Speaker 1 (00:00):
Enormous match for FC Cincinnati on Saturday night hosting Nashville
the Orange and Blue. If they're going to contend for
and win the Supporters Shield, I don't know how they
could afford to let Nashville get three points on Saturday.
So they also the last two matches, and they had
a week off last week shut out, won nothing. It's

(00:21):
been a while now since they won that Portland game.
Feels like forever ago. Seven point thirty on a Saturday
night e FC Cincinnati hosting Nashville MLS season Pass Apple TV,
and our friend Taylor Twelman joining us to talk about
the match. Taylor, it's good to have you. Good afternoon.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
How are you good? How are you all?

Speaker 1 (00:39):
I'm well, am I am? I positioning this game the
right way. If they don't get three points on Saturday,
I'm having a hard time believing they can get the
Supporter Shield.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Yeah, I would agree with you. I mean, Philadelphia is
playing Vancouver, so naturally the winner of that. If not,
you know, if it ends up being a draw, Cincinnati's
got to win this game. They know that too. I
think Pat Now and Chris Albright and that staff they
understand that. They you know, have kind of been a
weird team this year, I think at home, which is odd.

(01:11):
They've been strong on the road. But I would agree
with you and in just keeping it simple, I think
if they win, they've still got a legitimate shot. I
think if they lose the game, and even draw the
game to a certain point, if Philadelphia beats Vancouver, then
I think you're onto something.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
They can clinch a playoff berth with a win over
in Nashville. The offense, look, it's it's got to come
from somewhere. You start with the vander He was magnificent
three games ago against Portland. Since then, they haven't scored.
How do they rectify that.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
They got to play a little bit a little bit quicker.
I think they've got to be a little bit more
of patterns of play for a lack of a better
way to put it, versus individual quality. They've got individual
quality all over the field. However, I think as a team,
for lack of a better way to put it, as
a unit, even it's just in the attack, I feel

(02:05):
like there's got to be a little bit more of
an urgency play two touch, get moving, play a little
bit higher tempo, you know, put the onus on the
opposition to defend. I think when there's always been urgency
with Cincinnati in my opinion, whether I've done the game
or watch it from AFAR, particularly under a Pat Noon
and coach team, they've usually been the aggressive team in

(02:28):
those games. They win those, right, and so it just
feels to me that they may be over And I
don't think this is a conscious decision. I think it's
just subconsciously. When you've got really talented players, sometimes you
rely on them to pull the rabbit out of the hat.
And yet I feel like Cincinnati as a team could
be a little bit more instinct and a little bit

(02:50):
more high tempo in the final third.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
They just, to me, they have felt and looked sluggish,
and maybe the week off is going to help that.
That is perhaps an overlification, but they have looked I
think the last two games like that. The length of
the season, the close matches, all the competitions have have
kind of worn them out a little bit. Is that
Is that an unreasonable way of looking at things?

Speaker 2 (03:14):
No, But on the other hand, of the week off
should give the international you know, the international break should
really help this team because they didn't lose that many players,
right so insane that we're going to get an answer
to what you just said. I think in the first
twenty five to forty five minutes against Nashville on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Night they played in Nashville nearly half a year ago.
Roman Selatano was awesome that night. If you're Pat Noonan,
where do you start with a Saturday Night's opponent?

Speaker 2 (03:44):
And you know, similar kind of hit a wall or
a wall. They were, They were really in sync. They
were forcing the issue in the Eastern Conference. They were
playing themselves in the supporter show race. They're still in it,
but it's a little bit of a long shot, I think.
And yet they're a team that's very interesting. I think
Sam Surge is having a career year in large part

(04:05):
because bj Callahan's really gotten a lot out of their fullbacks.
Both love It's and Nahara are having re juvenated career
years in a weird way. Both established players, but both
coming off in different seasons, if not two or three seasons.

(04:25):
So they've been good. I think Honey Mootar has been
who he is. You know, under Gary Smith, he was
very very much so their goal scorer. Now he doesn't
necessarily need to be and that's kind of the role
when he came to Major League Soccer from Denmark, that
was the role he was meant to be played, and
yet he turned into a second forward and their goal scorer.
So they're an interesting team. They love the ball, they

(04:49):
want to put you under pressure with the ball, but
they also can be had and I think where they
can be had is if Denk and company are playing
on the front foot and playing with a little bit
more urgency, you can kind of catch the back line
in those certain moments. But that that is relying upon
Cincinnati being on the front foot and reacting very quickly.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Well, said Taylor. Twelve men FC Cincinnati and Nashville Saturday
night at seven point thirty at TQL Stadium should be
a great match, great opportunity for the Orange and Blue. Taylor.
We always love having you man. Thanks so much, Yeah, buddy,
looking forward to it.
