Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now this morning show in Boston.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Billy and Lisa in the morning. It's just a great
start to my day on Kiss one Away.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Hey, guys, welcome in and Happy Thursday. Gonna be a
pretty nice day today, Lisa.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
You know what, we have a nice stretch of weather.
Speaker 4 (00:17):
It was chilly this morning, tempts in the thirties in
some spots, but we'll get into.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
The upper fifties today.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
But I'm telling you the rest of the next five
days lots of sunshine and tempts in the seventies.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Yeah, mid seventies by the middle of next week, they're saying.
So we'll take it. Thank you, absolutely very much.
Speaker 5 (00:35):
It was It was thirty two degrees when I stepped
out of my house in Salem, New Hampshire this morning.
Speaker 6 (00:39):
Yeah, Chili, it's very cold.
Speaker 5 (00:41):
You know how you know when it's getting cold when
you get in the car and the tire pressure is low.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Oh yeah, But did any of us have the first frost?
Speaker 1 (00:50):
It wasn't my first frost. No, I feel like I've
it's been frost.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
I don't think so, No, and I don't. It was
thirty two degrees. I don't know if it reached lower
than that.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Yeah, leaving the house. From a distance, my Windshire looked
like I had the frost.
Speaker 6 (01:02):
But I didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Oh maybe I'm confusing frost with condensation.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Yesh. So you had the conversation he did not have.
Speaker 6 (01:10):
Do not pay attention in science class?
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Well, oh my god, I literally did not pass science.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
We have sad news to talk about on the show
this morning. Liam Payne, one of the guys from One Direction,
died in wuennos Eras yesterday, thirty one years old. Now,
the early reports, and you never know, but the early
reports say he fell from the balcony of its hotel.
(01:37):
There are reports he was acting very erratically in the hotel,
so much so that management did call the police. And
there's another report that says there was a smash television
found in his room and he was just acting a
little well, he was upset.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
And he was alone, supposed to me, because the girlfriend
that had been with him in Argentina, they had originally
gone to see the Nile Horn Show, but that was
two weeks.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Ago, so extended vacation, right, and then.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
She left two or three days ago, so, and she
was posting about her being back in the US.
Speaker 7 (02:09):
Right, which she was interesting because he was posting on
his snapchat that it's all to lead now when they
were playing polo, like probably over the weekend in Argentina
in like the countryside, and she had said on it,
oh I'm going He's like, oh, you're going home. She's like, yeah,
I need to go home. And then she like vlogged
about it on her TikTok that she was she went
home a couple days ago because she was like.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
We were there for too long. I got to go home, right.
Speaker 5 (02:30):
Yeah, it's just a very tragic story, you know, thirty
one years old, so young, and then I think about
as his child.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Yeah, the father he's seven years old, seven.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
Years old, same age as my son, you know. So
that's what I really think about. It's just a terrible,
terrible tragy.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
We're really going to break it down in the Entertainment
Report coming up in a few minutes. We're also going
to feature a one direction music throughout the show this morning,
definitely at seven fifteen and eight fifteen this morning. Can
we get a little right now justin nobody.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
You know, so many of our listeners grew up with
Liam Payne direction, so it's it's a big loss.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
It's a shocking loss the band, his fans, his family.
Speaker 7 (03:24):
Oh my god, yeah, I can't I remember when he
became the Natick mall like this. I don't know, probably,
I don't know, ten twelve years direction as One Direction, Yeah,
and then within like two years they were a Jillette
like the way they went from like the X Factor
should just literally start.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Them and like I was at that show at Gillette
me too.
Speaker 5 (03:44):
Really Yeah, they came to the to Kiss one eight
as well as One Direction and it was a mob scene. Yeah,
I remember that surrounding the building. I mean the people
were lined up all the way down down the street.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
It was crazy.
Speaker 7 (03:57):
I remember my first year here we had Liam and
Byams because they just went on and solo, and he
was very sweet.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
He was a nice kid.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
With Actually in the Entertainment Report, we're gonna have some
of Limp Payne when he did come Yeah here, he
was just a really nice guy. I guess he struggled
justin There have been reports he was struggling for a while.
Speaker 6 (04:16):
Yeah, he was. He was in rehab. He got some help,
he got sober.
Speaker 5 (04:19):
Then he kind of fell off and I know there
was some you know, mental health issues as well. He
definitely had his struggles, had his ups and downs, but
still thirty one years old, way too young man.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Can I get one more in one direction?
Speaker 8 (04:31):
Song?
Speaker 3 (04:31):
You have another one?
Speaker 1 (04:33):
You only have one? There's like thirty five.
Speaker 6 (04:37):
This is the open of the show here, which would.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Just I'm sack, We're morning, okay, But hearing that one
song just instantly made me want to hear more. And
I know that sounds weird.
