We have sad news to talk about on the show
this morning. Liam Payne, one of the guys from One Direction,
died in wuennos Eras yesterday, thirty one years old. Now,
the early reports, and you never know, but the early
reports say he fell from the balcony of its hotel.
(01:37):
There are reports he was acting very erratically in the hotel,
so much so that management did call the police. And
there's another report that says there was a smash television
found in his room and he was just acting a
little well, he was upset.

And he was alone, supposed to me, because the girlfriend
that had been with him in Argentina, they had originally
gone to see the Nile Horn Show, but that was
two weeks.

Ago, so extended vacation, right, and then.

She left two or three days ago, so, and she
was posting about her being back in the US.

Right, which she was interesting because he was posting on
his snapchat that it's all to lead now when they
were playing polo, like probably over the weekend in Argentina
in like the countryside, and she had said on it,
oh I'm going He's like, oh, you're going home. She's like, yeah,
I need to go home. And then she like vlogged
about it on her TikTok that she was she went
home a couple days ago because she was like.

We were there for too long. I got to go home, right.

Yeah, it's just a very tragic story, you know, thirty
one years old, so young, and then I think about
as his child.

terrible tragy.

Byams because they just went on and solo, and he
was very sweet.

dead this morning at thirty one years old. Reports say
he fell from a third floor balcony in Buenos Aire's.
Reports also say he was acting erratically in the hotel.
There was a smash television in his hotel room. Management
actually did call police. There is an emergency call Lisa

and I listened to it this morning, but it's all
in Spanish. And this, by the way, was Liam's final
post about an hour before he died. Good morning everybody.

and it was just toxic, and then he was shocking
her and all this now and then now she talks
it was on a podcast like a couple of days ago,
and then now this happens.

I think the death thing, you know, it plays, it
kind of goes with you know, he had his struggles
drug addiction and mental health. I think they all kind
of come into play here.

But the fact that he's been so open about his
struggles for so long.

who was wrong in this situation. Apparently it started they
pulled them over because of tinted windows. There's a law

in some states, including Massachusetts, the windows can only be
tinted to some degree. I was actually pulled over once
in Massachusetts, but apparently things god ugly. Christian Barmore is
saying it was racism at its best, at its finest.
But I'm guessing we'll hear more about this story. Keep
in mind, the Patriots played the Jaguars in London on Sunday.

Last night, my childhood best friend, who I very very
rarely talked to, actually reached out to me, and we
spent the night talking about Liam in One Direction and
how we grew up on them and everything like that,

it was nice to catch up with her and talk
about something that you know, means so much to us
and meant so much to us.

Yeah, if you're just waking up this morning, a lot
of people waking up haven't heard the story. Liam Payne
from One Direction, thirty one years old is dead apparently
fell off a balcony and win as earas And it's
just a tragic story. Just an incredibly successful career as
One Direction as a solo artist, and I guess had

been struggling right justin for a while.

Yeah, it's well documented he struggled with drug addiction. He
had some mental health issues, but he had gotten help,
He went to rehab, he got sober, was doing better.
So you know, I don't know what happened, you know,
right before his death, but you know it's tragic either way.
Thirty one years old, a young father, young child, seven
years old.

And also he was there to see one of his
bandmates from One Direction, Nile Horn, performing there two weeks ago.
And that's why he originally went to sort of see
him and talk to him.

So that just makes it even more.

Sad to me.

But my hope is that something this tragic can be
a reminder to everyone right about what was going on
with him.

Yeah, and it's also a reminder that life is so short, right,
so precious, and in a moment time, it can be

as tragic as it is, you know, sometimes things like
death brings people together. You know, her and her child friend,
they grew up listening to one direction. I know there
was a lot of our listeners out there that grew up, oh,
listening to one direction.

Michelle and her husband Mike, when Liam came into this station,
I think it was twenty seventeen as a solo act,
and you know, we were doing interviews with Liam and everything.
I had invited my niece and her husband and their
kids back in twenty seventeen to come on in because
they were huge fans, and they remember coming into Kiss

and having getting to meet Liam Pain.

Yeah.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
I remember when he came into Super Nice at Kiss
concert Super Nice, and even you know, right before he died,
this video.
Speaker 6 (24:49):
Of him with fans, signing things, taking pictures he posted
on Snapchat. It might have been a couple of days old,
but he seemed to be in good spirits.

Yeah. You and I were looking at the video of
Liam and the I think it was the lobby of
the hotel, possibly the airport. Yeah, he was meeting with
fans and signing autographs and.

