Hello and welcome to Americans TalkAustralian survivor I'm.
Hello and welcome to Americans TalkAustralian survivor I'm.
Hello and welcome to Americans TalkAustralian survivor I'm.
Rachel, I'm Leah. And I'm Matt.
Thanks for joining us.
We just watched episode 17of Australian Survivor.
Brains versus brawn two.
Or should we say bounty versus Barrett?
There will be spoilers ahead. Yeah.
We open up on the barren beachwhere we see that

(00:20):
the new tribe of Barrens have no shelter.
It's storming.
They have no flint fire.It looks miserable.
Oh, and it's nighttime.
Oh. I'm cold just thinking about it.
It was horrible, that rain just pouring.
Pouring down on. Them and their clothes.
They just seemed like they were so wetthat they would be wet for for hours,
days, you know, a couple of daysuntil they dry out.
Yeah.
When your shoes get wet, your socks too, like, so that it looks pretty miserable.

(00:44):
I just it doesn't seem to make sensewhy they put this twist in.
It doesn't seem very fair.
And Polly is certainly unhappy about this.
He is complaining about that.
He got voted for to go on this tribe.
We see his greatest hits of worst timesfor Polly throughout the show.
Oh, that was funny.
I'm sorry, partly, but it was funny.

(01:05):
Especially when Laura's torch hit you.
And it looks like everyone's really hurtyou, though.
Sorry.
He still has the bandage on. Yes.
Yeah, he did declare I won't forget.
Right. Yeah.
We saw JLP read out a lot of votesfor Paul in a lot of different outfits.
Yes, yes.
We also saw that Logan was quite upset.
She was upset that people voted for her.

(01:27):
And this seems to be the scenario
every time we come back from a tribalcouncil.
Logan's always upset.
So kind of par for the courseon that one. Yeah, but good for.
I mean, she's still there.
She can be mad, but each timesomeone gets voted out, it's not her.
So she should actually be pretty happy.
And then we bounceover to the bounty tribe
and it looks slightly different.

(01:47):
Yeah. It does. Yes.
They put itlooks like the sun is out. Yeah.
They're eating breakfast.
They have their shelter.Everyone's relaxed.
It looks like a great time. Right.
AJ's talkingabout how he really loves eggs.
And they bring back.Brings back memories for him.
And they're sitting shoulder to shoulderright there on the beach,
eating their omelets.
Looking out at the ocean.

(02:09):
Current, though, does still havesome complaints about the tribe.
She has been targeting Kate, Morganand AJ and is realizing that
since theyare all on the same bounty tribe,
if they were to winthe immunity challenge,
she cannot vote for any of those three.
Which makes me wonder, isshe about to throw the immunity challenge?
You know, I was thinking the same thingwhen I saw it.

(02:30):
All right, that was just the feeling.
But I'm so glad that didn't happen
because it's always disappointingwhen that happens.
And it
didn't take long for her to reverse hercourse coming up soon.
But we see that AJis still looking to get out Logan.
So even though Logan's here, she is still receiving votes
even from the other tribe, right? Yes.

(02:53):
And we go back to the Baron tribewhere Miles is feeling pretty good.
He thinks that he has friends on bothsides, enemies on both sides to vote out.
So even though they don't have foodor shelter
and everyone else is having a horribletime, Miles feels good.
He he he does not feel vulnerable.
And that's always a scary situation
when a player doesn'tfeel vulnerable in survivor.

(03:15):
Could be foreshadowing.
You're right.You're afraid something's going to happen.
Well, I think it's interestingbecause Polly has a little sound bite,
and he said that, he felt that Milesthrow him underneath the bus
with that vote, sending him to the Barontribe, and he's very, very upset.
Don't you agree? I mean, he looks so sad.

