Speaker 1 (00:00):
Watching that game on Sunday in real time, I felt
like I was intoxicated.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
What was it like watching it critically.
Speaker 3 (00:07):
Well, you know, there was a little bit of that.
Speaker 4 (00:09):
It felt like a fever dream at times, where you're
getting you know, weird interceptions. You're getting balls bouncing in
different ways. You're getting fumbles or interceptions that should be
touched out going.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Out through the deck of the end zone. You know,
I try you remove a little bit.
Speaker 4 (00:21):
Of just the variants that you're gonna have on turnover
plays like that Burrow interception was a bad decision and
a bad throw. You're hoping that that's not something that
gets sustained. But yeah, it was weird watching the film too.
You know, you see the Bengals get some of that
high end variants where this is what you wanted all
a year, where your defense float. I actually don't think
they played a tremendous game outside of those interceptions. The
(00:42):
Titans were able to be consistent moving the ball a
little bit with their offense, even with a backup quarterback.
But you get some interceptions, you're able to have some
slash plays on defense, So you know, it felt like
a mess watching it live, kind of on a second
screen and then watching that all Tidy too felt you
could definitely feel a little bit of sloppiness there.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
So this defense is still not very good, but they
lucked into playing against Will Levis.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
Well, you know you can only play who you play, right, Well,
I do think you can start to see a few things,
whether it's let Miles Burk, I think just him overall,
like you know, he is improving like he is. He
is not where I think you need him to be
right now, but you see him just kind of taking
steps and kind of being the pass rusher that you
can maybe hope.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
That he can be kind of in the future.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
I think you get some good plays from fifty seven
out linebacker two, which and then that feels like it's
been coming up kind of week after week.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
But and then hey, you know that Geno.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Stone play him kind of cutting off that in breaking
out is really really nice. You want you want to
be able to see that, you want to be able
to take advantage of a quarterback. So I do think
you know getting that no matter who it is. As
we start to look at you know, these like five
percent chance playoff odds, you're looking at, hey, can you
hit like triple on.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Everything rolling here right way, you get a little.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Bit of positive but certainly still a unit that, as
we all know, needs a lot of work.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
You know, one of the players who suffered an injury,
or one of the players that we talked about because
of his his injury was Sam Hubbard, who suffered it
playing on offense. They put him in and threw him
a touchdown. We love Sam here, He's from here. He
has been a big part of this franchise, going back
to when Marvin Lewis was still the head coach. I
think a lot of us looked at him and said, boy,
(02:20):
he might have just played his last down as a Bengal.
I know you often focus a little bit more on
schemes and what's happening with all twenty two players versus
just one.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
But is Sam Hubbard?
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Does he still possess the capability of being an effective
player on defense?
Speaker 4 (02:37):
You know, obviously you hope that it's not his last
snap as a Bangle, as you mentioned, and he's got
a lot of history with the team.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
I do think there's been times this year where no.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Offensive tackle has just been able to get on a
little bit where we've talked a bunch.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
About how they have to rely on.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Trey Henderson because they're not getting a ton of just
you know ed rusher production from the other side. So
at that point, you know, it's on the Bengals of
the franchise to decide this is a production that you're getting,
which this year, you know, I think it wasn't enough.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
I think it wasn't exactly what they would have wanted.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
So you're just signed. You know, does that matter up
with your cat? With the money that you're gonna have
to allocate there. I mean, we keep on here, the
Higgins as a new agent, you keep hearing things go
in that direction.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Of course, the dollars overall is going to be such
an important thing to monitor.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
So I do think it's a real possibility that he
played his last snap as a Bangali, which is a
tough thing to swallow. I think that as a defense overall,
you're just hoping that, you know, is Murphy able to
take the next step? Are you able to is harbor
the guy that you bring back maybe if you're you're
lucky on just kind of getting a little bit of
a discount, and that he's able to continue to form
that room out even if he's not playing, you know,
(03:38):
the vast majority of stats, I think overall rough situation.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
But hey, you know, you go out on a touchdown,
that's always a good way to go.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Who is the better football player, Chase Brown or Joe Mixon.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
That's a good one. I feel like we're talking about
a lot this year. Like, if I'm looking forward, I
want Chase Brown.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
You know, I love Chase Brown, Like I'm always happy when.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
You asked me about him.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
His burst is really always the thing that stands out,
just the way that he's able to be effective in
that way.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
I think he can run from the gun. I think
he'll run from under center of the hand. Mixon and
are just at different points of their career now. So
I do think, you know, in.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
The longer term, the Bengals are gonna feel pretty positive
about that, even though we had some weeks early on
where it really felt like, oh.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Man, mixing is gonna make them pay.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
But when you when you're able to look at the contract,
then like we're gonna keep on talking about contract these
next two weeks because it's so so important.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
So when you have just a running back on just
you know, Roll gonna be a better deal.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
I feel like outside of just the player itself, the
situation I think is gonna end up favoring Cincinnati there.
