Speaker 1 (00:00):
Doge cuts killed those girls in the flood. That's it.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
If you voted for Trump, you actively voted for those
girls in Texas to die being swept away by that flood.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Liberal influencers and TikTok stars are spreading misinformation and exploiting
the death of kids to attack Trump online. We're going
to break this down, plus so much more on today's
episode of The Barad Versus Everyone podcast, my daily show
(00:30):
where we take on the craziest ideas from across the Internet,
our media, and our politics, all from an independent perspective.
Up first, guys, we are going to talk about the
tragic floods that took place in Texas over the weekend,
where dozens of people were killed. There's this really horrible
story about a camp for little girls that was suddenly flooded,
(00:53):
and many of the girls are missing or were killed.
Many were rescued, but it's heartbreaking stuff. I will include
a link to a fundraiser for their families in the description.
But because it's twenty twenty five and because everything is
just terrible, we're going to have to talk about the
pretty intense politicization and exploitation of this tragedy across social media.
(01:17):
This time, though, this does happen on either side, from
left of center influencers seeking to blame this all on Trump,
elon Musk, the Department of Government Efficiency and the cuts
they made to certain services in the federal government, and
sort of just shaming Texans for the fact that many,
(01:38):
although certainly not all of them, voted for Trump in
the first place. It's really been an absolute cluster of
a new cycle, and we're going to break it down. First, guys,
let me read you this tweet from the editor in
chief of the massive liberal podcast network and YouTube network
Midas Touch. He wrote, the people in Texas voted for
(01:59):
government and services controlled by Donald Trump and Greg Abbott.
That is exactly what they are getting.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Wow. Just wow.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
The complete lack of empathy, compassion for your fellow citizens,
the total ignorance as if all of Texas voted for Trump.
Of course, even no matter how someone voted, none of
this is deserved or getting your comuppins or anything like that.
But even if you had that twisted logic to think
that these little girls at a summer camp were somehow,
(02:32):
you know, oh, Trump supporters or anything like that is
just not true. And it is just really twisted. This
is why you don't let partisanship, wrote your brain, guys,
And this was just an entire genre. This was an
example I saw on Twitter, but this was across social media.
That's almost gloating about this tragedy because it happened to
a red state that did vote for Trump by a
(02:53):
significant majority. Here's a TikTok video from one woke white
woman who wrote on her caption have the day you
voted for This is actually some evil stuff.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Guys.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Take a look at this video.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
Hey, they're Texas web along face. Well, you know, right
now we're having record break and flooding and it's destroying
our state and it's killing people and our officials they
didn't even tell us what was gonna happen. Well, yeah,
I mean most of you voted for Trump and the
first thing that he told you he was gonna do
was dismantle the National Weather Service And Noah, what's that now? Well, yeah,
(03:26):
most of Texas voted for Donald Trump and the first
thing he did was dismantled the National Weather Service And Noah,
just like he said he would. And they're the ones
who are responsible for predicting and warning people about flooding.
And hurricanes and tornadoes and well weather. And they also
cut FEMA two, so you're not gonna get any aid either.
The what the who? What are you saying? Well, I mean,
(03:49):
I'm saying you're getting exactly what you voted for. You know,
it's actually kind of ironic because Noah built the arc
to save people from flooding, and Noah told everyone when
floods were happening, so they were prepared. What a weird
sign from God, right, But at least the borders closed.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Oh h, let's recap flooding. Devastating, sudden, unexpected, insane levels
of flooding happen in Texas. A camp for little girls
is swept away and many are killed, many are missing,
(04:28):
parents are distraught. So many innocent people are caught up
in a natural disaster. And you make a skit on
TikTok mocking Texans as ignorant rubes getting what they voted for,
while yourself pushing complete misinformation that we will debunk later
in this podcast and casting aspersions on them, and even
(04:50):
I guess perhaps tongue in cheeks suggesting well, this is
God signed to you. You're sick. Seek help? Seriously, like
the level of compassion deficit it required to engage in
this kind of rhetoric is genuinely sociopathic. This person belongs
on a list somewhere, and this has half a million
(05:10):
views on TikTok and tens of thousands of likes, and
it really it chills my soul a little bit that
people could actually see content like this and be like, yes, queen,
go off, not like WTF, what are you doing? That
would be the appropriate response, But we don't have a
lot of those around these parts social media these days.
(05:31):
Appropriate responses to tragedies, we're all so quick to exploit them.
