Speaker 1 (00:00):
Star Wars is so gay already.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Okay, this is more out.

Speaker 3 (00:03):
I think it's canon that RGD two is a lesbian.

Speaker 4 (00:05):
The NYPD is now preparing to revoke former President Trump's
permit to carry a gun.

Speaker 5 (00:11):
Shout out to the guy who was staring at me
like staring you down in the bookstore for the last
ten minutes and then he went black girl magic.

Speaker 6 (00:18):
Star Wars is gay. Now the NYPD is taking Trump's
guns away a Missouri restaurant. Bands young people and white
saviors are simply out of control on TikTok all this
and so much more is coming up on today's episode

(00:40):
of Brad Versus Everyone, my daily series where I take
on the craziest ideas from across the Internet and across
our politics from a center right independent perspective. If you're
new here, please consider subscribing and sticking around, and don't
forget to hit that like button and comment with your
thoughts as we go along. I do read the comments
and I pick a few to respond to you in

(01:00):
every episode. So up, first, we've got to talk about
Star Wars because the series is back in the news
over some culture war nonsense. Yet again. Now I have
pretty much stopped following the Star Wars universe. I've watched
a few of the recent things. I did like The
Mandalorian for example, But I used to be somewhat of

(01:20):
a fan. I really liked the prequels. Actually I know,
shoot me, but maybe I was just simping for Hayden Christiansen. Anyway, though,
in recent years, it feels like Star Wars has gone
into identity politics mode and really leaned in. And they're
now promoting a new streaming series called The Acolyte that
takes place in the Star Wars universe and is about

(01:41):
the Jedi, and apparently it's extremely gay or something. I'm
gonna play you a clip from an interview The Rap
did with the star of the show and the showrunner
of the show.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
I want to ask you both because this is I
would say, arguably the gayest Star Wars and by a
considerable margin. And are you excited about that?

Speaker 6 (02:01):
Are you? Stars?

Speaker 2 (02:05):
It's pretty gay? Let's be honest, Leslie, are you how
do you feel?

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Am I gay?

Speaker 5 (02:11):
No?

Speaker 2 (02:11):
I know you are gay, But I'm asked, are you
excited about putting this? You know this is going to
be a talking point?

Speaker 5 (02:16):
Is it going to be a talking.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
I'm sure because nerds are gay.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Some nerds are very not gay and are very threatened.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
By Well that's true, but in my world nerds are gay.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Is this the fun element of no?

Speaker 6 (02:30):
I don't think so.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
And yet people have told me that it's the gayest
Star Wars and I'm frankly.

Speaker 7 (02:37):
Into it.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
I think that Star Wars is so gay already. Okay,
I mean, have you seen the shits We'd be like,
look how gay this is and then send each other
a reference.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
And are you telling me with a straight face that
C three po is straight?

Speaker 2 (02:52):
They're a couple. That's what I think. This is more out.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
I think it's canon that R two D two is
is a lesbian.

Speaker 6 (03:00):
Oh huh, So this did not go over well on Twitter.
If you care more about sexuality than storytelling, you should
be making porn, not Star Wars. Why is sexuality so
important in a Star Wars show? Next headline, why isn't
anyone watching the Acolyte? Do you not care about the

(03:21):
story at all or just the possible porn? So I
will say that just because it has gay characters or
gay storylines doesn't mean it's going to be pornographic. But
the sentiment of these Twitter comments I can partially relate to.
I have nothing against there being some gay characters or
maybe a gay romance storyline and one of these series somewhere,
but it doesn't need to be so blatant and so

(03:44):
forced into something that's really not about that, like come
on R two D two as a lesbian. I think
she was somewhat joking, but it does kind of reveal
where her mind frame is at. But what's actually so
interesting to me is that this woman, Leslie Haslund, the
creator and showrunner for this show, is leaning into this

(04:04):
identity politics angle, but as is so often the case,
it might be a smoke screen of sorts. You see,
Leslie worked as the personal assistant to Harvey Weinstein for
many years, leading to a lot of backlash and people
questioning online did she know anything? How could she have
been someone's personal assistant for four years and not observed

