Speaker 1 (00:01):
No one covers the Bengals like ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's
sports station.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Here we go, The Mowegar Show Cincinnati is ESPN fifteen thirty.
I'm Chad Brindle and for Moegar, I'm having a better
day than mo so, you know, thank you for choosing me.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
I'm still trying tearing.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
I'm still trying to like clear the vibes in this room,
angry in here for.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
The past couple hours. I'm changing the move. You think
Tony's okay? I hope.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
So it didn't seem okay. It's Pike to Bensday. You
think he would be happy. He talked to armand his
mood stunk today, Tarren.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Change it to happy Jake Rogers Day.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Jake did make the extra point that decided the game, right,
maybe that should be more celebrated. Happy Jake Rogers' Day.
Oh boy, just trying to shake it off like he
had me a little rattled. He didn't even want a
chicken wing. I tried to, you know, I called one
(01:41):
of his old teammates. I had one of his old
teammates say hi to him. He snapped at him, snapped
at Austin A couple of times and then he went
off the air. Tarn I walked into this room like
what maybe twenty seconds after he was off the air gone,
did he stop in and say anything to you guys?
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Or he had straight for the door?
Speaker 4 (02:03):
He say he did say by to me, Okay, okay,
not Audi though now he found Austin Hippy.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
I must have walked the other way. That's what it
had to be. Hopp.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
He piked a Bensday everybody. He said, it's the last
one he's ever celebrating. Why because fifteen years, fifteen years,
jays he's retiring it after fifteen years.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
And then he was reason will carry on the legacy
when ton He's gone.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
He responded to me on Twitter, I said the final
pike to Bensday and he said, could be. Oh boy, Well,
at least it was fun behind the scenes before the show. Today,
it's quite entertaining. I missed the Christmas party yesterday.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
How was it better this year? That's good? That's good,
and it seemed okay last year one bad? A lot
more people. Yeah, I'm glad I wasn't here. Then, really,
I'm not a people person.
Speaker 5 (03:07):
Stop it.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Everyone loves you.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah, yeah, that's a that's that's definitely true. Oh, we
got a lot to get to today filling in form o. Uh,
he'll be back, He'll be back by Monday, right, Do
you think he should be recovered by then? Hopefully?
Speaker 6 (03:32):
Uh, we will.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
We will hear from Zach Taylor. He already he spoke
to the media earlier today, So we'll have that for
you later in the show. As the Bengals get ready
to take on the Cowboys. It's a Monday night game,
so the weekly schedule everything is is pushed back a day.
So Zach Taylor and Joe Burrows speaking to the media today.
(03:53):
Uh so we will have both of those for you.
Will have Joe live uh here shortly as he he
addresses the media. I'm sure people ask him about the batmobile.
I mean, look, I've seen people giving him a hard
time for that. If I had enough money, if you
had enough money to buy the batmobile, would you buy
the batmobile?
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Taran, do you want to hear Joe Burrow? Joe Burrows early,
he's early, Yeah, he's one. Now, all right, let's go
to Joe Burrow then.
Speaker 6 (04:25):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 7 (04:27):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (04:27):
I was always an X X men guy. Shit, No,
they don't make that ship. I don't know who my
favorite one is.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
The internet says it's not street.
Speaker 8 (04:40):
Legal again, I don't know what's talking about.
Speaker 9 (04:45):
What's the coolest car?
Speaker 10 (04:49):
You're just gonna dance around.
Speaker 11 (04:50):
I'm really only driven my cars. I wouldn't say I'm
driven anything crazy if driven about yet?
Speaker 3 (04:58):
No, did you watch the episode?
Speaker 12 (05:02):
I did not, So did people start hitting you up
about this potential theoretical battlebile?
Speaker 5 (05:09):
No?
Speaker 7 (05:09):
Not really?
Speaker 5 (05:11):
Why does it take a year?
Speaker 8 (05:17):
I don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker 13 (05:21):
How Puny Higgins coming up bats two level?
Speaker 8 (05:26):
That would be pretty funny.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
I'd pay see that.
Speaker 6 (05:30):
It's okay to ask you.
Speaker 8 (05:31):
Football, Yes, please, that'd be great.
Speaker 5 (05:35):
Dallas's uh defense?
Speaker 12 (05:37):
Any does it remind you of Zimmer from Minnesota at
all or doing the style of being.
Speaker 11 (05:42):
In Yeah, they're doing their pressure packages advance, so you
gotta be ready for that on third down.
Speaker 8 (05:50):
I got Michaeh.
Speaker 11 (05:50):
Parsons. He's unbelievable player. You gotta be ready for for
him and and not let him wreck the game. You know,
they're getting their corners back healthy, so those guys are
aggressive ballhawks. They want to go get the ball, so
you gotta be aware of them to jump routes.
Speaker 8 (06:12):
You know it'll be a challenge.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
Joe, did you see the.
Speaker 12 (06:15):
Trevor Lawrence slide hit situation that happened in Jacksonville.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
What's your opinion on on sliding and do you feel
that there needs to be more clarity in that rule
in that situation for quarterbacks to make sure that type
of stuff doesn't happen, whether it's avoiding.
Speaker 10 (06:31):
Fake slides or things like that. You feel like there's
enough clarity in what that is with the in the
league right now.
Speaker 8 (06:38):
I think so.
Speaker 11 (06:46):
You know there's time so you can and you don't
want to late slide, and I think rest have done
a good job of When quarterbacks do late slide, then
you know if you get hit, that's on you. I
don't I wouldn't say I've studied that play enough to
know whether that was a late slide or not.
Speaker 8 (07:09):
Didn't look like it at first glance.
Speaker 11 (07:11):
I didn't watch it a ton, but you know, refs
have come to me and said on certain onesday that
was too late.
Speaker 8 (07:19):
And that's why they didn't call it.
Speaker 11 (07:20):
And all we want is communication from from the refs,
and I think they've done a good job of that.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
What's your biggest worry if you're going to slide?
Speaker 10 (07:30):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Do you worry about taking hits when you're trying to
go down like that?
Speaker 6 (07:34):
Do you ever worry about that?
Speaker 10 (07:36):
Or mm?
Speaker 11 (07:37):
I used to, but I wouldn't. I wouldn't say that
I worry about that too much. I think that's the
first time that something like that has happened in in
several years. And you know, they suspended him, they threw flags,
the ejected him. So I think the point was made.
Speaker 14 (07:57):
When you're taking off out of the pocket as a quarterback,
are you even thinking about that? Because there must be
so many different variables.
Speaker 10 (08:04):
Going through your head.
Speaker 8 (08:05):
Well, it depends on the situation. Is it third down?
I'm gonna try to go get it?
Speaker 10 (08:12):
Is it?
Speaker 11 (08:13):
Do I already have the first down and now I'm
just trying to protect myself? Am I trying to make
a plane outside the structure and and throw the ball?
Usually when I don't feel like I have anywhere else
to go, I I slide and get down.
Speaker 10 (08:30):
I don't remember many Jo touchdown passes are you? Are
you done any of those?
Speaker 8 (08:35):
That was the first one.
Speaker 11 (08:36):
I don't know where it came from, but it happened.
I feel like that was the only way I could
get that ball off. And it's not something that I've
really worked on, but you know I did it two
or three times uh on Sundays.
Speaker 8 (08:50):
So I'll have to start working at it to to improve.
Speaker 11 (08:53):
Do you want to describe a feeling when you're realizing
completed amar and just did something you.
Speaker 8 (08:58):
Haven't done before that that was just I think I
just said that was freaking sick. I didn't know, didn't
know I had that one an me?
Speaker 10 (09:06):
So what did ninety said?
Speaker 8 (09:07):
It would say a gad No, I ain't never says
anything to anybody.
Speaker 15 (09:12):
Since we're talking about quarterbacks taking hits.
Speaker 10 (09:15):
Uh.
Speaker 15 (09:16):
The topic of the run game and the Bengals has
has come up again, kind of based how your season
is going. When you look around at some of the
teams that are definitely headed to the playoffs, majority of
them rank in the top ten in the run game.
Knowing you and the best way this offense has played
(09:38):
is obviously fall in your hands and receivers that you have,
it brings up the question of like, what does.
Speaker 16 (09:44):
The Bengals run game need to be because you know
there's a balance of taking it out of your hands
for you. Do you think your run game needs to
be better than it has been in years passage?
Speaker 3 (09:54):
Do you think you meet you guys need.
Speaker 16 (09:56):
More from that or are you comfortable with where this
game and the production in the run game.
Speaker 11 (10:02):
I think we've been really good in spots. I think
we were good on Sunday. You know, I think we've
been in some games that you can't commit to the
run because of how the game is playing out and
you have to drop back and throw it. You know,
first half of the year we're really good. We fell
off there for a little bit. Who'd we play two
weeks ago Chargers Chargers? I don't think we're great in
(10:28):
that game, but I think we were really good on
Sunday in the Run game. We had some explosives, traces,
running hard, we were finding gaps, you know, just the
way the game played played out, we weren't able to
commit to it. And so we've been good in spots,
and we haven't been good enough in spots. So I
think you'd like to see more consistency. But you know,
you can see where the production could be, and so
(10:52):
you know, it's about finding the finding the consistency in
what we did on Sunday and just translating that over
or from from game to game play play.
Speaker 16 (11:01):
Why do you think it hasn't been consistent.
Speaker 10 (11:04):
Off this year?
Speaker 6 (11:07):
I don't know. I think.
Speaker 11 (11:10):
You know, when we lost Eric, that was tough because
he was our our second tight end or you know,
we're using him like a full back and that you know,
created some some mismatches for us in the in the scheme,
and you know, we lost him and so we weren't
doing as much of that, and you know a lot
of a lot of our really good run plays, we're
(11:33):
coming off of those those sets, and so I think
it took us a second, and you know, we're back
to eleven personnel run game and then Cam Grandy is
filling that Eric All role and you know, we hit
some really good twelve personnel runs on Sunday and so
it's nice to see Cam fill that role.
Speaker 8 (11:52):
So I think you'll see his role start to evolve
a little bit this year.
Speaker 11 (11:58):
And I think again, we found ourselves in in games
where you can't you know, there's no time to run
the ball and you got to drop back and throw
it based on how the opposing offense is playing.
Speaker 8 (12:11):
You think it's the best stretch.
Speaker 11 (12:12):
When you look at November individually, your career show.
Speaker 10 (12:15):
In the regular season.
Speaker 11 (12:20):
Mm hmm. That's that's tough to say. I think overall
this year has been my best year. I think I've
been play to play, you know, better than I've ever been.
Speaker 8 (12:33):
I think I'm creating better than I ever have. So
I'm I'm happy with with with how I'm playing.
Speaker 10 (12:39):
Why is it a physical thing or is it what
you're seeing a game differently or.
Speaker 6 (12:45):
Just experience.
Speaker 11 (12:47):
I think experience. I think you know, my my wrist
is feeling good right now. You know that's improved throughout
the season. You know, I wasn't throwing it quite the
way that that I wanted to early in the year,
and that's improved, and I'm starting to be able to
(13:07):
you know, I didn't earlier in the year. I didn't
throw a ton on the run. I wasn't doing all
my different arm angles. And as my risk has improved,
I've been able to expand that part of my game.
I think I'm working on it more than I ever
have throughout practice, and so I think that's translating to
on field success in that department.
Speaker 12 (13:25):
Joe Zach has already said to us a couple of
times this week. That feels like kind of the spectacle
of Monday night football is a good opportunity for you
guys to showcase what you're all about at this stage
in the season at four and eight. Does a Monday
night game versus a one pm Sunday kickoff?
Speaker 6 (13:44):
Does that move the meter for you guys at all?
Speaker 11 (13:46):
I always like playing on primetime. No, I like showcasing
my abilities and hard work and putting that on display,
you know, in front of the world. So it's always
an exciting opportunity. And you know, I think whether you
like it or not, how you perform on primetime games
(14:09):
matters as far as perception across the league.
Speaker 8 (14:13):
That's when people watch.
Speaker 11 (14:14):
That's you know, when the m the most people pay attention,
and so you have to be consistent. But you know,
I think if you per perform great on on primetime nights,
then you you start to get a a little different
reputation across the league.
Speaker 17 (14:27):
YEA, do you do you.
Speaker 13 (14:28):
Feel like er let me ask you, like a what
impression would you want to give to the viewing audience
for a national TV game at this stage? What like,
what do you guys hang your hat. So I'm at
this point, then what would you wanna do? What of
that would you want to convey to America?
Speaker 11 (14:45):
Well, I wanna win, but I wanna be fun to watch.
I always wanna be fun to watch, you know. I
want people to to see my my command of the
offense and accuracy and playmaking ability and and everything that
I bring to the table.
Speaker 8 (15:00):
But you know, I want people to tune into the
to the Bengals and want to want to watch us.