Speaker 6 (04:48):
They're gonna have more plenty on the show this morning.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
It's an emotional show.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Yeah, we've got a lot going on in the entertainment.
Christian Barmore from The Patriots pulled over. Boy. They just
can't get out of their own way this year though,
UH stopped him for tinted windows. I've been stopped for
tinted windows. But then they realized his registration was expired.
He got really aggressive, I guess, and we'll talk about that.
There was also a care for Nick Jonas in Prague, Czechoslovakia.
(05:15):
We're going to talk about that anyway. Entertainment is up
next from the.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Planet's Fitness Kiss one O Wait Studio, We're back with
Villy and Lisa in the morning on Kiss.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
So Rianna right there by the way. We have a
really cool Rihanna story coming up in the entertainment a
couple of minutes. You have talkbacks in there justin Yeah.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
Remember the talkback mic is worldwide. You can check in
anywhere in the world via the iHeartRadio app. You just
listened to us Kiss one a way, tap the red
microphone and send your message in Say hello.
Speaker 9 (05:46):
Monny Alamandas from Boston, Massachusetts. Back in April, I sent
the talk back from Okinawa, Japan when I was visiting
my son daughter and meet my new grandson. And today
I'm sending a toxic for bettin Brazil. The temperature is
seventy one deglue. You're gonna go to the eighties and.
Speaker 6 (06:12):
Brazil.
Speaker 7 (06:13):
She gets around and then BRAZILIL seems like we have
a lot of world travelers listening to this show.
Speaker 5 (06:20):
It's a really cool thing. You know, we talk about
it all the time, but I'm still blown away by it. Yeah,
you know, she's in Brazil right now, hanging out and
just you know, sending a message to us and we
can listen to it.
Speaker 6 (06:31):
So shout out to Brazil.
Speaker 10 (06:32):
I got it.
Speaker 6 (06:33):
You go it all right, take it now.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
The entertainment updates with the Billy Copstad.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
They speak Portuguese, not Spanish.
Speaker 7 (06:40):
Oh, Billy gets confused, he does, oh, because he's Portuguese.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
We've got sad news this morning. If you're just raking up,
keep in mind a lot of people may not have
heard this yet.
Speaker 11 (06:52):
Sure.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Liam Payne, one of the guys from One Direction, is
dead this morning at thirty one years old. Reports say
he fell from a third floor balcony in Buenos Aire's.
Reports also say he was acting erratically in the hotel.
There was a smash television in his hotel room. Management
actually did call police. There is an emergency call Lisa
(07:16):
and I listened to it this morning, but it's all
in Spanish. And this, by the way, was Liam's final
post about an hour before he died. Good morning everybody.
His little video of me a lovely day here Argentina.
This is so tragic. It is.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
It's when I saw it yesterday, I was like what
And he's thirty one years old.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
A former girlfriend, not his current girlfriend, because she was
with him in Weenos Aires but left a couple of
days ago. But a former girlfriend says Liam used to
talk about death a lot.
Speaker 12 (07:53):
He would always message me ever since we broke up, like, oh,
I'm not well.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
He would always play with death and be like, well
I get a die, I'm not doing well.
Speaker 12 (08:02):
I know the lifestyle he lives, and there is where
something bad is going to happen.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
So I would always be like, Okay, he's saying these things.
Speaker 12 (08:10):
I have to help him because if I don't, I
will never be able to live with myself if something
does happen to him.
Speaker 6 (08:15):
Well that's very heavy.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
It's yeah, but he, I guess, was stalking her and
she had sent him a cease and desist letter.
Speaker 7 (08:23):
Yeah, there was a lot going on with this girl,
this ex girlfriend. Recently, she's been trashing him online recently,
saying like he he was just wasn't a good boyfriend
and it was just toxic, and then he was shocking
her and all this now and then now she talks
it was on a podcast like a couple of days ago,
and then now this happens.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
I think the death thing, you know, it plays, it
kind of goes with you know, he had his struggles
drug addiction and mental health. I think they all kind
of come into play here.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
But the fact that he's been so open about his
struggles for so long.
Speaker 6 (08:54):
Yeah, he got sober, he went got sober.
Speaker 7 (08:58):
We saw some videos just I were watching earlier where
he was in Argentina recently obviously, and he looked very
very high what he was interacting with fans, but he
looked under the influence of I'm not sure what but something.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
Still very friendly with the fans though, as always.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Yeah, I saw that video.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
He's been young here many times.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
The kiss went away to our kiss content all that,
and he's always been super nice, super friendly.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Again, if you're waking up early, it's Liam Payne, thirty
one years old, formerly of One Direction. He got his
start on X Factor at fourteen years old.
