SPEAKER_00 (00:01):
What's up everybody
and welcome back to the podcast.
As always, I'm Eric and you'relistening to Clipped and Clipped
brings you the tips, resources, and people to help you crush
your content goals.
And today I want to free youfrom one of the biggest myths in
(00:24):
content creation.
And that's this idea that youneed to be on every single
platform, posting content onYouTube, Facebook, Instagram,
TikTok, Threads, X, all thatshit.
You're probably spread too thin.
I know I am.
But if you're trying to likeget, you know, Clips to grow
(00:45):
vertical clips on all theseplatforms and put out a killer
audio podcast and make crushingYouTube content.
And then maybe, you know, usethat transcript to write a blog
post and you're, you're, gotyour hand in way too many
buckets because when you'respread that thin, if you don't
have a team and you're kind ofdoing this yourself, you're not
(01:08):
going to be able to dedicate100% effort to all those
buckets.
And so I think this is a problema lot of us face and it's
difficult because you feel likeyou need to keep up with all
these platforms.
Oh, if I'm not on TikTok, I'mnot going to grow my short form.
And if I'm not on YouTube, I'mnot going to grow my long form
(01:28):
and get those really engaged, you know, viewers and grow that
channel.
But the reality is it's reallydifficult to do that
thoughtfully.
And again, at a hundred percent.
And so this is my take, and thisis what I've tried to do.
And sometimes I'll dabble in theother ones, but when I'm doing
(01:48):
that, like, I know I shouldn'tbe.
It's been a mess for me.
It's recently gotten betterbecause I kind of just stopped
caring about certain platforms, especially because my customer
base is largely corporatepodcasters, companies, large
companies, enterprise companiesthat are producing podcasts.
(02:09):
And I don't know that theyreally care if I'm posting on
TikTok or Instagram Reels.
So, That's helped me kind of getmore focused on who I am and
what I want and who I'm serving.
But in any case, I think thegoal here is to go hard on like
maybe three.
For me, that's this audiopodcast.
(02:29):
That's YouTube, where I do alsoput some of these podcasts.
I film some of them.
This one is audio only.
But I also record screen sharesand how-tos and talk about
equipment and different serviceproviders in the content
creation world and how to growyour content.
And I make long-form videos.
whatever, 10 minute videos aboutthat type of thing.
(02:53):
I've been preaching to thechoir, but this show is
sponsored by Riverside.
It's my favorite place to recordonline.
I do my video there, my shownotes, my transcripts,
everything on the productionside initially is a lot of that
is done with Riverside.
Not all of it, but a lot of it.
And I think you could benefitfrom Riverside as well.
(03:14):
So if you want to check it out,if you want to try to use their
AI, their video recording, theirshow notes features, and more.
Go to riverside.fm and enterpromo code CLIPPED for 20% off.
Now let's give it a go.
So it's the audio podcast forme.
It's my YouTube channel, whichhas that.
(03:34):
type of content as well as someof these podcast episodes.
And then the third for me isreally LinkedIn.
I often post articles there.
I often post little tidbits andI try to comment and get
involved and really be in thatLinkedIn community because I
feel like it's really becausefrom the beginning, I felt like
I've had the most success there.
(03:54):
It feels like organic reach onLinkedIn is a lot better than
these other platforms likeTikTok and Instagram.
And so that in itself isuplifting and motivational, but
also I'm a fan of writtencontent.
In addition to the podcast andthe YouTube, I like to put out
written content.
I'm really heavy.
I guess four platforms, andmaybe that's why I'm already
(04:16):
spread thin, is the fourth onewould be my blog, where if you
go to thepodcasthaven.com slashblog, you can check out.
There's over 100 articles therewhere I talk about, again, all
things content creation,equipment, how-tos, growth,
monetization, And so that's fourplatforms.
And that is a littleoverwhelming, although a lot of
the stuff I put on LinkedIn isjust repurposed from the blog.
(04:39):
So that saves me some timethere.
But those are kind of my go-tos.
Occasionally, yeah, I'll post onInstagram.
I don't even have a TikTok.
So I've really tried to doubledown on what I enjoy, one, what
I'm good at, two, and what seemsto move the needle a little bit
as far as engagement and growth.
(05:00):
And so- I suggest you do thesame.
If your show's interview-basedand long form, you could do
YouTube.
If you're only doing audio now, throw the camera on and also put
it on YouTube.
If you're doing behind thescenes or micro content or
trying to get brand deals...
Instagram Reels could be themove, especially if you're savvy
(05:21):
with quick cut video editing orTikTok as well.
If your strength is communityand conversation, then maybe
it's LinkedIn or maybe it's evena Facebook group or a Discord.
I think going wide too earlymeans you're half-assing a bunch
of platforms.
I think going deep on threeprobably tops...
(05:41):
means you're trying to actuallybuild an audience and you're
putting out thoughtful engagingcontent and that's something you
really have time for if you'rejust like narrowing that focus
and honestly being everywhere islike a trap man it feels like
progress but it's kind of justbusy work because you're just
kind of trying to keep up andstay relevant there yeah Sure,
(06:04):
throw up a post or a video clipon one of these other platforms
that aren't like your go-tosonce in a while.
I get that.
But it's kind of just busy workand trying to do it like Gary
Vee says.
You got to post 20 times a dayon everything.
DM 100 people.
Then you'll get a customer.
(06:26):
Focus on what's working.
Focus where your listenersalready are.
Not really like where thealgorithm says you should be and
where society says you shouldbe.
Do you.
Also, if you're business focusedand monetization focused, get
involved and post on thoseplatforms where your ideal
customer may be and where youcan solve problems for people
(06:48):
that need those problems solved.
Hope this takes some pressureoff, guys.
You don't need to be everywhere.
You need to show up with thevalue in the right places.
That's it for me today, guys.
Head on over to the blog, like Imentioned, podcasthaven.com
slash blog to get hundreds ofarticles that could help you on
your content journey witheverything from monetization
(07:10):
tips to equipmentrecommendations to...
checking out new serviceproviders and platforms in the
content space that I've writtenabout.
So keep listening, keepengaging, keep creating.
I'm out.
