(00:00):
Even when you're broke, you got to keep on moving.
I want to start out the gate to grabyour attention, to get you going.
It is like a pregame speech.
It is like when you wake up in themorning and I want to be your coach baby,
even if you broke, you got to keep moving.
Who don't miss broadcast right now?
Don't have something going on intheir lives. Every third body,
(00:20):
if that was to take row,
everybody would raise their handlike we did when we were shorties.
We all got something broken. We all got something going on,
but you got to keep moving. That's the trick of the enemy.
They want you to be still sohe can get a good shot at you.
So that means you got to keep moving.
You can't let the enemyget a good shot at you.
He wants you to be still and be solid andsit right there with a walleye on your
chest, on your heart so he could get agood shot at you even if you broke. He.
(00:58):
I have to tell you, thisprobably is my heart's beating.
If you could feel my heartbeat right now.
This is one of the interviews that I amso excited about. I actually prepared.
I planned, I'm ready for this.
I believe the next half hour isgoing to rock and transform your
world because a coupleof weeks ago it did mine.
(01:19):
I was sitting out in the audience alittle bit down and I got to hear Coach
Prime speak at John Maxwell's eventand it did something in me that
I'm like, man,
I want to make sure that this man'smessage gets out to the world on a big
scale.
And so today you're going to get theopportunity to hear from somebody who by
(01:40):
the way was a childhood hero of mine.
There's three sports athletes that madea profound impact on me and they all
have one thing in common of whythey impacted me. Emmett Smith,
David Robinson,
and Coach Prime because when I was ayoung guy and I came to find my faith at
16 or 17 years old after coming froma very abusive family and a very
(02:02):
abusive grownup and my best friendin the world introduced me to the
gospel,
I ended up going to a college in auniversity where the Dallas Cowboys were
actually at that university and I gotto listen to Coach Prime and I got to
listen to Emmett Smith and I got tolisten to David Robinson talk about their
faith and it inspired thisyoung Mexican from Hereford,
(02:25):
Texas,
so much so that it took me into full-timeministry where we grew the largest
youth group per capita in United Statesof America and in that little town where
there were only three kids there,
we grew it to 800 kidsin a town of 15,000.
And these were the men who I was listeningto. Actually he doesn't know this,
(02:46):
but I tried to get 'em to come toHereford, but he was at the peak.
He was too primetime.
So I had to settle for Larry Brown andChad Hennings to come speak to my kids,
but that's okay. We'll getinto that a little bit today.
And we saw thousands of young peoplecome to know Jesus in that town.
And that was the reason why I went outafter hearing all of these speakers who
(03:09):
impacted my kids. That's why I wentand did what I did in this world.
And so for me today,
my heart is beating fast because Iget the opportunity to bring to my
community not just achildhood hero of mine,
but a man that is making adifference in this planet.
And so I'm asking our community,
(03:30):
I want you to welcome my new friend,
one of my heroes, coach PrimeDion standards. Come on everybody,
light it.
Up. Let's go. Hey, lemmetell you something man.
I need you to just come to Colorado.Just get me ready every day, baby.
You can bring me in like that.I ready? You are awesome, man.
(03:52):
I love hearing a glimpse of yourstory story. That was awesome.
Yeah, coach, it is true, man.
I remember meeting youat Midwestern state, man,
I told you this at John's event.
Let me go recruit some ofthose five stars for you. Man.
That was my real dream growingup. Then God changed it.
God changed it a little bit. So.
Me, you talking about me touchingyou, you touched me, man.
(04:15):
You gave me so much energy,
man and love it been infectious.
I've been waiting for this.I just got off vacation. See,
I'm still in my vacation boob unshavedand everything. I'm still looking rough.
Got lost in the Dominican on a jog,
jogging.
What was so stupid as I am to go joggingto get lost and my back was hurt.
(04:39):
I was too tired because I couldn'teven walk anymore. I'm like, Hey,
somebody come pick me up, man. But Pete,I'm ready for you man. Let's do this.
I'm excited.
Hey guys,
I want you to know I'm aboutto do something here in
about 25 minutes that I've
only done two other times infour or five years in doing this.
I've only done it for my goodfriend, ed Millet, Jenna Kutcher,
(05:00):
and for Bishop TD Jakes. Thoseare the only three people.
What I'm about to do for mycommunity today is pretty crazy,
but today you are going to walk awaymore confident that you came in here.
I promise you that.
And then I'm going to bless yoursocks off today people as folks
decide today to get a copy. Anddon't be that person who says,
(05:22):
I already have a copy. CanI have those gifts? No,
go buy a copy for another personand I'll give you the gifts.
I'm about to give you crazy giftsthat I don't ever do. But coach,
I want to start by saying there's beena lot of historic dates in your career.
You've got the birth of all your kids, you got championships, you got MVPs,
you've got moving collegecoach from college player,
(05:44):
professional player, baseball.
But I got to believe today is probablyone of the greatest historical
days that you've ever been able toexperience in your life as good Friday.
Why is today good Fridayso important to you, coach?
Well, it is just not just goodFriday because you, I'm a man of God.
I love the Lord all my heart, all my soul and all my mic.
(06:07):
But really it's just
not just a commitment. I'm trying tofind words to even describe this thing.
Not just the commitmentbut the power of the
relationship. The powerof the relationship.
I'm a relational person everywhere Godhas promoted me to and provoked me to go
(06:28):
to, it's come fromrelationship. Yeah, I had game.
I had ability and attractability,
but the relationship kept me there.
It maintained me.
It sustained me andthe relationship that I
have with
(06:48):
Lord and saviors unbelievable man.
