(00:02):
We got going on. Oh,we're gonna give away tickets for the baseball
today. I need to send thoseto you so you can send them to
somebody else can't wait tonight's game.We have tickets Section one forty two,
Row nineteen. If you're not familiarwith the ballpark, that is basically midway
up third base, between third baseand left field, beautiful seats look at
I I recommend if you're that personand I have, I don't have any
(00:27):
problem with it. I don't knowabout you. Some people do. Some
people think it's an I would say, if you like to bring a glove
to a game, and you winthese tickets to night, that's that's a
glove seat. I have sat inthat section before, probably not as good
as seats that you have, butthat section is right. It's get you
get stuff ripped down the line. It's past the netting, but you're high
(00:48):
enough up or unless you're just acomplete knucklehead and you're not playing any attention,
you're never gonna get hurt. Butthere are chances to get balls there.
There are chances to get foul ballsthere, and so we're gonna we're
gonna say no, it's Cobs two, which is kind of cool. You
know, the Cubbies in town, which you know, they don't come here
all that often, you know, even in the day of interleague play,
and kind of an iconic brand inJersey and all that. So that's kind
of fun, right the Cubs,Let's go. Let's go. Mariner's six
(01:11):
game homestand first of three Cubs thenthe Reds come to town after that.
Cubbies are seven and five this season, so they're not bad, they're not
awful. And we'll see you thinkingMS can get on a little bit of
a run today. So we havea fun show coming up. We'll set
it up for you real quick, and we'll get a couple of things before
we take a break and get howdo you want me? From Apple TV?
She's also with MLB Network, right, if I'm not mistaken, I
(01:33):
believe so she has been, andI think Apple TV and MLB Network are
coinciding with a lot of these gotcha, gotcha? Gotcha? Okay, So
we'll check in with her on thecall in some way, shape or form.
Tonight at twelve twenty we went Imentioned this to Greg Greg Cosel on
yesterday Good Stuff with Greg Good conversationwith Greg, he talked about the linebackers,
(01:53):
which we're going to get into.Rob Wrang will join us at two
o'clock this afternoon and we'll get withRob two and he'll join us for his
week we visit brought to by Ferrelli'sPizza. The conversation will be much like
we have with Cosell with linebackers, which they need to get to. Just
to kind of give you a littlesetup. We'll talk about the linebackers on
the roster right now, Baker andDotson, and also the guys they picked
(02:15):
up in the off season and freeagency, and also kind of what maybe
we could expect what the film tellsour guy Cosell about the Mike McDonald defense
and what the linebacking core and whatthat front seven will look like. Felt
like we never really got a goodfeel for what it looked like last year
with the Clint Hurt defense. Itseemed like it changed all the time.
Three four five two. You know, as Greg will explain, you know,
(02:36):
the five what looks to be afive man front, two edge rushers
on the outside, Taylor Mafe andNeuo Siu Hall whoever they might have been.
It just never worked. It wasn'tgood, So we'll see kind of
what to expect because that linebacker positionobviously feeds off of what they do up
front in the front. So we'llget to that with cosell. A little
x's and o's for you at oneO five kind of gets you set to
go. Bobby Casper Live from Agusta, where the wind is howling. Man,
(02:59):
who baby, this looks like absolutelyzero fun right now, even though
it's Augusta winds blowing. I Iharkened back years ago playing golf in vague.
Vegas has this problem sometimes too withthe win when you play golf like
Vague. This is like a windytime of year in Vegas, like April
may be there and like, yeah, get out and it's like are you
(03:22):
kidding me? It's and it's dryand beautiful, but yet like thirty forty
mile an hour wins. We lasttime we were there a few years as
like I guess twenty nineteen because it'sright before the pandemic pre pandemic here and
I used to go and we gotto revisit this our families. But uh,
Chris Francis and from Channel seven,my buddy, my buddy, Steve
Shanmick, our photog at Fox thirteen, our old buddy Steve Cony used to
(03:44):
work at Cairo TV as well. That we'd go down there and just an
absolute gong show is week of stupidity. That's how it should be. A
week. Well, I say weusually like four days, four days of
stupidity, because we played golf atleast two days and the last time we
were there it was like that,it was like forty I remember, just
like like you can't hit the ball, but like you still are dumb enough
to go out and pay one hundredand twenty bucks to play, Cause why
(04:05):
wouldn't you. You're in Vegas, and you know what, it probably saved
you. That one hundred and twentyprobably saved you four or five hundred bucks,
right exactly. That's kind of howwe looked at it. So there
you go. So that's the kindof sets up what we're doing today.
We'll get to a daily power playone forty five and get little deeper into
the conversation I just talked to Gregabout I had interesting night last night at
(04:25):
the Cracking Game at CPA, sittingin the press box with an old friend
who's a scout for an NHL teamelsewhere in the league now, and he's
there often. We were watching thegame and sat with he sat with Curtis
and listened to me up there withthe Fox thirteen crew, and I had
it. I got to I mean, there's this We're in the rumor season
(04:46):
where a lot of things going on. I made the comparison. I'll tell
you twelve forty five who the SeanFiggins the kracking is. But oh no,
yeah, you guys all know whoRichie Sexon is. That's break cost.
Yes, yeah, we'll score agoal, which is as meaningless as
it comes. He's only done afew times this season, but kind of
the sex in world of like,ah, Richie, what was that home
(05:09):
run? All was against a tripleA pitcher in September. It made the
game seven to one. Yeah, thanks, buddy, that's that. They
have another comp His name is SeanFiggins. We'll tell you who that is
at twelve forty five. It's nota compliment either, by the way,
I would not think so. It'snot a compliment that might have been.
And I need to always I thinkpeople, this is this is the world
we live in with radio. Ineed to make sure that this is explicitly
(05:33):
set. I'm not saying that theyshould or shouldn't fire Dave Hackstall. I'm
gonna reserve judgment, and if Ihave to have an opinion, I will
at some point next week after theseason is over. They got four games
left. They'll probably at best gotwo and two, maybe one in three,
maybe Dallas and Dallas tomorrow, Dallastrying to clinch a playoff, clinch
(05:54):
the division, number one seed inthe West, all that stuff. Yeah,
they're gonna get the full meal dealfrom the Stars tomorrow, so that'll
be a tough one. Saint Louis, EH, fifty to fifty game Winnipeg,
and then they finish off with uswith who they finish off Minnesota not
a playoff team, but there is. I would just say from my conversation
last night with this particular scout who'sa pro scout, advanced scout, dialed
(06:17):
pretty really dialed in around the league, there's a pretty strong feeling that that
Hackshall might be out, And Ithink other people that cover if you ask
people to cover the team on adaily basis, they probably tell you the
same thing that it would be.It would be more of a surprise if
he is retained than if he getslet go. This was a disappointing season,
(06:39):
and I think last night kind ofput the that might have been the
I don't like the term nail inthe coffin that that might have been the
final. That might have been thefinal. Straw Sharks have nineteen wins on
the season, two against Seattle.Yeah, two against Seattle. Oh,
is that the thorn in their heel? Well, it's just odd they've end
(07:00):
weird thing is they've beat some teamsthis year that they probably didn't have a
bit any business beating. But butthey've the loss of the Sharks, the
shut out loss before the All Starbreak, and then what happened last night.
We're just it's just inexcusable and someonewill take the fall for that.
So we'll talk about that a littlebit more as the show goes on today
as well. So there's a lotWe've got a lot a lot of football,
a lot of draft stuff, talkabout a lot of conversation there.
(07:21):
Marrions will get to next with withHotti Watney like big, I mean,
let's let's go Bryce Miller on themounta tonight pitchwall for Seattle. So far
this season. Uh, we'll seewhat he can do. It's on Apple
TV plus. Is there a differencebetween Apple TV and Apple TV Plus?
I asked that naively. Naively,I thought Apple TV is Apple TV and
(07:43):
maybe I think it's without ads. That's my only guest. Okay, four
on four to five one. Ifyou're an Apple TV subscriber, what's the
difference between Apple TV and Apple TVplus. I know what Fox thirteen Plus
is. It's our other station. It's on Channel one ten on next one.
That's ESPN Plus. Well, sometimesthey're paid, not paid, right,
like Fox thirteen Plus you don't payfor. Yes, ESPN Plus you
(08:05):
pay for So I don't know whatESPN Plus is. But the game's on
Apple TV Plus. So that willlead to many people complaining because they can't
watch the game tonight. Uh thatwould be the people that spend the money
for Root Sports and now can't watchthe game. Yeah, because it's on
Apple Yeah, so you have anMLB subscription. I'm pretty sure you can
watch it on Apple, but thatwould be and watch it through MLB.
(08:26):
But MLB subscription you can't watch Rootlocally. So that's a whole different world.
Oh no, no, that's different. I'm just saying for the Apple
Games. I believe if you havean MLB subscription you can locally watch that.
I got you, I gotcha.I think, why did? When
did TV become so confusing? AndI understand I'm old, and I get
(08:46):
that I'm an old man. Ihave a hard time with things like that,
But yeah, when did it becomesso damn hard? All right,
so you guys can tell us that. Okay, here's what we do.
We're gonna take a break, comeback hot, right, I think we're
breaking now? Correct, okay, correct, okay, let's oh we got
a master's updates. I got too. Oh I forgot about that. We
got all that coming up. Plus, how do you Watney next? Now
(09:11):
back to the in for next show, brought to you by snow Callney Casino.
