Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to the
group chat.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
So this is Yola
Gilliam and this is Lynne
Johnson, aka Lenny, if you askserious on my other friends that
call me Lenny.
How have you been this week?
I have been okay.
Well, you have some backproblems.
Oh yeah, I know, I don't know.
I fell.
I've been falling a lot lately.
(00:23):
I don't know what is up withthat, just being clumsy, I think
.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
You might want to
talk to a professional.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
It is being clumsy,
like I was in the kitchen and it
really used the bathroom andyou know how you're trying to.
Let me just do this reallyquickly.
Couldn't wait anymore.
Was running to the bathroom, myshoulder clips, the side of the
wall.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
I fall.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Yeah, I fall.
I got a bruise on my leg.
My back was out of whack, as ifI needed any more back problems
Because, like the week before,I was down with my back, you
know you know it is what it is.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Don't, don't, don't
let it linger.
It can just make other thingsworse.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
This is true, this is
true, and I definitely.
You know, as you get older, authoritis tends to set in, so I
definitely need to do somethingabout that.
But then that my week has beenreally, really good, how about
your week?
Speaker 1 (01:16):
It's been good.
I was trying to think it's.
I don't even know what day isthis Friday, oh it is Friday.
Thank God it's been.
It's been a pretty eventfulweek.
Well, uneventful week, I don'tknow what's it is, I don't
remember much of it, so I eitherhad a really good time or a
really bad time.
I'm going to say really good, let's go with that, because I
(01:39):
don't recall Like I said, I'mtrying to figure out even what
day of the week it is.
It's been just a lot ofpreparation.
You know I'm back in school, sotrying to finish up some things
.
How's that going?
It's going well.
It's going well.
I am in at WGU, which isWestern Governors University,
which is competency based, andso, luckily, a lot of the
(02:00):
material around human resourcesI am familiar with, so I've been
able to move through coursesfairly quickly.
Okay, and I've got a reallygood support system.
I mentor they give you aprogram mentor and he's
delightful and helpful, as hasbeen the instructors that I've
had contact with so far.
(02:20):
I've, I think, mms seventhcourse right now.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Very good.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yes, it moves pretty
quickly.
I started in November and whenwe be done competency based, you
can move fairly quickly ifyou're familiar with the
material.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Okay, and when will
your end date be?
Speaker 1 (02:39):
April.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
April.
What so?
Speaker 1 (02:41):
I had enough of stuff
to transfer, you know from
other school link, and so theytake that into account and you
get credit for some of thosethings.
And then, like I said, if youare familiar enough with the
material, it moves fairlyquickly.
I said I'm going to be held upby the algebra class they are
making me take.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Because, let's be
clear, Algebra when we were in
school.
I'm sure it is totallydifferent from the algebra that
they learned now.
Everything is different fromwhat they learn now Like I have.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
like I have a college
freshman right now and a high
school sophomore and I am nothelping anybody with any
homework.
I can go through some stuff andbe like ask the older one, do
you remember this?
So you can help your brother.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
What's crazy is?
That's crazy because I'm sureit's different from even how he
when he was in school.
Yeah, that is that that's wild.
Yeah, because you know two plustwo is no longer for anymore.
I mean it is, but it's not twoplus two, you have to.
It's two plus around the barn,in the barn, on top of the barn,
(03:47):
back down, and then you getfour.
It's I don't know, it's crazy.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Well, look for you.
I was a little bit nervousabout it but, like I said, after
some research, oddly enough Ifound this program because I was
job hunting and they had aposition that was of interest to
me.
And during my research to learnmore about the institution, as
(04:15):
you know, from a prospectiveemployer side of it, I found
this program.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Wait, you were
looking for a job at the school
that you're attending now.
Is that what you say?
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yes, and so I read, I
was reading up on their
programs, just to be, you know, become familiar with them, and I
was like, oh, I should lookinto that, and so I did.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
So that is going to
be amazing because now, well,
now, well, it could be amazing.
Well, it's going to be amazingregardless, because you're in
school.
But now, will you still want towork for the school once you
graduate, do you think, or wouldyou want to set your sights on
something else?
Speaker 1 (04:52):
If a position like
that came available again, I
would be interested.
