All at Oakley Greens. No from the airport paint and
Body Quality of Yesterday, Knowledge of Today broadcast area. Here's
Tony and Mo on the ESPN fifteen thirty, the official
home of the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Hi, Hello and welcome Ino, the Tony and Mo Training
Camp Show on ESPN fifteen thirty. My name's Austin Elmore.
I'm not Tony, I'm not Mo. And we've had to
shift once again our airport paint and body broadcast area
from the practice fields adjacent to pay Corpse Stadium, and
we've moved it back up to our studios in Kinwood
(00:55):
because I don't know if you know this or not,
but it's nasty out there. So weather has forced the
Bengals inside for their practice today and they are inside
the practice bubble, practice getting underway as we speak. Just
moments ago, Zach Taylor wrapped up his Wednesday media session
and all but confirmed the news that we heard earlier
(01:18):
this morning from multiple NFL insiders, including Tom Pellisero, that
the Bengals have signed former Broncos first round pick in
Seattle Seahawk tight end Noah Fant. Noah Fant has been signed,
or at least will be signed. The Bengals did make
a corresponding moroster move already today before officially announcing Noah Fant.
(01:41):
That is that today the Bengals wave tight end Cole Taylor.
Cole Taylor was a rookie out of West Virginia. He
signed as a college free agent following the draft in May.
So Tony will be up here any minute. He should
be here sometime in the next two or three minutes
as he hustles his way back up to Ken. Hopefully
Tone is staying dry and then Tone will be here
(02:04):
ready to go for the Tony and Mo training camp show.
We are also going to have here at some point
today that full Zach Taylor press conference, including what he
said about the defense, kind of talking a little bit
of smack to the offense. He did downplay any issues
or injuries with the Marius Mims. He said that was
(02:24):
just part of working other guys in and getting rotations
and giving a Marius a bit of a breather, So
you take a sigh of relief as far as that's concerned.
But either way, the Bengals are back on the practice
field right now inside the bubble as they get set
for a week from today when they play the Philadelphia
(02:45):
Eagles in Philadelphia for their first preseason matchup of the year,
again expecting the Bengals to play their starters in that game.
Joe Burrow was asked about it yesterday if they've come
up with a plan yet. Joe said no, there is
no plan yet for or how much he will or
wants to play in that game in Philadelphia, and said
(03:05):
he expects him and Zach and everyone to talk about
that early next week and get on the same page.
Zach also said earlier today that it was good to
see Trey Hendrickson yesterday and Trey would is a big
part of the team, can help the young guys quite
a bit with his experience, and that he and Trey
have remained in contact throughout these last couple of weeks.
(03:29):
I was thinking about this a lot, because if you
were listening to Sincy three sixty yesterday, you heard Tony
and I kind of react to those two minutes of
Trey Hendrickson's press conference and we were kind of left
scratching our heads about what is Trey getting at here,
Like what is he talking about? And it didn't hit
me until later that he was referring to the comments
(03:51):
made by Mike Brown at Mock Turtle Soup a day
last Monday, right before the start of training camp. That's
what he was getting at. He said, The plan was
for me to be in Cincinnati day one all along,
but then events transpired and we decided to go back
to Florida, and I was racking my brain. The only
(04:13):
events that transpired were Mike Brown talking to the media
saying that, hey, you know, Trey can be a lot
to deal with. He can be emotional at times, and
then after hearing those comments, Trey Hendrickson posted on his
Instagram story that he was going back to Florida. That
to me translates to a guy that's emotional and difficult
(04:35):
to deal with at times. So my takeaway is that
Mike Brown was really just proven right by Trey Henderson's behavior.
I'll tell you a guy who's not emotional, not emotional,
not difficult to deal with? Is Tony Pike? Are you dry? Tony?
I'm soaked? Are you really?
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (04:52):
I thought about calling in to the race Saint Clair
roofing hotline on the way up here.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
What an interesting morning? How's the equipment is? Mike? Okay? Man?
I felt bad for Mike.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
I tried to help as much as I could, and
then I was like, we got like eighteen minutes. Now
I have to go. Mike called me at like eight
fifteen this morning. Yeah, and he's like, Hey, they're talking
about the potential for storms and lightning today. What do
you want to do? And I said, well, until they
give us the boot, we're there. And it's it's demoralizing
(05:24):
because today we were essentially our tent was like right
next to the NFL network tent.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
I mean it was going to be phenomenal. No offense
at Bengal. There's so much to talk about. Tom Pellisero
and tell Asaro's in town. And about twenty twenty five
minutes before practice actually was supposed to start, they came out,
and you want to talk about feeling bad. I took
a video at nine oh five this morning. It was
the longest line i've seen of training camp this far.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Yeah, I heard that you were out there being a
a reporter. Yeah, for the news room. Yeah, in the hall, yes.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
And as I'm leaving, they were finally breaking the news
all the fans that sat there during the downpour. Now,
Jay Morrison tweeted out that, you know, the practice is
canceled to the public. They're going inside, even if they
were to come back outside at this point, this is
what you have the bubble for. And if it stops raining,
I don't want these guys out there on a wet field.
(06:18):
So we held as long as we could, and eventually
it was like, hey, you guys should probably go, And
when we're told to go, we're not pushing back. We're
gonna head out. But the problem is it felt great
this morning. I know the heat was gone. So I'm like,
you know what, I'm busting out the jeans today, and
what I have found out is there a few things worse.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Did you put a little product in your hair? No,
I got the hat on.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
I found that there are a few things worse, though
not just wet or damp soaked jeans awful, awful to
deal with.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
We could probably find you something around here, Yeah, there's
there's got to be a supply closet.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
I'm obviously I'm disappointed that we're not able to be
down there for practice today because there's a heck of
a lot going on, and at the root of it all,
there's football tonight. That's right, man, there's a football game tonight.
That's awesome. Noah fan is a Cincinnati Bengal. That's awesome.
You were just talking about Trey Hendrickson. We'll spend some
time on that this afternoon as well. This this now
(07:21):
essentially turns into five straight hours of since he three
to six, Is that right? The Tony and Mo foot
the Tony and Mo training camp show was gonna feel
different today because Moe's out, So we were gonna work
on it today.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
You know where Moe's going. He said he was going
to be on a boat. I don't know now.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Mo teased everyone and talked about watching Happy Gilmore last
night and then never gave an update on what he
thought of it. Yeah, not a word, not a peep,
not a word about what he thought of Happy Gilmore too.
But uh, Moe is is not here today. He's also
not here tomorrow. But we don't have a training camp
show tomorrow because they don't practice tomorrow, So from a
(07:59):
scheduling stamp point, it is disappointed to not be down there.
I feel for the fans because there were so many
people lined up and they sat there as it just Downpourt, Downpourt,
and then they got the news. I wish that news
on no. I would have been beside myself if I
(08:19):
was waiting that.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Line, especially because they're just so limited the amount of
practices that you actually can get into and that are
open to the public, and you know, people planning their
whole day around it, and it's in the morning, and
you know, it's just difficult to make it happen. And
then mother nature has other plans. Yeah, mother nature decides
what happens. And that's kind of where we're at right now.
(08:41):
I went, I walked out after I saw your text.
I was in here feverishly preparing as one does, and
I saw your text and I walked out and looked outside,
and here in Kinwood, it looked like it was midnight. Yes,
it was that dark outside the studios here.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
And what I was like, Oh, so to put it
into perspective, when you when we parked down there at
the practice fields. You have to walk in to essentially
the same entrance where the players walk out to go
across the street to get your credentials. When I walked
in to get my credentials, it essentially still looked like
a normal morning. When I came out, it looked like
(09:23):
it was eight o'clock at night. And then I made
the mistake because I'm like, I'm I'm I'm not quite halfway,
but I'm almost there, and I'm looking how dark it's
it's getting, I thought to myself because Pelisaro I saw
him when he was getting his credential and he was
talking to Emily Parker of the Bengals, and he's like,
you know what, I'm gonna hold up on going out
there just yet. And I'm like, no, I'm heading out,
(09:46):
smart guy Tom Pellis, Yeah. And about halfway it just
it it was raining so hard. As I was walking out,
I found I had to try to find refuge in
a porta potty. That was the only thing, because like,
I've got my computer in my back and I've got
all this stuff and I just wanted to kind of
re situate.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Now.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
One of the Bengals security members was nice enough to
give me a poncho nice after I was already drenched. Sorry,
but that did help to walk back to the car.
But I do I I feel bad because there were
in the the short time I walked back to my car,
there were angry fans and then there were two kids
that were just told I practice was canceled that were
(10:24):
then crying because they couldn't go see the Bengals. Of course,
I'm like, man, that's tough, that's tough to that's they
should let like it's tough to navigate. They should let
like ten people into the bubble. Yeah, random draw. Yeah,
that's the only hard part. Rope them off over there
in the corner because there's just no space. IM just saying,
I'm sure people are like, why couldn't you just do
the show in the bubble?
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Yeah, Look, you've.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
Got you've got to you've got to get in. You've
got to have power, you've got to have internet, you've
got to have a space to set up the table
and all the equipment.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
From a from a space standpoint, it's just out there. Now.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
Members of the media can walk in there, and that's
how we'll I assume, follow along with everything that's going
on at practice. Today, But there's quite a lot we
can get to. Noah Fan is a Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Bengal, Yeah, and Cole Taylor isn't.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Twelve personnel delight for Joe Burrow and Zach Taylor and company.
This team, as Moeger put it, was one of the
top teams in the National Football League out running out
of two tight end personnel twelve personnel as they call it.
