It's time for Egan's weekly visit with NFL Films Greg So,
brought to you by Seattle Cider Company on your home
for the twelfth Man and the NFL Sports Radio ninety
three point three kJ r FM.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
All right, here we go on a Friday afternoon. Yeah,
we got a lot of baseball to get to. But
you know, we do this every week. We have our
guy Greg Cosel on and we love having these Friday
visits with Greg from NFL Films, ESPN Matchup Show, and
he joins us once again courtesy of our friends at
SIMP at Seattle Cider and Greg. We got a lot
going on here in Seattle this weekend, my friend, I mean,

(02:33):
we got a lot going on. We got two baseball
playoff games coming up. We got one on Saturday at
five thirty. We got one on maybe five, yeah, five thirty,
then five o'clock on Sunday. We're gonna squeeze an NFL
game in there as well on Saturday afternoon at one
o'clock Pacific time, all in the same area. Greg, there's
like one hundred thousand people are gonna be down in
that area getting ready to go. But we're here to

(02:53):
talk NFL football, Seahawks and Tampa Bay. My friend, how
are you?

Speaker 4 (02:58):
I'm doing great, and you I had a pretty good
football team too so far. You know, it's not only
the Mariners obviously had a great year, but the football
team looks pretty good.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
They do. And we're trying to figure out this NFC West,
you know, both Seattle and Tampa and we'll get to
this in a second are coming in with a ton
of injuries. And yet Greg, I'm I don't think you
can use any excuses because the San Francisco forty nine ers,
I don't know how they did it. They went and
beat the Rams yesterday with basically a preseason game number
two lineup in Sofi Stadium. So it feels like the

(03:29):
injuries are the story of the NFL season, not just
in the NFC West, but all across the league. Tyreek
Hill out, Joe Burrow out, Lamar Jackson's heard. I mean,
on and on and on, Greg, It's just a it
seems like a very very strange and kind of a
catastrophic year injury right wise around the NFL.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Yeah, and if you don't really have good depth, it
gets hard. And you know, as well as I do
we and we've both been doing this a while that
coaches will never use injuries as an excuse.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
You can't.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
You know, you play one game a week and you
have to win those that game, so it doesn't matter.
You've still got to go out and play. I mean,
look at the Niners last night with the receiving corps.
Before that game, people were talking as if they'd be
lucky to you know, kick a field goal in that game.
And obviously Kendrick Bourne, who you know you're familiar with,
he was actually the receiver with a Cooper Cup at

(04:17):
easton Washington, which I'm sure people are listening know that.
But he had a great game last night.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
That's amazing. I Mean, I'm sitting here at doing my
show on this Friday at Still call Me Casino in Hotel,
and I'm sure there's a lot of people up here
that probably took a little bit of a bath thinking
that let's go all in on the on the Rams
in that game of at the Sportsbook, because you're right,
like that's a team that just decimated by injuries and
they come up and they surprise the Rams at home.
All right, let's get to this matchup Seahawks yeah, go ahead,

(04:45):
go ahead.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Now, I'm just gonna say it just shows you how
games are won and lost, and this fine margin because
you know, Kirraen Williams fumbles going in that would have
been a forteen excuse me, a Rams win, and we'd
say things like, oh, nice game for mac Jones handled
himself well. But because they won all of a sudden,
it's wow, Mac Jones is great, you know. You know,

(05:06):
it's funny how the perception changes on things that don't
necessarily have to do with the player you're talking about,
but the whole perception of that player's performance changes based
on other players.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
That's it is remarkable. Let's let's talk about this. We'll
start with the the Seattle defense against the Tampa Bay offense.
We do know that Baker Baker Mayfield is gonna play,
but he's going to be missing some key elements. Bucky
Irving's not going to play. Also, Mike Evans it sounds
like is out again this week as well. But they
got a pretty good receiver that's from these parts in

(05:40):
a Mecca Buca who went to still come down here
just south of Seattle and obviously went to Ohio State
as well. Tristan Werfman banged up this year, but let's
let's talk about that Tampa Bay offense.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
Greg Yeah, I mean, Baker's evolved into a really solid
NFL quarterback. I think the loss of Irving is a
big deal. He's an explosive back. He you know, you
got you probably know him as well from the you know,
the the old Pac twelve as or not that old,
but the Pac twelve at Oregon. I think he surprised

(06:11):
a lot of people with the fact that he's he's
not a big man, but he was able to really
almost be a feature type back for them. So now
it'll be Rashad White, who's a really good player and
he's more physical, he's more of an inside runner, but
he's not really an explosive player. So it just changes
what they can do in their run game with with

(06:32):
Irving being out. Now they have Sean Tucker, who's a
Syracuse kid who actually probably is a little juicier than White,
and he'll be the next back up and he'll get
snaps and he's played in the league and he's had
some some big plays. So they'll miss Irving. But that's
one position. I don't think what you feel like, oh,
they're not really putting a guy out there that can play,

(06:53):
but it will be a big deal, you know, the
receiving corps. I mean, obviously Evans is a tough assignment.
You know, every week god Win his back, he played
last week, a book has turned out to be a
really good player right off the bat. So they're not
they're not hurting at wide receiver. That says that they
can't put good people out there. But Evans is obviously

(07:15):
a guy that if you're if you don't have him,
it's it's totally different.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
I'm gonna get back to the receivers in a second.
Also ask you about Kate Otten, who's also from these
parts too. But Greg, let let's talk about Baker Mayfield.
We'll get back to the receivers in a second. And
let me let me start with this. We've seen this
in the NFL. We have Greg on every spring. It's awesome,
and we talk about quarterbacks at least one or two
of those shows, right, Greig, Guys coming out of the
NFL out of college, and we've seen this a lot.

(07:38):
Some guys come in and have immediate success. Other guys
come in and they don't, and maybe they go somewhere
and they struggle, go somewhere, they struggle, then they find
their niche. We saw that with Gino Smith New York.
Gino Smith was not good. Seattle. Gino Smith at least
for a couple of years really good. Sam Donald not
great in New York obviously, Sam Donald Minnesota and Seattle
has been pretty good. Baker Mayfield in Cleveland is not

(08:00):
the same quarterback as we're seeing Baker Mayfield in Tampa.
What do you see with Baker Mayfield in Tampa right now?

Speaker 4 (08:07):
And also I think too just Ian talking about quarterback development,
you know, there's very few quarterbacks that are transcended. So
every quarterback is really a function of the team, the situation,
the coaching. So it's you know, we all want a
high draft pick quarterback, and he was the number one pick.

(08:29):
You know, you always want a high pick quarterback to
be great, and you know, sometimes it doesn't work that
way for many reasons. But you're dealing with a guy
that you know, he's a shorter quarterback, but he's got
a really good arm, he understands timing and rhythm. In
the past game, he's got enough mobility. Actually this year
he's shown more mobility. But at his core, he's a

(08:50):
pocket quarterback. He's willing to be aggressive, which every once
in a while causes him to make a head scratch
your throw that only he can explain that. When you're
watching tap just I say to myself, Okay, why did
he throw it? I wish I could talk to him
right now. But for the most part, you're dealing with
a pocket quarterback that sees the field and has a
much better arm than people probably think he has. So

(09:12):
he's really turned into kind of an efficient player. I mean,
I don't know what this game will bring. Yeah, obviously
it's a tough place to play against a good defense.
But you know, he's only thrown one interception this year
versus eight touchdowns. I know last year I think he
led the league with sixteen interceptions. But he's aggressive. He's
got an aggressive mindset and aggressive mentality. I personally, maybe

(09:34):
this is just my take on it. I like quarterbacks
that are aggressive throwing the football.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
He I think he's number three in scramble yards right
now in the NFL, So the legs are obviously a concern.
How that's a number that I can probably look at
it a bunch of different ways. But when I look
at that number, is that is it a guy that
will take off more often than not? Is he patient?
Is he running in scrambling because he has to have
a necessity? What do you see there?