Laughing, and it makes it that much harder to understand
what was going on with him.

Yeah, and there's a lot of, you know, you know,
theories of what was going on. None of them we
don't know what's true and what's not. So you know,
the facts are that, you know, he died at thirty
one years old.

Yeah, you know, he had his struggles.

We don't know what exactly happened, but this is us
remembering him and as an artist and a friend of
the radio station.

Yeah, and we want to try as much as we
can to make it a tribute and not focus on
any of the gossip and you know what may or
may not have been in his room, and that that's
not for us.

So in the entertainment we talked about his audition on
The X Factor and how he came in and Simon
said no, and then he came back two years later
and Simon said yes. But he also revealed that Simon
Cowell wanted him to be the face of the group,
like he started the group based around Liam Payne.

From what I've heard is that like part of the
reason when the direction and was made was because of
Simon's promise to me that in two years I'll make
this work for you.

So he kind of started with my face and then

like last year. The first person they picked was actually Nile.
There's video footage of them picking Nile as the first boy. Like,

been debugging his lies the last worked on TikTok because

he has been lying, and I think I don't know
if he sees what everyone says about him, but I've
seen what everyone says about him.

in recovery a long time, many years, and it doesn't
matter how many years, but I just wanted to say
that my hot goes out to the people that have
connected to Liam as family, as friends. When I hear
stories like this, you know, I know what I usually

go to it's a couple of things to either addiction,
especially when they are so young, addiction or suicide. Those
are the things I usually go to, and those two
are kind of connected to each other. And I just
wanted to put it shut out to justin. I think
what you do, I guess went away with your recovery
is phenomenal. I really do to put it out there

and just not hide it, and to tell your story.
I love hearing you talk about your story and your
recovery is phenomenal. I really enjoy that. And I have
my own story obviously, like everybody does that's connected to
alcohol or drug addiction in some way.

getting obviously, so I mean, it takes so little to

the bigger issues that you know, I wish was dealt with.
But besides that, also too, I do I do want
to say that. I have to say justin being being
a daughter of somebody who has thirty five years sobriety,
it's so huge what you're doing. I know you're humble,

but I just I just think you're so wonderful and
amazing and again you're you know what down the line
for you and your family, Like what you're doing is
going to be such a good thing again, because you know,
when you're the kid of somebody who has want, you know, addiction,

We have sad news to talk about on the show
this morning. Liam Payne, one of the guys from One Direction,
died in wuennos Eras yesterday, thirty one years old. Now,
the early reports, and you never know, but the early
reports say he fell from the balcony of its hotel.

There are reports he was acting very erratically in the hotel,
so much so that management did call the police. And
there's another report that says there was a smash television
found in his room and he was just acting a
little well, he was upset.

And he was alone, supposed to me, because the girlfriend
that had been with him in Argentina, they had originally
gone to see the Nile Horn Show, but that was
two weeks.

Ago, so extended vacation, right, and then.

She left two or three days ago, so, and she
was posting about her being back in the US.
Speaker 7 (02:09):
Right, which she was interesting because he was posting on
his snapchat that it's all to lead now when they
were playing polo, like probably over the weekend in Argentina
in like the countryside, and she had said on it,
oh I'm going He's like, oh, you're going home. She's like, yeah,
I need to go home. And then she like vlogged
about it on her TikTok that she was she went
home a couple days ago because she was like.

We were there for too long. I got to go home, right.
Speaker 5 (02:30):
Yeah, it's just a very tragic story, you know, thirty
one years old, so young, and then I think about
as his child.

Yeah, the father he's seven years old, seven.

Years old, same age as my son, you know. So
that's what I really think about. It's just a terrible,
terrible tragy.

I remember my first year here we had Liam and
Byams because they just went on and solo, and he
was very sweet.

was just a really nice guy. I guess he struggled

drug addiction and mental health. I think they all kind

the topic this morning? If you're just waking up, really
really really sad story. Liam Payne from One Direction, at
only thirty one years old, is dead apparently fell off
his hotel balcony and Buenos Aires and reaction is coming

in from all around the world, tributes from celebrities, everything.
I mean, you know, one of the original members of
One Direction, just famous, famous, famous boy band, and everybody's
got a storytell it seems we had some stories this morning.
We heard a lot from Liam and his heyday on
the show this morning. And now is your chance, and

