the City on iHeartRadio. I'm your host Shanell Amuri and
I have very special guests today on the podcast. She's
one of my favorite housewives in the entire world. She's
on the hits show and one of the stars of
Bravo TVs The Real Housewives of Atlanta, which airs Sundays
(00:36):
at APM Eastern and PT on Bravo. You can stream
episodes on the next day on Peaca. She's also one
of my all time favorite housewives. Like I just said,
she's the co host of the pop culture podcast Humble
Brag that you guys have to tune in. We're going
to get into it. She's also an actress. We're gonna
get into her upcoming projects. An entrepreneur, a wife, a mother, beautiful, talented.
(01:00):
Please help me welcome our good friend Cynthia Bailey to
the podcast.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Everybody.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Hi, Hi, thank you for that lead in what a welcome.
I receive it, honey, I receive it all.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
But you got one thing wrong. I do know. Oh
my god, I guess you're right. Oh my god, you
are right.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Maybe I'm manifesting that, but maybe you're manifesting that in
the future I didn't make I could getbarrassed and I
am in a new relationship.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
So right, you already believe it? Wellie, well let's talk
about that. How are you?
Speaker 2 (01:28):
First of all, you look amazing, Thank you, But you
always look amazing, You look gorgeous. Why don't you talk
to us a little bit about how do you keep
looking so young and just confident and just good vibes
like I love your energy. You have no idea like
I love you. Just want to put it out that
we all love you.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Thank you, thank you. I love you too. I thank
you so so for me. I am, you know, a woman,
I'm a certain age. My daughter always hates when I
say that. She's like, Mom, why do you keep telling
people you're all like you look great?
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Why are you saying it?
Speaker 3 (01:57):
But I say it because I mean, I honestly just
also blessed to be, you know, to have this crazy
priving career doing all the things that I want to do,
from you know, modeling reality TV housewives, acting, podcasts, all
the things, and just to be able to do it and.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Still just have so much fun with life.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Life is truly, you know, a blessing, and I get
to have all these jobs that I enjoy doing. And
with that said, I think peace Like at this point,
I've always chose peace in my life. I didn't always
get peace, especially in the Mental Housewives Broke.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Predictade, but I like to vibrate in a peaceful space.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
And you know, coming back as a friend to the show,
I'm actually able to have a lot of piece because
I don't have to bring my tea to the table,
any of my dramas in the table. I don't have
to have a storyline. I literally just exist in a
friend space. So piece is something that I fight for
in my personal life and my TV life and even
in my my relationship. You know, choosing not to be
(02:58):
on social media is a very intientional choice with my
love life, you know, because I feel like social media
is not always a loving place for celebrity relationships.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
So you just see us in.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Real life, not on social media. Yeah, I love that
you say that. Peace Like I love how it's not superficial.
It's more about all it's beyond that, you know, because
I I feel like I.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Can relate a lot. It's it's it's the peace.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
And I've also I've been in we've all been in
like just bad relationships or just relationships not good for us.
And now to see you just glowing and in a
good relationship, you're right, and it is that's the number
one thing I think we all forget.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
We want peace. It's not the ego, it's not the
it's not the like, yes, we.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Want to look good, we want to feel good, but
it's that that's what's happiness.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
You're so right that like just opened up my eyes
right now. Yeah, no, no, it's true. It's like such
a simple thing.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
But at the end of the day.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
You can have money, you can have success, you can
have love, you can have all the things. But if
you don't have peace within yourself, in peace within your
your village, then it's just kind of like, you know,
throws everything off. Like I think piece is a very
important thing. Like I used to say, oh, you know,
I'm happy.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
I just want to be happy.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
I think the word for me is peace because pieces happy,
So you know what I mean. Yeah, peace, And you're
in a happy space.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
So any any tips you could share with us about
how you achieve your piece or how we can achieve
some peace within ourselves.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Not going back as a full time house We're gonna
get into that.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Been a friend of the show because you've been the
star now for eleven years.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
You've been on the show.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
You've been a stable you've been you've been the heart.
You know, to me, you're the heart, You're the soul,
You're the connector, you bring everyone together.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Moral code.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
I'm like, to me, when I want to go like
on the deep end, I'm like, Okay, well would Cynthia
Bailey do there?