I mean unearned believable.
I always feel like I'm in the right place.
I always hear that voicethat comes that serene
voice. That's why I don'thave no noise in my life.
I don't have no noise. I don't haveno dysfunction, no dissatisfaction.
(07:08):
I don't have no noise in my life. Sobecause the God I said he whispers to me,
take a left. See if I got noise, Ican't hear it. If I got distractions,
I can't see it. If I got chaos, Ican't feel it. He whispers to me.
He don't yell. He whispers to mebecause when there's a relationship,
it don't need to be no yellingwithin the relationship.
(07:30):
It don't need to be no yellingor no chaotic situations.
It don't need to be that.
It's just the calmness and sereneand serenity of the relationship.
And that's why I havejoy every day, my man.
I don't make one day much larger thanthe other one because every day is a
blessing for me. Man, every day I'mblessed. Every day I'm thankful,
(07:53):
I'm appreciative, I'm happy, I'm elated.
And it is not just because the financialstatus because I've been rich but
broke.
Wow.
I hope that didn't go over yourhead. I've been rich but broke in
to pieces ready to take my life, ready to give it all up. But God.
(08:13):
So that's why you can't stopme. You can't contain me.
You can't eliminate me fromtalking about my Lord and Savior.
I know where I've been.
I know when the hell and the depth thatI've been in and you want me to shut up
by somebody throwing me a liferap and saving my darn life.
You have lost your mind. Idon't give a darn who it is.
I don't care what media it is.I don't care what person is.
(08:36):
You ain't going to get me to stoptalking about my Lord and say,
you lost your mind. Please.
I don't care what stage I'm on andthat's why he trust me to put me on no
stages. He know I'mgoing to talk about it.
Yeah, coach,
I got a question I want to dive into oneof the chapters that moved me the most.
We'll get to your favoritechapter, but I want today,
for me it's just a resemblanceof man, I was this broken man,
(08:57):
but man Christ came and took my brokennessand made me whole and he made me
complete and I'm a new manbecause of what he did today.
All of it got covered today. All ofit got covered today. Not some of it,
but coach in chapter one,
it's one of my favorite chapters becauseI want you to speak to the people out
there today that feel broken.
(09:17):
They might feel broken intheir relationships or their
health or their money or
their business or their stressed. Andchapter one says, even if you're broken,
keep moving. I know that'sa meaningful chapter to you.
What would you say to all the folksout there that feel broken today?
I'm hit some of the points in thisbook. Even when you're broken,
you got to keep on moving. I want tostart out the gate to grab your attention,
to get you going. It islike a pregame speech.
(09:40):
It is like when you wake up in themorning and I want to be your coach baby.
Some of the folks prolific, profound people in the
country, they've had coaches,
but how can not Tom, Dick,Harry, or Larry have a coach?
That's what we're missing.That's why we're not elevating.
That's why we're not dominating. Becauseit has to be someone in your corner,
in your ring saying that baby girl, you got that? Nah, put that blood show.
(10:02):
Put a little, bring it back alittle bit. You beautiful girl.
You don't need all that. Takesome of that lipstick off, girl,
you got that my man.Work on them shoulders a little bit.
So when you up in front of folks,
you can just look proud and havethose shoulders just rolling.
So even if you broke, you got to keep moving.
Who on this broadcast right now don'thave something going on in their
lives? Everybody, ifthat was to take role,
(10:24):
everybody would raise their hand likewe did when we were shorties. When
Percy here talk here. Yeah, yeah,we all got something broken.
We all got something going on.But you've got to keep moving.
That's the trick of the enemy.
They want you to be still sohe can get a good shot at you.
I'm not a hunter whatsoever. I don't kill,
but I know I got wild hogs goingcrazy, tearing up a property at him,
(10:47):
and I allow people to come over and get'em my away from my property and they
tell me when they're still,
they get a good shot at him.So that means you got to keep moving.
You can't let the enemyget a good shot at you.
He wants you to be still and be silentand sit right there with a bullseye on
your chest,
on your heart so he could get a goodshot at you even if you broke moving.
The second point is thestrongest steel is forged in the
(11:10):
hottest fire. You shouldbe thankful right now.
It's hot because thatmeans you have strength.
God would never allow anything toovertake you or overcome you or something
that's mightier than he is. Ain'tnothing mightier than I got.
Ain't nothing mighty thanour Lord of Savior you.
So the fact that you're going through itmeans you got to hear me going through
(11:31):
it.
Don't stop in the middle and take noselfies of yourself going through hell and
you got to keep going and keep walkingone foot in front of the other and keep
on going and see nobody is livinga perfect life. You keep thinking,
letting social media trickyou to thinking Tom, Dick,
Harry and Larry and Mary and Sueliving a perfect life. No, no,
they ain't living no perfect life.
(11:51):
They just know how to hide it a lotbetter than you are, than you can.
Nobody's living the perfect life andyou're not the only one facing problems.
But we got to show each other. Compassion.
What was the last time you just lookedat somebody and say, how you doing?
I just wanted just ask you how you doing?Just by happenstance. You know what?
(12:12):
You look good today. See, I justwant to breathe a light in your day.
I just want to brighten that thing up.
You never know whatsomeone's going through.
We got to show each othercompassions and lift each other up.
That's why God placed me in the placethat I'm in. That's why you where you are
because he's used you as thatvessel. And the thing about it,
God always uses people to bless people.
(12:35):
How are you going to get blessed if it'snot going to come by the hand of the
plan of somebody else that's in yourlife or somebody that's coming in your
life,
you think you just bettergo in seven 11 to win this
big lottery? I wish all ofus could. I tell you what,
I sure do. I don't play it, but Isure don't want to. I really do.