Not that this is an exclusively liberal phenomenon, I mean,
you saw Republicans do this kind of thing with Hurricane
Helene under Biden and other sorts of things. I will say, though,
I think it's something that left does more after any shooting,
After any tragedy, you'll have progressive voices and politicians and
(05:52):
the like hop on in and immediately find a way
to connect it to their pet political issue or their agenda,
or blame it on politicians they don't like. And I'll
that will never not be distasteful to me, although at
least in some cases the connections to policies they're trying
to make are actually like real or true, even if
they're disputable whether they would have helped, there's at least
(06:13):
like a real connection to be made there. That is
very much not the case in this instance, where these
Texas floods and the tragic aftermath of them had absolutely
nothing to do with Doge, with Trump cuts to the
National Weather Service or anything of this sort. But this
narrative went out and influencers picked it up and ran
(06:35):
with it, looking like the Olympics out in these digital streets,
and they just repeated this totally untrue talking point over
and over and over again. Take a look at this little,
handy little compilation I made so y'all didn't have to
sit through all the videos like I did. Here's some highlights,
or I guess I should say low lights if we're
(06:56):
being so for real.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Doge cuts killed those girls in the flood. That's it.
The Doge cuts that were responsible for predicting the weather
like we don't need Weather Service funding anymore, is responsible
for these girls die.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
I've sat in this exact seat talking to my phone
exactly how I'm doing now for the past six ten
maybe even a year at this point, screaming from the
rooftops that people would die, children would die if we
let Trump take office, if we let Doge make these cuts,
if we let Project twenty twenty five come into fruition,
and we're seeing it, We're seeing it in real time.
(07:32):
We are seeing it happen in Texas in real time.
You cannot accurately predict the weather when you got the
Weather services.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
If you voted for Trump, you actively voted for those
girls in Texas to die being swept away by that flood,
because your vote for Trump was also a vote to
take away the National Weather Services funding.
Speaker 6 (07:52):
So, and I know this may sound crazy, but I
do not think it was a universal coincidence that the
day that this man signed this horrible bill.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
That this happened.
Speaker 6 (08:06):
It was like the Universes show in tell As. Why
was a National Weather service unable to give you the
proper information? Or why was the NA unable to warn folks?
Could it be because we allowed a foreign national with
a bus off to start slashing budgets all willy nilly
with that public comment or professional consultation.
Speaker 7 (08:27):
They gutted the National Weather Service. They fucking gutted the
National Weather Service, and now dozens of camp children are
probably now dozens of Central Texas residents.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Are now missing or gone.
Speaker 7 (08:46):
I've seen one clip of a camp bunk building floating
down the river with kids screaming at the top of
their lungs.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
That was enough for me. That was enough for me.
Speaker 7 (09:00):
Every Republican that's gonna have the audacity to scream, don't
make this political. How dare y'all make this political? Everything
is political right now? This was a totally and completely
avoidable tragedy.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Well, guys, you heard it yourself from our resident expert
here of unhinged TikTok lady. This was totally preventable tragedy,
and it only happened because Republicans voted for Trump and
he cut the National Weather Service. And also, I love
the weird like hippie fufu mumbo jumbo about like the
big beautiful bill timing like girl, put down the tarot cards. Okay,
(09:39):
you had enough for the day. This all, of course,
just has the unfortunate side effect of being totally untrue.
It's simply not true whatsoever that doge cuts, whatever you
think of them, had any effect on this. Oh and
by the way, guys, it's not just influencers on social
media politicizing this tragedy, running with this narrative that, as
(10:01):
you will come to see, is not substantiated by facts.
Blaming Trump and dosee cuts and all this sort of stuff.
The official Democratic Party did this. In the tweet, they wrote, reminder,
the staffing shortages at the National Weather Services San Angelo
and San Antonio offices doubled the Trump administration. These jobs
are meant to coordinate disaster response and save lives. The
(10:23):
implication of this tweet is pretty clear to me. They're
saying Trump's cuts contributed to this. That is not true.
I'm going to walk you through the actual facts of
this story. First, we're going to hear from a meteorologist
on TikTok explaining that part of the reason you can't
blame the Trump cuts for this one. As you'll see,
the cuts didn't actually affect this particular situation. But even
(10:46):
if they had, this particular instance of flooding was so rare,
was so extreme, was so sudden that not even the
best funded, best staffed, most sophisticated technology we have could
have really prevented this tragedy. He explains in this video tigalism.
Speaker 8 (11:02):
I'm a meteorologist. I've been forecasting in Texas for twenty
five years. First things first, all of our thoughts should
be with the families of these little babies, these little
girls who were at camp who got swept away by
this unforeseeable, unimaginable, basically a tsunami of flooding from the
(11:25):
Guadalupe River. It was a freak event. So let me
just summarize it for you. Did the Weather Service do
a fantastic job with this, No, it wasn't an a
plus job, and I would hope that they would admit
that it was not an a plus job that all
that being said, is it their fault that this happened? Absolutely,
(11:46):
not a million percent.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
No.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
They did what they could with all.
