(00:00):
Hello and welcome to Americans TalkAustralian survivor I'm.
(00:03):
Rachel, I'm Leah. And I'm Matt.
Thanks for joining us.
We just watched episode 21 of AustralianSurvivor brains versus brawn two.
And there will be spoilers ahead.
We open up the night of Tribal Council, where Kristen
has just gone home, and we are down to the final six. Wow.
That's something. It's the final fourright there.
Yeah, the postgraduates are saying
(00:24):
they've already made it to the Final Four, right?
They're so excited thattheir alliance has held up to this point.
They are rock solid.
And they have already plannedtheir next vote.
Zahra is targeting Cate.
She said she wants Cate out firstbefore Morgan.
Myles has some other thoughts though.
He said that, they may be the final fouror maybe he'll break the alliance.
He's still deciding, right?
(00:45):
Yeah. I don't I don't believe that he can.
He can stick to it.
I don't know. It'sgoing to be tough for him.
We know that Myles the king of the Junglerats, likes to mix things up.
So will you stay solid for another twovotes?
Well, see.
I know it's good for the game, but I dowish Myles would just stay with the four.
Well then we open up onto day 42.
(01:06):
And AJ is noting that there'sa lot of paranoia around camp.
He's thinks particularlyCaitlyn is paranoid because Caitlyn is
a major threat to everyone.
And so that's that doesseem to be the case.
Right.
And then Myles approachesMorgan and suggests voting out Caitlyn.
Yeah.
So Myles thinks that everyone thinksthat they can beat Caitlyn.
(01:31):
So Myles thinks that he can be Caitlynat final two.
He thinks AJ can be Caitlynsorry can be killing.
So he thinks that Caitlyn is the threat
between Myles going to final twoand someone else.
I don't understand.
Why don't they think that he keepswinning.
Caitlyn keeps winningthese immunity challenges.
Why isn't that as valuedas everything else?
(01:53):
I guess because of his social game.
He's not that social anymore. He doesn't.
I think he's friends with everybody,but I don't think he's outgoing enough.
And I also think AJ and Myles, they areso still she suggests strategic. Yes.
And they're thinking I mean likeI mean that was part of the promo too.
I mean they really are veryvery good players.
(02:13):
So I guess people will look at themand say
oh they're really playing the game right?Yeah.
I mean, the tenets of the game are thatyou have to outwit, outlast and outplay.
And has Caitlyn really outwittedeveryone he's outplayed in terms of that?
Lasted.
Is outlasted if he gets to the final two.
But the witI feel like he's really lacking.
I think he's very smart, but I don't knowthat he's shown that in the game.
(02:37):
And what about AJ?
Well,he have enough that he can really show
that he has done because he keeps thinkingthat plays are happening
because of him, but he's pushing peopleto do things without getting the credit.
I think AJ is very, very well respectedin the game and I think people do know
since I've been talking to himthat he is really playing the game.
So I think he's he's just fine.
(02:58):
Yeah, I think that the only personthat could probably be AJ at the final
two would be Myles.
I think that AJ would win up against Kate.
Kaitlynmaybe Zara, definitely against Morgan.
So I don't know. Yeah.
So I think Mylesa lot of people don't like him.
So I think if it's Myles AJ peoplelike AJ better than Myles
(03:21):
I mean yeah that's what I think.
But I'm rooting for Zara at this pointI don't know I'll out there I like Zara
I wasn't such
a fan of hers in the beginning, but I like how she's sticking to her guns.
She knows what she wantsand she's telling,
the males, this is what I wantand this is how I want to do it.
So I look forward to seeing Mylesand AJ having a talk at the end
(03:43):
in front of everybody, explaining whythey played the best game I would like.
I would enjoy seeing that.I agree with you.
Yeah, I agreethat would be the best case scenario.
Final two for a viewer standpoint, but I don't think either of them
want to bring each other to the end.
Correct.
They know not to bring each other.
Well.
AJ is already working on thatby trying to group in Morgan
(04:07):
to say, well, you know, if Kaitlyn losesimmunity today, let's just take him out.
Myles was saying that.
