This was the beginning of our Chicago trip and we decided to see how this option might play out. The tempature was cool enough that we could sleep with windows open and a fan.

Here are Tips for staying at Cracker Barrel yourself.

Staying overnight at a Cracker Barrel in your RV can be a convenient and budget-friendly option during a road trip—but there are a few important things to know. Here are practical tips to make it a smooth experience:

🛑 1. Call Ahead or Ask In Person
• Not all Cracker Barrels allow overnight RV parking.
• Call the specific location or ask the manager politely when you arrive.
• A friendly, respectful approach goes a long way.

📍 2. Know Where to Park
• Most Cracker Barrels have designated RV/bus parking spots, often along the outer edge or rear of the lot.
• Park as far from the main entrance as possible to avoid disrupting regular customer flow.

🌙 3. One-Night Stay Only
• This is meant to be a short-term, one-night stay, not camping.
• No slides out (unless absolutely necessary), no awnings, no grills, and no leveling jacks on asphalt unless approved.

🍳 4. Be a Good Guest (and Customer)
• Grab a meal—either dinner or breakfast—as a courtesy for using their space.
• It’s a nice way to say thank you, and they do make great pancakes and coffee.

🗑 5. Leave No Trace
• Don’t dump gray water or trash in the lot.
• Take everything with you and leave the spot cleaner than you found it.

🔇 6. Keep It Quiet & Low-Profile
• Keep lights dim, noise to a minimum, and generator use avoided or extremely limited.
• Treat it like you’re a guest in someone’s driveway.

🧭 7. Have a Backup Plan
• If a Cracker Barrel doesn’t allow overnight stays or the lot is full, have an alternate location in mind (like a nearby Walmart, Cabela’s, or truck stop).
