(00:01):
Always a great thing to welcome tofifty five Ksey Morning Show for Americans for
Prosperity, Donovan O'Neil, Donovan,Happy Friday, Eve. Good to have
you back on the program, Brian. Always good to be with you.
It feels like it's been forever. It has been a little while. It
has been a little while, andyou know, it like a long time.
And I think I last time Ilamented to you, last time we
talked about this, and I'm sopleased to see the subject matter on the
(00:23):
plate for us today, which isAFP launching an ad campaign in support of
Bernie Moreno. The silence from theMarino camp's been kind of deafening. I
gotta be honest with you. He'sa good man, he's an outsider,
he's a proven successful businessman, articulateshe's right on all the issues, you
know, securing the border and everythingacross the board. But I haven't seen
(00:44):
anything for him. I see sharedbrown ads all the time. It just
drives me up a wall. Donovan, You're kicking it off, glad to
see that. Yeah, well, yeah, we're out with and this is
across the number of battleground Senate states. But AFP actions up with a four
million dollar ad by a significant amountof that good coming into Ohio. It's
that targeted TV right, It's gettingto those swing voters, those voters who
(01:07):
need to hear this message. Youneed to understand what's the states in this
election. And our team's not justdoing it at the doors, but we're
also backing up on the airwaves bygetting that message front in front of eyeballs
and in folks of years over thesummer months. What specific issues are you
targeting the way I see it,And I know I'm biased, but I
was just talking to Brionna Morello aboutthe RNC convention next week and the issue
(01:33):
of immigration and the insanity that theBiden administration's brought about. These left wing
leaning cities have become overwhelmed, somuch so that even New York is now
getting ready to pass legislation reversing itssanctuary city laws. And Eric Adams,
of all people, is in favorof this because they're overwhelmed. So that's
one issue that's got a whole lotof Democrats considering even voting for Donald Trump,
(01:56):
and he's woodling away at the votersin New York so much so that
they're calling it an in play state. So we win our side of the
Ledger wins all day long on thatone issue. Are you going to be
highlighting that? Are you going tofocus on other issues? What's the direction
of the ad campaign, how youspoke, how you get planning on reaching
these independent voters and convincing them.Well, we're finding whether it's the conversations
(02:20):
are folks at AFPI Action have onthe door with voters, one to one
focus groups, pulling, you know, talking to folks across the state,
what voters are really looking for andfor this way both camps. You've got
your Republican base, your Democrat base. They're going to turn out for their
candidate no matter what when November comesaround. Right, we're talking about that
swing voter, that independent voter, and believe it or not, there out
(02:43):
there. I've seen them, I'vetalked to them. They exist. Oh
sure, here's what they care aboutand what our ads are targeting and focused
on. They know Shared Brown hasbeen in office for fifty years. They
know he's been a Senator for anumber of years. What they don't know
is his actual record and how hisrecord has helped we harm them and so
what our opportunity here to do thatwe're doing through these ads is communicating what
(03:07):
his record has cost Ohioans. It'sa failed border policy, it's an open
southern border and northern border for thatmatter. It's trillions in new spending that
is driving up the costs of everythingfrom gasoline to grocery stores. But here's
the trick, Brian, and yougot to do it all in fifteen to
thirty seconds. It's not enough tojust say with the other guys done wrong.
(03:28):
You got to communicate with the whatyour guy right, Bernie Moreno is
going to do differently, And sothat's part of what we're highlighting. As
well as a businessman, as animmigrant who came here legally at a young
age, he understands what the Americandream can be because he's lived it and
he knows he wants to make hewants to insure it for the next generation.
But as a businessman, he's alsoseen that impact, the negative impact
(03:50):
of a government bureaucracy, a federalgovernment out of control. And so that's
part of what we're communicating is thatcontrast that shared Brown through his time has
cost you more and put American anda lesson your situation. We need someone
like Bernie Moreno who's miss security, border and rain in the out of control
government spending. All right, Now, you're you're considered an AFP action,
You're considered a political action committee inthis regard. Yes, so this is
(04:14):
all through AFP action. It's afive twenty seven. I serve as a
senior advisor. You're in Ohio forthat organization. Okay, so you're you're
you're operating independently of the Moreno camp. It's it's not coordinated in any way.
No, it can't be coordinated inany way. Right, Okay,
I just again, I'm going backto my you know, where's Bernie Moreno
been kind of thing. You know, you're being an independent political action committe.
(04:35):
You guys could have hit the groundrunning last year. You're doing it
now. I get it. Yougot all the flexibility in the world.
And again, I'm glad that youare putting money and resources into the state
of Ohio for this very very importantcampaign. But I guess do you have
any concerns about Moreno's camp not gettingoff the dime here, at least as
I perceive it, or do Ihave a misconception about the silence from that
(04:57):
side. Yeah, I'm hesitant totell you you're wrong, you're Brian,
because I respect you a lot.But what I'll tell you is what I'm
seeing, and I think we seethis. We've got to kind of refresh
our memory and talk to folks who'vebeen in the who've been in Ohio politics
for a long time. We're inthe summer months. Things really don't get
going in Ohio or really across thecountry until especially in the presidential year and
(05:20):
talk to the conventions are completed andwe really get over that Labor Day hump.
I think what you're going to seecome September is a candidate in Bernie
Moreno who is criss crossing the statedoing the last roots event. He's doing
that now, just going to thesocial media looking at where they're at.