Speaker 6 (09:32):
What me, Horrick?
Speaker 13 (09:42):
Are you?
Speaker 11 (09:46):
What me?
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Okay? So he was turned away by Simon on that show,
but he came back a couple of years later with
the this audition here, No.
Speaker 6 (10:01):
That was it.
Speaker 14 (10:02):
That was the one.
Speaker 6 (10:03):
Yeah, I got confused.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
They came two years prior an audition and Simon was
like no, And then he came back with that one
and Simon said, yes.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
That was very Michael Bubla, yes, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5 (10:15):
And then Nicole Scherzinger and Simon had the idea to
put all the guys together to form Won Directs.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Which included Harry Harry too.
Speaker 6 (10:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
After several years with one direction, he had a solo career.
His first album launched. This song stripped that down.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
You win the music stuff, but almost stripped that down
for me.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Baby.
Speaker 15 (10:35):
There's a lot of people here in the crowd boat on.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
You can answer me, so your hands, you know.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Baby.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
He came to Kiss concert and did that song.
Speaker 7 (10:43):
And I remember because even though he had been so established,
he was a new soul artist and he was trying
so hard to get that because he's not really a dancer,
and he was practicing with his dancers and.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Like they were like he was. You could tell he
really wanted to get it right, like he wanted it
to look good.
Speaker 7 (11:00):
He only did like one song right it was he going,
came for like ten minutes, but again, nice guy.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
But while he was here, he talked about the band
and whether they had really broken out.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
None of us have really left.
Speaker 16 (11:10):
It's on hiatus, which at first I thought was some
sort of religious term.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
We're all still very much together.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
I think it's nice.
Speaker 15 (11:18):
That we're all getting to explore our own areas of music.
Everyone's going about it in their own way, you know.
Nile came out first, and he's doing the single song, right,
we sort of stuff and you know, Harry has this
this different seventies rock thing that he's doing, and then
my thing's totally different.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
To what those guys are doing. Pretty scary. Tributes have
been pouring in from all over Paris. Hilton, Charlie Pool,
j Valvin Flavor Flav. Haven't heard anything from the guys yet,
but I'm sure I imagine that's probably right to give
it some time seven fifteen and eight to fifteen this morning.
We'll play some more one Direction music. We'll play some
Limpanne music as a tribute.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
Yeah, and also we will take your phone calls later
on this morning seven forty when your top time, you
can always send a talk back in, you know, let
us know how you feel and remember, you know, remembering Liam.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Yeah, keep the talkbacks coming and feel free to call
the Billy and Lisa the Morning Show anytime at six
pet seven nine three, one one oh Wait. There was
a scare for Nick Jonas at his show in Prague.
Some idiot in the crowd was lasering and he ran
off the stage, which is the right thing to do. Yo.
Speaker 7 (12:22):
He like he's sprinting He's like time out, time out,
and then they were off the stage for ten minutes.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
It's so scary.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
Yeah, I hope they found the idiot and the crowd like,
what are you doing? Uh? The Ariana Grande hosted Saturday
Night Live the other night, which was hilarious, was the
most watched episode in more than three years, five point
six million of us watching, five hundred and sixteen million views.
And how about this, This guy, Evan Bogart, the guy
(12:51):
who wrote Rihanna's song Sos, revealed some really interesting stuff
about that project. It's pretty cool.
Speaker 17 (12:58):
Joy a second verse of that song his eighties song
titles strung together as sentences. Because I thought it would
be super clever. Take on me, ah, you know inside
you feel it right? Take me on. I could just
die up in your arms tonight. I melt with you.
You got me head over heels, the boy, You keep
(13:21):
me hanging on the way, you make me feel, you keep.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Me hanging on the way.
Speaker 17 (13:24):
You're all number one songs from the eighties.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
That's incredible. I had no idea, no.
Speaker 6 (13:30):
One that no one does.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
That is yeah, mind, Why did it take so long
for that info to come out?
Speaker 6 (13:36):
I know?
Speaker 3 (13:36):
And where's this guy now?
Speaker 5 (13:38):
Oh, he's still around. He's a big music writer. Created
he wrote Halo by Beyonce.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
He writes with Ryan Teddor a lot.
Speaker 6 (13:45):
Yeah, he's a really big deal. That's such a cool project.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
That's a really good story.
Speaker 7 (13:49):
You know what's funny, Billy. He's like a middle aged
white guy who wrote a lot of rap songs. Like
that's why he when he wrote this song was I
kind of wrote it like a rap, like with lines
because he's like, I don't, I don't, I didn't you pop?
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Every Lyric is a song from the eighties, a number
one song pretty Cool. The extended family of the Menendez
brothers still demanding their release from prison, their sister outside
the courthouse.