Speaker 1 (04:49):
You go? Would not go eighte right now? She would
be a little bit more smarter. And that's what you've.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Taught us is like how to be the To me,
the message I've gotten from you work from you on
the show is how to be the bigger person despite
the kid, take the higher road.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
I mean, you know, I'm not perfect.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Lord knows I have been caught up and I am
still a work in progress my own self.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
But I say, for the most.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Part, I really try to just leep with love and kindness.
You know, I'm not beyond apologizing if I do something
to hurt someone, Like I really don't want to intentionally
hurt anybody. I just don't like who wants to do
that and then go home and be like, oh that
was fun.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
That's horrible. So with that said, you know.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
I think for me, I just have to I mean,
just treat people a way I want to be treated,
whether on a TV show or in real life. And
that's just really what it comes down to. And and
it's not just a TV world like I treat everybody
the same. It could be like I would treat you know,
whoever's working in this building the racket Midal is in
a building, Like when if someone approaches me a fake
(05:58):
things Because no matter what I have going on on
movies other shows, you know, the fans are always like.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Okay, So when you come back house, it's like I just.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
I literally just let it. People was like, so, you know,
it's a fun way to stay connected. I am the
originator of the friend contract, So full circle moment for
me to actually sign.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
A friend contract this season. That's cool.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Yeah, isn't that crazy? Like I think I literally manifested
this moment that I would come back one day as
a person.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
And you've been a good friend to these women on
this show. So far trying, I am trying.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
You know, you got to watch the season play out
what happens is for the most part, I don't have
to bring my mess to the show because I'm a
friend of the show.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
But I go.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
I bounce friends all the different cast members to check
in with everyone so I get updated, and then of
course I get my opinion and thoughts.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
I have to be like, okay, you make sure.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
That I'm showing up for each lady individually and really
trying to give them support even if I don't.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Agree with what they have going on, which, of course
most of the time I.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Maybe will not agree with some of the decisions they've made,
Like you know, for example, like Drew hiring Cours's baby
dad to be her music So right, I was getting
into your opinion on that, right, Yeah, Drew is so sweet,
so talented.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
I love and ador Drew.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
But what I personally have hired any of these women's husbands,
ex husbands, baby daddies, booths.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
I don't even think I would even hire one of.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Their cousins at this point to come on the show
with me in film, So for me, that's a boundar
reason I would not personally cross, but hey, she said
Dennis was like her savior and pretty much was our
angel on earth.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
So if people sent by the Lord, then I guess
I can make this sense.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
And that's hard to do, right to like tell your
friends something you don't want to tell them or they
don't want to face because in real life, like I
have those issues too. How do you suggest, I guess,
how do you come away from it with your mental
health knowing, oh my god, I had to tell the truth,
but sometimes the truth hurts. How do you come up like,
how do you, I guess, make up with these ladies
after that?
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Or in general, just you know, say, hey, what look,
the truth just wins and it just defends itself. And
if you just don't want to hear the truth, and
that's your like, all I can do is tell you
my honest opinion and live in my own truth and
and just tell you what I honestly think, and you
don't every three you don't have to take my advice,
but I have to just tell you like, hey, I
(08:27):
don't think that was a great choice for you, But
if that's what you want to do, you know, I'm
still gonna listen to the music. I'm still gonna post
for you all the things. But I think with all
of the million producers out there in Atlanta, maybe you
could have found somebody just saying it.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
And how about the and how about how do you
feel that Portia and Keny are back? And just in general,
like in the same season, and you know, the whole
situation with Britain Kenya, like, talk to us about what
you see, Okay, situations. For those of who haven't caught
up yet, Cindy is gonna catch us up a little bit.
But I want you guys to go streaming on Peacock
because these episodes are phenomenal. I gotta tell you, this
(09:07):
season is a great season. Yeah, Atlanta's Atlanta's back.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
You're right. I was like this. I was always a
great show.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
By the way, one of the highest rated seasons and
shows on Bravo TV.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
So congratulations.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
That's very hard to do, as you know, like I
had one reality season and it's not easy.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
People think it's easy to be a start. Why it's
way easier.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
To watch on the couch, Sit on the couch and
say what you would do if you were on the show.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Right in the friendship. It's great because I think that's
what it's all about. This is a sister at the
end of the day, you have your ups and down.