Myles is saying thatand then AJ seems also wise.
Everyone wants Kaitlyn.Oh yeah you're right.
Everyone does want Kaitlyn.Everyone's on the same page.
So that always sets you up to suspect
that maybe Kaitlyn has a pretty good shottoday.
And immunity.
it seems like evenZara thinks that Kaitlyn needs to go home.
(04:29):
So then we make it to the immunitychallenge.
This game, they have to collect threeballs from the ocean, and on the beach.
And then they have to push them upthis obstacle course ramp sort of thing.
And it looks pretty difficult.
So we get.
Started sort of with a gigantic plungerkind of thing.
Yeah. We get started in jail in the water.
We don't see that too often.
(04:50):
No, he got his feet wet.
I think AJ said something about that.
Right. Okay.
And then I thought it was funnybecause right off the bat,
Kaitlyn swimming and Jonathan says, like a dolphin.
Swimming like a dolphin.
He always seems to think that, Kaitlyn is great.
I mean, you have to hand it to him.
He can do the endurance challenges,He is great at the swimming challenges.
(05:12):
And we could see he was far and awaythe leader in this challenge.
By getting the three balls.
He was the first one at the endpoint of the challenge.
Eventually, everyone else catches up and we still see
Caitlin doing really well, pushing his balls up the ramp.
So I was watching the episodewith a friend, and she commented that
the challenge seems too easy at this pointof the game, that it should be it.
(05:36):
It didn't really seem like, you know, the final six.
This is a kind of a challengefor the Final Six.
Well, it seemed like the obstaclecourse was very difficult.
But my question about watching this,we have Miles and we have Caitlin.
There is no one else in this challenge.
What is going on with the other players?
I think it really just shows youhow big of a challenge Beast Caitlin is.
(05:59):
But every challenge is always downto the end of it as like the final two.
He's out in the lead. But do you think the others just give up?
I mean, it just doesn't make sense.
Another survivor shows we have never seen
somebody pull out this far ahead, andeveryone is make up on Miles and Caitlin.
That's only two of their playing.
I mean, there. Should be somebodygiving him a challenge.
(06:21):
Well, everyone else was playingthat we could see them, you know, trying
and dropping their ballsover and over again.
I think that it was just really difficult.
You know,
I think that especially it's been 42 dayswithout real food, without sleep.
I think it would be challenging for anyoneto do all of this.
And somehow
Miles is able to block out the noiseand Caitlin is just good at challenges.
(06:42):
Yes, I think that's really good.
What you just said. Block out the noise.
Because we see JLP saying oh a disaster.
Everything's a disasterwhen one person drops, right.
Yeah. It has to be very hardto play the game when.
You think you're about to win.
And yeah he makes a comment.
Yeah that has to be very difficult.
But Caitlin wins.
Yeah.
It was really neckand neck there for a minute.
(07:04):
It was two and both Milesand Caitlin had two out
of their three balls in the basket, and it was so close.
It looked likethey were like an inch apart on the ramp.
And Caitlin pulls it outand is victorious, setting the record
for six straight immunitywith six immunity wins.
Very good. Right? Congratulations.
I was wondering why meiosisdidn't give it a shove right at the end.
(07:26):
You know, if he knew that Caitlinwas that far away, just give it a yeah.
You know, push, right?
Yeah.I mean, if it falls down I don't know.
Well, hopefully it was exciting for milesbecause we know that he can pull out
any record number, you know, off the top of his head.
So he was there to witness this one.
That's got to be fun.
Throughout the show we have seenthat he can do hold his own in challenges.
(07:49):
Correct? Yeah.
He doesn't look like he would be someonewho could hold his own, but he does.
He time after time,he really does a good job.
Well, unfortunately for Mylesnow his plan is out the window.
Right. Get Caitlin out.
Yeah.
So now everyone's kind of scramblingand it's, a different look.
So it looks like nowit's just going to be between
(08:09):
Kate and Morganas the two options to go home.
So AJ, however, sees Morgan as a threat,
which is probably the first time
in the gamethat she's been seen as a threat to her.
AJ brings up a really good point thatMorgan is, like the Billy goat, right?
