(00:00):
Hello and welcome to American TalkAustralian survivor I'm Rachel.
(00:03):
I'm Leah and I'm Matt.
Thanks for joining us.
We just watched episode 16 of AustralianSurvivor brains versus brawn two.
And there will be spoilers ahead.
We open up on a chaotic nightback from tribal,
where Logan has just played her idol.
At the suggestion of Karen
for herself, sending Laurato be the first member of the jury.
(00:24):
Oh wow.
It was sad to see Laura go.
It was sad to see Laura go.
It was really tough to see her go,but Karen and Logan are talking,
and they're saying that no one knowsthat car and told her to play the idol.
So Logan feels likeKaren is her main ally now in this game.
And it's obvious that Logan is feelingvery uneasy.
I mean, getting all those votes.
(00:45):
Yeah, she's extremely upset
and there's just so many peoplerunning around this episode talking.
Most of the episode is is focuses
on these discussions betweenall the different players plotting.
Correct. Yeah.
The interesting thing is,even that first night back at camp,
AJ goes to the guys
Caitlyn and Miles, and he even says, I think it was Kaz.
(01:08):
Yes it was.
May have suggested it.So I thought that was so interesting.
How did he pick up on it?
I guess there are whispersthat tribal last night.
Yeah.
Miles did say, did you seethey were talking and stuff like that.
So, but AJ does pick up on everything.
Yeah. So good for him.
And he says that he is after carin this episode.
Right. And then let's get to the reward.
So it's a very exciting reward.
(01:29):
It's the auction.
Yeah.
It's always exciting to see that
because, you know, someone'sgoing to end up eating something weird
and someone's going to end upwith a great, great reward.
But as Jonathan remindsus, there's always a twist
in survivor or,you know, in this case, in the auction.
So I feel like we struck goldwith the first auction.
I think they knocked it out of the park.Try one.
(01:51):
No need to change it.And they keep changing it.
Every iteration of survivor seems to wantto put their own twist on the auction.
So what do you guys think about this one?
Well, it was interestingbecause they tossed the coin right.
You get to pick heads or tailsand you get to see one of the two
items
if youcorrectly said heads or tails correctly.
I think a fun thing about the auctionis that,
(02:12):
you know, you never knowwhen it's going to end, right?
Traditionally, you never know
when the auction is going to endand somebody ends up with a bunch of money
and they never bid on anything becausethey were holding off for the cheeseburger
or whatever it was,and they end up with nothing this time.
Everybody got something.
Well, that was yeah, there was no money in there.
I know, I know, it's
(02:33):
just kind of a little disappointingthat somebody didn't get burned.
Well, on the way they did.
Someone was very upset this auction.
But let's start with Miles.
Miles, tosses the coin
and he gets a loaf of bread, which isn't that bad, bad, bad.
It's not exactly exciting.
But the second person, poor Paulie, why does he get to choose from Rich?
(02:55):
Well, Polly had such an interesting thing,so he flipped the coin.
He guessed it correctly,
and he gets to pick to see what's underone of the hoods, of his options.
And the first thing that Jonathan revealsis a phone Polly immediately,
but first he doesn't know what it is.
Everyone's like, oh, you know, knowing,of course it's called your loved ones.
And Polly.
He didn't know, but who knows?
(03:17):
I mean, he could just be, you know, sleep deprived and starving, you know?
Yeah, but it was just funny to see himnot understand.
And then as soon as it's explained, that means it's past. Yeah.
Like not even a second's hesitation.
Oh, you want food?
Yeah. And I kind of agreewith Polly on this one.
I think, you know,
if you don't have little kids at homeand you're not waiting on some big news,
you know, you can talk to your familyafter the game.
(03:39):
You've got to play the game of survivorwhile you're in it.
So these muscles need food or so.Yeah, yeah.
No he said.
Yeah.So I kind of agree with Polly on this one.
I say take the food, passup on the opportunity
to talk to your loved ones,
but unfortunately, see, this is whatI don't like about this new auction.
Typically,Polly would have the opportunity to say,
you know, I'm not going to vote on this.
I'll wait for the cheeseburgerto come up or whatever.
(04:01):
But now he selects the other optionthat's covered that he doesn't know.
