Speaker 2 (00:00):
Tony.
Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Bengals finished up their last practice before Thursday night's
preseason opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. We have enjoyed watching practice.
I'm not at all going to enjoy watching on Thursday.
This is a necessary evil. Joe Burrow playing in the preseason,
which means more than at any point, the offensive line
is very much in clear focus. We're going to be
(00:22):
watching them very very closely. And that starts with Dylan Fairchild.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
You know, you like what you see. You like the physicalness,
you like the footwork, you like the explosiveness. Can't you
be a guy you can rely on starting Week one
against the Cleveland Browns and be confident if Miles Garrett
and Mason Graham and company are lining up over top
of them. But for the Bengals and what we've seen MO,
it doesn't just stop at the question there. The question
could then go to the other guard position. Lucas Patrick,
(00:50):
Cody Ford, Jalen Rivers is now going to get some
reps at guard. You could talk about Orlando Brown junior.
You could talk about the uncertainty with a Marius Mims
and what he's dealing with Ted Carris. I don't know
that there is one person right now you can point
to in the offensive line and say, yep, that is
an absolute surefire thing that we don't have to worry about.
(01:10):
It still feels like a group that has a lot
to figure out between now and the start of the
regular season.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Yeah, and you know, Zach Taylor talked about, well, we're
going to ramp up the starters in the preseason. They're
going to play the first quarter ish on Thursday, and
then on that Monday night the eighteenth against Washington, maybe
play an entire half. And that's all well and good.
But if I watch an offensive line that's a disaster
on Thursday, I'm rethinking that plan, right.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
You have to. And the thing is we talked about today,
what is the plan? What is the plan if things
do not go according to plan on Thursday? Because we've
kind of just pushed this ball back each week of
training camp. Okay, it's early, there's a lot to still
figure out. Give them some time, they'll be okay, and
then it's okay, Well, if it's like this in a week,
(01:55):
then we need to revisit. If we're next week talking
about the same thing at the offensive line, I don't
know how you can't start to push for a Plan
B because it's not rocket science. Everyone can figure it out.
If Jill Burrow is not upright, this team cannot reach
that Super Bowl in which they're trying to get to.
It's simple, and yet at some point it feels like
(02:18):
it's been complicated because we're still having questions about the
offensive line.
