I discovered the hard way that losing myself to motherhood doesn’t pan out well. I use to think of my role as a mom as defining me. This made me overbearing. I was never doing enough and I focused on my kids with microscopic precision. I blew everything that happened to them up like it was a huge deal. I made kids problems into adult problems. I put a lot of pressure on myself and on them. In the process, I lost myself.
Without balance, with excessive focus on my role as a mom, many problems were created. Among other things, "overmomming" led to depletion and burnout. I needed to gain some balance. Step 4 to banishing mom burnout is to do this by rebuilding you life outside of motherhood.