My apologies, my computer went tosleep there. Welcome back Friday edition
of the show, Getting you Readyfor the weekends. Well, a football
conversation, draft conversation coming up lateron in the program. Get some golf
(09:33):
in as well. Head done toAugusta National with our guy at Bobby Casper
from Real Golf Radio. We gotall that four nine, four to five,
one tell them the text line whenit's game time, Jess, it
is so time, It's Friday, should be out right now, it's not
tully time. If you've got towork a baseball game tonight and probably not
be done till like ten or eleveno'clock at night. But that's okay because
it might not be many better jobsof being on the field for a major
(09:54):
league baseball game, and especially whenhere in Seattle the roof shockingly will be
open to the sun will be shining, and Apple TV will have the Cubs
and the Mariners at is it aseven o'clock at sixty six game? Yeah?
They change that. I know.I'm very confused for old guys like
me that game to not on AppleTV and joining us right now from Apple
(10:15):
TV? How do you Watney iswith us? High? Heidi? How
are you? Hey? I'm great? How are you? I'm good?
I'm good. At the end ofour conversation, Jess tells me that you'll
walk all of us old curmudgeons throughhow to get Apple TV tonight if we
don't have it, So we'll savethat for the end. But rest assured,
Mariner fans, we live it,Hei, do we live it?
You've been working in TV for along time, rest assured. Is still
(10:39):
the most confusing time in the worldto be a sports fan, isn't it.
Where are my games? How canI get them? Heck, if
you have Fubo and you're trying toget root sports, then you couldn't watch
the National Championship game this past Monday. We're all frustrated, but you know
we can find it and you'll helpus out later. Right, I will
help you out, And here's aquick teaser. I'll give you a free
trial for two months. If youdon't have Apple, I will. Hey,
(11:01):
if I can get my parents tofigure out streaming, I can help
the good people of the Pacific Northwesthere in the Emerald City. I love
this city. I think I bringthe sunshine. You mentioned the roof is
open, and you mentioned that that'srare. I come here all the time,
a couple times a year to dogames, and one time the roof
has been closed and it's been drisklyevery other time. I think you guys
(11:22):
lie to the people of the restof the country and say that it rains
all the time here, because it'salways beautiful when I'm here. Well,
truth be told. Yes, welike that. We kind of like the
reputation. We like the fact they'rehonestly Heidi, and I've worked This is
my hometown and I came back towork in my hometown about sixteen years ago,
but I've worked in other markets, like a lot of us in this
business, in TV and radio andeverything. And it's the time of the
(11:46):
year. There's no better place inthe country mid June through basically the first
part of October. You know,if you like seventy five and sunny,
it doesn't get too hot normally,it's perfect here. So you we'll give
you that in information since you're goingto help us with Apple TV, but
don't share it with anybody, allright, just keep that to yourself nicely.
Year. I'm here exactly you're now, You're with Apple TV, used
(12:09):
to be with MLB Network right fora long time, and the Red Sox
before and and why make the moveto because I know you're a baseball person
through and through. Why make themove to Apple? Well, like you,
I decided I wanted to live closerto family, and I'm from California,
so I told my bosses at MLBNetwork I wanted to move to California
and keep working for you guys. And fun fact, MLB Network actually produces
(12:31):
the Apple TV game. I stillwork for the same people. I still
work with the same people. It'sa wonderful, awesome family and it just
airs on Apple TV Plus, whichis pretty fun perfect. I mean,
the way of the future. You'vegot to get on board or you're going
to be left behind. Well seenow you're speaking a language out here.
That's a really it's a hot buttonfor us, Heidi, because they are
(12:52):
are now former conference, the PACtwelve, the former conference of champions.
How to deal with Apple TV onthe table and certain people, Washington's president
and others decided that they didn't wantany part of that and they bailed on
us. I'm a Wazoo fan andJess works for Wazoo on the sidelines for
Cougar football games. We were allinto streaming on Apple. I would have
(13:13):
wanted to be with you guys thisyear. I was all in on that.
So yeah, I'm with it.Streaming is the future. Though it
feels like baseball was one of thefirst, if not the first, to
kind of embrace that, right Yeah, they yes, and football too,
I mean Thursday football on Amazon Frontis obviously a big one that caught a
lot of people's attention. But Baseballstarted this Apple package. This is the
(13:35):
third year so and the first yearit was there was a lot of confusion,
and now in the third year,it's like people are just if they're
mad, they're mad at streaming asa whole, not us, right.
But I also think that more andmore people are realizing that that's kind of
the way of the future. Andit's such a convenient way to watch because
(13:56):
you can watch anywhere. You don'thave to be sitting at home in front
of your tw television. You canbe anywhere as long as you have a
subscription and you can watch, andit's great. I don't recommend watching while
driving, but I'm not going tosay I don't do that. Sometimes it's
red lights. Red lights are key, That's what that's red lights and no
traffic are about. Yeah, you'rein California, you know what traffic's about.
Sometimes you're just going to park there. Anyway. How do you want
(14:18):
any joining us from Apple TV.She'll be on the call tonight, part
of the crew calling the Mariners andthe cub six forty first pitch on Apple
TV Plus. She'll tell you abouthow you can get a free subscription later
on before we're done, which isnice, good information to have for everybody.
Okay, what we're frustrated out here, Heidi? With the baseball team,
It's been a frustrating start. It'sbeen a really a constant for the
last almost the last decade, butcertain for the last four or five years.
(14:41):
They come out of the gates extremelyslow, and most time they at
least get it turned around at somepoint. They're competitive playoffs two years ago,
pretty competitive last year, had achance to get there, fell just
short. But there are some redflags that we are kind of talking about
on our shows here. One ofthose would be the strength of this team
supposed to be the pitching, andthat has kind of failed them so far.
(15:01):
We knew offensively they may struggle, but the pitching is struggle. What
is the thirty thousand foot view ofour Seattle Mariners out here on the national
level, Well, excuse me.I think the Mariners have a lot of
potential. I think that they arebuilding on last year. I think that
the moves they made this offseason aregood. And even though this small sample
(15:24):
size theater of just a couple ofweeks into the season, they're striking out
an alarmingly high rate, the highestrate in baseball. Right now. They
were supposed to, you know,by getting rid of to Oscar Hernandez,
A Niosrez, got a couple ofguys who strike out a lot that they
were going to bolster that. Ithink that will happen. It's early.
And Julio Rodriguez, I know everyone'skind of panicking, and I would do
(15:46):
if I was a Mariners fan, probably, But he's the guy who started
out slow last year and he stillended up in the MVP conversation. He
still ended up leading the league ina lot of offensive categories. I mean,
just for them, just to harkenback, you're having a hard time,
just harken back to last August andthe run that the team went on.
I do think that's in there forthis team for whatever reason. And
(16:07):
I can't wait to get in thereand talk to the guys today. As
soon as we're done here, I'mheaded over to the field to see what
the temperature is like inside that clubhouseand talk to Scott Service about, you
know, what it is that theythink is going on. But from a
national perspective. I think that peoplestill look at this team as having a
lot of talent. They're in atough division to the Astros. I mean,
if if you want to look atfan base, that should be panicking
(16:27):
right now. I look at Houstonand not you guys. I'm more concerned
about that team. The Rangers aregood. Obviously, they're the defending World
Series champions, so it's not aneasy division. But I definitely think there's
the talent on this team. Theyjust need to turn it around. And
I'm sure that Jerry Tomato and ScottService spent pretty much all day yesterday on
the off day trying to figure outhow HI do a wotney from Apple TV
(16:51):
with US patients. Is not somethingthat sports fans have a lot of in
our town with the baseball team, but it is. It is prunent and
our running joke here are the twowords you just said. It's early,
Like that's the running joke in Seattlefor the way. It actually goes back
to the Sean Figgins days when hesaid that once the problem with Sean Figgins
when on that team, when whenFiggins said it a surly guy that he
(17:11):
was, it was early, butnothing changed. They lost one hundred games.
I think it was will wait, but nevertheless, like we do get
that. I think Julio is thebest example, though, like it feels
like the offense will come around. There is that little bit of a concern
because the strikeout rate is high, like you said, and they literally got
rid of guys a Payroll Suarez,b tay Oscar because of strikeouts. And
yeah, they are striking out fairlyhigh right now. Is that a trend
(17:34):
around baseball? Are they? Arethey the norm? Or is that because
it feels like everyone wants to quotecontrol the zone. Yeah, strikeouts has
been up in the last two years. I mean the three true outcomes has
been a thing for a while now, strikeouts, walks, and home runs.
I think when you mentioned the Marinerspitching staff, I mean, you
(17:55):
guys have a lot of young pitchersand I'm not worried about them. I
mean I'm looking at Tonight's got BryceMiller. He is just on fire and
if you look at just his firsttwo starts, kind of struggle in his
first start, better in his laststart. He added a new weapon this
offseason and his splitter. That's goingto help him a lot against lefties,
And the thing is that these area bunch of young guys who really feed
(18:18):
off each other. They've really growntogether. At least Castio said. It
feels like a family here. Thatpart about it. The pitching part,
I'm not concerned about because I lookat this as one of the best rotations
in baseball. The hitting part's goingto come around. I don't know.
I really can't until I go inand talk to the guys today. I
can't say exactly why the numbers aren'tbetter today, but I'm going to hit
(18:41):
on that in the game tonight.I'm sure we're going to be talking about
it after I talk to these guysin person. I don't like to take
things at face value just from whatI read. I like to talk to
the guys, So I'm not asconcerned as I'm sure Seattle sports fans are.
The numbers aren't great, but Ido think that the moves that they
made the off season should help wellthat. But this isn't the offense that's
(19:03):
going to tear the cover. Thisisn't the Texas Rangers offense. It's just
not. But this is the pitchingstaff that'll keep him in it, and
the offense, I do expect toturn it up. Well. I think
that you made a good point tooabout you know where this where these guys
are too. I mean, isit's with looking at what Houston's going through.
I mean, i'd much rather,I think we'd all agree. I
mean, it's simple bath five andeight a lot better than four and ten
(19:23):
and the Astros sitting there at fourand ten? What are the two of
the wins? Right? One wasthe no hitter by Blanco? And didn't
he have another one too? Imean, one of the best stories,
by the way, what a greatstory with the run now Blanco story.