And that was with Eric Hall getting injured and missing
(11:38):
the year. So eight teams used two tight end sets
more than the Bengals last year. And that's counting the
time that the Bengals were then without Eric Hall. Remember
how excited we were when Eric Hall was healthy and
playing and the impact he was having and how much
they were using him. That is what the Bengals want
to be think of Noah Fan, Mikeasicki, Jamar Chase t Higgins,
(12:01):
Chase Brown, and Joe Burrow. That's from a skill set standpoint,
that's kind of where the Bengals want to be living.
And now you give yourself that opportunity, and now it
becomes okay, is it, Yoshi vash is it your main burden?
When you get to the third wide receiver, you can
(12:23):
now get to what you want to do, which I think, truly,
I think, deep down Joe Burrow, Zach Taylor, Dan Pitcher,
I think they want to. I think they want to
operate more out of twelve personnel. It just opens things
up for more. It helps in the running game, it
helps in play action. I know that Mikeasiki and Noah
Fan are not known for their blocking, but it does
(12:45):
give you more blocking opportunities. It gives you chances to
go more max protect and run some two man routes,
and it gives you matchup problems. I saw your video
talking about Noah Fan, Austin. That's a guy that is
formally a first round pick.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
For a reason.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Tight ends very rarely our first round picks. Noahfense was one,
get him the ball, allow him to run after the catch.
You now have Mike Kasiki, who's essentially wide receiver number three.
I just I think that this move, among any others,
makes a ton of sense for the Bengals. And what
do we have immediately, Austin. People out there that say, what, oh,
(13:26):
they went and got more offensive help. Defense was one
of the worst in the league last year. Offensive line
is still a question this team can still sign more players.
This team is still obviously trying to get a deal
done with Trey Hendrickson. But I saw you put it
on social media. It was it was my thought. When
I read the news that Noah Fense was a Cincinnati Bengal,
(13:47):
my immediate reaction was, the Bengals are now better than
they were yesterday. Yeah, and that's all I'm operating under.
Are the Bengals better than they were yesterday? And the
answers yes, right, Like there's there's no doubt they're better
with Noah Phant And who'd you say got released?
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Cole Cole Taylor, col Taylor. You know you guys have
been talking a lot about Cole Taylor down there. Connection
with Desmond. Yeah, it's it's a it's a shot to
death today. I was gonna say, it's gotta be tough
for Dez.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
I think this move was about who the Bengals We
always what do we always the word we always use identity.
Who do they want to be? I think this move
shows you that they want to be a twelve personnel team. Now, well,
they still run three four wide receiver sets. Absolutely, they
gotta put Joe Burrow back in the gun. Absolutely, gonna
play one tight end. Yes, sometimes the line up with
(14:38):
no tight end, that that's all going to happen. But
I think twelve personnel is going to open a lot
of doors for this Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
And you give an example of, like, you know, if
Jermaine Burton's having a good camp and Andrey Yoshi vas
is having a good camp, and that's who we've come
to kind of know the Bengals to be explain to
explain to people why adding a Noah fan and having
Mike Giseki and that twelve personnel on the field just
a basic example as to what they can do. Based
(15:08):
off of that.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
You essentially can do everything. It is a formation that's
considered the most versatile in football because it gives you
both run and pass options anytime you're on the field.
There's a lot of times I think if you run
out there three or four wide receivers more times than not,
what are you going to do throw the ball? If
you're lining up with your jumbo package, You're going to
run the ball. Twelve personnel gives you the ability to
(15:29):
do everything, and what I like the most, it makes
defenses adjust to the balance that you have because what
are defenses want to do against the Bengals in their
passing attack? More cover guys on the field. What if
you line up with two tight ends and you've essentially
got seven big men on the field for Chase Brown.
If you're a defense, you better line up and adjust
(15:50):
to that, or else the Bengals are going to turn
around and give the ball to Chase Brown and pick
up five or six yards. Now Devil's advocate though, Now
you've got to be onle to block in Kiseki and
both can't block, sure.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
But you still have to respect that.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
You still have to adjust your personnel to that, which
means probably get another linebacker on the field, which gives
you matchup night. So it essentially means you're forcing the
hand of the other defense better chance to exploit matchups
on defense. Yep, defenses have to use larger personnel groupings.
(16:24):
If if I'm running out of twelve personnel, then the
defense is going to have to use another linebacker right
who aren't considered cover guys for the most part, And
you have two tight ends who are are good pass catchers,
because we say is.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
That primarily because the backers can tackle better than the.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
That and they can match up physically, like, I don't
care like you see what you mean? So Noah fan
and Mike is sick. You're not known as good blockers
right right?
Speaker 2 (16:52):
So that but they says, if they're on the field, yeah,
they could run, but they're more likely to throw it.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
Yes, but if a defense tents were to not adjust
and bring their heavier set in, I know, no offense
not known as a blocker, but does he have a
better chance in blocking a linebacker, a defensive end, or
a safety. Right Because if a safety or a nickel
stay in the game, regardless of how they block, I
still like their size and strength to block a nickel defender.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
And if you throw a fifty to fifty ball, size
size and strength to go and compared to a nickel corner.
Speaker 4 (17:24):
So if I'm a defense a defensive coordinator now against
the Cincinnati Bengals, and they run twelve personnel out there,
I can either leave my coverage unit in and then
I make myself susceptible to having size mismatches in the
run game or the passing game, or I go heavier
with bigger players that may be not as fast or
(17:47):
maybe not.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
As an ept to cover somebody like a tight end.
It's just it's versatile for an offense.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
And then if you are getting a little bit going
with Chase Bread in the running game, once it opened
up for Joe Burrow play action, we've seen at camp
already they love Mi Kasiki on these seam routes. Well,
when you run out of twelve enough that safety's gonna
get a little bit nosy, those linebackers are gonna get
a little bit nosy. You run the play action and
you push the ball down the middle of the field.
(18:18):
So I just think that there are more pros to
twelve personnel than there are drawbacks. And I think that's
why the Bengals they had Mike Asiki, they still drafted
Eric Hall, right, they still wanted to be that team.
(18:39):
So it is it's difficult for a defense to match up.
You can exploit it in the run game and one
of the like if you were to go, okay, what
are the cons of twelve personnel, Well, the athleticism of
tight ends is usually the drawback of twelve personnel. But
(19:01):
do you consider Mike Kasiki and no a fan athletic, yeah,
or more athletic than the normal tight end, Like.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
It let's let's let's picture. Let's let's say this.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
If Tanner, Hudson and Drew Sample were running out there
in twelve personnel, I don't think that would be a
good mesh for what the Bengals want to do.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Does that make sense?
Speaker 4 (19:18):
Yeah, Mike Kasiki and No A Fan, Jamar Chase and
t Higgins, Chase Brown, sign me up for that. There's
more space that the offense can work with. You can
stress a defense down the field, but you can also
stress them latterly. It adds diversity into the running game
(19:39):
because you can run to different gaps, and you add
a gap, and you add cutback lanes and again, like
I talked about, it's the mismatches across the board that
I think the Bengals and No A Fan can excel in.
I think it was a fantastic move. I know there
are folks out there, as it happens, when any move
is made that are gonna say, well, you need help,
(19:59):
you know, can we get another pass rusher, Can we
get someone to make sure we're blocking in the run game?
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Sure?
Speaker 4 (20:05):
I still think offensively they need an upgrade on the
offensive line if things don't get better. But it's a
new o line coach. It's a new scheme, it's new pieces.
I'm willing to give them a little bit more time.
I mean it is I mean, we're on the last
day of July and the first game is what Austin
September seventh, So I'm willing to give them another week
or so to see what's going on the offensive line. Now,
(20:27):
if we're talking in two or three weeks about the
same issues up front on the offensive line, then I
fully understand some of the pushback. But on July thirty first,
very very simply put, this team is better today than
they were yesterday. And that's I think a good window
(20:48):
to operate in. We're just getting started.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Well.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
Also, at some point Austin in the next four hours
and forty four hours and forty minutes that will be
on the air.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Telling me this is the Tony and Austin trade camp
show could be.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
I don't know what it is. All I know is
that we'll have plenty of time to discuss things for
the Bengals. And how about the act of Cincinnati reds
man making moves all over the place.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
After a big win last night, he dialed into the
transaction wire all day longer might have been a couple
of other trades.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
With these teams in Cincinnati. Now you better watch both
Man Bengals Reds. Let's make some moves, Let's make what
are you gonna do?
Speaker 2 (21:31):
We'll see.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
We'll talk more about the Bengals and where things stand
from today's practice, and a heck of a lot more
between now and noon, which signifies the end of the
Tony Moe Training Camp show, and then noon to three
for since he three sixty Uh, we'd love to be

Football in the air, baby it is.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
If you went outside early enough today, you could have
caught a little bit of that that air that you
felt football in.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Yep, I felt it this morning.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
What a repri man to walk outside, or even walk
last night and not have to like sweat just to
duel I know, any basic movement outside.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
I saw this from Bill Spiro's a senior betting analyst
at Bookies. He's a calmness for the Boston Herald. The
guy just does a little bit of everything. Listen to this.
The next time there will be a Thursday without football
is January fifteenth, twenty twenty six. The next time there
will be a month without football is March of twenty
(23:31):
twenty six. Oh Man, tonight is the Hall of Fame game.
The NFL opener is thirty five days away. Chiefs Chargers
in Brazil thirty six days away. Oh my god, first
full slate NFL Sunday with NFL Red Zone thirty eight
days away. We are one hundred and nineteen days away
(23:53):
from Thanksgiving football that features the Bengals and the Ravens,
one hundred and forty eight days away from Christmas football,
and one hundred and ninety two days from now in
Santa Clara, California, Super Bowl sixty. Oh my gosh, it's
all happening so quickly. How can you not get excited
about that? Man? How can you not be romantic about football?