I did not get that position.
It's one of those moments whereI filled out a scholarship
application about it and I said, maybe this, that was the
purpose of my seeing thatlisting and now just wasn't the
right time.
You know, things happen whenthey're supposed to happen.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
They do, they do they
in fact do.
Well, good for you.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Thank you, Awesome
Thank you.
I know last time we talked youwere wrapping up your program.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yes, I was.
Sunday was my last day.
I got my progress reportyesterday, which was off a
little bit, but it was good.
They had my attendance wrong,so she's going to fix it, but it
was good.
But overall 87% overall average, congratulations.
So, yeah, I'm happy about that.
(05:47):
And now more study.
Now I have to study for mycertifications, like my security
plus security certifications, and that's going to be no joke
because you have to study andstudy and study, because now the
certification is 395.
And if you fail, that's onlyyou have to continue to retake
(06:10):
it and repay the 395.
So, yeah, so now my focus isnow on studying to get my
certifications.
School never stops.
I mean, it's over per se, butthe studying is still there.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
So good Never stops.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Good Never, never
stops.
So watch out people.
Maybe I'll be an ethical hackersoon, in a good way.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Well, that's the
ethical part.
So, yes, we're excited aboutthat next journey.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
So what's on the list
for today?
So you know, last week I saidwe're going to keep it.
You know, very easy, breezy, because it's a Friday.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
You did not seem to
think that that topic was
determined.
That was a lie.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
So this we really are
going to keep it it cute, just
really easy.
I'm thinking about.
Let's talk about what are someof your favorite Netflix series,
slash movies.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
So simple.
Right, that's simple.
We keep it in a queue.
Yeah, are you saying Netflix, specifically Netflix, or is this
a general streaming servicequestion?
Speaker 2 (07:23):
general, if you have
like, if you watch any other
series on any other streamingservice, I don't know who I
watch, but I can.
I mean, it doesn't happennecessarily be Netflix.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
I watch it on Netflix
, so movies could be anything.
It's like a Kleenex generalterm for the streaming.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, I mean, you
don't have to keep it to Netflix
and you can even do movies too.
I know something that's reallybig, that's gonna be coming out
on Monday, that people aretalking about.
What's that?
It's the color purple.
Please tell me you've seen it,because I do have a family
member who has never seen it.
I won't call any names.
I won't shame her.
(08:05):
I'm gonna shame them.
You should disown them.
I have.
Well, I told her.
I said you need to get on it orI'm gonna have to revoke your
black car, so yes, I have seen Ihave seen, I have read, the
color purple.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
I have seen the color
purple.
I have seen the color purple onBroadway.
I am looking forward to seeingthe movie rendition of the
musical that is opening onMonday, december.
Yes, I'm so excited about it.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Now one thing I don't
think that I'm gonna like too
much is when they change thesongs.
I hear there's gonna be newsongs.
Change is good, obviously.
I just love you know how welike the original stuff.
New stuff, I'm sure is gonna begood.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
So here is my issue.
I get where you're coming frombecause I was like, like I said,
I have read the book the colorpurple many moons ago.
Obviously, I have seen themovie from 1982, 1983, whatever
the year was.
I've seen that more than enoughtimes that I could quote most
of the movie to you.
X.
I have, like I said, seen themusical on Broadway.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Now did you see it
with Tasia?
Speaker 1 (09:20):
So that was the goal
and we went with that in mind
and something happened and shewas not able to perform that
night.
So, no, but that had been theintention when we went.
But no, we did not, unfortunately, and I did not get
back.
I had hoped to get back to seeher in her life.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Wait and shout out to
Tasia because she's hometown.
She's from High Point, yeah.
So shout out to Tasia becauseshe is hometown 336.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Yeah, so I look
forward to seeing the movie.
But at the same time I was oneof those people who asked the
question I was like, all right,so we had a book and we had a
movie and then we had a Broadwayadaptation of the movie as a
Broadway musical.
Now we have an adaptation ofthe Broadway musical into a
musical movie.
Why, why and I don't say thisjust about the color purple Like
(10:12):
there have been a number Like,I think, like Mean Girls was
another one, where I was likey'all 73, you know deep in this.