Even with their own real siblings, we have.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Ups and down, So why wouldn't it be like that on.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
A reality show?
Speaker 3 (09:45):
And the Kenya and bread of it all, that situation
just ended up being super unfortunate because I felt like,
just like when you know, like Shemia and Angela bump hits,
but they were still both on the show, so they
had the time to up, you know what I mean,
to get on the other side of whatever issues they
were having. You guys will see Portion and Drew kind
(10:07):
of navigate the season. They don't end up in the
place that they start the season because they're still around
each other, only together. And I think the new ladies Angela,
Kelly and Britt and then Shania coming back as a
full time housewife who was just great. I'm so happy
for you guys to see Shamia's amazing life, an amazing house,
amazing elevator, and amazing rolling boys that she asks, you.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Know, Yamia, can you adopt this all?
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Play the cast together, bringing in some new blood Atlanta
definitely needed a little shake up, and I think the
ladies that they found are great. And you guys, I
really think you gotta enjoy just watching how everything plays out.
Of course, it was not fun using Kenya because it
was like I always compared to the Super Bowl, we
had an all star football team, and then right when
(10:54):
we get to the Super Bowl we lost one of
Rebels valuable players. So but the show does go on
as it does, and season sixty is a great season,
even as a friend of the show, which I wear
as a patch of honor because it's you know, I'm
in the space that I choose to be in. It's
one of my the most I think I had the
most fun this season that I.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Ever had even his house. Wow, that's that's an incredible
That's awesome. Is there anything that we should like? Not
to give it away too much, because I want everyone
to tune in anything that we can expect that's just
in general like others, Oh.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Yeah, uh the unexpected. There's lots of twists and turns
like this season. We call it sweet sixteen, but I
feel like it's more like surprise. A lot of newbies
coming on the franchises of Bravo. Yes, and I think
it's a great thing. Sometimes, you know, we Bravo fans
are the viewers. We're so used to the Ogs. I mean, yeah,
do you think that's a necessary thing to bring new.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Blood or do you feel the formula works with originality,
with original people who are sharing.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
All their life. I think that's kind of what we miss,
right right right.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
I know, like the fans are super invested in the Ogs,
but you have to remember we were the new Girl
at one point. Is so the show has to have
people coming in and out in terms of a shape
a shake up when you like, most of the main
part of the cast of Atlanta has been the originals,
like and then maybe one or two new ones, but
(12:20):
you always have the main work or five people and
then maybe actually you disrespectfully, they're not afraid of us,
they're not intimidated by us. And I think that is
what's gonna make them great housewives because regardless of old, new, whatever,
everybody deserves respect.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Whether you don't have to like it, but you're gonna
have to respect.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
I agree with that, and then we can go from there.
One hundred percent. Everybody, You're right, I think this is
there's a culture has been happening with something of like
hierarchy in general in life. Where right, It's like I've
been a senior, I've been around, so I deserve X,
Y and Z, and you deserve last. And I think
even you coming in car the new girl, I don't
want to see any of these new women give them
(13:03):
the respect like you know, we support you.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
That's really what the culture should be, is the union. Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
I mean I came in, I met the new ladies,
and I gave them all a fair chance, and I came.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
In given respect and short respect.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
And as a result of that, I have a great
relationship with those ladies because I did not you know, Oh,
I'm a.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Girls girl and women. I love women. I love supporting
other women.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
So until you give me a reason not to like you,
I'm going to come in in a place of love.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Right, Hi, you know I'm here. What can I do? Like,
what do you need?
Speaker 3 (13:37):
I've you know, one of the older ladies on the show,
I've been through a lot. I can speak to a lot.
