Speaker 1 (00:00):
Rocky. On Sunday, the Bengals host the Jacksonville Jaguars, which
means they'll get an up close look at Travis Hunter.
The Heisman Trophy winner from last year is now a
Jacksonville Jaguar, and he is gonna play both sides of
the football. He played forty two offensive snaps, he played
six defensive snaps and Jacksonville's win on Sunday over the
Carolina Panthers. What's always remarkable when I see something like
(00:22):
this and what I hear about Travis Hunter playing both
sides is having to have the knowledge of game plans
on both sides of the ball. That has to be
incredibly taxing.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
I don't know how he does it, because, I mean
the complexity of things from college to the NFL, it
grows exponentially, and just the little nuances of the defense
and the offense. So I couldn't imagine having to do
that on both sides of the ball. And Liam Combe,
the coach, said, yeah, he played forty two offense, six defense.
(00:52):
But he's gonna get more. You know, he missed some
time in training camp, so they're gonna they're gonna use
him a lot. I just I wonder what the PRAC
this schedule is like for him. I think on defense
you almost have to just say, look, we need you
when we got to have somebody to play man to man,
because I think it'd be really, really hard to have
him in all these complex defensive looks and simulated pressures
(01:15):
and all this sort of thing, but tremendously tough. You
got to give him a lot of credit. He's a
special player.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
My dad used to always say, and I say this
to you because you're somebody who has two jobs doing
games at the ESPN, that it's hard to be great
at one job if you have two or three or four.
So can he maximize his ability at either one of
the positions he plays if he's having to split time
with another.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
One, if the goal is for him to play a
lot of snaps, like a good amount of snaps on
both sides of the ball. No, I almost think, you know,
maybe if it looks like they want him to be
an offensive weapon, so that's going to be the majority
of time. But then okay, on defense, hey we need
you to play some mand man. There's not much to
(01:54):
that though, Hey can you cover that guy? But certainly
to your point, something to watch they just try to
stretch him too thin. He's bouncing. Okay, at eight thirty
you meet with the wide receiving coach, and then at
eleven thirty you go out and you do the defensive walkthrough.
That's gonna be tough to sustain over a whole season,
and I hope they don't burn him out.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