(04:27):
or seen or spoken out about any of this stuff?
And many of these criticisms are coming from Star Wars
fans who lean to the left. Of course, I'm sure
they don't want to talk about that. They don't want
scrutiny into that actually interesting and potentially problematic connection and criticism,
so they just will throw identity politics try to placate
a progressive audience, but honestly, I don't think it's working anymore. Look,

(04:50):
I'm sure some conservative commentators will get apoplectic about this
and make a big deal out of it and be
all outraged. I find that to be excessive and over
the top. But I will just say it's cringe and
the show looked somewhat interesting to me, but now I'm
not really sure I'm going to bother to watch it.
To be honest, even as a gay person, I don't

(05:12):
like feeling pandered too in this obvious and blatant and
cringe worthy way. Like, maybe just focus on making a
good story, a good series that's actually gripping television and
entertainment for everyone, and spend less time worrying about what
niche tumblr categories your characters will all fit into. But hey,

(05:33):
what do I know? I'm not a woke Hollywood executive
and I've certainly never worked for Harvey Weinstein. What do
you guys think? How did this interview go over with you?
And does it make you more or less likely to
want to watch this show? Let me know in the
comment and if you have seen the first few episodes.
The show came out on June fourth, I believe, let
me know if it was good. Should I give it

(05:53):
a chance anyway? Or is it just more cringe woke, pandering,
virtue signaling stuffed entertainment. So now let's talk about Donald Trump, who,
after being convicted on felony charges in a New York case,
is now being stripped of his Second Amendment rights.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
The NYPD is now preparing to revoke former President Trump's
permit to carry a gun. It comes after his conviction
in New York last week. I'm thirty four felony charges.
Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon is a
federal crime.

Speaker 6 (06:20):
Shouldn't be? I mean, think about it like this, guys,
whether you think he's guilty or not. And I've already
given you my take on this, but we can agree
to disagree. If you support this conviction, that's fine. It's
a case about bookkeeping offenses, whether he improperly reported and
categorized payments that were made to pay somebody off. Even
if that is a crime, and it is a felony

(06:40):
and he does deserve to be convicted, why on earth
would they need to revoke his gun permit. Now, I
understand that that's what's required under the relevant laws, but
those laws are immoral. Self defense is a fundamental human right.
The Second Amendment just enshrines that right into our constitution
and into our laws, and to take somebody ability to

(07:00):
defend themselves. Now, in Trump's case, he'll be fine, right,
he can hire security and all that, But it's really
more about the principle here. To strip somebody of their
human right to defend themselves in our legal system over
a book keeping offense, not something where somebody was harmed.
There was no victim in this crime. To strip someone
of their Second Amendment rights for that is totally indefensible. Now,

(07:21):
like I said, Trump will be fine, I'm more concerned
about the principle at stake here and all the everyday
people who somewhere along the line in their life might
have run a foul of the lab and convicted of
a felony, and now they lose their human rights. To
be clear, it would be a different conversation if we
were only talking about violent felonies. I'm open to the
argument that somebody who's violently assaulted somebody shouldn't be allowed

(07:45):
to carry a gun after they're out of jail, although
there's also the argument that if there's still a danger,
they shouldn't have been released in the first place. And
if they have been released, they've served their time and
their punishment is supposed to be complete. But we can
at least have a conversation about that right. I see
some validity there, but the idea that we would be
taking people's gun rights away, they are fundamental rights to
defend themselves from criminals who are often armed over nonviolent felonies.

(08:10):
He's totally bonkers. I hope Trump challenges it and argues
it's unconstitutional and that the Supreme Court strikes it down.
But what do you guys think? Let me know in
the comments. Up next, we've got a controversy in Missouri
where a restaurant has decided to ban young people. Let's
check out some local coverage from TMJ four News.

Speaker 7 (08:30):
Upscale Restaurant is in Florid, Missouri, and it is looking
cooking up. I should say, some controversy on social media
because it has an age restriction.

