business isn't just what we do,it's who we are.
Let's get into it.
(00:46):
This podcast will start in 3, 2, 1.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Hey everybody,
welcome to the Coach Martin Show
.
I'm your host, coach Martin, definitely excited about today's
podcast.
So periodically we'll getquestions from our listeners out
there and then, ultimately,we'll take a special episode.
And we'll get questions fromour listeners out there and then
ultimately, we'll take aspecial episode and we'll kind
of go through those.
So this episode we're going togo through five.
Now they're not in any order,it's kind of random, so it's not
(01:15):
like the first one is the mostimportant, but we're going to go
five questions that we got fromour actual listeners on um, um,
you know why they should bestarting a business, right?
So these are super cool, superimportant.
But number one, I'm going tostart here.
So the question we got is howdo I know if this business idea
is from God?
So it's actually a greatquestion.
(01:35):
Now, maybe if you talk to acouple of different people, you
might get a couple of differentanswers, but I think I'm going
to give you a good one and I'mgoing to give you a couple of
things to look at.
So, number one you're going towant to make sure that it aligns
with the word.
So if you have a business ideathat's been dropped in your
heart and you know it issomething that is not in line
(01:57):
with what God says, or maybeit's actually maybe in a field
where it's actually sin I wouldtell you that that's definitely
not from God, right?
So that's going to be, firstand foremost, make sure it
aligns with what the word, withwhat the word says.
Secondly, I would tell you thatif the answer is yes, it does
align.
You know, it's not a, it's nota sinful, you know product,
(02:19):
service or idea.
I would tell you that.
You know, ultimately, it wasprobably God that deposited that
in your heart.
So, really think about that.
Obviously, go to counsel, youknow, spend time praying about
it.
But you know, if you feel like, hey, you know God deposited
this idea in my heart, you knowit's, you know there's nothing
wrong with it as far as from aword standpoint, then I would
(02:42):
tell you, you know, go for itAbsolutely so.
Number two, second question weget, we got is you know how do I
balance my faith and myfinances?
So this is actually a goodquestion and I'm gonna do a sub
question on this as well.
So, truthfully, you shouldn't beto the point where you're
struggling with.
You know how much do I putaside or how much do I give?
(03:04):
You really should, becauseultimately, what happens is
you're going to be a giver basedoff how you are.
So, in my opinion, the closeryou get to the Lord, the
stronger your walk is with him.
You're going to want to be ableto do things.
You're going to want to be ableto tithe.
You're going to get excitedabout that.
You're going to want to be ableto help people.
That's the whole purpose ofbusiness anyway.
(03:25):
So I think that you know thecloser we get to God, the
stronger it is that we want toserve God not just with our life
and not just with our time onSunday.
We want to serve him all thetime and we want to serve him
with our finances.
So if you're struggling andyou're asking yourself, oh you
know, every time I write thattithe check, you know it's kind
(03:47):
of like eat me away a little bit, man you're going to want to
take that to God, because Godwants you to do everything with
a cheerful heart and he wantspeople to be cheerful givers.
So I want you to think aboutthat.
Now I'm going to do asub-question on this, because we
get this every once in a while.
So the question is is it okayto make a lot of money?
So this is interesting becauseI know that.
You know, I've talked toChristian men that have kind of
(04:11):
debated me on this and I willtell you that, 100%, you know,
in the kingdom, god wants you tobe prosperous, he wants you to
be able to be fruitful.
You're a child of the king, sohe wants you to be able to
operate in abundance and that'sthe benefit of it.
And when you look at the wisestman in the world, king Solomon,
(04:32):
or even look at his dad, david,do a search one day, do a study
on him, the amount of moneythat they generated, the amount
of money they used for thetemple.
So I would tell you that, yes, your father wants you to live
your life and walk in abundance, and God's called you and I to
leave an inheritance to ourchildren's children.
(04:53):
You can't do that if you'repoor.
So that's what I got forquestion number two.
So number three how do I marketwithout being too pushy?
So I would tell you so, ifyou're thinking of that honestly
, you're going to have to removethat, because here's the deal
being in business and selling, you know, your product, service
or idea to potential people thatneed it.
(05:16):
You're going to have to, likeyou know and I'm not talking
about being annoying, but you'regoing to have to be comfortable
being uncomfortable, sharingyour stuff wherever you go.
Especially if you believe inall your heart that you have a
product, service or idea thatcan really help somebody, you're
going to want to share it.
You're going to be persistent.
The Bible says that persistenceis man's precious possession.
(05:36):
So you're going to want to makesure that you are persistent.
I'm not talking about beingannoying, but you're going to
want to be persistent, like youknow, and you're going to want
to develop that muscle.
So be persistent in what it isthat God put in your heart share
with people.
And if you, you know, if youget some people that are turned
off about it, you know at theend of the day, that's going to
(05:56):
happen.
So don't worry about that.
If you believe in what you got, don't hesitate to share it, and
I would tell you, share itoften.
Okay, number four.
So this is an interesting one.
What if I fail?
Well, you kind of already haveright.
I'm not talking about a life.
I'm saying, if your goal is tostart a business, to do X and
(06:21):
acquire you know Z amount ofmoney.
Well, you've already failed inthat, so you got nothing to lose
, right?
I would ask yourself a secondquestion of what will it be like
when you win?
So get rid of the.
What if I fail and replace itwith what's it going to be like
when I win?
(06:41):
What's it going to be like whenmy business brings in X amount
of dollars per year?
How many people am I going tobe like when I win?
What's it going to be like whenmy business brings in X amount
of dollars per year?
How many people am I going tobe able to serve, because now
I'm operating in abundance, right, and not scarcity?
So change the way you look atthings and start asking yourself
different questions.
Five where can I find faith?
(07:05):
That a lot you know.
Or where can I find faith?
Aligned mentors?
Or even maybe community?
Uh, communities, um, you know,in my area, or anywhere?
So this is a great question.
So I'm going to tell you that.
Listen, we all need mentors.
Everybody needs it.
I don't care what level you are.
You need mentors, right?
Look at like you know great menin the Bible.
They all had mentors.
I mean I even look at like youknow Moses, right.
Look at like you know great menin the Bible.
They all had mentors.
I mean, I even look at like youknow Moses, right.
(07:27):
Moses had a mentor Joshua.
Moses was Joshua's mentor.
So we all need mentors.
We need people that are goingto be able to help us, people
that can kind of see in theshadows that we're not able to
see.
People that are going to, youknow, tell us when we need to
pick up the pace.
People that are going to tellus when maybe we're doing
something that we shouldn't bedoing.
(07:48):
We need mentors in your lifebecause here's the deal you only
know what you know and, basedoff what you know, has gotten
you to where you are right now.
So if you're good with whereyou are right now, I would say
just keep doing what you'redoing.
But if there's another levelthat you're trying to get, to
make sure you get a mentor, getpeople, and it should never be
one.
(08:08):
You're going to want to havemultiple mentors that you learn
from and ultimately, what it'lldo is it'll help you scale up
and scale up, and the more youget in you, the more you can
help other people get to wherethey're trying to get to Now.
I hope these are great things.
