This week on the 222 Paranormal Podcast, we present a very special and deeply personal episode as we pay tribute to our friend and returning guest, Shetan Noir (Tracy DeAnna Herrell), who sadly passed away this week. Shetan wasn’t just a guest on our show—she was family to the paranormal community and someone who left an incredible mark on everyone who knew her.
Shetan was a prolific author, investigator, researcher, and lecturer who specialized in cryptozoology, lake monsters, and the strange and unexplained across the Midwest and beyond. She authored multiple books, delving into Great Lakes water monsters, cryptid creatures, and haunted places, always bringing her trademark curiosity and scholarly rigor to every topic she explored.
But even more than her impressive resume, Shetan was a truly warm and generous soul. She was known for helping other investigators, supporting local paranormal teams, and sharing her knowledge freely. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome in the often-murky world of the paranormal. Her sharp wit, infectious laugh, and remarkable storytelling ability made her an absolute delight to talk to—on the air and off.
In this episode, we take time to share our personal memories of Shetan—our favorite moments from recording with her, the things we learned from her, and the way she made even the creepiest stories fun and accessible. We reflect on her incredible dedication to the truth behind strange phenomena, her insistence on good research, and her passion for shining light on topics others might overlook or dismiss.
To honor her memory and celebrate her legacy, we’re also replaying our full interview with Shetan from last year. In that conversation, she talked about her work on Great Lakes monsters and cryptids, shared fascinating tales of strange sightings, and offered insights into the methods and challenges of being a field researcher in this niche. It’s a chance to hear her in her own words, doing what she loved most: teaching, entertaining, and exploring the mysteries of our world.
Shetan Noir leaves behind not only her published works and countless investigations but a commun
