Milroy's troops to retreat. As they advanced into southern Pennsylvania, many locals expressed fears of the notorious reputation of these spirited Louisianans, often associated with rowdy behavior.
🌍 At the iconic Battle of Gettysburg, Hays's Brigade took bold action on the second day by charging East Cemetery Hill and managing to capture several Union artillery pieces. However, they had to withdraw when they did not receive the necessary support from fellow Confederate units.