(03:37):
Polly is really taking this personally.
Being being voted to go on the Barontribe, right?
I mean, he's upset.
He is low.
I mean, he is so sad. It looks like.
But not on the bounty side.
I'm totally upset.
There is some inter, tribal tension though.
Oh, you see thatKate and Morgan are talking in the woods

(03:58):
and they're saying, you know, it'sso awkward with Khan and Zara there.
I don't know whythey don't want to work with us.
And then corners Zara
sitting at the fire saying,I don't know why those girls don't
want to work with us.This would be such a great opportunity.
So everyone's thinking the same thing.
And finally, Kate pitches
that they all work together to vote outMyles, the common enemy.
Yeah, Karen is ecstatic, right?

(04:21):
She is extremely happy.
Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Yeah.
She is very excited to get out Mylesand into work with Kate and Morgan.
But then AJ. Comes up.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Do you tell AJ Myles number one.
So Kate and Morgan are trying to formthis relationship with AJ.
They've sort of been working with him.
So I think from their standpointthey would look

(04:41):
pretty bad to keep it from him.
But it is his number one.
So I think this is a risky movethat they do.
Next when they go up to AJ, they pitch itand he says he's not against it.
Right.
So I think it's it's too soon to ask.
And why why would AJ be upset later onif he found out?
I mean people make plans.

(05:01):
Don't tell everybody immediately.
Well, Karen was very, very upset at AJwhen he didn't tell her about his
idol, right? Right. People just get mad.
Especially when you have nothing to dobut sit on that beach.
You get mad.
And figure outwho's going to go home, right?
It just seems too early for meto be worrying about this.
They haven't even had the challenge.
Well, AJ

(05:21):
says that he is interestedin having some separation for miles.
They have to agree.
He does have a lot of overlap with Miles
in the game,so they've made a lot of moves together.
They've played similarly chaoticand kind of villainous games,
and so he probably shouldn't want to sitnext to Miles at the final tribal.
You're probably right.

(05:42):
But it's I don't want to see him, separatebecause they're a good team.
I think if it comes down to those two, they will figure out
how one of them will figure outhow to get the other one off.
Yeah, that's what I think.
Well, it would be a good showdown, right?
I think they're competitive enough
knowing that they shouldn'tboth be in the final.
Yeah.
Well the other factor

(06:03):
at this point in the game isthat Miles has an idol and AJ knows it.
So AJ is nowin this very interesting position.
Where is he going to try to sneakthe idol away from Miles?
Is he going to,
you know, say why don't you let mehold on to that tonight and get greedy?
Or is he going to send him homewith an idol in his pocket?
Oh. Very interesting.Don't think about that. Right?

(06:24):
I can't see Miles giving up his idol, but I could see him going home
with it in his pocket.Oh, yeah, I could see Miles doing that.
They won't vote for me,you know that, right?
Yeah. And everyone thinks.
Well, back
at the Baron Trade tribe, more poorly said.
He doesn't trust anyone.
He's so grim, he thinks he'll be the nextone voted out if they lose.

(06:45):
But one person,
Kaitlyn, is very happy.
Did you noticethat he's talking to Kristen?
Yeah.
He never seems to be having a bad day. No.
He doesn't.
He even saidhe thinks it's good for his game
to be having these new connectionsand be put on a new tribe, right.
So he's having fun. Good for him.

(07:05):
Right? Well, I thought it was weird. He's talking to Kristen.
We can make it to the final two.
We can make it to the final two.
Then they even practicewhat they would say.
I know, are. Each other kind. Of weird?
Yeah.I didn't see the two of them together.
I don't know why.
Well, then something really interestinghappens.
Over on the Baron tribe,we see Kaitlyn, Kristen, Logan and Polly
having a chat, and they are also pitching Miles.

(07:27):
Yeah, everyone on both Miles, right.
And Milesis what keeps walking up the night.
Like how he didn't hear that.
I mean, they're talking right about him.
And then he comes up and then, you know,go hang the water bottles over there.
And he does, you know.
Well, so at this point,I'm thinking there's no way
that AJ is going to be ableto sneak an idol past miles,

(07:48):
because if every person on the beachis talking about voting out
Miles, he's going to get wind of it.
He's going to play his idoland he's not going to give it up. Right.
There goes that plan.
And then it's offto the immunity challenge.
And we see the polls up therewith the notches on their feet.
I think oh boy, that looks painful. Yeah.
So they're split
up into bounty versus Baronand the bounty.

