A Recovery Now

A Recovery Now

www.inaflash.org Recovery Now is a gathering place for anyone seeking relief from the challenges of life on life's terms. Whether it is brain injury, mental health, addictive disorders or other matters of the brain, we identify the problems and seek to find potential solutions. We discuss useful tools that have helped us lighten the load, of our journey through recovery. More will be revealed! This is a "we" recovery program, because it is in the "we," that we find the new "me." We focus on the four A's of Recovery: Awareness, Acceptance, Action and Adaptation. This is a place for survivor's striving to become thrivers, which takes a good bit of Warrior! Hosted by Kim Justus, author of In a Flash: Miracles Here and Beyond as well as Hootie’s Hollow and the Magic Tree. Many residuals can be new issues we grapple with after Brain Injury. Difficulty focusing without getting distracted is one of those. This intrusion can become frustrating and make us angry. It was on one of those days, many of us survivors began to refer to this as "something shiny".  To survive around this community, it helps to have a sense of humor. We are intent on the task in front of us, and suddenly something shiny pulls us ...

Ignorance causes misdiagnosis and therefore ineffective (or no) treatment for children with Brain Injury - Particularly ones with less obvious "tells". Professionals, parents, educators, and others are not familiar with common symptoms that point to Brain Injury. As a result, too many kids are thrust into a life of challenges that are never tied back to the root cause of TBI. In turn a disfunctional circle forms, robbing these chil...