Speaker 4 (10:01):
It's necessity. I mean, he's not a guy that's just
going to take off. That's not his game. But he's
very competitive despite his size. There's a physicality to the
way in which he plays. But he doesn't want to run.
You know, he'll run when he needed the area that
he hasn't been quite as good this year. And don't
forget you have a new coordinator. And by the way,

(10:23):
that's a big deal. You know, it's easy to say, well,
the system is the same, that's always easy to say.
But a new coordinator, you know, there's a lot of
things that go into having a new coordinator. In just
the way a guy talks in your earpiece when he's
giving you the play, it's a whole different cadence from
another guy. So you got to get used to that.
Is he getting the plays in fast enough? Is Baker

(10:45):
getting to the line of scrimmage with in his mind
enough time to research the defense and feel like he's
seeing things the way he wants to see it. There's
a lot that goes into having a different coordinator beyond
just oh, they're going to run a lot of the
same concepts. So it's and the one area I was
going to say where they have struggled this year is,
which is probably not just Baker, but the numbers are

(11:06):
reflected with Baker, is they haven't been as good on
third down, and that's that's been a bit of an
issue for them.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Greg Cozelle joining us Curtsy a Seattle sider where its
still call me casino and hotel, actually more specifically in
the Hawk's Peak sports bar and restaurants, sixty three televisions
which will all be in use this weekend with NFL
College and little thing called the Major League Baseball Playoffs.
Along the way, let's talk about the matchup Seattle. Maybe
without Devin Witherspoon, maybe without Julian Love is kind of
trending that way. Nick Eman warr is going to be back,

(11:33):
but they're going against it, as you mentioned, a pretty
good receiving corps led by the rookie AGBUCA even without
Mike Evans. Kate Otton's a guy we're familiar with from
up here as well. Tomwater High School and so, and
that's post problems for this defense sometimes as tight ends
and what they've done underneath. So let's talk about Seattle
needs good requall and by the way, this week not
bad requal and they need good requilling to go with

(11:55):
Job Jail Josh Job and the rest of the crew.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
Well, you know what's really interesting is last week against
the Eagles, even though Evans was out, they played fifty
two snaps, you know, eleven personnel. That was by far
the highest percentage, obviously because it was fifty two or
sixty eight snaps. So it's not as if they chose
to make a change and go with more two tight
end sets, because they've got a second tight end in
Paine Durham, who does normally play meaningful snaps. So we'll

(12:21):
see if that's any different this week. I am so
anxious to watch him and worry is he likely to
start if Love is out along with Brian, would he
be the starter at safety?

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (12:33):
You know, they use him in such a role as
a nickel so often that I don't know. I know,
that's the thing that we don't know right now because
the one brief time he played he was a Nickel
and love was healthy.

Speaker 4 (12:45):
Yeah, yeah, and yeah, And I did watch him in
the preseason and he played Nickel, So I mean they
may see him as that. Now again, if Witherspoon is out,
he may be the Nickel, although they do have Durien
Kendrick who has played you know, you know, Job has
kind of surpassed Woolen anyway, you know, as the guy
who if in base it would be Job and Witherspoon.

(13:07):
But with Witherspoon likely out, I'm sure it'll be Job
and Wollan. So the question is who's going to play
next to Brian, you know. So I'm really anxious to
see him in Ori though, because I really liked him.
But this defense is good. It's a really good front group.
They they're playing well. You know, this will be a
good test. Obviously the Bucks don't have all their players.

(13:28):
Irving is as we discussed as a meaningful loss, but
you know it'll it'll be a good test. And I
think the right tackle for the Bucks is still out.
Good Decky. I don't think he's I think he might
have been on ir I don't think he's back, and
he's a good player.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Uh, what do you like about it? Buka. What is
it about him that jumps out of you.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
Just an understanding of how to run routes, an understanding
of leverage of defensive players, you know, understanding how they're
positioned and how then he can gain his position to
create separation. Not a burner, but a little better speed
than you probably think he has, you know, not a
four to three five guy, but he's just you know,

(14:11):
I would describe him as a professional receiver. He understands
how to use his vertical stem, he understands how to
create separation at the top of his route stem. You know,
just the little things that make receivers in the NFL.
That's that's who he is. That's what he was at
Ohio State.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
You know.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
To me, when I watched him in Ohio State, I
just thought, this guy's going to step in the league
and be a factor from day one. And then when
I heard him speak, by the way, I don't know
if you've ever talked to him, you know, being up
in your area, when you talk to him, I mean,
the guy is just a super impressive kid. I mean,
it's everything about him just says he gets it.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
He was going to go to Stanford, by the way,
I ended up going to Ohio State and worked out
well at Ohio State, winning a national championship. But he
was a Stanford kid. He was going to go to Stanford.
That's that kind of speaks volumes of kind of where
who you are sometimes, right.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
So yeah, when I heard him speak at the podium
at the Combine, and I was blown away just by
you know, you felt like you were listening to a
ten year pro, a guy that could be like the
CEO of a company, you know. I mean, he just
comes across that way.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Greg coseell with is brought to by sales center. Let's
go outther side of football. What is Sam Darnold and
the Seahawk offense going to see in that Tampa Bay defense?

Speaker 4 (15:16):
Well, again, with so many injuries, particularly at the right
corner position, but I don't think that'll change. Todd Bowles.
The one thing that can be really problematic in any
given game, and you have to be aware of this.
No team in the NFL blitz his defensive backs as
part of their pressure package packages more than the Bucks.

(15:38):
So when they send pressure one fifth of all their
pressures more than twenty percent, a little more than twenty
percent features defensive backs. It's the highest percentage in the league.
Todd Bolts has always been known for that, that's his thing.
He did that year. I remember doing film pieces years
and years ago in the matchup. So going back to

(15:59):
the two thousands when he was a decoordinator and we
noticed defensive backs as part of his pressure packages. So
that's something you absolutely have to be aware of because
very off an offensive lineman with their hand in the
dirt and their vision not that expansive, they're not the
ones who see that. So now it's incumbent upon Sam
Darnold to see it. He might have to check some

(16:21):
protections because he gets a sense that a defensive back
could be coming. They're another team that'll put six or
seven on the ball, and then you have to account
for those people. They obviously they're not all going to come,
but you can't guess and say, well, I don't think
someone's gonna come. You have to account for people. So
it's really important in this game for Sam to recognize it,

(16:42):
for the old line to be on top of their game,
and whoever the back is, Walker or Charbonne, to be
well aware of what their responsibilities are. Backs have to
understand fronts in passing situations the same way that quarterbacks do.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Greg I know that Seattle has I think design runs
or called runs. I think Seattle is in the top
three in the NFL, but they're in the bottom three
in the NFL in terms of yards per carry. They're
gonna want to I mean, everyone wants to run the ball.
They want to run the ball. Can you run the
ball against his Tampa team? How hard is it to
do that?

Speaker 4 (17:15):
I mean, you know, they're they're a solid front group.
That's an area where they're not missing players. They're a
very solid front group.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
You know.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
Obviously Videve is a tough guy to block, so you know,
and I think this is a team that has to
be able to run the ball, you know, and I
think you know Walker. To me, Walker is the key
because Walker has outstanding lateral agility and quickness. He's got
great balance and body control. He can re accelerate. But

(17:43):
you know, as we've discussed before, sometimes I feel like
he's got to get the hard yards. You know, he's
he's always looking for something big, and I think sometimes
within the context of an offense, you just got to
get the three or four yards and you've got to
move on to the next play, and you got to
make it second and sie and not try to make,
you know, hit a home run every time, and and

(18:04):
and then you end up with second and nine or
second and twelve. So I think for me, that's the key.
One of the keys is staying ahead of the change.
Because one of the things that Sam Darnold has been
phenomenal at both last year in Minnesota and this year
through four games with Seattle is he throws the ball
down the field. I mean when you talk about air yards,

(18:26):
you know, which is a stat a lot of people
look at. He's been phenomenal throwing the ball down the field,
but normally a lot of that comes from deeper drops.
And to get those deeper drops and those kinds of
play designs, ian you need to be, you know, in
normal down in distant situations. It's hard to do that
when it's third and nine.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
I was just going to ask you that because you know,
when people think of those air yards, and we talk
about that a lot with Hugh Millan on Mondays during
a hardcore football saving with you, you know, those air
yards is an important number to look at. And I
think there would be this assumption maybe by some maybe
just maybe a correlation that seems to make sense, but
I think think it maybe doesn't. As you're describing that
that air yards deep, you know, long air yards, a

(19:05):
lot of air yards.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Come.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Well, hey, it's a third and nine and you threw it,
you know, fifteen yards. I got a first down. It's
not that easy if it's those deep you know, long
down in distances. Right, teams are sitting back a little bit.
You're gonna get those air yards when it's what second
and three, you know, yeah, stuff like that, right.