(08:11):
Given their advantage, they get to start at
the very top of the poolnow at the highest rungs for their feet,
where the Baron have to standin the middle of the pool, where they've
already lost some of that widthfor their feet to rest on.
What?
So what a huge advantage.
I think. Yes.
Wow. Especiallybecause at the top of the pool,

(08:31):
you can kind of stand upand wrap your arms over top.
It looked way more comfortable to beat the top of the pool than have your face
kind of smashing into the middle.
I have to say, it does look a little bit
frightening to be up that high, just like with your body draped over.
Yeah, a big pole, you know, and your feet are the.
Oh yeah, it's holding you up kind of.You know what I mean?
Morgan decided to start in the middle,

(08:51):
not the top, because she was afraid of heights.
Right? Right.
I mean, it's a long way down.
If your feet slip, you know, you're,
you know,if your feet get sweaty and it slips and
that would hurt.
That would hurt going down there.
For about ten minutes into it.
Logan and Kaitlyn both are out.
For the Baron tribe. Yeah.
So this is kind of one of thoseinteresting challenges that it's,

(09:13):
you know, it's only one personhas to win for the whole tribe.
So I think it's one of those challengeswhere if you think you're
not going to be the last one there, you may as well just drop out,
because it's not worth saying, you know,if you you're not going to outlast
your other tribe mates,it has no benefit for you to be there.
But Polly is determined to stick with it,even though he's malnourished.

(09:33):
And he is.
But yeah. Yeah.
He kept on fighting. He did.
He needs this, right?
All right.
So Morgan and Karen went out next.
Then 20 minutes, AJ went outand then Kristen
and then there were two each,Polly and Miles and Kate and Zara.
And I have to say, Miles look prettygood there also, don't you think?

(09:56):
He does?
He does better in these challengesthan you think.
The physical challenges you think.
You know, it seems.
Go ahead.
Yeah.
He always seems to he always seems to belike just towards the front of the pack.
He's never about to win,but he's always very close
to being in the final two or so.
Yeah, you're right.
It doesn't drop outright at the beginning.

(10:17):
Now he did. So we get to do a good effort.
So then finally it comes down to Pollyas the main person for the Baron versus
Kate and Zara for the bounty.
So it really comes right down to Pollyand he is struggling.
Keeps readjusting.
He's like oh is it going to slip.
Is he going to be able to do it.
And he stays on therefor a really long time.
It looks like Kate wanted to drop out.

(10:40):
52 minutes. Right to two minutes.
And Jonathan pointed outa, interesting thing.
He said that Polly's feetare larger than Kate or Zara's,
so that was something else that he puthe was able to accomplish.
Right? Yeah.
Think that's more difficultfor a bigger foot to be on that tiny.
Yeah. I'm surprisedthey didn't account for that.

(11:02):
Like, you know, sometimes they make, specific like challenges.
Percentage of your weight. Yeah.
I wonder why they didn't do thator your height.
So right off the bat, it's.
Yeah, it's too bad for Pollybecause he really ones that we can tell
and he keeps adjusting and adjustingand it didn't look like he was giving up.
He was just adjusting.

(11:22):
And he slept and he was on the sandand out of the challenge,
making him vulnerable at tonight'stribal council.
But Kate and Zara won immunityfor the entire bounty tribe, so not a huge
surprise.
Knowing that they had shelter, they had breakfast at advantage, right?
We all kind of expected that, you know, one.
Yeah. And earlier that,

(11:44):
Baron's tribe said they didn'tget any sleep either.
So, I mean, it's incrediblewhat they were able to accomplish.
Even just getting there seemed amazing.
Let alonestanding on that ledge for two minutes.
So. So then congratulations to Pollyfor the great play.
Yeah.
Then it's time for everyoneto reunite for a scramble.