Speaker 8 (08:40):
Okay, so women must be at least thirty years old
and men have to be at least thirty five to
get it to bliss. Yes, must show their IDs to
the hostess before being seated after seven pm Wednesday through Sunday.
What a yowner says her restaurant is something for older
people to come enjoy happy hour old okay, and not

(09:01):
have to worry about the drama that the younger crowdbrings. Okay.
So I have seen this though with clubs when you
have to be like thirty plus, right, But I've never
seen like where it's thirty for the women thirty five
for their men.

Speaker 7 (09:14):
I don't know what that's possible to say, Like, what
are you.

Speaker 8 (09:16):
Trying to say, younger crowds under thirty five?

Speaker 5 (09:21):
What are we doing?

Speaker 7 (09:22):
But that was a very instagrammable spot. Yeah, it was
very pretty got it And there are some there are
some clubs and stuff around here that do this as well.
I have a certain age and it's generally well over
twenty one.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Yeah, and I get it to an extent because you know,
with me at my age, I don't want to go
to a club and party with all the young ones
who just turned twenty one. So I get that aspect.
But at the same time, you know, I got some
family members who are over thirty five, who cause a
lot of drama.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Out there exactly.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
We can't really put an age on that.

Speaker 6 (09:50):
So my first thought when I saw this was, is
this legal and malpractice alert. I'm not a lawyer, but
from what I could tell from a Google search, age
is a protected category into crimination for employment in Missouri,
but not for public accommodation. So you can discriminate on
the basis of age in your store or your restaurant
or what have you. And I think it's totally fine.

(10:11):
I would personally be banned because I'm not old enough
to get in under these rules, but that's fine. I'll
just go somewhere else. And I think it's perfectly legitimate
for businesses to set rules. I'm sure a lot of
gen z online will be triggered by this, but businesses
are allowed to have rules. And if they want to
limit the crowd to older adults who don't want to
be around partying young people or screaming kids, I mean,

(10:34):
I think that's fine. There's plenty of other places y'all
can go. Now, what I will say is that boomers
can't start crying and being hypocrites if they support stuff
like this. If we want to have a bar where
thirty five and under thirty and under no boomers, it
does have to go both ways. But personally, I don't
think there's anything wrong with this. I really don't. The

(10:56):
one thing I would question is the disparity between the
men and the women. I get that, to be honest,
women do mature faster than men on average, but I
don't really think there should be different standards. And you'd
think by thirty both agenders would hopefully at least be
fully mature. But what's your take on all this? Let
me know in the comments. Are you triggered by it?

(11:17):
Would you do something similar at your business? Would you
patronize someplace like this? I do want to hear from you.
And now it's time for Brad versus TikTok, where I
take on the craziest videos from across the clock app.
Don't forget to subscribe if you're new here and hit
that like button as we go along if you're enjoying
this video. And now let's take a look at a

(11:39):
TikTok where a black woman describes her encounter with a
woke white savior shout.

Speaker 5 (11:45):
Out to the guy who was staring at me, like
staring you down in the bookstore for the last ten minutes,
and then finally just came up to me and said,
I love your cultural garb. It's so unapologetically black. And
then I said, oh, and then he went, black girl Magic,

(12:20):
these are crocs. Wearing crocs. I'm gonna go home. Yeah,
that's it for the tame.

Speaker 6 (12:33):
She's literally just wearing normal clothes and crocs and he's like,
I love your unapologetically black clothes, Black Girl Magic. Oh
my god, the cringe. Now, she didn't explicitly say that
this was a white man, but honestly, I'd be willing
to bet my retirement savings, not that that's a lot,
to be honest on the fact that this was a

(12:54):
woke white male feminist liberal. They really are so cringe
and they've just got to be stopped. These woke white saviors,
especially on TikTok, must be stopped. There's something so condescending
about it too. Black Girl Magic, like she's not a girl,
she's a woman, And there's just something so condescending about