She's just being dragged to the end, moreor less at this point.
So he's saying, if anyone says this game,it's only final two.
(08:34):
It's not going to be final three.
So that I thinkreally changes the strategy,
because anyone who has the opportunityto take someone as their
final two player is going to take Morganbecause they know they can beat her.
So it'skeeping AJ out of a potential final two.
Oh I understand now okay. Right.
So let's let's get rid of it.
And that was going to make the gamemore challenging.
(08:55):
If we get rid of the one that everyone'sgoing to take.
Yeah. So I think. Player.
H is thinking aheadI feel like that's a good point.
I was not thinking about thatat that point, but when AJ explained it,
it made sense to me that he really doesneed to get Morgan out.
Right.
And they they plan on oh,they plan on doing A22 split.
So there'd be two voteson three different people and then revote
and then either vote for Morgan or Kate.
(09:18):
But Hagar has a soft spot for Cape Town.
Right away he goes to Kate to tell himwhat to talk to her about the plan?
Yeah, and so he's really givingKate an opportunity to save herself.
He says, listen, it'sgoing to be two votes on you,
two votes on Morgan, and I'm not supposed to save Morgan.
But if you were to vote for her, then I don't betray my alliance.
(09:39):
And then you get to say
another day, and Morgan goes home and Katesays, oh, I can't do that, right?
Right. Yeah.
So we see this all the time that peopledon't want to vote out their number one.
And obviously they've,you know, been together for 42 days.
They have this really great relationship.
But I'm thinking, okay, it'seither you vote out your friend,
you stay in the game, you've got to do it.
(09:59):
And then you go to the juryand you say, look, I made this big move.
I sent my best friend homebecause I wanted to sit right here.
And, you know, none of you guys did thator whatever, right?
And and AJ, once again,is trying to get someone else to do a move
right to his advantage.
Well,he says the puppet master, right, right.
Doesn't he say that?
And then AJ goes and speaks with, Kaitlynand he says he's trying to say
(10:24):
Myles wants, you know, Morgan out, blah, blah, blah.
And then, it's funny becausethen he's saying, so we should keep Kate.
And Kaitlyn says, well, I want Kate to go.
Yeah.
So AJ saying, you know, everyonewants Kate, but we really need to get out.
Morganand Kaitlyn is kind of in the middle.
It looks likehe could have some power in this vote,
(10:45):
because he's not totally convincedthat either one has to go.
Really?
Kaitlyn though, his big weakness isthat Myles is targeting him,
and AJ picks up on this and says, you know Myles is targeting you,
so you want to weaken Myles by getting outMorgan instead of getting out.
You know Myles is voting.
(11:05):
So I think AJ does a really good job oflike pitching exactly who he wants.
I think he's he's really workingall angles on this this.
One because he's he's thinking it through.
He's thinking how can I get someone elseto to do my dirty work right.
Right.
To their advantageand most importantly, to my advantage?
I think it was funnybecause in that little sound bite,
he says he's not sureif Myles is really thinking
(11:27):
about getting Kaitlyn out,but he wanted to throw that out there.
But we all knowMyles really is thinking about that.
So AJ was right on spot.
He thinks ahead. Yeah.
And he's planning everyone's gamein his head instead of just his own game.
I really goes to show youhow great of a survivor player
AJ is that he's able to say well you knowMyles should be thinking about okay.
(11:48):
So I'll just tell you what's happening.
And then, another great part of the episode was
when Kaitlyn goes up to Zaraand kind of tells her about AJ's idea
to get out Morgan and she says, nope, absolutely not.
Don't even consider it.
We're getting outgate. And let's go. Right?
That's how I love Zara.
Yeah, yeah, like I said,
I wasn't such a big fan before, but the way she acted today.
(12:10):
Excellent. Good job.
I think in the beginning of the gameit was kind of like Zara,
you can't, you know, be the dictatorbecause it's a group.
You've got to go with what people want.
But at this stage it's final six.
You just have to put your foot downand say, nope, not happening.
We're voting out Kate and that's that.
Yes, she's upsetthat Kate never goes. Yeah.