Now let it go.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
So there are a number
of projects that have done this
and I have asked myself why Now, this one I'm still going to
see to support the people, and Ilove the color purple, and I
think I will say this like, there are things and folks that
I want to see, stuff thatthey're doing, and Danielle
Brooks is one of them.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
I love her.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
So I, even you, know
she had a show where she did
makeovers on the homes ofdeserving folks.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Yes, what's that good
?
I always wanted to see it, butI never have caught up.
So was it good.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
We enjoy it.
We enjoy it and you know it's atearjerker and the people are.
Most of those folks are doingreally good things in their
communities or for other peopleand so it's just a nice, you
know, warm something to watch.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Well, I really like
her.
I like the whole entire cast.
I love Taraji.
I love the intention.
Obviously I love DanielleBrooks.
They've done an amazing jobwith that and I'm glad I'm
excited to see her debut.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Yes, and I don't know
a lot of her hers music, and so
I have been looking forward tolearning more just about them as
a performer and Entertainer anda person, period.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
So yes, she's pretty
dope and Chloe, she's in it as
well.
I think is she.
I don't know what she plays.
We were there.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
No, so her is squeak.
Okay, the Hallie Hallie Bailey.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Oh, it's not Chloe is
Hallie, okay.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Hallie is young,
nettie.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Oh, oh.
This is going to be good.
It's going to be good.
Now did Oprah just produce it.
Is she in it in any form?
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Or she's just behind
the scenes.
I won't know till Monday ifshe's in it.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Hmm, okay, cause I
haven't really seen that many
trailers, just a few, so I justI didn't know, but I'm excited
about seeing it.
That's a movie that, let metell you, I could probably quote
almost the whole movie.
I mean, that movie is one ofthe ones that, anytime that it
comes on, I stopped and watch it, as if that's my first time
(12:33):
watching it, as you should.
Yeah, that one.
I'm going to say the fiveheartbeats.
Selena is another one.
I love Selena.
I watched that movie.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
I have never seen
Selena, but hear me out, there
is a reason why, in my defense,I I have a name that people
associate with Selena and Idon't like what people have to
say about it and I cannot see anamesake do a bad thing.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Well, I mean, I guess
, but I need you to.
I need you to get on it.
Okay, I need you to get on itbecause J L L played her till
off in that one and even there'sa Netflix series I don't know
if it's still on Selena, I thinkit's eight or nine parts is
really good, but the movie she,I have to say J L L L.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
L.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
L L.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
L, l, l, l, l, l, l,
l L L L.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
L.
L L the outcast or rapper Andre3000.
But like he said, he's, he'sevolved.
(16:01):
I like him playing the fluke, Ithink it's very thoroughly.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
I like I was like I'm
just going to put this on, let
it play in the background, and Ikept thinking it was going to
become background noise, youknow how it just kind of fades
out.
But I was like I just kept, Iwas enthralled, like I was
really engaged to and I sent itto my sons Don't do a lot of
like popular music and trendystuff, mm, hmm, but I was like,
(16:26):
oh, I think this is somethingthat they would enjoy.
They're gamers and one of theyou, and so they enjoy those
kind of compositions more, eventowards leaning towards
classical and stuff.
So this was something that Icould also not only did I enjoy,
but I could share with them aswell.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Yeah, I think that
would be.
Let me know how they like it,how they enjoy it, what they
think about it.
Pick up his latest album,people.
It's really good, Um.
So tell me something that youlike.
Some classics are not soclassics or new, or that's just
something that I was excitedabout.
I know that's coming out onMonday, so I wanted to throw
that in there with color purple.
(17:04):
But tell me something that youlike.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
So I was Watching
recently that I have been
watching for those people who do, who celebrate Christmas.
I am a huge like holidayromance movie watching person.
So that is basically what I'vebeen doing for the last since
Halloween, but other than that Ienjoy just kind of finding
(17:32):
random stuff.
So you ask about Netflix andI'll start with Netflix and
things that I watch.
I have been watched.
I love the upshaws because Ilove Ken fields and I love Wanda
Sikes, so I have enjoyed theupshaws.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Here's good, by the
way.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
It is, it's really
good.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Isn't your boy in
there?
