New Orleans is a city steeped in history, mystery, and restless spirits. Few places in America carry the weight of legend and ghostly lore like the French Quarter, where every cobblestone street seems to hold a story. In this episode of the 222 Paranormal Podcast, we take you inside one of the most infamous haunted locations in the world—the LaLaurie Mansion—and explore other ghostly sites that have made New Orleans a mecca for paranormal enthusiasts.
At 1140 Royal Street stands the LaLaurie Mansion, once the elegant home of Madame Delphine LaLaurie. Behind its beautiful façade lurked a chilling darkness. When a fire broke out in 1834, neighbors and authorities uncovered a horrific secret in the attic—enslaved people held in chains, tortured and starved. The revelations shocked the city, and Delphine fled, never to face justice. The mansion was ransacked, yet its ghostly legacy lives on. To this day, passersby report hearing phantom screams, footsteps echoing through empty halls, and ghostly apparitions watching from the windows. Many believe it to be the most haunted house in America.
But the LaLaurie Mansion is just the beginning. New Orleans is a city where the line between the living and the dead seems thin, and stories of hauntings can be found on nearly every block. Take St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, for example—the final resting place of the famed Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau. Visitors often leave offerings at her tomb, hoping for her favor, and many report seeing her spirit walking among the graves, still guarding her sacred ground.
Another hotspot of paranormal activity is the Hotel Monteleone, a luxurious landmark in the French Quarter. Known as one of the most haunted hotels in America, guests and staff have reported the spirits of children playing in the halls, mysterious shadows, and elevators that move on their own. Writers and celebrities have long stayed at the Monteleone, but some never truly checked out.
We also share stories of the Old Ursuline Convent, one of the oldest buildings in the city, rumored to be linked to vampire legends. Local lore tells of mysterious casket-shaped crates arriving from Europe in the 1700s, followed by reports of pale figures roaming the streets at night. Whether fact or fiction, these stories remain a chilling part of New Orleans’ haunted history.
From ghostly nuns to pirate spirits, from Jackson Square to hidden courtyards, New Orleans offers no shortage of paranormal tales. It’s a city where history, tragedy, and legend intertwine, leaving behind echoes that seem determined to linger.
Join us as we journey through the shadows of the Crescent City, uncovering the stories of its most haunted locations. The spirits of New Orleans are waiting, and tonight, we step into their world.

Cardiac Cowboys
The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
