(00:00):
Hello and welcome to Americans TalkAustralian survivor I'm Rachel.
I'm Leah. And I'm Matt.
Thanks for joining us.
We just watched episode six of AustralianSurvivor brains versus brawn two.
And there will be spoilers ahead.
We open up on Richjoining the brawn tribe.
And so last nighthe was voted by the brains tribe
(00:20):
to switch on over to the brawn.
He seems to be having a blast.
Right off the bat, I'm disappointed.
I wanted to see himcome creeping in at night and saying,
hey, I'm here, everybody. And they'd all go, what do you mean?
We're sleeping. It's the middle of the night.
What are you doing? Joining our tribe.
And then he would say,I had the opportunity to get voted out.
And I volunteered to come over.
(00:42):
And aren't we all happy that I'm here?
But instead, they're all just sitting around
like he's been there for a couple of days.
I was disappointed to see that.
So they didn't show you the night time?
Yeah.
And I'm always excited to see thatthe person come in and see how they're
greeted, you know, do they get move overand give the person the space to sleep or.
Well, we heard Rich himselfsaid that they were the nicest people.
He loved the shelter.
(01:03):
He is just as happy as can be. But.
Noonan, it would be nice to see that.
I'm just saying he
he could just be saying thatbecause he's he's
got to say the right things to fitin. Right.
Maybe. But, Rachel, what do you think?
I thought this was funny. Noonan said.
Rich feels like a new shiny toythat we all get to play with.
That is not how I feel.
(01:24):
So I thought that was funny.
Rich is having a much better timethan everyone else's.
They are all very suspicious.
They don't know.
Is he going to be going back to the gamestribe and a vote or two?
We've seen that happenplenty of times on prior
seasons of survivor,so they're kind of thinking ahead.
You know, is he a double agent?
(01:46):
Is he just coming over for a night? Right.
But no point says that he's here to stay.
But Noonan says, you know what?
We're just going to get rid of themfirst off.
And Kristen brings up a good point.
She said make sure we sit him
out of the immunity challengebecause he might try to throw it.
Yeah, that was a great idea.
I actually catch that. Excellentthinking. Yeah.
And then he said, oh,I'm just living it up here, brother.
(02:07):
Yeah, that was funny.
You know, I live here now,
right?
Interesting that we didn't see himmentioned who he wanted to work with.
He just seems to be having a great timewith everyone.
And I didn't see him stealing anyone
for individual chatsor kind of making any allies.
And I wonder if it's because the Brontribe hasn't been to tribal in so long
(02:29):
that they're just not evenhaving those chats.
Or if Rich just isn'tbeing invited to them.
And we only kind of saw him inlarge group settings.
Yeah, well, he kind ofwas like that on the brains, team.
Right. He just was always having fun.
That was one of the chief complaintsthat he was just fooling around too much.
It wasn't very. Strategic.
(02:49):
Yeah, yeah.
It could just be how he plays the game.
Well, we look on over to the brains tribe
and see that they are quite calmwithout rich.
But Khan is madthat he is still in the game.
She wanted him out and is disappointedthat he's still actively playing survivor.
I think he's going to come backto, you know, be a pest.
(03:11):
That's what I think.
You know, it's leading up to that.I feel like.
Yeah, I don't think we're done with himyet. Right.
But Khan wants to make some changes, thatshe wants to play with logical players.
And she's hoping to workwith Myles, Sara and
AJ and says that it'sgoing to be the end of the coven.
That's too bad.
I mean, but they haven't been gettingalong very well lately, so I understand.
(03:35):
On theflip side, Laura is talking to Logan.
Logandoesn't want to work with Zara anymore,
but Laura said something interesting.
She said that they reallycould not have done anything differently.
Even though she's sensingthat the coven alliance
is very fragile at the moment, that there's a lot of tension.
I'm very surprised by how Laura's playing.
She really doesn'tsee anything wrong with what she's done.
(03:58):
I don't think she's necessarily doneanything wrong.