(24:14):
That's the best sport. Welcome back.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
It is the Tony and Moe Training Camp Show, normally
live from Bengals training camp today live from our Kenwood studios.
Because of the weather outside, practice was moved indoor thanks
to a door and window. They sell the best in
service the rest. I saw this Austin for those wondering.
Trey Hendrickson's that practice again today. He's not dressed to practice,
(24:38):
but he is there. But I saw James Rapene give
a little bit of an update on something we talked
about yesterday. I believe it was the last three team
periods and Marius Mims did not participate in the drills
and you thought, Okay, they're just getting different guys in there.
James sent out a video about ten minutes ago that
(24:58):
Marius Mimes is there, but he is not in uniform today.
He's going through stretches. This is something that Zach Taylor
talked about. And if you're wondering, we'll get to Zach
Taylor in the Sincy three to sixty portion of UH
this afternoon. But Zach Taylor said they're quote managing multiple
players right now, including Marius Mims, Cam Taylor, Britt and
(25:18):
a few others. James went on to say that Mims
has had a rap on his right hand and wrist
over the past few days.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Yeah, I mean I heard the conversation when Zach said
it earlier. He didn't seem overly concerned about it. Now,
didn't seem like it was something they were worried about.
But yeah, managing and soreness and stuff like that. And
I think Mims has had a wrist injury in the past,
so maybe it's just flaring up on him. But he didn't.
He definitely did not seem concerned about it. I would say,
And if there's a time to be you know, yeah, careful, cautious.
(25:48):
I would say the uh, the overall feel or the
line spent a lot of time kind of just huddling
around where Moe and I were sitting yesterday. He didn't
look like a guy that was concerned.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
Yeah, like there wasn't training constantly looking at him and
talking to him. And I will say that that there's
been a lot of talk about the offensive line. If
I were to go today and say, okay, who has
been the most impressive offensive lineman to this point, to me,
it's a Marius Mems. I mean, there are a lot
(26:19):
of videos from one on one settings where Mems is
absolutely just engulfing pass rushers. Now again, when it becomes
eleven on eleven and there's twist and there's stunts, and
there's different games being played and you got to pass
off to the guard, those things are gonna take some time.
But from a one on one standpoint, he in golf's defenders,
and it's really because of his size. Pick your poison.
(26:41):
You're not gonna bull rush him. His balance and his
feet are so good so you can't bull rush him,
So you try to get around him. He's got a
unbelievable wingspan, and the thing that I think would get
you excited about Marius Mims. The most Austin is he's
going to just keep getting better. He's still such an
unfini product. He's still so rough around the edges that
(27:06):
you know where you look at it now. And I'm
not talking about year to year. I'm talking about practice
to practice, week to week. The more he you know
it gets from Scott Peters, a new offensive line coach,
the more he's able to be a sponge and take
all that in. I think you have your solid right
tackle of the future in the Marius Mims. I really
(27:26):
do think they hit a home run with him.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Now.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
Again, are there questions on the offensive line. We spent
a long time yesterday discussing them and at the same
time praising what the defense has been able to do
at this point, which makes me. I think the thing
I'm missing the most today is being able to be
down there and watch live what's going on, because I
want to see how the offense responds today.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
I have a question, Yes, you feel comfortable putting Joe
Burrow on the field in Philadelphia for Marius Mims. Isn't there? No?
Absolutely not? That was what I saw yesterday. I mean,
I think I do either.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
The right side at times, to me, has been solid.
I sent you I think it was James the clip
I sent you last night on on X. But the
left side, starting with Tarris at center and then Fairchild
and Orlando Brown, the left side of the line was
collapsed by the Bengals defense.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
I was I've been shouted down a couple of times
when I talk about being a little bit concerned about
Orlando Brown Junior. I understand he was heard for most
of last year. But also he's getting older. You get
a little bit slower. You do have and have had
some injuries that have affected you over the last couple
of years. Yeah, I just you playing with a rookie
next to you. I have serious doubts about the entire
(28:47):
offensive line, but I don't know that it's just like, oh,
Orlando Brown Junior is a pro bowler, he'll play like
a pro bowler early, right. I don't know if we
can see.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
It's more than that. Yeah, I'm with you, So we will.
As practice updates come in, We'll update you with everything
that's going on from the bubble, the indoor facility for
the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
When we come back.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
I know we've spent time on the running back position
as a whole, but now that Zach Moss is not here,
you get a pretty clear picture of what that room
is going to look like. Tos Brooks has wowed at
times in my opinion, p Ryan as solid and uh.
There was a recent conversation about Chase Brown where he
(29:30):
got a comparison to another running back in the NFL
that I want to discuss when we come back. It
is the Tony and Moe Training Camp Show live from
the Kenwood Studios today thanks to AE Dorn Window where
they sell the best and service the rest mortarcome right
after this on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station A.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
Wind has grown a lot Sholl home of the Bengals,
Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
Welcome back, since not the Tony and Mote Training Camp
Show normally live from Bengals Training Camp today at our
Kenwood Studios because of the weather. That doesn't change the
fact that we are extremely grateful for our friends at
AE Door and Window. Also thanks to Cincinnati Tax Resolution
powered by TOE five one three five on three toph
Oakley Greens and we are sitting here right now in
(30:21):
the airport painting body broadcast area. We will open up
the phone lines during Sincy three to sixty, of course
on the Ray Saint Clair Roofing hotline.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
UH.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
One other thought here, uh Austin on the UH the
Noah fanse signing. And I think this this just kind
of goes to update what we already talked about this year.
If if you look back to Joe Burrow's timeline with
the Bengals, and we've spent a lot of time talking
about slow starts and how do you alleviate the slow starts. Well,
(30:50):
sometimes it could just be as simple as getting guys
practicing like normal. There has been in Joe Burrow's career
and I don't have the correc but obviously there's been
a calf injury. We know, there's been a wrist injury.
We know there's been the knee injury. There's been the appendicitis. UH,
(31:11):
there's been COVID. There's been all of last year where
Jamar Chase did not catch a pass at Bengals training
camp as he was ongoing with a contract situation. T
Higgins has missed time at training camp before.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Now.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
You know, we have have openly talked about the fact
that there are no distractions for this Bengals offense that
there is no one holding out on offense, there is
no one rehabbing a major injury, there's no global pandemic
that's slowing things down. It is a normal full offseason
(31:51):
and now training camp to this point for the Bengals offense.
And oh, by the way, the news of today they
now add no offense to that mix. Good luck to
the rest of the NFL. We'll talk more later on.
If you missed our conversation about Noah Fan and the
ability to use twelve personnel and what the Bengals want
(32:11):
to do, we'll.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Get to that later on as well. But I.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
Was perusing austin different articles about the Cincinnati Bengals, and
you know we've referenced it a couple of times now.
Albert Breer was in town Sunday at practice watching the Bengals,
and one of his five takeaways was that of Chase Brown.
And we know what Chase Brown is and what he's
been as a runner. Albert Breer talked about Chase Brown
(32:38):
setting up and setting out this offseason to be a
better receiving back. Of course, for years, Joe Mixon was
a fantastic Cincinnati Bengal. But for years, Joe Mixon was
awesome on first and second down, and then Joe Mixon
would come off the field most times on third down.
(33:00):
Think of key moments when Joe Mixon was here, Think
of two minute drills, think of the last drive of
the game. Think of maybe a couple short yardage situations,
think of most passing downs.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
So my j P.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
Ryan was in the game, why because they just wasn't
the confidence there of Joe Mixon from a pass blocking standpoint,
whatever you think about, that's just what it was. Chase
Brown's idea this offseason was, I want to make myself
more successful in the passing game. I want to give
(33:37):
the option to be a every down back so that
no matter if it's first and ten, second, four, third
and seven, whatever it may be, Chase Brown can be
on the field. He can help you in the pass
protection game. He can help you as a pass catcher.
He's a guy that can get yards after the catch.
He's a weapon. You want your weapons on the field
(33:58):
as much as possible. So as I look at now
where the running back stands after yesterday's news, Zach Moss
is no longer here. I think there's a lot to
that right. Zach Moss was willing to take a pay cut,
broke his neck, give it everything he can to come back,
and at the end, whether it was him, whether it
was the Bengals, whether it was a decision they came
to together, it just wasn't going to work and they
(34:18):
moved on. For the Bengals, it's a little bit easier
to move on when you have contingency plans. And it's
something we've talked about on the different side of things
with the offensive line of what is Plan B. There
better be a Plan B for running back. There's always
been contingency one. They brought back somebody at p Ryan two.
They drected a guy that I was very impressed with
(34:39):
at the college level in Todsbrooks, one of, if not
the best pass protectors available in the draft from the
running back position. Watched him have back to back thousand
yard seasons at Texas Tech. You know, you think of
Texas Tech a lot. You think of a team that's
going to throw the ball sixty or seventy times. He
was a workhorse and the pass came in in the
run game. He was a wrecking ball. I think the
(35:00):
Bengals have obviously been confident enough in what they've seen
in him to say, yeah, we're we're good with where
we're out.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
At running back.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
But it was a recent conversation that I saw from
Dan Pitcher. This was according to Jory Epstein of Yahoo
Sports and Dan Pitcher.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Obviously there are.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
Other names that that hogged the headlines for the Bengals offense,
Joe Burrow, Jamar, Chase t Higgins, but Chase Brown will
play a huge role for this team. And this was
a comment that Dan Pitcher made about Chase Brown to
Jory Epstein of Yahoo Sports. He said, I think Chase
Brown is going to be by the end of the
(35:41):
season a household name. He's everything that Austin Eckler was.