Speaker 8 (11:50):
The information they had. There were flood watches up, there
were flood warnings that were issued when necessary. Local media
out there conveyed the threat for flooding three to six
inches of rain. I don't think anybody could have foreseen
a river rising twenty feet or twenty five feet in
(12:11):
an hour or something the way it did. It's a
freak event. It's what people call a black swan event.
It's not anything that could be foreseen. Unfortunately. So am
I happy about budget cuts for Noah and the Weather Service.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
No, it's terrible. It shouldn't happen. It's a mistake.
Speaker 8 (12:29):
Okay, it's a bad mistake. Do I think it had
anything to do with this the fatalities in Kerville?
Speaker 6 (12:37):
No.
Speaker 8 (12:37):
And I hope that everybody out there who's laughing at
the deaths of the children and you know, stomping on
their graves because they hate Donald Trump, you're sick.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
I hope you get help.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
So when you have this kind of black Swan event,
you can't prevent it. It's one of those things that
can just happen. And it really sounds as if from
the actual experts on the ground, even ones who oppose
the cuts in question, even ones who are not fans
of Trump, that there was no level of staffing or
(13:06):
anything that could have really allowed them to catch this
and stop when the surge was so extreme in these
specific locations. Now, the other aspect here, a factual reality
that all these TikTok narratives completely and utterly ignore, is
that the Weather Service actually had extra staffers when all
(13:26):
this went down. So staffing shortages and cuts, while that
is a bigger picture issue going on in the background
did not affect this particular incident. Here is the Associated Press.
The National Weather Service office in New bron Folds, which
delivers forecasts for Austin, San Antonio and the surrounding areas,
had extra staff on duty during the storms. Where the
(13:47):
office would typically have two forecasters on duty. During clear weather,
they had up to five on staff. There were extra
people in here that night, and that's typical in every
Weather Service office. You staff up front of event and
bring people in on overtime and hold people over, an
insider said. Even Politico, which is a mainstream news outlet
(14:08):
but has a left leaning bias, if anything, documented extensive
reporting suggesting that the cuts did not play a role here.
Political rights, these cuts and shortages may not have been
a factor here. From the Texas Tribunes Paul Cobbler, the
NWS forecasting offices were operating normally at the time of
the disaster, said Greg Waller, service coordinator hydrologist with the
(14:29):
NWS West Gulf River Forecast Center in Fort Worth. We
had adequate staffing, we had adequate technology. Waller said. This
was us doing our job to the best of our abilities.
Another source told The Tribune that the current staffing levels
were adequate to issue timely forecasts and warnings before and
during the emergency. Meanwhile, they also quote Matt Lanza, who
(14:51):
is a critic of the National Weather Service cuts. He said,
quote in this particular case, we have seen absolutely nothing
to suggest that current staffing are by issues within NOAH
or the NWS played any role at all in this event.
Anyone using this event to claim that is being dishonest.
In fact, whether balloon launches played a vital role in
(15:11):
forecast messaging on Thursday night as the event was beginning
to unfold, If you want to go that route, use
this event as a symbol of the value NOAH and
NWS bring to society, understanding that as horrific as this is, yes,
it always could have been worse. In fact, this is
Politico and the Associated Press reporting here. The NWS did
send out warnings to officials and residents, including a series
(15:34):
of flash flood warnings in the early hours Friday, before
issuing flash flood Emergencies a rare alert notifying of eminent danger.
According to the Associated presses Sean Murphy and Jim Virtuno
at one eighteen pm month Thursday, the NWS issued an
initial floodwatch predicting five to seven inches of rain, kicking
off a series of bulletins that grew increasingly ominous in
(15:55):
the early hours mornings of Friday, culminating in an urgent
message at five three am warning of the potential of
catastrophic damage and a severe threat to human life. So look, guys,
this really does seem to be one of those situations
where influencers and activists are ignoring and distorting the facts
(16:18):
to push an agenda while bodies are still being found
of innocent, precious souls lost to a horrible natural disaster,
just because they want to attack Trump or they want
to attack Elon. And I just beg y'all to be
better than that and do better than that. Whether it's Trump,
whether it's Biden. Not everything is preventable, Not everything is
(16:40):
someone's fault. Rushing to blame people isn't the best impulse
after an absolute tragedy when you could be focusing efforts
on supporting the families involved. Now I'm not saying it's
off limits to talk about policies that are relevant or
preventative steps that were or were not taken, but that
(17:00):
should be done in a thoughtful way that it hears
too facts, not in a purely speculative way that just
makes logical leaps and jumps and stretches to find a
way to blame people for something with no real knowledge
or expertise or information from the people who are making
(17:20):
these accusations and these claims. They just want to blame Trump,
so they'll find a way to do it, and they
don't care that the facts are against them in this
particular instance. Now, look, that's not to say that Trump
and Elon's cuts to the National Weather Service are actually
a good idea. I don't know if they are. They could.