I do think that there could have beendifferent
conversations, had to kind of easetensions a little bit differently.
And I'm surprised that Logan and Lauraseem to think that they're doing
a really excellent job with, you know, no notes at all.
Right.
And Logan's big goal is to get rid of AJ.
(04:19):
That seems to be her.Yes, yes. Once again.
Number one goal.
Yeah.
We hear Kayla and MaxLogan and Laura talk about targeting AJ.
And that kind of leaves me thinkingWhere's Ali in all of this.
We see the and split up
with Karen and Zara and one side,Laura and Logan on the other.
And then or Ali is just kind ofin the middle, right.
We don't really see herhaving a lot of chats.
(04:42):
I don't really seeany reason to get rid of AJ.
He seems.
I mean, did he do something? Yes.
She was mad at him.
I believe he wrote down her name, right?
No, he suggested Logan.
That's right. It's never written down.
But he suggested itto how we got back to Logan.
Yes. Okay. And she hadn't gotten over it. Right.
But other than that,he seems like a nice guy.
(05:03):
She seems to be helping out the tribephysically for sure.
Right.
Which leads usover to the reward challenge.
Rich walks in
with the brawn tribe, and he says that he is at home already.
He's having a great.
Time, and he's carrying the flag and.
Loving with the shelter.
Sleeping up off the ground.
He seemed very happy. Yes.
(05:25):
So it's time to get into the challenge.
They're doing sumo style, wrestling sort of one on one,
trying to get the opposite tribe member, opposite team, into the water first.
And so they have this paddingto kind of push them to the side with.
So it's not quite as aggressiveas we've seen in the past, but
it's still pretty physical. Yes.
(05:47):
So you see the brawn pull out right away.
Polly gets out miles pretty quickly.
Noonan gets out Allie very quickly, and then the pair of of the century.
Yeah, Ursula and Karen go up together,
and it's, over 20 minutes that they're up.
They're trying to push each other over.
After ten minutes.I couldn't believe it when he said it.
(06:07):
Ten minutes have passed.
I'm like,that's just that's just crazy, right?
Letting it go on that. Longwhile Jonathan said.
Two very strong women, which I thought was interesting.
And then, another interesting thing was that
Karen told Ursula, don't trust the rich.
Right?
So she was using her 20 minutes up there.
She was not just hanging out.
(06:29):
So I thought that was a unique move.
So Karen'skind of making ties with Ursula.
I wonder if she sees Ursula.
Someone she can work with.
Come merge or maybe tribe swap, right.
Or if she just really has that muchvengeance for Rich that he wants them out.
Well, she wants that.
But I think so.
Anyway, my my issue with the whole thing,
(06:51):
is, you know, you let them go ten minutesand then you let them go
20 minutes, and then you say it looks likewe're not getting anywhere.
It's a draw it either.
I think at after ten minutes you have tolet it keep going until someone wins.
Or they should just have a time, 20minutes seems too long for a draw to me.
Maybe I'm just nitpickingabout little rules here, but
(07:12):
it just seems like a crazy amount of timefor two people to be pushing
when some of the others only lastedlike ten seconds.
Maybe they just didn'tthink it was going to last that long.
I guess I'm not.
Yeah, I think they just didn'tknow what to do. Right?
But it was called the Epic Battle.
It was.
It was I mean, up.
Yes. It always seems like,
(07:32):
you know, when one tribe picks a personand then the opposite
tribe has to match up, it's, you know, are they going to be close?
And this was very close.
They have they're equally, talentedwith strength and agility.
And so it's good to see an equal pairing.
Yeah. All right.
So doctor.
So I mean she reallyI don't know if she has as much time
(07:53):
to work outas maybe Ursula and other people have.
So congratulations both to both of them.
But it was a great fight or push push.
So they gave the branda run for their money.
And JP said, you know what,we're not going 20 minutes again.
Now we're going to v two.
And so that was their solution to thisvery long drawn out round.
(08:17):
They said we'll just putmore people up on the board.
But you know what.