(12:07):
Yeah.
So everyone is back on the beach
and AJ is kind of reiteratingthat he wants separation from Miles.
And Khan is not so surethat he actually means
that she wants to split the voteson Polly.
Right.
And AJ only. Talks.
They all agree that Miles needs to go.
Yeah, it's interestingthey're still in agreement.

(12:28):
Yeah, but then ages,
has some interesting thoughtson the whole Miles situation, he says.
But Miles is kind of a shield.
It's like lowering.
It's good to have a shield for himon the opposite side of the tribe,
but he wants to lower their relationshipand kind of split them up.
He wants AJ and Miles to be on oppositesides of the tribe
to lower their dual threat, which I thought was very interesting.

(12:49):
So he's not ready to give up milesas a player in the game, but he is willing
to create some space between themfor the benefit of both of them.
So he's thinkingpretty hard about the game, right? Yes.
I didn'tI didn't think that was going to work
because when it comes down to voting, they're going to see how you vote.
And if the two of you voteat the same way,
but if they have a waythat they can work it out,

(13:10):
that they can both vote differentlyand still come up with the same goal.
Fantastic.
Yeah, well,I was interested when AJ went up to Miles
and told
Milesabout they were all going to vote for him.
So obviously he doeswant to work with Miles.
Right?
Yeah. And I think it makes sense.

(13:30):
Like we were saying,it's pretty early in the game.
You know, for AJ to be going after Milesso I can understand
why he wants to continue working with him,
I thought it was a little bit soon for himto be cutting ties with Miles anyway,
so it seems like AJ is really goingafter this plan of let's work together,
but just not quite as publicly.

(13:51):
Right?
So then Miles has this great idea.
He says that he has an idol, and instead of just playing it, he's
using this opportunitywith this knowledge to make a big move.
So what he does is he goes to Logan
and Paulie separately, and he says, I have an idol.
I will be here tomorrow.
You're the split vote.

(14:11):
So either you go home or you vote with me.
I couldn't I couldn't believe thathe shared that knowledge, that he wasn't
just going to just bring it upat the tribal Council, that he would.
That he would tell Logan beforehand.
I'm like,oh, that seems like a big mistake to me.
What do you think? We think so, I don't know.
I think it could haveworked out well because we,

(14:33):
we can believe them, right?
We know thatthere's going to be a split on Paulie.
And if just Miles has his one votefor whoever he wants out
and everyone else puts Miles. Paulie,Paulie still goes home.
So he wants the power of saying, let's all unite together and get one
specific person now instead ofjust losing one of these random numbers.
Right.
I think it was a smart move on Milesto kind of get the band together

(14:54):
a little bit, so to speak.
I think it's an excellent idea.
He's not giving up.
I mean, he constantly has a plan, just like AJ.
Those two are excellent players.
Or they're thinking aheadlike a game of chess. Right? Right.
But then.
But then Logan goes and tells everyone.
Oh my gosh, I can't believe it.
Come on Logan, he's trying to help you.

(15:15):
Right?
So Miles's plan is he wants to get out.
Kristen.
He's saying Kristen is friendswith everyone on the beach.
She's very unassuming.
Everyone's kind of friends with her,but he has no benefit to Miles himself.
And I think that makes total sense.
Yeah, she's just kind of beena number this whole time.
And she has no way
she brings nothing to Miles table,so makes sense that he's targeting her.

(15:39):
I think Logan wants to work with Kristen.
Logan just doesn't like Miles or AJ.
I think she's been,
you know, kind of stabbed in the backby them a little bit several times.
So I think she was just not interestedin working with Miles and said, I'd rather
turn on your plan even at the riskof getting some votes tonight.
Right. She's just in a predicament,though, right?
I yeah, I guess she just didn'ttrust them, but I could not believe it.

(16:03):
I was screaming at the TV tonight,
so dude, I'm like,no, he's trying to help you for real.
But what does Logan have to loseby going with them?
Right? I mean, there's no votes on her.
Oh. With Miles.
Yeah, yeah, I guess she's mad at him.
All right, so I can think of.
I think she feels thatthere's still something
salvageable between herand the rest of the women on the tribe.