So I'm kind of like great in this friend space
because I can really help you know, the ladies, you know,
navigate you know, life, because I've just lived so much
of it myself as being.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
One of the older ladies on the show.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
So I love my Space. I love season sixteen. I'm
so excited for you guys to watch it all play
out again. You know, Losing Kenya was definitely like oh man,
but we had to keep filming the show. And I
can't wait to hear what everyone thinks. It was a
crazy scenson, a crazy ride. But I think you guys
(14:16):
are going to be very interesting.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
Talking about you know, fear and confidence you have, and
just new women in general. You have a podcast called
Humble Brand. You guys cannot miss it. It's one of
my favorite podcasts. I don't miss it. Every week, you
guys talk about not only the other you know, your
thoughts about housewives, but just great topics like how to
not operate from fear, how to be confident, you know, how.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
The reality how to fly cheat. I was like, I.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Swear that episode was amazing because I'm like, you know,
people don't know your finances a lot, and so you
get hassed, you know, so.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
That is literally I was like, you're the richest fourth
person I know, Like you are like a rich poor person.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
Like she literally thinks like one person.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
And I'm not like, you know, I'm very like I
came from very humble beginning, so I'm not over here
balling out either. But like when I tell you I
will never actually buy another first class.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Ticket as long as I live, He's like.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
The playing is here at the same time, what difference
does it make? And I was like, but wait, okay,
let me think about that. And every time now what
I buy a ticket, I buy main coat main, a
main ticket, a main coast ticket. And then she told
me the other day on the podcast, actually I should
even get basic. And I'm like, what is basic? I felt,
as long as I could go, we're apparently basic. You
(15:34):
can't even check a bag. I'm like, you know, I
have had some girl anyway. I never What surprised me
the most about Humble Brag is I never thought a
black woman and a Chinese I would have so much
in common. Like I'm literally older than she is. She's
been she got married young, She's been married for like
over twenty years now. I think at this point, I've
been divorced twice, Like I'm on the other side of
(15:58):
middle pause. She hasn't started medal, like we literally like
the perfect story I had no idea that the chemistry
would be so amazing with Crystal, but that Humble Brag
is zinitely my happy place.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
We literally don't even know what the podcast is about,
and when it was doing interviews. When I'm doing interviews,
they ask you, so, what is Humble Rag about?
Speaker 3 (16:16):
I'm like, tell me when you find out, because it's
it's about everything.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
The podcast. We can sit down.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
We don't have any structure, we don't have a format.
We sit down and we just talked. And for some reason,
people love to drive their kids to school and listen
to our banter, cook their dinner and listen to our banter.
And it's like an hour and a half long. And
we thought, like it was too long. I don't think
anyone wants to listen to us for.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
An hour and a half.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
And we ask our fans, our supporters rather, you know,
if we should make it shorter, and they were like,
absolutely not. So they seem to like her.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
It's a great podcast. I love podcasts, but you know,
there shouldn't be structure in general, and some things off.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
That there is, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Like that's what I try to tell people, like, how
do you make a successful podcast? It's like you got
to listen to the ones that are real whyn't have
humble brag because you guys are real, you talk about
real life things and absolutely, you know.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Even when I talk about my weight watcher's journey, like
that could be like, oh, nobody.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
Cares more weightwatchures.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
But when I started talking about like for me, my
perspective with like my health and bonus journey, I've never
had to deal with.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
I never had weight issues. I was mob, I was
always skin.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
It never happened until I got older and in my
fifties and my path metabolism slowed down. Even if I
was working out whatever, things just stopped moving. Menopause came
with a whole nother set of issues. And then Crystal
opened up in a different way than she did on
Bevera Whills about her struggles with Bolivia, and that was
not like land. I was like saying, oh, like I'm
trying to you know, lose like about forty fifty pounds
(17:46):
or whatever. And then we just started talking about weight,
which was a very authentic, organic conversation that we didn't
set up to talk about.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
It just was like, oh, wow, yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
And I don't really know that much about Bolivia, So
just like you know, hear in her. I mean, I
know about it, but i'd never really I didn't. I've
never really I was never close to anyone that really
dealt with And it just made me understand her in
a very different way because this is something she struggled
with all her life. And uh and it was you
know a lot of our supporters have you know, people
(18:16):
that struggle with it.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
So again, to your point, real conversations, very authentic. Yeah
that's all. How did you guys?
