Speaker 1 (00:00):
Brought to you in part by modern office methods. On
the official home of the Bengals, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
It is twenty one minutes after four o'clock. This is
ESPN fifteen thirty. I'm Oweger, appreciate you listening. Our friend
Jay Morrison joins us on Thursdays. At this time, Jay
is with Bengals Talk dot Com, which is under the
SI umbrella, and he is on x at by Jay Morrison,
also part of Paul Dayner Junior's podcast The Growler. I'm

(00:31):
a part of that on Tuesdays. Jay is here.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Hi Jay, Hey Moe. How are you.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
I'm doing I'm doing well. I have not yet looked
at the Bengals injury report. Should Should I look at it?
Will I WinCE? Should I feel nauseous? What am I
going to do when I see the report?

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Shrug? I guess would be the way you would. You
would look at that. Now. Now, he did not practice today.
He's been you know, they've been taking him slow with
rest days since he came back from the the quad
injury before. He is listed this week with rest slash knee.
But it still looks like he's gonna be able to go.
They're just they're just bringing him along slow and cautiously.

(01:11):
Joe Burrow limited again, but again nothing to worry about there,
there's there's Alex Kappa had another limited day, so it
looks like he's coming through concussion protocol. Right. I don't
think there's anything to be too concerned about on the
injury refund.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
All right, very good. Has Sam Hubbard played his last
down as a Bengal?

Speaker 3 (01:29):
I'm gonna say no. I mean it's a very real
possibility because he's due nine million dollars next year. I
will say that he's played his last down as a
Bengal on his current contract. But I can I can
really see them renegotiating and keeping him here, him taking
a pay cut the way Joe Mixon did a couple
of years ago. I just think he means too much

(01:52):
to this franchise for it to end that way. He
can still have a valuable role in a limited capacity
and still mean something for this defense, mean something for
this locker room. And I don't think he's a guy
that would balk at taking a pick up to stick
around and taking one more run at trying to win
a ring.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Will Alex Kappa and Cordelle Volson be the team starting
guards next season.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Who I would say no on that. I don't know
if either one will be honestly that and we've talked
about this on the pod. That's that's the number one
mission is to fix that offensive line, and I think
they have to take a multiproblement approach to it. I
think you got to sign a guy maybe two in
free agency, and you got to draft a couple two

(02:37):
and and see what you can do to beep up
the interior of that line. Because you feel really good
about Amarus NIBBs. I still Ted Carris hasn't been great,
but they did extend him. He'll be here next year
regardless he's he's good enough, let's say if you put
pieces around him or he's not going to stick out.
But yeah, fixing that guard spot is what that's the
number one priority.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Has the defense turned not the corner but a corner
or are they just playing really bad quarterbacks?

Speaker 3 (03:08):
I would say a little of both. I mean, we're
talking about young guys and and Josh Newton and Cam
Taylor Britt. Cam Let's not forget he is still young.
He's played well in the past he just had that
little bit of slump. I think he has definitely turned
the corner, but you can't argue with what they I mean,
they played Cooper rush will Levis, and you look at

(03:31):
what happened after will Levis went out. I mean, Mason
Rudolph trying of lit them up. But then again, they
had a three touchdown, a three score lead, and they're
playing pre event kind of letting him throw underneath. We'll
see this week. I mean, I'm just stunned by the
Browns going to DTR. I just don't understand it. And
if he lights them up, then you've got some real concerns.

(03:52):
It is gonna be a problem because he's just struggled
his entire career. They're they're fed up with Jameis Winston's interceptions,
but DTR has worn career interception, their from career touchdown
seven interceptions, and he looks horrible in that game against
the Bengals back in Week seven. So I'm just I'm
it almost feels like a veiled tank, like they are
putting him in there just to try to get the

(04:12):
best draft spot possible.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Are all the players getting together tonight to watch the
Chargers and Broncos.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
I imagine some are Jamar said he would watch it,
just said he would watch it half and then it'll
be his bedtime. I would imagine some of the position
groups are going to get together and watch it. It's
still if it had more of a definitive meeting, I
think you'd maybe see more of that. But it's still
it's gonna be a long shot either way, and it's
gonna be a real bomber if the Broncos do end

(04:40):
up winning that because you just don't feel good about
the Chargers losing their final two games. So yeah, I
don't know they Nobody said they were doing that, but
typically those guys will do that. The oh Line has
Thursday night dinners, I'm sure they'll have the TV on
and be watching the game, and yeah, there'll be some
of that going.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Should I lay four and a half points with the
fighting Ohio University bob Kats against Jacksonville State in the
Camping World Bowl, Well, I'm sorry the cure ball. If
they're playing at Camping World Stadium.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Yeah, yeah, no way, I would not lay those points.
I'm very I'm hopeful that they'll win, but those bowl
games scare me. You have a coach that's never been
a head coach before. They kind of it was such
a monumental thing winning their first MAX championships. That's nineteen sixty.
I think there's bound to be a letdown. They're playing
Jacksonville State. Who's right up, down or right? I guess
up the road from orlandis so maybe they're gonna have

(05:33):
a good crowd there. I wouldn't lay the point.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
All right, Well then you made up my mind for me.
Have a great Christmas. Jay, thanks so much.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
All right, thanks bough.