I think that by the time the season's over, you'll
all know who he is.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Now.
Speaker 4 (35:56):
Austin Eckler today is not the Austin Eckler that he was,
And Dan Pitcher said, he will be everything that Austin
Eckler was. If you remember, in his prime, Austin Eckler
was one of the best beast to catch the ball
out of the backfield. At one point, I know he
caught seventy or more passes in three different seasons. Twenty
(36:17):
twenty two, Austin he had one hundred and seven catches
unreal and he still ran it for over four yards
of carry over the course of his career. What do
you make of the comparison that Dan Pitcher planted on
Chase Brown of Austin Eckler capability?
Speaker 2 (36:32):
Perfect? It is perfect comparison. That's exactly who the Bengals
want him to be. And he might not be the
number one option. I think there was times where with
the Chargers he turned into the number one option and
defense has really built there, you know, playing around him.
You can't do that with the Bengals because of the
other weapons that they have. So it feels like he
can flourish in that style of offense. And I can't
(36:56):
wait to see the different ways that they move him around,
you know, and just whether that's in motion, whether that's
in the backfield, whether that you put him in slot,
different screens you can run with him, reverses, like any
type of way. Excuse me, that they can get the ball,
get him the ball in space and just see what happens. Yep.
(37:18):
I mean, even like I always think back to that
reverse run against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football
that Giovanni Bernard had and like that was Geo at
the top of his powers. There were times where it
felt like every time Geo touched the ball, something good
was gonna happen. And that's kind of how I feel
about Chase Brown. And he on top of that, he's
(37:40):
got He's so much faster than Go was and maybe
a little bit more athletic and side to side quickness
more than Go was. And Eckler's the perfect comparison of
what that dude can be. And heck even saw what
Eckler could do against the Bengals this year on Monday
Night Football. Still do ended up leaving the game with
a concussion, but beast.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
Yeah, he's impressed. Man, we gotta worry about the names
in Cincinnati now, Chase Brown, Chase Burns. That often gets me.
We talked about Toz Boyd and Tos Brooks. We got
to be careful now when we go to names, which
for me is a nightmare because I'm already bad at it.
But Chase Brown, Man, if Dan Pitcher's saying that by
(38:18):
the end of the year, and I agree with that,
sentiment by the end of the year, Chase Brown's not
just gonna be known here locally, He's gonna be known
across the NFL. I truly believe he can have that
type of year. And if you're gonna draw comparisons to
Austin Eckler and what he did from a pass catching standpoint,
and don't forget four point four yards per carry over
his career, you're taking that career trajectory in a heartbeat.
(38:40):
If you're Chase Brown, that is exciting. That is something
you can certainly certainly build on. If you're the Cincinnati
Bengals and Zach Taylor and Dan Pitcher and just another
weapon that Joe Burrow has at his disposal to go
along with t Higgins, Jamar Chase, Yoshi Vash, Jermaine Burton,
mikea Sicky, no offense at and Company quarterbacks dream. What
(39:06):
about the defense? We'll dive into that as we go.
We'll finish up our number one of the Tony and
Moe Training Camp Show next on ESPN fifteen to thirty
Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
From the Tom recked In Heating and Air Tech Football
We are. This is Dave Laplock and you're listening to
the Home of the Bengals ESPN fifteen thirty. Yes, if
we're ready for football? Won't you hear the music? Can't
you fill a little chill in the air? Didn't I
(39:38):
get your this morning? Football's back.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
This is the Tony and Mo Training Camp Show, normally
live at training camp at our Kenwood studios. Now, because
have you dried off yet? My shirt has my pants have?
Not worst idea in the world to go with the
jeans today, worst idea there. But you're like, man, NFL
Network's going to be there, you want to button it
up a little bit today? Maybe no a fan was
(40:06):
going to be there, right, Not the case. Not the case.
So we're here, we are, We're going to talk in
just a few minutes. Now. This was set up to
happen at training camp today because there are obviously some
Bearcats at Bengals training camp. Jamoy Mays is there, Desmond
Ritter is there? I think part of twenty seven bearcats
(40:29):
across NFL training camps right now and today at practice
the athletic seven really yeah, at practice today. The athletic
director of the Cincinnati Bengals was supposed to be there,
John Cunningham, was going to be there today and at
eleven it talked with Mo about coming on and talking
(40:49):
about everything going on. You know, the Bearcats have training
camp going on right now as well, so we were
going to do that live at Bengals training camp. So
when we get back to start the second hour, we'll
go to the race and Claire Roofing Hotline and John
Cunningham will join us to talk the excitement of the
Bearcats season as well. There's a video day two in
(41:10):
a row now Austin of Shamar Stewart getting help from
Trey Hendrickson during individual drills right now happening inside the bubble.
Good day two of Trey Hendrickson being here, and day
two so far of Trey Hendrickson being a great teammate
showing how he can help even if he's not practicing
on the field. My biggest question around Trey Hendrickson is
(41:32):
if it's the same time next week leading into the
Eagles game and they're no closer on the contract situation,
is he going to be the same guy then that
he is now because I love everything about what he's
doing to help while he's there Right now, we'll discuss
more of that an hour two of the Tony and
Moe Training Camp Show. We've also got CINY three to
sixty from noon to three, so there's plenty of coverage
(41:53):
between now and then. We'll add a little reds as well.
We'll talk to the athletic director of the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Next on ESPN fifteen thirty Inincinnati Sports Station, The Tony
Moo Training Camp Show, brought to you by our friends
at AE dorn Window where they sell the best in
service the rest.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
It's a museum in camp.
Speaker 1 (42:08):
This is a special edition of the Tony and Mo
Football Show, brought to you by AE Dorned Window. We
sell a vest and service the rest. Also by Cincinnati
Tax Resolution, powered by TOE five one three five one
three TPH Oakley Greens. All the sports, all the time,
loll and Oakley Greens. Now from the airport paint and
(42:30):
body quality of yesterday, Knowledge of today broadcast area. Here's
Tony and Mo on the ESPN fifteen thirty, the official
home of the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
All right, so a couple changes with that. It's not
Tony and Mo today. Mo is out.
Speaker 4 (42:48):
It was going to be me at Bengals training camp,
but because of the weather, practice got moved to the bubble.
So now we're live here at the Kenwood Studios for
the Tony and Mo Train Camp Show. We still thank
our friends at a door and window where they sell
the best and service the rest thanks to Cincinnati Tax
Resolution powered by TOE five one three five on three
toph Oakley Greens, and we're here at the Airport Painting
(43:12):
Body Broadcast Area now Austin. This was supposed to happen live,
but because practice got moved around, we can go to
the Race Saint Claire Roofing hotline and talk to the
athletic director of the University of Cincinnati. Obviously, some big
things going on as we now gear up for four
weeks from now when the Bearcats will take on Nebraska
at Arrowhead Stadium.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
John Cunning damage with us right now. John. What's going on?
Speaker 3 (43:37):
Man?
Speaker 6 (43:37):
Good to be with you, Tony.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
A lot going on is always in college athletics and
obviously starting to gear up for football season in the fall.
Speaker 6 (43:46):
Sports.
Speaker 3 (43:46):
We've got a soccer game here in just a couple
of days, exhibition games, so it's amazing how quickly it
comes around. It is.
Speaker 4 (43:53):
It's weird because there is part of me that thinks
it feels like it's been years since we've had football.
But then there's another part of me. It feels like
the off season has gone by extremely quick. It's been
a remarkable off season from a football standpoint and athletics standpoint.
Because of the opening of the indoor practice facility. How
much now will will the team be able to utilize it.
(44:13):
I know they're at Higher Ground right now, but I
would assume coming back all all gears ahead to utilize
that facility as training camp continues to get under way.
Speaker 3 (44:24):
Yeah, the new facility, Shakeley Indoor Facility has given us
so much juice, you know, just in our program and
being able to take donors, and we had a big
group of former players come through the other day. You know,
it's just been so much fun to highlight that. But
you can tell the guys are so excited to be
in there. They've already been working out in there, and
then they went up the Higher Ground this week and
(44:45):
then they'll come back and you know, they did a
little bit less time at Higher Ground specifically because of
how nice that place is.
Speaker 6 (44:52):
The new indoor and all the modalities that.
Speaker 3 (44:55):
They have and the cryo chamber and the you know
everything that's in there is just top notch and state
of the art, so we're excited to get to use
it here soon.
Speaker 4 (45:04):
How much excitement is obviously every start of a season,
but it feels like so many unknowns when we're now
in the world that we are of nil on the
transfer portal, you you acquire a ton of talent and
then you get into training camp to see how the
talent all fits together. How exciting does it become to
know really the unknown because we've seen in the Big Twelve.
(45:24):
Last year Arizona State was picked last in the preseason
polls and they won the Big Twelve. So how exciting
is the opportunity for a fresh start and so many
unknowns of coming together now over the next couple of weeks.
Speaker 3 (45:37):
The parody the Big Twelve is real and we've seen it.
It's actually not just last year, you know, multiple.
Speaker 6 (45:42):
Years in a row.
Speaker 3 (45:43):
It's kind of been interesting the teams that have been
picked toward the bottom or toward the middle of one
the conference and the opposite has happened. So you know,
I think they had the most fourth quarter changes in
any league in the country in the Big Twelve, So
you just know that every game is going to be
a dog fight and to come down to the end.