Speaker 7 (14:11):
The truth is Lyon and Eric wereke failed by the
very people who should have projected them, by their parents,
by the system, by society at large. This kind of
bothers me because that's like the mother's sister that they murdered,
and it's like you didn't notice, like you're their aunt,
you didn't notice, like no one in your immediate family
noticed what was gone.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
There was one family member that testified on the first
trial that she was told by a young Lyle that
my dad.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Was touching me.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Yeah, and she testified to that in the first trial,
but then was not allowed to testify in the second one.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
It's it's a crazy story. By the way, there is
a report they could be out of prison by thanks.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
I think I believe it. I hope so yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Golden Bachelorette last night, Lisa, what happened? Who's still in?
Who's gone right?
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Jones?
Speaker 4 (14:59):
Down to were final four people and my son Riley
will be calling in at seven ten to briefly discuss it.
But one of his top top picks made it into
the final four, Chock Chock.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
It's all about chock.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
All right, So we got Riley this morning. He'll break
it all down. Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore pulled over
by Providence police. Things got ugly. I've actually seen the
bodycam footage. He was initially refusing to get out of
the car. Now, I don't know who was right and
who was wrong in this situation. Apparently it started they
pulled them over because of tinted windows. There's a law
(15:36):
in some states, including Massachusetts, the windows can only be
tinted to some degree. I was actually pulled over once
in Massachusetts, but apparently things god ugly. Christian Barmore is
saying it was racism at its best, at its finest.
But I'm guessing we'll hear more about this story. Keep
in mind, the Patriots played the Jaguars in London on Sunday.
We'll get that game nine to thirty Sunday morning.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
Can't catch a break.
Speaker 7 (16:01):
No, this is a little different though, Like it's a
little different. It's not like, you know, he got pulled
over driving and well.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
It was a routine traffic stop and then it escalated
to something else where he was not being cooperative.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Well, the Providence Beliefe released the body camp footage just
to show that they had done.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Right and that he wasn't being cooperative.
Speaker 6 (16:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Yeah. The jingle ball jackpot is going on. Your first
shot is coming up in minutes at seven to ten,
and were brought to you by Dover Rugg and Home.
Dover brings the rugs right to your house, lays them
down on your floor with your furniture in your room,
and under the perfect light. As many rugs as you
want to try home for free. So it's hard to believe,
(16:41):
but it is true. Dover rug is in Natick, Boston
and Burlington, and there you go.
Speaker 13 (16:46):
I am so incredibly devastated to hear about the loss
of Lampagne. I grew up in one direction. Their music
really grew with me and it was amazing to see
them grow as a band in as So harness ar
heavy This morning.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
From the Planet Fitness Kiss one Away Studios.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
We we're back with Villy and Lisa in the morning.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Kiss Hey guys, so welcome back and happy Thursday. Is
gonna be a nice day today. We've got a pair
of tickets for the completely sold out jingle Ball. Coller
twenty five can have the tickets be providing. Caller twenty
five knows the keyword and Lisa, what's the guy's name
on the Golden Bachelorette. His name is Chock, so chalk
(17:30):
will be the keyword. Choc producer Riley is the keyword
and let's go to Riley.
Speaker 8 (17:37):
Now, Yeah, that was a bloodbath last night.
Speaker 11 (17:41):
They had a really douchey Rose ceremony.
Speaker 18 (17:44):
Majorly douche She's just there for the Graham, Okay.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Riley Donovan is Lisa Donovan's son. For some reason, at
a very young age, he is obsessed with well reality shows,
especially the Golden Bachelorette, which is even weirder. But Dolly,
what's all the controversy around Chalk?
Speaker 8 (18:04):
I think last night I was gonna I wrote down
my little note pad. I think that chalk Is was
very much perv last night. I am I allowed to say
that on here. Oh yeah, he was ok h he
was very he was not playing. It almost felt like
we were watching, you know, the normal Bachelorette with twenty
something year old guys. Here he was this guy's sixty
(18:24):
six or something like that, and he's stealing all of Jones,
snuggling up closer on the group day in front of
all the other eighty year old men. It's just it
was it was kind of awkward, to be honest with.
Speaker 6 (18:35):
He was wowing out. Yeah, the guys weren't happy about it.
Speaker 17 (18:37):
Like the rest of his team wants a hometown, so
he's going full court press Chalk.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
He really wants it and not really pulling back about that, like, hey,
take it easy, just hit the brakes.
Speaker 6 (18:46):
A little bit.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Chalk and Joan together like a couple.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
I mean, he has his arm around his shoulder. Well,
he's there to win, right, He's there to get the girl.
So that's what he did.