Speaker 11 (15:08):
And you know, I think people do you know I
take pride in in the fact that we're exciting.
Speaker 8 (15:15):
I'm exciting to watch. That's something that I take pride in.
Speaker 18 (15:19):
Is there anybody you would jo that you would enjoy
that you sid he said, want you when you were
a kid or when you no, I you.
Speaker 10 (15:25):
Wanna make sure you will fight?
Speaker 6 (15:26):
You want to turn Eaves or anybody.
Speaker 5 (15:28):
You know you wanted us.
Speaker 8 (15:30):
I always wanted to watch Aaron Rodgers. No, he was
always I was always tuning in when he was playing.
Speaker 11 (15:37):
Uh, Tom Brady, obviously, Payne Manning, watched Drew Brees.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
You know, those those caliber of players or.
Speaker 8 (15:48):
Usually the the types of players that get the most
primetime games.
Speaker 11 (15:51):
And so you're you're seeing them the most, and it's.
Speaker 8 (15:55):
Just always nice to you know.
Speaker 11 (15:58):
We've had we've had six now, and so that usually
means that people want to want to watch it.
Speaker 8 (16:03):
That's usually a good thing.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
All right, there you go. Joe burrow In no comment
on the batmobile Tarn. I guess he's probably the guy.
It sounds like he's not allowed to own it.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
It's not street legal.
Speaker 6 (16:19):
Right.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Oh, all right, let's take a break. You wanna, Yeah,
we'll talk.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
We'll talk about it in the in the break more
after this, we'll get this show rolling. Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnatis.
We're back, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty. Chad Brendle infromo Eggar Today.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Are we doing this all day? Tea?
Speaker 4 (16:55):
No, no, no, someone has talked to me, so I
didn't have time to get my stuff ready.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Okay, I mean I'm gonna put a bear trap outside
that door. The music is like they got to know
the music is number one and they come second. Calm down, sheriff,
leave Teyarn alone. A couple of things to get to
(17:20):
Newsworthy today. Linebacker Logan Wilson had a surgical cleanup on
his knee. According to Mike Garoffalo, that is going to
sideline him for the rest of the season.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
Say what you.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Will, he was one of the better players on what
has been a struggling defense.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
Take him out of the mix.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
Evan McPherson as came out yesterday, also out for the
remainder of the year. Zach Taylor earlier today. We will
hear from him later, said Orlando Brown. Doubtful from Monday.
So it's, uh, the injuries are piling up pretty quick
(18:06):
right now for the Cincinnati Bengals, And I mean, I
guess it's a situation where they're no longer really in
playoff contention. I mean they're what three percent chance to
get to the playoffs? That is that's not ideal. No,
And uh, you're gonna start seeing some business decisions made,
right Can you wait out a knee a couple of
(18:29):
weeks and see how it goes, or do you have
the surgery now and bag the rest of the season
and kind of get started in the off season program
for next year, Which brings up an interesting topic that
we're going to get to, Like, is this is this
thing salvageable the rest of the year? Is it worth
(18:49):
salvaging or is it time to start looking forward?
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Time for the Tea higgainst farewell tour.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
And I think the worst thing that can happen now
is this team goes like seven to ten, eight and
nine and you end up in the middle of the draft.
You don't have a lot of draft capital. You're kind
of spinning your wheels. I think you're not in playoff contention,
(19:21):
but you're not in contention to get a top draft pick.
You're not in that place where the Bengals have had
success in the draft. Like, the argument becomes, is it
time to go young?
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Is it time.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
To set the sights on what comes next and write
this thing off as Look, we had a couple of
great years, we had an injury year for our quarterback.
We had a bad year, and this team needs to retool,
needs to restructure because the core of that team that
took them to the Super Bowl and to the AFC
(19:56):
Championship Game, outside of mainly burrowing Chase, it's time to
start looking at another team. It's time to start figuring
out what the next iteration of that looks like. Other
teams have been able to do it. We're about to
find out here over the next twelve months or so,
(20:18):
can the Bengals do it as well? Lee Sterling from
the Paramount Sports Network Coming up next, This is The
Moegger Show, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
Thirty Cincinnati's esp.
Speaker 19 (20:39):
Here.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
We go rolling right along our first guest of the day,
none other than our guy, Lee Sterling from Paramount Sports
Paramount Sportsnetwork dot com.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Lee, how's it going, my friend?
Speaker 19 (20:50):
I'm good. I'm good. Can't complain.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
If there was one movie item. Joe Burrow apparently owns
a batmobile, there's one movie item you had unlimited fun
to purchase?
Speaker 3 (21:00):
What would it be?
Speaker 19 (21:04):
One movie? I am wow.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
No, it's a good one, isn't it.
Speaker 19 (21:07):
Probably some stuff from the original Gladiator.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Okay, that's a good one.
Speaker 19 (21:12):
Maybe something I don't know if there's any particular thing.
Maybe something from Shawshank Redemption. So two of my favorite movies.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
That's very good. I was always a big fan of
Lean On Me with Morgan Freeman. I'd take the megaphone,
Morgan Freeman's megaphone and lean on Me. I like being
obscure with Like the batmobile is going to be expensive, right, broh?
Speaker 19 (21:35):
Yeah, I am a little out of our legs.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
I imagine I could afford the megaphone from lean on me.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
I think I could make that swing that.
Speaker 19 (21:42):
Maybe maybe not not if you've been betting on the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
If you've been betting against the Bengals.
Speaker 19 (21:49):
Yeah, you might be able to different.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
You actually might be able to get a batmobile.
Speaker 19 (21:54):
How about this said, If let's say you were a
fan of University Miami watching their events on Saturdays and
then on Sundays, can you imagine the heartache you'd be
going through?
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Well, I cover you see, and so you know I've
got an idea. At least, let's get to it. Big
twelve Championship game, Arizona State minus two over Iowa State.
Arizona State down their leading receiver, Iowa State, great past defense.
(22:27):
Where are you going on this one? I I went
Iowa State last night. I'm interested to see what you said.
Speaker 19 (22:33):
So this was a tough game, and I think the
difference might be Jordan Tyson. I mean, how do you
replace seventy five receptions yea and eleven yards and ten
touchdowns in college fall? Pretty tough? So Also, what's interesting?
I have different colored markers, so I mark games and
I can't you know, write notes on one sheet going
(22:54):
down the entire ledger. What I do is I have
different colored markers for different things. And it's interesting. Arizona
State played a lot of teams when those teams weren't
in a good place mentally or they had a key
injury let's say a starting quarterback. And also their two
losses were on the road. Iowa State played last six
(23:16):
opponents teams that were actually in pretty good places mentally
and played well. Also, what's crazy is the last six
games they played they played in cold weather for in Iowa,
Kansas City, and at Utah. I think they've they've started
to regain that early season mojo Ioway State strength to
throw in the football with rock Leebec versus Arizona State's
(23:38):
past defense, which is weak number seventy five in the country.
These two receivers, Jayden Higgins and Jalen Noel really good
fifteen combined touchdowns. What's craziest I saw this kid, Jayden
and Higgins play basketball like three years ago high school
Westminster Christian where a Rod went to high school. I
saw him play basketball. I never saw him play football.
(23:58):
Watched the games, watching the Friend of Mind playing another
team against him, like this kid is is really athletic,
didn't know we played football and anything like that, and
goes to Iowa State.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
And they're both they're both excellent.
Speaker 19 (24:11):
Yeah, both excellent. Iowa State also first time as adult
since Week two, and they won that game against Iowa
as we remember. I like Iowa State here thirty to
twenty six.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
I did too with Tyson. I might have a different
vibe on this, but that Iowa State pass defense is
so outstanding. Yeah, I don't think cam Stato can do it.
Speaker 19 (24:30):
They haven't faced a three three five defense.
Speaker 6 (24:32):
Also, Yeah, some statement.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
And that three high safety look is confusing. Big Ten
Championship Oregon minus three versus Penn State. Is Oregon the
least talked about undefeated, number one team in the country
we've ever seen.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
Nobody is talking about Oregon.
Speaker 19 (24:50):
I agree, Well, you know, there may not be any
great team sure, so maybe that's why there's a couple
of problems here for Oregon. They gotta go cross country again.
We remember that game against Wisconsin. I don't think they're
gonna play that poorly, but it's tough. I mean, look
in the Big Ten, that's happened both ways. Penn State
wasn't even expecting to be in this game. They had
(25:11):
to be shocked that they're here. There's no pressure. They
were gonna be five or six without it. Even if
they lose, they're probably gonna be sitting five, six or seven.
So I think the pressure's off. James Franklin, I know
he's won in sixteen straight up five and twelve against
the spread versus top five opponents. How about this. Their
running offense, their run defense in the pass defense rank
(25:34):
higher than Oregon's here. This mine should be Oregon minus one,
not three and a half here. I think the Ducks
are out of water in Indy. I'm taking Penn State
long team favorite twenty seven twenty three.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Yeah, James Franklin, that that one's still scares, really still
scares in a game like that.
Speaker 6 (25:50):
If there was ever a time, Yeah, this is it.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Yeah, They're they're.
Speaker 19 (25:54):
Gonna have four. They're gonna have forty of the fifty
five thousand fans.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Yeah they aren't four, right?
Speaker 19 (25:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
The Bengals Monday Night versus Dallas, the Simpsons game. It's
the only reason this game is still on Monday Night.
How in the world are the Bengals favored plus favored
by five. I don't understand. Explain it to me, all.
Speaker 19 (26:13):
Right, Cowboys fans and smart NFL betters, I think they're
going to feel a quote unquote rush of nostalgia here
for this matchup. Remember September eighteen, twenty twenty two, was
current Dallas Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush second NFL start in
relief of Dak Prescott in the same very building, and
(26:36):
the Cowboys came out on top of twenty to seventeen
as a plus seven and a half point underdog. Both
teams we're headed to the playoffs that season. Both teams
are currently headed the other the other way Dark Corners
after January fifth. Here, I think since he escapes twenty
(26:57):
eight twenty five, I think you take the.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Points, okay, and then your free play. Thursday night has
been known for stinkers. Thursday Night's kind of been on
a roll.
Speaker 10 (27:06):
Yeah, Detroit, it's been good.
Speaker 19 (27:09):
How about I mean, this is one of maybe one
of the top five to six games of the year
and it's on Thursday Night. Now, Detroit's without a bunch
of players tonight. Green Bay's got to go on the
road and haven't had as much success. So anyone wants
to get it for free. First five callers called eight
hundred four hundred nine seven four one. First five callers
will give them Detroit and Green Bay eight hundred, four
(27:30):
hundred nine seven for one. How about this After a
tough couple weeks to start in November, we went fifteen
and three from Thanksgiving Day all the way through Monday night,
so we are on a roll again. Decembers usually are great.
We call it double Down December. You can get every
game through December thirty first use coupon code save two hundred,
(27:50):
just two hundred and forty seven dollars. So if you
think these Cyber Monday or Black Friday sales are big,
this is even bigger. Or you can get from now
to the super Bowl normally six forty seven. Use coupont
code saved three hundred, just three hundred and forty seven dollars.
One place, Paramount sports dot Com.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Thanks, Ley, appreciate it. We will talk soon.
Speaker 19 (28:12):
Okay, sounds good.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
Shitch All right, there you go, Lee Sterling, Paramount Sports
dot Com.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
It's a big deal. It's a big deal. They were
two and one last week. Tarin I can't take James
Franklin in a big game. I get what he's saying.
I understand it. Oh that's a tough call. You gotta
be ANX. You got to you gotta have some stones
to pull the trigger on that one. All right, let's
(28:39):
take a break. Jeff Car locked on Red's Jeff with
three f's coming up next since he's ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
There's no gift that is not enough, is not enough,
but it's not enough. You better lease. But it's not enough, but.
Speaker 19 (28:59):
It's not enough.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
I mean so good tern.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
Hey, Luthor might be my favorite song in the last
like ten years.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
Yeah, Luther, I mean just.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Like an old school throwback to like what R and B,
like that mix of R and B and hip hop
like should be.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
I'm trying to buy a ticket to go seeing before
just to see that song.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
So Kelsey asked me today there were gonna go see
Kendrick and Sissa, and I was like, maybe, so maybe
you can all go together, Me, you and kels we'll go.
We'll go see Kendrick and Sizza. I mean, are you
what do you think about Let's get to Jeff Car.
We'll talk about this later. There's supposed to be another
(29:48):
album coming, right, you know that.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
I know. Okay, Jeff F F Car are you a
big k do guy?
Speaker 6 (29:56):
They're opening for Creed next year? Right? No?
Speaker 3 (29:59):
No, yeah, Kendrake, it's Ken Drake, Sizza and Creed.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
They'll be playing at Bogart's.