But you're right in terms of, you know, the transfer portal,
(46:04):
I would say it actually probably impacts with more just
in terms of our opponents, because we've had some real continuity,
especially at the top of our team with you know,
Gavin Gerhardt is a three year captain, not only a starter,
but a three year captain on that team, and obviously
Joe Royer and Dante Corleone and all those guys, so
(46:24):
we've got a little stability. It's just who are you
going to go up against and who you playing and
whot the quarterback on the other side of the ball,
and so all those things are factors.
Speaker 4 (46:32):
So cool to have guys that could have made the
jump to the NFL A Joe Royer, Dante Corleone, you
get Brendan soaresby back for another year at quarterback. But
it leads me to thinking when we start talking about
NFL training camps and the footprint that the Bearcats now
have in the National Football League.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
I saw this out earlier.
Speaker 4 (46:50):
Twenty seven different Bearcats are on NFL training camp rosters.
You now boast the highest paid cornerback of all time
and Sauce Gardner, Alec Pierce, Kobe Bryant, guys that are
now in line for extensions. And right here in Cincinnati,
Jamoy May's and Desmond Ritter are now here with the
Cincinnati Bengals in camp. How how exciting, how fulfilling is
that from an athletic director standpoint, to be able to
(47:12):
sit back and look at now not just the collegiate footprint,
but the NFL footprint that that the Bearcats now have.
Speaker 3 (47:21):
It's awesome. I mean, I think we all feel it.
I mean, you can turn on an NFL game and
and almost be guaranteed you're gonna see a bear Cat
on one, you know, in terms of one team or
the other. It's just so much fun to watch these
guys too. Having I'm going into my sixth season, so
some of those guys I'm finally got starting to get
to see guys that were here when I was here,
(47:43):
uh playing the league. Alex Pearce, I think it's coming
back here in a few days and and we're gonna
grab him and sit down for a meal and just
get to chat with him. He started to take off
in the league, and and it's it's just fun to's
fun to watch. Obviously very proud, and it tells the story.
You come to you come to Cincinnati, you're a Bearcat.
We can get you to the league, and the new
facility is going to help us do that as well.
Speaker 4 (48:06):
I also think about a couple other players in the league.
You know, Jason Kelsey is obviously retired from the NFL,
but his brother Travis is still playing at a high level,
all world type of player, could arguably go down as
the greatest tight end of all time. He also shares
a team with Brian Cook with the Kansas City Chiefs,
which is where the current roster is going to open
(48:28):
up August twenty eight, four weeks from today, Arrowhead Stadium,
under the lights, home of the Chiefs. It's U see,
it's Nebraska. It's ESPN at nine o'clock. Thinking about the
build up to this and having the game at Arrowhead,
and I'm sure Travis is going to do everything he
can to be there as long as well as Brian Cook.
But just the excitement now of opening up the season
(48:49):
on national TV at Arrowhead Stadium for this.
Speaker 3 (48:52):
Team, you can't ride it any better than that in
terms of the marketing of it. You know, when you
play on that night. That's the opening weekend, really the
opening weekend for college football for the most part, and
you're on every every TV in the country. People are
dying to watch some football that means something, and you're
(49:14):
you're kind of right out of the gate against the
great opponent, you know, a team with a lot of
history obviously, and then everything that is connected to the
Chiefs and Travis Kelce and I think Jason's going to
try to get out there as well. And you know,
those guys are as big as anything in the in
the country and they're Bearcats, which is awesome. We're a
city of brands, They're a brand and they represent the Bearcats.
Speaker 4 (49:36):
Talk about the we we we know what Knippert Stadium
is from a fan standpoint. And now once that game
wraps up against Nebraska, you come back home. Eddie George,
the the Ohio State great running back, is now the
coach of Bowling Green. That's who's gonna come into Knippert
Stadium for week one of of the home slate. How
(49:57):
important is it for fans to take it vantage of
tickets at go Bearcats dot com slash tickets to make
Knippert Stadium the home field advantage that we know it is.
Speaker 3 (50:07):
It's vastly important. You know, we have seven home games
this year, great opponents coming into Knippert. Nippert is such
a special place, you know. You know, it's just it's
a hidden gem in terms of college football. And everybody
on opposing teams that come in here and see it,
you know, they look around and they have the same statement,
which is wow.
Speaker 6 (50:26):
You know, I didn't know. I didn't realize this.
Speaker 3 (50:28):
Is such a great place to watch college football, and
we need to make it tremendous. It's been so good
over the last few years, and this team uh needs
it from the fans. It's a lot of Cincinnati kids,
a lot of guys like I mentioned earlier that are
putting years into this program and they're so excited about
this team. But we need to dominate at home and
(50:48):
we need that that crowd to come support us, and
we're going to do everything we can to get the
greatest experience for everybody. You know, We're gonna make sure
that we do some different things this year, and we
have a whole and experience unit that we started to
try to make sure that it's it's really hot notch.
Speaker 4 (51:05):
You talk about the upgrades the fan experience unit. I
know there are also digital fan upgrades that are happening.
Ticket partner with with Ticketmaster, a mobile app that's launching.
Just talk about the experience for the fans and what
you guys are trying to build to make it the
best possible experience that a fan can have for the Bearcats.
Speaker 3 (51:25):
Yeah, mobile app launch today and we're really proud of it.
Speaker 6 (51:29):
So if you haven't had a.
Speaker 3 (51:30):
Chance, get get on and download that mobile app. It'll
be connected to the ticket new tip ticketing platform we
have and brand new website. We've got this thing called Lava.
Speaker 6 (51:41):
That we're gonna be able to use. It's a digital.
Speaker 3 (51:43):
Platform to push discounts into the app, and so really
trying to do some of those high level things. We
know that our fan base is a pro fan base.
They have a lot of expectations in terms of how
those things work, and we think we've taken some important
steps that way. But I Tony, Tony, I'm I have
to do something real quick, man. I Uh, I don't
(52:03):
want this this session to end that I really came
on for a specific reason and I love our fans
and we'd love to talk about the Bearcats, but I
want to talk about you for a second if I could. Yeah,
you're one.
Speaker 6 (52:15):
Of our all time greats, Tony, and I.
Speaker 3 (52:19):
Am proud and excited to share that you are going.
Speaker 6 (52:22):
To be a part of our Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (52:24):
Class for the twenty five twenty six.
Speaker 6 (52:27):
Years and well deserved. Oh Man, And you're you're one
of the.
Speaker 3 (52:31):
Greats, and we're excited to have you part of a
seven person class that that's that's going to be celebrated
in a in a big way. So congratulations, man.
Speaker 4 (52:39):
I I I I'm out a lot. I can't thank
you enough. You see, has UH has been been a
part of my life since I can remember. I grew
up going to games with UH with my grandpa, and
UH I became a bear Cat and and UH day
one and I got the family coming in here today.
That's awesome. But uh I, I thank you so much.
(53:01):
I appreciate you greatly. I love the university more more
than anything, and this is truly an awesome honor. And
thank you so much for sharing that, and thank you
for thinking to me and allow me to be a.
Speaker 2 (53:12):
Part of that.
Speaker 6 (53:14):
Man.
Speaker 3 (53:14):
We're excited you're one of our greats. Man, and you
represent the Bearcats. You drive our brand, you continue to
do it. Go Bearcats and excited to have you be
a part of this awesome Hall of Fame class.
Speaker 4 (53:26):
I appreciate you so much. That is John Cunningham, the
athletic director of the University of Cincinnati Bearcats. Thank you
for your time and thank you so much for that.
Speaker 6 (53:36):
Take care, Tony it is.
Speaker 4 (53:38):
Yeah, that's awesome. I got the family in here with
me too. Man, well done. Whoever made that happen? That's awesome.
That is completely shocking to me. And before I sound
any more like a buffoon, I'm just going to take
a break. We're back the Tony and Mode Training Camp Show.
We'll continue next on ESBN fifteenthty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 5 (54:02):
You drove the teen thirty Orange and Black hotline is
built by Racing Claire Roofing your Homes Trusted Problem Solver.
Speaker 4 (54:18):
Welcome back the Tony and Moe Training Camp Show. I'll
tell you what, well played on everyone's part. Let's go, dude,
I must be the most oblivious person in the world
the Hall of Famer. Wow, honestly I am. I'm still
in shock. I'm obviously a bear Cat through and through.
And love everything about the university and I can't thank
(54:40):
them enough for such an awesome honor. Now I'm mad
at myself because I had no idea it was coming.
You know, Mo gets to me that that John Cunningham
is going to come on, and it made sense because
Des Ritter's at training camp, so you know, I thought
they were going to be there and we weren't able
to do it at training camp and Austin, I can't
tell you how long my wife was on the phone
(55:02):
last night. I was starting to question what what she
was doing. She's texting all night. She was like taking
weird phone calls. And uh, I was able to have
her and uh my my aunt I Lean, my aunt Jenny,
and and my son Wilder able to stop into the
studio as that was being announced. So that is, uh
it's unbelievable. It's awesome, and I'm very grateful for that.
(55:25):
I also need some time to now recollect myself. Uh
So because of that, we're gonna get to Zach Taylor's
press conference that happened before today's practice, and then when
we get back, we'll get into everything that's going on
at practice today. But here is Zach Taylor speaking to
the media before today's practice.
Speaker 7 (55:43):
I think we're in great shape there. So we'll see
how transplatters today. But again I don't know what's official
and what's not, but I know we potentially got a
good addition.
Speaker 4 (55:54):
There or what did you want to ads, and we're
looking at the options available what we wanted.
Speaker 7 (56:02):
To well, I think guys that want to compete and
help this offense be even better and win a championship.
You know, that's I think critical to the guys outside
of the locker room that want to be a part
of this, and so guys that have skill sets that
really fit what we can utilize.