Speaker 8 (19:02):
Yeah, he He wasn't there to make friends.
Speaker 6 (19:04):
So and he's not apologizing.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
I'm crazy about her and I want to be with
her every moment. And I don't care what they're thinking
they're doing, that's their business.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
I'm just worried about Joman myself.
Speaker 5 (19:13):
I'm all out a winning mentality, right, Riley, would you
say he's a little douchey.
Speaker 8 (19:20):
I would say last night was a little bit of
a douchey, douchey Chock that we saw douchey chalk.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Well, Riley, she she she's down to four, right.
Speaker 8 (19:29):
She's done before we have Jordan Chock guy. And who's
the other guy, Pascal Pascal.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Yeah, I don't get that.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
I don't get that at all.
Speaker 8 (19:44):
No, I like him, you do the start. I think
he was gonna definitely make it.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Oh yeah, so I would predict. I don't know much
about these shows, but because they're giving all this attention
to Chock, he's gonna win well the way they need to.
Speaker 8 (19:56):
That's a pretty good possibility. But it's a really hard
choice because I don't know think right now they're in
a dead heat for it. I don't think one of
them necessarily favors another. I will say though, Kelsey Anderson's
dad on the show, who was a past Bachelor contestant.
She's actually with Joey right now from the last season.
Her dad went home last night because her group day
(20:17):
was just too awkward. I felt like he was too
quiet for her because he didn't really it didn't feel
like the date moved and flowed as some of the others.
I just think it was not bound to be.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Yeah, he was a fan favorite, but she sent him home.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Yeah, okay, So who's your prediction Who's going to win
this thing?
Speaker 6 (20:35):
Riley?
Speaker 8 (20:36):
You know, I think it's a dead heat right now,
and I think she'll probably lurk atop her mansion in
the clouds with her hardest decisions she's made in no wise,
I mean, all the guys are good, to be honest
with you, So I think I think I agree with
Billy's statement. I think Chalk. I think Chock will take it.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Yeah, okay, so another episode before we let you go, Riley,
how's the hair this morning?
Speaker 8 (21:01):
It's horrible.
Speaker 6 (21:03):
You got to get up.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Yeah, you gotta get to work on the air, all right,
Thanks buddy, Thank you, you do it every week for Usdy. Yeah,
I love you. Okay, we got to go to carry
carry your caller twenty five. Congratulations. Do you know the keyword?
It's chalk chock is correct. So now you've got a
pair of tickets for jingle Ball, but you also qualified
for the jackpot, which would be four front row tickets
(21:28):
jingle Ball and a shot at one hundred and eight
thousand dollars to hold on. Producer Riley will get your information. Congratulations,
you're definitely going to jingle Ball.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
Okay, that's pretty good. Congratulations Carrie. Eight ten is your
next shot at the jingle Ball jackpot. And you know,
if you're just waking up, haven't heard the news. Liam
Payne dead at thirty one years old. He fell off
a hotel balcony and Argentina yesterday. This is a developing
story that we're going to talk about next. But Liam Payne,
of course known for being a member of One Direction,
(22:00):
So I think this morning it's only right that we
look back probably their biggest hit, right, what makes you beautiful?
Speaker 6 (22:06):
Remembering Liam Payments?
Speaker 11 (22:09):
Last night, my childhood best friend, who I very very
rarely talked to, actually reached out to me, and we
spent the night talking about Liam in One Direction and
how we grew up on them and everything like that,
and it was really sad, but it was you know,
(22:30):
it was nice to catch up with her and talk
about something that you know, means so much to us
and meant so much to us.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
Yeah, if you're just waking up this morning, a lot
of people waking up haven't heard the story. Liam Payne
from One Direction, thirty one years old is dead apparently
fell off a balcony and win as earas And it's
just a tragic story. Just an incredibly successful career as
One Direction as a solo artist, and I guess had
(23:01):
been struggling right justin for a while.
Speaker 5 (23:04):
Yeah, it's well documented he struggled with drug addiction. He
had some mental health issues, but he had gotten help,
He went to rehab, he got sober, was doing better.
So you know, I don't know what happened, you know,
right before his death, but you know it's tragic either way.
Thirty one years old, a young father, young child, seven
years old.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
And also he was there to see one of his
bandmates from One Direction, Nile Horn, performing there two weeks ago.
And that's why he originally went to sort of see
him and talk to him.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
So that just makes it even more.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Sad to me.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
But my hope is that something this tragic can be
a reminder to everyone right about what was going on
with him.
Speaker 5 (23:45):
Yeah, and it's also a reminder that life is so short, right,
so precious, and in a moment time, it can be
taken away. And you know, we just played that talk
back from one of our listeners. Yeah, and you know,
as tragic as it is, you know, sometimes things like
death brings people together. You know, her and her child friend,
they grew up listening to one direction. I know there
was a lot of our listeners out there that grew up, oh,
listening to one direction.