Speaker 4 (19:21):
Okay, unless you're throwing kind of fade routes which you
know are not are not deep drops for a quarterback.
But if you're going to start working sort of intermediate
and vertical route concepts two and three man route concepts,
you know, then that takes some time. They take some
time to develop. And you know, again, I happen to
look up this stat because I always noticed this when
I watched Donalds. So I looked up his stat through

(19:42):
four games on passes thrown in the air more than
ten yards from the line of scrimmage. Okay, which doesn't
seem like a lot, but believe it or not, in
today's NFL, there's a lot of quarterbacks that throw really
short passes. So if you go more than ten yards
from the line of scrimmage in the air, Donald's numbers
are ridiculous. Twenty seven for thirty six for five hundred

(20:03):
and sixty three yards, So twenty seven completions for five
hundred and sixty three yards. That's more than twenty yards
per completion. And he's got four tds when he does that.
So you know, he's a guy that if you protect
him and then you can run these intermediate and vertical
route concepts, combination routes. I'm talking I'm not post routes

(20:24):
or just a go route. I'm talking a where there's
a route combination with two or three guys. He's he's
been very good at that the last couple of years.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
It feels like that could get even better too, Greg
if possible, because we're starting to see the emergence of
Tory Horton. We're seeing a little bit more with We're
seeing a little bit more with a royo as well.
At that tight end position. It kind of feels like
there might even be more meat on that bone down
the road.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
Yeah, and arroyo of course is you know, this past
week he played the most snappy's most snaps he's played
all season. But the interesting thing about this offense, and
we've talked about this, is there a base personnel offense.
Now could that change, you know, if maybe they start
to like Tory Horton and feel like they want to
give him more snaps. You don't, you know, we've played
four weeks. To me, you can't say, oh, this is

(21:08):
the way it is for sure. But last I mean,
only thirty one percent of their offensive snaps through four
games and have come out of eleven personnel I meaning
won back one tight end and three wide. This is
a team that lines up with multiple tight ends. I mean,
just think of the last game they played. Okay, barn
are fifty seventh names, Arroyo thirty six snaps, Sober twenty

(21:29):
six naps. I mean, this is a team that's playing
tight ends as a foundation of what they do.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
Great, great stuff. I know you like i'd ask you
to break down the pitching matchups this weekend, but we'll
wait till next week for you to do that in
a great co Sell kind of way.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
In the meantime, we got baseball in Philadelphia, too. We
got the Dodgers in Philly, so we got a tiny
going tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
I think that's an ALCS. That's the NLCS Championship, even
though it's in the division series along the.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
Way, they call it redd ock too over here in Philly. Ian,
so it's right October.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
Good luck to the Philly Is, good luck to the Mariners.
And thank you great co Sell as always appreciate Ian.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
It's time now for Danny O'Neal of The Dang Apostrophe,

York City, brought to you by Northwest handling systems from
forklifts to Pella jacks, conveyors, deloading dot equipment. We sell
random service all of your warehouse. He needs request the
quote today at NWHS dot com or call four two

(22:55):
five two five five zero five hundreds.

Speaker 6 (22:57):
Now here's he in with Danny o'neio.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
All right, Danie O'Neil joined us. You were at this,
We'll call me casino and hotel sportsbook also in the
Hawk's Peak brand new sports bar and restaurant where Danny
it'll be popping this weekend sixty three TVs in this
brand new, beautiful setup here because I don't know where
you maybe this is a this is an ad D
guy like, this is Softy's dream right look around, Hey
there's a squirrel like that's what we have this weekend.

(23:21):
How are you?

Speaker 7 (23:22):
Yeah, anywhere you turn, I'm doing very well and it
is a very exciting weekend from Northwest Sports.

Speaker 8 (23:28):
I don't know if I can remember one quite like this.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
Well, somebody asked me that this morning I was actually
Guys in Portland. I did the morning show with the
Guys in Portland today hit with them, and I said, well,
it was three years ago and three years ago, we
had a Saturday in which the Huskies were playing a
home game. I believe Softie said it was Arizona. I
know I was at my son's college game and down

(23:53):
at Peel You and then the Mariners played at one
Husky's played the same time, and then the next day
the Seahawks were scheduled to play one o'clock game, because
I remember I was covering that. I was still covering
that for Fox, and that game would have been moved
to thirty if the Mariners would have won against Houston
at T Mobile that day. They didn't eighteen innings later,

(24:13):
so we were on the verge of that. Now we
know there's a guaranteed game coming up on Sunday, So
it's a little bit different this time around.

Speaker 7 (24:23):
Yeah, and there really is. Even with that Seahawks team.
I think that a little it's not quite the same
feeling as this Seahawks teams. I think there's a higher
ceiling for this year's Seahawks team. And maybe maybe I'm
forgetting what it felt like because I think that I
was in twenty twenty two. I think the general sense was,

(24:47):
I know, nationally people thought the Seahawks were going to
be bad. That's year one post Russell, and instead they
looked pretty good.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
But I think we all knew, like, I don't.

Speaker 7 (24:57):
Know if they've got a chance to really be a
championship threat.

Speaker 6 (25:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
They that was when they went down. They lost to
San Francisco right in the first round. Uh. In fact,
I remember that was the pouring down rain all day
until kickoff day and uh and then they yeah, they lost.
They actually led the forty nine ers at halftime.

Speaker 7 (25:15):
I think that that is that is the source of
my last, my last.

Speaker 8 (25:20):
Favorite Bruce Servant quote.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
There are many on the list of favor most you
can't say the games.

Speaker 7 (25:28):
That game he observed that they did.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
They did pucker a little bit.

Speaker 7 (25:34):
He said, we made their hind parts tight in that
first half.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
Didn't we.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Oh Bruce Irving, God, I miss him.

Speaker 9 (25:42):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Danny O'Neil joining us right now. Well, let's just get
a quick thought on the mirrors. We've got a I
mean this, this is unchartered territory. We've only done this
six times in forty nine years.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
And having a home buy and all that fun stuff.
It's a different beast. What are your expectations for the
post or are you kind of like me in the
sense that you know, it's kind of a crapshoot short series.
Anything can happen.

Speaker 7 (26:06):
Yeah, I very much feel that that sort of way of, Hey,
everything's wide open. I don't have a lot of firms.
They better do blah blah blah, or I hope. I
just I'm excited because I think the Mariners have as
good a shot as anyone in what this tournament is.
And it would be a little better if Brian wu

(26:27):
we knew more about Brian Will's health, but the fact
that he might be joining the rotation, it sure doesn't
sound like he's going to pitch this series.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
But I just feel like that this.

Speaker 7 (26:37):
Past month has been one of the most fun times
I've ever had as a Mariners fan, and I'm just
excited to see what might happen. It definitely feels so
different than two thousand and one, which was really sort
of You've been waiting for that playoffs to get going
for so long, and then there was nine to eleven
and it changed the way that that playoffs series, that

(27:00):
playoff run fell. Yeah, this is just much like, all right, man,
let's get it on.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
I'm ready. I think it's a good way to put it.
Identity Neil brought to you by Northwest Handling Systems from
forkliffs to palat racks, con bearers, the loading dock equipment.
They sell, rent service all your warehouse and knees. Request
a quote today at NWHS dot com. Give them a
call for two five zero, five hundred. I think a great,
great way to put it. That's why this is different.
That's why this is different. It's different than three years
ago because three years ago, Seattle, you know, had the

(27:26):
one home playoff game after play starting the series on
the road, winning in Toronto and then moving on to
the second round, lose a couple in Houston heartbreakers, and
then come back and lose an eighteen inning game. And
I guess you look at it from the standpoint, Mariners
haven't scored a run in a postseason game at home
since two thousand and one. And then two thousand and
one was, you know, through no fault of the Mariners,

(27:47):
baseball or anything else, just we had the you know,
catastrophic event in our world, in our country, and it
did everything felt different that year. I mean I was
in Salt Lake and you guys were here, but I
just everything felt different this this there's a lot more
anticipation and so forth. Danny, give me a let's quickly
get to the Seahawks for a second. You wrote about it.
I think you're right on the money with this. Seahawks

(28:09):
look great for the most part. They do have to
close games out. They do have to close games out,
you know, and that's been an issue. That's been an issue.

Speaker 8 (28:17):
It has and they've had different points.

Speaker 7 (28:20):
I mean, we all love that legion to boom defense
twenty twelve. The first three months of that season they
had trouble closing out games too. They blew leads in Miami,
they blew a lead in Detroit. And so far this
season that defense has looked great except when they've had
one possession of leads in the fourth quarter and they've

(28:40):
given up a couple of touchdowns in the two games
where they've had that. And look, it's hard to draw
trends or say that, hey, this is a trait that
this team has because a those scenarios where a team
is it needs to score a touchdown or bust, it
changes how aggressive the offense is. I do think Seattle

(29:01):
should be better in that situation. And the reason I
say that is because they've been getting really good pressure
without blitzing, which which that those sorts of teams usually
are good in closing out games. Kind of, they have
an opportunity to slam the door shut.

Speaker 8 (29:16):
But it's it's something.