Speaker 6 (30:07):
They can take me higher.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Jeff Carr locked on Reds. Jeff with three s, Jeff
F F Carr. Uh, Jeff, I'm gonna talk about this
a little later. I'm gonna start off here. Can the Bengals?
Can the Reds steal the winter from the Bengals?
Speaker 6 (30:26):
I think they may already be doing so. I mean,
Francona himself was already a big get. And then you
bring back Nick Martinez, you shore up the rotation with
Brady Singer, and then Nick Kroll is still talking to
Mark Sheldon saying, yeah, we got financial flexibility after all
of that. I mean, it's I mean, I'm kind of
(30:47):
fired up. I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Garrett Crochet, what is your the White Sox ace the
Reds have been rumored to be in contention. What is
your read on that situation? Do you think it's pop
and would you like it if it happened?
Speaker 6 (31:03):
I am happy that they are involved in these rumors.
I don't know that I'm all in on this one though.
This is one of those that Garrett Crochet was really
really good last year, but if you look beyond last year,
his track record is that of injuries and relief pitching.
Because before twenty twenty four he had seventy three career innings,
(31:25):
and even last year he made thirty two starts but
averaged less than five innings per start. His stuff is elite,
and if he can continue and maybe add that longevity
this year, then he'll be almost untradable next year because
he will be a bona fide ace. So this is
the time to go get him. But even still, I
(31:46):
believe that the trade package to acquire him is kind
of one of those that it feels like a finishing
move for the offseason. It feels like the kind of
thing you do and then you don't have a whole
lot of flexibility other than to sign for the agents
after that, and and it would make the starting rotation
look really, really good. I just think that it would
cost too much as far as the trade package goes.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
And Jeff, we've talked about this in the past, Like
my biggest concern still even with singers, still with this rotation,
very few guys have ever even gotten close to one
hundred and fifty innings in a season, right, and you
bring Crochet in and all of a sudden, like that's
another guy on that list that doesn't have a great
history of getting to I know, we always like two
(32:32):
hundred is the number that was always kind of etched
in our brains growing up.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
Is it down to one seventy five?
Speaker 5 (32:39):
Now?
Speaker 2 (32:39):
Do I need to readjust that number because they're they're
throwing less innings.
Speaker 6 (32:43):
I kind of feel like one seventy five one eighty
is the is kind of the range. Like Bronson Arroyo,
the way that he pitched, it's just not the way
that most guys pitch it, right. They come in like
Graham Ashcraft with maximum effort and that that's kind of
one of those things that I'm like, man, you really
got to figure out how to pitch at eighty five percent,
(33:05):
because we've got a lot of guys that believe they
can go one hundred and ten percent in the second
ending with one out and nobody on. It's like, you
just don't need to do that. You need to be
able to get to the sixth inning at the very least,
if not get through the sixth the inning, and that's
just not happening nowadays. I think one seventy five to
one eighties probably the solid expectation. But think of that.
(33:26):
I mean, Hunter Green got the one hundred and fifty.
Nobody else got close to him. Yeah, I mean, you know,
Nick Martinez was close ish, but even Garrett Crochet through
only one hundred and forty six inventis last year. So
that's that's really tough. And I'm so glad they got
Brady Singer because You're right, they don't have those guys
that have a track record. There's a lot of hope,
(33:48):
but not a lot of have done sort of.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Guys, what's the hope in one hand and poop in
the other and see which one fills up first.
Speaker 6 (33:57):
Well, and hope's been a strategy for this team for
far too long since I'm glad that they at least
got somebody that we like. Okay, he's done it before.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
If you worry about the innings count and you wonder
can they take him higher?
Speaker 6 (34:11):
You know, we're six feet close to the edge, and
I'm thinking the sixth week might not be too far
but I just want there to be stress relief from
this bullpen, because the bullpen has been good, but it's
been overused each of the last two seasons. And while
I think Terry Francon is going to bring a different
perspective on that, if he's in August and his entire
(34:33):
starting rotation from opening day is off the roster on
the injured list, then he's gonna have to do what
he's gonna have to do.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Jesse Winker, no, not even as like a fourth or
fifth outfielder.
Speaker 6 (34:48):
Fourth or fifth maybe, but I mean, he still can't
hit lefties, and he still defends horribly. But then what
do you do with Candelario? Fire him into the sun?
There's just so many dhs here, are right? And then
you got Spencer Steer where it's like his best decision
(35:11):
is second base, but he's not gonna play second base,
so what of it then? And he doesn't seem to
play left field very.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Well, and right he's probably age.
Speaker 6 (35:23):
What's what's that look like? What's noelvi Marta look like?
You know, is Tylers team is going to catch one
hundred and sixty two days, Like that's not gonna happen.
So the DH kind of needs to be reserved just
for that extra off day. Again, I think I don't
know that we can have a legit DH only, or
at least DH mainstay kind of guy, and so I
(35:46):
need some defense man. This outfield defense was hor yeahre
so to kind of turn a blind eye again to
that this offseason seems really foolish.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
Who is this team's golden batter? Is it Elie.
Speaker 7 (36:00):
See?
Speaker 6 (36:01):
I was thinking about that the other day. It is
he that him? Or Tyler Stevens.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
That's what I'm here for. I'm here to ask the
tough questions.
Speaker 6 (36:06):
I think in most cases I want Tyler Stevens. But
I don't want this rule.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
I don't nobody wants this rule. It's awful.
Speaker 6 (36:12):
It's awful, it's horrible. I love the charm of It's
the ninth inning, the basis the love of this. Two
outs and you got your number eight hitter up, and
it's time for him to put up or shut up.
I mean, he's a professional for a reason. It's not
so that he can stand in and then say, wait
a minute, hang on, I got my my golden ticket
(36:33):
that I can play. Let me here. I want to
I want to put in Tyler Stevenson, let's let's hit him.
Plus this this takes I just I don't love it
because it takes away from the team aspect. You know,
you put the onus on the individual rather than the team.
There's so much about it that I really hope this
was just like, hey, let's drop this in the bucket
and see what happens. Because nobody likes this rule, I'm
(36:55):
with you there.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Yeah, everybody basically just threw up all over it, like
this is the grosses. You think the ghost Runner was bad,
this is even a million times worse. And I think
the ghost Runner is bad. I get it.
Speaker 6 (37:08):
I don't like it. It's like my co host Steve said,
He's just like what what then, Like, are we gonna
come out with a rule where, you know, if the
Reds are playing the Yankees, Terry Frank coone can go
out to the umpires say all right, Aaron Judge is
hitting for us, and the next.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
That, yeah, can you use the other team's best player
for your golden batter?
Speaker 6 (37:26):
Yeah, now you gotta change out your picture to somebody
who's not warmed up.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Now that would be fun, Like if you just okay,
your best guy gets to come hit for me, but
then he would probably strike out on purpose.
Speaker 6 (37:39):
Right, Yeah, we're two steps away from turning baseball into UNO.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
The reverse card, the skip? Could you skip a guy?
Speaker 6 (37:51):
You don't get the bat Ellie this round?
Speaker 2 (37:54):
The manager comes out to the umpire and he just
hands in the skip card, like, hey, you know it
is what it is, bro years you gotta wait.
Speaker 6 (38:02):
Or he just start out on three pitches, let's play
the reverse. He gets to bat again.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
What would the draw four be?
Speaker 19 (38:12):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (38:13):
Is that the intentional walk? No? No, draw four?
Speaker 3 (38:17):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
We're gonna have to workshop this a little bit farther
than Look, we got a great start the skip and
the reverse like that, we're we're on a good direction.
If Rob Manfred is gonna do a bunch of stupid stuff,
like we might as well come up with you know,
uh you you uh.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
The managers meet when they do the.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
The the pregame thing, right, somebody comes out and deals
like four cards to each and those are your four cards.
That your four UNO cards you get to play throughout
the game.
Speaker 7 (38:51):
I love it.
Speaker 6 (38:53):
You got like a special camera that zooms in on Yeah, yeah, pregame.
This is this is Terry Frank comes his hands for today.
This is what he's got to play with, and.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
Then you get to put one back and draw another
if you don't like what you get, so you know,
and those are your four cards that you get to
play through.
Speaker 6 (39:08):
Now.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
I think we're onto something. Somebody needs to get this
to Rob Manfred if you.
Speaker 6 (39:12):
Like, I mean you just you pick the Polo O'Neal
card and you pick an outfielder and he can't throw it.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
He's got to kick it.
Speaker 6 (39:18):
He's got to kick it.
Speaker 10 (39:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
Or there's a manager card like the Sweet Lou card
where he comes out and he gets to throat like
as a guy stealing.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
He gets to throw second. Then they have to go
after it. I think we're onto something.
Speaker 6 (39:33):
Eventually we'll just get to rename baseball into something else.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
All right. Where can they find you, Jeff Hey, they
can find.
Speaker 6 (39:42):
Me everywhere you get your podcast, including the iHeartRadio app.
You can also watch us on YouTube and I'm on
Twitter or x or whatever. Jeff Carr with three.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
S's appreciate you man, good talking to you. And uh,
February is not that far away. Like pitchers and catchers are,
you know, they're they're stretching out. They're not warming up yet,
but they're stretching out.
Speaker 6 (40:03):
Thank the Lord for Wes Miller. He's going to make
it feel a lot shorter.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
All right, appreciate you man. Talk soon.
Speaker 19 (40:09):
Thanks.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
Check our number one in the books. When we come back,
we will Uh, I'm on the wrong sheet. Well, we'll
continue that that thought about the Reds stealing the momentum
from the Bengals. Phone lines are open five one three,
fifteen thirty. We will talk to Jay Morrison and Dan
Klaskins in the four o'clock hour as well.
Speaker 3 (40:32):
So let's get to it. Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty upping down.
Speaker 6 (40:36):
In Big Deed spikes the ball in the back of
the episode.
Speaker 1 (40:40):
Seck Taylors, Orange and Black march into Texas for a
lone star showdown with the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
Here have a hot chops into the ground.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
The Bengals high flying offense overpower the Dennis defense.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
Execute it to per BacT check you get.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
The cool from Dangerous Dan Hood and Mighty Dave Leffa.
The coverage begins Monday, three mon ESPN fifteen thirty, the
official home of the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (41:17):
Here we go, Hour number two Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty
Chad Brenda and from O Eggar rolling through a Thursday afternoon.
It's a little chili out. I thank you for choosing me, Tarran.
(41:41):
Did you get hail last night?
Speaker 7 (41:44):
No?
Speaker 2 (41:45):
Real little hailstorm out out in God's country. There was
still little tiny hail pellets on my back deck when
I went to let the dog out this morning.
Speaker 3 (41:55):
Wow, what's going on in the world? We got an
earth quickness of anominium call.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
No, hope everybody's okay. I hope Mike's okay. Phone lines
are open. Unfortunately, Jay Morrison will not be able to
join us today handling some some family business, and I
hope everything is okay with Jay and his family, but uh,
(42:20):
he will not be able to join us. So that
means in the next segment the phone lines are going
to be open. So if you want to you want
to call in chat, phone lines will be open all
the way through this hour until the final segment when
we talk to our guy Dan Klaskins to get you
squared away for fantasy football as we are.
Speaker 3 (42:43):
Is it playoff season yet?
Speaker 6 (42:44):
Arn?
Speaker 3 (42:45):
That's coming up like either like soon right next week?
Next week starts the playoffs, get that final.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
You know, you're making that push for a championship, trying
to trying to get seating, maybe trying to get into
the playoffs so you don't lose. Don't have to do
one of those stupid uh fantasy football league bets.
Speaker 3 (43:05):
Does your league have.
Speaker 6 (43:05):
Those tearing Uh?
Speaker 13 (43:07):
No?
Speaker 4 (43:08):
But you give me the idea for next year for
my league? What's that about it about if whatever comes
the last has to do something?
Speaker 3 (43:15):
Yeah, like, what what's the idea?
Speaker 10 (43:17):
No?
Speaker 3 (43:17):
No, I'm saying we discussed it with because I'm not
the only commissioner.
Speaker 6 (43:20):
So oh okay, So.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
You can't force it upon everybody, right, They got to
get a tattoo. That's a that's a harsh one. You
gotta get a tattoo. It can't be nothing permanent like
you like permanent permanent with I like the one where
they like they have to go to like eye hoop
or like waffle house or whatever, and you're there for
twelve hours and then for every pancake you eat, it
(43:43):
takes an hour off of the time. We couldn't do
it like with chicken wings. It have to be like
for every ten chicken wings, it takes an hour off
the time, something along those lines.
Speaker 3 (43:58):
I hope sounds good. I might just be hung I
brought chicken wings today, I know, but I just got
hungry again.