(12:58):
But lemme tell you something, you got it.
Everything you need isalready inside of you.
You just got to waken it up and go get it.
And don't get mad at me becauseI'm up and I'm going to get it.
I promise you I'm up and I'm going toget it. My man, Pete, you keep me going.
You wake everybody up. I don'tknow what you've been through,
but you had to been through hellbecause of that passion you got for your
(13:22):
purpose and you where you supposedto be. That's why you blessed, man.
That's why you anointed. That's whyI'm hanging on every word you say.
That's why I couldn'twait to get on here today.
I got all this beautiful technology.I don't know how to work it,
but I'm like I'll be done if I'm goingto be late, I'm going to be on time.
So we could do this thing, Pete,
but I appreciate you man for thisopportunity and I want everybody,
(13:43):
the last note to this chapter is takecare of yourself physically and don't
ignore your mental health. Take care ofyourself physically. I got a shirt on.
It says, you look good, you feelgood, you feel good, you play good,
you play good.Last time I checked, they paid good.
Don't mad at me because I'm goingto take care of this rapping paper.
I'm going to make sure this presidentis wrapped straight because it's truly a
(14:03):
gift. So I want to make sureit's wrapped right. Alright?
You don't want to acceptnone. It ain't rap, right?
I was a lazy father atone point in my life.
I used to buy so many Christmas giftsfor my kids. I got tired of rapping them.
Like, here you go. You knowwhat it is? I just stop.
You already know what it is.Got tired of rapping them,
but I had to understand that somethingabout that rapping did some for
(14:24):
him, just the anticipation of it. So makesure you work on your wrapping paper.
Coach. That's so good man. Guys, Ihope you feel encouraged by that.
We could finish right now, we're not done,
but we could finish rightnow and I'd feel complete.
But I want to transition into the secondpart that I feel coach is so powerful
is, man, you do such anincredible job. And unfortunately,
(14:47):
me growing up in the church a little bit,
there's some where at tainted me andone of the ways where it tainted me is I
always thought I had tojust be humble and humility,
but you've got this perfect balanceof confidence and humility and I just
saw both the humility andconfidence in what you just did.
I want people to understand that's whatI felt from you a couple of weeks ago.
(15:11):
I went out and bro,
I landed a couple multimilliondollar deals in the next few days.
I felt so confident. I was like, stopbeing timid. Stop being holding back.
Everybody's telling you, oh, don'tput yourself out there. Don't do that.
And this confidence came up in me, butit didn't make me lose my humility.
How do you have both? BecauseI think some people have one,
some people have the other, butvery few people have 'em both.
(15:33):
And I think that's what I look to you for.
Well,
the thing about it is that I'm trulyconfident because I'm prepared.
I'm in my purpose.
I feel like I'm walking in my anointingthat everything is going forward because
I'm in God's will for everythingin my life and that gives me
a confidence. Some people call itcocky and it's call it arrogance,
(15:56):
whatever they want to call it.
They don't know me and I don'tgive a darn anyway what they say.
But it is that confidence that knowingwhen you take a test in school,
you study and you prepared your buttoff and you're going to h that test.
I don't even know what they put onthat test. I got this, I got this.
You know why? Because I'm prepared.
I'm prepared and I'm confident thatI'm going to knock it out of the park.
If I wasn't prepared, I wouldn't walklike this. I wouldn't be as confident.
(16:19):
I wouldn't have that inner knowingthat I know that. I know that.
I know that I'm going to take it.
But the people that takeit for something else,
they allow my confidenceto offend their insecurity.
See, sometimes it ain'ton you. It is them.
(16:40):
They allow my confidence to offend theirinsecurity because another confident
man, another confident person, another confident human being,
he understands and she understandsthat confident that we have.
You understand that confidence, you understand that swagger.
You understand when you putting it onand you dress it up and you tighten it up
(17:00):
and you looking straight, youunderstand their confidence,
but somebody insecure,
they don't understand itand they get offended.
They get offended by itand they don't understand.
I'm just confident because I'mprepared because I know who I know.
I'm walking in my anointing.
I know my assignment and Iknow I'm going to get it done.
And that's not arrogance, baby.
(17:24):
That's just my confidence. That'smy cologne, that's my natural odor.
That's the way I smelled.That's everything.
That's my aura. When Iplayed the game of football,
I was confident when I'mcoaching, I'm confident.
When I was a kid on1625, the Anderson focus,
when I stepped on the field, I wasconfident this ain't nothing changed.
(17:48):
You Just got a be camera.
You got a be camera. You can seeme much more clear, that's all.
And you're Hearing me and I'm connectingwith something in your spirit that
calls you and wants you to be thatway. Also, you don't have to brag,
you don't have to boast. And whenI'm talking about everything,
(18:09):
I'm always talking about us. I'mrarely in the media, whatever.
Talk about me, I'm talking about my team,
us because I want those kids to soar.I want some of your children to soar.
I want them to have theopportunities that we didn't have.
And I want you guys to be those coachesof those youngsters and you tell 'em to
(18:29):
go do it and they can do itbecause now they have you.
And we're right all these wrongs.
I had such an intimate conversation withone of my sons that's the quarterback
on the plane, and I'm like, baby,
everybody's not going to make the samedecisions that you are. Everybody don't
have the same options that you have,
but don't judge people becausethereof, they're still learning.
(18:53):
It's a process. You wereblessed. You not only had gifts,
but you were able to workand mature your gifts,
but you also had a father rightbehind you saying, no, no, no, no.