Is there a better story baseball thanthat? Right now? No, there's
not. And going back to youknow, his daughter is born today,
he finds out he makes the rotation, and he made the rotation only because
(19:45):
of injuries. Throws a no hitterin his first start this season, only
his eighth major league start. Thenext time out, he takes a no
hitter, and I think it wasthe sixth sac I mean, and going
back even further than that, hewas washing cars and he was a guy
in the Dominican that teams would hireto throw batting practice to people that they
(20:07):
were auditioning to hitters, they wereauditioning and imposition players. He wasn't even
on anyone's radar. He was alate signing. If he's thirty years old
now and really just coming onto themajor league scene, his story is crazy
and it's just it's awesome to see. But yeah, there's a there's a
lot more question marks than that team, especially with that young core. See,
this is the thing. The Marinersstill have that young cord. They're
(20:30):
still pretty young. Julia Rodriguez istwenty two. Yew. It's it's between
him and cal. Yeah, wefeel good him and Cal Like we just
you know, we just wish calRale could play every game in Toronto or
against the Blue Jays because he'd beon pace for eighty one home runs like
that fire under him, but JohnSnyder's fire under every single time. He's
(20:52):
going to go out and be baberute exactly how you want me with it.
Yeah, I'm probably a bad Seattlefan in the sense when Blanco pitches,
I root for the guy. Ijust I you know, I watched
the game the other day when heyeah, he took that no hitter in
the sixth inning, and I thinkhe was like six and a third and
then he got a he gave upa legit single and it's like, okay,
that's fine, and he kind ofshook his head. This guy's just
living the dream though. Yeah, washing Cars finds out after the day that
(21:15):
his baby's born. That's what makessports great too, Heidi, And I'm
sure you'll find some of those storiestonight in the clubhouse. It just do
us a favorite. Get more ofthe Mariner stories than Cup stories, all
right, they get enough attention.I'll definitely pet some Mariners stories in there.
Hey, I love this team.I think they're great, they're young,
they're fun. JP Crawford is justlike he's such a great dynamic personality
(21:36):
and a great leader in that clubhouse, mich Hanniger being back talking about a
story of perseverance although like weird freakinjuries he's had. I'm talking to him
in our pregame show today, soI'm looking forward to that. And just
I mean, Mitch Hanniger, whenyou look at his story and how he
really endeared himself to fans at theend of that twenty one season, so
(21:56):
you know, saying, like writingthat letter to the fans and saying we
fell sure. It just really, how can you not get romantic about baseball
and about sports when you see stufflike that, like Renelle Blanco and like
Mitch Hanniker's letter to the fans afterthe twenty one season. This was what's
great about sports? It is showHeyo, Twani and Is and his interpreter
say bet the ender tonight with Wixand Miller on the mound. I sorry,
(22:19):
I can resist. I'm not greatabout sports. Yeah, we won't
dwell on that. That's uh,that's that's the that's the Dodgers in baseball's
issue right now, all right,it should be a fun one tonight,
first of three, first of sixat home for the marriage. They try
to bounce back and build off thewin in extra innings against Toronto the day.
Now, Hi, here's the momentmoment of truth. If we want
to watch you and the Apple TVcrew tonight, and we don't already have
(22:42):
Apple TV Plus, and I assumeApple TV Plus is the same as Apple
TV, right, it's all one. It's the same thing or not.
You tell me walk us through okay, all right, walk us through this,
okay? Yes, And just aquick note, I know you know
This is all Mariners fans, butthe Cubs have one of the best offenses
in baseball in this young season. It's going to be a challenge for Bryce
Miller. I think he's up toit. But this is a good series
(23:03):
this weekend because these two teams bothjust missed the playoff last year by one
game each in their respective division,so they're both hungry for better outcomes this
year. Anyway, onto Apple TV, Apple TV Plus, Yeah, streaming,
it's awesome. I say, comefor the baseball, stay for ted
Loaso in the Morning show, andall the great series that are on there.
(23:23):
I mean ted Loso one of myfavorite all time shows. So if
you go to my handle at HeidiWattie on Twitter, there is a free
two month trial. If you don'thave it, just click on that link.
It's super easy. You can connectanywhere you can get an Internet connection
or a cell phone signal. Andwe'll be on there six o'clock for our
pregame show for our game tonight ifyou just care about our game, if
(23:45):
you want to watch the other Applegames because it's always a Friday night doubleheader.
They've got Jackson Holiday in his homedebut for Baltimore. He came up
just two days ago, Matt Holliday'sson pop prospect in baseball. Tons of
hype on that Orioles team, withthe youth that they have. That game
is I should really know this, but I think it was seven o'clock Eastern,
(24:07):
so four o'clock out here, sothat pre game show would start at
three point thirty. But you canget all of that when you sign up
on Apple TV. Plus. We'vegot a great sports interface. They've got
the MLS on there, They've gotI mean, Apple is just growing in
the sports universe. So if youget on there, you can go take
a take a tour through the AppleSports app and it's done. There's a
lot of fun. There's also agreat Apple Sports app for your phone too.
I'm looking at it right now.Yeah, it says at at Heidi
(24:30):
Watney wat n e y for peopletrying to track it down on the x
slash Twitter app, and it's rightthere very top. There's a link that
Heidi has makes it makes it easyfor all of us and listen. First
of all, this was a tonof fun. I appreciate you coming.
I know you're busy game preps. Not you got you got to get all
that work in, so I appreciateyou covering out some time for us.
Enjoy Seattle and get back here please, because apparently you do bring the good
(24:52):
weather. So when you come backto town, Jessman's gonna call you and
we're gonna bother you again. Ifthat's okay, it sounds good. I'd
love to come back. Have agreat call tonight, Heidi. Thank you
so much. All right, thanks, take care guys. Heney Watney joining
us here on the Beacon Plumbing hotlinewith the stuff. Yeah, that's right
there. So just click the freetwo month trial, which is actually a
(25:12):
better deal because I looked at itthis morning and it's a two seven day
trial. If you just go onyour app on like say, if you
have comcasts, which I do.In others, it's it's a two month
free or it's a one week freetrial. If you go through her,
then it's a two month free trial. You can get that. And the
way you go and I know,listen, I think everyone's frustrated. I'll
(25:33):
touch on this in the next segmenta little bit more. People get frustrated,
like I buy this, I wantto see this. I think I
should get this. You go throughwith the crack and two with you know,
people that have don't have ESPN Plus, but they get rude and they're
like, why can't I watch it? Stuff isn't free, man, It's
it's the unfortunate world we live inright now. Things are not free.
They cost money. The days ofwatching Monday night football for free, Monday
night baseball for free, all thosethings. Yeah, they're long gone.
(25:56):
They are long gone. Okay, well come back, recent show, don't
forget top of the our coseel. We've got Bobby Casper joining us at one
thirty today from augusta National Big Day, a lot of football, more conversation,
is it. Next segment, Yeah, next segment, I'll tell who
Sean Figgins is for the Kraken. That's next. The in for next show,
(26:18):
brought to you by Snow Call meCasino. I'll actually get to the
I'll get to the Sean Figgins comparisonat one forty five during our daily power
Play. I'll do that. I'mjust watching the Masters. This thing is
unbelievable. Tiger Wish just hit aball on eighteen from one sixty seven,
which for him should have just beencenter to green at worst, and the
(26:38):
and the wind pushed it back andleft like I've never seen on a PGA
tour before. It's it's crazy.I mean, if you're a golf fan,
you'll appreciate and yet also it'll makeyou cringe watching this tournament. For
the next next couple of days,we'll check in with Bobby Casper coming up
at one thirty today. We'll alsohave a Master's update in the one o'clock
hour from Augusta National from Westwood One. So all that right here on ninety
(27:00):
three point three KDFM. I didn'tdo this yesterday, and I kind of
wanted to sit back a little bitbecause it's one of those topics. It's
it's sports, but it's also ahot topic button. No, it's not
udub's football situation. I did thatyesterday and we'll wait on that as more
information comes out. The one Iwant to tell Oj Simpson dying yesterday and
(27:23):
you know, seventy six years old, and I always it's wild to think
that the Oj Simpson murder trial andwhat took place with the murder of his
ex wife and her friend, RonGoldman, and then the craziness that was
(27:45):
watching the car the Whites Bronco goingdown the It was nineteen ninety four,
I mean long long time ago.I mean thirty years ago that took place.
And the thing I wanted to justtouching on is this because there's been
a lot of questions and I wasjust talking to a couple of people about
(28:07):
this the other day in regards towhy OJ Simpson is still in the Pro
Football Hall of Fame. Well, the easiest answer, although it's not true
because I'll get to that in asecond, but the you know is he
was never convicted of a criminal crime. Now, he was found liable in
(28:29):
a civil case with the families, but he wasn't convicted of a criminal crime.
In our country, that still iswhat matters. It's like it or
not. The judicial process. Youlive by it, you deal with it,
and it's I think in most casesyou hope that our judicial system is
(28:51):
one of the better things about ourcountry. And I know there's people like
cringing, but it compared to otherplaces, like just let's look at say
right now, all street journal journalistsbeing held in Russia. Things like that.
You probably go down the Amanda Knoxwave one way or the other if
you want. There's different examples andcertainly third world countries, etc. But
(29:11):
I digress. The reason he's inthe Pro Football Hall of Fame is because
in nineteen ninety one they basically changedtheir bylaws a little bit and says this
is the quote from the Pro FootballHall of Fame. The only criteria for
election of the Hall of Fame area nominees' achievements and contributions positive or negative
as a player, a coach,or a contributor. In professional football in
the United States of America, nowthat's different because baseball has a character clause,
(29:34):
and that's why Pete Rose is notin the Hall of Fame, the
all time hits leader. Baseball hasa character clause. The Pro Football Hall
of Fame does not. And reallyit does work both ways. It does
kind of go back and forth.I mean, you could make the argument,
you know, Lawrence Taylor was nota good dude, all kinds of
(29:56):
drug tests he fails. Is oneof the best pass rushers of all time.
