opener, you know,
there's not it's not impossible that they would think.

Speaker 14 (01:35:13):
That they would try and find a mid season replacement
who can help the team at a lower level. It's
happened before, but.

Speaker 6 (01:35:20):
Not usual, and it's definitely not usual that they'll go
after a high priced guy. So I wouldn't get our
hopes up too high dreaming about trade deadlines. Let's just
approve the play with the guys that we have first
and foremost and see if we're in a position at
the deadline to make a move like that. And if
they are, that's a sign that most of the guys
on the team are playing better and they.

Speaker 14 (01:35:39):
Probably won't look to make a move as it is.

Speaker 6 (01:35:41):
So you know, it's all it's all talk radio stuff
at the moment, but you know, that's what we're doing
right now, right makes.

Speaker 9 (01:35:48):
It worth for it.

Speaker 2 (01:35:49):
It's in my wheelhouse for sure. Robert Wintroup Sinside Magazine
dot com. Awesome stuff. Well chat next week, man, Thank
you so much.

Speaker 14 (01:35:57):
Look forward to him. Oh, thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:35:58):
Robert Wintrop read his Bongs column at Cincinnati Magazine dot com.
Let's talk some injuries. Two Bengals and eighton Hutchinson's injury
as well, interesting to a lot of us. We'll chat
with doctor Matthew Grunkeemeier from Orthos Sincy. Next, it's the
Ortho Sinc. Molwegar Show on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 1 (01:36:17):
You've been listening to Football in Theinetti on the official
home of the Bengals, Cincinnatis, ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:36:26):
All right, we typically do this on Wednesdays at four
thirty five. We had to do some things around today,
so you're gonna hear it Thursday. We've been around five
thirty five. We talk injuries with one of the experts
from Orthos Since. The great thing about Orthos Since is
they have specialists and locations across the tri State and
they offer walkin orthopedic urgent care weekdays nine a m.

(01:36:48):
To nine pm and on Saturdays nine am to one
pm and Edgewood and Anderson learn more at Orthosinc. Dot com.
That's Ortho ci n CY dot com with us this
week is dot com. Matthew Grunckemeier. We did not have
a chance to do this segment last week, so it's
our first real chance to talk about Dax Hill, who
unfortunately is done for the season with an ACL tear.

(01:37:11):
I want to ask you this in the immediate aftermath.
I'm talking like, well, the the athlete is on the
field laying prone, perhaps is can you tell whether it's
the player is dealing with, in Daxa's case, a tear
or a stream.

Speaker 4 (01:37:27):
Yes.

Speaker 11 (01:37:28):
When you're on the field and you're doing an evaluation,
you'll sometimes see the trainer or the team doctor get
down there and they do want to assess before the
swelling sets up the knee and its stability. What the
ACL does is it stabilizes the knee so that the
shin bone can't slide too far forward on the thigh bone.

(01:37:49):
And you can see the doctors and trainers down there
examining a knee, and you can get a good exam
pretty quickly after an injury, before the adrenaline sets in
the swelling and stiffens up, so you should be able
to typically tell a sprain versus a complete tear from
your field type physical examination.

Speaker 2 (01:38:11):
On a typical for a typical injury like this, and
not that any injury is typical, but usually how soon
is surgery performed after this sort of injury.

Speaker 11 (01:38:23):
Well, it does kind of depend on the amount of
swelling and the preoperative range of motion, but probably within
a couple of weeks.

Speaker 2 (01:38:32):
Are there things that could complicate his recovery post surgery?

Speaker 11 (01:38:38):
Oh, sure, stiffness is a concern, lack of you know,
muscle strength. Rehabilitating the knee is really important. A lot
of physical therapy going to be involved.

Speaker 2 (01:38:49):
This might be a dumb question, not the first one
that I've asked. If the Bengals do what we all wish,
which is make a deep playoff run, is there any
any chance, said all, that we could even cling to
the idea that he could come back and play.

Speaker 11 (01:39:05):
I would say not. You're looking at a minimum of
six months maybe longer to get safe to turn to play,
So I would say probably count out this season, although
I've been surprised before some athletes will bounce back sooner
and be looking for next season.