Speaker 2 (18:26):
It was interesting The audience wants to know how did
you guys come together to start the podcast? Like why
why Chrystal? Why did you or why did she give you? Yeah,
that's right.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Yeah, well most people assume that like just like a club,
like there's a room of a place that.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
We go to and just meet all the other house
that doesn't exist.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
We see each other that Bravo con maybe they were
fronts when we used to do those, but we literally
only see each other if we do watch What Happens
with Life Together or we're Bravo.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
We don't really see each other that.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Much unless we form friendships outside of you know, the
show in which I have like kinds of friends you know,
on the Bravo world, from the Jeff Loue, this up
of it all, all of them. But anyway, the person
when I met before, she was a housewife. I think
she was getting ready to start a housewives at an
event like years ago. And we just kept in touch.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Throughout the years, and when I've become to La, we
would have dinner or.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Whatever, and she just called me, just called me, like,
you know, about six months ago.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
And said, hey, you know, I'm thinking about doing this
podcast and blah blah blah.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
And I was say, hey, congratulations or whatever, and she just
basically was like, well, how do you feel about doing
it with me? And I was like, wait, what I mean?
That was not on my being goal part. I'm like
super busy. I was like I had thought about maybe
doing one with my daughter at some point and I
didn't even have time to figure that out. But she
was like, I, you know, this is the company they
you know, we have it all set up, and I
(19:41):
think it'd be you know, great for us to do
it together.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
And I was like, what what are we gonna talk
about together?
Speaker 3 (19:46):
And I thought about it and I thought about it
and I said you know what, we should just talk
about whatever we talk about, and it just ended up
being one of the best decisions that I ever made,
and I make the time we sent in La And
for me, I'm not like, I don't really go back
and forth like you know, when I'm on Housewives, I
have to like talk about my life. But I'm not
(20:07):
like someone who really like I have an opinion. But
because the world is just so since psychos now about
like old you say that like you can't really say anything.
So I don't enjoy really, you know, talking about stuff
because there's a community for every single thing I know
I don't like. Then the coffee community is gonna come
after me and go, well, why are you like, man,
(20:27):
I've been coffee.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Coffee is great.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
So so I didn't know how I've been doing that
space because I don't really like to share my opinions
on I have an opinion, but I'll work you so,
but I'll humble black deal with it. We talk about whatever.
We're honest and I'm really glad that we came together
and our chemistry is just undeniable. And it's so funny
because even with me being back on Housewives, I was
(20:50):
literally like in the airport flying from Atlanta to New
York and this lady comes up to me and she's
like like I was like, oh my god, you watch it,
like I'm literally shock. They were just something tell me
that they want to like, oh my god, thank you
so much. So we must be doing something right because
we do have a huge following and.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
They're consistent and they want us to come on more
than once a week, and I'm like, my child, and
we are barely making it very much. I get you.
I know.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
It's like people don't realize podcasting is harder than it's
like a lot of words. Yeah, it's harder than It's
not like we're just like coming on and being like, hey,
what's the you know, OI all pretty like that it is.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
There's airic. But how do you feel about.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
The fact that she isn't returning to houseways in Beverly Hills.
Do you think that's a good thing for her so
she can now?
Speaker 3 (21:33):
I always think that a break is nice and then
you decide if you want to go back or if
it makes sense for you to go back. You know,
Crystal is very protective of her personal life, her family life,
as she should be in all of those things. But
I think what has happened, especially with Humble Break, and
I'll take a little bit of credit for this. I
have somehow peeled off the layers and showed you got
a very different Crystal than you got saw on Beverly Hills.
(21:56):
So I think when and if and I really feel
like she should go back at some point, you guys
will be getting a.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Very different, very different Crystal. We're excited.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
We also are excited about you and your new relationship
because I have to tell you, it inspired me to
move on in general in my life, to know that
the love out there's now move out there.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
There's always gonna be new beginnings. I think we sometimes
get stuck and we get upset. How is it feeling?
Speaker 2 (22:22):
You look like you're glowing? Do you do you feel happy?
Are you excited? You?
Speaker 1 (22:27):
You know? I am happy.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
I have a very sweet, kind, hot, sexy little Dutchman
running around.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
Like Bailey Case. You feel a little du.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
I love it having a great place. I'm in a
really great place, going back to love. You know I've
been marrying the Voice twice. I I didn't know, you know,
dating is you know, I'm in my fifties like, so it's.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
Not like I have a lot on the corner of like,
you know, I'm mean, but it doesn't matter in this
dating world. They don't care. They're like, you don't who
you are, You're like to open me or whatever? Whatever?
You look like, are you kidding you? Look you?