He's in the Hall of Fame.Take him out it. I have
a hard time with Pete Rose notbeing in the Hall of Fame. What
he accomplished as a hitter before thegambling allegations came up. He's the all
time hit leader, so you cancut. I don't know what's in four
nine four or five one. Idon't know what's a better option. I
(30:17):
don't know what if if you'd ratherhave baseball where there is his character clause,
or in the case of football, where it doesn't matter if you're the
biggest dirt bag in the world ormaybe an alleged murderer or double murder and
you're in the Hall of Fame becauseyou the first gout a rush for two
thousand yards, one of the alltime greats at your position. So that's
(30:38):
why he's in there. The unfortunatething about OJ Simpson is the obvious,
the tragedy that two lives were takenand by most people. Most people would
believe that, yeah, they weretaken by OJ Simpson, but he wasn't
(30:59):
convicted. But let's just the oneof the like I had. I'm old
enough to remember watching him play. He's one of those guys you would emulate
on the playground, like in thein you know, as an elementary school
kid, just longer and taller thansome guys that played that position. You
know, different body type than saya Walter Payton. Different body type than
a Jim Brown, but powerful andfast, all those things. USC everything
(31:22):
about him USC great running back. But it's just it's a sad part of
the game. And again, Idon't want to diminish the fact that two
lives were taken, because I thinkthat's the I think we agree that's the
most important thing. But man likean American icon, a hero, American
football hero, so to speak, never again, and then the way he
handled it later on as well.I mean, just a broken relationship with
(31:45):
the country that you could have justhad in the palm of your hand.
But I would also say, youknow what, maybe just a really sick
individual when it's all said and doneit When I say, O, J.
Simpson, what's the first thing thatcomes to your mind? Yes,
yeah, not even has by you. That's that's what I think of it.
I grew up with him being becausea gun you know, ye well,
(32:07):
and you and you grew up inNew York. You know obviously Buffalo,
upstate New York, but no Buffalo. I'm from Long Island. I
don't don't you listened Long Island media. I'm just relaxed here. But yeah,
so, I mean, you knowyou're back there where he you know,
at least in the general area wherethe country where he played. You
look at him simply as murderer.I I I didn't watch him play,
(32:32):
so I'm sure that factors into it, is that I did not grow up
watching him play. I knew himas a former football player who was funny
in movies that I would watch withmy parents, and uh, and then
that's it. I was very youngwhen he was convicted. It was announced
over my elementary school loud speakers whenthe I'm sorry, yeah, the trial.
(32:58):
I think as I convicted, Imeant acquitted, acquitted, Yeah,
And it was. It was nationwidenews. It was everything. They broke
into the NBA finals. They brokein the NBA Finals, which was unheard
of back then. It was thefirst car chase. Car chase is a
thing. Is that entire thing,And it's because of what a huge public
(33:19):
figure he was and what was goingon. We had never seen anything like
that. But no, my impressionis murderer. And even though I know
he was acquitted, Yeah, deceitfultoo. I think the way hand,
I'm going to find the murder thatwas his famous thing wrote the book,
did all those things. He waslater convicted of some other things. The
the civil trial, well the civiltrial and then also that the stuff in
Vegas where he went and stole backthe memorabilia and all that kind of thing.
(33:43):
Four nine four to five one.I don't want to get too heavy
on a Friday, but I thinkit is important. I mean, O.
J. Simpson is a big partof America, like he that that
is one of those names across thecountry that does resonate when I say O.
J. Simpson, What comes toyour mind? Four nine, four
to five one. Will check onthose later. Voice text are available for
you as well. You can dothat by going two the iHeartRadio app.
All you gotta do is go thereand check in and send us a voice
(34:06):
text. You just click the littlered microphone. Pretty simple, pretty easy,
and you get thirty seconds to speakin a way you go, So
do that for us as well. We'll come back. What will the Seahawks
defense actually look like as we getready for the draft? Two weeks from
today will be day two of thedraft. How about that? Huh?
Two weeks from to day Day twoof the NFL Draft coming up? What
will the Seahawks defense, especially thefront seven look like great co Cell gave
(34:30):
us a little hint yesterday. We'lltouch in on that, have that discussion.
A couple Masters updates, one fromLess than One, one live from
Augusta with Bobby Casper joining us inthe one o'clock hour, and then Rob
Rang at two o'clock today. Allright here, nine three point three KFM

final score in them that matchup BrianDomlin the soul Crack and goal, Joey
Dax in the net with twenty saves, and Jared McCann though there's a bright
shining star. He wins the PeteMuldine Award Muldoon Award for Team MVP,
(35:15):
voted on by both medias and membersand players. The Mariners did have the
day off yesterday. They're traveling backfrom Toronto and tonight they host the Chicago
Cubs and mister Furness will be givingaway tickets and we will continue to tell
you how just stay tuned elsewhere.National News Kentucky named Mark Pope as the
(35:37):
successor to John Calipari as their newhead basketball coach. Pope was the captain
of Kentucky's nineteen ninety six championship team, previously the head coach at BYU for
the last five seasons. The Mastersin full swing. We've got updates throughout
the afternoon for you, and wehave Bobby Casser coming up in about thirty
(35:58):
minutes, so tuned for that. He's got boots on the ground. Now,
let's get back to you in fornus one o'clock, hour, hour
two of this program. At leasttemporarily, feel free to hire somebody purple
sheets. I'm exhausted. I'm alreadytired with you. Man. When's the
(36:22):
weekend starts, ladies and gentlemen,I got it. It's like Friday,
Part two. Tiger, by theway, finish one over for the second
through. He's one over through thefirst thirty six holes. He's gonna make
the cut projected at four over.Right now, he'll make us. I
think it's a twenty fourth consecutive cut. It at Augusta National he's in.
I'm telling you, we'll talk toBobby about this. It is. It
(36:45):
is crazy looking there Sam blowing outof the bunkers, all kinds of fun
stuff. And at the Augusta NationalBig Weekend coming up final two rounds of
that, Marris start a six gamehome stand this evening is just mentioned Taking
on Chicago. We talked about howyou Watney on Apple Apple TV in the
first hour of the program. Ifyou go to her Twitter page, you
can find out how you can geta free Apple subscription for two months,
(37:07):
so you can go do that ifyou want to watch the game tonight.
And I feel everyone's pain. Listen, every time we bring this up.
Every time we bring up television onthis show, we'll get to grey co
SELLI a minute. But every timewe bring up television on the show,
the same thing over and over again. And I get it. If you're
like, I don't want to pay, it's just it's frustrating. I think
the hardest thing for me, aswith being a sports fan right now is
(37:30):
you know, if you have multipleinterests, multiple teams, it feels like
you're getting Ala Carta to death, right like you just like you, like
I want to watch Root Sports andthe Mariners or Root Sports and the Kraken,
although that probably won't be the casenext year. But you want to
watch Root Sports, so for oneof the two local teams. So I
need to get either Comcast or Fubo. Can't watch this. Well, now
(37:51):
I get Fubo. Then I couldn'twatch the National Championship game. I can't
watch the NHL on TNT, whicha lot of the NHL playoffs will be
there. Can't watch NBA playoffs andbasketball because it's not on TNT with football.
So and I got to get thisand that, and it is a
little hard. I mean, theeasiest thing, honestly is still cable.
It's also probably the most expensive. And I understand why people have trepidation over
that. I totally do don't.I'm not the excite people will for no,
(38:14):
no, no, I get it, man. I don't want to
spend money either. Like we wentthrough this without my wife, and I
went through this last I think earlylast fall, last summer, like we
need to figure out what we're subscribingto. Now. Some of it was
like my stuff, Like what isPFF? She said? I said,
Well, it's Pro Football Focus. She says, do you need that?
(38:34):
Yes? I do. Okay,do we watch Apple TV. I watched
like like maybe two baseball games onit last year. I'm not a I
like the morning show. That oneshow on there with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer
and I like that show. ButI've watched a handful of episodes. I'm
not married to it. I wasaddicted to the first season and then I
fell off. It was bad afterthat, so I shouldn't even know.
I just didn't pick it back up. I mean, you and I both
(38:55):
worked in that business, so it'skind of it's relatable. I don't know
for other people. I don't know, if you're not, it's probably more
relatable for people of worked in thatbusiness. I consumed it, Yeah,
but you know, but baseball's there. I'm not a Ted Lasso guy.
I know. I'm in very muchthe minority. I know. Okay,
I'm jealous because you haven't watched it. That means you haven't watched it,
(39:15):
which means that sometime in the futureyou get to experience it. Yeah.
Well, many many, many otherpeople already have. Yeah, I may
experience it. Well if I dothis. If I if I'm home and
I need to do the two monthfree trial that Heti's given us, then
I probably will. But find yourselfif you need to be sick for a
couple of days, I will understand. Okay, really, if you want
(39:37):
to bitch, you'll understand. Lookat the weather report there's two rainy days,
but you'll understand. The question wouldbe with purple sheet understand you're just
looking a little under the weather. Are you saying that realistically right now?
Or are you just making a commentbecause I do. I'm giving you a
friend and I'm giving you some palpableexcuse. Hey, do you remember what
(39:58):
we did last Friday? The wayreal? QUI? Before I get back
to the football stuff, do youremember like and I except it was brought
up today. I was had aquick chant with chat with our GM here
mister CrossFit over there, old MarkyGosh, what does he just say protein
for like sleep? He eats nailsfor? Yeah, exactly? The guy
does he just it's like eggs, chicken and nails. It's just tough.