(13:15):
the white liberals saying like, oh, you're such a good, little,
oh so special little black girl. Oh yes, good job,
keep it up. Like, can we just treat people as people?
Why do we have to keep taking this identity obsessed
approach to everything? And it's funny to me because these
people will literally get offended by Halloween costumes or tell
you that like a minor verbal tick is offensive, is

(13:37):
a microaggression or something, but then do this kind of woke,
condescending stuff that if I was a black person I
would actually find so slightly offensive at least. All right, everybody,
I'll leave it there for that one, but let me
know what you think in the comments below, And now
before we wrap up today's show, I'll read a few
of your comments from the last episode. One person says,

(13:58):
I agree with the liberty point of view. If there
is no victim, then it shouldn't be a crime. Yeah.
I wouldn't say this with one hundred percent absolutism. I'm
sure there are some scenarios where something doesn't have a
direct victim but should be criminal, But as a general
articulation of first principles, I think it's a good point.
Another person says, not gonna lie, I thought pigtails? Was

(14:21):
you doing a skit? Get that? Every time I react
to one of this dude's videos, and y'all it is
not a compliment. Another person says, I can't say anything
about the robio's closings because I feel fish and tacos
should never be allowed to go together. Yeah, I mean,
I don't eat any fish that that is nasty. If
it comes out of the ocean, it is not going
near my mouth. But I guess it should still be

(14:43):
open and not be forced into closing for you heathens
who do enjoy that disgusting kind of food. Another person says,
Brad versus everyone just isn't true. We are with you, Brad.
Thank you. I appreciate that. And I guess the name
is more based on how I feel sometimes in our
political climate. Is I really do feel like I'm just
on my own island over here, screaming against the voyage

(15:05):
and surrounded by all these crazy people to my left
and to my right. So that's what the name is
supposed to signify, not that literally everyone disagrees with me. Brad.
You said, pride is just feeling good about your accomplishments
for justifiable reasons. How is being born with certain sexual
desires and identity amount to an accomplishment? Well, firstly, I
was talking about pride more generally and why it's not

(15:26):
always a bad thing or sinful. But even as applied
to LGBT pride, the accomplishment is not your sexual orientation.
Just being gay is not an accomplishment. The accomplishment that
people feel is the adversity they've overcome to accept themselves,
to live their best life, to embrace this fact about
themselves through the self hatred, through the familial rejection, through

(15:49):
the social stigma that they've had to overcome, and then
to come out on the other end of it and
be unapologetically yourself. They feel proud of having reached that
place because it's not easy. Most of us spent years
trying to convince ourselves we weren't gay or change ourselves
and then struggled with it in different ways with family
or friends or even just internally. So what they're proud

(16:12):
of is having come through that. They're proud of the
resilience and the self acceptance. It's not that literally, just
being gay is something to be proud of. Obviously, it's
not an accomplishment, But I hope that helps explain what
I'm trying to articulate there. Another person says, I would
really love to see you and doctor Peterson have a
sit down conversation. I think it'd be quite enlightening to
see you argue and clarify your points. There's always a

(16:33):
lot to learn from a good argument between two people
willing to really listen to one another. I believe you
can keep up with Jordan in an argument and bring
a perspective to a debate with them that maybe we
haven't seen before.

Speaker 5 (16:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (16:44):
I would be totally willing to do that. I might
not be a big enough name to really be on
his radar. Though, another person says the comments are being
heavily edited here, I am unsubscribing. This is a channel
that is not open to different points of view. Well,
that's definitely not true. I am open, and guys, I
don't edit the comments almost at all. I think I've

(17:05):
deleted maybe one, two or three on these in this
series where people have threatened violence or something. So if
comments are being edited, that's by YouTube, not me. Just
so y'all know, all right, everybody, That is it for
today's episode of Brad Versus. Everyone, thanks so much for
joining me and tuning in. Please make sure you're subscribed

(17:26):
and don't get to hit that like button. On your
way out and comment with your thoughts. I do read
the comments, and I pick a few to respond to
in every episode. With that, we'll talk again tomorrow.