And it's just a pickle.
Yeah. He's so upset. It. Yeah. So upset.
And he had no like opportunityto get something.
You know it was just like the draw.
He was upand his options were a phone or a pickle.
So he had no choice but to get that.
So that was a lot I didn't like thatpart of the new auction.
(04:22):
The era that we're in.
Well, yeah, I was disappointed.
I mean, he was throughoutthe whole auction, he was very upset.
But yes. Very vocally. He was. Right.
But we see Caitlin gets the rice markand gets a coconut drink.
Yeah. So that's pretty. Disappointing.
Yeah.
At this point we're like is there anythinggood under this under these lids.
(04:44):
AJ said something.
This is the worst auction.
So you know if you like picklesand you haven't had a pickle in 30 days
a pickle might not be that bad.
At least it's some flavor as opposedto rice that you've been eating every day.
Right.
And coconutsthat you've been drinking every day.
Just saying in a pickle might not be that.
Bad, butif your life is much more fulfilling.
(05:06):
Yeah, yes, I agree.
But anyway, go ahead.
Finally we start to see some good foodcome out of
Jonathan's auction boothand Karen gets a piece of pie.
It's a pretty hefty piece of pie is.
Yes, I'mvery happy. Is that lemon meringue?
Then we see
Zora gets a full mealwith a steak and fries.
So we're finally starting to see someof our classic auction items come out.
(05:29):
Then next up, Kate gets an advantage.
So this was kind of interesting. She flips the coin.
She, sees that it's an advantageand has to make the choice.
Does she want to take it or not?
And it looks like she was kind of thinkingabout not taking.
Well, maybeshe didn't know if it was an advantage.
Maybe it was.
You know, they didn't sayit was going to be an advantage for sure.
Yeah, I guess I just assumedbased on other seasons, that of course
(05:51):
it's going to be an advantage. Yeah.
It would be really bad if she had to dosomething in order to keep her food.
You never know, you know? So, yeah.
There's always a twist.
All you need isone pickle and you can say.
Yeah, but
Kate ends up taking itand it ends up being a steal an item.
And she's not happy about this.
So I kind of agree with Kate.
This means that anything that's presentedshe can steal from another player.
(06:15):
I remember a couple seasons agothey did an like, reward like this
where someone got one of everythingthat everyone else got, and I like that.
Bring back that.
Oh, that was, Yeah, that was our favorite Luke.
Luke one that. Yeah, that was really fun. Right.
You got to say that.
Oh, you got. A piece of cakeyou got, right. Yes.
I remember they had him sithis special table right next to Jonathan.
(06:38):
Yeah. That was a lot of fun.
No, that's a that's a reward.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
They bring that back Jonathan. Yeah.
So I feel kind of bad for Kate'sjust put in this awkward position.
I mean, it's better than a pickle, but,but then she immediately uses it
when Kristen reveals lasagnaand then crate still that.
And it was just.I didn't really like that.
(07:00):
Then someone else loses out.
It just wasn't that fun. Yeah. So.
So what's her other option?
Just not play it.
All right? She had to do it.
But it was kind of late in the game,as you said earlier Matt.
When when we were watching.Yeah it just seems like it's.
So it should have been the second one.
Right. That should have been like the second
Right. That should have been like the second
thing that somebody picked.
Not so latewhen there's only three things left.
(07:22):
So basically she had a choice of lasagna,a pepperoni pizza or a call home.
Yeah, not a whole lot of options. Right.
So AJ was happywith this pizza. And Logan,
boy, does she have two cute kids.
He received the phone call from home, and.
Oh, those kids are cute. Very emotional.
I, I see why she would have gonewith the phone call and probably didn't
because she has little kidswho want to check in on them.
(07:45):
But she had a rough night last night.
Yeah, she'sfeeling much more alone in the game,
so it makes sensewhy she won the phone call.
And we'll see if it helps hermoving forward.
So I got a laugh out of her saying, like,I almost got voted out last night.
Yeah, yeah.
So now we're back at campand AJ is once again once Karen out.
Yeah.
So AJ has this, idea that he wants towork with the people from the brawn tribe.
(08:08):
So Polly, Kate Morgan, and he wants carand out, but Myles does not.