So then we get to the point of the episode
(12:32):
on our episode where we hit, itseems like every single week where we say,
why aren't Kate and Morganlooking for idols?
And yet again we see Morgan'staking a nap on the hammock.
Kate is at least talking to people, but no one is looking for an idol.
I don't understand, I mean, there's got to be one out there, right?
It's worth looking.
For, right?
At least do something insteadof taking a nap on the hammock right?
(12:54):
So then we see over on the hammock.
Speaking of which, Morgan, has Kate approached her
and says, you know, you have to vote me out
because I want you to win,not one of the brains.
And so Morgan'skind of self-sacrificing at this point,
which it's not quitting the game, but I still don't like it.
I think thatshe should be fighting for her life.
(13:15):
She should be looking for an idolto save them both.
Or, you know, it's somethingI wish that her strategy was not to
kind of fall on her sword for her friendKate.
It would have changed up the game
so much to this episodeif one of them had found an idol.
Yeah, right.
Well,instead of I mean, I understand crying
because they're very good friendsand this has to be extremely difficult.
(13:35):
You're so closeand you have no choice in the matter.
You have no control.
These other peopleare in control of your game.
But like you said, go look for an idol.
At least try.
And then the other people, they don't know if there's an idol
and maybe they think you have an idol,so they're not going to vote for you
because they do.
They're doing the 2 to 2 splitin case of an idol.
(13:57):
Yeah. So I don't know.
But I do think this, showcaseshow good of a player Kate is because at
this point, Morgan has just said, you have to vote me out, and that's that.
I'm going home. Whatever.Back to that map.
But Kate says, no, let's get Miles out.
And she says, you know what? Let's gotalk to people about it.
And I think we even heardMorgan said, oh, I'll go with you.
(14:18):
And then the next shotwe see Kate dodging without Morgan.
So I don't know what happened to Morganwhere she got lost in the conversation.
Thank you. Rachel, we should be givingKate more credit. You're right.
Kate, we see we dosee her time after time, not letting go.
He's not letting go.She uses her social skills.
And at this point, she's talking to Kaitlyn
and she puts it says again that Mylesis going to try to get rid of you.
(14:40):
So now at this to Kaitlyn and now Kate.
Yeah.
Because I mean Kit was just served up on a silver platter,
an invitation to vote out her number oneand to stay in the game
until the final five.
No questions asked.
Basically. Right.
Like everyoneis basically going to support that plan.
And Kate is the only one sayingno, let's save Morgan
(15:00):
and let's get someone else out.
So it really is.
She's really driving this whole narrative.
So that's, I think shows a lot
about her gaming abilityto not just take the easiest route.
She's really thinking about, how can I save myself and my friends.
Good job. You're right. Good job Kate.
So she is trying to convince Kaitlynand she might be thinking about it.
(15:21):
Might not.
I mean, it really does seem like Kaitlynis going to be targeted by Myles next.
So I'm thinking for Kaitlyn's game,it's really not a bad idea
to target Myles tonight. So now we're off to tribal.
So at tribal we're talking abouthow Kaitlyn is the challenge beast.
And Myles makes a comment
that it's a little bit inconvenient forpeople who may want to get Kaitlyn out.
(15:41):
Yeah yeah I mean.
Myles later on in the game right.
Yeah I mean I don't even say that. Why.
But why bring that up?
I don't know it was just crazy.
It doesn't win.
Someone can take a swing at him
and I who knows what Kaitlynwas really looking at.
But Kaitlyn looked likehe was looking at Myles, right?
Yeah.
So Myles is not playingtoo subtle of a game at this point.
(16:05):
So we're all sitting there thinking,oh my gosh, what's Kaitlyn going to do.
Is he going to get him out.
Yeah we don't know.
But I would like to say that
Morgan says to JonathanI slept on the hammock all afternoon.
I mean, come on, you said it.
It was interestingthat they kept bringing up
that there aren't many moves left, very few moves left in the game, I guess.
But you could still make some good moves,I think.
(16:27):
Yeah.
Kate's really marketing herself
by saying there is not a lot of moves leftand I'm your opportunity.