Take that left. No, no. Take that, right? Yeah, you're right there.
Everybody hadn't been blessedwith all those intangibles,
so be careful to judge,be careful to ridicule,
(19:16):
be careful to expedite every processand sometimes you got to take your time
and let people show you who theyare. Don't prejudge them whatsoever.
Golly, man, that's so freakinggood. I'm just telling you.
A couple of weeks ago I walked out ofthat auditorium and I was more confident.
My shoulders were a little bit more,
(19:36):
I went and got me a haircut and I madethat phone call and I landed that deal in
Canada. You can ask my buddyJared Grant and Grant Cardone,
I landed that deal and they'relike, dude, that's a big deal. Yeah,
because I was confident and I wastrying to hold back and I'm like, no.
Everybody's like, no,don't do that too much.
And now I'm starting to realize it'stheir insecurities that are getting in the
(19:58):
way from my God giftedabilities. And so coach,
I'm telling you, I don't know anybodyteaching that better, but man,
I hope that you'll do that someday.Coach, I really hope that you'll.
See you stir me up, man. Youstir me up, you'll get me going.
We had these little cards that youput the thing in the back of the car,
you pull that string and they go, y'allremember that? So y'all oldie goodies.
(20:20):
Y'all remember that stuff?See, that's what you doing.
You putting that stringin the back of me, baby,
you pulling that thing and yougoing to make me go. You keep on.
You going to make me go.
And I like that because we needthose people in our lives. Man.
If you are the smartest personin your life, you are fool.
If you are the most articulate, therichest, most profound person you are,
boom. Uhuh. I need peoplearound me that challenge me,
(20:42):
that ignite me to go to the next level.
I can't sit up there with all thedarn answers. That means I'm a fool.
If I'm sitting up therewith all the answers,
what everybody else doing around me,
if I'm the wrong one with the answersand how I'm talking right now,
how I'm instructed right now, howI'm in front of you right now.
That's how I am in my coaches'meetings. That's how I am.
Because everything is inclusive. Thisis a we thing. And he like, coach,
(21:06):
I work for you. I said, noyou don't. You work with me.
You work with me to go to the next levelto help these young men get to the next
level. You work with me, not for me. Wow.
And that chapter nine is so huge. Whathe's talking about is iron sharpens iron,
how important that is. Youkind of addressed it coach,
but you've dressed it a couple of times.
(21:26):
But we need those people around us whomake us better and take us to new levels.
I don't know if anything youwant to add to just that.
That's one of my favorite chaptersbecause the proverb of that. Yeah.
One point I want to add this one point.
If you going to measureyourself against someone else,
you better make sure they're the best.
Quit measuring yourself with somebodyin the office that's just barely doing a
(21:47):
little bit better than you doing.
Quit measuring yourself against thatold high school person that you went way
back and they just happened to come tothe high school reunion and they drove up
in this car. You don't know if that wasa rental. You don't know what that was.
What measuring yourself, if youyou're going to measure yourself,
go for the darn best.
I mean oftentimes I'm on socialmedia and I'm grand and all you
(22:09):
got, I'm just trying to see whatthey're doing. What you doing?
Let me hear you articulate yourself.Let me see when you get down.
That's why I was so excited.
Closing the darn room with John Maxwell. Are you kidding me?
This was my mag cu la. This was my dog.
This was the guy that he's ona pedestal up here in my books
(22:31):
and I'm in a room with himgetting ready to speak just
20 some years ago. I just wanted tomeet him. Now I'm on his platform.
Don't you ever tell me what Godcan't do, John Maxwell. See,
when I'm running, when I'mwalking, when I'm jogging,
I'm listening to his audio, I'mlistening to him. I got his voice.
(22:53):
He gives me direction andcorrection to darn thing I need.
And I absolutely love it.
So you got to get you somebody that'sdriving that little engine that could in
your life to direct you and toget you going, to get you up,
to get you excited about life.
And I got a multitude of those men aswell as I got a multitude of people that
(23:13):
can check me. They can call me and say,Hey, look here, Uhuh, take that down.
I'm so sure that ain't, you don'tdo that. Why are you liking that?
Don't like that Uhuh. No,
you got to have those people that cancheck you and you respond to that check
like you, right,
instead of being argumentative becausethey just want the best for you.
(23:35):
They just want you to soarand you should want to soar,
but you got to have people in yourlife that has the ability to check you.
Yeah, coach completely, man.I love that. I love that.
Hey coach,
I know chapter 13 was one of your favoritechapters and then I'm going to do a
couple of power questions to bringus full circle. But chapter 13,
(23:57):
what's your favorite? What's your favorite rabbit?
And tell me why is that one ofyour favorite chapters in the book?
I think it's at the top of your listof why that's one of your favorite
chapters.
Well,
because most of these chaptersI've tied a story to that you can't
forget and what's your rabbit?
It comes with a story about growing upin Florida, going to the dog tracks.
(24:18):
Well before I was of the age season,
go to the dog tracks andwe had these greyhounds,
these beautiful fed andnourished matured greyhounds that
their goal and the prizewas to catch the rabbit.
They had the rabbit run around and thecorridor of the inside of the track and
it just went around and ran round. But the greyhounds never caught it.
(24:39):
They had this muzzle on just in case theydid catch this mechanical rabbit going
around. They would be safe. Butthe chase always was fascinating.
People bet.
Oh thousands of consequently millionsof dollars at these dog tracks.
Just watching people bet and watching
(25:00):
that rabbit go round and those dogschase it. And I started thinking
at a young age, I had a verymature mind. What's your rabbit?
What you chasing?
