Ambience (00:00):
Hey podcaster, ever
feel like it takes massive time
draining leaps to make yourpodcast stand out and feel your
business? Well, think again.Today I'm exposing the myth that
bold action has to be huge. AndI'll reveal one simple 15 minute
move that could actuallycompletely transform your
podcasting journey. Stay tuned, because at the end of this game
(00:24):
changing episode, you might justshift how you see every single
episode from here on out andstart taking those actions that
are going to move your podcastforward because we are here to
inspire many. Even though we arefocusing on the one. So are you
ready? Let's go.
(01:23):
Hello. Hello. So we need to talkmindset and we need to shift to
long game versus this short game.Quick win Best approach.
Although I am all about takingbold action and we are going to
do that in this episode. It isone step at a time, but we have
to think about the long game sothat we can figure out what that
(01:45):
one step is. So how do thesesmall, tiny changes make big,
bold actions? And actuallycreate sustainable momentum for
your podcast and your business?Well, we have to start looking
at the definition of what Icalled bold. Any action you take
to move your business forward isbold. It doesn't mean that you
(02:09):
have to come up with an entirebusiness plan. Write out your
whole content strategy. Record50 messages, do this, be in
every DM, do all those things. That is not necessarily bold. It
feels bold because it'soverwhelming. But bold doesn't
have to mean overwhelming. Itdoesn't have to be time
consuming. It doesn't have to begrandiose. We want to focus on
(02:32):
those small, purposeful movesthat can create a powerful
ripple. Case in point One of theamazing ladies inside the Bold
Action Collective. We were on acall and she had not put her
podcast out yet. And I was like, okay, everyone, I'm putting you
all on silent and you're goingto record your trailer right now.
(02:54):
I made her record it. I did theedit, I sent it back to her and
I made her start her podcastthat day. It took that one bold
action. It took collectivelybetween the two of us, maybe
like 30 minutes total. And shegot started and now she is
making her way through this. That's the ripple. That's the
ripple that turns into thistsunami. So why we want to think
(03:16):
of the long game with thesequick wins is that a lot of the
time we're chasing thatovernight success and that is
leading to some massiveoverwhelm and burnout. And
that's why only 14% ofpodcasters sadly make it. That's
a huge failure rate and it'sbecause we're trying to get that
(03:37):
quick win. Quick when quick Whenmy downloads aren't going up,
this isn't happening. The ROI inmy business isn't going up. And
we're forgetting that these longgame actions is what's actually
going to show up because we'reso used to social media and that
quick hit of dopamine that says,Hey, there was likes and
engagement and whatever, but wehave to take these small steps.
(03:59):
It takes one step to get athousand miles. You have to keep
taking that one step. And that'swhy we want to talk about these
like quick wins. But these quickactions versus a win. So as
you're going slow and steady, Iknow that it's burnt out, the
tortoise and the hare, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But it's
true. So consistent, boldactions like reaching out to one
(04:22):
of your dream guests, maybepushing record for once, maybe
letting an episode go out not soperfect, but to make sure that
it gets done. We get better eachtime we make a new episode. You
know, you have to dream biggerand you have to take these small
steps if you want that biggerimpact over time. So someone
(04:44):
that again, like I was saying, Irecorded 15 minutes, 20 minutes.
We got her podcast out. But aswe're going through this, here's
what happened. She took thatmassive action. We went to a
giant podcasting event and shewas able to be a featured author
because she took that fastaction step. That thing that
(05:07):
took 15 to 20 minutes, took 5minutes of her time, 15 minutes
of my time. It moved theirpodcast and business forward.
It's about seeing that quick hitmake those big changes. So I
really want you to startredirecting your thoughts of
like, Oh my goodness, yes, weneed to think big picture. What
(05:29):
do you want in six months, ayear, five years? But we really
need to break that down intothese micro steps because what I
see happen so much, especiallywith podcast, is it's like, okay,
now we have a podcast wherewe're recording it, we're
getting it out consistentlyevery week. Now I've got to
market this thing. And then whatI'm seeing is with these AI
(05:49):
softwares and with all theseother things that, Hey, I fell
into this trap too. I absolutely, absolutely love capture for my
AI. But what happened for me isthat there's so much goodness
that comes out of it. I tried toshow up on all the platforms.
I'm like, Oh, I can do techtalks, I can do reals, I can do
static post, I can do stories, Ican be on Facebook. Oh, look, it
(06:11):
has LinkedIn articles, blogarticles. Now I've got to tweak
all this content. Now I'mpulling little clips from my
podcast and what happens is thisrepurposing becomes so
overwhelming that you stop doinganything and you stop showing up.
So I encourage you to starttaking these smaller steps this
(06:31):
week. Maybe it's pitching yourdream guest. Do you even have a
pitch ready? Okay, maybe youdon't have a pitch ready.
Research them 15 minutes one day, research your guest 15 minutes
the next day. Think of a coupleof topics you want them to come
talk about or you want to be ontheir show for whether you're
pitching or you're wanting topitch your show. Then start
(06:53):
writing your pitch. Take 15minutes every day and perfect
that pitch. And then on dayseven, send it. You know, maybe
that's recording a mini episodebecause you're so far behind and
you're like, I'm just going toskip this week, record a quick
hit. I don't care what it is. Ifyou're someone who's a spiritual
mentor or you're somebody whodoes one of the practices that
(07:16):
you can do tapping meditation,do a quick hit exercise, Here is
a five minute get back into yourbody exercise. Here's a quick
hit on how to get your podcastto grow. Here's a quick hit on
how to move this forward. 5minutes and then don't spend a
lot of time over editing. Get itin, get it out, get it scheduled.