(16:26):
Or she knows thatMiles doesn't want to work with her.
But I think this is the way forward.
You know, if someone's offering you a planand you get to another Holly.
Yeah.
As soon as Miles and Paulie go out,
Logan's going to be right backon the chopping block.
I think she should have kind oftaken this chance.
But Logan tells Kristen the plan, and then Kristen kind of

(16:47):
has this crazy reaction where she runs upto Paulie and says, you know,
what have you heard tonight?
And gets upset when he doesn't tell her?
I was like,oh, come on, you can tell Paulie anything.
Why should he have to tell you something?
And she's genuinely upset. Yes.
She made a comment that was like,This is Paulie's chance to earn back my

(17:07):
trust.
And I'm thinking to myself, well,if you're gone tomorrow,
what does it matter to Paulieif he has your chance?
You know, likehe has no advantage to helping Kristen out
at this point in the gameif he's planning to turn on her.
Well, especially because
she has been voting him, voting for himover and over again.
She has never showed Pauliethat she wants him in the game, right?

(17:30):
She keeps voting with themto get rid of them.
And she I remember in past episodeshe's laughing about Paulie, so.
Yeah, I don't understand that.
Well,
Paulie is also havinga bit of an emotional time this episode.
He is saying that he is absolutely sickof seeing his name,
and then if they want to split, they can split on someone else
and he is going up to individualsand saying,

(17:50):
do not put my name down, you can change it.
They're all saying, well, someone'sgoing to vote. For you, I earned.
This, don't let it happen.
I see his point, right?
Because he knows that Miles has an idoland he knows
we're going to be a split voteand he knows he's to split.
So if he can get everyone to vote onsomebody else for the split, right, miles?
And who cares who else, then he knows he'll be.
He'll be safe. That's my thinking, right? Yeah.

(18:10):
He just panicked, I think he.
Oh my gosh, I'm going to be the onebecause Miles claims he has an idol.
Right? Yeah, I understand that.
He doesn't want to hear his name come out.
He knows there's an idol, but his way about it was interesting.
Yeah, rival. Aggressive. Was right.
I think it was just tired.
Yeah.
You look at someone like Milesand Miles is pitching other plans.

(18:33):
Paulie is just saying, don't vote for me to be me, right.
But he needs to be sayinginstead of writing my name down,
let's split it on Logan or let'ssplit it on Kristen or whoever he wants.
He needs to be pitching a new plan.
And for that. Reason. Right. Exactly.Yeah.
So I think that was a little bitof his downfall at this point in the game.
So then we go to tribaland there's a lot of talk.

(18:54):
I felt like it is kind of a long tribal.
Yeah.
Nothing huge really came out at tribal.
At least for me.
No, we saw same with me.
Guess one interesting pointwas that we saw Cochran whispering
to AJ, kind of confirming his vote, and he says he is voting for Miles.
And he did. Right.
Oh I saw that.

(19:14):
I thought, I thought it was just a lie.
But he really did do it. Yeah.
Well he had to. And then that way
Kate Kateknows that he voted with them right.
Yeah I said so tomorrow he can,he can say, you know, I was with you guys.
I'm just as shocked as you arethat Miles is still right.
I had no idea.
I was so upset that Polly went homebecause I don't understand

(19:37):
why Polly and Logan voted for each other.
Why didn't they just vote for Chris or,Kristen?
Right?
Heidi. Yeah. So I don't know. Yeah.
We saw we saw Miles play his idolfor himself, which I was very happy.
Yes, because I was worriedthat he was going to get a little
too confident and he was going to say,oh, I have these big plans.

(19:58):
I don't even need my idol.
But thankfully he played itand it was well worth it.
I mean, it's just every episode.
Jonathan is upthere, does not count, does not.
Right.
And so he needs like a button to press.
He is like he's like the idol king, right?
King of the ratsand king of the idols, right? Right.
Yeah.
So Myles does an excellent jobwith another amazing idol play.