I mean, like many of the dose cuts, they don't
(17:41):
actually save that much money in the grand scheme of
the federal budget, and who knows, maybe they will have
serious consequences. I can't tell you that one way or another.
What I can tell you is that just looking into this,
even a little bit, reporting the actual facts, this incident
in Texas did not happen because of DOGE, did not
(18:03):
happen because of Elon. Musk did not happen because of
Trump gutting the National Weather Service. They were fully staffed up,
they worked to the best of their abilities. And this
was a once in a thousand years freak event that
couldn't have been prevented, not by President Trump, not by
President Kamala, not by anyone, And not everything has to
(18:24):
be a partisan witch hunt. Not everything has to be
a culture war issue. This is sickening and toxic stuff
and it's the kind of thing that worries me because
I honestly do think this kind of tribalism and blame
game that both sides do engage in, it really threatens
the fabric of our country. When we can't come together
(18:45):
and just support the families of these little girls that
were washed away in this horrific, unspeakable tragedy. Something is
broken and I'm really worried about that. Guys, But what
do you think? Let me know in the comments. I
will include a link to donate to a vetted charity
to help the families in the description. Let me know
(19:08):
what you think of all this. Have you seen this
narrative just spewing across social media and the mainstream media
as well. Do let me know in the comments. I
do take the time to read the comments. I really
do like here on what you guys have to say.
And make sure you subscribed. If you aren't yet, remember
to send in your voicemails with the voice note link
in the description of today's episode for our Voicemail Friday
(19:29):
episodes where I react to your wokhar stories, your personal
life situations where you want my advice, and I'll also
answer any questions you guys have for me, so send
those there as well. And with that, guys, so we're
going to talk a little bit on a slightly more
lighthearted note about the Fourth of July. I don't know
about y'all, but I had a nice Fourth of July.
We're down here in Miami. We don't really know anyone,
so it was just me and my partner, but we
(19:51):
still had a nice time. We saw some fireworks over
the water, and look, I think our country is messed
up in a lot of ways. But at the same time,
I'm incredibly grateful to have been born an American and
the freedom and prosperity that we enjoy. Social media, though
at least some very loud voices have a slightly different
(20:11):
take on the Fourth of July, including one woman who
is going megaviral because she suggested that the fourth of
July would be a great time for someone to assassinate Trump. Yes, seriously,
the TikTok people are still doing this. They're actually still
running with this. Let's take a listen to this demonic
(20:35):
little video.
Speaker 9 (20:36):
I hear they're holding a ceremony so that he can
sign this big beautiful villains a lot. Do you think
it's going to be outside. No, they wouldn't, but like
on the fourth of July, it would be a cool
time to do it. If anyone's like on the fence,
we would support you. That'd be real nice.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
Oh, she seems normal and stable. Police Secret Service, FBI,
We got another one for you. These people keep posting
this stuff on social media like we're all not gonna
(21:19):
see it, Like it's only going to hit the little
niche audience that's gonna be like, yes, queen, Although as
we've talked about, there's kind of widespread polling that shows
among young progressives this stuff is not that niche. They
actually support this, which is sad because I can't really
think of anything that would tear our country apart more
or cause more division or more violence, potentially more civil
(21:40):
unrest than a successful political assassination of a president. And
you would just get JD. Vance as president. So they
haven't thought this through. It's not clocking for them to
quote Justin Bieber and people who know they know. And
there's just something demonic about going on social media and
giggling about murder with such open bloodlust. Are these people okay?
Speaker 4 (22:07):
Like?
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Do they need to be I think some of them
need to be committed. That might be the only answer.
And imagine that's what you think about on the fourth
of July. You know, the rest of us are eating
like hot dogs made of god knows what and homegirls
out here fantasizing about Trump getting shot. You're not well,
seek help. I don't know what to say beyond that,
(22:29):
but at least you know that one's kind of sinister.
This next one's kind of funny. This is this anti
racist activist on TikTok that I follow who says that
the right way to celebrate Fourth of July is by
randomly giving black people money or something. Let's take a look.