(40:20):
It's like, okay, yeah,he's like he's like sixty five years old
and he looks like that. Doyou know that he's like sixty Yeah?
Did you seriously like sixty years oldthis guy. Okay, we'll go with
it. I'll bring him a cakewith sixty candles. Yeah, I see
what he says. Well, inour previous our guy before that, my
(40:40):
man Robert Duffho was our GM beforeMark, and like he was CrossFit guy
too, and he was sixty Actuallyhe was probably closer to seventy. But
anyway, I digress or joking, because I walked Byward. We're kind of
joking. Got so quiet here,he goes. I heard you talking about
our sales guys last week, Isaid, I know, I said,
but it's listen. I would haveprobably showed up today. If I got
(41:00):
called out on the radio on aFriday, I would I would have showed
up. But you know what,I don't see any of them here.
Where's Hobbes, where the worst issuch a hard work? Where's Brown one
and Brown two? Huh? Where'sthe where's the job share browns? Where
are they at todays? I'm justasking where are they today? I'm probably
working from home, but then I'mon this text chain with guys I golf
(41:20):
with huh, And I don't thinkany of these dudes are working either.
Like I need to get the gigwhere you can just basically blow off Friday.
Well you shouldn't be in live radio. I probably shouldn't be, but
you got to get yourself into cosI'm calling all these guys. Well,
yeah, I'll be in the FMsite. Well the music side, Sean
O'Fallon texting, Darren Henny texting,Kenny Reads texting, build A Shawn texting.
Like, these guys don't know.Am I the only guy that works?
(41:44):
What the hell? You're just theonly one that doesn't pay attention to
his phone constantly at work? Theycould None of those guys are working.
They are the golf course. Yeah, I think that's why I'm jealous right
now. I think that's why I'mjealous today. All right, before we
get back to the Master's coverage andall that, will do that on the
hour with our guy Bobby Casper.I want to get to this with Great
Cosell because we're going to talk linebackersat two today with our good friend Rob
(42:07):
rang brought to my Faurlies Pizza. So when we check in with Rob,
we'll go through what we did withCosel yesterday and it's kind of fun and
we're I'll just a quick tease ahead. I think the plan is, well,
I know the plan is because it'swhat my plan wants to be on
the show. And I'm being andI believe it's being executed. Is Anders
is taking all these names, allthese players. Yeah, yeah, so
(42:29):
all every player that we've broken downwith Palazzolo, with Rang and with Cosell
Andres and Jess are putting that together. So the week of the draft,
we're gonna have some some pretty meatyHey remember this guy, Remember this guy?
You know, ideal world. Maybeall three of those guys have talked
about the same player. We goback to back to back with them guys.
(42:49):
It could be Seahawks. And andif you listen to this show,
I think you know that when Iwhen I do draft coverage, everyone does
it differently. The morning guys dothe draftmas stuff. Tree still in here.
They go bananas with with the draft. It's a pretty cool Tree.
I focus in honestly, on onlypeople that I think Seattle. I don't
care about Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels. I don't care about guys that are
(43:13):
gonna go well before Seattle is gonnapick. I really don't care about any
wide receivers. This year. That'snow I say that, and they'll take
a guy in the second round.Freddy Down get a second round pick,
take take the wide receiver. Butyou know what I'm saying, Like I
just I don't care about players Iknow they're probably not gonna get or take.
I care about the guys are gonnatake. And so when we kind
of go through it with with ourthree guys, we really break down dudes
(43:36):
that could be here in Seattle. That makes sense for the Seahawks to pick.
Linebacker is definitely in need. Andso I with that, I kind
of set up this with Rob rangI are with I'm sorry with Greg co
Sel. I want you guys totake a listen to what Greg has to
say, because we talked about acouple of different things. One of those
was who's Seattle's you know lineback theygot. They picked up the two linebackers
(43:57):
both as free agents, Tyrel Dotsonand Jerome By, So you'll hear what
he has to say about that, and then we kind of talk about the
position that they'll play. It's funnyto think that just a few years ago,
Seattle is not too far removed fromplaying more base defense. With three
true stack linebackers than anybody in theNFL. And they did that with kJ
(44:21):
Wright, Bobby Wagner and Michael Kendricks. Remember that just a few years ago
they played bass all like those guys. Those three dudes never came off the
field. That's unheard of in today'sNFL. Now it's two or maybe one
stack linebacker, we think, Butwe don't know what the Mike McDonald defense
is going to look like. Butwe did ask Greg about that. But
first, here's Greg Cosell talking aboutthe two new Seahawks linebackers, Jerome Baker,
(44:46):
Tyrel Dodson is starting with Baker.Yeah, Baker's a little different.
He isn't off the ball linebacker bytrade, and that's what he will line
up. But he's an athletic guy. So when he played in Miami,
there were times he lined up onthe line of scrimmy. It all depends
on your defensive philosophy because when yougo back a few years, not this
past year in Miami when Vic Fangiowas there, but in prior years when
(45:07):
Brian Flores was there, and Ithink Josh Boyer may have been the coordinator,
they did a lot of pressure andhe lined up on the ball a
lot, and he blitzed at times. So he's a very athletic kid who
is multi dimensional in the way hecan be deployed within the context of the
defense. But at his core, you know, when they line up in
their base defense, he will bean off the ball linebacker. But he's
(45:30):
an athletic kid. What about TyrellDobson. Tyrell Dotson is more of your
old school stacked off the ballpacker. He's a box linebacker, a good size,
physical in the box, can navigatewell in there. Not really an
athletic kid like you would not playhim in your sub in your sub defenses.
(45:50):
Yeah, I mean, because hereplaced who was it that got hurt
for buy, he replaced the guythe kid that got hurt. Well,
Matt Milano got hurt last year. He's not not Matt Milano obviously, who's
one of maybe three or four bestall around linebackers in the league. But
Dotson is, as I said,he's he's a different kind of player.
He's in today's NFL, he'd bea base defense player because he just doesn't
(46:12):
have the athleticism, the movement, the range to really play in your sub
packages. He's not really a coverageplayer, but he's a thumper, you
know, if you're playing your basedefense, That's what he is. Before
we get to some of the linebackersin the draft, Greg and you know,
if we talked about Baker and Dotson, I guess it's probably important for
us to kind of get a feelfor like we did last week. We
(46:35):
did this last week with the interiordefensive lineman Mike McDonald based on what you
saw with the Baltimore Ravens defense. How does he utilize the linebackers? Is
it going to be maybe like we'retalking about two guys playing that position for
Seattle last year. It's a littledifferent world now. So even when I
bring up Luosu and those guys,it's maybe it's different how they're aligned.
It's going to be because he's nota five to two for front guy unless
(46:55):
he changes based on the personnel thathasn't. That's something we don't know as
you and I speak in mid April, we don't know exactly how he will
feel that he can best deploy hispersonnel. You know, Basically when he
was with the Ravens last year, you know, his base front was four
down. So we'll see how allthat plays out in Seattle, because we
(47:19):
know certainly that Mafe lined up onthe ball. You know, will will
he be seen as a defensive end, Will he be seen as a linebacker.
Maybe he's going to be an offthe ball linebacker and that you know,
who know, we don't know that, And that's why this is so
interesting. This is the kind ofstuff I love in the offseason, particularly
when coaches move and where they're going. The previous year the team played differently
(47:45):
than than that guy played, youknow, when he was the coordinator.
So we don't know that, butyou know, we know that Seattle's base
front a year ago under Clint Hurtwas five to two. They played with
you know, five across, andI don't anticipate that we'll see much of
that from Mike McDonald, to behonest with you. Yeah, and you
(48:06):
know the five across and if youknow, sometimes they call you call it
a three four because it's three true. And we did this a lot on
hardcore football last year with Hugh They'vegot three what you would call true defensive
lineman. And you know, inthe case of Seattle last year, a
lot of times it was say DraymondJones, Jaren Reeds, you know,
a Leonard Williams, what have you. And and then the two what they've
(48:28):
called linebackers or more edge rushers arejust edge players and Mafe Nuosu Taylor,
Derek Hall, guys like that. That's why I think we're all kind of
curious to see what this looks likethis this fall, or even really this
summer when we see him on thefield for the first time. But there
is absolutely no doubt when you listento Greg there, that they have a
pretty massive need at linebacker. MaybeBaker can be really good. I don't
(48:52):
didn't get the impression he would bemaybe necessarily your true Mike linebacker from listening
to what Greg said there. Youknow, going into a season with rookie
linebackers seems to be a little bitscary, but you know what they've done
that before it worked out. Okay, that bar high. I get that.
One of those guys is a lotis a Hall of Famer. His
name's Bobby Wagner, came in,was a first day starter. Before that,
(49:14):
a guy that started for the firsttime in his career started it being
a linebacker his rookie year. Theyear before was a guy by the name
of kJ Wright, and remember hestarted it, you know, and then
and then he would actually fill inat Mike a lot of times if if
Bobby was banged up, what haveyou. But you know, those guys
came in right away and assimilated himselvesand played great football. You know,
Malcolm was here as well. Hewas drafted in that first draft, so
you know, they've had guys thatcould play that particular position. And it's
(49:36):
wild because you just kind of getso spoiled with those dudes for so long.
Even when Bobby leaves, you stillhad a Jordan Brooks who was solid,
you know, maybe not spectacular, and and you know, I know
when he and I talked about it, he always seemed to be in a
better situation playing the will. Lastyear was a little bit harder for him
coming off the ACL, But they'restarting from scratch at a pretty significant position
(49:59):
on the phoneotball team. You know, we talked about Peyton Wilson from NC
State yesterday, we talked about EdrinCooper yesterday from Texas A and m Junior
Colson is a name that I thinkeveryone knows, but he wasn't the linebacker
necessarily that the Greg Cosell, forexample, liked as much as Michael Barrett,
also from Michigan, who's a littlebit undersized and not the same name
(50:22):
recognition you have with Colson, easyname to remember, kind of a guy.