We got to have something infront of us that keeps us going.
We got to have something in front ofus that wakes us up, that alarm clock.
We got to have something in frontof us that ignites us, inspires us,
(25:23):
encourage us to go to the next level.
We got to have something infront of us that keeps us at bay.
What is your turn rabbit? You ain'tgot no rabbit. How you running?
What you doing? You just meangering through life. Aimlessly.
What's your rabbit? My rabbit wasmy mama. See, my mama was working
(25:43):
the night shifts, so she was not there.
And then we never had a familymeal together. Stepfather
was in the room drunk.
But good man though.
And I pretty much was raising my littlesister who's seven years younger than I,
but my rabbit was getting my mother out. That situation.
My mother never saw me play ball
(26:07):
in high school and I'm him before him.
I'm him. I'm basketball, football, baseball, like him, basketball,
all state football, scholarship baseball,
drafted by the Kansas Cityroll out of high school.
I'm him and I look outthere ain't nobody there.
(26:28):
So be careful who you judge because I hadto create this whole prime time image,
this thing because I had to have myback because there was nobody there.
See y'all be judging folks. Youdon't even understand the story.
You see the glory. You don't evenunderstand the story behind it.
But that was my rabbit. I had to goget it because I wanted my mama there.
Ian's never met. And then whenshe was off on the weekend,
(26:49):
she went to this little funky laundrymat to lean up that place too for
nickels and crumbs and you thinkI wanted to see my mama like that.
She was my rabbit. So every timeI ran, every time naysay me.
Every time y'all pound me,
every time y'all ridicule me justbecause I balled out against your team.
(27:12):
I saw my mama and Lee Memorial Hospital,
but she start cleaningup we eyes of the night,
never saw me play, never saw me get down.So everything she heard was hearsay.
She never saw me get down inhigh school. That was my rabbit.
My mama ain't worked since 1989.
(27:34):
That rabbit just running. Oh,that rabbit is running you.
You going ridicule me like I care.
You going to talk about melike I care. And they going.
They say me like I care. Theygoing to doubt me. I care.
Remember what they say becauseI'm on a that rabbit. No,
(27:54):
that rabbit ain't work since 8, 8, 9.
And you got to aud to tell mewhat I ain't. I know what I am.
I'm a provider, a heck of a provider.
I got a house full and all 'emgot to let my last name, okay?
Or my mama's last name,
she was married afterwards because Iwanted her happy baby mama, do your thing.
(28:15):
I just want you happy baby, doyour thing. That was my rabbit.
Now what's your rabbit? I got mine.
What's your One of my best chaptersand I love it because it's so genuine.
It's so real like all of them, but that story tied to them,
you'll never forget thatmy mama was my rabbit.
I haven't forgotten it in weeks. I heardthat story and I'll never forget it.
(28:36):
I think that's the beauty of the bookcoach is every chapter has something so
unique that's so memorablethat relates to humankind.
I think a lot of books don'trelate because it's theory.
It's theory or it's somethingthey've never lived or something.
They've never walked out. It's justsomething that they've researched.
This is full of thingsthat you have lived.
(28:57):
And living and living and living. Yeah.
What I'm telling youto keep the main thing,
the main thing I'm living at rightnow, I got to keep the main thing,
the main thing because I got so many otherthings going on in my life that I got
to remember.
What's the main thing is the connectivityin my relationship with the Lord.
That's the main thing or what is hecalled me to do. That's the main thing.
And I got to keep the main thing. Themain thing. Yeah, I got endorsements.
(29:19):
I'm endorsing everythingfrom head to toe. I mean
if I can get it, I'm going to get it.I'm trying to find something for these,
right? I got eight toes, somebodybetter sponsor two of 'em.
The two of 'em is gone. SomethingI'm trying to go get it.
I love it. Damn. BecauseI want to enlight my team,
my young men that I coach, that I mentor, that our father,
(29:41):
I don't just coach these kids, I lovethem. I miss 'em already and we go back,
we report Sunday, but I'm like, I'mtexting like make sure everybody's there.
I don't want to hear you miss theplane. I don't want to hear that.
Get your bed back Saturdaybecause if you end there Sunday,
it's going to be lockerclean and Sunday, okay?
It's going to be locker clean Sunday.
Your locker is going to beclean if you ain't done Sunday.
(30:01):
But they got to hearthat a lot of young men,
people allow them to do their thing andto get over just because they had talent
and ability.
But someday that's going to surpassitself and I can't ask you to do that.
I'm raising men. I ain'traising no boys. Men.
Coach.
Two last two business questions hereand then I'm going to give two gifts out
(30:22):
and we'll bring this thing full circle. So the first one is from somebody.
Everybody here is trying to growtheir platform, grow their business.
That's my crowd, that's my community.They're entrepreneurs, they're nonprofits,
they're business owners. They'retrying to grow their platform,
trying to grow the crowds.
And so one of the questions that I toldpeople hit me up with questions and
(30:42):
Dale Earp decided, Wyatt Earps grandsondecided to hit me up with the question.
He said, you've excelled Coach Primeas an athlete, a broadcaster, a coach,
a player throughout your career.
You've built a powerful personalbrand in everything you do.
What are the keys that you would give toeverybody listening to this of how they
(31:02):
can build their brand from the way?
What keys or nuggets can you give themaround building their brands coach? Okay.
First of all, a lot of people wantbrands and they don't have plans.
Okay, let's get your plan together so youunderstand your brand coming together.
You got to have substance, you gotto be great at something not good.
(31:26):
You got to be great at somethingand make that your brand.
You can't be halfway with this, butyou want to make this your brand.
