Citizen Kane (1941) & It Happened One Night (1934)
For our 25th show, we’re spending time with two of the greatest films ever made. This is going to be great fun to dive back into two of our personal favorites; films Janet saw the first time as a little kid on the weekend movie shows on the local LA TV stations. The first is a masterpiece: the director-writer-producer-actor of the movie studied John Ford’s 1939 classic, Stagecoach, over and over (about 50 times to be exact) before embarking on shooting what many say is still the greatest film ever made. Our companion film is equally brilliant and won the Top 5 Oscars in 1935 (a feat that’s only happened twice since) – giving us one of the best romantic comedy-drama couples ever.