And this is one of the reasons whyI think AJ and Miles alliance is so unique
is that, or kind of interesting is thatMiles isn't planning on telling AJ he's
just kind of planningto go behind his back, get Kate out.
But then it sounds like he'snot planning to cut Miles out of his game.
(08:29):
I think that he's planning on them kindof coming back at the end of this vote
if they vote separatelyand becoming allies again.
And I always like those sort of playersin survivor, where you don't have
to be 100% loyal to someoneto still see the advantage in each other.
Go do your thing and we'll be friendslater on.
I don't agree with what you're doing,but I got to do this.
You got to dothat. Let's see what happens.
(08:49):
All right. Yeah, I think that's more fun.
Now we're at the immunity challenge.
This was tough.
The players had to lift up a leg,and balance a ball on a beam.
And if they move their leg, even a little bit, their ball fell out
and they were out of the challenge.
This looked like it would be tough, evenfor two minutes, let alone one they know.
(09:09):
And the first one out was Kaitlyn.
Yeah, our double immunity winner.
So they were chasing quickly.
Yeah, they were out quickly.
It was very tough.
Eventually we get to 55 minuteswhere it's just Kate
versus Logan, and we seeKate wants to make it more challenging.
I know.
Yeah.
So put your hands behind your back, like, wow.
(09:33):
I always wonder when people say thingslike that,
you know, like, let's up the ante a little bit.
Do you think that they thinkthat they're about to go out
and they're like,I've got to change things
up really quickly or mess up my opponentor she they genuinely or.
She wasn't flinching.
Yeah, she was very good. But did.
And then meanwhile Logan's talkinglooking around.
(09:54):
But then that killed Loganbecause she saw a spider on her foot.
And instead of just not looking atthe spider, that's all she could think of.
She's looking down. Try it.
And then when she triesto, you know, use air to move the spider,
that's when she loses it and losesa challenge.
Is very upsetting that she lost her focus.
(10:16):
Yeah.
She was too focused on the spiderand not focused on the challenge.
So she moved her hands,
which is really too badbecause that was the added part, right?
Like thatwasn't even part of the initial challenge.
That's what got her.
Yeah.
But yeah, I mean,I guess if you're out there for an hour
and 15 minutes and you see a spider, you would get a little antsy
(10:37):
and you want to do something, it'sinteresting that, you know,
she had no allies in the gameto walk over and move the spot.
Yeah. Okay. We've done that. Yeah.
I didn't even think about that.
So Kate wins and then we're back at campand everything's going all over again.
All the conversations.
Yeah.
So Corin was targeting Katebecause Karen's thinking that Kate
(10:57):
and Morgan, are one of the buddy pairsthat we've been talking
about the last few episodes, and she'sseeing that Kate and Morgan are getting
pretty close to AJ, so she wants to woundAJ by taking one of them out.
And that's kind of the planthat Myles was thinking up as well.
So Karen is very upsetthat that Kate won.
She just goes on and on about itand finally says, okay, I guess
(11:20):
we'll target Morgan.
So Curran's plan is to do A532 split.
She wants five on Morgan, three on Pollyand then two on Logan.
It's just very ambitiousto think he can pull that off.
Well she's not going to 18 miles.
So I know.
So I know.
Yeah they always seemto have these grand plans of exactly
how the votes are going to fall, and they never do. Right.
Yeah.
Well, I think it's interestingbecause then AJ gets suspicious of Kaz
(11:43):
as he calls her, and he says, hey, she's being too nice to him.
So I think something's wrong.
Yeah.
Which is suspicious knowing those two.
So then on the flip side, the plan, that AJ has concocted,
he wants himself, Myles, Polly, Morganand Kate to go five on Logan.
And we already knowthat Myles isn't in on that.
So now Myles and Pollyare kind of talking and saying listen,
(12:07):
we get to kind of decide who goes home.
So like we've been talking aboutin previous episodes, this is always
really fun to see how the dynamicand the power shifts episode to episode.
Oh, who would have guessed a few days agothat Polly is empowering people, right?
And who would have thought ten episodesthat Myles would be in power, right?
Exactly. Yeah.
So if you were Myles and Polly, who would you have taken out?