If I'm gone, you cannot make a move.
You've got to do it now.
So I think that Kate's really moreso just selling herself than trying to
convince anyone to make a big move. She's just trying to save herself.
Well, she's doing a good job. Should. Yeah.
But then Jonathan always.
(16:48):
He says there's a twist, right?
Always something up his sleeve. Yeah.
And we are going to another immunitychallenge.
Oh my. Gosh. Come on.
So I think we've seen thisand a couple seasons
before where they have like this nighttime
immunity challengeand there's two immunity necklaces.
And it always seems to be towardsthe end of the game.
But I do think it's quite interesting
that all episode we're saying,oh, shoot, you know, Kaitlyn got it again.
(17:12):
And now, they're saving someone elseother than Kaitlyn
because he's won it so many times.
Let's get someone elseto turn out the immunity necklace.
So it's kind of like here.
Everybody, minus Kaitlyn, can try for immunity.
Yeah. So then we go out to the woods.
For some reason, the jury can't come and watch.
I feel like if there's an idolor immunity challenge at tribal,
they should get to watch tribal.
(17:34):
It seems like they should havejust had it right there.
Like, figured out some way to bring it outright in front of them.
Yeah, or some seats for them.
Let them move over and watch it. Yeah.I mean, what's the jury, Joe?
There's just any tribe over 45 minutesplus setup time, right?
So is probably two hoursby the time they moved over there
and figured out the game. And. Yeah.
So the challenge issomething we've seen before
(17:56):
where you have to walk on the balancebeam, you've got to balance your table
and you do a house of cards up to,you know, a certain point or
whoever is at the highest pointafter 45 minutes wins.
So that's interesting
because it means that you have tothink about when is your tower dropping,
and are you going to be able to rebuild itin time to hit the 45 minute mark?
The crew didn't want to be going into 3a.m., right?
(18:18):
Yeah.
I mean, someone has to go homebut still dark out, right?
You can't go into tribal councilin the morning.
The sun is risingand there someone out, right?
So right away, when we were watching,we said, okay,
it's going to be good at this.
We've seen her do it before where shebalances the rope and does all of that.
It's very good at this.
And so it looks.
Good at concentrating. Yeah. And bouncing.
(18:41):
So right away we see it's miles versus K2.
And you know it's lookinglike they're both doing really well.
They're really steady.
And all of a sudden Miles dropsand we say okay that's it.
It's Kate's game you know challenge over.
But then Kate drops.
Oh and then Morgan drops and AJ drops.
And the only person to not drop is Zara.
So Zara is very very slowand steady in every challenge we've seen,
(19:03):
especially today.
Yeah.
Yes I believe when they did it similarchallenge to this, she was the same way.
She never dropped. She was slow and steady.
I don't think she won before, but she wasstill the only one who didn't drop.
But so now somehow Kate comes backlike no one's business.
Did you see that? It's Kate and Zara.
I think what helped Kateis that when her tower fell,
(19:26):
she didn'tdrop her rope like a lot of people did.
She kept her rope tight so that a lot ofthe pieces just fell on the plank.
And she was allowed to rebuild themif they didn't touch the floor.
So you don't have to take her back,Morgan.
Just let go of her ropeand everything dropped to the ground.
Yeah, and I think Miles. Milesmay have just fallen on the ground.
I think whether or nothe had dropped the rope
either way,he would have had to restart. But.
(19:46):
So that really gave Kate a huge advantage.
So once again, Kate is thinking,I guess, right,
because she didn't let go of her rope.
Yeah. So good job again Kate.
So now it comes down to Kate and Zara.
They both have really high towers, and it looks like
neither of them are going to quite make itbecause we're approaching 45 minutes.
So it's going to bewho has the tallest one after 45 minutes.
(20:06):
And it looks I mean, I know Jonathan
always says it's neck and neck, but that looked exactly equal.
It was so close a standstill.
And then they stood there. And then yeah, they stood there for a while.
And then Sarah dropped one.
Somehow her top piece movedand it fell down.
That was really two bags.
I wonder what would have happenedif it was a tie
because it looked like they were equal.