Good morning, Good morning, everybody, Billy, Lisa justin. I've been
in recovery a long time, many years, and it doesn't
matter how many years, but I just wanted to say
that my hot goes out to the people that have
connected to Liam as family, as friends. When I hear
stories like this, you know, I know what I usually
(31:05):
go to it's a couple of things to either addiction,
especially when they are so young, addiction or suicide. Those
are the things I usually go to, and those two
are kind of connected to each other. And I just
wanted to put it shut out to justin. I think
what you do, I guess went away with your recovery
is phenomenal. I really do to put it out there
(31:26):
and just not hide it, and to tell your story.
I love hearing you talk about your story and your
recovery is phenomenal. I really enjoy that. And I have
my own story obviously, like everybody does that's connected to
alcohol or drug addiction in some way.
Speaker 6 (31:42):

And you know, I got to give a shout out
to Billy and Lisa too, who give me a platform
to be able to talk about my story and talk
about the things that I've been through, because it's so
important to get that word out and let people know
that are struggling, that they can get clean and they
can live a better life.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
And you can talk about it anytime you want because
people are listening in people care. I've had addiction in
my family. I know what it's like.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
I think addiction touches. I mean, I have an addiction
in my family too.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
It's like it's everywhere. And again, this is like such
a tragic reminder.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
Yeah it is.
Speaker 5 (32:14):
And obviously, you know, more details is going to come
out on this, right. But Liam Payne he had his struggles.
He had addiction issues, he had gone to rehab, he
got sober, mental health issues.
Speaker 6 (32:23):
You know, those things were really in his life.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
Yeah. You know a lot of people immediately will go
to that place and say, whoa god, he had everything. Well,
that doesn't matter.
Speaker 6 (32:31):
It doesn't matter.

Addiction comes. It doesn't God.

I just yeah, it doesn't matter.

I always say, you know, when it comes to addiction, right,
the guy that's on the street that's homeless, right, has
the same disease as the Wall Street.

Year completely, you know, or the multi millionaires.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Everyone is equal.

I actually feel like it's kind of worse because you
have way more access.
Speaker 5 (32:52):
It is sometimes it is, you know, I mean yeah,
but yeah, anyway, Rest in peace.

Good Morning crew. My son was born the year that
One Direction was formed, twenty ten. It's been a big
part of his growing up. He's always loved that band.
Nobody Can Drag Me Down was his mantra. I came
home yesterday and he was like on the floor. He's like,
my childhood is dead. I feel so bad for him

and for everybody involved.

There's been speculation that Harry Styles is going to come
out with an album on Friday. The question is because
he's still going to release it if that's the case.

Yeah, do you guys hear about this? So the rumor
is that Harry Styles will drop a new song on Friday.
A couple of reasons why. One of which is Shau
Mendez and Joe Jonas. Boast pushed back their album release dates.
Its supposed to be tomorrow, and also Saturday Night Live
does not have a musical guest for October twenty sixth.

They left that out on the schedule. They skipped over it.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
Yeah, Lisa and I were talking about that off the
air about five or ten minutes ago. You know, the
projection that Harry Styles may or may not plan to
release something tomorrow, and we were wondering if that was
the case, would he still.
Speaker 6 (34:57):
I don't think so.

I know.

He's in no position to at least promote.

Definitely person that.

Would do that, he I think you would feel dirty.

We're okay, but like everybody else, we're kind of feeling
it with the Liam Payne news.

I'm just sorry, I'm a little nervous speaking on the air,
but yeah, I just I just wanted to comment because
I say, it's just it's so upsetting to me when
I see anyone passed away from addiction, but you know,
somebody who's that young, it's just like tragic tragic, and

you know, it just also brings to mind I think
the bigger problem, which is, you know, like I think
it's you know, the fentanyl and the drugs people are
getting obviously, so I mean, it takes so little to
kill someone, so somebody thinks they're just you know, using
(36:08):
they can't help it, obviously. I think that's one of
the bigger issues that you know, I wish was dealt with.
But besides that, also too, I do I do want
to say that. I have to say justin being being
a daughter of somebody who has thirty five years sobriety,
it's so huge what you're doing. I know you're humble,
(36:32):
but I just I just think you're so wonderful and
amazing and again you're you know what down the line
for you and your family, Like what you're doing is
going to be such a good thing again, because you know,
when you're the kid of somebody who has want, you know, addiction,
it affects you long term. So anyway, I love hearing
(36:56):
Kim talk about his sobriety, all the awesome work, and
it's just he's a light and so are you guys too.
So that's all I wanted to say.

Yeah, I got the news alert during dinner. I'm like,
oh my god, is this. You know sometimes I have