Speaker 2 (44:05):
Oh okay, I think there's a couple left. We brought
some for Tony, and Tony didn't even want to eat
chicken wings. He said, he eats like he eats like
a chicken fingers, like a toddler, right, because he's in
a house full of toddlers. Well, he was acting like
a toddler today. He was acting like a toddler today.
He was angry, very angry, on piked events, very cranky.
(44:25):
You would think, like, you know, if you got a
day where everybody in the city that was the problem.
Though people didn't talk about him enough on his day.
It's been fifteen years, man, he was upset. Keegan Nicholson
didn't write an article about it. Ere it was signing
day yesterday. We're busy writing about the future of the
(44:48):
Bearcats football program. AnyWho interesting uh, conversation with jefff car
about the Reds former employee here at iHeartRadio and now
the do everything guy for Locked on Reds. And it's
(45:11):
interesting because it felt like and this is how fast
things can change. It felt like at the end of
the Red season, like I don't know what they're going
to do to fix this. And then you fire David
Bell and you hire Terry Francona, and all of a sudden,
all of a sudden, everybody's ears perk up a little bit.
(45:35):
Then you make a trade for a starter, you get
Nick Martinez back. Things momentum is slowly shifting for the Reds,
if for nothing else, because everybody believes that Francona is
a difference maker in the clubhouse. And I still I
(46:00):
love what our guy Klay Snowden told us last week,
And I asked him, like, do you really think Terry
Francona that makes that much of a difference in the
win loss column? And I said, I think he thinks
he made a difference in one hundred and sixty two
days going to work every day and enjoying your boss,
(46:21):
having a boss that you like being around. It's one
of the guys that elicits buy in on a day
to day basis. And David Bell was considered a player's manager.
But I also think with David Bell, he had been
here for a while, and sometimes that message gets a
little flat. When you're in the same place for a
(46:43):
long time. So a change was needed, and they went
out and they hit a home run. And now you
can feel the excitement growing in and around the Cincinnati Reds.
And that is happening against the backdrop of the Cincinnati
(47:04):
Bengals struggling, of the Cincinnati Bengals being in a position
where they ninety seven percent they are not going to
make the playoffs, and for the second year in a row,
they have a dreadful defense, and it doesn't really appear
(47:30):
that there's a path forward with where this thing is headed,
especially on that side of the football. Even more so
when you look across the ball and you see the
offense looking like they're going to have one of the
best years offensively in the history of the franchise, if
(47:51):
not the best year in the history of the franchise.
You know, we only listen to about half of Joe
Burrow's press conference today, mainly because he went what like
twenty five minutes here.
Speaker 3 (48:02):
Yeah, it's been in the most first ten minutes talking
about the Betmobile.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
Yeah, but you know he was asked about Jamar Chase
and the Triple Crown, and that's a real thing catches yards, touchdowns.
He's got a chance to be number one in the
NFL in all three. Joe Burrow is having the best
(48:28):
season of his career, and the Bengals are four and
eight in large part because their defense and special teams
having held up their into the bargain and momentum on
that side is slipping. What are you starting to hear again,
(48:49):
Conversations about the Brown family, conversations about the way that
the franchise is operated are being brought up. Like I
realize this today, Tarren. I think there's seven full time
employees in the University of Cincinnati's football scouting department.
Speaker 3 (49:13):
The Bengals have six scouts. Is that not unfathomable to you?
Speaker 6 (49:23):
A little bit?
Speaker 2 (49:25):
You see has more scouting resources than the Cincinnati Bengals.
That's crazy, That doesn't make any sense at all. And
it's things like that that everybody is going to continue
to point to when they are in a bad stretch. Now,
(49:51):
there's plenty of things that you know that it goes
back to the you know, the easiest thing for a
fan to do is for called for somebody to be fired, right,
That's the instant gut reaction that everybody has as a fan. Now, ye,
if your team's not having success, whoever is responsible for that,
even if it's brief, everybody needs to be fired.
Speaker 3 (50:15):
Fire them all.
Speaker 2 (50:16):
Yep, there's no nuance anymore, there's no It's very hard
for there to be a discourse about okay, what needs
to be fixed, or you know, is their help on
the way or is there upward trajectory or downward trajectory.
It's just fire everybody immediately. But the Bengals losing have
(50:42):
put themselves in the front lines, in the crossairs of
fan sentiment in the Queen City. And if the Reds
go out and maybe it's a good move, maybe it's not.
I think Jeff Carr made a great analysis of where
things are at and what it would be like if
(51:04):
you added Garrett Crochet the starting pitcher for the White Sox.
But if they go out and make a move like that,
or they go out and they get a stud bat
for the outfield, they have a chance to steal the winter.
Steal the winter from the Cincinnati Bengals. All right, let's
(51:31):
take a break. When we come back, phone lines are open.
Can the Rads steal the winter from the Cincinnati Bengals?
Let's discuss more after this. The Mullagger Show hosted by
Not Moeger Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen.
Speaker 1 (51:45):
Thirty Cincinnatius Football in the NATI, brought to you in
part by Modern Office Methods on the official home of
the Bengals, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 9 (51:57):
If this world were made.
Speaker 17 (52:00):
From almost seven days, if this world was mine, I
take it, James and Memos. If this world was mine,
I take your hand in amis in front of and
should do something to that.
Speaker 3 (52:11):
I hit them strictly with this.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
I saw a h I've been watching you know my
I love reaction videos, right, I told you that before.
I've been watching a lot of reaction videos to this song,
and I was reading the comments section and one of
the comments was like, this is what it's like when
you hear your new favorite song for the first time.
(52:42):
It is so good, so good, Like that was that
that stuff was my jam back in the day, that
that old nineties kind of hip hop R and B
feel mm hmm. The new Kendrick is great. There's some
rumors flying Arran that that Sissa is going to do
the halftime show with Kendrick at the Super Bowl Kendrick's
(53:05):
already doing the halftime show now, yeah, and then there's
there's a word that Sissa's going to be there with him.
Speaker 3 (53:11):
So that doesn't mean that, uh, Drake's Madison now, I
can't imagine he's not.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
I mean there's talk that this this second album that
they're talking about might be a Sissa album with like
Sizza feature and Kendrick. They might do like the old
uh speaker Box and the Love Below, where one album
is Kendrick featuring Sizza and then the other album is
Siss a feature in Kendrick.
Speaker 3 (53:36):
Oh you know, Drake's somewhere punching the air right now.
Speaker 2 (53:38):
Oh, even a big man, big man. I don't know
how much people love us talking new hip hop, Terren.
They love the old school stuff. I don't know how
much they love us talking new hip hop. But it's
it's that good of an album.
Speaker 6 (53:54):
I'm a big fan.
Speaker 2 (53:55):
And I literally you could turn back Luth, you could
turn Luther back on and I would just listen to
that song and then go to break.
Speaker 20 (54:03):
I feel like this that's the perfect song for the
Christmas spirit. Christmas, I agree, is it? I mean, you
know the old heads, It's got Luther in there. It's
got that chill vibe to it.
Speaker 10 (54:14):
So good.
Speaker 2 (54:15):
It's got to the phones Mark and Florence. I know
Mark's a big Kendrick and says a fan, Mark, what's
going on?
Speaker 7 (54:23):
Hey, how's it going? Thanks for taking my call?
Speaker 3 (54:25):
No problem? Are you a big Luther fan? Mark?
Speaker 13 (54:29):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (54:30):
Semi?
Speaker 7 (54:30):
You know I liked him, okay, you know, I like
he had a handful of songs that I like.
Speaker 10 (54:36):
Okay, and that was about it.
Speaker 7 (54:38):
I remember when he first.
Speaker 3 (54:39):
Came out, so he you know, he was okay, okay,
what's going on?
Speaker 6 (54:44):
Okay?
Speaker 7 (54:45):
Okay? I had I had a Bingles comment, then I
had a Rids comment.
Speaker 6 (54:49):
All right, okay.
Speaker 7 (54:49):
My begles comment is with all the problems that we
have seen this season, you know, I don't need to
go into them. We know what they are. My biggest
take is going forward, it looked like Zach's gonna be
the coach. I think got two more years on the contract.
My biggest thing is the Bengals have a lot of coaches,
(55:11):
but they don't have a head coach. You know. I
would like to see him give up the play call
and duties and concentrate on being a head coach.
Speaker 3 (55:20):
I think that's the one thing he does well, Mark,
is be a head coach.
Speaker 10 (55:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (55:25):
Nah, I think I think that's a because if he
if he's concentrated on being a head coach instead of
calling plays, you know, then that way you can you
can put your your finger on some of the other
problems on defense, special teams, you can, you can put
your hands in another areas because you overseeing the big pictures.
(55:46):
I just think, well, when I've seen great coaches, you know,
you got good coaches, then got great coaches like the
Jimmy Johnson's and the Bill Parcells.
Speaker 6 (55:54):
Of the world.
Speaker 7 (55:55):
They they believe in delegating that stuff. I mean, Jimmy
said it, he said, you delegate that stuff and you
manage your game. And there's sometimes where he he doesn't
manage the game right because he's got to worry about
what the next play he's gonna call. So I would
like to see how how would it go if he
(56:15):
just concentrated on head coaching duties and let somebody else
call the plays. I would like to see how things
would go at that point going forward.
Speaker 2 (56:25):
I mean, I don't I don't hate the thought process, Mark,
But the reason I would say he needs to focus
on being a head coach. Is because I think we
all agree, Stunt, it's not the best offensive play caller
in the world. Like, that's that's why he needs an
offensive coordinator more so than he needs to worry about
being a head coach.
Speaker 7 (56:46):
Yeah, okay, guy, Well you know, it was just my opinion.
I know.
Speaker 2 (56:49):
No, I mean, I don't think he's a very good
offensive play caller. I think that's the first problem.
Speaker 7 (56:56):
Yeah, I think I think he needs to let turn
over the duties to somebody else, Let somebody else call
the plays. Just be ahead coaching and you manage the game.
That's my whole take with him. I think he's good
at calling a good game sometimes, but I don't think
he's good at doing that all the time. That As
(57:16):
far as the Reds, I mean, I like what they
have done so far, but I want to see a
little more. I want to see Jamer traded. I want
to see a left handed guy that can close games out,
assuming that you're keeping Alexis Da because I think you
need to guys in that bullpend that can close games.
(57:38):
And of course you know we we all should agree.
Speaker 6 (57:43):
I want to see a.
Speaker 7 (57:44):
Right handed back in the middle of that lineup that
can hit for some power. So you know, I'm hoping
that I see that to go along with the you know,
the changes that have already been made. And I think
I think they make those changes. I think they'll have
a pretty good season. But if you bring if you're
(58:06):
selling me Jamber again and alexis d As being a
closer by itself, you know, I ain't too confident in
that because I've already seen that, and you know, and
and then you counting on these other guys that developed
and you don't you don't know what these young gir
guys are going to develop into, you know, going forward.
Speaker 6 (58:29):
So I would just like to see.
Speaker 7 (58:31):
Those moves being made and then going forward, see how
the season turns out at that point. So I'll get
off and listen to the rest of the show.
Speaker 2 (58:40):
All right, appreciate it, Mark, thanks for listening. Let's take
a break, Tarre and I'll address some of those things
when we're returned. Since that he's ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 1 (58:51):
You've been listening to a football in Thenetti on the
official home of the Bengals Cincinnatis, ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 17 (59:01):
I am reincarinated, I'm gonna start getting life goes on.
Speaker 6 (59:05):
Honey, my babies.
Speaker 3 (59:07):
Woke up looking for the back late.
Speaker 17 (59:10):
Keep a horn on me that my seat Pete only ship.
Speaker 6 (59:12):
The blueprint is by me.
Speaker 3 (59:14):
Mister get off, I get off on my feet. Dabby dabb.
Speaker 17 (59:25):
Like he couldn't try me in a try state money pass,
but I get him splashed to me, how rated down south?
Speaker 3 (59:30):
None he spoke town.
Speaker 17 (59:31):
I stylated, I've got this money in the power boat.
Speaker 2 (59:34):
Gry Rady bogging back Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirties look good.
Speaker 10 (59:38):
But she don't got no ties. I walked in.
Speaker 3 (59:40):
I don't know how this doesn't make you just want
to I mean it made people want to dance in
the eighties.
Speaker 2 (59:45):
Yeah, I feel like football right, like all of a sudden,
like your arms are up in like the chicken wing motion.
I mean, nobody wants to see me do that. We'll
leave it to you, but like you know, the.
Speaker 6 (01:00:02):
Very good.
Speaker 2 (01:00:04):
Did you see the new report out of Inside Carolina,
The North Carolina twenty four seven site.
Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
Tearn about uh Belichick?
Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
Yeah yeah, North Carolina has officially interviewed Bill Belichick for
their head coaching job. Look sure. The reason that they're
looking for a head coach is because the coach that
was there got too old. And the answer is Bill Belichick,
(01:00:38):
who's never really coached in college or at least hasn't
coached in college since, like Debbie deb was was releasing
that song.