They showcased a lot at Michigan. You know, those are guys we
all talked about. Jeremiah Trotter fromClemson. You know, instinctive was the
word used yesterday with Trotter. Veryinstinctive, which you kind of want to
find that guy. You want tofind that that linebacker as well. And
then we hit on a couple otherguys, Tommy Eikenberg, I know Cosell
(50:45):
wasn't real high on him. Idon't think Raang is either. Cedric Gray
from North Carolina, kind of asocial guy. There's a lot of guys.
These are a lot of these guys. Almost all these guys are at
best Day two picks, and alot of them are Day three picks as
well. That could be that couldbe sitting there for Seattle, but they're
Make no mistake, you draft. The whole thing about drafting the best player
(51:07):
available. If the best player availablesitting there for Seattle in one of their
first picks is a wide receiver. They're not taking a wide receiver. They
just like like best player available. With the caveat of common sense comes into
play, right, you have tohave a little bit of common sense.
You're not going to just go outand draft like there's no room. I
(51:29):
mean, it's it's the third widereceiver they finally got last year to go
with Lockett, who they're committed toat least for another year, and dk
who they're committed to for longer thanthat. But they need they need linebackers,
they need interior offensive linemen. Andif you're kind of looking through the
process in the interior the offensive line, which we focus in a lot with
(51:49):
Paalozolo and Ranks specifically, that's yourbiggest need. Doesn't mean you're going to
make that your first pick, butthose are your biggest needs. Those are
the biggest gaping holes in your rosterright now. I am excited to see
what this Mike McDonald defense springs. When we had ennan Uwo's who on yesterday
you could tell and I talked aboutthis when I filled in for Dick when
he was coming back from from youdubh when the stuff kind of went south
(52:13):
and we're talking about this with Hugh. You know, there's certain guys and
that great point by Hugh, there'scertain guys that maybe gravitate more and need
and like kind of the hard assapproach. And when you hear the players
talking about how McDonald and his staffare and especially the new head coach,
there's a little bit of a harderedge there than certainly it was with Pete.
(52:34):
And you know, I don't knowchennan Uwo's who great, but I've
talked to him probably as much,if not more than almost anybody on that
roster over the last few years. And that dude's as serious as a day
as long about football. Like heis one serious dude, And I think
I listened to him yesterday, Ifelt like he truly did appreciate and like
(52:58):
what was going on with this, with this situation. I think this is
a guy that was digging what hehas with Mike McDonald and really kind of
appreciated that hard, hard attitude andmaybe it's something that's needed. I think
it is needed with the secondary,a young secondary. I think some discipline
is needed with those guys. Sowe'll keep an eye on all of them.
Okay, we've got a master's update, Jess tells me in just a
(53:19):
couple of minutes from Yeah, we'regoing to kind of go back to back
masters, but it's the Masters. It's a Friday, What the hell.
We'll have a Master's update from WestwoodOne coming up, and then we'll check
in with our our buddy Bobby Casperfrom Real Golf Radio at one point thirty,
and we'll just get a feel fora guy that's been walking on the
Crowns today, how crazy hard itis that golf course is today. Jordan
Speak's nine over, Hey, Yai, nine over for Jordan Speith. That's
(53:43):
a guy that just flourishes in roughconditions and around the greens. If he's
at nine over cuts at least fourover right now, it is. It
is heinous out there. So we'llcheck in with those guys our daily power
play at one forty five. Whois the Sean Figgins comp for the Seattle
Craft. I'll tell you who thatis coming up at one forty five today
and kind of fill you in onwhat we were hearing at CPA last night
(54:06):
about the future of Dave Hackstall. So that's at one forty five, and
then Rob Rang talking all things andfl draft that's coming up at about two
to five today. All right, let's get a Westwood Went update in.
We'll get that checked out. Thenwe'll come back and talking with Bobby Casper
at Augusta next. Welcome Back tothe East show brought to you by Snowkawalmi
(54:31):
Casino. It is Cel's closest casino, Snoqualma Casino. After all, Jess,
I like the golf talk the Ilike the voice. That's good,
that works well. I think ourrejoin is a little too aggressive for masters.
The music. Welcome back. Yes, we're here on the Friday of
Augusta National Masters Tournament. Uh socall me casino sales. Closest casino you
(54:52):
can swing on by if you had. I don't know Jordan Speeth this weekend.
In your in your picks, inyour odds. The sports book is
Stokalma Casino. You know I gotbad news for you, not gonna happen.
He is headed back to Texas, heading back home or Florida, where
he's living these days. Bobby CasperReal Golf Radio joins us right now on
the Beacon Plumbing hotline. Sir,you must be inside if you can hear
(55:15):
us and talk to us because itlooks like there's a hurricane going on down
there in Georgia right now. Itis definitely howling right now. Ian,
how are you doing. I'm good, I'm good. Can you or before
we get into some of the golfers, you've been there a lot, and
for people that are watching, orwe'll watch, they're gonna see highlights later
like sand blowing out of sand traps, which you don't see in golf much
(55:37):
that often. How windy is it? How would you describe how the wind
is right now? Well, it'sgusting up to thirty thirty five miles an
hour right now, but it's prettysteady. It's probably about twenty five,
and it's it's causing a lot ofhavoc. You know, guys will Guys
will go along pretty good and makesome birdies and feel like they're they're making
(56:00):
some headway, and then all ofa sudden, you know, they hit
an errant shot. Then they getout of position and they'll make a bogueyear
double bogie pretty quick. So it'sit's been fun to watch. We've seen
some great play. Max Homa beautifulround of one under par and finished at
six six under total. Tiger Woodsstarted the day at plus one, had
(56:22):
three birdies and three bogies and gotit out an even par round, and
it was a phenomenal round. Heshot even par, and the low round
for the day so far right nowis lou big Aberg and he shot sixty
nine. He's in the clubhouse rightnow. So that's a phenomenal round of
(56:42):
golf in the conditions. So evenpar is that like what's considered good today,
because I mean, if three underis the low round at you know,
with the best golfers in the world, what would be considered just a
pretty good round today. So justso you know, there's only nine guys
under par right now, and someof them are still out on the golf
course. Okay, So a greatround is anything from you know, one
(57:10):
over par, maybe a couple overpar to even par is a great round
of golf today with the conditions andeverything. So it's been brutal, it's
been really brutal today, and it'stough. It's really tough, especially down
a naming corner and across thirteen, fourteen and fifteen and sixteen. Let's talk
(57:31):
about listen, we'll go through someof the other guys in a second.
But man, oh man, TigerWoods, forty eight years old, and
as you mentioned, you know,he shoots even par today Spectator and he
was scrambling, he was grinding.Oh yeah, walk us through Tiger and
where he is, because to me, it just speaks to how great he
(57:52):
is always has been that he's ableto get through make another cut at Augusta.
Yeah, twenty four in a row. That's the record now. So
yeah, he you know, he'she's qualified to play in Augusta. I
think what twenty twenty six times,But there were three or four years,
(58:13):
five years maybe that he didn't thathe didn't make it, but or he
didn't play because of injury or somethinglike that. But he he's twenty four
in a row now of making thecut when he's teed it up. But
you know, he he made agood birdie on four, turned around,
turned around and made a bogeyon on, good birdie on three, sorry,
(58:36):
made a bogeon five birdie on six, and and was just clipping along.
Ended up shooting even par on thefront and with one birdie and one bogey
on the back, shot thirty sixon the back, two for seventy two.
Like you said, he got itup and down from everywhere. He
made some really nice pots for pars, four or five six footers for pars
(58:57):
in the windy conditions. His lastwas on the last hole. He had
about four or five feet on thelast hole to shoot even And like you
said earlier, Sam's flying out ofthe bunker. Guys are getting Sam blasted
and that kind of thing. AndTiger waited for it to settle down a
little bit, and then he proceededto knock the putt in and shoot seventy
(59:19):
two. So I was very impressedwith the way he played. He played
twenty three holes today and this week, should he go on to finish the
next thirty six holes, will bethe first time he's played a full seventy
two holes in about the last yearand a half. Wow, he's nine
off the pace right now. Ithink Deschambo's at eight under through thirteen today,
(59:42):
Max Holmes second at six under. Then Scheffler comes in at five hunder.
So let's say Deshamble he may haveone that comes in hants him.
Let's let's say the leaders at sevenish. Let's just use seven as a
number kind of with there's being homein Deshamble, let's say he's eight off
the pace, still in it?And is anybody like what, who's still
in it? What's the number? If the number to day ends up being
(01:00:05):
for the leader, ends up beingsay six or seven, who's still in
it heading in the weekend, what'sthe number? The cut, by the
way, is projected at four over, So who's still in it? Like?
Is it one over, two overor do you have to be even?
What do you think? Still init? So Jackie Burke, who
passed away this year, he camefrom eight back. He was eight back
after thirty six holes, and hewas eight back after fifty four holes and
(01:00:28):
he won the golf tournament. Soanybody that's the record, So anybody eight
or better is going to have achance. You know, Gary Player was
seven back going to the final roundand he won. So you know,
if you can make the cut, then you get out earlier tomorrow and you
(01:00:49):
have a little bit more moisture inthe golf course and you can post a
score, then you can work yourselfright back into it. Bryson just made
a bogie at the fourteenth hole. He's currently playing the fifth teenth holes,
so he's at seven homes at sixScheffler's at six through eight holes, he's
on the ninth hole. Then you'vegot Yogaard at four under, Danny Willetts
(01:01:09):
at four under, Then you gotDavis Morikawa at three under, and then
Obert and Fox and can't lay ittwo under. The great story Danny Willett
seven months ago had a full reconstructionon his shoulder, didn't think he was
going to be able to play.He hadn't played around of golf, in
(01:01:30):
competitive golf since seven months ago.And he comes out and shoots sixty eight
in the first round and he's evenpart today through sixteen holes with two holes
left to play. So that's aphenomenal story with Danny Willett, a former
champion here in two thousand, whenyou went in twenty sixteen, and good
(01:01:51):
for him. I'm excited for himand that he's playing well. Bobby casteral
golf ready with us. Most surprisingblow ups with b Speeth at nine over
and what happened to a guy thatusually can scramble as well as anybody.