Speaker 2 (01:39:23):
In the same game where Daxhill got hurt, an offensive
lineman named Jackson Kirkland also suffered an injury, a bicep
muscle tarror. Whenever I hear this sort of injury, that
just sounds and I'm not sure why relative to other injuries,
that just sounds painful. Walk us through the process of
evaluating and then ultimately diagnosing this sort of injury.

Speaker 11 (01:39:44):
Yeah, So, if the muscle is torn, it's going to
be like other muscle injuries.

Speaker 9 (01:39:52):
Something's going to be treated with time and physical.

Speaker 11 (01:39:54):
Therapy, not typically surgical. If the tendon tears off the bone,
that's a different story and there may be surgery involved
in a more prolonged rehabilitation time.

Speaker 2 (01:40:06):
All right. I also want to ask you about Aiden Hutchinson, who's,
you know, arguably right now this season at least been
the best player, best defensive player in football. They're playing
Dallas on Sunday and he suffers one of those injuries
that the TV network decides we're only showing once, and
I saw it and it was gruesome and I'm glad
they didn't show it again. So he breaks his tibia,

(01:40:29):
and we hear tibia, We hear fibula again, maybe from
my standpoint, kind of a dumb question, can you clarify
what the tibbi and phibula are.

Speaker 11 (01:40:38):
Sure the tibia is the larger of the two leg bones,
the shin bones, so to speak, and the fibula is
the smaller strut. When they both fracture, it's obviously a
highly unstable injury, and you know you can see the
leg moving around in ways that are quite unnatural. So yeah,
I think that's one of the reasons why they are

(01:41:00):
only going to show that replay once.

Speaker 2 (01:41:02):
Yeah, I'm glad they did. They perform surgery immediately after
he suffered the injury, and the lines were on the
road in Dallas. Why is it so critical with an
injury like this to get him on the operating table asap.

Speaker 11 (01:41:16):
Well, you know, you can get a lot of associated
soft tissue swelling, and because your tibia or shinbone is
so close to the skin, any type of skin tear
could lead to severe complications, could lead to excessive swelling,
which is known as compartment syndrome. So I think just

(01:41:36):
in order to prevent those potential complications, surgery is recommended
in a timely fashion. Doesn't have to be the same day,
but should be probably within the first few days.

Speaker 2 (01:41:48):
Is the fact that they were on the road and
we're going to have to travel back to Detroit. Is
that a factor in determining that they had to do
the surgery immediately?

Speaker 9 (01:41:56):
I would imagine so.

Speaker 11 (01:41:57):
And just the pain level, you know, with such an
unstable injury in a splint, it's just not going to
probably provide very much comfort for the athlete as they're
trying to travel, whether that involves planes or whatever way
they're going to travel, crutches. It's probably just way simpler

(01:42:20):
and a less painful route for him to just go
ahead and have the surgery, get the bone stabilized, usually
through a rid that goes through the center of the tibia,
and that's going to be the surgical treatment there.

Speaker 2 (01:42:35):
That injury was tough to watch, and yet you hear
about the surgery, and then he's on a team that
has a chance to play deep into the postseason. There
are reports that if the Lions made it all the
way to the Super Bowl, perhaps he could come back
and play. That seems almost improbable. Is it as improbable
as I believe?

Speaker 11 (01:42:54):
Pretty improbable? You're talking twelve weeks for the bone to heal,
but then you got muscle wasting. I wouldn't count on it.

Speaker 2 (01:43:04):
Awesome stuff, as always, do appreciate it. Doctor, thank you
so much.

Speaker 10 (01:43:07):
All right, you have a good one.

Speaker 2 (01:43:08):
That's doctor Matthew Grunkermeier from Orthos Sincy. I say this
all the time. The great thing about the people at
Orthosincy is they have specialists and locations across the tri
State that includes walkin orthopedic urgent care weekdays nine a
m To nine pm and Saturday's nine am to one
pm in Edgewood and Anderson. It's easier and definitely cheaper
than going to an er. Whenever you have an urgent

(01:43:31):
orthopedic injury, go to Orthosinc dot com. That's ortho ci
Ncy dot com.

Speaker 8 (01:43:37):
A Ohio Prime Sports has a rotten.