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Thank you so much. It should be so lucky to
be in your presence. But I get what you're saying
is society.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
They don't care, like they will be like literally find
like you know, just like I don't know. It's just
a different time for me.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
I feel like I feel like the men don't feel
like they have to be consistent. You know, I'm the
kind of woman if you are interested in me, I
need you to act like you're interested in me.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
I want you to call me on a consistent basis.
I want to go to dinner.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
I want to cook you dinner, like I want to
get to know you and a like in a moor
up an old school way, like let's actually connect and
spend some time together and see if we like each other.
And although my man is a low yearner than I am,
I will say that he was very intentional from the
moment that we connected. And although he lives in Amsterdam,
he comes back and forth. He spends a lot of
(23:55):
time with me when he can. He's a musician, so
he can kind of like he's on the road a lot.
But I will say he made me very clear to
me that he wants to be in a serious relationship,
and he treats me great, and he's consistent, and he
you know, he checks a lot of my boxes. I
wasn't looking for a younger guy, but that's what God
(24:16):
gave me, and I'm not going to move it out
because I think at the end of the day, you know,
some of the men that were closer to.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
My age and over acted like child.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
So yeah, I've gained fifty year old men that act
like they're ten. I think Peter Pan syndrome.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
I'm like, well, absolutely, And it's such a double standard
because they didn't realize that I'm that I was looking for.
They all want younger women. It doesn't matter what I
look like. They're like, you're I was somebody in my twenties.
I'm in my seventies and I want three year old, right,
that's just what it is.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
What your old kid in general for like audience to date, healthy,
like what would you be maybe a what one tip?
I like how you said intentional because right now I'm
also dating intentionally. It's like you want to attract the
right guy and not someone who's gonna go with me
or cheat on you with my brother twenty eight year
old woman. I mean, you know exactly I think the
tip would be.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
And I don't know if he should be taking a
tip for me because I haven't. Yeah, I was likes
very happy until I live it. Okay, I'm always gonna
leave with love. But I would say the tip would
be to know that you deserve like a great guy,
you deserve love, and don't dumb that down for anyone
(25:28):
like stand ten toes down on the bag and that, hey,
you deserve to be the great guy.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
It's normal for some guy to want to treat you
great and show you love and hold your hand.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
And call you, you know, consistently, like that's what it is.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
That's what people do when they like you.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
They show up and they're consistent, and they're not like
disappearing for three days and coming back like they don't do.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
Some people that like you and want to be with
you don't do things like that. You know.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
I think that's so simple, right, Like when you're aiding,
you're so blind, So right, that's the red flag. The gosh, Like,
if he's calling you and talking to you, that's normal
someone who likes you.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
If he's not, And I'm.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Glad you said red flag red flags because when you
see them, like when you like someone, you tend to
ignore red flags. Don't do that, Like honestly, it's hard
because you like this person and you want this to
be the person.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
But as soon as you recognize those flags, like you
need to.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Like speak on it, like right away, because if the
person likes you, they're going to actually respect those boundaries
and respect your feelings, how they're making you feel. And
if they're not interested, they're not going to go away,
which means they're probably it's probably not going to work
out any if you ignore those those red flags, So
you can just cut it, waste, save some time, and
(26:46):
cut the relationships short, as opposed to going down that
road for two years when you already saw the signs
in the red flags in the beginning and you chose
to ignore them. So I don't have the time, of
the energy or the will to waste my time with
anybody because my time is valuable, my energy, Like I
feel like I have a lot to give to a man.
So if you're not coming matching that saying reciprocity with me.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Then.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Yeah, on to the next I'm not gonna waste my time.
I love that advice. And we can learn a lot
from women like you.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
We need women like you to encourage us to do,
to make healthier choices, to make better choices.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
Like you gotta put yourself first in a lot of
those situations. And then and then he has to put
himself first. And then you guys become like a partner,
a partnership.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
But everybody has to be respected and appreciated, and then
you guys love and respect each other as.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
A unit, right as a as a reality start. It's
opened up doors for you also for acting because you're
you know, I've seen you in some stuff. You're a
great actress. Why don't you talk to us a little
bit about some projects if you can that we should
tell in to that we should like, like look forward
to watching you because that's really exciting. I love that
you're you're transitioning into your acting career. I think it's
(27:58):
going to be huge for you. Thank you so much.