Yeah, you know, he missedthe cut here two years ago, and
then he went the next week andwhen it field hid and coming in here,
(01:02:14):
you know, he's his putting isremarkably better than it was a year
ago as far as his stats ontour. But he was hitting very errant
shots last week in San Antonio, some really kind of off the charts type
of thing. And I think withthe wind and everything, that compounded it
(01:02:34):
all and that's why you see that. But he made a nine on the
fifteenth hole in the first round.I think he rinsed it a couple of
times in the water, ended upmaking nine a quadruple bogie and then bogie
the last hole to shoot seven overpar in the first round. And he
and he came back in two overtoday, but very very on Jordan,
(01:02:58):
like, no doubt my guy.Now your guy Feenale, what the heck?
He's three over. He's putting forBirdie, I think right now,
But what happened to my guy TonyFinale? Bobby, I ran to the
damn casino because of you, LikeI'm telling you telling me, I ran
the casino to the female. Wellnow what happened? Oh I'm sorry?
No, he just you know,he with the wind and stuff, it's
(01:03:22):
just it's so difficult with everything, and you know, he he just hit
a couple of Aaron shots early on, made double bogie at the fourth hole
and then was able to make abirdie. I think he made a birdie
at six, but then he turnedaround and made it, made a bogie
at seven, and then he bogiedthe tenth pole as well. So now
(01:03:45):
it's you know, now it's justtrying to hold on and maybe sneak went
in coming coming down the final fouror five holes, six holes and uh
and see if you can get init at one over part or maybe even
back to even. So things arethings are kind of crazy difficult right now.
Well, that's the thing. Itlooks like Rory's on eighteen. Looks
(01:04:06):
like he's got a chance to finisheither one over or even I would say,
as you just mentioned that, wouldthat would make him he's still in
it then, Like Rory's still init a guy that might be in a
danger of missing the cut. Thedefending champion, John Rahm has not played
well. I think he's three overright now. Yeah, like you said,
cuts, it cuts at plus fourright now, there are what forty
(01:04:28):
six total of fifty two players atplus four or better. Yeah, he's
got a he's got to maintain wherehe's at if not get a little bit
better and hope not to go tothe other direction. Could five over be
end up being the cut? Couldit end up going to five? It
could slip the five. Yeah,it could slip the five. There's only
there's there's two spots. Cut isfifty and ties in the Masters went to
(01:04:55):
that about three or four years ago. It used to be anything within ten
of the league, but no longer. And currently right now there's fifty two
players, like I said, atplus four and then you hit the plus
fives and so just a couple ofthose guys, two or three of those
guys need to need to bounce downa little bit and then you bring all
(01:05:16):
the plus fives back in. Let'sgo. Let's I mean, just is
a win gonna be like? Thisis a win gonna be like this tomorrow?
No, it's gonna be. It'sgoing to be more like like ten
to twelve miles an hour. Wilsonus up to twenty. And then on
Sunday it's supposed to be very benignand a beautiful day in the low to
(01:05:39):
mid eighties, and it's going tobe a great day for scoring and a
great day for a shootout for theMasters Champion. In the meantime, people
can figure it out or listen toReal Golf Radio t help you about real

well, do we have tolomore Dohere? We got something? Where's our
guy Ryan? Like? I likelike he's kind of disappeared? Oh no,
well where'd he go? I don'tknow, but he's our Tollomar Du

Gin guy, which has got meactually a little bit more concerned than the
(01:08:49):
Tulomar Do. I like myself fromTalamore. Do I really need some Hendrix
Gin. I'm a little more whiskeyand scotch in the winter and then in
the summer. It's definitely a gintime. There you go. I like
that. Yeah, I I ginzayes or no, and a lot of
people to know. I get that. I'm not a boy, but I'm
a gin guy. And Henry somecucumber with my gin. I am a
(01:09:11):
okay, really cucumber, tonic andcucumber, just cucumber and rocks. What
do you do cucumber soda? Soda? Now, I don't do the tonic.
It's a little too much for me. Just some straight so too much
flavor. You don't like the tonicflavor? Yeah, I was gonna say,
cause you get the like our guysat Cascade Ice Water make a kick
ass diet tonic water. I've donethe diet too. It's just the flavor.
(01:09:32):
I just love the Hendrix so muchthat I want to taste only that,
so the soda just cuts it.I gotcha, I got you.

I'm watching a ball. I thinkthat Xanderschoff. You know Gary Woodland,
(01:11:05):
He's not going to make the cutanyway. He was standing over a putt.
He had marked it, standing overit, and it no word to
a lie. It rolled seventy eightyfeet to the right like I've never seen
that before with that wind or yeah, totally wind, just the wind.
They're trying to figure out where tomarket back now. So yeah, fun
(01:11:26):
times at Augusta. Okay, let'sget to it. Is he standing by
our guy, mister draft himself forof our never ending coverage of the NFL.
It's time for Ian's weekly visit withRob Rang from Foxsports dot Com,
brought to you by Ferrelli's Pizza onyour Home for the twelfth Man and the
NFL Sports Radio ninety three point threekJ r FM. Rob Rang Thanks to
(01:11:51):
Ferrelli's Pizzarellispizza dot com. He iswith us as he is every Friday during
the fall, every Friday leading upto the draft, and two weeks from
today we will be in the middleof what Rob rang loves. It's called
the NFL Draft, and I thinktwo weeks from today would also be the
start of the two days. Youprobably enjoy most of the draft, right
(01:12:12):
Rob. Day two and day threethat's kind of your as your wheelhouse,
my friend. Yeah, no questionabout ian. Day two and Day three
are awful lot of fun. AndDay four actually with the free agency,
is also interesting because there's there's somany players out there who were initially your
heartbroke. Of course they didn't heartheir name called, but they actually wound
up signing with clubs that maybe theyhave a better opportunity to actually make the
(01:12:35):
team. So that's an exciting dayas well. We had Greg Cosell on
Thursday. He always comes on Thursdaysand you come on Fridays. And I
asked Greg yesterday about the two newSeahawk linebackers, Baker and Dotson. His
thoughts were, Baker can probably stepin and play, you know, quality
snaps for he Dotson is maybe moreof a role player, which leads us
all to kind of believe that youand I have talked about this as well.
(01:12:58):
They need to find whether it's anddepending on how Mike mcgoll runs his
defense, at least a couple truestack linebackers, whether it's in the remaining
free agency via trade or certainly theNFL draft before we go through some of
the names that you've that we've gotto go through today, Rob, how
is that part of the draft classlooking this season that the true box or
stack linebackers. It's I would sayit's below averaging, and that's one of
(01:13:24):
the reasons why this is definitely anarea of concern for the Seahawks and why
I think that that Sea Ile deservessome credit for being willing to take a
player or sign a player like aJerome Baker who is not that traditional stack
or box linebacker. He's at hisbest in space, and I think that's
going to help alleviate some of thecoverage issues that Seattle had with two very
(01:13:46):
good linebackers and Bobby Wagner and JordanBrooks. But at the same time,
Brooks never played quite as instinctively ashis straight line speed would suggest. And
Bobby Wagner is just not the sameguy you know in twenty twenty three that
he was when he ran four tofour and his pro day Utah State all
those years ago. So I lovethe addition of Jerome Baker in that regard
(01:14:10):
him. This is talking about fullerPro bowler there and still a relatively young
linebacker. And I actually am higheron Tyrell Dotson than a lot of people
are. To me, he isthat traditional stack linebacker, and I think
we should be really clear about whatthat is. That's those guys here have
the size, the physicality, andthe temperament really to be able to take
on a guard in the hole,be able to discard them and make tackles,
(01:14:31):
you know, right there, ratherthan five eight yards downfield the way
that unfortunately Seale's linebackers last couple ofyears they've done. So this is a
class that lacking a little bit inthat regard, but I think it's gonna
make the Seahawks have to be thatmuch more strategic with where they draft these
players. All right, let's gothrough some of these names and get your
thoughts. We'll start with Peyton Wilsonfrom North Carolina State. Yeah, six
(01:14:55):
two and thirty pounder Ian and heis the best athlete of this year's draft
or this year's linebacker class. Thatsaid, he is not one of those
stack linebackers. There's got some medicalissues going all the way back to high
school. I've been, you know, as encouraged as I have been about
say Michael Pennix junior's medical and someof the other players Leatu Latu from UCLA,
(01:15:16):
a More Trophy Award winner getting somepositive feedback on them. I had
not received positive feedback with Peyton Wilson. I suspect he is. He's a
first round caliber player, one ofthe absolute best players in all of college
football year ago. Ian. Hewill certainly be in the second day.