Speaker 7 (29:17):
To keep an eye on, because that, to me, has
been the that's the most nagging and troublesome sign that
I've seen from this first four weeks. And otherwise I
think things look really good. I think I think Seattle
has an average pass blocking offensive line, hallelujah. I don't
think anybody's ever been so happy to be able to
just be average. And Sam Donolds looked awesome. He looked

(29:41):
really really good.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
Yeah, yeah, I agree. By the way, we'll get to
the Mariner starters for the first two games in a second.
They just announced, as we'll get to that, and heartbeat
quick thought. The one Washington get beat by Ohio State
at home. I guess you could say no shame in that.
I've heard this a few times from people, and I've
think I would tend to agree. This is a scary
game tomorrow in Maryland because it's.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
A trap line.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
I mean, I mean, massive trap game. Is it not?
You lose? I mean, everything goes into Ohio State Husky
Stadium's rocking and all that, and then you lose, and
now you gotta go on on the road across the
country to take on your old rival in the Big Ten,
the Maryland Therapists.

Speaker 10 (30:22):
My god, I've decided this is the most important game
in Washington's schedule in the sense that whether this season
is gonna wind up feeling like a step forward or not,
I think depends on whether or.

Speaker 7 (30:33):
Not Washington can beat Maryland. And I know a lot
of Husky fans expected that when the season start, Like
Maryland had four wins last year and Washington was favored
by eight and a half when I looked. I'll tell
you what, Miss Maryland has one of the best freshmen
in the country in their quarterback MO League.

Speaker 8 (30:51):
Washington.

Speaker 7 (30:52):
They have a defense. They haven't really played anybody, but
they haven't given up twenty points in any of those games.
Yet they're playing at home. Maryland absolute totally expects to
win this game. Yeah, I'm I'm I'm still I still
feel slightly bad for how much of a silver lining
I've been pointing to from the Ohio State game. I am,
I am, I am increasingly sort of gone from being

(31:15):
petrified to talking myself into Washington is just going to
be able to physically dominate this game. But this is
this is a.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
Terrifying by the way, it's Uh, George Kirby Tomorrow, Louis
cast God, Is that right, George Kirby Tomorrow. I just
looked at that. Is that right? Jess correct?

Speaker 11 (31:32):
From the Mariner game three?

Speaker 7 (31:35):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (31:35):
That is crazy. George Kirby is your game one starter?
Luis Castile the Rockets Gaming Castile was assumed to be
the game two starter.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
Guy pitches great at home and isn't his rote Home
Roads splits aren't great, but Home is a hammer. He
goes against Scooble that's not going to bother him at all.
I am stunned. It's not Logan Gilbert Danny.

Speaker 8 (31:58):
I am too.

Speaker 7 (32:00):
I'm too.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
That's an interesting call.

Speaker 7 (32:02):
I wonder if that comes to something they feel about
the parks. But that is that is very interesting. I
definitely expected Logan Gilbert to be the game one starter.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
I okay, good for that. I mean, listen, we're we're
we're we're picking between our favorite children right now, right like,
is there really a difference?

Speaker 8 (32:18):
True?

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Is it really. I mean, I I there is, but
Gilbert's I don't think there's any problem with that, to
be honest with you, So I don't think there's any Well, yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:28):
You're not.

Speaker 7 (32:28):
You're not going to I mean, I guess you would
look at it that you get a chance to pitch
Kirby twice in the series, whereas if you're starting Gilbert
in game three, he's probably not going to.

Speaker 3 (32:38):
Pitch twice in the series. Yeah, but also maybe you
like the matchups the Tiger.

Speaker 7 (32:43):
Yeah, the Tigers burned. They used their top three starters,
and there was a big question about who their game
one guy was going to be, and looking between who
they were choosing, it was basically guys that had made
spot starts or that they used in piggyback situation before.
So maybe they look at they like how it matches up.
You have to steal at home against Scooble, and then

(33:04):
you you've got logan Gilbert to put out there when
you go back to Detroit.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
Good times. Tell people that dang apostrophe.

Speaker 7 (33:11):
It is a newsletter that originates from New York City
and it arrives in your mailbox painlessly, sometimes amusing. When
you just go to Danny O'Neil dot com. You enter
your email and then I send you emails. It's a
painless transaction, that promise.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
It really is. And by the way, it's not your
real mailbox, it's your inbox that Danny's referring to. So
don't worry. Even if there's a government shutdown, he'll still
get your dang apostrophe. You'll be fine in that regard.

Speaker 7 (33:33):
So following the little gremlins that sort the email, don't
you shove it in your spam folder?

Speaker 3 (33:39):
Hate it when that happens.

Speaker 2 (33:40):
Hey it That has all right. We'll check in with
you next week and maybe by then we'll be talking
about the Alcs and your New York Yankees back there
and taking on the mirrors. We'll find out about that.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
Thanks Danny, you bet take care.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Everybody. That's Daniel and Neil by to my Northwest Haling Systems.
You know Sarrus, What does he think about Detroit? We
heard from that him yesterday. We'll get that little clip
coming up.

Speaker 6 (33:59):
Next from the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio.
Now back to Ian Furnesz powered by Seapple's Closest sports
book Snow call me Casino.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
And Hotel on Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ
R FM.

Speaker 12 (34:21):
Well, for one, just maybe the ace in megla baseball
right now. Paris Google is probably the best pitcher in
baseball right now, and he was sitting ninety nine with
a ninety two mile an hour slider in his last
game against the Guardians.

Speaker 13 (34:37):
So just a just an awful, awful left handed starting.

Speaker 8 (34:42):
Pitcher matchup for anybody.

Speaker 13 (34:45):
That part is going to be the top part.

Speaker 8 (34:48):
The offense is something that you can pitch too normally.

Speaker 13 (34:50):
If you just look at the names, it's Riley Green,
Spencer Torkolsen, guys that strike out, and it's not a
great lineup top to box. The thing that they do,
and the Guardians have kind of done this in the past,
is they just do their best to have a fortune
advantage and every at that they do their best to
run by the numbers. They call it pitching chaos, but

(35:13):
they also do hitting chaos where they have a lot
of hitters that are interchangeable and complain many different positions
and al righty lefty. So the annoying thing about facing
the Tigers is you are facing all twenty six men.
It's not something where you can focus on a couple
of guys and figure out how to beat them. It's

(35:33):
more about beating them with execution in every moment, because
they're going to try and put the numbers in their
direction every time.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
That's our guy, YOUO. Saris brought you by Georgetown Brewing.
He joins us every Thursday, and we had him on yesterday.
The game was in the midst of being decided Cleveland
and Detroit, so I asked them about you know what
about Detroit? Give us the scouting report of Detroit, and
obviously Scoople top of the list. He'll go week Sunday,
but the Marner's going LTE with George Kirby tomorrow. Luis

(36:04):
Castile on Sunday in games one and two. Welcome back
to call me Casino. We're Hawk's Peak today, getting ready
for a busy, great fun, exciting weekend. Anything and everything
you could want. Baseball playoffs with the Mariners. We've got
college football Huskies Maryland right here on nine three point
three KGFM Tomorrow twelve thirty Seahawks Sunday against Baker Mayfield
and Tampa Bay. That's at one o'clock at Loomenfield. Man,

(36:26):
what else could you want? The one thing. I brought
this up the other day, you know. Also and Joe
and Joe she and both said the same thing. This
week our national baseball guys, you wanted to see Cleveland,
you don't now you see Detroit. But at the end
of the day, Seattle still heavily favored in this series.
So we'll see what takes place. All right, let's get

(36:47):
back to some football, shall we. I feel like I
got a two hour show. Feels like this, like a
like a quarter horse thing. Today.

Speaker 11 (36:53):
I was just sprinting, right, Yeah, I was just gonna say,
go you and go.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Well, here's the thing, Jess, I won't pull out the crop.
You know, we go through some slow times in the
world of sports sometimes, like right, like like we get
to the times of the year, like all right, post
NFL Draft, to get to June and July, what are
we gonna do? Yeah, no problem right now. It's an
embarrassment of riches. And I hear this all the time.
Are we a baseball town a football town? Who cares?

(37:19):
We're both? We can be both?

Speaker 11 (37:20):
How about we just a sports town?

Speaker 2 (37:22):
Yeah, we don't have to pick one or the other.
We're both. This weekend and that's a great thing and
we can't wait. All right. Speaking of football, Rob Rang
Big weekend in college football coming up. We'll preview the
college football games and if you haven't listened to Rob before,
here's how we do it. He's our NFL Draft insider.
We talk about the players to watch and guys that
would fit what the Seahawks need in the draft next year.

(37:42):
We'll do that with Rob Rang. Also talk Maryland and
Washington with him as well. That's coming up next.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
No from the Star Rentals Sports to us Jordan ninety
three point three KJRFM Sports Headlines.