There was a Young Professionals event lastnight. He's had colleagues from across the
(05:44):
state, senators from across the countrycoming to Ohio to help fundraise. They're
building a war chest and that's reallywhat you need a candidate like Marino doing,
building a war chest because the moneyin the outspending, what's going to
occur because of shared Brown's ability toraise funds and progressive groups across the country.
We need a candidate in Marino who'sgoing to raise the money right now,
shore up the Republican base and thenget out there in the fall and
(06:08):
make it happen. What we haveour organization is the ability to hit the
ground running, and we did immediatelyafter the primary to start talking to voters.
So it's it's the summer doldrum,Brian, Okay, it feels like
nothing's happening. Yeah, looking throughin the rain, and we'll hit the
fall and it's going to be fairs, festivals and non stop in your eyes
advertising, So your your crying uncle. I'll concede that point, and it's
(06:32):
an excellent point. I mean, you know, you and I live politics
every single day. We eat, sleep, and breathe it. It's always
a presidential election here, at leastas it feels in our minds. Other
people have indeed tuned it out,so I understand the finite resources need to
be allocated appropriately. And when peopleget back from their summer breaks and you
know, they start playing closer attentionas we get closer to November, that's
when the real money and the realcampaign is going to start, so I'll
(06:55):
concede that point. I got toask you Forward part company again today,
Donovan and the Americans for Prosperity actionafpactiondot com to help out. You can
click on the Bernie Morina link andtake you right there. There's a donate
button to help AFP Action get thisword out and spread the money and the
love for Bernie Moreno, but what'syour take on the implosion that's going on
on the Democrats side of the equation. You know, Biden says unequivocally,
(07:19):
I am the guy. He saidit in no uncertain terms, not only
just in the letter, but hesaid it on television during his Friday interview.
He called up what was it,Stephanoppolos interview, but he called Joe
Scarborough and pointed out again, Iam running. And what's it with the
Democrats? Schumer going behind the scenes. Oh, keep an idea open that
he might be replaced. You hadNancy Pelosi's saying, well, he needs
(07:43):
to hurry up and make up hismind, as if she didn't hear those
unequivocal words from Biden. The issuewith the money, Biden's got to be
the nominee in order to even freeup one hundred million dollars that they put
together, because that's in his pocketand he can't just give it away.
They are plagued with problems, andnot the least of which they're convention takes
place after the deadline in Ohio andother states to get somebody on the ballot.
(08:05):
Do you have any prediction to what'sgonna happen on this. I don't
want to put you on the spot, and I'm as interested in your opinion
as anybody else as Donovan. Well, yeah, you know, it's been
a it's been a roller coaster ridethe last since the yeah, since the
debate. Oh yeah, I neverthought this. I never thought something like
this would happen. Right, Ifigure, Look, they're they're they're in.
They're gonna figure out a way toget him across the finish line in
(08:26):
November if they could. Right, they're gonna they view him as their best
bet to beat Donald Trump. Idon't think he is. I think what
they're seeing is, yeah, that'sthat implosion. And what's funny to me
is you've got you know, you'vegot leaders in the Democrat Party saying,
hey, we wanna you know,we're gonna we're waiting for Joe Biden to
make a decision, and you pointedit out. He's made that decision.
He's made that decision several times, very clear, every day the last week
(08:48):
and a half. He's in,he's running, he's there nominee unless they're
going to try to take him outat the convention. You know, through
through that process, and uh,I think you also have folks like Shared
Brown bringing it back to Ohio anda Senator Shared Brown. You know who's
who is significantly worried because with JoeBiden at the top of the ticket,
(09:09):
battleground states are brought down right right, Ohio will break for Republicans. Donald
Trump's pulling up eight points here inthe state right now. They've got a
problem, and I think it's asgrave as they dug of their own they
yeah for a number of years, and it's what they have to accept.
Voters do pay attention. Americans dopay attention. And when the facade is
(09:33):
broken, this is what it lookslike. Brian oh And so many people
feel like they've been lied to forso long. I mean, the media's
credibility is shot. You get GeorgeColooney's hosting an event three weeks ago and
then coming out just yesterday saying, well, the guy I saw at the
fund Rings event, you know it'snot the guy from twenty ten. He's
the same guy I saw in thedebate. Well where was he three weeks
ago? How come he wasn't openlycritical previous to that and all the other
(09:54):
times he said he has seen theguy and his cognitive decline. Same thing
goes with the main stream media andevery politician who's ever worked with Biden.
Behind the scene, they all knewit, they saw it coming, and
yet they kept their mouths shut.So I think a lot of people feel
as though their feelings have been verysubstantially hurt, that they have been lied
to. It's another it's another Yeah, it's another shame you to the traditional
(10:18):
television news media and the folks youknow who supposedly lead our country. Right,
Yeah, you're telling me one ortwo things are true. Either Chuck
Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Minority LeaderJeffries speaks with the President on a regular
basis and would understand his cognitive abilities, or they don't. And r Inter
third round is speaking with the WhiteHouse or he Isn't you know either one
(10:43):
of those is a scary is ascary is a scary outcome to have arrived
at And so you know it's it'smore important than ever right at the end
of the day for folks to getout there. None of this victory in
November of the White House isn't guaranteed. None of this is guaranteed. It's
a long way from here till November. One thing that's importing. I'm going
to keep plugging this, Brian, because this is what we can do in
(11:03):
Ohio is get Bernie Moreno elected,to get out their knock doors, make
voice heard, get connected to thecandidate, tell your friends and neighbors.
We've got to be shared brown inNovember so we can secure a Republican majority.
Stop and most importantly stop it progressiverule in Washington in the US.
Sigmate AFP actions all over you canhelp them out. Afpaction dot com.
(11:24):