Edrin Cooper Texas A and M,and you got him as what a first
(01:15:39):
or second round grade? Maybe?Yeah, he's my favorite linebacker in this
class. And he is a littlebit slighter than what I would prefer as
that traditional stack linebacker, but heis. He's so damned slithery as a
pass rusher. I believe had eightand a half sacks this past season to
Texas A and M. And ofcourse that's going against SEC Competition's got really
(01:15:59):
low long arms, thirty four incharms, and again he is very just
smooth through traffic, and so hedoesn't do it in the traditional way of
just being able to, you know, stack blockers at the point of attack
and stack and shed is what wealways like to say. He just kind
of smoothly gets by them and isable to just recavoc at the line of
(01:16:21):
scrimmage. I think that his speed, his agility, and his ability to
get home as a pass rusher makeshim one of the kind of dark horse
candidates for the Seahawks, not necessarilynumber sixteen overall, but in a trade
down scenario, I think he's morein that twenty five to thirty two type
of arrange. And if he doesfall into in the early second round,
(01:16:43):
then I think that he might besomebody that seatle is going to try to
position themselves to get him, becausehe just feels like a player who is
very much just an ascending talent, his best best footballs ahead of him.
I'm going to get to the twomission guys in a second of we'll kind
of stack those stack linebackers potentially togetherin a second. How about Jeremiah Trotter
junior from Clemson. Again, Ithink what you have a day too great
(01:17:04):
on him. I do, buthe is one of my favorite linebackers in
this classy And the name Jeremiah Trottersounds familiar, should I mean his dad
was a four time Pro bowler andplayed twelve years in the NFL. And
his dad was a much bigger man. His dad was six to two hundred
and fifty pounds and Jeremiah Trotter Junioris six foot two hundred and twenty five.
(01:17:26):
I mean, he looks almost lookslike more like a safety out there,
but he's an incredibly instinctive player andhe understands how to use leverage.
You know, I hate using anycomparison to one of the in my opinion,
one of the most underrated linebackers, and you know, in NFL history
really, but certainly one of themost revered linebackers in Seahawk history. And
(01:17:46):
that being low for the two boob. That's the kind of instincts that I
see from Jeremiah Trott. This guymade plays, whether it be going up
against quarterbacks as a pass rusher, dropping into coverage. He only played three
years at Clemson. He's a twotime All American there. To me,
he is one of those guys, even though he's an inch or two shorter
than you might prefer it to thattraditional stack linebacker. I just think that
(01:18:09):
the kids a playmaker who I thinkwould make an awful offense. He is
one of a few linebackers in thisclass and who I feel like you can
get on day two and still beable to expect him to come in and
compete for a starting role immediately.I'm not even gonna go down the Notre
Dame the linebacker's route for a second, because i know what your thoughts are
on his and they seem to echoeveryone else's. And I'll just say,
(01:18:29):
just a guy, and I'm noteven to pronounce his name, so we'll
just move on. Let's get tothe Michigan guys. Junior Colson Michael Barrett.
A pair of Michigan linebackers a fardifferent rating and you know, grade
for these guys in terms of wherethey may go. But let's talk about
Colson and Barrett. Yeah, it'sfunny that they both play at the University
of Michigan. Of course, haveso much familiarity with Mike McDonald because from
(01:18:51):
a size speed perspective, they reallycouldn't be much different. Junior Colson is
that six foot one, two hundredand forty pounds that you know. It's
kind of exactly the way you drawhim up. If you want a stack
linebacker, if you want that traditionalthree to four inside linebacker, that thumper,
as our buddy Mike Homgren would callhim, then Junior Colson is that
(01:19:15):
guy. He was my favorite ofthe linebackers this year, and for what
I think that Mike McDonald is lookingto bring to the table. He definitely
is the most physical linebacker in thisclass. And I love the fact that
not only did he star for Michigan, but he had some of his best
performances in the biggest games national Championshipgame against Washington of course, but especially
(01:19:36):
against Alabama. He was the bestplayer on the field in my opinion against
Alabama, and that's obviously saying alot. Michael Barrett, on the other
hand, he's more five eleven twoand thirty pounds and so he's a little
bit undersized, but he is justtough as nails, doesn't have great speed.
He's going to be whereas I expectJunior Colson to be probably a second
(01:19:57):
round player, I wouldn't be surprisedas all, Michael be is around in
that fifth, sixth, even maybeseventh round range. I took to some
clubs out there think that he maygo undrafted. But he's a really instinctive
player, just makes an awful lotof plays. So he might be one
of those guys if he's available late, if the Seahawks use one of those
late fourth round selections or sixth roundselections to make sure that Mike McDonald has
(01:20:20):
somebody who knows his system and cankind of play that role a coach on
the field. Well, let's staywith the rivalry and we go from Michigan
to Ohio State. Tommy Eikenberg.I believe you have like a third to
fourth round grade on the kid fromOhio State. Iickenberg. Yeah. And
I don't really like Tommy Iickenberger.I just think he's a limited player.
He's not an elite athlete. Heis as you know, as polished as
(01:20:43):
it gets, though. I mean, he is a very instinctive player.
He uses his hands very well,he's quite physical. He's just not an
elite athlete. And so to behonest with you, I'm going to mention
another former Seahawk linebacker, and theremight be some groans from the crowd.
You know when I say this name, But remember Cody Barton starred an awful
lot of games, uh, youknow over the last couple of years,
(01:21:04):
not only in Seattle but then signedwith Washington. I believe and and that's
the thing is I believe that TommyIkenberg can be a starter in the NFL.
I just don't know that he's evergoing to be a starter that's really
going to move the needle for you. But still considering the fact that he's
likely to come off the board someonethat those middle rounds, third, fourth
(01:21:25):
round is where I have him. He's got the NFL blood lines is his
older brother Liam Iikenberg was an offensivelineman at Notre Dame is currently a starter
along the Miami Dolphins offensive line.I love the blood lines. I love
the consistency over his career. Ijust don't see a guy who's going to
be a front line starter for along time in the NFL. All I
(01:21:45):
want to get I want to geta couple other names in here real quick.
Cedric Gray from North Carolina. Uh, probably a second to third round
grade on him, and sounds likea guy that does make plays. You
talk about guys maybe limited. That'sjust going to a guy you can play.
He's gonna be just okay. Itsounds like there's an upside with Cedria
Gray. There really is. Thisis another guy who basically played three years
(01:22:05):
at North Carolina, kind of likeJeremiah Trotter and just very much filled up
the stat box. I mean,he did everything. He just isn't the
most instinctive linebacker. He almost likeruns his way into plays at times.
You know, he is six foottwo, two hundred and thirty pounds,
runs really well, has made alot of plays and coverage, can be
a sack guy. He's just notespecially physical. He's more of the Jerome
(01:22:30):
Baker type in my opinion, thatis at his best in space rather than
really in the box where it getspretty physical and nasty there. I think
he can grow into that. Andeven despite the fact that he's not the
most physical linebacker, he's not themost you know, I wouldn't say he's
quite as instinctive as some of theother linebackers in his class. He made
so many big plays over his careerthat you're like, you know, with
(01:22:51):
a little bit of polished this guyreally could be something. So to me.
He is a player I'm still tryingto figure out. I mean,
I like him, I just don'tknow how the hell he made so many
big plays over his career when sometimesthe ball is going one way and he
feels like he's going the other. But you know, North Carolina did a
great job of helping their skill positionplayers out, but they haven't had a
(01:23:12):
lot of really great defensive players overMATC. Brown's tenure. You put him
in Mike mcdonald'system, and maybe he'sable to coax out that much more talent.
All right, we're gonna run outof time, so let me we
get one or two other guys.Tyree Knight from UTAP and I think he
visited Seattle, correct he did,And he's an interesting one. He's one
of my favorite of the day threecandidates. You know, this is another
(01:23:33):
one. He kind of extraly remindsme a little bit of Tyrel Dodson,
of course, the linebacker that Seattlesigned from the Buffalo Bills, in that
he is just a you know,he's like a Sherman tank. I mean,
he just runs into track, heinvites contact, and so that's one
of the things I like about there'sgoing to be some mistakes, but there's
also going to be plenty of bigtime collisions. And so Tyrese Knight,
(01:23:58):
who of course is a former collegeteammate of Rik Woolan, I think that
there's some interesting carry over there interms of a dynamic athlete who is still
an ascending player. All Right, rob Ryang brought to you by Forrelli's Pizza.
I'm gonna give you the choice ofone more from these three. Nathaniel
Watson Mississippi State, Trevin Wallace fromKentucky, Curtis Jacobs Penn State. Which
(01:24:21):
of those three guys that are allprobably Day three picks, Which of those
three guys would be a Seahawk MikeMcDonald type of guy. That's an interesting
question. I think you can makean argument for any one of the three
of them. I'm gonna go withthe most high profile of the bunch,
and that's Nathaniel Watson. And forMississippi State, you know, hey,
we've mentioned a bunch of other formerSeahawk linebackers Mississippi State. That's of course,
(01:24:45):
for kJ Wright was a superstar. And it's not the kJ Wright and
Nathaniel Watson are similar players. Watsonis a little bit shorter, but he's
also very stout six two and fortypounds. He's kind of a classic frame.
He just doesn't have very good speed, but the production was through the
roof. He actually led all ofcollege football and tackles and you combined the
(01:25:09):
last two seasons. He was theSEC Defensive Player of the Year this past
season. Ian, I mean becausehe is he just racks up sacks and
big plays along the line of scrimmage. I mean that the statistics are eye
popping. I'm surprised that you knowthat some of the stats or the analysts
analytical websites out there don't have themas a first round pick. The problem
(01:25:30):
is is he just doesn't His gamedoesn't translate very well to the NFL.
He doesn't play that well in space. He's he's not very good in coverage,
to be honest with you. Butif you're looking for a guy to
be a run stuffer and a guywho has some real savvy when it comes
to attacking quarterbacks as a pass rusher, if Daniel Watson can be a guy
again on Day three that I thinkis going to be a quality player,
(01:25:53):
just not the future pro bowler thathis statistics at the college level would suggest,
and you are good. Two weeksfrom to day, we're gonna test
to make sure you still are assharp as ever. I have no doubt
that that will be the case,my friend, You'll be on top of