You can't know a little bit about that. You want to make that your brand. No,
no, no. My brand is called prime.Prime. When you go to Prime real,
that's the best of you. Watch a TVshow and prime time. That's the best of
(31:49):
prime is normally the best of.
So I built something onbeing the best of something,
the best of the defensive backs of theNFL, the best of this, the best of that.
It has to be authentic. You gotto want to do this for free.
What I'm doing, I would do it for free.
The only reason I'm notbecause ain't nobody else is.
(32:14):
If all the coaches say youdon't want to do them for free,
I do them for free too.
But you got to be passionateabout this. You got to dream big.
Don't ever dream average, dreambig. If you don't, who else will?
And see, life is a series ofmoments, series of moments.
The only way I'm front of you rightnow, I've dominated my moments,
(32:35):
which ultimately flips my brandright where it needs to be.
But I've identified thatthere's some things I can't do.
I can't endorse beer unlessI'm the designated driver
because I've never drank.
I can't endorse clubs or whatever goingout or I'm going to be appearing at this
club. I don't go out no more. I usedto own it during club. I go to it.
(32:56):
I used to own it. I don't do that.
I ain't done that in 20 some years. Theyain't been to a strip you only 30 some
years, but I need still nomagic. That's still my dog.
You got to understand who you are, whatyou are, how you are, why you are that,
where you going and how to get thatthis agent stayed in your life.
You shouldn't know these answers to thesequestions and then you come up with no
(33:16):
brand if you can't cook, why you selling cookies?
Somebody in the family better knowhow to cook. I mean if you market,
you the marketer. Yeah, but understand that. Yeah,
if you can't clean why you telleverybody about your house.
You got to understand whatyou are and how you coming and
dream big. Don't dream small, but do your homework baby.
(33:40):
Do your homework and be preparedfor your moment, your opportunity.
You're going to get it. It is bad.
It is a couple of players angryright now that plays for us.
Got an opportunity. I gave it to 'embecause I saw 'em working in practice.
I tried to put 'em in. Theydidn't even want to go in.
They was afraid of the moment,
but then they'll get on the socialmedia and start talking junk.
(34:04):
I said, I wear a mic.I slid to 'em one day.
I said I wear a mic during thegame so I'm always micd up.
So you remember when I told youto go in and you said why me?
I got that recorded. So the next time Isee you post something, I'm just saying,
I'm just so be ready for your moment baby.Be ready,
(34:29):
my brother, my man, my man.Be ready for your moment.
God will give it to you when you're ready,
not prematurely because ifhe gives to you prematurely,
it's going to destroy you because youain't built for that. You ain't built for
the not so successful moments.
You built for success but you notbuilt for the not so successful moment.
I don't want you on the sideof the highway like I was
once upon a time ready to
(34:50):
off myself because I wasn't readyfor what God was calling me to do,
wasn't ready for it. If you say youready for it, really get ready for it.
Dream big.
Don't stop dreaming big andprepare yourself in every
sense of the word prepare.
Coach, last question. One of the things I have,
I have so much respect for you andit's the last business question.
(35:10):
When I saw Jerry McGuire, I thoughtI was going to be a sports agent.
Swear to you. I did. AndI remember when my boy,
I told you about TonyAbano is a good friend.
He had me at his house and I'm tellingyou Big Nate for his graduation
party and Big Nate came and Emmettcame and Troy came. I was like, dude,
this is my chance. I'm 20years old. I'm like, oh,
they're kind of priming theircareer. Bill Bates, all those folks,
(35:32):
a bunch of them came over to the house.
So I always thought I was goingto be a sports agent and I didn't.
But then the idea ofattracting college students,
college athletes, especially in this NILworld and this transfer portal world,
holy cow. But one of the things that Ithink you do so well that I want you to
apply it back to people's businesses.
(35:54):
Coach Prime had the top transfer class.
He got the top transferclass in a couple of years.
He was getting five stars to alittle tiny college that had never
had five stars and he's stillgetting five stars. Coach,
I don't believe people do a goodjob of getting their potential
(36:15):
customers,
their potential leads to buy into them.
Would you tell us what is it thatthey've got to do to get buy-in in the
same way that you're gettingbuy-in with these athletes Coach.
First of all,
you got to find out who you areand be ready to live with that.
(36:36):
I don't have to sell nothing toan athlete because I'm sold darn
authentically me. I don't haveto sell it. I don't have to.
He just did a big article ofCoach Brian don't go and visit.
He don't go to nobody house. Isaid, you darn right. I don't.
I'm not like y'all.
I can't just go to Tom Dick and Harryand Larry House when then the man,
man down the street going to be madbecause they ain't go to his house.
(36:57):
Tom around the corner going to be madbecause they ain't go to his house.
I can't get down.
It is a whole different game that I'mplaying like I'm playing for keeps.
I can't go one spot place in the hoodand not go in the country to Jim Bob
house. Now you going to have meall out there. I can't do it.
So guess what I do?
I don't go to nobody house because let'skeep the main thing, the main thing.
(37:17):
You want to know how your son isgoing to coincide with Colorado.
So you need to bring your butt uphim because this is what he's living.
You need to get around campus. That's what he's going to be for me,
coming to your house and timingit perfectly right before signing.
That's game. I can do that. That'sgame. That's during the game.
That's all that is this game. I'mnot going to shoot game on you.
(37:39):
I'm going to be real with you. I didn'twant Bobby Bow coming to my house.
When I went to Florida State,
we had rats and roaches going to runheavy after seven o'clock. I knew.