When it's two against two
and one person goes out the other personreally doesn't have a chance.
Right. Which we saw. Right.
So yeah.
So the brawn won pretty easily
after they got Karen down.
Or after Karen was called a draw.
(08:39):
They very quickly,
claimed the rewardand it was kind of funny.
Rich was the one who,
kind of knocked it out of the parkwith PD on that final round.
So he's really making a namefor the from tribe.
Very.
So they get back to their campfor their reward of Ikea comfort items.
(08:59):
They've got their pillows, their blankets,
and then they find outthere's even more surprises in there.
Right?
The letters from home, which
I found surprising that they didn't even, like, promote that, you know, like, hey,
you win this one and you'll get lettersfrom home like, it's just a nice surprise.
It was just a surprise.
Yeah, but it seemed too early to me in the game.
Didn't thinking the same thing.
(09:20):
Yeah, we haven't even been out theretwo weeks.
You know, it's about 12 days in.
I don't know,they've got a long way to go.
I feel like we normally start to seeletters from home around merge ish time.
But I guess they wanted to throwin an extra boost for the brawn tribe.
So for me personally, I'm sure it's very, very important to the players,
(09:43):
but as a viewer, I'mnot into seeing the letters from home.
What do you guys think?
I think it's nice.
I think I felt like not everybodygot to say something about their letter.
No. That doesn't seem fair to me.
Right.
You're watching the show at home, andthen you're like, oh, they didn't show me.
(10:03):
Reading the letter from, you know, my loved one.
That's disappointing.
I think you have to show everybodythat it was very nice,
what they did with Polly's.
Yeah. Polly. Yeah.
So Polly had that very emotional storyabout being bullied
as a child and then, you know, working outa relationship with his father.
(10:24):
It was.
It was a very nice way that they gotinto the feature about Polly. Yes.
Very nice. I agree.
Yeah.
I think that there's just
too many people on the tribeto be doing a little segment on everyone.
Ultimately, I find the letters from homea nice way to kind of get a peek
into the player's personal lives,
but at the end of the day,we're here for survivor.
(10:46):
We're here for the challengesand the scheming and the backstabbing.
So I think, a little,a little bit of the letters
is great,but I don't need to see everyone's letter.
It seems like we all have a critical issueabout today's episode, right?
Yeah.
All right.
What about the brains
now? So we see Michael and AJ talking, and they're pretty interested
(11:09):
in this group of four with Corrineand Zara.
Milessays that he doesn't want to play with Max
because he's too showy, and thinks that Max will be the next vote.
So they're planning to bring in Caitlyn.
And then this is pretty interesting.
Ali overhears this
and immediately runs that,
(11:31):
to to Max and tells himit was kind of weird.
She said she just walks up to Maxand goes, you know, you're the next vote,
right?
Oh, well, that's what she did to Miles two or AJ,
you know, she hears something and runs to people.
And I think that's interesting.
It must be the high school thingthat they're talking about, right?
I was just like, wow.
(11:52):
She doesn't hold back.
And understandably. Process.
Right. Happening.
Max gets very upset, but I call Miles a jungle rat.
Right. Ready for war.
I mean, he was really mad.
I mean, that is part of the game.So. Yeah.
But we've heard
I feel like we haven't heard very muchfrom Max up until this episode.
And then this episode, like, stars Max.I feel like.
(12:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Last episode, it seemed to star Rich.
And this one is all about Max.
That seem to focus on the individualskind of from time to time.
But he is, after all, after Jungle Rat.
That's what he mimes.
Shooting him with a gun is pretty intense, right?
It's just standing in the middleof the camp, letting his voice be known.
(12:37):
So I see what what Miles has to sayabout how
he thinks Max is a little bittoo shabby to play with.
I think he is right on with that.
I see why he was targeting Max.
But I think it's also kind of earlyto be getting out your strong players.
But anyway, we'll see what happens.
All right. And then we see. Right.
(12:57):
Yep. And so we see right away the brawnsit out rich.
So good job Kristen really thinking that
and so that means that the other playersare going to swim out, release a grid.