Speaker 8 (56:16):
I think we've got a really good.
Speaker 7 (56:17):
Tight end room and there's ways that you can enhance
that as well, and so that would be that would
be really exciting.
Speaker 9 (56:22):
How did what Eric Hall did last year open your
guys mind to how differently that room could be used.
Speaker 7 (56:28):
Yeah, he gives you even more flexibility, you know, and
you've got a player that's really a plus player and
both a run in the past and so you know
at the point of attack, blocking backside of blocking and
protection can help you, but also really explosive as a receiver.
Great size, great exposiveness, really good hands, tough to bring down.
(56:50):
I think that that's just that's another weapon. Anytime we
can add weapons like that. And Eric Hall did that
for us last year as well, you know, And so
again we really feel good about where a tight.
Speaker 8 (56:59):
Room or could be.
Speaker 10 (57:00):
It's been a position where you know, if she's a
good throw and maybe a guy like me I did
eleven catches or something. But I mean, what is it
about is the quarterback this system, it seems like the
pluck guys and the first year they're.
Speaker 7 (57:14):
Off the game, yeah, I mean, they'll pat a couple
of people in the back. I think our quarterback, first
of all, is going to find you, you know, and
so we face a lot of his own coverage, and
so guys that have awareness and savviness and good hands,
Joe's gonna find you. Anytime that anybody gets that void,
you're going to get the catch.
Speaker 8 (57:31):
And we found out a lot with our.
Speaker 7 (57:32):
Tight ends because of the receivers that we have that
draw so much attention. Our tight ends have done a
great job over the years finding that space and being
rewarded for it. I think schematically, our staff does a
great job of utilizing everyone to their strengths and so
giving guys the best opportunity to play to their strengths
and be able to maximize that. And in the tight
room or especially you've seen that payoff time and time
(57:55):
again for guys from a statistical standpoint, from a Bengals
off into the standpoint from a financial standpoint. That's that's
really paid off for a lot of guys here over
the last couple years.
Speaker 11 (58:05):
How is the way that you've viewed eleven personnel and
how much y'all use it? How has that evolved in
your mind to use?
Speaker 7 (58:13):
I think eleven personnel is probably a pretty broad term
for us right now because of how you view Giseki
and how defenses view him. There's times we have two
tight ends on the field that's really eleven personnel, you know.
And so again we have a lot of different ways
we can deploy our tight ends and different combinations that
(58:34):
try to generate different defenses and then try to attack
however they decide to play us. And Mike's skill set,
Mike can get a lot of matchups that he can
really take advantage of. And whether that's an eleven personnel
or that's twelve personnel, is Mike is the f and
so again eleven for us is a much broader term
because we're rolling two tight ends out there, doesn't always
(58:56):
mean that we're going to get based defense.
Speaker 11 (58:58):
If we're able to have disability with the kind of
the positions, and does that let you free up jam.
Speaker 8 (59:05):
Does that win?
Speaker 7 (59:05):
No, he's pretty free right now, I think Jamar. You know,
it's anytime you got a bunch of great players. It
doesn't mean everyone's going to have one hundred and thirty
catches in two thousand yards and twenty touchdowns, you know,
But I think the common goal of our unit is
to win a championship, and so any way that we
can we can score more points. Our players always going
(59:27):
to put their hand up and say let's do that.
It also gives you more favorable opportunities. So when you
do get an opportunity because there's there's great weapons on
the field, you get an opportunity to maximize that rep
you know, where maybe there's a better opportunity and explosive
or again, it's I'm really excited about the direction of
the talent level that we have over there.
Speaker 8 (59:49):
In the front office.
Speaker 11 (59:50):
Doesn't make player personnel moves.
Speaker 10 (59:52):
How much of a voice does Joe have whoever you
had a weapon like as somebody that he's going to
be working with the day in the day out.
Speaker 7 (01:00:00):
I've been in communication letting him know kind of very
separate way where we're at with situations like this.
Speaker 8 (01:00:05):
So he's always he's always a breast with it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:07):
What have you been impressed with the red zone defense
so far?
Speaker 8 (01:00:10):
Camp?
Speaker 7 (01:00:11):
Their communication has been really good because there's you know,
not as much grass as defend so offensively, you've got
to be pretty creative with trying to create leverage and
motions and putting people in different spots and that's the
part that generally stresses a defense down there. So I
just think they've done a great job playing to their help,
playing with great leverage, communicating on a lot of the
(01:00:33):
stuff that.
Speaker 8 (01:00:33):
We've tried to throw at them.
Speaker 7 (01:00:35):
I thought, you know, Joe's thrown some unbelievable throws down
there that have been completed for touchdowns. I think he's
made some unbelievable throws that haven't been touchdowns that have
been deflected that I stand back there and when the
balls out of his hand, I'm like, that's a heck
of a throw. And then Barrett Carter almost picks it off.
You know, it's there's nowhere else you're putting it. You know,
that's just a great play by a defender. And we've
shown a lot of examples of stuff like that to
(01:00:56):
our team, like these are great rep. No, nobody's really
losing on this rep and try and camp for the Bengals.
This is a win on both sides of the ball.
It's everyone's executing on offense. It was a great decision,
the defense made a great play, or vice versa. The
defense was great, the communication was great, the coverage was
really tight, and Joe and the receiver put it in
the only spot it could have possibly been. But everybody
(01:01:18):
got better, and so I think that's when you look
at the red zone right now and the competition that's
taking place, Everyone's just getting better. And I'm not focused
on who's winning and losing the REP or the set
or the series. I'm focused on we're getting better as
a team, and that's that's really encouraging for me.
Speaker 12 (01:01:34):
Joe was talking about the depth and the wide receiver
corp yesterday and kind of casually dropped Mitchell Tinsley death
in addition to the other guys.
Speaker 8 (01:01:43):
Just done everything you can.
Speaker 7 (01:01:46):
You know a guy who comes in on the back
end of the roster and when an opportunity gets throws away,
he knows where to line up, no questions asked.
Speaker 8 (01:01:53):
It's where he needs to be. He finds that.
Speaker 7 (01:01:56):
Like we're talking about the zone awareness as a tight end.
Like I can think of two examples. Yesterday, Mitch did
a great job. We showed a great one on one
rep of him versus Brayl and Lux you know yesterday
where they both just were an incredible position, both of them,
and the throwing catch was really good and Brethern was
right there. Couldn't played any better. So Mitch has just
done a really good job coming in and just working
(01:02:17):
and and it's a really good room top to bottom.
There's not really a weakness in that room. I think
everybody's really had a good camp. But it's cool that
he points out a guy that you know, showed up
here in January kind of behind the scenes, and and
all he's done is his work and create opportunities for himself.
And those the kind of guys that when they get
in the preseason games, you try to get him some
(01:02:39):
opportunities because they've earned him over the.
Speaker 8 (01:02:41):
Course of camp.
Speaker 11 (01:02:42):
It was yesterday Logan, Yes, yeah, Well, what's been.
Speaker 8 (01:02:46):
The theory behind the quarter of approtation.
Speaker 11 (01:02:49):
We've seen a lot of different patches there, and we
haven't seen a lot of daks.
Speaker 5 (01:02:52):
And.
Speaker 7 (01:02:55):
Dax has been coming off the end, so Dax is
always on a management plan going forward. Cam has been
on a little bit of a management plan in the
last couple days. So I wouldn't read anything into anything
in terms of lineups. There's days where we have a
plan on offense or defense of what it's going to be,
and then all of a sudden, the guy's gonna be
down for that practice and it totally changes the plan
(01:03:15):
and now we're in a whole new plan. So I
wouldn't read anything these first couple of weeks into who's
lining up with who, because oftentimes it's so fluid with
us at eight fifty two am before ten o'clock practice,
you know. So again, that's just part of training camp
and there's plenty of time for a bunch of these
battles to shake.
Speaker 8 (01:03:33):
Out, so we don't read anything into it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
And you're just asking specifically about Marius. Is the issue
there with.
Speaker 8 (01:03:39):
No, he's he's another guy.
Speaker 7 (01:03:40):
We'll get some time to get him through the day
and tomorrow and then get back on the field. So
some of these guys just working through some stuff, nothing serious,
just things to manage. And you know, we got a
game on Thursday, and so a lot of these guys
we want to be able to get some good work
in a couple of days, get them to the game
on Thursday. So sometimes, yeah, we could push the guy
(01:04:00):
through a practice, but we'll pull him off so that
we can get better work with him next week.
Speaker 8 (01:04:04):
And a Marius falls in that category.
Speaker 2 (01:04:06):
How about you kind of seeing Josh Newton step up
in YouTube.
Speaker 7 (01:04:09):
Uh just continues to grow from a professional standpoint, skill
set standpoint, a leadership standpoint. He's a guy you get
excited to be around. Loves football. I think that's the
first line of his resume is loves football. And so
again it's as many of those guys we can get
(01:04:31):
as possible, it's gonna help our football team.
Speaker 10 (01:04:33):
Attitude from in a good sex with Dimitrios seem like
he had a yesterday on Chase and then it just
seems like he carries himself with a little bit of
an attitude you don't.
Speaker 7 (01:04:46):
Yeah, it's it's been a tough spot sometimes, you know,
during practice, but you'd probably rather that than the other
way around.
Speaker 9 (01:04:55):
Defense has been notably vocal celebrating their wins. Jordan at
getting in Jamaar Chase's pace yesterday after a play. Is
that something you guys are looking for leaders, you guys
are looking for you guys stress the guys don't be
afraid to do that.
Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
Be lout, be energetically, need more of that?