Detroit Tigers. We know who's going to start, Seattle will

(38:18):
go George Kirby Game one, Luis Castillo Game two. On
Saturday and Sunday games one and two. This weekend, we
got some injury news for the Seahawks. Tampa Bay is
missing a bunch of guys, including Bucky Irving. They're outstanding
running back and a lot as well as we're starting
the right cornerback. Seattle's going to be missing the following,
Josh Jones out backup tackle, DeMarcus Lawrence out defensive end.

(38:40):
But here are the two ones that matter. Julian Love
out hamstring, Devin Witherspoon out kneed, all out for Sunday's
game against Tampa Bay as well. Husky twelve thirty tomorrow

early and late happy hours, all at your Ferrelli's locations. Hello, Rob,

(39:45):
how are you.

Speaker 8 (39:46):
I'm doing very well, sir, how are you?

Speaker 2 (39:48):
I'm good. We are going to actually get to a
little Seahawks conversation with a matchup this weekend against the Buccaneers,
who have some local familiar flavor to them. We'll do
that in a second. You guys listened to this long enough.
You know what Rob and I do. We talk about
the college football weekend coming up, and it actually starts
tonight Friday night, West Virginia at number twenty three. B

(40:11):
y you the Cougars oft Bringham Young University. They're playing
the first Friday in October. Must be conference weekend down
there for our friends in the LDS. Church boy BYU
coming up a nice win against Colorado. They do it
with a true freshman quarterback. We're not going to talk
about bear Bachmeyer. We'll talk instead about their running back.
Tell us about BYU running back l J. Martin.

Speaker 8 (40:33):
Well, he's a good football player, and you know BYU
has a tradition of producing NFL caliber backs. It's not
that long ago. Of course, Tyler Algier Jamal Williams have
gone in the mid rounds of the NFL draft, and
I think that LJ. Martin is going to wind up
doing at least that, perhaps even earlier than that, maybe
Day two. He is among the ten best running back

(40:57):
prospects in the country in my opinion. I remember as
much for Fox Sports last week. He is a bit
of a bigger back. He's six foot two, two hundred
and twenty pounds, and he is a guy that runs
a little bit more upright, but he he actually will
lower his shoulder into defenders. He runs with good power
to break tackles. He's not you gon to have elite

(41:18):
straight line speed, but at the same time, he plays
fast because he is decisive and again runs so hard.
So he is a back that I think is well
worth people paying attention to. On our Friday night.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
Yeah, I watched BYU colled Raudo last week. That was
the only kind of late game last week. That's a boy,
that's an impressive team, man, Solon Katacky. They got a
good football team down there at BYU. And it's crazy
because they lost their starting quarterback and he violated the
honor code and so he had to move on and
he's gone. But yeah, they got a freshman quarterback that's

(41:51):
doing a nice job down there. B YU four and
oh one to oh in the Big twelve and ranked
number twenty three in the country of West Virginia. Guy,
they have fallen up. Remember when Rob, you and I
are old enough to remember just a few days ago
when West Virginia used to be good at football. Remember
those days, I do.

Speaker 8 (42:04):
Unfortunately that was that was a team that I had.
I still really like. I have a great deal of
respect for Rich Rodriguez. There is the back there with Mountaineers.
It's gonna take some time to rebuild that program, but
I think say he will be able to do so.

Speaker 2 (42:19):
All right, let's get to Saturday, Rob rang joining us
Foxsports dot Com our Draft Insider Saturday. We'll start with
the I guess this must be the big noon game
because it's noon on nine o'clock on Fox Wisconsinant number
twenty Michigan. We're gonna stay on the running back train
for a second. Tell us about rush Justice Haynes from Michigan.

Speaker 8 (42:41):
Well, that's the thing in is that I very much
stay on that running back train right now, just because,
of course, one of the things that we do is
we're always looking in from a you know, a little
bit of a Seahawks draft perspective, and with Ked Walker
the third of course enter and finally year in the
final year of his Wooki contract and struggling with your
ability throughout much of that time, I think to see
are very much going to be paying attention to this

(43:02):
running back class, and they definitely are going to be
paying attention to Justice Haynes. Dynamics back for Michigan. Look,
there's no doubt about it. Michigan. You know, of course
runs the ball very very well, they block very well.
But this is a former Alabama stand out to transfer
to Michigan this past year. He leaves the Big Ten
with five hundred and thirty seven rushing yards. Right now,

(43:23):
he's averaging eight yards per carry. And this is a
back that just has a terrific combination of size, speed,
and make you missability legitimate breakaway speeds. Got a couple
of different fifty plus yard touchdown runs already on this season,
and so again, if you're looking for a possible replacement

(43:44):
for camp Walker the third who, of course you know
when the Seahawks drafted him at least he played at
Michigan State, previously was at waken Forest. Then why not
go to their arch rivals right across the states in
Michigan with Justice Ham.

Speaker 2 (43:56):
Let's talk about their edge rusher too. I think he's
a pretty good one, right Derek Moore?

Speaker 8 (44:00):
H Yeah, Derek Moore is an interesting guy. He's six
foot three, two hundred and fifty pounds. He actually kind
of reminds me a little bit of a t u oosu. Again,
if we're going to use some Seahawk references here, he
is at his best definitely attacking down, attacking upfield as
a pass, rushing around and dropping back into into coverage.
But he's got good initial quickness, he has a real

(44:23):
powerful hand swipe and uses his feet very nicely to
complement his hands, and then he does have some burth
to get to quarterback and close with some physicality, not
only as a hitter, but also in taking on blockers.
His ability to play all around for all the physical football.
It gives me something that John Scheier mc McDonald are

(44:45):
definitely going to appreciate.

Speaker 2 (44:46):
Rank Joni's courtesy of Farelli's we're here at snow Qualmi
Casino are presenting sponsor for the Major League Baseball Playoffs
with an earner start tomorrow. Let's get to this is
a wild one. I'm thinking there's some guys to talk about.
You tell me if I'm just way off base here,
But Clemson plays at North Carolina also at nine o'clock
in the morning tomorrow on Saturday. Start of the year.

(45:06):
This would have been one we'd circle. Clemson was supposed
to be a playoff contender. They're one in three, zero
to two in the ACC North Carolina. They've got a
somewhat famous coach, Cad Klubnick the quarterback for Clemson, we
you know, was thought to be one of the top prospects.
He's got six touchdowns and foreign receptions. I'm still thinking
Clemson must have dudes on their team, though.

Speaker 8 (45:28):
They definitely do. I mean, as you said, Hayden club
Nick the quarterback has gotten a bunch of a bunch
of buds entering the season. He just hasn't performed up
the expectations. The defense still has definitely has a great
deal of talent among them. You know, Peter Woods from
my in my opinion, is still among the best defensive

(45:50):
prospects in this entire draft class. Year. I still think
they had a slam dunk first round selection six for three,
three and fifteen pounder in the middle who is just
as powerful at the point of attack as you're going
to get. They got an edge rusher TJ. Parker, who
also you know, looks the part sixty three to hundred
sixty five pounds. But both of those guys, you are
just not putting up the numbers so far this season

(46:12):
that they did a year ago. In a case of Woods,
he had eight and a half tackles for loss in
eleven games a year ago. This year he only has
half a tackle for lost. Now, he's still been very effective,
but he's just not creating the big plays behind the
line of scrimmage that we saw a season. They go
same thing with TJ. Parker, nineteen and a half tackles
for lost, eleven sacks, six forced fumbles, a year ago.

(46:36):
He's got two and a half tackles for lost, two
sacks so far, zero forced fumbles this season. So again,
all that preseason hype and hype based off what they
did last year, it's, you know, you know how it goes.
It's what have you done for me lately? When it
comes to the NFL Draft, then the one player for
Clemson I definitely want to highlight that it has been
playing better this year is Avion Terrell. He is, of

(46:59):
course the younger other of A. J. Torell, a former
first round to election and an All Pro corner for
the Atlanta Falcons. Avion Terrell is how they fit the game.
You mentioned the fact that there at Clemson is zero
and two in the ACC. Well, don't blame av On Teraro.
He only had five passes broken up last week against
SyRI So, you know, again had a terrific football game.

(47:21):
And he is one guy from Clemson stock actually is
on the rise. There has not been much at North
Carolina so far, despite the fact that of course Bill
Belichick you know, is on the sideline. Now it's actually
his son, Steve Belichick, former you know, Washington defensive coordinator,
of course, but he brought over a couple of different
players from the University of Washington. In my opinion, the

(47:42):
best prospect I've seen for North Carolina so far is
actually former Dog cornerback Thaudius Dixon, who so far has
done a really nice job of turning pass breakups into
interception opportunities. He's only got seven passbeck over his career,
but excuse me, nineteen pass packs of breakups over his
career and only two of those have been interceptions. That's

(48:03):
where he's got to improve his game. But you see
the instinct, you see the coverage ability. That's stuff that
translates to the NFL level.