Speaker 2 (01:43:40):
This week's Skyline Chili Crossbound Showdown game is being called
by many names. Area high school football Anderson's eighth hosting
eight to oher win Wood. This game kicks off at
seven o'clock tomorrow night. Division one commits all over the place.
It's gonna be televised by Spectrum Sports. The man in
charge of the Skyline Chili Crossdown showdown. Is our guy

(01:44:00):
Tom Gamble nice enough to preview the game. This should
be a heck of a game tomorrow night.

Speaker 15 (01:44:05):
Yeah, it really should be mowing. It's week nine, hard
to believe in the high school season, and some people
will be going to wait a minute, wait a minute,
Wyoming's at Indian Hill, Lakota East is at Lakota West Saturday,
Lake would say, Edwards at Moler.

Speaker 10 (01:44:17):
They're right.

Speaker 15 (01:44:18):
There are some other good games, but this one, this
one is hard to ignore. I mean, these are two
teams that are both undefeated. And went Woods now which
won the twenty twenty one Division two state championship and
has competed at the Division two level. They got bumped
up this year to D one, so that'll be interesting
compostseason time. Currently in Division one Region four the regional

(01:44:40):
computer rankings, Bowler is one, went Woods is two, so
Anderson which stays two. They are in D two Region eight,
they're number one. So I mean, these two teams eight
to no overall seven to zero in the Easterncinnati Conference.
But it's it's really so dramatically different. The teams Anderson
fast paced, Evan known for offense, and they got some

(01:45:02):
really good weapons, they throw the ball all around. They're
averaging fifty one points a game. Now, some could argue
maybe a little untested. Now, they both played really the
same teams in the league for seven of the eight weeks.
Winton Woods, on the flip side, they are only They've
only given up thirty five points in eight games. I mean,
this is a defense and Wentwood's hand some outstanding defenses.

(01:45:25):
But a lot of people say.

Speaker 8 (01:45:26):
This might be the Warriors' best ever.

Speaker 15 (01:45:28):
So it's now I say that, and Anderson's allowing seven
points a game and they're winning by forty four to
forty five points a game on average, So you know,
this is god. But Winton Woods has got the great
defense upfront. In the backfield, Anderson's gonna try and throw
it and move it and all that this could be.
I think it's gonna be relatively low scoring because I think.

Speaker 9 (01:45:49):
The defenses are that good.

Speaker 15 (01:45:50):
But this has got the makings. And you know, mo,
you know how it is on any level, high school,
college or pro sometimes the build up out, you know,
far exceeds what actually occurs on the field. I don't
think that's going to be the case with this one.

Speaker 2 (01:46:03):
Here's what I want to know. To me, this is
the central storyline of this game. Can Winton Woods force
Anderson head coach Evan Dryer into a place where he
actually at least considers punting.

Speaker 15 (01:46:13):
Well, he does punt now, So it's funny you asked that,
and people when you tell him this, they go, huh No.
When he was at Western Brown and was the head coach,
he literally didn't punt. Then he went over to o'kills
and I can remember he was playing against when o'k
kill still played in the series against Elder, he didn't
punt against Elder.

Speaker 7 (01:46:30):
And I think.

Speaker 15 (01:46:30):
Over time there was this start that there was a
gentleman's name. I shouldn't know it, but he was in
Arkansas high school football. Literally this guy never punted. And
Evan will tell you it's he said, it's not an
emotional thing. It's a math equation. But I think over
time you yes that the bottom line is he will
punt against Winton Woods, because if you don't, you're you're

(01:46:52):
really in trouble. I mean, I think, and I think
the question is ken Winton Wood score enough? I mean,
I think last week they won twelve to seven over Claremont.
They won Week one, sixteen to six over Springfield, which
is a really good team, made in the state final
in the last few years at BE one, So you know,
I think that's a good but I don't know it's
gonna be. You know, they've got Justin Hill, who's an

(01:47:13):
Alabama commit. They've got Sciante Stewart in their backfield, so
Justin Hill's on an on the edge.

Speaker 10 (01:47:18):
And edge rusher.

Speaker 15 (01:47:19):
They got some other dudes too, Stuart going to Indiana.
But you know, you look at Justice Burnham, the quarterback
for Anderson. Two thousand yards passing, seventy five percent completion,
twenty seven t d's two interceptions. I mean that's unheard of.
I don't care who you're playing. They've got Cayden Pining,
who grew up in Orlando's family, moved here years ago.