And you know, Mixon as long as he if he
is able to, you know, get back to being productive.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Like that is what kind of Houston needs, just.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
Kind of at their like teams life cycle right now
in Cincinnati being in a different spot and have done
as well.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
According Sean said Is with his stats and scheme podcastsumer
sports dot com. Uh, some models have the Bengals holding
a two percent chance of making the postseason, others four
percent of six percent.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Some stuff needs to happen.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Now, They're not gonna be eliminated on Thursday night, But
our preference here is that the Chargers beat the Broncos
on Thursday.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Can that happen?
Speaker 3 (05:12):
It absolutely can happen.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
You know, when you look at the Broncos their last
game against the Colts, they really won that on the
back of their defense, where Bonus is taken depths forward.
I think against the Colts, when it felt like when
he was pushing the ball down the field, I think
he maybe put a little bit of a step back
just in terms of the way that he was seeing game.
The way that he was stealing everything out. And when
you look at the Chargers defense, who unfortunately just let
up a ton of points to the Buccaneers, they're still
(05:35):
a very good unit. They're still really well coached, they're
effective up front. So it's gonna come down to just
you know, is the Chargers offense gonna be effective enough,
because they've had times where under Greg Roman, they've just
been struggling to move the ball, even though they have
Justin Herbert, even though they have I think pieces that
are patmakers, really happy offensive line spots kind of amongst
everything else.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
I think it's gonna be a fun Thursday night game. No,
as you know, when it's Thursday night, it is. It
is weird.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Weird things happened that will look like the Tuggans Bengals game.
Maybe not, but I absolutely didn't chance that. I mean
really any range of out them happens in that game.
So you know, maybe maybe we turned that two percent
chance to do a five percent chance. You keep looking
the Bengals, you know, Bengals need to win out.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
You gotta have the Broncos over the Chargers losing out.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
Obviously, you can't after they they face each other and
need the Colts and the Dolphins to drop a game
as well, so you know, it's it's greater than zero mough.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Which I hope you can tell me there's a chance
it's important, you know.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Yeah, Well, and so I was gonna go there.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Next the Dolphins play San Francisco and then road games
against Cleveland and the Jets.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
They can lose one of those games, right.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Yeah, I absolutely think so.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
I think the Dolphins have that forty nine Ers game
where it looked kind of before the season like, oh,
this is going to be, you know, a primetime massup,
and obviously they have Shanahan McDaniel angle, like you're looking
at so many things there.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
But I certainly could see them dropping that game.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Where the Dolphins last game against the Texans, you know
a lot of struggles for the offense overall, so it
feels like they're a team that can certainly drop a game.
And then when you look at the cultures of the
season schedule as well, then the tight ends of the
Giants and the Jaguars, and it's been a little more friendly,
I would say, than having to face the forty nine
Ers no matter where they are up at this.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Point of the year. But the cults have had struggles
to add offense too.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
So it's a situation where I mean a lot of
dominoes have to fall in exactly the right angle at
exactly the right time. But you still, you still gonna
watch because there is actually a chance, just based on
how some of these teams have played at different points
this year where they can drop a game, no one
is the feels like they're just ironclad getting constantly win games.
They have a strong offense and a strong defense for
(07:39):
every single matsive the rest.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Of the way.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Yeah, all right, So, so Shawn's making me feel better
about the Shan Sayed Stats and Scheme Podcastsoomer sports dot Com.
I appreciate it as always, my man, We'll do it again,
thank you.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
Thanks so much.
Speaker 3 (07:53):

can keep it going.