Speaker 3 (01:00:52):
I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
Also, pretty big news out of Clifton and Soresby kind
of hinted at this, uh the last media availability that
we had with him, he is, uh, he has he
has reached a deal to return for the twenty twenty
five season.
Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
Uh, Taren, I know you you're you balked at this
a little bit that we're at this point.
Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
I know he had seven figure offers to go elsewhere,
or at least that's what I've heard through the grape
vine in college football and these deals, at least for
right now, I think we will get to a point where,
especially like like transfer portal guys you're play, schools are
gonna want like a two year commitment at best or
(01:01:45):
at worst, like a quarterback. Even more so so you
know that you've got your guy tied up either locked
up for a little bit. You don't want to uh
continuous being like a one year perpetual loop at quarterback.
(01:02:05):
This is college sports in twenty twenty four Terran. It's
a We're gonna have to get used to it. Whether
we like it or not, We're gonna have to get
used to it because this is the direction that things
are going. You are talking about starting in probably July first.
I would guess once the uh the house case goes
(01:02:28):
through that there is going to be revenue sharing. Teams
are going to have twenty plus million dollars to divvy
up throughout their athletic department.
Speaker 3 (01:02:39):
And you know how it's tearing.
Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Everybody talks about, you know, the this might be paying
a little painful right now, but they talk about the
twenty million dollar roster at Ohio State like it's a
huge outlier, because right now it is a huge outlier.
The numbers i've heard taran of that twenty million, most
of the Power five is going to be allocating somewhere
(01:03:03):
in the seventy to seventy five percent range to football,
which means fifteen million dollars to football for all of
the Power five. Pretty much, that's just to spend on
the roster. That's for nothing else. High school recruits, transfer
(01:03:27):
portal retaining your own players. Flat line. Most places are
going to have fifteen million dollars to spend, So we
better get used to hearing about contracts because you know
what they're not gonna do. You ain't gonna see a
whole lot of school spending fifteen million dollars without contractual obligations,
especially if that money's coming from in house. So you know,
(01:03:53):
everybody is having pretty much the same reaction to the
Pete the AMIL tweet that said Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Soresby
has agreed he'd do a new deal to stay at
the school. Per ESPN sources, he threw for twenty eight
hundred yards four hundred, ran for four hundred and forty
five more, eighteen touchdowns, and ran for nine.
Speaker 3 (01:04:12):
Yeah, new contract. You know what a college athlete I mean?
You know, we know a lot of them.
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
Tony complains about not being not getting an IL. Now
he's an adult, he wants more in IL. Maybe that's
why he's so grumpy today. Was he supposed to get
ANIL bonus on the every every December fifth, Tony's supposed
to get an NIL bonus for Pike to Ben's day.
Speaker 3 (01:04:38):
This is Bubby Day.
Speaker 10 (01:04:40):
It is.
Speaker 3 (01:04:40):
It should be.
Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
Somebody, somebody, somebody in this town, please come forward, and
even if it's like a hundred bucks, just sponsor. Maybe
that's what I'll do with Bearcat Journal. Maybe I'll sponsor
Tony on Pike to Ben's Day and I'll get him
like one hundred dollars gift card. I think that would
(01:05:05):
make him happy.
Speaker 3 (01:05:06):
Or maybe just like a free year subscription at the
Bearhead Journal.
Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
Maybe I could do that, but I don't want him
post in like after you see losses, he gets mad
like he gets he gets as angry as like ninety
nine percent of my board, like irrationally.
Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
He was yelling at his kids. Tarren, Yeah, he told
me or A Wilder. Wilder's like, dad, can we play ball?
Speaker 2 (01:05:32):
And Tony's like the game is on Wilder snap in,
lock in, kid, the game is on.
Speaker 3 (01:05:40):
Eric Dixon's killing us. I know people are upset, Like
I know people aren't gonna like it.
Speaker 2 (01:05:47):
I know everybody is going to go down this path
of you know, it's uh, it's it's amateur sports. It
was amateur sports until it started being a multi billion
dollar industry. And if you have a multi billion dollar industry,
(01:06:10):
that's really hard to do and not pay the people
producing the multi billion dollar industry.
Speaker 3 (01:06:18):
They should be paid.
Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
They're getting paid, and we are going to have to
get used to things like sophomore quarterback Brendan Soresby has
agreed to a new deal to stay at Cincinnati. It's
where we're headed, and that toothpaste is out of the tube. Well,
they're gonna do like that in least release the number
of the deal, how much the deal is worth. I
(01:06:40):
think we're headed. I don't think we're going to see
that until there's collective bargaining for obvious reasons. But once
there's collective bargaining, and I do think there absolutely will
be collective bargaining at some point in the not too
distant future, although I guess Taron you honestly, we probably
(01:07:00):
will see the numbers now, you know why welcome because
it's going to be public record.
Speaker 6 (01:07:11):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
The contracts are now moving forward. Once revenue share starts,
the contracts will be with the school. They won't be
with the NIL collective. So if I file a Freedom
of Information Act request for the contract of x y
Z player, the school has to fill that and then
(01:07:32):
we'll have the numbers. So we're not far off, not
there yet, but as as things change, that's where we're headed.
Dan Klaskins get sports info dot com. We'll get your
fantasy football lineup set up. At five o'clock hour, I'll
gladly open the phones and we'll talk about the the
(01:07:56):
wording there and if it bothers you, and I mean,
i'd ask what your solution is. But there ain't no
going back, since that's ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 3 (01:08:16):
With a love go.
Speaker 5 (01:08:17):
It's a stroke go.
Speaker 20 (01:08:18):
It is this happiness will no But I'm slapping this
in your mouth though with a he hope you would
West Coast Trade Coast is the double citch.
Speaker 3 (01:08:28):
I can't there we go the final segment of the hour.
Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
Let's get out to our guy, Dan Klaskins, get sports
info dot com. I know Dan's got that new ice
cube album. Damn, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (01:08:43):
My friend?
Speaker 10 (01:08:45):
Oh, you better believe him, You better play. I don't
have any albums. I wish I did it. I'd be
a lot cooler if I did.
Speaker 6 (01:08:54):
If you did, you don't.
Speaker 3 (01:08:55):
You're not a record guy. You don't have a record
player at.
Speaker 10 (01:08:58):
Home, But I mean I enjoy records and have a
record player. That was my music, Spotify and a number
of unused subscriptions'd.
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
Be cheaper to just buy a record player, Dan, Sure,
that was what Kelsey wanted for Christmas last year.
Speaker 3 (01:09:14):
She wanted a record player. So she's she's got records.
Speaker 7 (01:09:17):
Now.
Speaker 10 (01:09:19):
That's cool, man, that's cool.
Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
Let's get to it.
Speaker 10 (01:09:22):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
It's uh week fourteen, which some leagues will be in
the first week of the playoffs, but most leagues are
a week from the playoffs, right, this is like the
final week of the regular season.
Speaker 10 (01:09:35):
Very very correct, very correct. The majority of leagues out
there certainly will start their playoffs next week, but a
lot of the high stakes leagues already into it. No
matter the case, Chad, the stakes are high. And one
good thing about this week, Bye bye bye Week's baby.
The last six byes of the season Baltimore, Denver, used
in Indy, New England, Washington all out of action. So
(01:09:57):
I guess that's good if your playoffsn't start of next
week so much if you've already.
Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
Started, right, it's crazy that we're in week fourteen and
there's team still on buys. The season's over. What are
you having a bye in week fourteen for? You're at
like you can see the tape, the finish lines right there.
Let's get to the under the radar guys this week, Dan, Yeah,
not just this.
Speaker 10 (01:10:18):
Week, it's really for the rest of the season.
Speaker 6 (01:10:20):
All tays.
Speaker 10 (01:10:21):
Yeah, maybe they're on benches, maybe they're not. But I'll
go a couple of weeks this. I like Anthony Riche
down the upside. He's on a bye week this week.
He's probably not available in a lot of leagues, but
Shaut with ten team one QB leagues, Yes, he's worth
the grab. And it's Bill Levis. I mean he's looked
a little better weeks fifteen or seventeen, those playoff weeks
of Headshad Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Jacksonville. Those are the opponents.
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
So I'd put you on my team if you were
the quarterback, I'd put you on my team. If you
were the quarterback against the Bengals, I wouldn't do.
Speaker 10 (01:10:51):
As good as Will Levis, but I might be the
same amount of interceptions that he I really I picked
him up in the league where I think I'm gonna
to be in the playoffs and my quarterback sucks, and
he's a guy that I'm licking my jobs over those
matchups about that running back is mostly just handcuff your dudes.
I mean, especially with the rookiees. The Braven Allen's the trade,
Benson's commanding, the Dallas, the Ay Davis. He really can't
(01:11:12):
start him. But man, the waiver wire could be tricky,
as we saw this week in the case of the
Niner situation. Talk about that the minute wide receivers. I
love me some Christian Watson. I know Dobb's just still
a little dinged up there. Maybe he can go Wix,
but Watson's the guy at the upside play, guy always
scores touchdowns. But I like Will Lovis. I gotta guess
I gotta buy in the Westbrook Kenya there with his
(01:11:35):
all he does is cuts touchdowns and Wandale Robinson. I
think Withdrew Locke at quarterback, maybe he comes PPR relevant,
John new Smith at tight end. I really like down
the stretch and the Bucks d that's Chargers, Dallas and Carolina.
That's a good string of games there, in all likelihood
for a defense that has its moment.
Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
All right, let's let's keep it moving to injury updates.
You got you got sent me a long list of
in updates here.
Speaker 10 (01:12:00):
Dan, Yeah, well, I've modified that one, but it's still
just as long. Let's start with the worst injury news
and man, Christian McCaffrey. Just when he started looking good,
it goes bad again. Luckily not the Achilles issued the sideline,
but the new issue that will end his regular season
and there for his fantasy season.
Speaker 6 (01:12:18):
He's on.
Speaker 10 (01:12:18):
I are the biggest bummer here is if you handcuff
Jordan masonson. He's also placed on the ior with an
ankle injury, which goes back to those rookie handcuffs, you know,
with the grendo there now coming into the mix for
the forty nine ers, Breech Hall. This one's getting more
concerning as the week goes on. Second straight day we
didn't see him in practice for the Jets. Bucky Irving,
(01:12:40):
another guy that has just been on fire, but coming
off a career high twenty five carries a week ago
which he played with hit and back issues, has a
practice in two straight so if he's out tomorrow, that
is big news there. DeAndre Swift and Roshawn Johnson, the
Bear's top two running backs and Jeopardy had missing their
Week fourteen match up at the quad cussion issue wide
(01:13:01):
receiver DJ Moore's dealing with the quad, so we'll keep
our eyes on all three of those guys on Friday.
Looking pretty good for CD Lamb with the shoulder, DK
back Heap with the knee, and Lamb mccockey with his
knee injury, but those will be situations to monitor. We'll
see if the Eagles can get Devonte Schmidt back at
the He's missed two in a row at the hamstring,
another mispractice today, two weeks passes concussion. It looks very
(01:13:23):
doubtful that Cedric Tillman's coming back for the Browns. Trevor
Lawrence out for the season, concussion and shoulder surgery ahead
for him. Taysom Hill and knee injury, ending his season
after he was really emerging. As they must start fantasy
tight end. And speaking of fantasy tight ends, we're crossing
our fingers we get a couple of these guys back
this week. Jake Ferguson, he's in concussion protocol, obviously they play.
Speaker 5 (01:13:45):
The Bengals on Monday. And Dalton kin k.
Speaker 10 (01:13:48):
I thought he was coming back last week, perhaps it's
this week. He actually had a regular colored jersey on
in practice today, so I think that might be a
promising sign he returns versus the Rams.
Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
There's nothing better than seeing a guy walk out there
in a regular color jersey after you know what, countless
weeks and the yellow or the orange or whatever the
team uses, all of a sudden, they're back out there
in the practice jersey.
Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
You're like, all, right, here we go.
Speaker 10 (01:14:12):
Here we go, here we go. So I caid sure you.
I'm sure others could as well.
Speaker 3 (01:14:18):
Weekly Studs, duds and sleepers.
Speaker 7 (01:14:22):
My friend.
Speaker 10 (01:14:24):
Yeah, I mean, I know we're all down on the Bengals,
but we shouldn't be down on them in Fantasy. And
this week you certainly shouldn't be down on Chase Brown.
He's my stud player of running back and it's about
about volume. Baby running back shares of one hundred, one
hundred and ninety two percent of vers last four he
hasn't scored any fewer than nineteen PPR points. In this game.
He's going against the Cowboys d that's allowed the fifth
most Fantasy points the running backs over the last five weeks.