My daughter's dad is an actress, I mean an actor.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
My daughter is an actress, and I would watch this
process and just be like, wow, is it that deep,
that serious? Like he was like one of those actress.
He just never came out of character until it was done.
When he played David Ruffin and temptations, like I literally
had to call him David if I was like.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
Oh, Leon, can you do, he would like walk right
past me, and.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
I'm like, I'm for David, can you Just like like
he just never came out of character.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
And I just had such a respect for the craft
and for me. Although I did some.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Small parts like back in the Day on The Cosby
Show and Law and Order, different things like that, I
knew that if I was going to commit to an
actor and career I needed.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
I didn't want it to be like a side hustle
for me.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
I knew I had to actually commit to it because
I have such a respect for the craft. So I've
been you know, chugging along, getting like great little roles
from the time I literally like I basically left Houseboy,
did Ultimate Girl's Trip, and a month later was doing
my first Lifetime movie and I was like, oh my god, okay,
happening and.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
That was great, and I really it was very.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
Validating because you're like, Okay, you know, maybe this is
for me, maybe it's not for me. But I felt
really at home. I felt like I can do this.
And then I played my first leadly last year for
a BT plus movie. It's called Who's Cheating Who.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
I played the role of.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
Maxine, who is a psycho therapist who needs some therapy
herself because she's that shit crazy. Basically, when you guys
can watch that still streaming on BT plus and so
many layers, you guys get to see me in a
completely different way for me as someone who's been on
your television for so long as a housewife. As an actress,
(29:40):
I always want to be able to I want you
guys to when you watch me at forget that it's
actually dam housewives. And I think with my work, I've
been able to really do that, and that's like, you know,
something that I'm always working on with my acting coach, like,
and I want them to see some theater housewife. I
really want to be like, like my dream role is
like playing like you know, I don't know a model,
(30:02):
serial killer or something I don't know, something where people
are like, no, not the lady I stole off.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
The pack sheet phones has twenty bodies in a basement,
you know what I'm saying. So, yeah, you know, because.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
I get to be myself as a reality, they're all
day long and it's trust me, it's harder to play
my own.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Self than it is to play some of these characters.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
So it's fun to play to get outside of something
Bailey and play something completely different.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
So if you guys haven't seen shot on BT Plus,
check it out. It's good.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
I'm really proud of it. And that was a super
validating because I hadn't been that high up on the
call sheet before. And I was like, oh wait a
Minute'm number two in the call sheet. Like they were
never not knocking on my turtle sing ready for you
to spaill. I'm like, I just got the signs like
I need more time. So I was like, whoa, this
acting stuff is not for the week.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
It is not for week. It is not, but I'm
enjoying it. I love it, And yeah, make you guys
check it out.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
Nice And one more question, what place should we check out?
Speaker 3 (30:54):
You know?
Speaker 2 (30:54):
On the city fans that you love to go to
New York's when you're here in New York City, a
restaurant that you like to eat out just you know,
skate at or right. And yes, I'm such a foodie.
New York has to me the best food ever been
anywhere else for sure.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
But I'm particularly amics, sushi, gaviness food kind of girl.
And I've been writing with Noble for a long time,
So Noblu fifty seven, this is one of my all
time favorites. I love the ambience, I love food, and
that's just always.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Like I just it's always been my goal. As a
matter of fact, that's when I'm going to lunch. They
were trying to take me somewhere else.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
I was like, Noble, please, like I never asked anything,
and I just have this one thing here. Yeah, And
so they were gracious enough to to take care of
me today.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
So I love shout.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
Out and even the one downtown in Rebecca too, But
for some reason I end up going to the one
on fifty.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Seventh Street more.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
Yeah, that's a good one that they're both great. Yeah,
we love that. Thank you so much, Cynthia Bailey. You know,
this has been a dream come true. I want my
audience to know that dreams come true because when you manifest,
they do. And I've watched you and I love you,
and I'm inspired by you, and you've inspired even me
to to because of Humble Brag, just so you know,
to get on a better health journey. It's not just
(32:15):
y just healthy. So thank you for I'm really working
hard at that and that's because of you too, And
just keep inspiring, like we love you.