Speaker 2 (48:11):
I've been wanted to talk about this game. It is
Rob rang joining us on the b Comploying hotline. We're
at the Stoqualmi Casino and Hotel SnO Casino dot com.
They're a proud sponsored presenting sponsor of our MLB playoff
coverage here on ninety three point three kjr FM. Let's
get to this one. If people watch the Netflix SEC series,

(48:31):
it was awesome and probably the biggest star out of
that just in terms of personality. Last year, Diego Pavia,
the quarterback for Vanderbilt All He's done this year is
throw thirteen touchdowns and three interceptions. They really kind of
made that series because they you know, they chronicled the
week before the Alabama game in Nashville, and Vanderbilt upset

(48:53):
Alabama in that game last season. They shocked him last year.
Diego pave is a fun guy to talk about. I
don't know, you tell me, Rob, is he any kind
of NFL prospect. He's put up the numbers, but he's
sure as hell isn't the tallest guy in the world.
Number sixteen, Vanderbilt at number ten, Alabama twelve thirty on ABC,
And by the way, that may be a little bit

(49:14):
more challenging going to Tuscaloosa than playing at home for
old Diego.

Speaker 14 (49:19):
It's funny, and I'm happy that my general manager at
the DC Lions is probably unlikely to be listening to
our program today because I was trying to convince him
that Diego Pada was going to be a star in
the CFL and that he didn't have the size the
NFL teams.

Speaker 8 (49:36):
Are going to be looking for. But my goodness, he's
a gutty player. He actually kind of reminds me a
little bit of you know, former Seahawk stand out John Kidnap,
maybe even a little bit of Baker Mayfield. And as
you said, he's shorter, but he is just gutty. He
mixed plays with his legs as well as his arm
as you reference, thirteen touchdowns that leads the SEC, you know,

(49:57):
and he is a former New Mexico. They stand out
and that's where I started watching him from my DC Lions.
And now I'm not so convinced that he's actually going
to be agenable to the Canadian Football League just because
of the way that he has just absolutely started Vanderbilt
and he started in New Mexico State as well. So again,
NFL teams are always going to be willing to overlook

(50:20):
the lack of size if you make enough big plays
against quality competition, and probably certainly has done that. So
we're really excited to see if he and the Commodorees
are able to kind of build off of their five
and oh start to the season.

Speaker 2 (50:34):
Here.

Speaker 8 (50:34):
It's not just Bobby It by the way, Eli Stowers,
their tight end, is a guy that I wrote about
here for the latest article of Fox sports dot Com.
As far as the top ten pass catchers in all
of college football, He's only one of two tight ends
that I do as a possible top one hundred caliber prospect.
But this is a former quarterback himself. He's a dynamic

(50:55):
athlete's six or four, two hundred and forty five pounds.
He can make people miss in the open field. He's
got good breakaway speed that got really soft hands. I'm
really excited about this game. I did think that Alabama
just got all the dudes, of course on their side,
but I think that Vanderbilt is not just a Cinderella story.
They're a legitimate team and they've got some skill position
talent to be able to get Alabama a run for

(51:17):
their money and touch Galusa.

Speaker 2 (51:18):
Yeah, Bobby's getting some Heisman consideration too. And you know
there's some that say, well, they got to get to
the playoffs or be a playoff contender or beat Alabama.
I'll just point out last year that Travis Hunters team
did not get to the playoffs for Colorado. Now, they
were kind of in it towards the end, but you
gotta be something special, maybe off the cuff a little bit.
Hunter was at the two way player Pobby is at
because he's taking Vanderbilt to place as they've never been

(51:40):
in the history of that program. A lot of games
going on at twelve thirty. Let's start with number nine
Texas at Florida.

Speaker 8 (51:46):
Well, I think that on the heels of the game
we just talked about, when we're talking about two very
underrated prospects and Pobby and Stours, to me, this is
like the All Hype Bowl, I mean EXAs and Florida
of course, or you know, they gets so much attention
and arch man of course has not been as successful
as before. Expecting Florida of course, is you know, same

(52:08):
kind of a story there. I will say that for
all of the hype that arch Manning gets, you do
see the traits and he just needs a little bit
of time. But speaking of trades, I think that more
attention needs to be focused on their quarterback on defense
rather their quarterback on offense. And that certainly is Anthony
Hill Junior. He wears number zero for Texas. He is

(52:30):
an off ball linebacker at times, He's an edge rusher
at times, which is why I want to make sure
I mentioned his number. Just focused in on that player,
because no matter where he is, he is absolutely, you know,
a game wrecker. In my opinion, he is the best
off ball linebacker in all of college football. He has
a sense to be an early first rounds collection if

(52:51):
he does come out early in this year's draft, as
I expect him to do so. But that's it. Just
About everybody else on these two rosters I think at
this point basically struggled to live up to all of
their hype. You know, the Florida has the pass rusher
tired staff. He's an interesting guy. He's gonna He's one
of those pass rushers that wears the half arm sleeve,
the half leg sleeve. He's easy to see on the field.

(53:14):
But again, he kind of talked about the Clemson guys
after thirteen tackles for loss the seven sacks a year ago.
He's only got two tackles for loss and a single
sack so far this season. For my money, the guy
who's actually most interesting from a Seahawks standpoint might be
the Florida at defensive back Devin Moore. He's six foot two,
one hundred and ninety nine pounds. They use him a

(53:35):
corner as well as safety. He's got kind of some
Kobe Bryant kind of a vibe to him, and I
like his versatility. I like his physicality, and he's got
some ball skills to him as well. Three of his
seventh career in seven career pass breakups going for interception.
So he's number twenty eight somebody to keep an eye
on from a seak perspective.

Speaker 2 (53:56):
Half arm sleeve, half legs sleeve. That sounds like Ellie fitness.
Try hard, guy. Okay, let me get to Rob rag
joining us real quick. I don't want to do too
much on this because I know Maryland doesn't have a
lot in terms of what we want to talk about
NFL wise, Washington, Maryland twelve thirty, the Big ten network.
I know up on the Fox Sports dot Com right now,
you've got an article on wide receivers and tight ends.
Denzel Boston on that list. I assume he is.

Speaker 8 (54:17):
He's actually my number five or a pass catcher in
all of college football at least what comes to the
NFL drafts. Of course, Cheramiah Smith, the Ohio state wide
receiver that the Huskies of course lost to this past weekend,
he would be at the top of that list, but
of course he's a true sophomore. But there's no doubt
about it that the Huskies have a very good one
in Denzel Boston.

Speaker 2 (54:37):
All Right, this is the game I really want to
talk about because it's I love myself A late game,
four thirty ABC, Miami, number three in the country, number eighteen,
Florida State acc in state battle Man. We've talked about
a lot of these guys already. Are there are there
big time players that we need to talk about? I mean,
Carson Beck or whoever? Who are the guys we need

(54:59):
to talk about for these two teams?

Speaker 8 (55:01):
Well, I think first off, of Miami they are just
the physically more gifted team. You know, there's the reason
a lot of number three in the country. Martin Chrystal
ball does a terrific job with that team. Carson Beck
quarterback spot he is, you know. Of course, people remember
him at Georgia where he was hyped up to be
a first round caliber player and then struggle the times.
But he is definitely playing very very well so far

(55:23):
this season. Of course, we know what Cam woard to
Miami a year ago, what he was able to do.
There is a lot of buzz right now about Carson
Beck possibly being a first round caliber player at the
quarterback position for Miami. Yet again, I really like this
matchup because the edge rushers for Miami, Reuben Bain Junior
in a team messador going up against the Florida State

(55:44):
offensive line. Ian that is as good as money can buy.
Because the Florida State Seminoles completely changed over their entire
offensive line. They're they're quarterback, they're running back there, they're
tight end, and their entire offensive line are all transfers.
Tommykaw to quarterback for the m He came from Boston College.
Gavin Sawchuk is their running back. He was in Oklahoma

(56:07):
their offensive line. My favorites are the right tackle or
a six foot seven, three hundred and forty nine pounder
named Micah Pettis from Old miss the left guard Adrian Medley,
a six foot five, three hundred and nine pounder from
Central Florida. Again, I think that the battle in the
trenches is going to be really interesting in this football game.
But again I think that the greater talent is on

(56:30):
Miami side. That's where I think that they're going to win. Again,
we talked about running backs before. I'd be remiss if
I didn't mention Mark Fletcher. He's my number two running
back in the entire country right now, behind the Notre
Dames Jeremia Love. We talked about six foot one, two
hundred and twenty five pounder. For all of those Seahawks
fans out there who were so excited when Seatle drafted
dam and Martinez and we're spend when he didn't actually

(56:51):
make their final fifty three.