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Mike Is that the one
he's in.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
Yes, ok, so hold on,
hold on, hold on Pin in that
Mike helps.
See, I can't.
He's one of those people.
You know how people couldn'tstand my boy, mr Danny Gloves.
Yes, feel that way about aboutMike.
That's because of sparkle.
(18:14):
So that's probably why, loki, Ihaven't watched the upshaws,
because I'm still holding thatvendetta against him.
I know that is just a show, butanyway, you know.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
I tell you this if
you talk about that sparkle
remake, I did not watch that inits entirety, I do not.
So I get really upset when Ienjoy something original or what
I shouldn't say.
Sometimes the original for oneperson is not the original for
another, but the sparkle that Iknow, I didn't care a spark.
Yes, and I was like I don'tneed this new sparkle.
(18:47):
This serves no purpose in mylife.
So I don't even know why youmade it, mike.
It's like because I don't knowthis new spark.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Yeah, he beat her
like.
He beat her like.
Beat her like.
Would a belt beat her.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Be it, I don't know,
it was just the first sparkle,
the first sparkle in my life, and Is that why you entertaining
this new sparkle.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Well, because I am a
Whitney Houston fan, I love her.
So, anything, whitney, I'm herefor I'm watching it, period In
the story.
I love Whitney, I'll give youthat and that's why I you know,
and people were trying to say,oh, whitney was over.
And this is when you know, whenshe came back, you know from
her recovery issues, and youknow that was her first movie,
(19:40):
you know, since sobriety, and Iwanted to support her and I
wanted to see it and I want tosee it on the big screen.
So that's why I went to see it.
Ordinarily I probably wouldn't,but that's why.
But anyway, so the upshows.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
Okay, yeah, first
wives club, which was a beat
beaty plus original that Iwatched the first season on that
, and now the three seasons thatare available are available on
Netflix now, which is reallycute.
It's Jelly from Philly.
Yes, she is fantastic in that.
(20:14):
Yes, right, michelle bath orthe bath.
I need to learn how topronounce her name.
Oh, and I'm forgettingMichelle's last name, buttoh, I
think, which is funny because Ialso watched the Bible of the
thickest, which is hilarious.
So, yes, and then I watched alot of matchmaking shows.
(20:34):
I didn't realize until Istarted thinking about what I
was going to say to you while wewere talking.
So Indian matchmaking andJewish matchmaking are very
interesting to me.
I enjoy matchmaking as aconcept, so seeing this in
cultures where it's veryprevalent is very interesting.
It is very interesting and it'salso one of those things that
(20:57):
shows clearly like even withdifferent you know races,
ethnicities, cultures, rightthat people are people.
They are.
So people who are havingtrouble finding matches across
the board have very similarpersonalities and attitudes and
(21:18):
thought processes.
So I'm rarely surprised thatthese people have not found
matches and are now reaching outto get some professional
assistance.
Coaching.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Speaking of dating
shows, which this one I really
love.
Love is Blind, love, love, loveit.
You know they're filming in theQueen City.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
I do.
I have a friend who they hadtold her that she should know
she's not there.
But another friend of hers hadtold her that she should
probably sign up and you know, audition or not, she did not.
But when I saw the notice thatyou know it was in Charlotte
everyone from Charlotte, this iswhere it was it takes it I was
(22:04):
like, do I need to pay attentionto this piece of it?
So I need to be watching.
She has assured me no, I canwatch only if I want to, but not
I will not find her there, notbecause of her.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
That's funny.
I love that show.
When I heard it with mysister-in-law, she told me that
you know, love is Blind isbecause we love that show.
It's taped in Charlotte.
I love that show because I lovethat.
Cameron and Lauren, lauren, ohmy God.
First of all, I love them.
I was rooting for them andthey're still married how many
(22:35):
years, bobby?
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Yeah, they just had a
vow renewal.
Yeah, I saw that, yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
I saw that.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Sometimes you know
you feel like stuff, certain
things are meant for certainpeople, and I felt that way
about married at first sightwith Doug, and why is his wife's
name going out of my mind?
I could not remember her namesave my life.
But sometimes I feel like theseshows are produced and created
(23:04):
for this one particular couple, not like the producers know that
, but just kind of like for themto find each other.
