Empty promises are the promises you make but don’t fulfill them. This is something I’ve really struggled with in the past. I would always show up for other people and keep my word if I promised someone else something, but when it came to myself… it was a different story

Point 1. Why do we make promises that we don’t keep

  1. Most times its fear, procrastination, and self-doubt
  2. We know what we said, we know what needs to get done in order to keep that promise to ourselves, but we just don’t do it

Point 2: The effects of empty promises

  1. LACK OF TRUST WITHIN YOURSELF!
  2. You’re creating a track record of automatic failure
  3. You let your excuses and fear win

Point 3: How to overcome this habit

  1. Whenever excuses come up, recognize that it’s an excuse and laugh at yourself for trying to chicken out
  2. Whenever fear arises, remind yourself that never trying is worse than failing while giving it a shot, because then you ultimately learn a lesson
  3. Write the promises that you make to yourself down on a piece of paper and make a progress chart or put it somewhere in your room so you can see it everyday and remind yourself that you made the promise
  4. You have to practice and exercise fulfilling promises to yourself just like you would a muscle. It takes time so be patient