Speaker 6 (24:06):
Yeah, Winnie right, producer Riley, Yeah, you know, so.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Came to our jingle balls, our kiss concerts should have
followed one direction from day one when they were launched
by X Factor. And it seems everybody has a story.
Speaker 11 (24:18):
You know.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
I got a text very early this morning my niece
Michelle and her husband Mike, when Liam came into this station,
I think it was twenty seventeen as a solo act,
and you know, we were doing interviews with Liam and everything.
I had invited my niece and her husband and their
kids back in twenty seventeen to come on in because
they were huge fans, and they remember coming into Kiss
(24:40):
and having getting to meet Liam Pain.
Speaker 6 (24:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
I remember when he came into Super Nice at Kiss
concert Super Nice, and even you know, right before he died,
this video.
Speaker 6 (24:49):
Of him with fans, signing things, taking pictures he posted
on Snapchat. It might have been a couple of days old,
but he seemed to be in good spirits.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
Yeah. You and I were looking at the video of
Liam and the I think it was the lobby of
the hotel, possibly the airport. Yeah, he was meeting with
fans and signing autographs and.
Speaker 4 (25:05):
Laughing, and it makes it that much harder to understand
what was going on with him.
Speaker 5 (25:10):
Yeah, and there's a lot of, you know, you know,
theories of what was going on. None of them we
don't know what's true and what's not. So you know,
the facts are that, you know, he died at thirty
one years old.
Speaker 6 (25:21):
Yeah, you know, he had his struggles.
Speaker 5 (25:22):
We don't know what exactly happened, but this is us
remembering him and as an artist and a friend of
the radio station.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Yeah, and we want to try as much as we
can to make it a tribute and not focus on
any of the gossip and you know what may or
may not have been in his room, and that that's
not for us.
Speaker 6 (25:38):
To talk about.
Speaker 5 (25:38):
So in the entertainment we talked about his audition on
The X Factor and how he came in and Simon
said no, and then he came back two years later
and Simon said yes. But he also revealed that Simon
Cowell wanted him to be the face of the group,
like he started the group based around Liam Payne.
Speaker 16 (25:56):
From what I've heard is that like part of the
reason when the direction and was made was because of
Simon's promise to me that in two years I'll make
this work for you.
Speaker 6 (26:04):
Wow.
Speaker 16 (26:05):
So he kind of started with my face and then
worked around the rest of them.
Speaker 6 (26:09):
I've never told us you were you were the inception.
Speaker 16 (26:12):
I was the honorary member of One Direction, Yes, and
he told me that story himself in his house.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
I need to I need to correct that.
Speaker 6 (26:17):
I knew it would be a little controversial, So I.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Never disliked Liam. I loved One Direction.
Speaker 7 (26:23):
But recently, especially if you're on TikTok, there's been a
side of TikTok. That's all about debunking Liam's lies that
he's told over the past six seven years, almost ten
years since they've been broken up. About how he hit
a billion streams before any other artists of the five
of them.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
That's not true.
Speaker 7 (26:39):
His stripped down song didn't hit a billion streams till
like last year. The first person they picked was actually Nile.
There's video footage of them picking Nile as the first boy. Like,
so that's been I don't know, but that's the thing
is Liam has But Liam has been like essentially, people
been debugging his lies the last worked on TikTok because
(27:01):
he has been lying, and I think I don't know
if he sees what everyone says about him, but I've
seen what everyone says about him.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
And I feel bad.
Speaker 7 (27:07):
I never said it, but people were like ripping out
a part on social media the last day saying that
the same was know But I just have the big
reality to the situation.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
I'm sad that he died.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
It sounds like he was maybe being a little delusion.
That's exactly visionist exactly.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
That's what I was trying to say.
Speaker 7 (27:26):
Lisa knows me and knows what I was trying to say,
I couldn't articulate it properly.
Speaker 6 (27:30):
Yeah, very talented though, Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
When we played the One Direction song going into the
I just I literally almost started crying.
Speaker 10 (27:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (27:37):
Well, remember they went on carpool karaoke.
Speaker 5 (27:39):
James Corden I think drove around the car and did
what makes You Beautiful?
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Everyone else in the room, everyone else.
Speaker 17 (27:48):
But that.
Speaker 6 (27:55):
Was one of the biggest carpool karaoke episodes.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
It's the best.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
I'm sure that was that and the Megoes one or
two of the best one.
Speaker 6 (28:01):
That one too. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (28:02):
Yeah, And he had an amazing voice. I mean he
did great covers. He covered pink ones, What about us?