They bring it back, to land,
then they go backwards upthis pretty cool water slide.
They get their puzzle pieces, and thenthey have to put together their puzzle.
(13:21):
And the crazy thing
during this immunity challenge is Richis sitting on the side out
and he just keeps yelling, bomb squad, squad, I have an advantage.
Yeah. And and they're trying to do this.
They're trying to, you know, climb
up this ropeand another puzzle piece is an easy bomb.
But I'm thinking everyone can hear you.
(13:42):
This isn't even, like a secret right now.
So he's lucky that he was sittingon the side of the brain.
So not the brawn, right?
Otherwise, his messagewas trying to go through everyone.
Yes, but still the womenheard all this also.
Yeah.
So just kind of a weird way to announcethat he would like to stay strong
(14:03):
with the bomb squad.
But Rich is making an impact,on both sides.
So they get him still, and then it getskind of down to the puzzle.
So it's Logan and Miles
for brains versus Noonan.
And Morgan.
And and Morganfor the brawn and their. Own.
Kind of get to the standstill where no onereally knows the last couple of words.
(14:27):
It's so close. Yes.
Right. Very exciting challenge.
Okay, hold on one second.Let me just jump back a second.
Remember how Jesse flew up that thinglike he ran across there?
They lands on his back.
It seems like split up the thing, like,so fast.
It was like he was, like, running up the stairs.
But he's using his feet, his hands. That was just amazing.
That just how quickly he did it.
Sorry.
(14:47):
Okay, so we get to the puzzleand no one can figure out.
I was surprised that they didn'tfigure out the puzzle on the ground first
and then take all the pieces up thereand distribute them,
you know, instead of putting the
puzzle up there and then saying, well, one of the words must be immunity.
You know.
It seemed like much.
It took a lot of time putting him upthere. Right.
(15:07):
It's difficultcoming up with five words or
5 or 6 words they had to do.
It's a wonderif it's easier to get the input of the,
members of the tribe back on the mat
if they can see it better when it's up,I don't know, but you're right.
It does take a lot of extra time thatyou're not thinking about the letters.
Yeah.
(15:28):
And then climbing up there to, you know,it wasn't just going and putting
the letters on a shelf that's, you know, two feet off the ground or whatever.
They might. Need to climb up there.
Miles kept dropping themand, you know, like, oh my gosh,
that an extra, extra burdenin the, in the, in the puzzle.
But Noonan yet again proves herselfto be a challenge beast.
(15:50):
She's the one who something clicks.
She starts racing around.
Logan starts to copy her.
It comes downto literally the last letter.
Miles is dropping something.
They're trying to get it back up.
And finally Braun wins.
It was so close I couldn't believe it.
It seemed like a second or two different.
Yeah, it was really, really close.
(16:11):
So congratulations to the Braunfor staying safe another night.
But it was really, really close.
It could have been, you know,if they had had
one letter out of place, you know, things could have ended very differently.
So it was, a great challengeto watch. Yes.
So very disappointing for the brains.
But someone is
(16:32):
being very public,
which becomes very powerfulabout giving Max the fan it.
Everyone sees it on the brains tribe.
Yeah.
So after yelling out all of his thoughtsduring the challenge,
he lets everyone know what he's up to.
So he said to save
Laura and Logan,it sounds like, as I was passing over.
(16:55):
The paper. So I thought it was interesting.
Oh, hold on one second.I thought it was interesting.
They I didn't necessarily get the feelingthat he had to, like, physically
hand it to someone else to use it.
He could either use it when he goesto tribal or someone else can use it.
Well, I had to be used that this tribal,so I had to hand it over to the brains.
I thought, oh, maybe there was some waythat he could have it delivered.
I didn't feel like it.
(17:16):
Seriously, because thatjust really puts him in a bad place.
I could have done it quietly.
Other players in past seasonsbeen able to slip things
to other people they have, but he wasn't worried about that.
But no, you're rich.
He's not. No.
So the masks tell everyone, right?