Speaker 10 (22:51):
It's Fourth of July weekend. There's so much to celebrate, right, No,
there really isn't, because the truth of the more is
the freedom and independence that the Fourth July holiday is
supposed to represent. Never included all Americans or all people
in America. Right, So back in seventeen seventy six, black
folks were still enslaved. So that's not anything to celebrate.
(23:12):
So what I want to challenge you to do this weekend,
and you should really do this every single day if
you want to live in an anti racist lifestyle, but specifically
for this weekend. Instead of spending all your money on
the red, white, and blue everything, ask yourself, where am
I benefiting from the labor of black people and what
am I giving to them in return? Whether it's free labor,
unpaid labor like social media, or whether it's inequitable paid labor.
(23:37):
Where are you benefiting from labor from us? And what
are you giving in return? Usually, if it's for social media,
we give you specific directions on what to do after
you consume our content. So do that today. If you
are serious about investing in your anti racism education and
committed to living an anti racist lifestyle and learning how
to do that, I want to invite you to tap
(23:59):
that link on my pro file. Go to the link
wherever you see it, if it's in the comments or
if it's in my bio. I have so many options
for you to choose from today. I have my Patreon
community that you can join as so many different levels
to get access to different benefits.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
She's literally like, just give me money, gullible white libs.
Cash happened by you? The grivet is so transparent. How
do these gullible people who actually fall for this and
send Charlatan's like this money. How do they not see
that they're getting played? This is like they think of
(24:34):
the stripper really likes them, right, Like, this is like
the goofy old man who thinks, oh, she actually likes
me for me, not just because I have one hundred
dollars bill. Like I'm shook. I'm still shook by this video.
The first part. There's nothing to celebrate because America used
to be, you know, very messed up and unfair as
(24:57):
a society. But the point is that it's not anymore, babe, Like,
I don't know how to explain that to you. Yes,
when America was first founded, it was a deeply unequal
and flawed nation that discriminated against people, But it was
the birth of a nation with ideas about freedom and
us all being created equally under one, you know, system
(25:18):
of government that then evolved and became the freest and
most prosperous civilization in human history, large scale civilization at least,
So can you not follow that that it? No one
by celebrating July fourth. No one is seriously suggesting that
America was perfect at its founding. No, we all acknowledge
(25:38):
it was very messed up. But the seed was planted
for something beautiful and free. And now, I mean, look,
obviously our society still has problems. Is not a perfectly
equal and fair place. But I struggled to really think
of a better place in the world to be black
than America. The amount of opportunity you will have, the
(26:00):
amount of racism you will encounter. Have you been to Europe, babe?
Serious question, because when I hear from black people who
go to Europe, they don't have a great time in
lots of parts of Europe, Whereas, thankfully, most of this
country would never be openly racist to a black person,
and the few who would are a problem. But like,
(26:20):
I just don't understand this. The freedom that you enjoy
to be a grifter, to spew nonsense on social media,
all of that is uniquely an American. In other countries,
Advanced countries, the police will knock on your door over
a controversial tweet. And trust me, this lady posts some
controversial things when it comes to the palm colored people,
(26:42):
as I think she would call us. So there's just
a level of ingratitude here that I don't appreciate. And
then I'm sorry, but like, what is she talking about?
Make sure you if you want to First off, I
don't want to be anti racist, No thank you. I
want to be not racist, but I have no interest
in anti racism. That's like a deranged left wing philosophy.
(27:03):
My goal through life is to go through life being
not racist. It is not to do the anti racism
griff That is openly discriminatory in the opposite direction. The
authors behind it have said as much explicitly. No thanks,
I'm good on that one. But to her point, make
sure you are compensating the black people who's unpaid labor
(27:26):
you profit off of? What are you even talking about.
I don't profit off of anyone's unpaid labor. I don't
have any slaves. And if you're talking about social media,
you get paid for the views. The social media TikTok
pays people for the views they get, so it's not
(27:46):
unpaid labor. You're getting paid for the views that you earn.
It really seems like some of y'all are just desperate
to not have a real job, and you just want
to play the victim and bully gullible white people into
giving you money for no reason when you could, just,
like like most normal black people in America, grill up
(28:07):
some hot dogs and light some shit on fire to
celebrate the Fourth of July. Instead, we got grifters out
here doing the grift. And I'm just going to laugh
at it, because if I don't laugh, I might cry.
What do you guys think? Have you seen this kind
of thing before? Let me know in the comments. Do
make sure you subscribed if you aren't yet, remember to
(28:28):
check out the link in the description or another if
you want to find another source to help donate to
the families down in Texas. And with that, guys, we'll
leave it here for today's episode of the Barad Versus
Everyone Podcast. Thanks so much for tuning in, and we'll
talk again real soon