(01:47:40):
He's actually committed to Central Florida. He's a tight end,
got five hundred yards receiving, A big dude, he's six five,
two thirty trace Jale who's a wide receiver, leaves the
ecc and receiving. I mean Anderson throws it, runs it.
I mean, this is one of those It could be
a lot of fun to watch, but as you well know,
many times defense Trump's offense, and I think that's what

(01:48:02):
Evan Dryer kind of put together. And he'll tell you that,
like they used to win games fifty to forty five.
Well last year they beat went Woods twenty to thirteen,
so he really he used to put all the better
dudes on the offensive side of the ball. Then he
kind of said, wait a minute, they get some guys
on defense too.

Speaker 9 (01:48:18):
Of their defense.

Speaker 15 (01:48:18):
Last year they went twelve and three, made the D
two state semi finals because they had a defense.

Speaker 2 (01:48:25):
Anderson hosting Winton Woods tomorrow night. Kickoff is at seven
h seven Skyline Chile Crosstown Showdown. A huge game between
two teams, each undefeated, handicap both. The postseason is going
to be here in a couple of weeks, handicap both
against the fields they'll be up against when the playoffs begin.

Speaker 15 (01:48:42):
Well, I think I think Winton Woods. I know there
are plenty of teams, so people say, if you're unfamiliar,
it'll be against the Molers and Saint Xavier's and Lakota
West and Princeton. You know, I think it's I think
it'll be tough if they don't get more consistent and
you had Murphy, the coach of wint Woods would tell
you that against some of those teams, Moeler has clearly been.

Speaker 8 (01:49:02):
The best all year. I mean they have, but I think.

Speaker 15 (01:49:05):
When what I guarantee you there's some coaches they're gonna go,
we don't draw wint Woods. I mean because they're athletic,
they're just you know, they got a great defense. I
think for Anderson it comes down to this. I think
it's it's you know, lethal is D two, so they
they've been one. But I think the issue I think
Anderson is good enough. Now anything can happen, as you
will know, but I think they're good enough to make

(01:49:27):
it like they did last year. I think the problem
at D two is Maslyn Washington and Archbishop Hope and
out of Akron. Those are the ones that you know,
you look and you go other records not as good
as Anderson.

Speaker 8 (01:49:38):
Well that's because of who they played.

Speaker 15 (01:49:40):
And Maslin Washington won the state last year. I mean
that those are teams. So I think can Anderson win
the region absolutely, ken Winton Woods win the region, they can,
but I think it'll be a little bit more difficult
at D one because of Molar. I think more in
Lakota West and and maybe Princeton West has been pretty
darn good to it's Tom Bolden, and you know, I

(01:50:02):
think somebody, yes Anderson, I would expect him to win
the region. Went Woods could get there, but it'll be
a little bit more difficult.

Speaker 2 (01:50:09):
At D one seven oh seven tomorrow night, Anderson hosting
Winton Wood's Skyline Chile Crosstown Showdown. We're nearing the end
of the season. How is this year gone?

Speaker 15 (01:50:20):
It's been awesome we've had and you know, you know,
one of the toughest thing for me is I picked
these games prior to the season starting, so as you
well know, you know, we've all prognosticated things that would
have i mean, right, New England Cincinnati week one, is
that right? Well maybe yeah, So you don't know. But
we've had some great games. I mean, for Moeler Princeton
week one, we had you know, Harrison East, Central, Cooper

(01:50:43):
Ryle one score games. I mean, we've had some really
good Cufcat, beach Wood. So yeah, it's it's been really
really good and it's been a lot of fun. I mean,
we've had, you know, some really good games, and there
are just so many as you, well know, there are
just so many good football players in this area that
you watch on Saturdays, and you even watch on Sundays,
and you'll see a lot of them, right, And that's

(01:51:03):
so that's what makes it so good. They're just so
many good programs. And now I will tell you I
think across the board football is in an interesting kind
of crossroads here because if you look at some of
the scores in northern Kentucky and in Greater Cincinnati, Man,
there are some teams this year getting drilled. I mean,
there's a lot of disparity from top to bottom, and

(01:51:24):
I think a lot of people are kind of wondering
what's going on. Fewer kids playing, you know, why is
there so much disparity. It's going to be an interesting discussion,
I think in the off season, because all you have
to do is get on a scoreboard on a Friday
night or a Saturday morning and just look at how
many fifty four to sevens there are. And that is
kind of interesting and quite frankly for those who are

(01:51:46):
into the sport, a little bit alarming.