Yeah.
I got the sense that it's an advantagethat you have to give Jonathan the paper
(17:37):
and say I'm playing disadvantage.
Oh he had to get it physically over there.
But yeah.
So since this is such a public display,Max feels compelled
to read it out to everyoneas soon as they get back to the camp.
Which is which is good.
Solid good that he did that.
Yeah, I think that's reallythe only way you can do it.
Otherwise everyone's going to say, youknow, what is is an idol and it's right.
(17:58):
It's going to target Max himself.
So he
says, but, Rich told him to get outone of the women,
but he said that he has to stomp a rat out
as he's standing right next to Myles,he announces that.
So Max saysthat he will be sending himself
and AJ homeand everyone else can scramble.
(18:21):
Yeah, I don't really like this.
Logan was going to be very upsetbecause she thought
she as part of his alliance,he should have talked to everyone
and they should have come up togetherwith a plan.
And then they come upwith a group of the graduates.
Yeah.
So Karen really wants Ali outbecause she thinks that she's talking
(18:41):
too much, which we've seen over and over again.
She went over to the brawn tribeand told them all of their alliances.
She immediately ran to sprint into Maxto tell him
that his name was brought up at the water.
Well,so she gets together with Myles, Zara and
AJ and Myles announces that
their name will be the graduatesbecause everyone's
(19:04):
acting like they're in high schooland they're going to rise above it.
Oh, why didn't she say you have a plan?
Your plan for todayis to come up with a name.
Oh, is that what she saying?
That's like, that's your job.
Oh he delivered. Yes.
He did a great job.
I think it's very fitting.
So their plan is in
in the graduates with these four is thatthey're also going to bring in Caitlin.
(19:25):
So they run over and tell him.
But then Caitlin also gets pulled by Maxand Max,
who is telling Logan and Caitlin, that that's not really the plan.
It's not gonna send himself and AJ home.
Instead,he wants to do a cheeky little blindside.
So now Caitlin, who has barely heard
from this entire season, is becomingthe most important person on the campus.
(19:48):
Yeah, calling the shots.
So it's very interesting though, because then Max says that he's
going to take Zara and Corrineback to camp,
and then they'reall going to vote for Ali,
which is funnybecause now both plans are on Ali.
So who's Ali going to vote for?
She's not talking to anybody.I don't know it.
It's very strange.
(20:10):
You know what I mean?
I don't see anyone pulling her in.
So I guess she just kind ofnaturally came out this way.
She didn't fit into either group.
I don't know.
Didn't someone say to her to vote?
Zara.
Yeah.
So eventually the plans change over.
And over again.
I feel like.
Yeah, but for a second there, both groupswere on Ali and I thought that was kind.
(20:32):
But you out of
there, you know, trying to figure outwho should go back to camp.
And it turns out it would have beenthe same result either way. Right.
But they kind of changed the voteover to Zara.
Logan and Laura don't like Zara very much,so they change that.
You know, there's a lot of back and forth.
And we're heading into tribal yet again.
I've seen plenty of names thrown out,and I have no idea what's going to happen.
(20:55):
Who's going to even have a vote.
So it's very exciting, right?
Right.
We head on into tribaland rich is the main topic of discussion.
We're talking about the scroll.
We're talking abouthow he's impacting the game.
Max announces that he is at war,
and has a has a nuclear bomb. Yes.
(21:15):
So he's quite public with that.
Right?
He's not coming back. Not at all.
Khan, I thought, did a great job.
She kept saying,
stuff about how we're going to graduateand are going to be graduate.
Are you going to high school?
And so very similarto how, a few episodes ago,
AJ kept saying the bomb squad at workor whatever, right.
(21:36):
They seem to be incorporatingthese team names into their discussions.
That's right. Good.
Yep. Well, I think it was interestingbecause, my Jonathan smiles.
You know who's Max talking about?
And Miles says the answer is me.
I'm the jungle rat.
But the jungle rat survives.
And then Max said, not this time, right?
(21:59):
A lot of hostility there.