And they may not.
And I feel that Lauren and Camare that, oh man, and I feel
like they can just stop doing itnow.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
I mean because they
are just.
They're so cute together.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
They are so so cute.
They have been very.
I've watched, I've gone back afew times and kind of watched
some of their content that theycreated around.
You know that process and theirlife and lessons that they've
learned just being married atthis time and I really enjoy
watching the their connectionstrengthen and them grow as a
(23:41):
couple and as individuals.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Yeah, they have, they
really have.
They just seem so.
They appear to be very much inlove and just really like each
other, friends.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
Yes, is what they
appear.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
That's very, it
really is.
Oh yeah, so you like that, soyou got you watch.
Do you watch that as well, inaddition to love at first sight?
Speaker 1 (24:03):
So I don't watch any
of them anymore.
Okay, I.
So I got my feel of marriagesfor sight at first sight, I
think.
Godly the year, I think, whenthey they did a season in
Charlotte too with some you knowarea folks, though.
Okay, and then I just love isblind.
(24:24):
What did he say?
I can very angry with some ofthe school, and I know it's not
them.
I know that there is a lot thathappens the editing In the
editing and the post-productionthat makes people seem a certain
way.
But no, no, like I said, it'skind of like.
You know, we talked aboutFantasia being from high point
and I had watched American Idolreligiously and till her season,
(24:47):
and after that I was like, well, it's kind of, lost is once.
You know somebody who's one isweird.
It's like you don't get thesame.
Well, I did not get the samething out of it.
So I didn't watch anymore and Iwas like, once I have gotten, I
think, all the entertainmentI'm going to get out of a show I
just moved on.
No, I get it.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
I think that's one of
the shows that I think I don't
know, I think it's run itscourse, but people love it.
Yeah, people Love people.
People don't yeah, they will.
But I have to say I don't thinkI watched a few episodes
afterwards, but I think that'swhen I really stopped watching.
Like you is after J Hood andFantasia was on.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
That's when I am
doing extremely well, yeah, so
yeah, that was a powerhouseseason two.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
I know, oh man, oh
man, yeah, it was.
But you know how.
You were just saying how peopleedit things and you become
upset with things that people do, you know.
But I've never understood, because I was watching Marit to
Medicine and it just always inany type of show like that.
(25:59):
I've never understood.
No, this was Housewives ofPotomac.
I've never understood whypeople, if you know something is
going to upset your mate orfriend, why do you do it Like,
oh God, I got to go back until X, y and Z, oh, he's going to be
pissed.
If you know he's going to bepissed, why would you say
anything?
That just never made any senseto me, to you, does it make
(26:22):
sense?
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Don't understand why
you would do something you know
is going to make somebody youcare about upset in any
circumstance.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
We are, but I'm like,
but I guess for ratings I guess
, I don't know, but do you watchany?
Speaker 1 (26:34):
of the Housewives.
I used to watch Atlanta and,but I haven't since the.
They took an inial.
Him feels was up.
No, oh God, you don't concernme.
Ken feels was there.
Okay, eric used to watchPotomac, so I would like, when
he was watching, if I was in theroom I'd watch with him, but I
(26:56):
would get so annoyed by certainmembers of that cast that I just
could not.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Oh, that's not my
favorite.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
I no longer watch any
but I did have a have a former
colleague who was like when sheand I said she is a Housewives
fan, and I mean the franchise, like to the point that I even
bought her like that seemedmerchandise as a going away
present, she is the real dealfan.
(27:23):
The Housewives shout out to you.
You know who I'm talking to.
But so I would enjoy listeningto her tell me more of the stuff
than actually watching the show.
Yeah, oh, my God, I love thehouse.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
I used to watch them
all.
Atlanta, I used to watchBeverly Hills.
I'm going to ask you a question.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
You lived in Atlanta.
Do you know any of these people?
We do not, wow.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Because you know
they're.
These are new people.
When I say new like differentfrom when they when it first
started.
No, did you know any of thosepeople?
Speaker 1 (27:57):
Because I see how you
know.
No, no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
I don't, I don't, but
I love to.
You know what?
I do miss Atlanta, but I watchit.