Speaker 3 (28:07):
What about all the times you said you had the answer?
Speaker 4 (28:14):
What about us?
Speaker 6 (28:16):
What about all the broken got I kind of turn that.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
Wow, that's not an easy song.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
He's so talented.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
My literally my heart hurts for the rest of the
bandmates in One Direction and what they're going through right now.
Speaker 6 (28:29):
And his son too, right young father.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
Yeah, I'm seven years old and with a famous dad
who's now famously, for lack of a better word, famously dead,
which is so tragical and.
Speaker 7 (28:41):
It's so sad to think that the only one direction
reunion there ever will.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Be is at his funeral.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
That's a good point.
Speaker 7 (28:48):
Because they haven't been together at all, and in the
five of them together ten.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
Years, tribute to have been pouring in. I know, Paris
Hilton took the social, Charlie Pooth shook the social and
I'm sure going to hear from.
Speaker 6 (29:00):
The Fellas, oh yeah, but it's best to.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
Wait when it comes from them and they'll decide when
and how best to deal with that. But an incredible
story anytime with thirty one year old dies. But yeah,
a lot of people have stories to tell, and that's
why we're talking about it, and we're actually coming up
on topic time and I think that's a perfect topic
time for this morning.
Speaker 6 (29:22):
Phone lines are open.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
The talkback is open, justin how do they get there?
Speaker 5 (29:26):
Yeah, you can listen to us on the iHeartRadio app
if you know. If you don't have it, it's free
to download. When you do, you start to kiss Wing
and wait, you listen to us live. You t have
that red microphone and get your voice, get what you
want to say heard on the radio.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
And producer Riley's primary job right now is to take
your calls, So you can tell your stories. Liam Payne
dead at thirty one years old six one seven, nine
to three one one one A share a story with us.
What is the topic today?
Speaker 8 (29:57):
We're going to be talking.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
About Billy and to present talk amongst yourself topic times. Okay,
the topic this morning? If you're just waking up, really
really really sad story. Liam Payne from One Direction, at
only thirty one years old, is dead apparently fell off
his hotel balcony and Buenos Aires and reaction is coming
(30:19):
in from all around the world, tributes from celebrities, everything.
I mean, you know, one of the original members of
One Direction, just famous, famous, famous boy band, and everybody's
got a storytell it seems we had some stories this morning.
We heard a lot from Liam and his heyday on
the show this morning. And now is your chance, and
(30:40):
Dan you're first, go ahead.
Speaker 14 (30:43):
Good morning, Good morning, everybody, Billy, Lisa justin. I've been
in recovery a long time, many years, and it doesn't
matter how many years, but I just wanted to say
that my hot goes out to the people that have
connected to Liam as family, as friends. When I hear
stories like this, you know, I know what I usually
(31:05):
go to it's a couple of things to either addiction,
especially when they are so young, addiction or suicide. Those
are the things I usually go to, and those two
are kind of connected to each other. And I just
wanted to put it shut out to justin. I think
what you do, I guess went away with your recovery
is phenomenal. I really do to put it out there
(31:26):
and just not hide it, and to tell your story.
I love hearing you talk about your story and your
recovery is phenomenal. I really enjoy that. And I have
my own story obviously, like everybody does that's connected to
alcohol or drug addiction in some way.
Speaker 6 (31:42):
Thank you Dan for those words. I appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (31:44):
And you know, I got to give a shout out
to Billy and Lisa too, who give me a platform
to be able to talk about my story and talk
about the things that I've been through, because it's so
important to get that word out and let people know
that are struggling, that they can get clean and they
can live a better life.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
And you can talk about it anytime you want because
people are listening in people care. I've had addiction in
my family. I know what it's like.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
I think addiction touches. I mean, I have an addiction
in my family too.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
It's like it's everywhere. And again, this is like such
a tragic reminder.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
Yeah it is.
Speaker 5 (32:14):
And obviously, you know, more details is going to come
out on this, right. But Liam Payne he had his struggles.
He had addiction issues, he had gone to rehab, he
got sober, mental health issues.
Speaker 6 (32:23):
You know, those things were really in his life.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
Yeah. You know a lot of people immediately will go
to that place and say, whoa god, he had everything. Well,
that doesn't matter.
Speaker 6 (32:31):
It doesn't matter.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Addiction comes. It doesn't God.
Speaker 6 (32:34):
I just yeah, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 5 (32:36):
I always say, you know, when it comes to addiction, right,
the guy that's on the street that's homeless, right, has
the same disease as the Wall Street.
Speaker 6 (32:44):
Year completely, you know, or the multi millionaires.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Everyone is equal.
Speaker 7 (32:48):
I actually feel like it's kind of worse because you
have way more access.