Right?
It's very odd.
We rarely see people so blatantly talkingabout each other like that at tribal.
Right?
It's mostly behind their backor to their friends or whatever.
But yes, it's not veryoften that it's so public.
So Madeline sides.
(22:20):
Yeah.
Who did you side to send back to the campLaura system?
Oh go ahead.
Laura and Karen are heading back to camp.
And this is everyone on the tribewas surprised, and I was very surprised.
At home.
I'm thinking myself.
Laura is voting with Max.
Karen is not voting with Max.
(22:40):
So why would he take one from each side?
It just doesn't make sense to me.
He should have gone for Karen and Zahra.
Yeah. Well, logical.
That Sarah was very upset and said, well, this must be the bomb squad.
He must be working with.
Yeah.
So Richard told him to send the womenback to camp,
and the bomb squad would kind of getget out one of the women.
(23:02):
But Max is still targeting Miles.
Yes, it's telling.
But I had no indication
that Laura would not vote for Milesunless I missed something earlier.
It seemed like she was a slam dunkvoting for Miles along with Max.
So I just don't understandwhy she's not sitting at Tribal Council.
You know, I have no idea.
(23:22):
It was just an odd move.
And even, you know, thinking back,it still doesn't make any sense.
Well, maybe Max
really didn't know what to do,and they just picked those two names.
I don't know.
I feel like he had a plan.
Either way, Laura and Karen are out.
Everyone surprised?
Allie finally asks Logan, who are we voting for?
(23:43):
And I'm thinking, who was sheplanning to vote for this whole time?
Right?
There's discussion about Milesand suddenly it is time to vote.
Max is whispering for miles or miles toeverybody.
Seems like repeatedly, yes.
So it really got down to the wire.
That's a tied vote.
One vote left, and it all comes down to Kaitlyn's vote.
(24:04):
And he voted for Allie to go home.
And Max his face.
They really zoomed in on the ass smiling.
He was giddy and he was shocked.
Yes. Very confused.
Very, very confused.
And I didn't know who.
Like Miles was going to vote for.
I thought Miles and AJ was going to.
We're going to vote for,
Max. SoI was surprised that they voted for Allie.
(24:27):
Right? I feel like that at all.
Could have backfired on Max by himnot sending himself back to camp, right?
I mean. He's the numbers for it. Right?
So I was surprised it voted for Allie.
I don't know, I didn'tI really thought that Max was going home.
It it was surprising.
Yeah.
It didn't feel like Maxeven came up as an option to vote out. No.
(24:47):
I wonder if Allie was more palatableas an option for the original Bomb Squad.
I wonder if Kaitlyn may have nothave wanted to go against Max,
because it seems like
they might be a little bit closer, even though he's not voting with them.
You know how sometimespeople don't like to vote out
the person that they're betraying? So you're saying, yes.
I no, but that wasn't even a conversationthat the graduates had.
(25:11):
Well, and so it's not really clear
why Max didn't go home tonight, but he's here to live another day.
Right. And then we see the previews.
Ooh, we're going to drop our Sunday.
It's like a tribe swap is coming up.
So that seems really awful to me.
Seems really every time it comes upI think yeah I don't know.
But I mean it'll be goodto mix it up a little bit.
(25:34):
But there's Rich on the other tribeyou know for one episode.
Yeah I guess so. Yeah.
Oh well then he's going to havea lot of friends.
Yeah.
It's too bad that Rich didn'tget to go to a vote with the Brown tribe,
because that would have told uswhere he actually stands. Yes.
We don't really know where he standsgoing into things.
And now I'm thinking, Rich is goingto think that the bomb squad came together
(25:57):
tonight, and Unitedly voted for Ali.
And he's going to be surprised when hehears what happened with his advantage.
Yes. Myles didn't go homewhen the advantage was used.
Yeah, but Rich did want Myleslike I know he wanted a woman and that's
what happened. But it was Max's goal right.
He had he had the opportunity to use itand it didn't work out as planned.
(26:22):
