John Hinckley Jr. opens fire on President Ronald Reagan. Secret Service agent Jerry Parr has to make a difficult decision to save the president's life. It all happens in less than two seconds. An event that has been building for years. In the gunman's pocket rests a John Lennon button. In his hotel room is a copy of the Catcher in the Rye.
John Hinckley Jr discovers that he is not the only one with a dangerous obsession. Jodi Foster finds relief from her tormentor for a brief while as Hinckley turns his sights on the U.S. President.