(20:27):
I wonder what would have I don't know,
maybe they would have given theman extra minute.
Yeah.
Or just to have everybody sit down
and those two just have 15 minutesto see who's the tallest after 15 minutes.
Yeah.
Well congratulations to Katebecause Kate one.
And she. Needed it.
Yeah. Did wow.
Did she do a good job for herself.
Yeah.
So congratulations Kate
(20:47):
on being the second individual immunitywinner of the episode.
So then we're back at tribalfor the second time in this episode.
And I'm thinking, so Caitlyn is safe.
Kate is safe.
That means only four players are eligibleto go home.
Is Myles going to be thinking,do I need my idol?
He was not.
Just seemed like he wasn't.
Thinking at all. No, not that way.
(21:08):
No. But I wasI was wondering that would have been good
if he had thought about, you know, odds ratio.
Maybe I should play it. He'sconfident in his alliance.
And then Kate is still, trying to win.
Right? So she is talking to Zara?
Yeah, she whispers over to Zara.
You know, is there anyone you want to gohome and is not really saying anything?
We're just kind of like, well, you know, are you guys doing the same vote?
(21:30):
And it's making it seem like Zaramaybe considering Myles.
And then, they kept showing Caitlyn turning.
So like I'm thinking in his eyes were, you know like very concentrated.
And I thought is hethinking he's going to vote for Myles.
Is he looking at Zara sayingare you going to vote for Myles.
Well then it is time to vote.
And of courseboth Myles and Morgan start with an M
(21:52):
so that was kind of fun to see everyoneright.
The arrogancelike oh is it going to be okay.
So then it comes down towe see two votes for miles
and we see two votes for Morgan.
We're thinking this is it.
Who you know, is it going to beanother tie where it's going to happen.
And it turns out the, postgraduates
stick togetheras a solid for sending Morgan home.
As they said from the beginning of theepisode, one of those two has to go home.
(22:16):
And it happened.
So congratulations, Kate, for winning that last immunity necklace,
because I wonder what would have happenedif she hadn't had it.
It could have been her.
It really, really could have goneeither way.
So it's interesting because she showed herinner self, like you said,
she wasn't going to go with the planand vote her best friend.
She made a decision. She didn't want to do that.
(22:37):
And then when there wasan opportunity to win
and she didn't have to beput in that position, she won.
She did it. So good job, Kate.
And she didn't vote for her friend? No.
So it worked out right.
So she can still go to the final saying,I did not vote my number one.
Right.
And then next time, if Kate wins immunity,
(22:57):
then it's going to be a real challenge.Oh, yeah. Yeah.
So I remember, I thinkwhen we did our middle of the season
or like our merge predictionson who the winner was, I think I picked
Kate and I don't know, she's looking like a good player.
I will you will seeshe has a lot of friends on the jury
I think more so than Myles or AJ,because Myles and AJ have really burned
(23:17):
quite a few people and Kate has not.
Yeah, they're not going on friendship, they're going on gameplay.
Yeah. Getting it getting there right.
Surviving because Myles somehow survived.
Yeah.
Well another surprise of the episodewas that we didn't see any clip of Morgan
talking about the end of the game.
So I typically we see,you know, a little post exit interview
(23:38):
and we didn't see that.
So if anyone knows why, let us know.
I did she say something?
Did she not have anything to say?
Maybe she said,I don't want to say anything.
She didn't seem upset, you know. Yeah.
So I don't know what happened.
Very odd.
I feel like
I don't know if we've ever seenthat happen
where someone just doesn'tprovide the exit interview.
Maybe it has, I don't know, but it's rare.
(23:59):
Yeah.
So if you have any ideas of what happenedthere, let us know.
I'm curious, but we are very excitedthat we finally reached the final five.
I think that's a great final five.
We've been talking all seasonabout AJ and Myles really being strategic.
Kate is obviously you knowwe've been talking about her all episode.
She's really playing the game.
Kaitlyn's playing a great physical gameand Zara was making a lot of moves
(24:22):
at the beginning and is still, you know, the last girl of the brain standing.