Speaker 2 (56:53):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (56:54):
Part of the reason why Martinez moved on was because
of Fletcher, a guy who just has make you miss
a bit. He has the power between the tackles. I
think that he's the difference in this football game.

Speaker 2 (57:05):
So again, Fox sports dot Com Wide receivers right wide receivers,
side ends up there right now.

Speaker 8 (57:10):
It is up there, right now. It will be the
top ten wide receivers and tight ends in the entire country.
And you know, again the University of Washington is well represented.
We had number five with Dendeb Boston and there again,
there is a lot of really talented pass catchers. We've
talked about some of these guys before. My top grade
wide receiver in the entire Tenri is the guy actually
have the Seahawks selecting. In the latest Mark Drafted talksports

(57:32):
dot Com, USC's makaile lemon Oh.

Speaker 2 (57:35):
I like him. Yeah, I liked him last week in
a losing effort. I like him a lot, liked him
the week before against Michigan State. So we'll talk about
him maybe next week along the way as well. Rob

(58:16):
getting ready for the baseball playoffs coming up tomorrow on
Nightey three point three kJ FM.

Speaker 6 (58:23):
From the R and R Foundation specialist broadcast studio.

Speaker 1 (58:27):
Now back to He and Fernez, powered by Seattle's closest
sports book, snow Qualm Casino and Hotel on Sports Radio
ninety three point three KJR FM.

Speaker 2 (58:39):
All right, welcome back. We're at the so Kwame Casino
Hotel sportsbook here getting ready for the weekend that is
going to be something else. We're gonna get to text
in a second. I can give you this though, because
my friend Jessa Men, my great producer for this, on
to me a moment ago. Hi, Hi, how are you?

(59:00):
I'm good?

Speaker 9 (59:01):
And I'd like how you liberally said we are at
the Snowpwoma Casino because I don't get to be there.

Speaker 8 (59:07):
We are.

Speaker 2 (59:08):
I'm not here by myself. They are, believe or not.
There are other patrons here and I like that.

Speaker 11 (59:13):
Yeah, so inclusive with your audience.

Speaker 9 (59:15):
And Chuck Powell's here, oh yeah, big already here roundtable
tonight four to six.

Speaker 2 (59:22):
He has arrived, already has mister Powell. He is here
hanging out. That's a pro. Bucky is on his way
well Buck, Bucky might be Gamla, who knows, But yeah,
they're here. We'll be here four to six doing our
roundtable with the rest of the crew. So yeah, Chuck's
already here. Jess passed this along to me. We now
know game times. Yay. Here they are for you. We

(59:43):
know this weekend at the Mariners and Tigers play at
five thirty eight tomorrow Game one. That game, by the way,
television is on FS one. Why did that just go away?
F S one tomorrow at five thirty eight pm. Game
one the Tigers and the Mariners five thirty eight tomorrow,
FS one, and will be there or Fox Deportees and

(01:00:06):
won a postgame show. Jimmy's on first with Chuck and Bucky.
Afterwards it's Game two Sunday five oh three, also on
f S one and Fox Deportees. Then coming up on Tuesday.
Now we know the Tuesday Wednesday schedule Mariners and Tigers.
They get the you don't matter time slot four oh
eight pm. So I guess take the day off of

(01:00:29):
work Mariner fans because they're playing at one o'clock on Tuesday.
They're playing at noon on Wednesday. So Baseball hates the
West Coast yet again, hates you with a passion. If
you're a West Coast fan, Baseball hates you. They want
you to get fired, call in sick, do whatever you

(01:00:49):
gotta do, so you play those two gimes. If there
is a game five, if that is necessary, it will
be at one forty Pacific time on Friday. Now, if
if there's a sweep in the a l DS involving
the Yankees and Blue Jays, then the game on Wednesday
would slide to four o'clock Pacific time on Wednesday, So

(01:01:14):
we're rooting for that. And on Friday, if there is
only one al DS game, it would start at five
o'clock on Friday, October tenth. That would be problematic for
people here because the Huskies have a night game that
night against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Husky see them.
That's our Friday night game. I do believe.

Speaker 11 (01:01:36):
Yes, yeah it is. And uh yeah, that's the only
reason I know that is because I am to travel
that day.

Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
You're going to Old Miss and to Ole Miss. You're
going to Old Miss to watch a slaughter.

Speaker 3 (01:01:49):
Is what you're going you know what.

Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
I have high hopes you keep those hopes. You know
how I am. I know you are glass Apf fall
and I love you for that. But yeah, that's uh,
I don't know how that's gonna work out for us.
By the way, By the way, we got factor fiction
coming up. I'm gonna read with just one text and
one text only This is from the two six and
it reads as follows, Jess, West Virginia, BYU ready to chase, Chase, Chase, Ian,

(01:02:16):
Let's find out. Okay, where's that to go?

Speaker 3 (01:02:20):
Glad you're with us.

Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
It's your shot at our weekly thousand bucks and the
ten thousand dollars grand prize. It's Factor Fiction, probably presented
by Lucky Eagle Casino and hotel where every day Feels Lucky.
Fact Or Fiction is on Sports Radio ninety three point
three kJ R FM.

Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Well, it's college football music for Factor Fiction. I do,
I do appreciate the fact that people are keeping track
of my issues this year with Factor Fiction. I do
appreciate that with great, great zeal. Thank you so much. Yeah,
so I get I got in on the forty nine
ers in rams early for Factor Fiction, thinking I was

(01:03:06):
the smartest guy in America getting ahead of that. I
think you were gone at Mariner's practice that day, Jess
this week or Yeah, that's why I got in on that,
and Anders and I Andrews agreed this great pick. Yeah,
forty nine ers is gonna be missing everybody that didn't
work out, So we move on. Am I chasing again?
West Virginia BYU tonight. No, so stop it four nine

(01:03:29):
four five one. I'm not chasing that one. Instead, I'm
going with a surefire lock, absolute lock locked this one down,
Lock this one down. I love myself some diego Pavia.
I loved Yah, I love Pavia. But you, I'll tell
you right now, I'm not sure you can cash that check. Fella.
You can win in Nashville, that's all nice and fine.

(01:03:52):
Last year, you can win in Nashville, that's cool. I
think Simpson and Kaylin and the boys down at in
Tesca Loosa have figured things out, Jess. I think they
figured things.

Speaker 11 (01:04:04):
Out, Okay, I mean they had kind of had to.

Speaker 2 (01:04:09):
Well yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. This is a team Alabama
coming off a win against Georgia last week. Now, if,
and I mean if, if, if Vanderbilt had not beat
Alabama last season, I think I might have a different view.
But boy o, boy, do you think it's going to

(01:04:29):
happen two years in a row that the Crimson Tide
are going to lose to Vanderbilt? Do you really think
that that could happen? No?

Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
I don't know.

Speaker 11 (01:04:37):
That was an anomaly. That was a very Michigan Appalachian
State situation.

Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
Then the question is how bad will they beat Vanderbilt
by more than eleven and a half points, say twelve
or more. I say, yes, I do too, Alabama minus
eleven and a half fact four, nine, four or five one.
If you disagree fiction four nine, four or five one.
Now listen, I understand there is absolutely no reason to
have any I mean, there is zero reason to have

(01:05:05):
any confidence in my picks right now. So many of you,
if you're smart, would probably just text in fiction. I
don't want to encourage that you're texting in fiction because
it's embarrassing for me when those we all see those numbers,
and it's like when you get like a twenty percent
approval rates. It's bad enough the record is what it is,
but a twenty percent approval rates even worse. Screw that

(01:05:27):
all seriousness. Alabama struggled that first, that Floria State game. Yeah,
it sits there. It's just going to compete for crass.
But man, oh man, Vanderbilt is having really a historic
season for them at five and zero. Pabya is a stud,
but he's still like five foot one. And Alabama got

(01:05:47):
things figured out, and they've got them figure out in
a hurry and don't think for a second that they
don't have their attention, And don't think for a second
that Kalin de Boor and company won't roll it up
on these guys and run it up on these guys,
because they have heard for an entire year, especially calein
DeVore has heard from an entire year. You don't lose
the Vanderbild if you're Alabama, you just don't do that.