Speaker 9 (01:05:11):
Or is that something that you have to let sort
of happen naturally and just let.
Speaker 8 (01:05:14):
It go those things happen naturally. I don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:05:17):
You don't try to forcing that on anybody. Some of
it's good to get you through training camp. Some of
the back and forth that you let go for a
while because it's it's needed, you know. It's we're not
practicing against anybody else. We're gonna be against ourselves here
for a couple of weeks, and so it's gonna get
heated at times. It's gonna get emotional. Guys are gonna
get fired up. They make a player, they're gonna say
something to somebody else. And that's part of football. We
(01:05:39):
we've you know, talked to our guys about we don't
let that stuff get too far out of hand. But
a lot of it's it's good to have that kind
of energy at practice. And Jamar's a hard guy to
to make plays on, you know, and so any any way,
shape or form you're involved in, any sort of play
that maybe falls incomplete, guys may never get that opportunity
to again to say something, and so uh, you know,
they sometimes they got to take advantage of it. So
(01:06:01):
Jordan's made a lot of plays for us in camp,
and so I'm excited about what he's doing. But the
competitivesis has been fun for me to see yesterday.
Speaker 8 (01:06:09):
It's good to see Trey.
Speaker 7 (01:06:10):
You know, he had good energy when he comes back
in the building and so he's a big part of
the team. So it's been good to have him back
around to talk it all. Yeah, we've I mean we've
talked over the last several weeks.
Speaker 11 (01:06:19):
So with him, saw him helping out Shamari yesterday, just
him on the side. How much help can he give
to Shamar and some of those rookies and other players.
Speaker 7 (01:06:32):
A lot of experience, you know, he's he's been in
the league. This is eighth year, seventh year, so you know,
a lot of years, a lot more years than the
rookies for sure, and so I think there's just a
lot of knowledge there that he can pass on. And
that's a big reason why he wants to be here
because he knows we've got some youth in that room
and he can help educate him along with Jerry and
Osai and some of these older players.
Speaker 8 (01:06:53):
And so I think it's good for for.
Speaker 7 (01:06:54):
Somebody to take on that role, and that's critical for
someone who's got his talent, his ability, who's made the
most of his abilities, to be able to share a
lot of that knowledge with our other players is only
a great thing for the Bengals.
Speaker 6 (01:07:06):
You and I have.
Speaker 9 (01:07:07):
Talked a lot about the silver lining of extra reps.
Some of the younger edge rushers have been available as camp.
What or who has stood out to you to this
point amongst that group.
Speaker 7 (01:07:17):
I think I'd be doing a disservice if I led
off the names, because I think the D line group
as a whole has shown really well. I think all
those guys, you could go across the board and say
everyone has improved, Everyone has had their moments in camp
where you're really excited about them. So that's my easiest
answer is I've been really pleased with that group. I
think there's been really good battles between them and the
(01:07:38):
offensive line, and that's that's encouraging to see so early
in trend camp.
Speaker 12 (01:07:43):
When the dbs are making plays against Joe and these
wide receivers, what that say about their abilivia to make places.
Speaker 7 (01:07:52):
Yeah, this is as hard as it is going to be,
you know, and especially when you're looking at seven on
seven and one on ones.
Speaker 8 (01:07:56):
There's no pass for us.
Speaker 7 (01:07:59):
We like to think it's as hard as it is
going to be with with our quarterback and our receivers,
and so again that's that's sometimes why you showed some
of those completions that are so tight, is there was
no room for air here. The offense made it work.
We're gonna play some teams where there is a little
bit of air sometimes and we're gonna make those plays.
And everybody understands that.
Speaker 8 (01:08:20):
Many nice catch yesterday.
Speaker 7 (01:08:22):
What have you seen consistent, really consistent, really come come
far on the fifty to fifty type catches where he's
being restricted and he comes down with it on the outside.
The number throws that are true back shoulder.
Speaker 8 (01:08:35):
Of fifty to fifties.
Speaker 7 (01:08:37):
He's certainly come down with quite a few of those,
which is encouraging because he's going to get those matchups
and you know when they're they're devoting help over the
top of our other two guys, and Yoshi and Mike
have those one on ones a lot of times, they're
going to be in situations where it's back shoulder throws.
It's not always going to be over the top, and
their awareness has really grown, I think of early part
(01:08:58):
of last season with both those guys to where they
ended this season and where they've continued on going into
training camp. It's their ability has really risen on those
specific types of catches because now they've played with Joe
longer and they understand when this ball's coming, how quickly,
what kind of windows he's going to fit it in,
and so again that's that's really encouraging for us as
(01:09:19):
an offense, for those guys to hit another level.
Speaker 4 (01:09:21):
All right, So that is uh Zach Taylor speaking before

I like to consider myself Austin, someone that is aware
of my surroundings and now I second guess everything I've
ever known. Yeah, I second guess mo. I second guess
you and your mustache. Second guest my own wife and family.
Speaker 2 (01:11:43):
At times. Oh man, you deserve it, you really do.
People don't understand tone that you really do bleed red
and black. You care deeply about U see, and it's
funny every day you're wearing ucuff, like every single day,
in some way, shape or form, there's something you see
on your body and to be able to be a
(01:12:06):
part of that to honor you, and you deserve it.
I was just telling your wife Meredith during the break
that you know, sometimes I'll be scrolling on TikTok and
these old college football highlights will pop up, and highlights
of you will come up. And sometimes because I see
you every day and work with you every day, it's
easy to forget how you were really freaking good at
(01:12:29):
playing quarterback, and to see those highlights and stuff, it's
just a reminder and you deserve it. And it's really
cool that I get to work with you every day
and you've been a huge help to me and to
so many people around here. So it's seriously, it's seriously
is awesome to be able to share that moment with you,
and you deserve it. I know you've been through a lot,
(01:12:50):
and congratulations, Thanks Monny.
Speaker 4 (01:12:53):
I appreciate that I glanced at my phone for about
ten seconds over the last twenty minutes, and about two
messages in I started getting emotional again. So uh for
all the texts, all right, man, Yeah, for the text
and uh and the the kind words that everyone is sharing.
I I I again, I I truly I love everything
(01:13:15):
about U. See and uh, you know I I think
of my grandpa who's no longer with us and taking
me to games and football and basketball, and you know,
my my love for for UC started there and from
that I got to live literally my dream because I
got to play for him. And that was the coolest
part about all of it, you know, to to go
from being an absolute diehard fan to playing for a
(01:13:39):
place that you love and appreciate so much and being
a part of some really cool and big moments for
the university and being connected with them as I am
still today. I couldn't think of a better way to
do it. And uh, and to have the family stop
by and and your kind words there, and I know
you've uh you've how long did you know about that?
(01:14:00):
I found out last week? Okay, well that's disgusting. That
is disgusting. That's when you just decided to start the
beard the mustache. No, the mustache thing has been a
plan for a while. Okay, but I wasn't sure when
it was going to happen.
Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
It was. It was in the works of like, how
are we going to tell them or tell him? It
might have worked better that we did it on that
we were in studio today. It actually kind of did.
But you know, the whole plan was for I think
John was actually going to come down. I think at
one point was.
Speaker 4 (01:14:32):
Originally thought because in my mind, because des Ridder's a
Bangal Jamoy maz is Yeah, I'm like, okay, he's coming
down to check out the players and he wants to
stop by and talk about the upcoming season. And again,
twenty seven Bearcats in camp across the NFL, that's pretty cool,
so yeah, we'll have them on.
Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
I was going to push for, you know, maybe Des
Ridder to come over during practice and just tell you,
you know, just real quick, something like that. But no,
there was a bunch of different moving parts you wanted
to figure out how to do it, and then obviously
a wrench thrown in the plans with the weather earlier today,
and we all made it work. And I don't think
it's really cool.
Speaker 4 (01:15:05):
In the time I've been doing training camp reports that
Mayor has ever said I want to bring Wilder down
to camp, and I've been doing it for ten years
and I didn't think a thing of it last night
because she's like, yeah, you're obviously both my aunts are teachers,
so they're off school, and I'm like, yeah, wild would
probably love that. Weather's going to be nice. I didn't
think a thing of it, so completely oblivious.
Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
It feels good to feel the love, doesn't it. It does, Yeah,
it does. That's all right. I appreciate all of it.
Speaker 4 (01:15:36):
And uh, man, obviously you know you can't do it
without all the guys you played with and the coaches.
Speaker 2 (01:15:41):
So I am.
Speaker 4 (01:15:42):
I am eternally grateful for what I was able to
to play a small part in and now you know,
I to to have and now I would I was
going to just rip off Chris Carter, but I could
never do that.
Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
No, you know, I wouldn't let you do that.
Speaker 4 (01:15:58):
But uh, you know, to to know that that my
name will be up there, and then there was so
many unbelievable other Bearcats and have kind of that lasting
mark of you know, people that I learned about growing
up that that were already in the Hall of Fame,
and and to continue that's gonna be awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:16:13):
You know, there was one other person here that was
going to celebrate. We actually had Brian Kelly here, but
he left before the segment started. So h, I'm sorry
that might be out of touch, but I thought that
was funny.
Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
Dang, he was here and then he left right before left.
Listen to the first ten minutes of John cunning in
with us, and then he bailed.
Speaker 2 (01:16:36):
I was also confused because I was like, I thought
John was just going to go right to it, and
so like I have Meredith and everyone in here, and
I'm like, all right, well that.
Speaker 4 (01:16:44):
It was like we were waiting in like the stairwell
because everyone says you paced.
Speaker 2 (01:16:48):
During the show.
Speaker 4 (01:16:48):
Yeah, I told her, Yeah, on commercial breaks, I just
take laps.