(01:14:47):
Love Pook and the Kupa as well, Buffalo. I do
like them in this matchup, but you know, this is
a game. I think the Rams are going to continue
to be involved in the coup. Has been basically the
top one of the top five receiver over last month.
I don't think anything changes this week on the dud
side of it. Gus Edwards, really, any Chargers running back
we're going to sit down.
Speaker 5 (01:15:08):
I know. Af the JK.
Speaker 10 (01:15:09):
Dobbins went down, people were hoping Edwards to be the guy,
but it is a true running back by committee. Fifty
two percent of the snacks went his way last week,
twenty six for a Doll, fifteen percent for Haskins. We
don't know who's getting it at the goal line. I mean,
don't do it to yourself. Just take him down. You're
also going to say Genas Smith with metcat dinged up
the match up here at Arizona.
Speaker 5 (01:15:29):
I thought it was going to go over last time.
Speaker 10 (01:15:31):
It was a real low scoring affair. I don't know
what to make of it, but with you know, I
think you can do better quarterback. And finally, sleepers like
me some Sam Darnold this week, like the Vikings versus
the Falcons there in Minnesota and Keenan Allen, especially if
DJ Morsett. I had him as a sleeper before that,
but Keenan Allen. Since we've seen the change to Shane
Waldron calling the plays there, thirty one targets, two hundred receiving.
Speaker 5 (01:15:54):
Yards in three games.
Speaker 10 (01:15:56):
And you know, Moore's also looks pretty solid here. The
offense as a whole looks better. I think Keenan Allen
I got him in my top twenty five this week
as the Bears head to San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (01:16:06):
All Right, man, there you go. That's gonna that's gonna
wrap it up. I I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
I hope your fan your Thanksgiving was wonderful, and we are.
Speaker 10 (01:16:16):
Sure pumped up. I'm heading down the Beachwood tomorrow to
cover the Tigers on their quest or excuse me, the
elections to tomorrow to cover Beachwood on the hopefully another
state championship.
Speaker 5 (01:16:26):
For Tri State football.
Speaker 10 (01:16:27):
Dot time him. We got five teams playing for state championship.
Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
You sent Greg freezestuff. You sent Greg the Freezer's butt
off tonight.
Speaker 10 (01:16:35):
Huh Greg? Yeah? Greg? Greg? Greg Greg weriggs electric socks
in October. So you know, he's real thrilled about.
Speaker 3 (01:16:43):
He's a tiny guy. He's like that. That cold's got
to be bitter to him.
Speaker 10 (01:16:49):
That's cold is bittered even us bat dude, Right, yeah,
all right Dan.
Speaker 2 (01:16:53):
Let' uh let everybody in the family note that I
said hello, and you have a great weekend, man, you
as well.
Speaker 10 (01:16:59):
And that's the luck to everybody out there fighting for
playoff spots. Hopefully it works out, of course, unless you
fight me for one, all right, man, see you.
Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
Then that's going to wrap it up for hour two,
hour three when we come back. Cincinnatis ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 21 (01:17:17):
Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty Traffic from the UC Health Traffic Center.
U SE Help's Weight Loss Center offers comprehensive OBCD care
and advanced surgical expertise called five one three nine three
nine two two six three. That's nine three nine two

Speaker 1 (01:17:53):
No one covers the Bengals like ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's
sports station.
Speaker 2 (01:18:05):
Wow, all right, welcome back our number three. We are
flying through this one. On Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty, It's
the Moegger Show. I am Chad Brendle Zach Taylor because
they play on Monday. Zach Taylor spoke to the media today.
Let's hear what Zach had to say about the Batmobile.
Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
Time for the Zach Taylor press conference, brought to you
in black by one Hour Heating and air Conditioning RND
itters Kangaroo hand by Modern of his methods on the
official home of the Bengals, Cincinnatis, ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 16 (01:18:42):
I spent a couple of reports about some guys going
on iry.
Speaker 8 (01:18:46):
Just run through a little bit draft.
Speaker 9 (01:18:48):
Yeah, Evan, we put Evan on ir Glogan. There's there's
a good chance that goes that way as well with
his knee. Those are the two I would come up.
Speaker 5 (01:19:00):
You know.
Speaker 9 (01:19:00):
It just felt felt sore during the game, but again
nothing that a lot of guys don't feel. So just
felt like keep it warm, keep going. And then the
next morning, uh, turn turn out to be more significant
impressing his work out. Yeah, he did a good job.
Yea powerful did a good job. So we signed him up.
Speaker 16 (01:19:19):
Is there any conversation about Orlando potentially online?
Speaker 9 (01:19:24):
I don't know about that yet. You know, we'll just
continue to work through the week with Orlando. He's there
a chance, we'll see, We'll see. He'd be doubtful right now.
Speaker 14 (01:19:35):
What what is the fine lines act between protecting a
player the short term and bigger pictures?
Speaker 9 (01:19:42):
Well, these are certainly all obvious ones, you know, with
with Logan and Evan, you know, so there's there's not
really much of a decision to be made there. Once
you get the information, you know what they need to do.
So really that's that's all there is to it.
Speaker 14 (01:19:56):
But more with players like Orlando, nursing thing, they're kind
of knighting them all year. Yeah, the chance of getting
worse or maybe they don't.
Speaker 10 (01:20:05):
How do you consider that fact?
Speaker 9 (01:20:07):
Well, you know, with the Orlando last week, you know,
he got back into full practice, felt good about it,
and then then obviously we get towards the end of
the game and it was it was really bothering limited him,
and so he tried to give us everything he could,
and so now we'll just go back to this week
and see where it ends up. Hey, there's a chance there.
Speaker 10 (01:20:26):
Yeah, what happened with Logan and is Neat.
Speaker 9 (01:20:31):
Just had have it looked at. So it was feeling sore,
and so again just we got to the point where
where this is where we're at.
Speaker 15 (01:20:39):
So is it something that followed up during the because
he played.
Speaker 9 (01:20:42):
Yeah, I think he came out of the bye week
and thought it would feel better and it didn't, you know,
so I think he with a week of rest, was
really hopeful that I'll be much better, and then came
back that Monday, really that weekend and just it wasn't
feeling like it should and then got to the weekend,
didn't get any better last week even giving him time off,
and so we sat him out and then then where
(01:21:04):
we're at.
Speaker 5 (01:21:05):
What you like from Jenkins and Jackson so far set
in the.
Speaker 9 (01:21:09):
Ranks, Yeah, I think the experiences has served them really well,
you know, just just getting to play in this league
against different linemen, different schemes. You know, obviously they've they've
got a lot of reps, so you see those guys grow,
and so that's been beneficial and I like what they're about.
You know, they're they've got the right mentality, the right approach.
Played a lot this year and so that's encouraging.
Speaker 11 (01:21:32):
Hey, we're coming up and having to move on from
the ruin.
Speaker 6 (01:21:35):
How was that conversation with Trent Hard? Yeah?
Speaker 9 (01:21:38):
Hard, I mean that that guy has been here every year.
I've been here, uh six years, and man is about
all the right stuff, everything that we want from our
guys in the locker room. I mean basically lived in
this facility for six years. You know, there be times
would be nobody here except for Trenton, you know, in
the in the weight room or doing his receiver stuff
and the tur if I'd come back here in the
(01:21:59):
summer and be out there on the field by himself
and so just just a guy that got every ounce
out of his body and and help this team make
a lot of plays in his time here.
Speaker 5 (01:22:10):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (01:22:10):
Really proud for him to have been a Bangal and
associated with us and and certainly wish him the best.
That's that's one of the harder conversations you'll ever have
with the player. Is a guy who's meant that much
to you and everybody in the staff, everybody in the building.
So that's that's not a fun one.
Speaker 3 (01:22:25):
What have you see from Asia Williams and practice?
Speaker 9 (01:22:29):
Yeah, great quickness, you know, So we just continue to
feed him reps you know on punt return and and
so just find different roles for him. But but like
what he's about, like his intelligence, he's been able to
come in and pick it up pretty quickly. And so
you just keep working with him. We'll see, you know.
I wouldn't definitely would take that off the table. I
(01:22:50):
liked what I've seen so far. Uh in practice limits
to practice stuff he gets when he steps in there,
you know, to give a guy a break. He's got
a good quickness and and again he knows how to
do it all. He's he's a good a good foundation offensively,
so he's able to kind of hit the ground running here.
Speaker 18 (01:23:05):
I mean, he's kind of kind of the young it's
kind of the younger version of Irwin a number having
a guy getting the second shot with another team, and
it's this is how things when.
Speaker 6 (01:23:14):
You just recycled.
Speaker 9 (01:23:15):
Yeah, yeah, you just you never know when your opportunity
is gonna come. You gotta take advantage of it. And
that's that's really the situation he's in right now. Alice
Wenday night, what do you see with how they improve
the game? Yeah, good team. I feel like they're getting healthier,
you know. I think that's that's really what bit. I'm
at the midway point of the year, missing some key guys,
Michael Parson's being one the corners. I've both missed a
(01:23:37):
lot of time, you know.
Speaker 7 (01:23:39):
And so.
Speaker 9 (01:23:41):
I see a team that's really well coached, they play
with great energy, They're on a two game win streak.
So you've got that confidence that's feeding Indian. You got
a home in a night game. And again, a lot
of respect for for uh, Mike McCarthy, Mike Zimmer, Bones Shoddy,
all those guys have done a great job coordinating over
their career. Can see that in their their scheme and
(01:24:01):
the guys and how they play. And so again it's
it's a tough test for guys and exciting to be
on Monday night football, And you know, I think that's
what this team needs right now. Put us back in
the spotlight, have an opportunity to overcome and find a
win and and get on the right stretch here.
Speaker 14 (01:24:18):
Orlando Brown was recognized as the Bengals nominie. What stands
out to you about his personality.
Speaker 9 (01:24:25):
Character serves others really, you know, he just genuinely cares
about those around him and those in the community and
gives up a lot of his time to make sure
particularly in associations with diabetes and just shoot players, families, coaches, family,
setting up experiences for them as well, and just just
(01:24:46):
all the stuff that he does that's known or not
known in the community. It's been substantial, and so he
understands he's been given a lot in his life and
earned it all and takes the opportunity to give it
back as well, and just a genuinely great human being
that is deserving of everything that comes his way.
Speaker 14 (01:25:04):
How those trades played over into the walker room into portball.
Speaker 9 (01:25:08):
It's got such a positive mindset, you know, even when
we have tough stretches like this, when you're around him,
he raises your energy level, he raises your confidence level.
And the more guys you got on a team like Orlando,
the better because he's just he's got a winner's mindset,
he's got a champion's mindset. He works the details are
important to him, Making people around him better is important
(01:25:31):
to him, and someth thankful he's on our team.
Speaker 16 (01:25:33):
Speaking of him serving others is pretty clear since the
day guys drafted amart is how much he's taken that
relationship the next level and really feels like he cares
about wanting to help develop him. We never ask you
about men's and obviously when we do that, it's probably
a good thing. Yeah, is he having as good as
a rookie season as a starter on the offensive line as.
Speaker 3 (01:25:56):
He's ever seen in your career?
Speaker 9 (01:25:57):
And he didn't have training camp, you know, he all
the substantial portions of training camp. Really, so you're talking
about run game things that he's really seeing for the
first time with us. That's happening as you scheme up
a plan during the course of the week and all
the adjustments off of that and and facing different rushers.
I mean, he really just faced our guys. He didn't
(01:26:17):
get the chance to go against Chicago or Indie or
any of the preseason games. And uh so again he's
he's handled it really well. Again, another guy that brings
great energy and confidence to the group. Same guy every day,
which is which is huge for rookie who's coming in
and the role he's having used to used to being
on a team that plays a lot of games. It's
(01:26:38):
probably serves him well because he's used to practicing at
this point in the year. And I know he had
an injury last year, but really proud of the job
he's done. But it's not over. Keep building on it.
He's gonna keep getting my parsons this week. You know,
it doesn't let up. You know you're gonna see TJ.
Wat again, You're gonna see Miles Miles again. So you're
gonna see all these guys and and they keep coming
at you. And so he's got to continue to be consistent.
(01:26:59):
And that's he's done so far, and we'll continue to
build off of that exact.
Speaker 19 (01:27:04):
Joe that vote.
Speaker 13 (01:27:05):
There's other corner stones and franch shots will be remember
how they.
Speaker 2 (01:27:08):
Handle this important.
Speaker 10 (01:27:09):
You think the final five weeks for that message.
Speaker 9 (01:27:12):
I think this one's a huge scan for us, you know,
just trying to find that that win that can get
us going a little bit and get that feeling out
of our system of not having a win for a while.
And so I think that's that's important. Like I said,
it's a great opportunity to be in a spotlight again
this week, and show what we're about, you know, because
we know in the locker room, we see it every day,
and now it's just an opportunity to present ourselves the
right way.