I used to watch it because, well, it came on when I lived
there and I love to watch itbecause I love to see, like, oh
yeah, I know that spot, you knowthey used to go there, or you
know, I don't know, you know, ornew things, atlanta has changed
(28:22):
so much.
I go back now and it's like isthis the place I used to live,
because they built so much, youknow, a lot of high rises.
Now it's just, it's just, it'sjust changed.
But no, I don't know any ofthem.
No, no, let's talk about this.
What did you think about themovie?
(28:43):
Because I was scrolling throughInstagram yesterday and Bet
Metler had posted this clip ofwas it the step for what?
I think it was, but it made methink of beaches.
Do you remember that movie?
Speaker 1 (28:59):
I loved beaches.
I loved beaches.
I have watched beaches and Idon't mean again.
I loved Neil Long, but I didn'tneed new beaches.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
That's all I'm going
to ask you Did you watch that
one Bet?
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Metler and Barbara
Hershey, so I needed them to
stop.
I did not watch new beaches.
I did?
Speaker 2 (29:18):
I watched it just
because I wanted to see if it
was going to be similar.
But I mean you cannot.
I mean the original issue.
It just is what it is.
People, the original, nothingis going to.
Any of the redo's are not goingto touch the original.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
It is not, I will not
say that because there is one
exception to that rule for me.
Which one, tell me.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Imitation of life.
Okay, I mean, they didn't knowwhat.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
Well, no, the one
that you are probably most
familiar with is a remake.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Oh well, yeah, I like
the original, but I do like the
remake better.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
So, yes, that, like I
have, and I've seen both of
those and, like I said, I doenjoy it, but that is probably
the only remake, yeah, which wasand that's still back in the
day though.
Yes, like both of those werestill way long time ago.
That's a classic one too, yoImitation of life.
It just that's my movie, thatis my Mommy.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Dearest.
I mean, did you like that movie?
Did you see it?
Speaker 1 (30:25):
I did see Mommy
Dearest and I did enjoy Mommy
Dearest.
That was a mean mama.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
I mean she, christina
, and her brother Nathan,
literally Nathan.
She left them, I don't know, she was just very, she was a
cruel mom, but that was, oh myGod, that was but beaches.
When I tell you every time Isee that movie Classic, any of
us, I mean just classic I'lltell you what I have been um
binging we shouldn't say bingingWell, he had kind of been jing,
(30:51):
so I used to watch this.
When it first came on how toget away with murder, the
numbers lassen's really down.
But it was Not just yourprevious movie, well, the Cafe
Homemade.
I mean two of you, you gottapiece your faces, uh, and I mean
you didn'tisan get, it wasreally.
You just had to stand therelike that.
Well, I got it out of me.
(31:12):
Cocktails andwaiter I get.
I mean you said are you out ofyour mind what the hell and
again.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
he did give me
features like that.
You, I don't know, I haven'tbeen in Shoerelated enough
Effort doin it on it.
There was not even like areason.
I just never went back.
Should I pick it up, did you?
Speaker 2 (31:28):
not like it.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
I really enjoyed the
first season, and it's Viola
Davis for having sake, so I justdidn't go back.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
It was, I don't know.
It's just always interesting tosee.
I don't know, it's a lot of theplot thickens and twist and
turns.
You know, and I'm on the well,I'm like this.
I can't even remember whatseason I stopped watching, but
you know, I just kind of likewhen I was at her house we just
picked up and it was just Ithink I'm on like the last
(31:56):
season now, but it's, you knowit's one of those shows.
I'm the type of person I can'tlike a lot of like.
I love drama and thrillers, butif it gets done, done, done.
You know I have to like I haveto pause it for a minute because
(32:18):
my heart I get papputations andI just have to put it down for
a minute.
Yeah it's.
You may should pick it back up.
And you know, the other one wasa scandal.
Do you know?
All those years that I watchedscandal, I have yet to watch the
season finale.
You don't know what happened.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Well, I won't ruin
that for you, but I will say I
left that series.
I love scandal Like I created aFacebook group of other scandal
fans and I have watched thatseries a number of times, except
(32:57):
the final season.
So, you've never seen the finalseason.