Speaker 2 (01:51:49):
Yeah, it's interesting because I watch I watched the Fox
nineteen show on Friday nights. I think they do a
great job and they bounce around a hand job. It's awesome.
But I've talked about this with Joe Daniman. I noticed
there are a lot of games where I'll get a
highlighter two because they've got a bounce around, right, and
I'll get a highlighter two and it'll look like the
game was really competitive, and then they'll flash the graphic

(01:52:10):
and it was, you know, sixty three ten. And I
said to them, it feels like there's a lot more
of these this year and than we we've we've had
in the past.

Speaker 15 (01:52:18):
Oh, it doesn't feel like it is.

Speaker 2 (01:52:20):
I mean that there are and I.

Speaker 15 (01:52:21):
Think, and I think if you look at if you
go conference to conference and you look at and I'm
gonna use two examples, I'll use Cole Rane and Sycamore
right in the Greater Miami Conference. I mean Cole Raine,
which tomorrow night celebrates it's two thousand and four state
championship team at the D one level on r Kerry
cons one of the best high school football teams ever.

(01:52:44):
Cole Rane for the second straight year, is not likely
to win a game. They've got Hamilton, then they've got Princeton.
I mean, think about that Cole rane O and ten
oh and ten twenty. They if they lose the final two,
they'll have a twenty two game losing streak. Cole Raine.
We're talking about in Sycamore, Scott at Tillo, great coach,
great football coach. Sycamore has just been I mean their

(01:53:05):
win one this year is against col Rain. They struggled
last year. I mean, I just I don't know. I mean,
you could say public schools, it's a little more cyclical.

Speaker 7 (01:53:14):
It is.

Speaker 15 (01:53:15):
You get good classes and you have thin classes young,
whatever the case may be. But no, you're not noting.
What you're noticing is real. There are some really really
struggling football programs and I don't know how you turn
that bus around. And I think one of the things
is open enrollments, right, I mean, and we live and
don't forget transport portal at the college level, right, I'm

(01:53:36):
not playing here. I want to go there. I don't
like this coach. I want that I got a better
chance to win here, get better stats. You don't think
that's trickling down to high schools.

Speaker 2 (01:53:44):
So you got it.

Speaker 15 (01:53:45):
You got a really good kid at a school that's struggling,
and he goes wait, a minute.

Speaker 9 (01:53:49):
That's over.

Speaker 15 (01:53:49):
I can go there.

Speaker 9 (01:53:51):
I'm going there.

Speaker 15 (01:53:52):
I mean, that's that's That's a large part of it too.
Open enrollment has dramatically changed where we are in high
school football.

Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
Tomorrow night, seven o'clock Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown, Anderson eight
and O hosting Wittenwood's eight to No. It's going to
be a blast if you can't get there. The game
is being televised on Spectrum Sports. Tom Gamble always good
to have you, man, Thank you so much.

Speaker 15 (01:54:13):
You got him on. You can follow along on x
at Xtown Showdown. We'll have videos and we'll have you
covered all night long. Appreciate the time, O.

Speaker 9 (01:54:20):
I have a great day.

Speaker 2 (01:54:21):
All right, good stuff. Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown, the premiere
high school football event in the United States of America.
We are done, gotta go. We are at Dickman's on
Sunday for the Bengals game. We hope to see you there.
I'll be on Tomorrow night before the UC broadcast from
fifth third Cincinnati, hosting Ohio State. I'll be on at

(01:54:43):
six o'clock from the Arena for Lance McAllister, Tony and
Mo Football Show at twin peaks in Westchester on Monday.
We have to go. Have a great weekend. Thanks to
Tarran for producing, Thanks to you for listening. This has
been the Ortho Sincy Moegger Show on ESPN fifteen thirty