Speaker 14 (01:27:33):
You've always praised that ownership in the front office and
your communication with them and day out, Does that dialogue
change it all?
Speaker 10 (01:27:41):
That tone change at all to getting a three dame losing?
Speaker 9 (01:27:45):
I think that's the beauty of when you have constant
communication is you're always on the same page. It's just
when you speak with anybody, there's no need for a
tone change because you're right there with each other lockstep.
Everybody takes a lot of responsibility for what's going on
right now that this is. This is on me primarily.
So it's just great when you've got confidence and everybody
(01:28:06):
you work around and the communication is there, and that's
all you can ask for in this league.
Speaker 14 (01:28:10):
Are you ever not in the same lock stuff, the
same thinking, whether it's coaches and coaches ownership.
Speaker 3 (01:28:18):
Does that ever happen?
Speaker 9 (01:28:20):
I think if you ever work somewhere and everyone thinks
the same way every single day, that's that's not a
good thing. But what is critical is the way that
you can communicate through it and see all sides of
it and come to a joint conclusion on what's best,
and that is that is the best way to do it.
And that's exactly how.
Speaker 13 (01:28:36):
We do it.
Speaker 9 (01:28:37):
And been a part of a lot of places played coached,
and this is this is the best way to do it,
one hundred percent confident in that. Wouldn't have it any
other way. And so again, that's that's the way we operate.
Speaker 6 (01:28:50):
Half a bunch of guys with three or more SATs.
Speaker 16 (01:28:52):
How much is that sail?
Speaker 10 (01:28:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (01:28:55):
Yeah, he does a good job putting his guys in
good spots to create those one on ones and making
sure you can't hone in on one guy or one look.
And so he does a really good job. And you know,
so again it's I've always had a lot of respect
for Mike Zimmer and the job he's done, never enjoyed
going against him or his scheme. And you can see
(01:29:16):
the players operate with a lot of confidence and getting
out now they're getting healthier, they potentially have both the
corners back, Mike back. So again now you're seeing the
fruits of the labor this season and and how they
believe in him in that scheme and and it shows
up on the tape.
Speaker 13 (01:29:30):
Did you see clips of hard knocks from this past week?
Speaker 6 (01:29:33):
Now, what is it like?
Speaker 8 (01:29:35):
What is it like to know though, that that type
of access that that people are seeing.
Speaker 2 (01:29:39):
It's name from that stead point.
Speaker 9 (01:29:41):
That's just that's the you know, you assume everything's out
there now, you know, just just the way it is.
And it's great for the fans, great for the NFL
community to have access. And you know, one of the
reasons when we when we first got selected to do this,
we have tremendous personalities and great players in this team
that I think should be showcased and put the forefront
of the league so people can see the person better
(01:30:02):
what we experience every single day. These are tremendous players
that work the right way. And now it's all on
video and and the evidence is there, and and uh,
that's just that's the way it is, and we'll embrace it.
Speaker 6 (01:30:14):
The access make you uncomfortable, as you.
Speaker 9 (01:30:17):
Know, it's just part of it. You know, it's we're
not saying or doing anything that we're ashamed of, so
so film it put it out there. Yeah, there's things,
obviously for schematic reasons that you're always a little hesitant
about it. I voiced my my concerns on that, but
they're they're great. They they want what's best for the teams,
they want us best for the NFL. They want to
put a good product out there that that shows what's
(01:30:40):
going on and is enjoyable for everybody to watch, and
and new form relationships with all the people that are
part of the Hard Knocks crew, And they do an
outstanding job, and they put together a great product and
it's a lot of fun for the fans to watch,
and we're just we're just a part of it. Eager
to see Joe's battle. I mean, uh, that's that's like
(01:31:03):
the only comic book movie I've ever really watched or enjoyed,
quite frankly. And and so yeah, maybe I'll take a
peek if he wants to pull it up, and and uh,
we all go out there and take a team picture
in front of it or something.
Speaker 10 (01:31:16):
It's going to be a year.
Speaker 9 (01:31:18):
I have no idea. Yeah, I I this is a
third hand information for me. I haven't asked him about it.
Speaker 20 (01:31:23):
Is there anything about Jama When you guys grafted Jama
seemed like yested it.
Speaker 9 (01:31:27):
It's not suddenly four years But is there anything he's done.
Speaker 5 (01:31:32):
That is surprised that has said that.
Speaker 18 (01:31:34):
You know, that is taking he said, he this is,
you know, even.
Speaker 19 (01:31:36):
More than he thought.
Speaker 9 (01:31:38):
I think his consistency of of how he performs every
week and who he is when he comes in here
for the week, and his overall football intelligence, that that
is an impossible thing to predict when you get a player,
and that has just shown up countless times. And how
much he's able to handle, how much he's able to
(01:31:59):
help other people, he's making correction sometimes going to walk
through across across to the other side, you know, to
to a younger player, and just that that's the stuff
you don't take for granted when a guy is able
to operate at a level like that. And I certainly
don't take that for granted.
Speaker 18 (01:32:18):
You got a recent example from any game about the antelogence.
Speaker 9 (01:32:23):
Well, you can just I mean the adjustments you can
make on the fly in the game and you just hey,
here's the concept. Here is we want you to line
up and here's why, and he's going to go execute it.
And so that's to me to give you the perfect
example of play nineteen from whatever game. I can't do
that to you at the top of my head. But
you just you're never concerned about making an adjustment on
(01:32:44):
the on the fly and and him not being able
sorted out.
Speaker 18 (01:32:48):
Along played his last with forty nine add this week.
That looked like that was kind of a little bit
of him and the kind of.
Speaker 9 (01:32:54):
Lead the defense a little bit on the last drive. Yeah, yeah,
just getting the same page and scrambled drill. You know,
his route brought him over there and then Joe just
found him on the scramble.
Speaker 1 (01:33:06):
This has been the Zach Taylor press conference on the
official home of the Bengals, Cincinnatis, ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 3 (01:33:14):
There you go, Zach Taylor. So we've heard from Joe.
Speaker 2 (01:33:17):
We've heard from Zach as the Bengals get ready for
Monday Night against the Cowboys. Let's take a break and
we'll come back with the Brendan Soresby news called a
little bit of an audible. We'll catch up with Kegan
Nickolson talk some Brendan Soresby, maybe a little signing day,
maybe a little Bearcats basketball after this. Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 1 (01:33:41):
Cincinnati's es ball in Thenetti brought to you in part
by Blood Light and by Skyline Shilly on the official
home of the Bengals Cincinnatis, ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 2 (01:34:00):
Rolling right along since that he's ESPN fifteen thirty, Chad Brenda,
that's not Tupac, that's Kendrick Lamar.
Speaker 17 (01:34:07):
I kin every day a new russion to MEPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
Kegan just got back from the gym. I know he
was bumping k dot to and from the gym. Weren't you, Keen?
Speaker 5 (01:34:22):
Oh sure, whatever you say?
Speaker 10 (01:34:24):
So wait, were you saying it wasn't Tupac because he
sampled Tupac?
Speaker 2 (01:34:30):
No, he actually like the the cadence and flow sound
it was. He basically tried to sound exactly like Tupac
on that song, and it wasn't Tupac, So it was
an homage to Tupac.
Speaker 10 (01:34:43):
What's your opinion. I feel like there's a lot of sampling,
and I feel like it's because a lot of people
are lacking creativity.
Speaker 2 (01:34:50):
Uh, Kegan, I don't know if you're familiar with hip
hop at all, but hip hop was essentially like the
the the entire foundation of hip hop is.
Speaker 6 (01:34:59):
Sampling off of motown stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:35:03):
Yeah, just old you know, if you go back to
like the early eighties or late eight mid eighties, early
nineties hip hop, there's always it's always sampled from something
that came before it in the sixties and seventies. So
that's that's kind of how the entire genre was built.
Speaker 5 (01:35:18):
Yeah, okay, got it.
Speaker 3 (01:35:20):
So there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:35:21):
It's a that's a music education lesson for you there. Also,
did you know that I don't think you're going to
be back on Sincy three to sixty ever?
Speaker 7 (01:35:32):
Again, what is it?
Speaker 5 (01:35:34):
Because I didn't do a Pike tribute.
Speaker 2 (01:35:37):
Yeah, you didn't do a Pike Ben's tribute today, and
Tony was very upset about it, and I think he
said he has eliminated you from the rotation on since
he three sixty.
Speaker 10 (01:35:48):
Yeah, I highly doubt that's going to happen.
Speaker 5 (01:35:51):
I think I might be his guy.
Speaker 3 (01:35:52):
So, Karen, he was pretty mad today when he was upset.
Speaker 2 (01:35:58):
I mean, this was off the so you know, but
he laid into you pretty good. He was pretty upset
that there wasn't a Pike de Bin's feature today, So
you might need to at least put something on Twitter
paying homage to the great Tony Pike.
Speaker 3 (01:36:15):
I'm trying. I'm trying to help you out it.
Speaker 10 (01:36:20):
Yeah, I'll make sure to get that for Tony, even
though you know, Marty, Marty Gilliard may have been the
most pivotal piece of that game.
Speaker 5 (01:36:28):
I'll make sure I give a tribute to Tony.
Speaker 3 (01:36:30):
I hope he didn't hear you. I mean he will.
You will never hear from him again.
Speaker 2 (01:36:35):
He will never He had a bad day, like I
don't think he was honored the way that he expected
to be honored for year fifteen of Piked Bins and he.
Speaker 6 (01:36:46):
Didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:36:47):
He and a bobble and a bobblehead with audio.
Speaker 2 (01:36:52):
He said this might be the final Pike de Bins
celebration because he just he didn't you know, he didn't
feel the love. I called an old teammate of his,
tried to cheer him up. It just didn't work. And
he aimed a lot of it at you, aimed a
lot of it at you. So just saying you might,
like fifteen years ago today I was dot dot dot
(01:37:16):
and then tell you tell him how much it meant
to you, Piked Evins.
Speaker 3 (01:37:20):
I'm just trying to.
Speaker 5 (01:37:21):
Actually, that's the text I sent him.
Speaker 10 (01:37:22):
I was like, I was at Eli Sports Bar and
Grill in Ross, Ohio, and I said that they weren't
going to come back and win, and my brother punched me.
Speaker 6 (01:37:29):
In the face.
Speaker 5 (01:37:30):
And then they came back and won.
Speaker 3 (01:37:31):
Uh yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:37:32):
And you know the problem with Tony is he doesn't
like those things to be said in private. He likes
them to be said in public. All right, Brendan Sooresby
is back, Egan. I know, behind the scenes, this was
something that we had been hearing a lot of rumblings of,
(01:37:53):
and the last time we talked to Sorsby after the
TCU game, he made it pretty clear that his intention
was to be back. But you know it's now public.
Cincinnati gets their QB one back for twenty twenty five.
Speaker 10 (01:38:10):
Yeah, and I think this is good news anyway you
slice it. There was definitely the last five games of
the season left much to be desired, But I don't think,
especially with this staff's positioning right now, that they wanted
to go into next season looking for a quarterback. I
think what he showed through the first seven games of
(01:38:32):
the season was enough to build on, and for two reasons,
especially because it was his first full season as a
starting quarterback. He spent six games at Indiana as a
starter and showed great abilities there.
Speaker 6 (01:38:47):
And it was an up and.
Speaker 10 (01:38:48):
Down six games, and I think in large part he
built on that. But if you're going to put the
last five games of the season purely on Brendan sowersby shorters,
I think that would be a little bit unfair. He's
definitely has some blame the turnovers with some poor decision making,
but the whole offense was basically just.
Speaker 5 (01:39:07):
Not as productive, is the nicest way.
Speaker 7 (01:39:10):
To put it.
Speaker 10 (01:39:10):
I mean, he threw for sixty six yards against Iowa State,
and I think that's a lot of wide receivers not
getting separation and multiple things. But then second, you know,
the second year jump that a lot of these guys
make when they transfer is real, and I think that
there's an opening for that. I mean, this isn't going
to be the same costy and taste quarterback next season
at twenty twenty five.
Speaker 5 (01:39:32):
He's going to make improvements.
Speaker 10 (01:39:33):
And he's going to become a better player, and I
think that you're going to have a better offense, definitely
pending whoever they are to add out of the transfer portal,
because Satafield has said that the wide receiver position.
Speaker 5 (01:39:45):
Is probably the biggest need they have to address in
the portal.
Speaker 2 (01:39:49):
And I mean, from what we've heard behind the scenes,
Soorsby is actively he might as well be in the
recruiting department at this point in time because he is
trying to find him self help. He is out there
mining the fields for wide receivers to come in and
help this offense.