(07:37):
Yes. I want you to do someresearch. I want you to get that
audio. But remember, withpodcasting, it's forgiving and
we can go back. So if you recordit again, I don't want you
recording from your phone andwithout any sort of mic or
headset or anything, because itsounds terrible. We still have
to think of the listenersexperience, but it doesn't have
to be so edited down and crazy. There are so many cool softwares
(08:01):
out there for the independentindie podcaster that can truly
help you where you don'tnecessarily need to be a sound
engineer hiring somebody like mein my production business. Yeah,
I'll go through. I'll make sureyou sound good. I'll make sure
that everything's you know,leveled correctly. I'll make
sure it's mixed and mastered theway a professional would do it.
But you don't need to do that. You do, however, have to think
(08:24):
about the listeners experience. If you're hearing clicks and
wind and scratches and all ofthat and your levels are going
from low, low to blowing outpeople's eardrums, not going to
work. So you do have to do that. But take that quick hit. What is
that quick thing you can do in15 minutes to move your podcast
forward? Maybe that's creating apost and somewhere that you show
(08:46):
up, maybe that's reaching out tofive people in DMS and just
having a conversation with themand starting that up so that
they see when you post in yourstories that you have a new
episode so bold action againdoesn't require a full work day.
You don't even have to have anhour. But if you can start micro
stacking these micro tasks up,you're still moving forward. At
(09:11):
the journey of a thousand milestakes one step. Take the one
step. So what is the next thingthat your podcast needs right
now? Today? Does it need anotherguest? Does it need you to spend
15 minutes getting in DMS? Doesit need to spend 15 minutes
actually sitting down andplanning your next episode? Does
it need 15 minutes to promote itin your stories? Does it need 15
(09:34):
minutes to do whatever? And oneof the things that I suggest,
because I have fallen into thiswith the repurposing where
you're constantly pulling clipsout of your show, it is so much
easier to record your episode. Here's a bonus step, record your
episode, and then as soon asyou're done recording, pick up
your phone and record a real ora tick. Talk about the
highlights from that episode andinvite them in to the podcast.
(09:57):
It is so much faster than havingto find the right clip, having
it sound weird, having to, youknow, add a hook and an outro
and all that stuff. If you justrecord new native content for
that platform. And that's what Ithink we missed out on, is so
many people just say, pull clips, pull clips, pull clips, let I
pull clips. They are notproducing the results that you
(10:20):
want. You will have much betterresults if you actually record
your episode. As soon as thisstops, I'm going to pick up my
phone and I'm going to do aquick hit about what I just
talked to you about, and thenI'm going to do an invite and if
you want to listen to the fullepisode, go see it on the show.
And then what'll happen is I'llupload it into either tech talk
or to a reel and I will putcaptions on it and maybe some
(10:41):
transitions and boom, I'm done.So it took me 5 minutes. Whereas
if I have to do all this otherrepurposing stuff, it's going to
take even longer. And again, there's times and places for
repurposing, but they're notreally working great. You can
also pick up your phone and gointo your stories and say, Oh my
goodness, I'm so excited. I justrecorded this episode about this,
this a mess. I can't wait for itto drop next week. Great. Save
(11:04):
that and then you can keepadding to it and use that
excitement. It's so much easierthan than we're making it out to
be. And I think that we've overrepurposed things and that is
why we get so burnt out. So Ireally encourage you to take
bold, small actions. What is itthat you are going to do? So if
(11:25):
you are super stuck and you'relike, I don't know how to take
bold actions, I don't know howto do this, and you really want
some place where you can takebold actions. You can have group
support, you can have me assupport. You need to join the
Bold Action Collective. What wedo is we meet every week on Zoom.
(11:48):
You get 20 minutes of hotseatcoaching for your business,
whether that's your business, your podcast coming up with
clarity, getting out of a rut,we actually focus and create a
plan that's based on yourbusiness. And it's not just me.
Yes, you get my fire hoseapproach, but you also have the
collective and there issomething magical about being
able to bounce your ideas off of37 plus women. Yes, there's 37
(12:14):
of us right now. We don't allshow up on the call. Don't worry.
We're not there all day long. But you can take action. And
then in between, if you arestuck, you can pop in the group,
ask the question, and everyonethere is truly there to support
one another and help each otherrise. And I absolutely love this.
It's one thing that I've missedin all the memberships and
(12:35):
masterminds. It seems likeeverybody preaches at me all the
ways that it should be, and theynever fit in my business. This
one is actually we listen to you,we help you for what works for
you. And of course there's techtrainings. If something tech
comes up that I know how tosupport you with or somebody in
the group knows how to supportyou with, we create that tech
(12:56):
support for you. As soon as thecall's over and we work through
it together. You don't have todo this alone. You don't have to
feel like you're lost. You don'thave to feel overwhelmed. You
can make a strategy that fitsyour way. So if you want to join
us, go to the Bold ActionCollective dot com or the
information is in the show notesbecause you know what? You
(13:18):
deserve to have your story andyour gifts out in the world. You
have enough, you are enough, youare worthy and somebody needs to
hear what you have to say. So goout. Makes it amazing because
you are beautiful, you arewonderful, you are worthy, and
your story deserves a microphoneand some listeners to hear it.
(13:40):
All right. See you next week.