Knew they was going to run rightbehind the little laundry room,
right behind the little floor model tvthat didn't work. We had a little TV on
top of that, one for thesound, one for the picture,
and he's going to run right tothe side and right in the kitchen,
right behind the little rackedgarbage disposal. That didn't work.
(38:00):
I knew the raps was going to run.
I ain't going to bother aboutnobody over there to see that.
So I wanted to go to Florida thing. That's what I was going to be.
So I was always, I'mauthentic, I'm genuine.
You're going to be authentic and genuine.
We're not only your customerswith you and work shortcomings.
So they could be strengthsworking, work on your weaknesses.
(38:21):
So they could be strengths. I didn'thave much weaknesses on the field,
but they said, oh you inside routes, inside routes, inside routes.
Because outside routes,if you threw that on me,
you know was going tohave to see me dance.
So I worked on inside stuff insidestuff to be more physical on the inside.
So I worked on my weaknesses. So there was no weakness.
I worked on my articulation so Ihad gain. So when you was ready,
(38:44):
I already had a black book. Everybodyelse had books to try to get your number.
I didn't give a damn about your number.
I had a black book and I wrote all myquotes down because I know I had game.
So when they interviewed me,I already had it written, man,
I'm the best things to peanutbutter jelly. I thought y'all knew.
Throw that ball at me again. You're going to hear the band plan.
See my marketing already had allthat stuff already intertwined in
(39:07):
my mind and I was ready tospit it off. So I was prepared.
Are you prepared in your business? Are you prepared? Are you thinking?
Are you forward thinking or youthink after something happens? See,
I think it's before I'm a head coach.
I got to be preparedfor what could happen,
what's going to happenand what did happen. We're
prepared for all those things.
I can't go out in a game and not beready for it. Okay? We get to, this
(39:31):
is what tripped me up. I know I'mtalking fast. I'm from Florida,
I'm getting excited. Sowe got two kickers. Three
really can keep me butts off,
but I let two of 'em kick.
So we get to a certain yardline and you got to say, okay,
we get to the 35 yard line.I want y'all to follow me.
Just say we get to the 30 yard line, okay? Now the end zone is 10 yards.
So if we get to the 30 and we kickit, is that a 40 yard field goal? No,
(39:56):
because you got to add what, eightyards to Where the ball is placed.
I ain't got time to be doing allthat. Mathematics on the sideline,
the ball moves.
You going to see three coneson my sideline and clone
is For every kid where he
can make it from. I got that kind oftime, man. I got that kind of time.
So I know my deficiencieswas not my best subject,
(40:16):
okay? English was Storytelling. That was my best subject.
So I have all this stuff. I knowMy weaknesses, what I'm trying to say,
what are your weaknesses? Knowthem and prepare for them.
So I'm okay and I see that coach, Heycoach Monica, make it from there baby.
Hey, just give me the firstdown, give me the first down,
even another the first time wegood on the field goal. Alright,
(40:37):
then you can do your thing. Butwe got three points right now.
How do I know that? They already addedit up for me and they put the coach down.
So it's so funny because nextthing y'all see us play next year,
you going to say, he told meabout them cones on the sideline,
But I promise you and take life serious. That's a whole nother point, man.
(40:58):
You got to maximize your moments.
You got to take life seriousand dominate the day.
I'm not thinking about tomorrow becauseI'm going to think about dominating
today.
I'm not thinking about yesterday and Icrippled by it whatsoever because I'm
going to dominate today. Today I'mgoing to be happy. I'm going to smile.
I'm going to do my thing and when Iget to tomorrow, I'm going to do that.
Some of y'all are crippled from that.
(41:18):
I'm Dick and Larry yesterday that youcan't even enjoy the day and you are
afraid of tomorrow, right?Okay, I know what she did. Men,
I Know you are left for dead, butguess what? Let's get back up.
Let's brush ourselves off. Let's go getit because we going to win today, baby.
We going to win today. And whenwe win today it is all right.
(41:39):
Did you say something about it? Okay,we won. We won. We won. That's right.
See, I'm from Florida.
We said when we done somethingwe said we talked about it.
That's where I'm from. I'm Florida. Wedidn't keep it silent, but we won. No,
we won. We did that, we did that.
And you all are capable and more thancapable of doing that. First of all,
if you would take the time out and thenyou did at this time of the day to get
(42:02):
on this wonderful broadcast orwhatever we calling it with my new dear
friend, that means you want more.
And I like that because you've alreadymade the decision that you want more and
you understand how to go get it andlet's go get it. Let's go get it.
And let's just build a whole army ofwinners and dominators that they just sick
(42:25):
and don't know how weassemble with one another.
Then they got a whole team of hatersthat hating against you right Now,
it's funny how people that don'tlike you always find each other.
They have nothing in common. They like each other,
but the only thing they share incommon if they don't like you,
I love it because I speak to 'em, Icompliment them. I do everything, man,
(42:46):
because it just warns 'em off. Butyou know what makes 'em more upset?
To see you winning, tosee you to see smile,
and you really mean thatsmile. That smile is authentic.
You're not faking and let's win that way.And let's not be nasty to nobody, man.
We too blessed to be stressed. Wetoo blessed not to pass the test.
We too blessed for the foolishness.Let's do it the right way, the godly way.
(43:13):
Hey guys, I'm curious. How many ofyou are ready to run through a wall?
And how many of you have beenblessed by Coach Prime today?
How many of you ready to runthrough a wall? My community?
I'm asking you to let him knowyou are ready to take a walk.
That's what I felt two weeks ago.
Dude, this, I mean, you got meready to go, coach. I'm ready to go.
Get on the field right now. I'mready to go do this. I really am.