Speaker 10 (01:40:09):
Yeah, and I think that just speaks to one his
leadership and two how much he loves Cincinnati and the
short time that he's been here. He didn't have to
tell you when you ask them where he's going to
be next year, he didn't have to say, you know,
I'm coming back. Whatever negotiations they had about a new deal,
he went into it with the underlying thought that he
(01:40:30):
was going to come back to Cincinnati. He could have said,
you know, I'm going to explore my options. You never
know what's going to happen, and then he could have
gotten a big deal and then left.
Speaker 5 (01:40:37):
But I think as much as he.
Speaker 10 (01:40:39):
Wants to improve, he wants Cincinnati to win football games
next year, and he'd be the first person to tell
you that how he performed at the end of the
season is not up to par and he needs to
get better. And I think that he will just kind
of showing the because he showed the intangibles that he
has this season, especially early on, and then you think,
(01:41:00):
could he have Joe royerback next year at that tight
end position. You don't know about that yet, but that's
definitely a possibility and that's going to be a big plus.
Speaker 5 (01:41:10):
But I mean, that's the new age we're in.
Speaker 10 (01:41:12):
It's it's kind of the wild West of players, purty players,
and you have to get these guys by any things possible.
Speaker 2 (01:41:21):
The residual effect of this is, you know, you've talked
about it a little bit earlier, is knowing QB one
is in the fold and it all starts and begins
and ends with quarterback. And if they're going to have
success in twenty twenty five, the reason they're going to
have success in twenty twenty five is largely because Brendon
(01:41:42):
Sorosby has a good year. What are the outside of
getting new wide receivers, you know, continuing to upgrade the
talent level in that room. Where do you think he
can improve the most as he looks to take that
jump from year one in the system to year two.
Speaker 5 (01:42:00):
I think it's just not making the explosively bad plays.
Speaker 10 (01:42:08):
It's not always wanting to complete the pass or you know,
saying I'm not gonna throw this ball away or I'm
not gonna take a sack because I have to complete
this pass. I think you look at some pretty big
situations this year. They're down in the red zone against
West Virginia and he throws probably the worst interception I've
(01:42:28):
seen a college quarterback throw, and I covered Indiana for
two years, kind of just lobbing it forward for a
pick six, which it changed a complexion of the game.
And then he had the the fumble when it got
kind of tipped out of his hand to think he
was trying to throw it away but just extended to
play a little bit too long, and then tried to
fit it in a tiny, tiny window against TCU on
(01:42:50):
the corner of the end zone and it gets picked off.
And that was second down in the red zone. So
it's just those plays that kill the momentum.
Speaker 5 (01:42:59):
That's what he has to limit.
Speaker 10 (01:43:01):
And then if you could just do that and then
kind of build the chemistry with the offense, continue throwing
accurate passes, and then also get back to being able
to extend the field, which I wouldn't say that he
has to work on that because he showed early in
this season that he can do it. That's a trait
that he has in his game, is being able to
complete those passes down the field. It's not anything crazy
(01:43:24):
that he has to improve. It's just the decision making.
He's a good quarterback, has a strong arm, he's tough,
he's physical, he's.
Speaker 5 (01:43:31):
Got a good mindset.
Speaker 10 (01:43:32):
I think this is a big win for Cincinnati, and
I think he's going.
Speaker 5 (01:43:35):
To take the next step next year and be even better.
Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
People look in at Cincinnati's signing day class. The rankings
are not they don't jump off the page at you.
But we spent a lot of time yesterday on campus
talking to people on and off camera, in and around
the program. What was the feel you got that you know,
maybe you'd express to the fans that look purely at
(01:43:59):
the rankings and say this isn't a good recruiting class.
Speaker 10 (01:44:04):
Yeah, I mean I get frustrations. I was one of
those people who looks at stars and thinks if you
don't have star wars, you probably don't have a good
recruiting class.
Speaker 5 (01:44:15):
And I'm also not a person who just says look
stars mean nothing.
Speaker 10 (01:44:20):
I think it's a it's a it's a pretty good
tell of how good the high school player is going
to be in college.
Speaker 7 (01:44:27):
I think.
Speaker 10 (01:44:29):
They wanted to get bigger on both lines of scrimmage,
and I think they did that for defensive linemen for
offensive linemen. I think the tough thing is the amount
of flips that they had that probably wouldn't have happened
all things considered, if they finished seven and five or
eight and four, not all of them. But if you
can keep Jordan Woods, Jamari DeLoach who flipped on the
(01:44:51):
last day of Virginia Tech, maybe in Isaiah Mitchell, will
Colin Wilson, who went both of them with the Mississippi State,
I think that would make a big difference. I do
understand the frustration about not getting anyone from Cincinnati. They
had Eric Gail and Paul Nelson. They were deep in
the recruitment of Grant Beerman but couldn't get him, and
(01:45:11):
Gale and Nelson ended up slipping the Big ten schools.
So I understand the frustration. I'm not going to be
someone who sits here and says, oh, you shouldn't be mad,
just trust them, like all these kids are gonna be really,
really good.
Speaker 5 (01:45:24):
It's not really that simple, but I think with.
Speaker 10 (01:45:27):
This staff's evaluation process, they were able to bring in
guys like Tony Johnson from FAU had.
Speaker 6 (01:45:32):
A good year.
Speaker 10 (01:45:34):
Jake Golde was basically a nobody and now he's all
He has an honorable mentioned big twelve guy who has
a really really bright future and his NFL draft stock
is rising. So I think that they brought in guys.
I mean, last year, a lot of those three stars
ended up being starters on opening day. Jakwan Sanks, Marco's Parker,
(01:45:54):
and then Simy and Coleman and Monte Leeden weren't necessarily starters,
but they.
Speaker 5 (01:45:58):
Were getting a lot of action. Gavin gre Over played
in a lot of games.
Speaker 10 (01:46:02):
So I would just say let the process play it
out and make those judgments after next season or two seasons,
and then you can look at, oh, is this recruiting
class good or bad? Because basement just off of when
they sign isn't exactly fair because you're just looking at stars.
You have to base it off how they contribute to
(01:46:23):
the program and if they bring success. And this cuss
very well might not bring success and their frustrations might
be vindicated, but you have to give them time to
develop and be able to have an opportunity to contribute.
Speaker 2 (01:46:36):
I'd also point to the fact that one of the
worst recruiting classes in Cincinnati football history had a lot
of guys on the field on that pike to Ben's
Day in two thousand and nine. I think that class
was ranked in the nineties, So you know, I believe
it's just something to consider they developed, well, that's the
(01:46:58):
next step for this staff basketball real quick, before I
let you go. Panic is the time to panic after
one loss. They didn't play well against Villanova. That you
can assess, blame wherever you'd like for that, but it
does put a lot of pressure now on the Crosstown
(01:47:19):
shootout and the game downtown with Dayton.
Speaker 10 (01:47:24):
I panic if they lose to both Zager and Dayton,
because that's more, that's a bigger sample size of not
being able to beat teams that you're supposed to beat.
Losing to Villanova on the road, coming off a holiday
without one of your best players and Dan Skillings does
not make me panic.
Speaker 5 (01:47:42):
I think good.
Speaker 10 (01:47:43):
Basketball teams are still allowed to play bad. That doesn't
mean that they're not a good basketball team. The CINNY
National Champion lost three games in Maui and to the
point where their head coach said, I'm never doing then
MTE again. I will just do Holme and Holmes. So
I think you can't just completely abandon all hope. And
I don't think a lot of people are doing that.
(01:48:04):
There's a sect of the fan base that I think
they enjoy abandoning all hope. They wake up wanting to
abandon all hope in the University of Cincinnati. But I
don't think it's that time yet, especially because you don't
know when you could get Dan Scillings back. But this team,
I mean, they showed fight up until I think about
six minutes left in the second half.
Speaker 5 (01:48:25):
They were still in that game.
Speaker 10 (01:48:26):
And you're not always going to play the number two
leading score in the country and Eric Dixon and I
think that'll make stuff a little bit easier. But it's
not panic time by any means. I still think this
is an NCAA tournament team, and I think that they
have a good head coach who's going to have them
in the right spot.
Speaker 5 (01:48:44):
Come the rest of this non conference slate.
Speaker 2 (01:48:47):
I mean, you know, and on on the football side
of the I guess Bill Belichick's available. He's interviewing at
North Carolina right now. So you know, yeah, go get
Vrabel who has said there's no chance and you know
what that he'd coach college kids. But all right, Kegs,
get some risks, get some protein. I know you're probably
(01:49:08):
your muscles are probably sore from the gym.
Speaker 10 (01:49:11):
Oh yeah, big old Pepperoni pizza come in my way
to believe it?
Speaker 3 (01:49:15):
Where from.
Speaker 2 (01:49:17):
No free a okay, Kirkland to that Kirkland Pepperoni. It's
because it's because I pay you the big bucks, you
can afford the expensive stuff.
Speaker 10 (01:49:27):
Yeah, the four pack?
Speaker 2 (01:49:29):
Yeah, all right, Kegan nickoson Bearguy journal dot com. You
can find them on Twitter x whatever it is at
k nickoson forty two. Thanks brother. All right, let's take
a break more after this. Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 1 (01:49:45):
You've been listening to a football in Thenetti on the
official home of the Bengals, Cincinnatis ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnatis esp.
Speaker 17 (01:50:03):
I must have hernd the beef, hope deep boat here,
free thrope man, damn call the temple the lamps, tell
him please Broken to the cross.
Speaker 2 (01:50:10):
Cinsinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty. Chad Brindle it's been a k
Do kind of dash. You knew Tarran and I We're
gonna like we were gonna have a day for this,
right had to.
Speaker 6 (01:50:23):
Phenomenal.
Speaker 3 (01:50:23):
If you haven't heard of GNX, go get it everywhere.
Speaker 2 (01:50:25):
Phenomenal And I've heard two different what are you hearing?
The December twelfth or December fourteenth? There should be another
one released, one of the two.
Speaker 20 (01:50:35):
Open not the same day as Snoop Dogg's Missionary Appum,
when's that coming out?
Speaker 3 (01:50:40):
Whatever?
Speaker 2 (01:50:41):
Next Friday is six seven, that would be the thirteen thirteenth. Yeah,
so maybe they do it on the on either side
of that, but yeah, I've heard it all. It might
be a Sissa album too. What a year for the
West Coast, I mean, just coming back strong, Like the
West Coast is back up Terry, which is fine with me.
(01:51:01):
I grew up on West Coast hip hop. You know,
I enjoyed the East Coast stuff too, but the West
Coast kind of dominated.
Speaker 6 (01:51:09):
Yeay yay.
Speaker 2 (01:51:10):
Tonight eight o'clock ESPN plus Xavier and TCU. It's a
big one for Xavier just in that it's a chance
to get a road win against the Power four opponent.
They you know, they struggled with South Carolina State, but
they're seven and one and they don't. You know, Michigan
is playing really well right now, and that was a
(01:51:33):
pretty close game until the final five to six minutes.
Michigan had a big run to end it that made it,
you know, look like it was a blowout the entire night,
but it wasn't. I think they really x really needs
to get Dave on McKnight going more consistently. You know
(01:51:56):
that it's looking like they're there at this this point.
They're not getting a whole lot from their bench, so
you've got to rely on your starters. You've got to
rely on your best players. Ryan Comwell has been outstanding
for the most part since the start of the season.
He needs McKnight to be kind of that that one
(01:52:16):
two punch and they've got a chance. TCU is struggling
a little bit, got a brand new team, so we'll see.
I'm not a big Jamie Dixon guy, so I think
this is a game Xavier TCU has favored. But uh,
(01:52:37):
I think Xavier gets the win here against a TCU
team that has not found itself yet after turning over
the entire roster. I'm out we'll be back on Monday.
Bengals game plan tomorrow. Since I ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 10 (01:52:54):
And I'm listening to.
Speaker 17 (01:52:55):
The radio, I'm listening to a sad bell sing sing
about us.
Speaker 3 (01:53:01):
He got the corn thro t will be your tost.
Speaker 10 (01:53:06):
I just want myself to mat Youro.
Speaker 3 (01:53:09):
When you go on it gets tidy.
Speaker 10 (01:53:12):
Don't act as if you didn't talk.
Speaker 5 (01:53:14):
Home.
Speaker 6 (01:53:15):
She let me play with her Rod.
Speaker 3 (01:53:18):
I'm working late, I said, I'll soon be home.
Speaker 10 (01:53:21):
All around the girl was home home.
Speaker 3 (01:53:24):
Let me tell you what she's crying for.
Speaker 10 (01:53:27):
Why Because I'm flying.
Speaker 6 (01:53:30):
Super flying.
Speaker 20 (01:53:31):
Nay, i'm flying, you know, super fly, But me, I'm
super duper and I'm super duper flying fly.
Speaker 6 (01:53:40):
I mean
