The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and What Businesses Need to Know About This New Law

The CCPA doesn’t apply to everybody, but it goes into effect in 2020, and the penalties are harsh if you do not comply. • The attorney general is not going to bring any action until July 1st.
• You need to make a good faith effort to try and comply. You have 30 days to do so. The penalties will be less, but if you don’t even try to put regulations in place, the penalties will be so much more.
• If you have 1,000 employees and you ‘intentionally’ violate these regulations, you could be on the hook for $7.5 million.