(12:29):
Would you have targeted Loganor do you have targeted Morgan?
I think Logan.
I think Logan.
I think again.
I just think it seems like it's, hertime to go
and she just might be able to turn itaround and become friends with everybody.
I'm not really positive why,but I just feel like she needs to go.
I think Logan's been a very,
(12:49):
impactful player,so I think she should stay.
Morgan, I don't hear as much from Morgan.
I don't see her doing as much,so I think she should leave.
Not Morgan.
Morgan's really playing the game.
Morgan's really playing the game.
Well, I think that Morgan's being quietand not doing as much
makes her a more valuable playerin the setting of the merge,
because that's a playerthat you might be able to beat at the end.
(13:10):
If she doesn't have a lot on her resume
now, she may be someoneyou want to keep in the game.
I like the people who play.
Logan can say, I, I nearly got voted outand I stayed and I did this and I,
you know.
Yeah, I continued, even though I,I did not have a friend in the game.
Yeah.
Looking at the end game, I would not
want to be sitting next to Loganif I were playing.
However, for this vote, I think if I wereMyles and Polly, I would target Morgan
(13:35):
because that wayyou're taking AJ down a peg and you're
making sure that you're keeping him closeas an ally, because I think that AJ,
if he gets a little bit too much power,he could really turn, Myles and Polly.
So I think it's.
And I think that's what's going to happen.
I mean, he's becoming very close to Kate.
I mean, he's becoming very close to Kate.
Yeah.
So I think those two really haveto keep a close eye on AJ.
Well, then we see the scramble continue.
(13:59):
We see that,it just talking to Kristen Zara.
And there's just a lot of talk.
Zara is now talkingto Corrine Cargo's Kaitlyn.
And then we see,we see an argument between, Corrine and.
Well, it's basically it's the graduates.
Plus, Kirsten and Corrine is really upsetby these last minute plans.
(14:21):
So Corrine gets very easily,
I think her, I don't know if it's her egoor she just gets.
She feels like she's left outvery often in this game,
and she really takes it to heart.
And I feel like it's going to harm her, because here she is again saying,
you know, you're making last minute plans and
we should have talked about this before.
And she seems a littlebit unsettled by the changes.
(14:42):
All right.
So I want to jump to tribal becauseI think that all of this conversation,
if is going on the whole show.
But I like the tribal now becauseLaura comes in, she looks beautiful.
Everyone's like, woohoo, right?
Yeah, she looked great.
So it's always funto see the first jury member come and.
And then join.
The group to have showered.
(15:04):
Yeah, it looks great.
And Jonathan drops a bomb yet again.
Tonight is going to be a little different.
Tonight is going to be a little different.
So instead of voting someone out there
dividing into two teams and then tomorrow,
whichever team wins immunity, all of them are safe from the vote.
And then the added twistis that some of the one of the tribes
(15:25):
is going back to the initial camp, and then the other tribe has to go
and make a new camp. And it's night. Time.
Yeah, I don'tI feel like we already did the.
Tribes, right?
Yeah we did. It's that part of the game.
I'm just not a fan of this.
And I, you know, I've said it before, just splitting them into groups.
Once they're one group,it just doesn't make sense to me.
Well, and then. Yeah, I don't think to.
(15:46):
Make matters worse, the, the team
that's doing so well, they also get an advantage, right?
Yeah.
So to make it even at the next immunitychallenge, I mean, it's just unbelievable.
So really what this is doingis we're more or less
saying these people are going to be safeat tomorrow's
(16:06):
tribal counciland that this, this tribe is not that.
So, but I do like that
Cait got to be on the winners tribe.
The tribe.
Because I was thinking initially,as he was saying,
you know, oh, tonightit's going to be a little bit different.
I was thinking, well, that's really annoying, that Cait
worked really hard and won immunity, and now no one's even getting voted out.
(16:28):
So I'm glad that she's still gotsome sort of advantage.
I agree with her immunity.
What I bet again, was just kicking herself like.
Yeah, she was so close.
But then the
othertwist is that the we're still voting,
and the peoplewith two people with the most votes
are automatically on the Baron tribe, and then everyone else throws rocks.
So there's just a lot of confusiongoing on at this point in the game.
(16:51):
I thought it was too muchfor Tribal Council.