I've seen it, but I've notrewatched it.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Okay, so the final
season was in totality when you
watched it originally and justnever went back to watch the
final series.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Yes, I was so you,
I'm not going to ruin it for you
.
Certain things have been, especially in that last episode.
I was so angry at some of thedecision making and I'm like I
will not put myself through thatagain.
I will just live in thisfantasy world where these things
are still occurring.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Oh, but when I tell
you there were so many moving
parts in that show, oh mygoodness, it's crazy, but yeah.
And when I tell people thatthey're like what I'm like, yes,
and you would think that Iwould pick it up and go and I
want to see the last episode, Iwas so mad that I didn't see it
when it first aired, that Ithink I just got mad and I don't
(33:52):
even know what I was doing thatnight, that it was one that I
couldn't watch it originally, and I think I should be bearded,
but I just life.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
So I just never got
around to watching it.
Hey, diankee, mo, mm.
Hmm, quinn and Hook have apodcast Um called.
I think I'm packing a toolboxand they are literally going
episode by episode what it,giving their feedback and their
(34:23):
thoughts, and some behind thescenes you know, to bits.
I've listened to I want to sayabout three or four episodes.
I enjoy it and it's on my listof podcasts that I put on when
I'm driving.
But you should check it out.
It's funny, it's entertaining.
They they bring on, like youknow, Chandra, rimes and Kerry,
(34:49):
and all the people come as guest.
Really, it's interesting tohear their perspective, having
been there, how they feel about, because they do actually
rewatch them before they talkabout.
So really, I'm going to listento them.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Really, I am going to
listen to them.
Yeah, like that would be so, so.
So they just take you.
So what is their podcast about?
They just talk about thatepisode or what they were
feeling in that moment, likewhat they talk about, the
(35:27):
episode.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
They talk about, like
I said, the behind the scenes
things, some of the stuff that, like they may have been
personally going through and howit impacted, how they did a
scene or you know, just just allof it.
Like there is basically they'rewatching the show, they're kind
of like reacting to it as a fan, but then they get they can add
some more depth to it becausethey were there.
(35:48):
Plus they are just as a as ateam.
They are hilarious, oh mygoodness.
Friends in real life.
They play off each other well.
It's just a good time.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Oh my goodness, and
what was the guy's name who
started off with them?
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Are you talking about
the short?
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,I'm still mad at him.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
Yeah, I mean he, you
know he fumbled the bag on that
one.
He fumbled the bag on that one.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
When I don't look at
that, because I don't need a
lawsuit, because I have so muchthat I want to say about.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
No, but I'm just
saying I don't understand when
people are put in thesepositions, that to say where
life changing things, or youknow, you know, whatever it may
be, whether you like changingsituations don't change who you
are at your core.
Speaker 1 (36:40):
This is true.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
So it only enhances
it.
But I'm just saying, like youget opera to like, when you get
these opportunities that peopledon't get every day and you go
and do something, someconfundery, some buffoonery, I
don't, I don't get it.
I just I just don't get it.
But yeah, that was, that was areally, really good classic show
(37:02):
.
So, ok, so I may have to.
I got to check out that podcast, you do.
I definitely have to check outthat podcast, and what is it?
Speaker 1 (37:13):
I'm packing the
toolbox.
I want to say I'm packing thetool box.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
I actually like that
title, I do too, Hmm,
interesting, ok, all right.
Well, even on the lines ofMovies and social media was good
.
What's new in the world ofsocial media?
Speaker 1 (37:39):
I don't know if it's
new, but I found it a couple of
days ago on Instagram accountthat I follow Black Love Bible,
and it is when we pull it up,because you did send it to me
and I have not read through itand a woman from Dutchess, from
Dutchess at Dutchess Tunderscore, and her post says he
(38:02):
commented on my post.
She replied to his comment.
The guy replied again.
Sorry y'all, my phone just wentback, I'll start again.
He commented on my post.
She replied to his comment.
The guy replied again.
She replied back and they wereabout to fall in love with my
post so I deleted it.
Hmm, and the comments kind ofate her up Called her a hater
(38:29):
and all this kind of stuff.
What do you think?
I'm kind of looking through someof these, these comments, and
is definitely giving is givinghater which I think the first
one I see is like wait, whywould you stop love Like I do?