Speaker 5 (32:52):
It is sometimes it is, you know, I mean yeah,
but yeah, anyway, Rest in peace.
Speaker 6 (32:56):
Liam Payne dead at thirty one.
Speaker 18 (32:57):
Good Morning crew. My son was born the year that
One Direction was formed, twenty ten. It's been a big
part of his growing up. He's always loved that band.
Nobody Can Drag Me Down was his mantra. I came
home yesterday and he was like on the floor. He's like,
my childhood is dead. I feel so bad for him
(33:19):
and for everybody involved.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
Yeah, before we go further with more talkbacks and calls,
can we get a little more one direction news?
Speaker 6 (33:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (33:28):
Yeah, So we played what makes You Beautiful earlier. We'll
do that again throughout the show. But they had a
bunch of other hits too.
Speaker 6 (33:34):
It's a Liam was also a writer, wrote.
Speaker 5 (33:48):
He wrote a lot of one direction songs, you know,
so it wasn't just a talented singer, also a talented writer.
Speaker 11 (33:55):
And I.
Speaker 6 (34:05):
Had some bops.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
Oh my god, every every song you play, I'm getting chills.
And you know, I'm kind of an older fella.
Speaker 6 (34:13):
There we go, There we go.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
The first time a young guy gave you chills.
Speaker 6 (34:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (34:17):
There's been speculation that Harry Styles is going to come
out with an album on Friday. The question is because
he's still going to release it if that's the case.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
Yeah, do you guys hear about this? So the rumor
is that Harry Styles will drop a new song on Friday.
A couple of reasons why. One of which is Shau
Mendez and Joe Jonas. Boast pushed back their album release dates.
Its supposed to be tomorrow, and also Saturday Night Live
does not have a musical guest for October twenty sixth.
Speaker 6 (34:43):
They left that out on the schedule. They skipped over it.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
Yeah, Lisa and I were talking about that off the
air about five or ten minutes ago. You know, the
projection that Harry Styles may or may not plan to
release something tomorrow, and we were wondering if that was
the case, would he still.
Speaker 6 (34:57):
I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
I know.
Speaker 5 (35:03):
He's in no position to at least promote.
Speaker 6 (35:08):
Definitely person that.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Would do that, he I think you would feel dirty.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Yeah, let's go to the phones. Nina, you're up next.
Go ahead, Nina, Hi.
Speaker 10 (35:18):
How are you this morning?
Speaker 3 (35:20):
We're okay, but like everybody else, we're kind of feeling
it with the Liam Payne news.
Speaker 10 (35:26):
I'm just sorry, I'm a little nervous speaking on the air,
but yeah, I just I just wanted to comment because
I say, it's just it's so upsetting to me when
I see anyone passed away from addiction, but you know,
somebody who's that young, it's just like tragic tragic, and
(35:48):
you know, it just also brings to mind I think
the bigger problem, which is, you know, like I think
it's you know, the fentanyl and the drugs people are
getting obviously, so I mean, it takes so little to
kill someone, so somebody thinks they're just you know, using
(36:08):
they can't help it, obviously. I think that's one of
the bigger issues that you know, I wish was dealt with.
But besides that, also too, I do I do want
to say that. I have to say justin being being
a daughter of somebody who has thirty five years sobriety,
it's so huge what you're doing. I know you're humble,
(36:32):
but I just I just think you're so wonderful and
amazing and again you're you know what down the line
for you and your family, Like what you're doing is
going to be such a good thing again, because you know,
when you're the kid of somebody who has want, you know, addiction,
it affects you long term. So anyway, I love hearing
(36:56):
Kim talk about his sobriety, all the awesome work, and
it's just he's a light and so are you guys too.
So that's all I wanted to say.
Speaker 6 (37:05):
Thank you, thank you, those kind words. I appreciate it
so much. Thanks.
Speaker 5 (37:09):
Very impactful, very impactful. Yeah, and it's a tragic story
with Liam Payne. You know, I was, I was eating
dinner and I got I got a group text from
producer Riley and Winnie and I couldn't believe it, Like
I dropped my phone.
Speaker 6 (37:23):
Yeah, you know, I didn't know. It just hits you.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Yeah, I got the news alert during dinner. I'm like,
oh my god, is this. You know sometimes I have
those weird news sources to pop up and I said,
is this real?
Speaker 6 (37:33):
And yeah, well you have weird algorithms.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
Yeah, very weird.
Speaker 7 (37:37):
And I don't even know why because you keep clicking
on it.
Speaker 5 (37:43):
Anyway, Rest in peace. It's Liam Payne dead at thirty one.
Will be paying tribute all morning long on Kiss one O. Wait,
don't forget eight ten this morning. Next shot dingle ball
Jackpot