(01:06:09):
How do you erase that you don't? How do you
rectify it? Make it feel a little bit worse, a
little less worse. You just beat the brakes off these guys.
And that's what they're going to do tomorrow. I think
Alabama wins easily. They'll win by two touchdowns. They'll easily
win by twelve points or more. Fact four nine four
to five one. We are we doing this for you.
We're trying to win a thousand dollars weekly prize, ten
thousand dollars grand prize. Simple as that four nine four

(01:06:32):
or five to one. Fact four nine four to five
to one fiction text in right now, one thousand dollars
weekly prize, ten thousand dollars grand prize for you in
factor fiction, it's right to by the Lucky Eagle casino
and hotel where every day feels lucky. Text in right
now your chance to win one thousand dollars. I'm on
a little bit of a little bit of a slump

(01:06:52):
right now, Jess.

Speaker 3 (01:06:53):
You know what I am too.

Speaker 11 (01:06:54):
I'm hoping for my.

Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
Anders is holding up the show barely right now.

Speaker 11 (01:06:58):
Yeah, I know he's so small. I know to be
holding us all.

Speaker 2 (01:07:03):
I know he is bench pressing us as he speaks
right now. Oh gosh, that's all right. I got my
app open. I'm putting my one, I'm putting my money
millal my mouth is here at st'll call me casino.
I'm gonna I'm I'm going with the Crimson tide one
hundred percent all day, every day, minus one fifteen or
minus four sixty but minus one at minus eleven and
a half Alabama minus eleven and half fact four nine

(01:07:24):
four to five one. Text in right now, you're a
chance one thousand dollars. We could probabe ten thousand dollars
grand prize. All right, Softy and Fame soon to be
joined by MJ in the mid day for our round table.
Are down at Jimmy's on first and we'll check in
with them coming up next, All right, being down to

(01:07:50):
Jimmy's on first, as we get ready to take a
sixty minute break here, this will call me casino, hotel
and sportsbook before the big round table four pm.

Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.

Speaker 5 (01:08:02):
You're not going anywhere, Pal, Actually, if you want, you
can jump into your car and come on down here
and enjoined us at Jimmy's.

Speaker 3 (01:08:07):
I mean, how long we're to.

Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
Take you together? You think in Seattle on a Friday.

Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
Yeah, but it's three o'clock.

Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
No, I don't know, I don't know. I've already, buddy,
I've already. I've already done my driving today. I drove
from Maple Valley to Seattle, picked up a credential for
the a l DS Wow, drove out to Snow Colomba Casino,
and I'm subtling in here. One, Chuck, Pal, Charles Pal
already here, all yeah, bring around.

Speaker 5 (01:08:31):
Thirty two minutes currently right now from your location to
where we are, certainly or where we are sitting right now,
thirty two.

Speaker 2 (01:08:38):
I would, But I'm expecting to hang out Chuck and
Buck here. That's not at all what you're doing. You're
expecting to hit the bar as soon as crosstalk is over.
And that's fine, just admitute, I'm five feet from the bar. Yeah,
I'm already good.

Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
No, smart man. Smart Man had a milkshake instead a milkshake.

Speaker 8 (01:08:54):
What are you have?

Speaker 7 (01:08:55):
Four?

Speaker 3 (01:08:57):
Did that milkshake have Bailey's in it, by the way
or something?

Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
You know what? I should always shot in there. Know
that the new little cafe next to the restaurant here
Drip is called has milkshakes. And the guy, my guy
Nick and the sports book goes, hey, do you like milkshakes?
I go, well, yeah, who doesn't like? Like, first of all,
who doesn't like a milkshake? Like you have to really
be wrong, like you have to be messed up.

Speaker 3 (01:09:18):
Yeah, And I said yeah, And.

Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
Next thing you know, it comes back with a chocolate milkshake.
So I'll tell you this, I'm regretting every sip right now.

Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
Well, the only way you regard a milkshake is if
you're lactose and tolerant.

Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Man, So I don't know. I got it, and I am,
but I don't regret it. I got a little sugar
high going and but all that it was absolutely fantastic.

Speaker 3 (01:09:34):
By the way, is there nothing going on this weekend.

Speaker 5 (01:09:36):
By the way, we're talking about milkshakes and you know
I lactose and all that. We got starting pictures, we
got game times were whole freaking here's.

Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
The I don't want to step on what we've got
coming up from four to six.

Speaker 1 (01:09:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:09:48):
Good idea, good idea, good idea, because we've got nothing
else to talk about.

Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
Because here's what you always say. I don't want to
waste it on you right now. I got no no,
I always get not at Hey, what are you gonna
do next Friday? If there's a game, Fella, I'll be
working at you, Dub.

Speaker 5 (01:10:02):
I know exactly what I'm doing. That's fine, I got
I got three. No stress about that whatsoever? You three
years ago you were doing Yeah, Arizona, Arizona, you Dub
Jaden Dolaura was playing for Arizona, I believe back then. Uh,
and we had we had the the eighteen inning marathon
over it over at Tea Mobile Park.

Speaker 12 (01:10:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:10:19):
I'm not worried about Friday whatsoever. It's either what a
one o eight or a five o'clock game or something
like that. Is that right on Friday? I think what
we're rooting for for your mator fan. Honestly, I'll be
honest with you. If you if you're a matter of fan,
you root for a sweep in the other series. That
way you get a couple of later games.

Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
Which would be kind of nice. So like for sweep,
whether it's the Yankees of the Blue, whoever wins tomorrow,
you want them to win the next two.

Speaker 5 (01:10:38):
I actually don't mind the one await in the twelve
oh eight games for us to be phenomenal for show purposes,
it'd be great be on the air for the postgame
show right when it was all said and done.

Speaker 3 (01:10:46):
Yeah, well, that's all I care about.

Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
Is Mike. I've said this a million times. I just
think it sucks for the fans. But whatever it is,
what it is, it's baseball.

Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
It is, It is all right? What else? You got
anything else?

Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
How's hell's bleek Washington doing.

Speaker 5 (01:11:01):
I'll tell you at three thirty on Saturday after we
play the guy you always you'd always six five two thirty.

Speaker 3 (01:11:07):
He's eighteen years old.

Speaker 2 (01:11:09):
You know what I think with him is that he's
not gonna be at Maryland next year. That's what I think.
A probably no question. I was I was talking to
something about that the other day and they said, where's
it going to be next year? Ago, What do you mean?
He's in the Big ten, he's at Maryland. He goes,
he ain't gonna be a Maryland next year. Go, yeah,
you're right, Like he's that guy's gonna get paid a
lot of money to go somewhere next year. So meanwhile,
the Seahawks are going to go into a game with

(01:11:29):
it's gonna feel like a preseason game, isn't with all
the guys missing on both sides of the ball.

Speaker 5 (01:11:33):
Like, I don't know if i'd say a preseason game.
And we've had a lot of guys out already, you know,
for games this year, But I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:11:39):
Man.

Speaker 5 (01:11:39):
I was talking to our buddy kJ here at Jimmy's
and he says that they are prepared food and beverage
wise on Sunday for what would be the equivalent of
two Seahawk games, so one hundred and forty thousand people,
and that that three to five window when the Seahawk
game is unloading and the Mariner game is you know.

Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
The guys are coming in.

Speaker 5 (01:11:57):
So the little Ingress Egress there, there's gonna be a
lot of people filling occidental between those hours, and they
they are ready for one hundred and forty hundred and
fifty thousand people to come down here.

Speaker 3 (01:12:08):
So I work out to be a part of it. Bagshaw,
I don't know, man, she's on a beach somewhere. She's
on a beach.

Speaker 2 (01:12:15):
Just regress.

Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
Well, that was Chuck Armstrong that said that. Originally that
was his life.

Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
And Sally was the one that lost her mind about
you have more than like twenty thousand people down in
Soto at any get right and say one hundred and
forty one.

Speaker 3 (01:12:26):
Hundred and fifty thousand people is what they're prepared for.

Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
Yeah, you know what between Jimmy's, Our Friend's Juice and
Gary down the ox every how many cakes will they
go through on Sunday down in that area?

Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
I would say, I don't know, five hundred Maybe that's awesome.

Speaker 5 (01:12:45):
I mean how many how many kegs can you put
into one freaking warehouse? For God's sake, I don't know
how big those things are.

Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
With you know what they got that They got the
police escort for the NFL teams that come through. They need,
they need that for the Clumby distributing truck that's rolling
absolutely like a Brinks truck. Yeah, there's no money, it's
just full of booze. We're talking for really, do we
have to?

Speaker 3 (01:13:08):
Yes, we do.

Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
Standing here with you right day. He wants to come
on with you right now.

Speaker 3 (01:13:12):
That's fine. We'll just record it and play it back
at four o'clock. How's that.

Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
I'll talk to you and see. For the mild mannered
and marginally objectionable Inverness, this is Paddled Day saying so
long everyone,