I didn't like how chaotic it was.
I kind of wish we justhad a straightforward vote at this point
in the game.
Yes, it's too late to be throwingthese crazy things into the.
Game, right?
You think every episode someone'sgoing home at this point?
Yeah, it's it's always funto have a twist in the switch up the game
a little bit,but this is too much in my opinion.
(17:14):
I hope they don't make thisa regular part of the show.
I doubt they will. I think they justwanted to do different things.
So Kate is a winner.
Picks Morgan to go with her, right?
So those two are safe. And no, they're doing.
Well and no one's surprised.
Yeah, but what's interesting isthen we see all these whispers about
who we're going to vote forto put on the Baron tribe and Miles.
(17:35):
So everyone's, you know, like,oh, let's go stick with the plan.
Let's go. Logan.
And it feels like kind ofjust who you don't like.
And then Miles is bringing upa good point.
You know,we need people on both sides to vote for.
So Miles is willing to vote for Kateor Morgan, as we know.
And then he wants Polly on the other sideso that they have someone to vote for
on the opposite tribe as well.
(17:56):
Which is a good way of thinking about it,right?
Like it's not just who do you want?
Not to win at the challenge tomorrow?
It's who can you vote for?Depending on which tribe wins.
Yeah.
So makes sense.
To have and kind of.
To have somebody on each side.
To have somebody on each side.
And sort of going along those lines.
Karen wants to split upAJ from Kate and Morgan.
So she's pitching to vote forAJ to go to the Baron tribe.
(18:18):
Which I think was an excellent ideaand why, you know,
I think that was a way to go.
Yeah.
So it's interesting how everyone is kindof scrambling at this point in the game
and making a lot of different choiceswhen you really have no control over,
you know, you have very minimal controlover who is actually going on each tribe.
All right. So then they have to vote, right?
(18:38):
Yeah.
So we find out that Pollyis definitely going to the Baron tribe,
but AJ and Logan are at a tie.So then we go to a revote.
The first reveal ofthe season and it's for this.
So then it comes out finally
that Logan is going to be on the Barontribe, and AJ is pulling rocks
with the rest of themto figure out what tribe he's going to be.
And Paul or Logan,
she must have been so disappointedthat she did not win that immunity.
(19:01):
Yeah, well,Logan and Paulie were both really upset.
Oh, they were.
Oh, they were.
Paulie was saying, you know, like, well, why am I being punished?
This is this is a tough.
And this is where
I'm not worse than a vote out, because that could probably be
the worst thing that happened on survivor.
But I feel like this is even more, like, personal than voting you out of the game.
This is like, I want you to go to a beach.
(19:24):
Like I want you to.
Suffer tonight in the rain with no fireand no shelter.
And. Yeah, like you're goingto get breakfast tomorrow morning, so.
All right, so they vote again.
And Logan, like you said, is with Paulie. Yes.
And then the rest.Of the time for rocks. Yes.
So we come up with the final
teams we see on the Baron tribegoing to make their own shelter tonight.
(19:45):
We have Paulie, Logan, Miles,Kristen and Kaitlyn.
And on the bounty tribe, going back to the regular camp is
Kate, Morgan, Zara, AJ and Corin.
So thank God AJ didn't get that last vote
because he would have been, you knowthat really his game flip the most.
I think with that vote yes.
But now I think it's the worst nightmarebecause I believe he will make
(20:07):
a pact with, Morgan and, Kate and Kate.
Yeah. Well, Khanis there to observe. Yeah.
And possibly stop it the last week.
Yes, but it out. Yeah.
So anyway, it was an interesting episode.
Two different twists, the tribal and, reward
for different, you know, different aspects of the show.
(20:28):
But all in all, it's interesting.
I just thought it was kind ofan uneventful ending that,
you know, an more interesting endingmight have been them going back
and trying to start to build their
shelter or whatever, but it just kind ofeverybody just kind of walked away.
Well, we'll find out more tomorrow, right.
The next thing.
So thank youeveryone for joining us tonight.
(20:49):
Yeah.
So we are not huge fans of this twistright.
And and let us know on Instagramat survivor, TikTok at survivor.

will be winning the tomorrow's immunitychallenge?