Speaker 2 (01:16:51):
So I went into the stairwell and it's like eighty
degrees in there. They're like sitting in a sauna, just
sitting on the stairs. I'm like, you guys, go on
in here.
Speaker 4 (01:17:01):
Oh man, I am uh honestly, I'm blown away and
very appreciative of Do I have to call you everyone
the Hall of Famer now, you like we call Dan
Horde the Hall of Famers? Good point, I think, I
think when it actually happens when the date is Until then,
you don't have to All right, fair enough, let's uh,
let's take one final break for the training camp portion
(01:17:24):
of today's show before we get to Cincy three sixty.
Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
Uh no, Mowagger today. Chad Brendle's in from Mowager.
Speaker 4 (01:17:30):
I believe this afternoon, correct, Chad Brendle from three to six,
Austin and I will obviously have noon to three. We
will open up the phone lines for the race Aint
Clair Roofing hotline, and I think Jeff Carr is going
to join us at one o'clock to kind of break
down everything that's going on with the Reds as well.
Let's take a look at what's going on the show, man.
How about that two for two there? Aaron, Brian Kelly,
You're two for two.
Speaker 2 (01:17:51):
I'm on a heater right now.
Speaker 4 (01:17:53):
Man, man, this is awesome, what a uh, what a
cool and what a fun day. And uh again, I'm
so grateful, and I hope people realize how thankful and
grateful I am to have that honor. We will, we'll
recap what's going on at Bengals practice before we turn
it over to Cincy three to sixty. That'll come next
on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
From the Any Weather Heating and dared tam Star weathers Center,
here's your forecast. This report is sponsored by the Dwyer Company,
the only name to know for foundation repair when it
comes to waterproofing, foundation repair and.
Speaker 5 (01:18:26):
Cookcom ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 4 (01:18:42):
Welcome back the Tony n Moo Training Camp Show. Rolling
on here for just a couple more minutes before we
head to Sincy three sixty. Unfortunately not at Bengals training camp,
but it is still a special edition thanks to a
door and window. They sell the best in service the
rest thanks to Cincinnati Tax Resolution powered by TOE five
one three five on three toph Oakley Greens. They got
(01:19:03):
all the sports, all the time, all at Oakley Greens.
We are here at the Airport Paint and Body broadcast
area and your calls will come courtesy during sinty three
sixty on the Ray Saint Clair Roofing Hotline. Now, I
have no idea what's happened at Bengals training camp.
Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
Again. I've tried now for back to back.
Speaker 4 (01:19:22):
Commercial breaks to just start reading through some texts, and
I get through about two of them, and I got
to stop, so I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
I will get to those later. I've watched the video
a few times now, and uh, every time I see
your face when your family comes in, yeah, I start
getting choked up. It's tough. I start getting choked up
just toatching it. Why the hell are they here? Yeah?
I want to come to training. I can give you
a quick synopsis of what you missed.
Speaker 4 (01:19:48):
Well there, you'd like, there's one thing, and there's one
player we talked about yesterday, DJ Turner. Yeah, and I
just I pulled up Charlie Goldsmith and Charlie's Charlie's tweet
was Secondaries winning the day R. DJ Turner starts with
two physical pass breakups. Play number three for DJ Turner,
this one on Jamar Chase. Play number four for DJ Turner,
another one on Jamar Chase.
Speaker 2 (01:20:08):
Yeah. And you know this was a guy who yesterday
it felt like his stock was in free fall because
of how poorly he had performed for the Yeah, and
today has certainly rebounded. Maybe there was something that Al
Golden told him, or Charles Burke's the secondary coach, or
some sort of adjustment that DJ Turner has made, and
(01:20:29):
today he is performing at a high level with a
bunch of pass breakups and I being all over Jamar.
Speaker 4 (01:20:34):
Chase that that's been one of my major takeaways. Training
camp started last Wednesday, so we're eight days into camp.
I don't know the exact number of practices, but I
would say the defense has more than held their own
so far. I agree, and on days where they got
beat or torched, they responded the next day well. And
(01:20:55):
again it's hard because it's training camp, and I remember
last year talking about the defense having a good train
any camp at times, and they were one of the
worst in the league. But it's just something like to me,
from what Al Golden exudes. Man, you watch him walking around,
and you watch how this defense not only what they've
done on the field, but how they're carrying themselves and
the confidence and speeding which they're playing, it just feels
(01:21:15):
a little different.
Speaker 2 (01:21:16):
Yeah, And the way that you know, Burrow talked about
the energy went out of his way, yeah to talk
about the energy that they provide yesterday, and you know,
watching the clips and again obviously we're not there, but
it does feel like to me that the offense is
still making place. The offense is still you know, Burrow
hit t. Higgins deep down the field for a big completion.
(01:21:38):
So it is like it seems to me like a
really good back and forth between the offense and the defense.
But today it's the secondary that's outshining more than just
about anyone else. So I wish that we would hear
from Joe after a day like today to see what
he would have to say. I'm sure we'll hear from
them when they go to the locker room and talk
to the receivers and stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (01:21:56):
But I think more than anything, it's been how fast
and confident they seem. Because, like you've said, the offense
has had good days, but like people talked about andre
Yoshebash had a great day yesterday. He made three contested
catches on unbelievable throws. He made two one handed grabs
where a defender was draped all over him. And again,
(01:22:16):
no one's asking him to be the the tenth best
defense in the NFL. Yeah, but I would say more
than anything, and I think if you look at the
first week plus, Jermaine Burton has certainly flashed Joe Burrow.
I mean, there was a point yesterday I don't remember
the exact question, but Joe Burrow. The quote was somewhere
along the lines of it's the best he's felt and
(01:22:37):
the best he's thrown it. And someone kind of asked,
you know, can you go into detail, and he essentially said, well,
you're out there, you're watching it. Like he exudes confidence.
Offense is going to be fine.
Speaker 2 (01:22:48):
As we're speaking, another PBu from DJ Turner, how about
this man that's five on the day, how about this
It is.
Speaker 4 (01:22:55):
Uh, it's so cool to see this from the defense.
And really, if I'm looking at a week into training camp,
essentially two of the biggest storylines to me from a
positive are Jermaine Burton and the defense as a whole,
Like those are the things that probably not a lot
of people are expecting a week in the camp. And oh,
(01:23:18):
by the way, Samar Stewart is now practicing. Trey Hendrickson
by all accounts, is being a great teammate and helping
these guys along as well. So I think as we
sit here again eight days into the official started training camp,
I think there's a lot to be a lot to
be excited about. And again, offense is gonna win days.
(01:23:39):
They're one of the best in the NFL. But how
the defense has responded and at times how difficult the
defense has made it on Joe Burrowing Company is a
great step forward. Good on Al Golden because he's been
tasked with something that's very difficult. So that's awesome. The
Al Golden side is awesome. We'll talk about some of
(01:24:02):
maybe the concerns, and I think we certainly have because
of what the offensive line play has been. But you know,
it's it's unique. Have we said anything about Genostone at
Camp No And is that good or bad? I think
that's good? Right, Yeah, I guess I said Jordan Battle
made a great play yesterday, but we hadn't talked much
about Jordan Battle. If you're not talking about the safeties,
that's probably.
Speaker 2 (01:24:22):
A good thing. Yeah right. I mean, we'll see what
happens when they have to make tackles in the run game,
which was a big part of Genostone not being very
good last year. But overall it's not like, oh, Genostone
got torched on that play. Yeah. You know, the word
that I keep hearing is sticky. Guys are sticky, sticky,
ikey icky uh huh in coverage and that's a good thing.
(01:24:48):
What a fun show. The Tony and Mooe Training Camp
show was and now we're gonna switch it over to
since E three sixty. Yeah, and we're gonna have Jeff
car at one o'clock to talk about the Reds. Yeah,
and we'll have Chad in for quick kids talkbacks. We'll
have talkbacks with Roofing Hotline. But also it's celebrate the
Hall of Famertime Pike Day.
Speaker 4 (01:25:06):
On I did sixty, John Cunningham was nice enough to
just send me a message and clarify that, uh, everything
is scheduled right now for the night before the Baylor game,
which would be October twenty fourth, okay bank October twenty fourth.
Of course, the Bearcats played host to Baylor. I think
the next day.
Speaker 2 (01:25:23):
You know, last year we had you interview Marty Gilliard.
I think you should interview yourself on the show this year.
Ask myself question that Friday. You should interview yourself as
I you just go back and forth from microphone to microphone,
as uh.
Speaker 4 (01:25:44):
As I try to read some of the text messages.
Moe was nice enough to send one and uh he
said he almost had to call in to tell me
to pull myself together.
Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
So I appreciate that you're never going to get a
pass with MO.
Speaker 4 (01:25:56):
I appreciate that from Mo as well, since he three
sixty is next the Tony Mo Training Camp show.
Speaker 2 (01:26:02):
Hold on before we do that, did you? I don't
know if anybody heard that, but there was an alarm
that just went off. Now this is this is every
day you want some Tony Pike lore. Yeah, every day
at eleven fifty seven, his phone goes off. It is alarm.
It is an alarm to remind him show that he
starts a talk show.
Speaker 4 (01:26:22):
And sometimes you get to talking around the office and
like the other day, we were talking to Josh Sneed
and Darren over at Cinty Shirts and the alarm one off.
Speaker 2 (01:26:32):
It's like, holy cow. At three minutes till the.
Speaker 4 (01:26:33):
Show starts, there's a little insight to what's coming next.
Since the three sixty, what an awesome show one I
will I will never ever forget right
Speaker 2 (01:26:43):
Here on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station