I'm curious.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
Yeah.
And then someone else goes onto say, plot twist, he knows her
handle, he knows her handle itbetter, better.
This is true Now if he'sreplied back to her at least
three times.
But he does know her handle.
So I don't know if Dutch isdating.
(39:08):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
I don't follow, I
don't know, I don't know who
Duchess is.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
She lives in Gastonia
actually.
Oh, she's from the house, Letme.
Let me rewind that.
She's from Gastonia.
Um, she was on Black Ink.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
Oh, ok, well, I do
know, that show.
Eric watched that show.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Yeah, oh, so that's.
That's the show she was on.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
But I don't
understand.
I guess for me I would.
I enjoy other people's lovestories.
I like oh, I would be like andguess how they met because of me
.
So I don't know that I wouldnot want them to have a chance
just because they met on mysocial media posts.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
Yeah, which I don't
know.
You know, I think this may leadinto another topic or another
day, but do you think now wewon't go there?
Speaker 1 (40:07):
But yeah, well, I'm
going to tell you what I think.
I don't know what question youwere about to ask, but what I
think is what's for you is foryou, and if these people are
quote meant to be together, they're going to find each other
, like you said.
Somebody said they got eachother's handles, I'm assuming.
I'm assuming there was somescreenshot and happening as
(40:27):
people do, we, absolutely Idon't understand the point of
doing it.
I sure as heck don't understandthe point of telling people you
did it.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
Well, look, and
here's the thing, even if they
didn't have each other's handleand they liked each other's
comments, guess what?
You can go back and look at allthe light posts that you've
liked.
So, oh, she didn't have themconnecting.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
She deleted the whole
post.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
Oh, dang that it so
yeah, that would just put a
kibosh in my theory.
Yeah, I don't know, but do youthink that that's a good
question and I think thereshould be a topic for another
day.
Do you think black people as awhole, black women do you think
(41:16):
that they don't cook theirfriends up with people if they
know, because you know othercultures will say hey, you know,
bob, have a friend, we want tohook you up.
Do you think that our culturedoes that?
Or do we try to hate and nottry to hook our friends up if we
know someone no?
Speaker 1 (41:36):
people who have
hooked people up or ask hey, I
have this friend who is lookingto date.
Do you know anybody who youknow might be an appropriate
companion or mate?
I don't know any people who arehating, but I'm sure there's
some out there.
I don't I don't know Again, andwe kind of talked about this and
(42:00):
I feel like a broken record tokeep saying this.
I also don't like know a lot ofsingle people who know other
single people.
So they're usually askingsomebody who is in a long term
relationship if they or theirsignificant other know people.
And that's how it's happening.
Does that make sense?
(42:24):
Is no, it does.
It does.
So it's not like single peoplelooking at a single people up.
I do think that it could besome adoration there.
If you're looking for a mateand then if you find somebody
who you feel is eligible andworthy of your friend, you're
probably not going to be likeI'm looking for somebody, I'm
(42:44):
going to give this eligibleperson who I think is great to
somebody else.
Most people would not do that.
Now it takes a certain maturityto recognize everybody you know
who might seem like an eligiblemate might not be the mate for
you and recommend you know andintroduce him to somebody else.
But especially as the pool getssmaller, as I understand it, I
(43:08):
can see people not being willingto be like.
Let me set you up with thisincredible person.
I know if I'm also looking forsomebody.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
Yeah, I don't have a
problem.
You know, like, look, if I havea friend and I have another
friend and I think that he'sgood for my friend and she may
be looking for someone, and Ithink they may get along, or
they have some of the same, youknow, I think they may like each
other, I think they may havethings in common, why not?
(43:36):
Why not?
Speaker 1 (43:38):
Well, we're going to
ask folks to come back to you
when we have that conversationwe said we're going to have
about dating and relationships.
This will be something we addto that agenda.
Speaker 2 (43:48):
Yes, yes, yes yes.
Speaker 1 (43:52):
And we've been
chatting and chatting and it's
about time it is, unfortunately,to move on to the next item in
our days, like I said, it'salmost time to wrap up, so we
want to talk a little bit aboutwhat are we spotlighting this