(43:36):
All I need is say now give me my steammusic and they hit that thing, dude.
I mean, I'm ready to go ball. I'mready to go ball right now, baby.
I am too, coach. I'm telling you. Hey,
I got a question for all of you becausewhat I want to do is I want to give two
gifts right now. I want togive two gifts right now.
I want to give one to y'all and I wantto give one to Coach before we let 'em go
(43:58):

How many of you know somebodythat needs to hear Coach Prime's?
You got employees, yougot kids, you got spouses.
You want to figure out how to elevateand dominate. I'm telling you,
this is it.
And so here is my ask of you and Coach,I'm going to come right back up to you,
(44:45):

I've only done this Fred Myletand I've only done this for Jenna.

So I hope that blesses thismessage today, coach, I really do.
You are a blessing of True Blessing andI appreciate this time. I really do.
(47:23):
Yeah. Thank you coach. Hey, Don. Hey, Ijust want to say thank you to you, man.
This doesn't happen without you today, man. So Coach Don, if Don doesn't,
Don's a believer in me and if he doesn'tadvocate today, doesn't happen. So Don,
I just want to say Don's the one,
anything you want to sayabout Don Coach before we, he.
Is the man. First of all,I'm a hundred miles an hour.
(47:43):
Lemme tell you this quickstory about Don. Don came,
I think it was the first timehe came. We feel each other out.
You know how that is? I don't know. You got my best interest at the heart.
People have shot so much game. Igot to feel you out a little bit.
And I just got finished yelling atsome kid for doing the wrong thing.
Probably fucking drug tests or whatever.I'm just being honest with you.
So Don comes in my office right afterthat. That's all way on my mind.
(48:06):
And when it's time forus to talk about a book,
I didn't feel like talking about nodarn book with these kids on my mind,
and I sat down with Donand I looked at him.
He was all energized and ready to go.I said, you know what? Excuse me.
I'm not right. I'm not right.Let me go get myself together.
But I understood that he cometoo far and he's a blessing that
(48:26):
God sent me.
Why would I mess up a blessing with anattitude that he had nothing to do with?
So let me go digress.Let me call time out.
Sometimes we got to call time out oflife. Take yourself out of the situation.
Go get yourself together, then come back.
Then I came back and I was right.
And we had one of the best sessionsof all the sessions that we had,
(48:49):
and that was the initialone, the inaugural one.
But that I'm glad thatI really analyzed the
situation and digressed and got myselftogether so I could give him what he
deserved. Now, seeing the way thisbook played out, and you got a brother,
y'all got a brother on the NewYork Times best seller brother,
(49:10):
four miles Florida, NewYork Times best seller.
Don't you tell me what God can't do. Oh,
I ain't doing this for no money. I'mstraight. I want you to see everything,
Ryan. I'm straight. I'm straight.I ain't doing this for no money.
I'm doing it because Iwant to be your coach.
I want you to get to the next level, baby.
This ain't no bad grab. This is, Iwant you to get to the next level.
(49:34):
So Don is unbelievable,man. It's a blessing.
How many of you already feel like you'vegone to the next level in one hour
today? I'm going to give coach a gifttoday and then I'm going to get his final
thoughts for all of you so we canfreaking go through those walls. Coach,
when the time is right, this is my gift to you.
(49:54):
I've been able to help so many incrediblepeople who have powerful messages.
But I got to tell you,
you sparked something in me a coupleof weeks ago when the time is right for
you, and I told Don this, Sam, you don'tknow this, but this is my gift to you.
I'll go to Boulder.
You come to Colorado Springsand I will completely with my
team. Shoot 100%, edit it,
(50:17):
get it in the platforms, create the workbooks.
I will completely as my gift to you 100%.
Shoot that first confidence coursethat this needs and hand it over
to you as my gift to you. You justtell me the timing. No pressure.
There's no pressure there. Butwe've done it. Last year with Grant,
(50:37):
we sold 10,000 courses ina matter of a week or two,
I believe.
Everybody needs to understandthe confidence in which
you exude in this world.
So that's my gift coach,my company's gift to you.
Whenever the timing's rightfor you, coach, no pressure.
Well, if I use profanity, I would cussright now. I really would really cuss,
(50:58):
but I don't use profanity. But someof y'all. Y'all could use it for me.
I need your breath, but don't say it loud,
but I would really cuss rightnow because what you just did,
that's awesome, man. Youare awesome, my man. God.
I told Don, I said, Don, itwon't take us a year to do that.
It'll take us a couple ofdays, coach. That's it.
Couple of days we'll have thatbaby shot beautified up on a
(51:21):
platform and ready for the world tohave and it will be completely yours.
So you just tell me the timing. Iknow it's crazy and zero pressure,
but I felt that as I was prayingthis morning and I told my team,
I want to make sure, not just give ourcrowd a gift, but give coach a gift.
Coach final thoughts today as I, I amsorry we went a little long, coach.
I apologize for that.
(51:43):
No, I wanted to go long. Please. You've been a blessing man.
I just want all of you tounderstand, man, you got to believe,
you got to believe. If you don't believein yourself, ain't nobody else will.
You got to believe work, prepare,
get yourself ready because God isgoing to call you up and give you that
microphone and baby. It's goingto be time for you to perform,
(52:04):
but you got to believe inyou. Don't ever doubt you.
You can doubt anything around you, butdon't ever doubt you because you got it.
But you got to believe in yougot to get it ready. I love you.
I appreciate y'all. Thankyou for your time, y'all.
I'm fixing go fishing rightnow and catch some fish.
I promise you I'm goingto go fish my butt off.