(20:20):
And wesee all these roads go out for miles.
You see one for Logan, just one for Kristen.
And then it looks like three for Polly.
Sending Polly hometo be the second member of the jury. So.
So what else was too bad?
If they would have stuckto the Kristen plan
low, Polly would still be there.
So he had three votes and Kristen had oneand Logan had one.

(20:42):
Is that right?
So yeah. So for Polly would have.
Yeah.
If Polly would have taken his one vote
on Logan to Kristen, that would've been two on Kristen
if Logan had taken her one on Pollyand put it on Kristen, then it would have
been three on Kristen, two on Pollysending Kristen home and saving Polly.
Yeah, so that really would have beena good move, I think.
I don't understand it.

(21:03):
Why didn't they trust Miles and Polly?
Why didn't Polly trust Miles?
I think Polly was just nervousthat the split.
I guess you didn't knowwhere the split was going to go, right?
He was running around convincing everyoneto not put his name down.
So he might be thinkingmaybe the splits on Logan.
Like, half on Logan, half on Polly.
I don't know what exactly he was thinking.

(21:23):
Well, I wish they wouldn'tguess it wasn't the miles.
But there wasthere was no indication of that.
With all the talking back at campthat anyone was going to vote for Logan
other than Polly.
Yeah.
Yeah, well.
I'm just thinking for Logan.
She voted for Polly and not for Kristen.
And she's going to get back to tribalor back to camp

(21:44):
and everyone'sstill going to be focused on Miles.
And as soon as Miles is out, she's the next enemy.
It's been Polly and Logan.
As you know, Public Enemies wanted to fora long time, and now she's the only one.
There's nowhere to hide.
So I think she really messed yourself upby sending Polly home. Yes.
And not changing the game.
And let's give Polly a great clap.

(22:05):
He did a great job.
Look at what he did.
What did he say? 53 minutes on that poll?
He was.
He kept trying to stay in there.
And he did vote after vote.
He was still there.
And I give him a lot of credit for,how he played.
Congratulations.
Now, Miles. Yeah.
The next episode for Milesfinds an idol. Do you think.

(22:26):
He better watch the game?
He knows that there will beanother one out there, right?
And he knows he needs it.
Will he get up earlyand beat everybody to it?
Or somehow it just find it magically?
I hope that would be great.
Oh, yeah, I know it is your man.
I forgot that's who you.
I mean, yeah, the first episode.

(22:47):
Right? Yeah, that's who I picked.
But will other peopleonly look for an idol?
Because Miles is looking.
Well, anyone else have the ideaof even going out and looking at it?
It seems so often that people just don'teven think about right?
Right.
And they just see that someone's lookingand I go, I don't want.
Miles thinking about it. Oh, I know, yeah.
I mean, Logan and Polly both shouldhave been looking for idols all day today.

(23:09):
Yeah, and at the Baron camp, they could have been looking.
I'm sure there was one.
Well, maybe not, but, you know, there'sa chance one could have been at the Baron.
Tribe, right?
Why not?
If you're Polly and you know thateveryone's going to vote for you.
Yeah, they've already voted for you, right?
Yeah.
I don't know who knows what, how it works.
Well, it was sad to see Polly go.
He was a fun player.

(23:30):
He really put his heart into the game.
But I'm
happy that he will have a sayon the end of the game at the jury.
Oh, we'll see what happens. Oh, yeah.
Talking about that Laura looked great, didn't she?
Like, so pretty. Yeah yeah. Yeah.
Two days in a row.
It's just so nice to see her, you know?
Again, I'm glad that she's on the juryalso. So. Yeah.

(23:52):
Who knows what Pollywill be wearing tomorrow night.
We'll have to see.
But it'll be exciting on the final episodewhen Polly gets to say something. Yes.
Yeah. So he's.
He's got a lot of time to think about it.
Sure, sure.
Well, thanks for joining usand we will see you tomorrow night
to further discuss the rest of the juryand how Polly looks tomorrow.

(24:13):
